You were only supposed to stay over until 9 pm, but the fact that it was now 1 am and your head was resting comfortably on Bin’s shoulder wasn’t something you were going to rush to change. You were quite content to stay just like this, in fact.
Bin was falling asleep, you could tell. Your intertwined hands rested on his lap on top of the blanket that you were sharing. The bowl of snacks was empty and the movie volume had been turned all the way down even though it was still playing. He only added small hums to the conversation to tell you that he was still listening to what you were saying. But soon he was completely silent as he couldn’t fight back the sleep anymore.
You glanced up at his face with a smile. He looked so contended where he was, falling asleep cuddled up to you. You joined him soon, dozing off for the next couple hours until you stirred again sometime in the early wakings of the morning. The sun was just barely peeking behind the horizon light, and a small orange glow was the only light source that reached through the window.
You turned to Bin again, “You still sleeping?” You asked in a whisper to make sure you didn’t wake him up if he was. But he shook his head slightly and hummed, keeping his eyes closed.
“What time is it?”
“4 am.” Bin mumbled.
“Shit- you have work in a couple hours!” You panicked, starting to move to get up, but he caught your wrist to stop you.
“Don’t leave! You’re warm…” He wrapped his arms around you firmly, making sure there was no way you would be able to escape his grasp.
“But you have work…”
“Shh-” Bin placed a finger over your mouth to stop you from protesting any longer. He paused for a second before replacing his finger with his lips softly. He kissed you for a long time, his hands cupping your cheeks to bring you closer. When he pulled out, he was smiling widely and you were blushing.
“You’re so pretty.” He whispered, his hand tucking some of your hair behind your ear.
“You think I’m pretty even like this?” You asked, referencing your messy hair, pyjamas, bare face and tired eyes. But Bin just nodded, eyes so full of admiration that you could feel your heart race in your chest.
You kissed him again, saying a small thank you against his lips. If you could stay like this in his arms everyday, you would in a heartbeat. You would never get tired of cuddling with him, and you were sure he felt the same way.
You didn’t go back to sleep, but you closed your eyes again. You snuggled closer to your boyfriend, your hand wandering over to find his with your eyes closed. You gently laced your fingers with his and gave his hand a small squeeze. He squeezed back.
“I love you.” You said, a smile growing on your face.
“I love you too.”

Now imagine post-sex eddie, still breathing heavily, hair all over the place. He has his arm around you and then leans over. You think he might go in for a hug or kiss, but he reaches over you to the bedside table.
He retracts back to his spot, can of pretzel twists in his hand.
'Want some?'

"You ready, love?" His soft voice addressed you as you finished applying some light compact powder, thus finishing your simple and elegant look.
"Yeah just done," you gave yourself a scan and smoothed down the simple blood red dress. And even with the three cups of caffeine that you had downed in the past two hours, a yawn still managed to escape.
"God I'm hopeless," you chuckled lightly, fighting the urge to rub your eyes so as to not ruin the eyeliner.
"I'm sorry," he whispered and pulled you closer by the waist. "I can see how tired you are and I can't do anything at all".
"Hey it's fine," you kissed his cheek, lingering for a while and nuzzling into his neck. "It was my fault for staying up late on that case".
"You sure you're feeling okay? No headaches or anything?"
"I'm fine," you smiled at his worried expression before grabbing his hand and leading him out of the door. "And besides it's Sarah's birthday party, I wouldn't miss it for the world, you know?"
"I know," he replied and followed you without a doubt, opening the car door like an absolute gentleman before getting in himself.
"I should've done that since I'm driving," you laughed when he shook his head.
"You open the doors for me at restaurants and I do it for cars. I think it's only fair".
The drive to the party was spent in silence, with the radio and Ben's humming being the only source of sound.
"You need to have a small holiday," he interrupted the quiet and took your free hand in his. "You're working too hard".
"I'll get one as soon as I finish this, I promise. This one's a lot more complicated than we expected so naturally it is taking more time".
"I find you absolutely cool have I ever mentioned that?" He asked with a teasing smirked on his face.
You couldn't help but laugh and smile yourself, "I think you have, indeed! For the past week or so".
"Seriously though, I still can't believe that I'm married to a crime branch officer. Who could've thought?"
"And it's beyond my understanding how I managed to snatch for myself a literal Disney prince for the record," you retorted and he grinned proudly.
You two had arrived at the destination and the car was parked quickly by your efficient hands.
As usual, he got out first and opened your door, offering a charming smile and his hand as if you were a queen.
You accepted it without a moment of hesitation and placed your palm on his cheek to give him a rather unexpected kiss, one that he immediately reciprocated.
"Goodness," he whispered to himself after you pulled away, leaving him rather breathless and following with a wink.
Ben just felt himself fall a little more in love.
As soon as you opened the doors, you were swarmed by his family members. Eveybody coming closer to greet you with enthusiasm while your husband watched from the sideline, a fond and adoring smile on his face.
"It's so good to see you sweetheart!" His mother cupped your cheeks and surveyed your face in the most motherly way possible. "You're resting well aren't you? Eating properly and getting enough sleep? He's taking care of you isn't he?" She pointed towards her son and playfully narrowed her eyes as if threatening him.
"Don't worry, Mum. He's always taking care of me," you laughed at his nervous and scared face.
"He better be," Thomas, his father patted him on the shoulder sternly before chuckling and pulling his boy in a hug.
You finally managed to extract yourself from his loving family and he joined your side a second later, straightening his blazer.
"I honestly think they love you more".
"Well, I know they love me more".
He rolled his eyes at your smirk and extended his arm which you took, placing your palm on his bicep.
"You look beautiful by the way," he muttered in you ear as you searched for an empty table. "Like breathtakingly gorgeous".
"Thank you," was all you managed to utter because the way he was looking at you made you feel all sorts of things.
"All these years and I can still make you blush huh?" He grinned knowingly while you poked and slapped his abdomen.
"Let's sit here," he pointed to one with two empty seats and you followed, settling down at last and letting out a sigh as you slipped your heels off.
His hands found their way to yours, as though it was second nature to do so. His fingers fiddled with yours, occupying his attention till the party began.
And it started soon enough with everyone standing up as the birthday girl cut her cake and both her husband and son placed a kiss on her cheeks.
"Awh," you said to yourself, a smile forming on your face at what you saw a perfect family. You wanted that too. You already had a loving husband, the only thing left now was an adorable little one.
You lips were pressed together as you looked at your man, letting your eyes rest on his sharp but smooth features.
How beautiful would it be to have a little baby, a perfect combination of yourself and someone whom you held so dear. Maybe they'd inherit his dark eyes and hair or yours, it would be beautiful either way.
How lovely would it be to see this small, tiny human being blossom into a fully mature adult with their own unique personality while also sharing some common traits.
Your heart felt heavy with love at the thought and Ben could certainly feel you planting holes in his face and he looked at you quizzically, though a smile was still there.
You shook your head, suddenly overcome with emotions as you rested your head on his shoulder, wanting to be close.
He didn't say anything and merely pulled you closer, if that was even possible while pressing a kiss to your hairline.
The celebrations were in full swing and all of the couples were currently on the dancefloor, swaying to the romantic rhythm which soon changed into an energetic beat.
"Goddamn," a breath escaped your lips as you pushed your sweaty hair out of your face. "You're quite the dancer, Barnes".
"Care for another one, my love?"
"Unfortunately though I have to decline your offer, darling. I'm quite tired," you laughed lightly and he guided you to sit on a chair.
He knelt down on the floor and touched your feet making your eyes widen as you instantly grabbed his hands.
"What the hell are you doing?"
"Shh just relax and trust me," he whispered and you watched as he undid the buckles of your heels and removed your sore feet from their tortuous clutches.
He then went forward to gently rubbing the top and sides and then moving towards the sole. The slight pressure helped immensely and you had to literally push him to get the man to stop.
"Thank you," you said into his ear once he settled down next to you, his chair close.
"Always," he murmured back and leaned down, capturing your lips in his and savouring the moment before it was broken by the party host.
Drinks and food were served once again, probably to energize the crowd for another round of crazy dancing. And Ben too had been dragged away by his many relatives, you laughing at his face that screamed 'save me from these hooligans'.
The sound was getting too loud for your rather sensitive ears so you decided to go to the more quieter areas but suddenly a loud crying stopped you in your tracks.
Pinpointing the source was easy enough and your heart dropped in your chest on seeing a toddler sitting on the grass all alone.
"Christ," you almost sprinted to the baby, recognizing him to be Louis, Ben's nephew. You sat down on your knees, offering him a smile and slowly moving closer.
"Hey Lou," you whispered, the smile still intact as you held out your palm. "You remember me, love?"
Fortunately the one-year-old had stopped crying though tears still stained his cheeks. He looked at you through wide set of eyes, his mind racing as he tried to identify.
After some time of silence you concluded that he didn't recognise you, which was fair considering you had only ever seen him twice in his life.
"Come here," you beckoned, now sitting on your heels and grinning as he raised his arms, allowing you to pick him up.
"Now what might you be doing here all alone, hmm?" You spoke softly, tucking him close to your body and finding a secluded spot in the party which didn't invite a lot of noise.
A sudden giggle was heard from him and you looked, surprised and laughing upon finding the cause. His tiny fingers had found your small butterfly necklace.
Sitting down on a chair you placed him on your lap, facing you. "Yeah that's a butterfly!" You smiled and gently wiped his moist cheeks.
"Fieee!" He grinned, his voice melting you immediately. He was an adorable boy, with blond hair and sea blue eyes.
