Having just rewatched AAA, it's really interesting how much of a walking raw nerve Agatha is after episode 5.

She aggressively pushes everyone away with her words, verbally attacking every vulnerability she spots.

She went from this

To a hissing, spitting kitten, who claws at everything and anyone who gets close.

Seeing her abusive mother reverts her back to the witch on the run, her against the world.

Having Billy accuse her of lying, of being the villain she is, of stone cold murdering Alice intentionally, sets her off in the worst way.

It's that same old story, getting told you are evil, worthless, a born monster, often enough, and you start falling into the pattern of behaviour you are accused of.

Why would they call me a monster, a liar, unless it was true.

Which is ironic because Agatha has probably been her most honest and least monstrous in her interactions with Billy.

She tells him the witches road isn't real, she tells him she didn't intentionally kill Alice, she tells him he has nothing to be ashamed of for surviving. Yet he calls her a liar throws each truth back in her face, twisted into a lie, until she just gives up.

Look at her, all defensive, showing Billy the monster he expects to see. Back in that survival mode to protect herself.

I imagine if she hadn't had her mother thrown at her for her trial, the outcome of this story would be very different.

She wouldn't have had her confrontation with Rio, wouldn't have pushed and pushed until Rio gave her the ultimatum.

The irony is that Agatha treated Rio the same way Evanora treated her. She lashes out, heaping all her loss, her guilt, her grief onto Rio making it her fault, her responsibility. The same way Evanora places all her own self-loathing onto Agatha.

If she had time to process things, hadn'thad her own deamons come back to haunt her, there could have been compromise, and the thinnest sliver of a chance at a reunion between her and Rio.

Agatha is a creature forged in neglect, in rejection, in the scorn of her community. She is a scrappy little survivor, the monster everyone believes her to be, a scared little girl uncertain as to why her mother hates her so.

It's what makes her such a rich character because, given the right circumstances, she could be so much more.

Okay, can we all just agree that Freddy in the Shazam movies is freakishly overpowered for a normal human.

Like, my guy is blessed with a rather high IQ, has connections like crazy, has an impeccable aim and a mental resilience that quite honestly could rival Batman in my opinion.

Don't believe me? Case and point:

Freddy is shown to have a lot of knowledge in the first movie, outright stating that he has studied and understood academic literature, which is implied he has done for quite some time. He was 14 during the first movie, thus with a little bit of math it wouldn't be a stretch to say he learned to do so at 11/12. You have to understand that that kind of literature takes a high level of language comprehension, which averagely is not high enough for academic literature at that age range. Showing that he is at least above average in that department. ____

While unsure if that is still canon, in Freddy's guide to superheroing (a tie in book) it is told he has contacts with Lois Lane (yes that Lois) and that she helped him publish an article in the Daily Planet!! He apparently also has a contact that can supply him with a frick ton of liquid ice. You know what they say, good connections can bring you anywhere. ____

In the first movie Freddy throws his batarang at Sivana to distract him from Billy. Only thing is, HE THROWS IN SUCH A WAY IT MAKES A CUT ON THE BACK OF HIS HEAD! This wasn't just a simple throw, otherwise it would have just been a small bruise at most. This was a deliberate and well aimed throw meant to actively harm a person. You need good aim for that. ____

And finally in the second movie he get's mentally tortured on multiple occasions, in two of those occasions he is shown actively resisting the mental torture for up to a minute. Even the gods themselves were impressed on how well Freddy could fight against it. Kalypso had to press further to get anything out of him, and even then it was a slow and grueling process that Freddy was actively fighting against. Mind you, this same power had make others go ballistic in a mere second.

I think his crippled leg was just the only way the universe could actually nerf him. My guy is a menace to the world.

I like that the Bobby Sox music video isn't so much about romantic relationships, but about relationships in general. It was cute when the boy appeared on screen kissing his grandpa(?) on the cheek, as well as the moment with the band themselves where they captured their long friendship and care for each other.

I love knowing that Zach Callison has been Billy Batson quite a few times. My Steven Universe hyperfixation ended back in 2019 or 2020, but I still hold a soft spot for the show. I haven't rewatched it in years and years, but I still like hearing about the cast doing stuff. And honestly? Zach Callison kind of makes sense as Billy Batson. As he gets older, it might slowly make less sense. But him doing it throughout the 2010s? Genius. Steven and Billy probably look and sound not too dissimilar. I'd believe they sound similar. So earnest and optimistic. It's good casting on whoever coordinated those castings.

I don't know if Zach Callison can still do it now. I don't know his age, or if he can pull off young billy batson now. But i think he deserves more work. He was great steven universe, and i can see him doing a lot of good. I haven't actually heard his performances as Billy Batson, but I assume it was good. I think he even did it for Lego DC Supervillains. I want to replay that game soon, anyways. Maybe this is just the excuse I need?