"You wanna play a game? Let's play a game," saying so you kept him engaged for quite a long time and were entertained yourself.
"More!" He said happily, swinging his little feet as you tickled his sides making him squirm away but also lean in.
There was a tissue box kept on the table and you folded one to create a boat, an aeroplane and some simple shapes much to his excitement.
"Boat," he pointed towards the craft kept on the left and you clapped.
"Good job!" You chuckled and kissed the top of his head with every ounce of love. A wave of pride filling your chest at his correct answer.
Your shenanigans went on for another thirty minutes before Louis started yawning and rubbing his eyes.
"Someone's getting sleepy," you adjusted his position so that his face was resting comfortably on your chest and your palm was patting his back.
Ben's blazer that had been resting on your shoulders for almost the entire night was now shielding his nephew from the cold. You draped the black coat on him and it fit like a warm blanket.
"Goodnight sweetheart," you murmured and kissed his forehead before resting your cheek gently on his head.
"Nigh Nigh," he replied, eyes closed completely and one of his fist grasping on your necklace.
Looking at him sleeping so peacefully made your tired body feel dizzy as well and before you knew it, you were knocked out.
Ben Barnes on the other hand was roaming around the hall for the past ten minutes, trying to locate you amongst the crowd. He was getting agitated and couldn't help but release a sigh of relief upon seeing you.
Walking closer a small noise of surprise left him as he saw you fast asleep with his nephew resting on your chest. His heart took up its pace as he gazed at the domestic scene, his brain already creating various scenarios which depicted you and a tiny one nestled in your arms.
He swallowed, sitting down in the empty share and pulling out his phone to click a picture, knowing it would last longer.
His eyes surveyed every inch of you in that beautiful moment.
Moving from your creaseless eyelids to the small movement of your lips while you were asleep, then to the protective but gentle hold you had on the baby who was snuggling closer to your cozy figure under his own blazer making his smile widen.
"God I adore you," he said with a small chuckle, getting up to press his lips to the top of your head.
"Oh thank goodness," his sister Sarah's voice was heard from behind as she panted a little.
"What's wrong?" He stood up straight, concerned upon seeing her frazzled state.
"I left Lou with an uncle of ours and I saw the said person drunk some time ago and freaked out," she took deep breath, glad that her son was safe and sound.
He scoffed is disbelief at the carelessnes shown before turning back to you as you were rubbing you eyes and blinking rapidly, trying to move before remembering the child that was alseep too.
Ben and Sarah watched with a smile as you adjusted the coat, tucking it carefully and brushing the small strands of hair from his face.
"Oh hey," you greeted when your eyes fell upon the pair and you stood up, "He fell asleep as we were playing," you explained and handed him to his mother.
She took her son in one arm and pulled you in a warm embrace, "Thank you. I was worried sick after not seeing him," she said, shuddering slightly and you offered her a comforting smile.
"Its okay I can understand, glad to say he was in good hands," you said softly and they nodded while laughing.
"See you around then, visit soon, Ben," she hugged her cousin and bid goodbye.
"You slept well?" Your husband asked and brought you close to him while you arms went around his neck.
"Mhmm, needed that power nap".
"I've been thinking.." He began slowly making you pull away to look at his face, noticing the slightly nervous expression.
"Go on," you encouraged him, leaning ahead.
"We've been married for almost four years noe, yeah? And have been together for ever longer," he said and you nodded. "How about- How about we have a child now?"
Your eyes widened and you stilled in his arms, your heartbeat increasing with both nervousness and excitement at his declaration, "Y- You sure?"
"Why wouldn't I be?" He questioned and gently swayed you two together. "I want a future with you, my love. Have been dreaming about it for ages".
"Me too," you admitted, a small smile forming against your lips. "Seeing Lou again just increased that feeling tenfold".
"I second that. And honestly? I really want to take the next step now. I think we're ready. What'd you say?"
"I think I'm ready too".
"Well then, I supoose we should start practicing soon," he said, now a teasing smirk on his face making you blush.
"Indeed," you replied and the two of you laughed, placing your foreheads against each other and simply staring into each other's eyes, making a whole new world of promises by sharing looks.

Staring at the ceiling with you
Oh, you don't ever say too much
And you don't really read into
My melancholia
The room was quiet, almost dead silent if it weren’t for your occasional sniffles. Tears stained your face and the feeling of them drying made you want to tear your skin off. The sensation was all too much but you couldn’t get yourself to move. If you weren’t catatonic you would’ve called Billy. Nothing short of begging him to be by your side. You were a struggling uni student and you had met each other at some party your friends had snuck into. The pair of you got along, bonding over shitty childhood experiences.
You were curled in tightly under Billy’s covers. Unable to make it to your own room before collapsing, your girlfriend of six years had slipped up and you discovered she was cheating on you. The incident brought back flashbacks of your parents. In an instant you were three years old again, your parents were cheating on one another and your mum brought your dad a one way plane ticket to his parents. It was painful to say the least and one of the reasons you were scared to date, but you thought with her it would be different.
The sound of the door opening and the beeps as the alarm disabled filled your ears. The sound of Billy’s footsteps making his way to his room. Had had called out your name, poking his head into your room. Your body echoed him, calling out your name. Leading him to find you, lifeless in his expensive silk sheets. Tear stained cheeks and a damp spot from where your head was laying. When he spotted you you could’ve sworn you saw a flash of panic in his eyes.
“Hey baby, what happened?”
You couldn’t move your head to look at him, no matter how badly you wanted to. Being catatonic always scared you. It felt like you were a statue being gawked at.
I’ve been under scrutiny
You handle it beautifully
All this shit is new to me
Billy had refused to touch you, instead he gently peeled away the layers of blankets you had been stuck under. Despite being unable to express it you were grateful. You had been overheating for a while now and wanted nothing but to feel the air.
“I’m going to put one of your shows on. Then I’m gonna get changed and check your plan okay?”
Billy knew you couldn’t respond but whenever you found yourself catatonic he always treated you like you could respond. Knowing that you hated being dehumanised. When it first happened he had panicked, not knowing what to do. You had received a letter from your father and fell into an episode. After you had come out of the episode you say Billy down, explaining that you had been diagnosed with catatonia along with major depressive disorder as a teenager. When Billy had found out he went to Curtis for help. The latter had helped him do all the research he need. You had discovered this upon seeing a small notebook Billy had left out, emergency services, symptoms, what to do during an episode, episode recovery and all other information he had found messily scrawled in. It had shocked you for two reasons. One being that Billy was usually such an organised person and this notebook looked like the inside of your mind, second being no one had ever done this for you.
I feel the lavender haze creeping up on me
Surreal, I’m damned if I do give a damn what people say
No deal, the 1950s shit they want from me
I just wanna stay in that lavender haze
When Billy returned he had walked in front of you, kneeling down so he was eye level with you. He was in nothing but a pair of sweatpants that hung low enough to see his adonis belt. Raising a hand to your hair he brushed your hair back. If on cue you had repeated the movement. Echopraxia. When Billy first learned that it was a symptom of your catatonia, he was shocked. The two of you were at dinner with Frank and Maria, two of Billy’s friends. He had placed a hand on your leg and you copied him. It had caused both of you to blush and when Billy tried to explain, you had mimicked his voice. Maria, who was versed on your condition after Billy had brought it up to her when asking for help had explained that you were experiencing echolalia and echopraxia. It had you relieved as you didn’t want Billy to believe that you were making fun of him. Since that moment Billy decided that Maria was his new source of information.
All they keep asking me (all they keep asking me)
Is if I’m gonna be your bride
The only kinda girl they see (The only kinda girl they see)
Is a one night or a wife
When Billy had made sure you were okay and your breathing wasn’t obstructed, he had gone over to the other side of the bed. Ripping the covers all the way off and tossing them on the floor, opting to clean them once you were settled. Turning his attention to the TV he smiled, loving the idea of his roommate watching sitcoms with family dynamics. He had heard tales of your childhood and they were far from pleasant. Moving over to you, he pulled your body up. Sitting you up so you could see the TV, making sure you were comfortable as he did so.
The two of you ended up falling asleep like that. You worn from walking in on your girlfriend with her tongue down someone else’s throat and Billy from running training drills all day. When you woke the next morning you were met with the sweet smell of cinnamon and chocolate. You attempted to find move your fingers and to your relief you could. Slowly standing up, careful to not take it too fast, you stretched your arms over your head. Pulling out all the kinks and knots that had found themselves residence in your body. Grabbing a cane that Billy had placed against the wall you began your way into the kitchen. The source of the delectable scent.
I find it dizzying
They’re bringing up my history
But you aren’t even listening
Billy had music playing through a bluetooth speaker, situated happily at the kitchen stove. A pan over the heat with an unknown substance inside. You called for him softly, your voice hoarse from being unable to drink. As he turned around, a grin crossed his face.
“Morning baby, made you some cinnamon french toast and hot chocolate, your favourite!”
The excitement in his voice made you love him even more. It was a Thursday and you knew he usually worked on these days, but he had stayed for you. To look after you and make you feel loved.
“You didn’t have to”
Eyes trained on him as he turned the stove off, transferring the last of the toast to a plate with a stack of the stuff on it. In one hand he took the plate and in the other he grabbed two mugs of what you could only assume to be hot chocolate. You watched as Billy walked to the lounge room, setting your breakfast down before stepping over to you. A hand on your waist and another in your shoulder he walked you to the couch. Making sure you were comfortable before sitting opposite you. As he turned the TV on, finding the show you were watching yesterday and pressing play. He picked up a mug of hot chocolate. In the steaming liquid there was a straw, the loops making you giggle like a little kid who just found glitter. Billy shuffled closer to you, bringing the straw to your lips waiting for you to take a sip. You had done your best, wanting to impress him. You felt the warmth before you tested the chocolate. It took some effort to swallow but you had done it. Billy placed your mug down, smiling widely and whispering small congratulations. You didn’t even have a moment to thank him before he pressed his lips to yours. Melding together effortlessly.
I feel the lavender haze creeping up on me
Surreal, I’m damned if I do give a damn what people say
No deal, the 1950s shit they want from me
I just wanna stay in that lavender haze
As Billy pulled away you could feel his eyes on you. As if he was waiting for you to slap him and yell. Instead you gave him a small smile, grinning like a lovesick school boy.
“Wow…”
One word yet it held so much weight on your tongue. A small chuckle left Billy’s lips. He looked down at you, a toothy grin on his face. He leant down to you, whispering in your ear.
“Sorry if I overstepped”
Words couldn’t convey how much he didn’t overstep. So instead you took his head in shaky hands, pulling you towards him and moulding your lips once again.
Talk your talk and go viral
I just need this love spiral
Get it off your chest
Get it off your desk
Talk your talk and go viral
I just need this love spiral
Get it off your chest
Get it off your desk
“Billy, my episode… it was triggered because I found my girlfriend cheating on me”
Your voice a harsh whisper. The words like venom coating your tongue. You hadn’t wanted to admit it to him. It would come out either way though, he was Billy Russo after all.
“We’ll take it slow, work together. I’ve never exactly had a long term relationship either baby. I promise you this though, I will never and I mean never choose anyone else over you. From the moment you stumbled into my arms four years ago at that party I knew you’d be the only one I want. I hate that she didn’t give you what you deserve and I will do anything to prove that you are the world to me”
A tear escaped your eyes. He wiped it with his finger, leaning back to get the plate of toast. He had cut it the same way your mum used to. Into thirds or soldiers as she had called them. You were shocked he had remembered, it was a conversation you had while running off little sleep. He picked up a piece of toast lifting it to your lips. As the bread met your lips you bit down, the cinnamon coating your tongue. This was love, this beautiful haze you were in with Billy.

Thinking about baby bin being all pouty that you wont give him the attention he wants cuz you guys are in public. Trying to latch onto you or place his hands on you and you push him away as you scold him. Telling him to wait and that only good boys get rewards.
Poor baby tries so hard to be good and not touch you. You feel bad seeing him sulk and give him a kiss, squeezing his lil cheeks and telling him that you guys can leave early. He instantly perks up and starts to drag you off. Poor baby forgets that he wasn't behaving and he still needs to be punished.
He'd whine and complain but ultimately take his punishment with a pout on his face, giving you a cute glare when you're done. Quickly turns into a happy baby when you cuddle with him and smother him with kisses.

The ringing of the doorbell was not what you were expecting on a Wednesday that you knew Bin was fully booked for. His hurried goodbyes this morning were a sure sign that the day would be spent in solitude.
But you didn’t mind that much. You understood his busy idol schedule, and weren’t demanding of attention or time spent together 24/7.
But you were also subconsciously realising that you two hadn’t spent more than an hour together in the past 2 weeks. At least not an hour while you were both awake. You’d be lying if you said you didn’t feel a yearning for his affection.
So, when the doorbell rang, you couldn’t help the excitement filling your body as you went to answer it. Could his schedule possibly have gotten cancelled?
But disappointment set in as soon as you opened the door. Bin was not what was behind it, but a delivery box.
You sighed, still mustering a smile and picking up the box. Though the smile became more genuine upon opening it. Your new kitchen equipment had arrived. You had been looking forward to trying out new dishes for the entire week.
You decided that cooking in order to surprise Bin with a nice supper would be a good way to spend the afternoon. Especially with the weather getting more dreary all of a sudden.
Even though no rain had been forecasted for the day, it wasn’t uncommon for Seoul. And while you were putting on an apron and getting out ingredients, you heard a strike of thunder outside.
You turned on some music, and started cutting the vegetables to make a warm stew. On a day like this, You were sure Bin would appreciate a home cooked meal.
The thunderstorm continued to go on outside, while you made a cosy ambiance with music and cooking. The other ring of the doorbell went unnoticed by you. And the muttering of another person in the hallway.
“Is it that hard to get the attention of my girlfriend? Aish~ It smells good in here-”
You were startled when you looked up and met his eyes just outside the kitchen. His tall, muscular frame was leaning against the doorway, looking at you with shining eyes.
“You’re back?” You asked, your knife stopping midway in the air.
He laughed, “You didn’t answer the door.”
You looked away bashfully, “I didn’t know you were back…” You mumbled.
Your shy explanation only earned more laughter from your very smitten boyfriend.
“Cute~” He cooed, walking over to you. He took the knife from your hand, setting it down on the counter carefully before wrapping his arms around you.
“I missed this so much, my schedule has been eating up all my time.”
“Me too. Are you… I mean, if you need to leave soon again it’s not- But maybe…?” You were hesitant to even ask if he was free, as if he would be swept away again with another thing as soon as you thought he was free.
And so, you stopped yourself mid-sentence, resulting in a stuttered, jumbling of words that just barely got your original message across.
Bin giggled again, “Yes, baby. I’m free. Fully free for the rest of today. You have me all to yourself.”
“Really?!” You turned yourself around in his arms so you could look at him. Once you saw his small smile and the sincerity in his eyes, the biggest grin formed on your face. You wrapped your arms around him as tight as you could.
“I should go take a shower, I’m sweaty from practice.” He urged, but didn’t show any intention of leaving the hug.
“Let’s just stay like this for now.” You snuggled into his chest a bit more, everything else fading to the back of your mind.
“What do you want to do now that you have me all to yourself?” Bin whispered into your ear, slowly and teasingly.
You stepped back slightly, and hit him lightly on the chest. “Don’t you dare.”
You thought for a second, a smile growing on your face that didn’t go unnoticed by Bin.
“Why are you smiling?” He asked, subsequently smiling from your smile.
“How long do we have?”
“‘Til tomorrow at 7.” He was growing increasingly curious about your plan and you could tell.
“Home movie date? I just thought… I could finish this stew, and we could cuddle on the couch and watch that movie we’ve been wanting to check out.”
“Okay.” He nodded, liking the idea a lot since he was a bit exhausted anyway.
“Just get the blankets and I’ll get everything else.” You shooed him away to get the couch set up while you finished the stew and set it to simmer.
10 minutes later, you joined him on the couch, immediately snuggling up to him and resting your head on his chest. You could hear his heartbeat from where you were, and it made you giggle cause you heard it speed up.
“We’ve been dating for 2 years but your heart still beats faster when I’m close?” You asked teasingly, looking up at him just to his cheeks slightly pink as well.
“It does not!” He protested, “It’s just… I haven’t seen you in a while. I missed you like crazy.”
“Now you’re making my heart speed up.” You let out quietly.
“Really? But I thought we’ve been dating for 2 years.”
“Shut up.” You leaned up and pressed your lips to his, and you felt him smile through the kiss, before reaching to the back of your head to bring you closer.

Being nineteen was weird.
You weren’t exactly an adult, but you weren’t a teenager anymore. You weren’t allowed to make mistakes because you were told you should know better at this point. You couldn’t make decisions for yourself yet, because you “weren’t mature enough” to do so.
You were extremely naive, but also extremely cautious. You hated everyone, but wanted them all to like you. You were a perfectionist, but couldn’t give less of a fuck about anything at the same time. You kept contradicting everything about yourself and couldn’t do much about it because that seemed to be what being nineteen was all about.
It was this state of purgatory in a sense. You weren’t in heaven, but you weren’t in hell. You were in the middle ground, forced to reconcile with yourself until you couldn’t take it anymore.
At least that’s how it was until you met Soobin.
It's been a few years but you still remember your relationship like it was yesterday. You like to think it’s because you won’t find someone half as decent as him ever again. You’d never meet someone who was as kind or caring, someone who appreciated you for you — despite the growing emptiness that filled your chest with being the unbearable age of nineteen.
It was the summer following your first year in university. You’d underestimated just how much harder the workload would be and just how tired you constantly felt after late nights staying up to meet deadlines for papers and various other assignments. Sure, you had more freedom than high school, but at what cost?
The drive back home to the small beachside town you grew up in was gruesome. Passing all the thirty story high buildings and scenic views made you miss the city as soon as you left, though living in such a bustling urban area was more stressful than anything.
You half hoped your parents would be over the moon with joy when you arrived, but even they seemed drained by the months that preceded. You hauled your bags back into your childhood bedroom, the one that looked exactly the same way you left it in December — when you visited for Christmas break. This time it felt a bit more muggy thanks to the humid air blown in from the ocean.
You drop your things on the floor with a huff, tossing yourself backwards onto the twin sized mattress. The ceiling appeared more and more interesting the older you got, for a reason you don’t think you could ever comprehend (not that you really wanted to anyway).
The only plus about living next to the water, was sneaking out at night to sit on the beach alone with your thoughts. You didn’t do it much before moving out, mostly out of fear that you’d get kidnapped, but now that said thoughts had multiplied and you were older, the idea seemed appealing. In Seoul, you would just go to the Han river. It wasn’t as therapeutic considering there were usually other people around and the sound of cars honking was a bit distracting, but it was sufficient.
“Y/n! Come out here! Someone’s here to see you!”
You shut your eyes tightly, praying if you ignored your mother, she would just go away. Sleep was calling your name after driving five hours by yourself. Maybe you could just —
“Living in the big city changed you so much you couldn’t bother to leave your room to say hi?”
The voice speaking has you springing up and pouncing on the owner, wrapping him in a bone crushing hug (that is, if you were strong enough to crush bones). He laughs that obnoxious, yet endearing laugh of his, patting the top of your head as he pulls away.
“Beomgyu! Fucker, why didn’t you text that you were coming by?” You slap his arm playfully and he feigns injury, holding the spot like you’d hit him with a hammer.
“Wanted to surprise you, ‘fucker’,” this time he giggles rather than cackles. “Seoul really did change you, wow. I thought you’d be boring Y/n forever. I was starting to get worried, honestly.”
“Shut up,” you snort. “Seriously, I missed you asshat. You’re the only person who understands my love for garlic bread.”
“You’re so unserious.”
“Rich coming from you.”
Your mother and Beomgyu’s had been best friends since high school, so it was only fitting that when they had the two of you, by association, you were also best friends. Gyu had two older brothers, so had your parents gotten down to business any earlier, there was a chance you could’ve been platonic soulmates with one of them. Knowing that makes you grateful to whatever higher being is out there. His brothers weren’t anywhere near as funny as he was and you couldn’t imagine not having permanent comedic relief by your side. Especially with the rough push and pull of life now that you no longer live a ten minute walk away from one another.
Things really used to be so much simpler.
It was four in the morning before you knew it and you were wide awake. Once again your ceiling had successfully garnered your attention, lit by the moon slipping through the curtain on your window. You could hear the ticking of the alarm clock on your bedside table and the crashing waves of the ocean simultaneously. Though one was significantly louder than the other, it was the quieter of the sounds that made you want to rip your hair out. You were fortunate that your room was on the first floor, while everyone else was on the second.
With a tiny grunt, you open your bedroom window and hop out. You’re wearing a hoodie and some shorts, a pair of slippers too small for your feet shuffling against the grass of your backyard toward the sand just beyond the fence. You were fully aware that you looked rather insane — rightfully so since you were going to the beach a couple hours before daybreak — but didn’t have it in you to care. It wasn’t like anyone was going to see you.
That was your mistake. Had you gone any earlier or later, had you not even gone at all, things might’ve turned out differently.
You find the perfect spot to sit where the sand is loose enough that it won't stick to your clothes. Perhaps you did miss home more than you like to let on. There was something comforting and familiar about the beach, about your parents and annoying Beomgyu. About the salty air and the nosy people you grew up around. It was safe.
There’s a crunch of a twig behind you and you yelp, whipping around to search for the culprit. Your eyes land on a tall boy with wide eyes, his lips parted in fear. Whether it’s because he wasn’t anticipating you being here or he startled himself, you’re not sure. What you are sure of, however, is the fact that you’ve never seen this boy in your life.
“H-hi! Sorry for disrupting you… I’ll get going now—”
“Who are you?” You can't help yourself from asking.
His eyebrows knit together in blatant confusion. He probably wasn’t expecting that of all the things you could say to him. “Oh. I’m— uh— I’m Soobin. Choi Soobin. And you?”
“Y/n,” you answer shortly. “What are you doing here, Soobin?”
“I could ask you the same. It’s pretty late for you to be out by yourself. I could be a serial killer for all you know.” He shoves his hands in the singular pocket of his own hoodie, shrugging up his shoulders as a gust of wind breezes past you. You hold back the scoff that threatens to leave your mouth.
“For one, not that it’s any of your business, I’m from here. And two, I’ve lived in the city long enough to know how to take care of myself.” You pull your knees up to your chest, the action causing Soobin to glance down. The corners of his lips curl upwards slightly and you recall the silly slippers you were wearing. A sudden urge to curl into a ball and die right there on the beach washes over you.
“I’m sure you and your bunny slippers are well acquainted with the area, Y/n,” he doesn’t stop the smile that forms. “They’re cute by the way. Even if they don’t quite fit. I love bunnies.”
Your cheeks felt warm and you fist the sleeves of your sweater in your hands. Soobin was attractive. You have never been called cute by an attractive person. Well, technically speaking, he was referring to your slippers.
You wanted the earth to swallow you whole.
“You never answered my question.” You divert the conversation, lest he realizes what he’s done to you.
“Oh, right,” Soobin nods, running a hand through his hair. “My parents and I are visiting for the summer. They rented out a house a little further up the beach until August. I brought a friend with me but I couldn’t sleep and he was already knocked out, so I wanted to do some exploring.”
You hum in response, pursing your lips. “I live in that house right there— or, lived, I guess. I go to university in Seoul and I’m just home for the summer.”
“That’s cool! What are you studying?” He takes a couple steps closer to you.
“Undecided still. I’ll know when I know,” you pick at the sand below you. “Hey, if you and your friend want, me and mine could show you around town. That way you don’t kill yourself because of boredom, since y’know, you’re gonna be here a while.”
Soobin grins. “I’d like that a lot actually.”
“Let’s meet back here later then. Like two-ish?”
“Works for me. I’ll see you then, Y/n.” He waves, making his way back to his place.
You ignore the giddiness creeping up your face at the thought of seeing him again with better lighting.
☾ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚:⠀ *⋆.*:・゚ .: ⋆*・゚: .⋆
If you thought Soobin was attractive in the moonlight, seeing him in the sunlight was a completely different story. He looked almost angelic. The sun behind him created a glow that made him ethereal, like you shouldn’t be near him because he was too fragile. You’ve never seen someone so pretty.
“No bunny slippers this time?” He quirks, though it’s not belittling in the slightest. You feel the blood rush to your face instantaneously.
Beside you, Beomgyu narrows his eyes. You didn’t exactly tell him why you were going to the beach, just that you were. The entire minute long walk from your backyard to the spot you met up with Soobin was filled with his incessant nagging. Apparently it was ‘dire he learned the reason you were dragging him out so soon during the break.’
Instead of letting your voice fail you, you just shake your head no, and his smile widens the tiniest bit. He turns to the slightly shorter guy next to him and holds his arms out like he was giving a presentation. “This is Yeonjun, by the way. The friend I was telling you about last night.”
This has both Yeonjun and Beomgyu gawking at the two of you. Your best friend grabs you by the sides of your head, squishing your cheeks between his palms. “Okay now I need answers.”
“‘An you ‘et go o’ ‘y ‘ace—” You attempt to say through puckered up lips. His arms fall to his sides, but he doesn’t let you off the hook. “Thank you. Anyway, Soobin, this is my very stupid friend, Beomgyu. Gyu, this is Soobin. We met last night right here on the beach ‘cause we both couldn’t sleep. Happy?”
“Could’ve done without the stupid part, but yeah. I was just curious how you knew each other when you’ve only been back in town for a day.”
“Wow, she’s only been in town a day and you’ve already hounded her. No shame, Bin?” Yeonjun snorts ruffling the taller’s hair teasingly. The way the two interact is endearing.
“Fuck off.”
“I like them, Y/n. We should keep them.” Beomgyu nods, as if they were pets rather than people. You roll your eyes, turning to Soobin instead of humoring his antics.
“Do you have any idea of what you want to do first?”
He puts his index finger and thumb under his chin, squinting a bit as he thinks. Yeonjun deadpans at him, pushing him back slightly as he takes a step toward you and Beomgyu. “He’s the last person to ask. He’s so indecisive it’s insane. If it were up to him, we’d go back to his parents’ beach house and watch anime.”
Gyu bursts into uncontrollable laughter, hunching over and holding his stomach. Soobin’s reaction is comical, the way his mouth forms a perfect ‘o’ shape and his cheeks redden significantly. You can’t help the small smile that forces itself on your lips.
“How about we go visit Beomgyu’s mom’s restaurant?” You suggest.
“I could’ve just stayed there instead of meeting you here.” The aforementioned boy groans. Soobin and Yeonjun laugh when you roll your eyes again. As much as you loved your best friend, he was quite honestly the most irritating human being on earth.
When the four of you finally sit at a table at the restaurant, the vibe is considerably more relaxed. It made you happy that the three boys were getting along. While you were grateful to spend the whole summer with Beomgyu before school started back up in the fall, it was nice to add a couple more people to your group. Even if it was just temporary.
“You’re a disgrace to the human race.” Beomgyu suddenly says, his face covered with both hands (and you ignore the fact that he just coincidentally spit a bar).
“Mint chocolate ice cream is fucking delicious, what are you talking about?” Yeonjun defends with a gasp. “Plus I’m older than you, therefore your opinion is invalid.”
The two keep bickering as if they’ve known each other their whole lives while you and Soobin just watch on the side. You sigh. “I hate boys.”
“Why have you surrounded yourself with them for the day then?” He laughs, his eyes crinkling up.
You want to die. You want to curl in on yourself right there and melt into the floor. You feel the blunt edges of your nails dig into your palms and you scream internally. You were suffering and God was laughing at you.
Why did Soobin have to be so goddamn cute? He was a complete stranger— you hadn’t known him longer than twenty four hours. However, you found your stomach fluttering with incessant butterflies and knotting up like you were preparing for an elementary school spelling bee. The sound of his laugh was so melodic, only something you’d ever heard in the movies.
Maybe this was the overhyped feeling of having a crush that they talked about in books. Where time stops around the main character and everything moves in slow motion. Where they can hear the birds chirping and feel the sun on their skin. Where the smell and taste of food is ten times better.
You felt frozen, unable to think or even breathe. All you could focus on was the crow’s feet beside Soobin’s eyes and the curve of his pouty lips as he laughed. You can’t fall in love. Not with him. Not now.
Well, that’s what you tried to tell yourself.
☾ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚:⠀ *⋆.*:・゚ .: ⋆*・゚: .⋆
There’s a light tap at your window a couple weeks later. It’s faint, and definitely not enough to pull you away from the comfort of your bed. You have your laptop perched on your tummy, a random K-Drama playing to distract your unending exhaustion. It was almost one in the morning and despite feeling drained of emotion, you weren’t anywhere near tired.
It’s nearing the climax of the ninth episode, where the two characters are finally going to admit they’re irrevocably in love with each other and can’t stay away anymore, when the tapping appears again. It’s more erratic this time, like someone’s throwing pebbles at the glass. It starts to irk you, so you force yourself up, pulling back the curtain to see what’s disrupting your personal time.
Instead of getting annoyed, like you initially thought you’d be, you find yourself almost blushing. Soobin stands in your backyard with a handful of tiny shells in his hand, his goofy grin on display when you finally appear at the window. To come across stronger than you were, (he did Not need to know you were a weak woman) you raise an eyebrow in question.
Had you been a good lip reader, you probably would’ve understood what he was trying to say. Alas, you were not, so you just cock your head to the side until he visibly deflates and drops the shells, beckoning you outside with his hands. One glance down at your choice of attire has you less than willing to run to him. The ratty t-shirt and pajama shorts that haven’t fit since middle school weren’t as appealing as they were comfortable.
You open your window, leaning out to tell him you were gonna change, but he shakes his head. “Come the way you are. Don’t forget the bunny slippers either.”
This does nothing to quell your rapidly beating heart— in fact, it makes it worse. Why would anyone want to see you so badly in this state? Let alone a boy. You slide on the lounging shoes, hopping out just like you’d done when you met Soobin for the first time not that long ago. You stumble a bit upon landing, which embarrasses you unhealthily because you were on the first floor, and he rushes to catch you so you don’t fall on your face.
He doesn’t think too far into the closeness between you when he holds your arms, leaning down slightly. His dark hair falls into his wide eyes as he does so and you realize that you’d much rather die a sudden death than catch feelings for Choi Soobin. It has to be less tortuous than this. Your cheeks are unmistakably hotter and you can feel the perspiration forming everywhere.
“Woah there, are you okay?” He asks after steadying you, his grip still on your shoulders just in case.
“No,” you squeak, and then sputter when he looks alarmed. “I-I mean yes! I’m fine! Sorry! Thanks for catching me?”
He laughs that Soobin laugh that has you ripping your hair out and sliding down the wall, making the situation so much heavier for you. You stress to yourself for the umpteenth time since the summer has started that you couldn’t fall for the tall dork. He was only visiting your hometown and you’d be going back to Seoul anyway. You needed to save yourself the inevitable heartbreak that would come with parting ways at the end of August.
“C’mon, I wanna show you something.”
You swallow thickly when he takes your hand in his, gently pulling you along with him as if he’d rip your arm off otherwise. You follow blindly, unsure if he’s being genuine or if he’s ultimately leading you to your demise. In the back of your mind you think it’s most likely a mix of both outcomes.
“Have you ever heard the myth that lightning makes glass when it strikes the sand?” Soobin’s voice carries over the ocean once you’ve reached the beach. You nod in response. “While I was walking on the shore, I found this.”
He points at an iridescent bit in the sand and you can’t help the gasp that escapes when you see it. It’s unlike anything you’ve ever perceived in your entire nineteen years of existence. You squat to get a closer peek. “It’s so pretty, oh my god!”
You’re unaware of the way Soobin’s eyes aren’t even on the glass when he responds, “So pretty.”
“Why’d you wanna show me of all people?” You ask, biting your tongue after you’ve already uttered the question. You can’t hide the insecurity behind your words. You’d never been anyone’s first choice for anything, so why now?
“Why wouldn’t I? You’re really cool, Y/n,” he furrows his eyebrows like it's the most obvious piece of knowledge in the world. “I like spending time with you”
You have trouble falling asleep when you’re back in your bed. You toss and turn, Soobin’s words keeping you up. You didn’t understand why someone like him could actually enjoy your presence. It wasn’t making any sense. You were dull and you’d lost any sort of personality when you went to university. You came back home practically lifeless. At the same time, hanging around Soobin was bringing back your youthfulness. His happiness was so infectious.
You come to a single conclusion that night. You were reaching the point of down bad with no return — and there was nothing you could do about it.
☾ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚:⠀ *⋆.*:・゚ .: ⋆*・゚: .⋆
“Why haven’t you told him how you feel, pussy?” Beomgyu pushes you dramatically to mess you up as you play Just Dance on your Nintendo Switch.
“I can’t. You know first hand how awful I am with this shit. And it’s not like it’ll work out anyways.” you frown, ignoring how upset the statement actually makes you once you’ve said it out loud.
“You literally don’t know that. It doesn’t hurt to try.” He counters with an eye roll and a scoff. “I know it’s not everyone’s forte to step out of their comfort zone, but sometimes that's what you have to do to get what you want, Y/n.”
“Except it does hurt to try, Gyu. What am I gonna do a month from now when we have to separate at the end of the summer? School is too demanding for a relationship, not to mention a long distance one. I’m just protecting myself in the long run. I can sit through a silly little crush until August.” You sigh, setting down your controller.
Beomgyu cards a hand through his hair and plops beside you on your bed with a huff. “Look, I’m not saying that it’s gonna be easy and I’m not saying there isn’t a possibility of either of you getting your heart broken. What I am saying is you’re gonna regret not taking that risk months from now when you’re back at your dorm in Seoul, thinking about what you and Soobin could have been. Summer flings happen all the time. You’re allowed to let yourself be happy, you know.”
You hate when Choi Beomgyu is right.
☾ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚:⠀ *⋆.*:・゚ .: ⋆*・゚: .⋆
Beach day with the boys meant you sunbathing on the sand while the Three Stooges goofed around in the water like children. You very much needed the self care, laid out on a beach towel in your bathing suit with a pair of sunglasses on the bridge of your nose and the warm sun on your skin.
You had to keep your distance anyways or else you’d just ogle at Soobin’s bare chest and you were not ready to deal with… That.
He finally met your parents the day prior when he came over to ask if you wanted to participate in said beach day. It was the first time he actually used the front door rather than throwing seashells at your bedroom window, which you were grateful for.
*
The ring of your doorbell caught you off guard, especially because neither you or your parents were expecting anyone. You went back to helping your mom with the cookies she was baking and your dad went to answer it. The surprise on your face when Soobin walked into the kitchen, trailing behind your dad like a duckling, was evident when he let out a little laugh at your expression.
“Y/n is this a friend of yours? He said he was here looking for you.” Your dad says, crossing his arms over his chest to appear intimidating, though he couldn’t hurt a fly.
“Uh— yeah— mom, dad, this is S- this is Soobin. His family is staying in the house a few down the street for the summer,” you don’t know why you were so nervous introducing him to your parents. “What are you doing here?”
“Yeonjun and I were thinking of having a beach day tomorrow. We already told Beomgyu about it, so I’m here to ask if you’d like to join us.” He smiles.
“That sounds fun,” you purse your lips. “Sure, I will.”
“Great!” His smile widens if possible and then your mom shoves cookies in his direction before the moment can manifest.
He stays a little longer, talking to you and your parents like he hadn't left Yeonjun with his own. It kinda scares you how well he fits in with your dynamic, like he’d always been there. He got on with your dad unlike most people and he had your mom giggling like a schoolgirl. It was weird, but you didn’t mind it in the slightest.
“I like him, N/n. He’s so polite,” your mom piqued once he was gone. “Are you really just friends?”
Instead of giving her a vocal answer, you just nodded. You’re pretty sure it was because deep down you wished you were more.
*
“Are you having fun?”
You push down your sunglasses a bit and find Soobin standing over you, droplets of water dripping from his hair onto your torso. He notices and takes a step back to shake like a dog. Your lips curl upwards at the action.
“Yeah, I am actually. Thank you for inviting me.”
“Of course. I’d never leave you out.” He sits on the towel next to you, bringing his knees to his chest. You push your sunglasses up and place the back of your hand on your forehead. You didn’t dare yourself to look over at him, afraid of what might happen to your heart if you did.
“I really appreciate that. And thanks for always including Gyu, too. We’ve been friends since we were in the womb, so it makes me happy that you don’t care about us practically being attached at the hip.” You admit with a deep breath through your nose.
“It’s funny how he and Yeonjun argue like they’re the ones who have been best friends since third grade,” he laughs and it has every bone in your body fighting not to look over at him. “Well, I just wanted to see how you were doing. I’m gonna head back to the water, ‘cause it looks like they’re gonna start fighting for real if I don’t intervene.”
You hum and hear him leave, your chest feeling a little lighter than ten seconds prior. You had to do something about this soon, because as much as you emphasized the fact that you could handle this until summer was over, you were starting to realize that you couldn’t. And you didn’t want to wait until it was too late.
After a few moments, you sit up to stretch, yawning with fatigue. You see a group of boys in the distance and don’t think much of it until one of them starts to approach you. He stops right in front of you, crouching so he’s at eye level with you. He’s attractive, you can say that confidently, but you have no idea who he is.
“Hey, I’m Jeongsu. I haven’t seen you around before.” He grins. It doesn’t give you the same feeling as when Soobin does it.
“I’m Y/n. I’m originally from here but I go to school in Seoul. I’m just visiting home for the break.” You answer politely, though why you’re explaining this to him, you don’t know. You want nothing more than to get up and run over to the boys.
“Oh sick,” he nods. “Listen, I saw you when we passed by about an hour ago and told my friends if you were still here when we walked by again, I’d ask for your number.”
You blink. There was absolutely no way in hell you’d give your number to a stranger. Even with Soobin, it was a couple weeks after you initially met when you exchanged numbers and socials. “I’m sorry, but I don’t know you and I really don’t feel comfortable just giving out my—“
“It’s literally not that serious,” he scoffs. “Give me your number, it’s not difficult.”
“No.” You shake your head.
“You’re not even that fucking pretty to be so uptight about—”
“She said no, so why are you still bothering her?”
You whip around to see Soobin standing there. For someone who was just a big teddy bear, his height was definitely frightening at that moment. The guy stands up, nowhere near the same amount of threatening. You rush to get behind Soobin, whether for protection or comfort, you’re not sure.
“Who the fuck are you?” Jeongsu asks.
“None of your goddamn business, now leave Y/n alone or else I’m gonna stop playing nice.” He seethes, his arm coming to hold you closer to his back.
“Whatever.”
He finally walks away, but your head feels like it’s about to explode. Soobin spins around so fast, grabbing your shoulders and examining your face for any indication that he might’ve hurt you. His eyes carry so much worry and so much care you almost want to burst into tears. When he sees the quiver of your bottom lip, he cups your cheek, his thumb swiping across as he frowns.
“S-Soo—” He interrupts you with a shush and pulls you into him, cooing and hugging you tightly.
“It’s okay, I’ve got you.”
☾ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚:⠀ *⋆.*:・゚ .: ⋆*・゚: .⋆
It’s been a few days since the beach incident and you’ve been avoiding Soobin as much as possible.
Sure, you were dying on the inside, but it was safer this way. After knowing what it was like to be so close to him, to be held by him, you couldn’t trust your heart not to leap out of the confines of your rib cage.
Beomgyu nagged you to just get over your pride and tell him how you feel, especially because he saved you the way he did, but you just couldn’t pluck up the courage to do so. I mean, why wouldn’t you be scared? You liked your friendship, you didn’t think confessing your growing affection would do anyone any favors.
You already knew that you’d be upset over saying goodbye when you had to go back to school. And that was just because you really liked being friends with him. It was a little more than halfway through July and time felt like it was flying by.
Being nineteen shouldn’t have been this hard.
Seashells hitting your window snaps you out of your reverie. You feel a shiver running down your spine, fully aware of who was trying to get your attention. There was only one person who did that. The one person you were purposely staying away from.
Your phone starts ringing and you bite your lip, willing it to stop, willing him to give up. Except it doesn’t and he doesn’t. He calls you again and again, making you give in and answer.
“Soobin, please stop—”
“Y/n, talk to me. I’m going crazy here. Just tell me what I did and I’ll leave you alone forever.” He pleads.
You open your curtain with exasperation and speak in a wavering tone. “That’s the fucking problem, Soobin. I don’t want you to leave, ever. I’m driving myself insane because all I can think about is you, day and night. You won’t get out of my head and as much as I want to hate it I can’t, ‘cause it’s you.”
His lips part in shock and he pulls his phone away from his ear. You realize that you’ve said it. You’ve spoken it out into the world and you can’t take it back because he knows how you feel now. You gulp.
“Come outside. Please.” He says, not into the receiver, but you’ve gotten better at lip reading because of him.
You go out through the front door because this isn’t any ordinary meet up, and you don’t want to make a fool of yourself falling out of the window again. You go around the house to find him still standing in your yard, waiting for you.
“Don’t look at me like that, it doesn’t help.” You whine like a child, covering your eyes.
“Do you think it’s easy for me? God, Y/n, I feel so fucking delusional when you’re near me. I’m surrounded by girls back home and not one of them excites me the way you do. You’re funny and you’re awkward and you don’t try to be someone else with me. I’ve never felt like this about anyone before and it terrifies me, but at the same time I can’t bring myself to be mad about it— ‘cause like you said, ‘it’s you’.” He breathes, his words desperate. You choke back tears and step closer to him.
“What are we gonna do when we have to leave each other next month? I don’t wanna fall deeper in love with you just to go back to Seoul with a broken heart.”
“What did you expect to happen if you didn’t say anything?” He sighs. “I didn’t speak up solely because I didn’t know how you felt and I didn’t want you to feel uncomfortable if I did. But now that I know, I can’t just pretend that I don’t. I want to show you off as my own, Y/n. I want to hug you and kiss you and sneak out onto the beach every night with you.”
“Then kiss me.” You blurt.
Soobin doesn’t waste any time closing the gap between you, connecting his lips with yours in a slow, passionate kiss. It’s soft and sweet, exactly like you’d imagined a kiss with Soobin would be. He grasps your cheeks in his palms and gently tips your head up to deepen it. You run your fingers through his dark hair, tugging it at the nape of his neck.
Your skin feels like it’s on fire, but cooled to the touch simultaneously. Sparks shoot out everywhere and it’s the perfect kiss that you dreamt your first kiss would be like. He’s perfect. You’re perfect together. For now, anyway.
You’d worry about dealing with everything else later. What you needed to do was savor this moment forever. It was like something out of a fairytale, or a novel. You felt like you were on cloud nine and nothing could bring you down from your high.
Things would be different a month from now, but you didn’t seem to care right then and there, like you had up until this point. Your only concern was keeping Soobin in front of you as long as you could, kissing him until you were breathless and swollen-lipped. You deserved a happy ending for once.
☾ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚:⠀ *⋆.*:・゚ .: ⋆*・゚: .⋆
“Y/n, do you think you could run out and get some coffee? I’m running on like three hours of sleep.” Your cubicle partner asks, pouting with puppy dog eyes to seal the deal. You laugh at her and nod.
“Yeah, sure. The usual?” You ask and she smiles widely, sending you a thumbs up. “I’ll be back.”
It’s a chilly December morning, your coat only doing a half decent job at keeping you warm. It serves more as a fashion statement than it does a jacket. The coffee shop you found yourself at most mornings and late nights when you and your partner stayed overtime wasn’t very far, a ten minute walk tops, but the heeled boots you chose to wear today weren’t the most comfortable pair.
The streets of downtown Seoul are busy, to say the least. From what you could tell, it was mostly people rushing to get to work. This was a huge advantage for you because it meant the line at the coffee shop would be short. Your feet carry you further down the street until you’re in front of it, pushing open the door to enter the coziness of the cafe.
The change in temperature has you shivering, even after a couple have passed since the ring of the bell above the entrance went off. The menu behind the register is just a giant chalkboard with everything they have to offer plus daily specials. The date at the top has you tilting your head to the side. December 5th.
There was some significance to this day, but you couldn’t quite put your finger on it. You shake away the thought before it could consume you and then realize it’s your turn to order. You step to the side to wait for your drinks next to the cart with creams, sugars, stirrers, and napkins, crossing and rubbing your arms to heat yourself up.
Today feels slightly off and you can’t figure out what it is, from the date on the menu to the weird feeling in the pit of your stomach since you woke up. Then you hear a familiar name called.
“An iced americano and two white hot chocolates for Yeonjun!”
You glance up just in time to see the older male taking the drink carrier off of the counter, making his way over to where you’re standing, presumably to get some stoppers. He halts when he makes eye contact with you, nearly dropping the whole precarious thing of paperboard. His full lips part in surprise and when he registers that he hasn’t moved an inch, he sets the carrier down on the cart.
“Y/n? Are my eyes playing tricks on me right now?” Yeonjun all but gasps.
“The one and only,” you laugh nervously. “How have you been, Jun?”
“Not bad, not bad. Yourself? It’s been what, three years? You look well.”
“I’m good, thanks. I’m an editor for a magazine. I work just up the street actually. And yeah, it’s been a while. How’s—?” You’re about to ask a question you thought you’d never utter ever again. The name sitting on the tip of your tongue hasn’t been said out loud in so long, it almost feels foreign. But, then you’re interrupted by its owner.
“Yeonjun, what’s taking so long? I heard them call your name like five minutes ago.” The taller boy groans impatiently, his words dying out when he notices you. It looks like he’s seen a ghost with the way the color drains from his face. And it finally clicks.
“Stop it, that tickles.” You giggle, burying your face into your pillow as Soobin presses kisses to your neck and behind your ear.
“I can't help it. You’re just so cute, I always wanna kiss you.” He laughs, brushing your hair from your face. You turn in his arms so you’re facing him now.
“Hey, I have a question.” You say, playing with the hem of his t-shirt. He nods for you to continue. “I don’t think I ever asked, but when’s your birthday. That way I know when to send you a gift— even if we aren’t together anymore.”
Soobin frowns and pecks your lips. “Don’t say that. We can make this work.”
“You don’t know that, Bin. We can’t make promises we can’t keep.” You shut your eyes tightly, leaning into his palm. As much as you’d love to be together for the rest of your lives, you couldn’t stay in high hopes.
“December 5th, that’s my birthday,” he says after a minute of silence following your pessimistic comment. “But I’m thinking of visiting you for Christmas, whether that be in Seoul or here. So you can just give it to me then.”
You hum instead of responding, too tired to start an argument over the fact that you aren’t 100% sure you’ll even be in contact that far from now. He was hell-bent on the two of you lasting that long. But you wanted to be realistic and just indulge in the moment.
The two of you broke up that October. School was too demanding and the distance was getting to both of you. You agreed to stay friends on the off chance you would reunite again one day— holding onto the possibility that this was just a right person, wrong time type of situation.
True to your word, you sent him a birthday gift. You’re not sure if he ever got it, because you drifted apart weeks after ending your relationship. You supposed you should’ve seen it coming, especially after you warned yourself constantly that it would happen.
So you swore that you’d never fall in love again, unless they were the one.
Today was Choi Soobin’s birthday.
The Choi Soobin that you fell in love with that one fateful summer when you were nineteen. The Choi Soobin that flipped your entire perspective about yourself in one month than anyone else did in years. The Choi Soobin that you’d sneak onto the beach with at god-awful hours of the night, talking about nothing and everything all at once. The Choi Soobin that your parents adored, despite thinking you needed to focus on studies rather than a boy. The Choi Soobin that got away, even when he tried to assure you he’d stay.
Staring back at him now felt illegal. You felt like you were committing a sin by looking into those chocolate brown eyes that bear so many memories. Your chest is heavy all of a sudden and the room is closing in on you. It’s just you and Soobin, in the middle of this coffee shop. Your tunnel vision focuses on him only.
“Y/n.” He breathes, like he’s scared.
“S—“
Just like before, you don’t get to say his name, someone cutting in and stopping you. “Since when did it take two people to get three drinks? I don’t wanna be late for work.” The girl is pretty, you’ll admit. She has fair skin and silky black hair, leagues away from you. She blinks at you and switches her gaze from between the boys and you. Her tone is not at all snippy when she asks, “Who’s this?”
“Right— uh, this is Y/n. An old friend,” Yeonjun answers, as if you couldn’t speak for yourself. (You probably couldn’t.) “Y/n, this is Minjeong, Soobin’s— um— Soobin’s girlfriend.”
Oh.
You could’ve blamed the universe for dangling him in your face and then yanking him back after you finally began to get over it, but you didn’t. It was a sign that you were never able to fully say his name. Moving on was best. No matter how often you wished you were nineteen and in love back at home again. No matter how often you’re reminded that you’re more confident in yourself because of him. No matter how often you missed those late nights on the beach, glued to one another.
So this time, you’re the one that gets away.
“An iced americano and a caramel macchiato for Y/n!”
“It was good seeing you guys, and nice to meet you, Minjeong,” you rush out with a forced smile, flicking your eyes to Soobin. “He’s a keeper.”
You wave to the trio and go to retrieve your coffees, walking out of the cafe and not looking back, afraid that if you do, you’ll fall in love with Choi Soobin all over again. Exactly like you did when you were nineteen.

Next Thing You Know
Pairing - Ben Barnes x reader!
Summary - a fic taking us through the journey of your wonderful relationship with Ben Barnes.
Warnings - none
You swear that you're stayin' single next thing you know. You meet a girl at a bar and next thing you know. You get her laughin', it's 2 AM. You're tellin' your buddies three months in.
"Why do you always want to drag me to places I don't wanna go?" Ben frowns at his brother who just grins cheekily and doesn't let go of the firm hold of his hand.
"You need to loosen up a little brother," Jack says simply and they get into his car, him obviously being the one driving. "Even Mum and Dad think you're a bit too tense these days for God's sake!"
Ben rolled his eyes and turned on the radio, immediately smiling at his favorite Bob Dylan song that had just started. He had planned to just lay down in bed and peacefully read, something he hadn't done in ages.
But unfortunately that's not what 26 year olds normally did, which was very sad indeed. A nice little reading session with soft romantic tunes playing in the background was suddenly considered old-fashioned.
"Here we are!" Jack exclaimed cheerfully and they got out, him throwing an arm around his brother who merely chuckled and together they entered the rather crowded club.
"This is intense," Ben murmured after scanning the place. What with its loud, blaring music, dim but flashing lights and an over-excited crowd, it seemed a bit intimidating.
"Its just been way too song since you've been in a club," Jack retorted but then his face turned into one of glee after spotting his best mates who waved frantically.
"Not even been 10 minutes and already ditching me huh?"
"I'm so sorry," he said apologetically but smiled when Ben laughed.
"It's all good, go on hang out with them".
"You'll be okay by yourself right?"
"Of course, I'm not 10!"
"See ya then," saying so Jack bid him goodbye and Ben watched as he left before seating himself near the bar, ordering a light drink just to keep him warm and fuzzy.
"Thank you," he smiled at the bartender who bowed and brought the glass to his lips, the liquid barely grazing them before something- or rather someone, took his entire attention.
There you were, walking right towards him. His eyes gazed at the young woman who looked too beautiful even dressed in simple clothes like black ripped jeans paired with a leather jacket. Your raven hair that was tied into a half-ponytail simply added to the look.
She was exquisite, he remembered thinking.
He blinked, snapping out of his trance when the said woman was seated right beside him, looking positively bored and somehow a little out of place, even with her appropriate clothes.
He suddenly felt like a very shy teenager and focussed instead on his drink, whilst looking at you from the corner of his eyes. His cheeks went warm when you finally seemed to notice the rather handsome man sitting next you.
He saw your eyes widen and your mouth open a little, and he felt confused. Was something wrong with his face?
But then the reason for your staring became clear when you made a statement.
"Um hello, you're Ben Barnes aren't you?" You said softly and he was enraptured by your smooth voice that was slightly deep for a girl.
"Oh yeah, yes I'm him," he said quickly and gave you a blinding smile that you reciprocated with immense happiness and he felt a giddiness in his chest that had nothing, absolutely nothing to do with the drink that had now gone totally unnoticed.
"You played Prince Caspian," you grinned and he nodded, so excited that you had seen the movie.
"Did you like the movie?"
"It was brilliant," you said, your dark eyes appearing starry due to the lights. "I love the books and the movies just gave me a face for the characters that I so love".
"I take you as a reader then?" He asked with some eagerness.
"Oh absolutely! I honestly was going to spend this evening in my cosy bed reading a great romance book than coming here. But well my friends are quite persuasive".
He was over the moon at finding a common factor between you two. "I was going to do the same! But my brother dragged me in here, said that I needed to loosen up," he mimicked Jack making you laugh.
"Sometimes all you need to loosen up are some beautiful books and good music," you said, the two things were very close to your heart and Ben understood instantly.
"I agree," he smiled and you smiled too. Glad to find another person who had interests very similar to your own, and that too in a time when everybody was intent on partying the night away.
"Would it be okay if we geek over some books maybe outside?" Ben asked and mentally facepalmed. God he couldn't even talk properly to a girl.
"Yeah I'd like some quiet, it's really noisy in here," your eyebrows furrowed and you walked down, drinks in both of your hands as you sat down on a bench.
The rest of the night was spent talking and talking and talking. Ben didn't think he had ever talked this much before, much less to a girl but here he was, and here you were.
It just seemed so easy and he had this strange, warm feeling in his heart that he knew exactly what it was.
"What's your favorite quote from a book?" He asked, tilting his head in curiosity.
You were stumped, you had read hundreds of books and it was as if suddenly you had read none. "Good question, Ben".
His heart fluttered and red stained his cheeks, though thankfully for him you couldn't see it because of the dark.
And abruptly there was this gentle, loving smile on your face and all Ben wished in that moment was for him to be the cause.
"In vain have I struggled, it will not do. My feelings will not be repressed. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you," you whispered the words.
And he smiled, looking down before meeting your eyes, each one's irises as dark as the night sky. "Austen hmm?" He said softly, loving the way your smile widened.
The man was already on the brink of falling head over heels and couldn't wait for this to get further. It was as if he seemed to know, like maybe an instinct or a feeling, whatever it was, it just made him gravitate towards you.
And lucky for him, you felt the same. Albeit it took you time than him, you were too on the edge of loving this man from the entirety of your heart.
===============================
That she ain't moving in, the next thing you know. There's a U-haul trailer, next thing you know. Your old apartment is y'all's new place. There goes the carpet but the deer head stays.
"How much stuff do you even have?" Ben questioned indignantly as you carried boxes after boxes up the elevator. "You do know that we have a well furnished home right?"
You rolled your eyes, sweat dripping down your face and down your neck as you strained under the weight of a particularly heavy one. "Hush Barnes, I'm still shifting in your apartment aren't I?"
He simply shook his head with a smile and dropped two boxes on the floor with a loud thump, grimacing at the sound and praying hard that there wasn't anything breakable.
"You seriously need to do some downsizing, love," he muttered, slumping down on the sofa with a sigh.
You frowned but knew he was right. You had way too much stuff and you doubted that all of it was absolutely necessary. "Yeah I'll do that when setting everything up".
"And god what is the meaning of this Benjamin?" You shrieked when your gaze fell on the carpet underneath the centre table.
"What?!" He grumbled, reluctantly opening his eyes to see what made you react like that. "Oh that".
"Yes that".
"Uhm I was gonna replace it-"
"He's been saying that for the past year dear, I've forgotten the amount of times I had to tell him to change that wretched thing," his mum's voice interrupted and she stepped inside, followed by her husband.
Your eyes narrowed at your boyfriend who cringed under the stares of two women whom he loved dearly.
"Cat got your tongue, Barnes?" Thomas, his father grinned amd stepped in front of his son. Clearly enjoying the predicament.
"I swear I was going to change it," he mumbled and then gave you his best puppy dog eyes.
"Don't you look at her like that young man!" Tricia Barnes pointed ger finger which immediately shut his attempts at wooing you.
You pressed your lips tightly to prevent a snort at his downcast expression. "You gotta listen to your mum, Ben".
"I'm glad at least someone sensible agrees with me," she shot a playful look at the two men and smiled lovingly at you. "You got everything up, darling?"
"Yeah! I'll start unpacking after I make us some lunch," you smiled and the woman simply beamed while your boyfriend watched in disbelief as you laughed together.
"That's always how it is, lad," Thomas said with a glint in his eyes and Ben couldn't help as he chuckled. "But that is also how you know that you've got a good one".
He let out a genuine smile at that and let his eyes linger on your figure as you laughed with his mum while making lunch. You were the best decision he'd ever made, and the best instinct he'd ever felt.
"My god you're having it bad aren't you?" His dad cackled loudly earning strange but pleased looks from the two women.
While Ben's cheeks went red, "Yeah.. I guess I am having it down real bad".
"She is a wonderful girl, and I'm sure she's going to take good care of you, buddy. And in return make sure you never deny her the simple pleasures of life. Most people think women are extremely complex creatures, but that's definitely not the case, you know?"
Ben turned around completely to face his father and that's when Thomas knew that his son was falling in love. And a small smile graced his face because what else would a father want for his gentleman of a son?
"They don't want you to spend hundred dollars on a bouquet of flowers, they'll be happier with a single rose plucked from a field on any random day. When girls say they like sweet messages, it doesn't mean that you should write a five pages long essay about the reasons why you love her. It simply means a good morning when you're not together, a basic did you eat yet or a small text saying how proud you are of her".
Ben nodded eagerly and enthusiastically, he had already unconsciously done all of these things and was glad to know that he was going on the right track. He had never really understood the significance behind his actions, but now he did.
"What're you two gossiping about?" Tricia asked and sat down between them, glancing at them both.
"Just giving our boy some relationship advice," Thomas said and winked at his son.
She raised her eyebrows in surprise, "Well heavens only know what all you said to him. But I'm sure it was priceless," she said with a small smile while looking at Ben who nodded.
"Just remember sweetheart that anybody can buy luxurious gifts for their woman. But the truly romantic things are those little things you do everyday to show that you care and think about them," she patted his cheek.
"Yes mum," he agreed with every single word his parents are told him. He was really blessed to have such wonderful parents.
"Here's the lunch!" You finally entered the living room and set down two containers filled with delicious gravy and meat.
"Hey- Love- Careful there it's boiling," Ben muttered, hot on your heels as you carried the steaming pot.
"Yeah yeah don't worry I'm okay".
"I'll grab the plates and glasses," he said and darted back into the kitchen.
"Hey will you get some forks too please?" You called out after arranging everything properly on the table.
"Yeah bringing".
"Thank you".
The parents exchanged looks at the simple, basic conversation which seemed almost meaningless but somehow held such depth.
And after a fabulous dinner and bidding goodbye to Ben's family, you two had started the work of setting all the things in place. It was tedious to the core but helped greatly in relieving any kind of stress that was plaguing your mind.
And after about two whole hours of hardwork, all was finally done and you took a look around to smile at your new home.
"Ben?" You went in search for him to see your boyfriend in the kitchen, carrying two mugs of coffee.
"Yeah?" He placed the mugs on the table and sat down, gesturing for you to do the same while slowly sipping his caffeine.
"Where'd you keep my guitar? I don't remember seeing it-"
You were cut off by him pointing towards the piano that was kept in one corner of the living room and your eyes drifted to see your gorgeous black acoustic hanging on a wall right beside the instrument.
"That's the perfect place," you said, looking at him with delight.
"I'm glad. Maybe we can do some covers and record them someday," he suggested and took your hand, intertwining your fingers and brushing his lips against your knuckles.
"Yeah we can do that," you smiled and closed your eyes when he leaned in to kiss you with every ounce of passion and love.
===============================
Next thing you know, you're saving money like never before just to spend it all at a jewelry store. Gettin' down on one knee on her mama's porch just prayin' she don't say no.
"Never thought I'd see this day," Jack shook his head and looked at his brother and laughed. "Is the size correct?"
"Of course it bloody is," Ben muttered, slightly offended that he'd even doubt that.
"Should I pack it then, Mr Barnes?" The attender asked with a smile on her face, pleased at Ben's choice.
"Yes please thank you," he nodded, hands shaking slightly due to nervousness.
The middle aged lady noticed it and looked warmly at the fumbling young man, "Your woman is one lucky girl".
"I think this one is luckier to have her," Jack interjected and they all laughed.
"That's true actually," Ben murmured and took the precious, black coloured box, keeping it safely in his pocket.
"You are so whipped, my god. It's actually adorable I must say".
"Sure it is. When are you giving me the chance to pay you back for the hell that you've given me the last five years?" He asked, smirking slightly ad they got into the car and began driving home.
"That won't happen soon so don't you worry your pretty little head about it".
Ben merely smiled cheekily and parked his car in the driveway before getting out and walking into his first home.
You were currently on a business trip in another country amd wouldn't be back for a week at the most. And it was safe to say that your boyfriend missed you. Terribly.
"Hey Dad," he greeted his father who was watching a badminton match. "Since when did you start watching badminton?"
"Since my lovely daughter in law introduced me to it rather enthusiastically," he said with a knowing glint making Ben stare.
"Yes yes we know all about your shenanigans," his mother entered the living room and all three of them gave him matching grins.
"So let's see, where's the ring?" She asked excitedly and Ben pulled out the small box and handed it to her.
"Goodness love it's beautiful," she breathed, staring at the elegant silver band. "It's perfect for her," she said to herself and her eyes became teary.
"My baby's all grown up," she laughed through the tears and pulled her eldest in a loving embrace. Her not even understanding just how quickly time had passed. Just yesterday he was running around the house, singing his lungs out to songs playing on the radio. And now here he was, earning himself big from the industry and using that to buy his future wife a bond to last the next seven lifetimes.
"I'm so proud of you," she whispered in his ear and he tightened his arms, feeling like a little boy again.
He could feel himself getting emotional and rapidly blinked back the tears, not really wanting to cry in front of them.
"I'm proud to have you as my son, Ben," Thomas patted him on his back, his eyes too shining and ruffled his hair, exactly the way he did when the young man before him was nothing but a boy.
"And doesn't matter how much trouble I've caused you in this lifetime," Jack began his speech making everyone chuckle. "You really are the best brother-" he broke off when Ben pulled his younger brother in a bone-crushing hug.
They all laughed and the amount of warmth radiating through the room could really rival the sun's. But there was only one thing missing. One person who was not present.
And his smile fell just a tiny bit, but Tricia Barnes noticed it, of course she did. "Call her," she said with a smile and squeezed his shoulder while he nodded and walked towards his room, immediately dialing up your number and lying down on his bed.
You picked up after a few rings, "Hello?"
"Hey," he said, voice barely above a whisper and he cleared his throat.
"Ben," you breathed out. It had been seven days since you'd last seen each other and there was this ever present tightness in your chest. "What's wrong love? You okay?"
"Yeah," he sniffed and rolled over on his side, staring out of the window. "Now I am".
Your lips twitched a little, "How are you?" You asked the question as though you hadn't spoken to each other just the night before.
"I'm okay. I just.. Miss you," he swallowed, unable to keep back the emotions that wanted to escape.
You immediately took notice of the change in his voice and your heart broke a little, "I'm so sorry. I wish I could be there, Ben. I really wish that so much".
"No don't be silly! You're there for work, you should be focusing on that," he said and took a hold of himself. Not wanting to bother you and distract you from your job.
"You are more important, Barnes".
He looked down with a smile, "I'm serious. I just called you 'cause I missed you that's all. And my family there decided that it was a good day to say some really heartfelt words and make me emotional".
You chuckled softly, "Should I add to that long list of compliments?"
"Please don't," his eyes widened as though he expected you to do just that. He thought he might as well breakdown if you did.
"Nah don't worry I'm not that cruel".
"Sure," he said, already having a mental list of instances that proved otherwise.
"Oh shut up that was not cruelty," you said, understanding exactly what was in his mind.
"Oh yeah? Might I remind you of the time that you 'accidentally' dyed my hair blond?"
You snorted and that made him go off even more, "It didn't come off for a month!"
"Well atleast it wasn't pink".
"How reassuring," he said dryly and you roared with laughter. One simple memory emitting such joy that he couldn't help but join in.
"When are you coming back? I miss you, darling," he said once you two had both controlled yourselves.
"As soon as I can, love, I promise," you sighed. "Hey Ben, I'm really sorry but I gotta go".
"Yeah it's alright. Don't worry about me, I'll be fine. Just finish your work. And don't you overwork yourself or skip any meals because of stress or I swear I'm going to come there and feed you myself if I have to".
"I wouldn't put it past you at all," you whispered.
"I'm proud of you, yeah? And I love you, so so much baby".
"I love you too, so so much".
Two weeks had passed since the conversation and Ben and his family were currently at your house. Everybody was sitting in the garden, soaking in the sunlight and enjoying the warm weather.
You were wearing a gorgeous sundress and were leaning against the tree while in conversation with your mum. Your hands on the other hand were nestled in Ben's soft hair, running your fingers through them as he rested his head on your thigh.
You were deep in conversation when he opened his eyes and removed the sunglasses to simply look at you properly and god did he fall in love again right there.
Your brown hair shone gold under the sunlight and your dark irises too had a muddy shade to them. Your body seemed to radiate a divine glow and he was enraptured.
And of course that's exactly when his mum called you and stood up straight, forgetting completely about Ben.
"Oh shit I'm so sorry," you couldn't help but laugh at his adorably frustrated face.
"Where are you going?" He grumbled and pulled you right back on him making your eyes widen as you glanced at you mum who pretended to check her nails.
"Your mother is calling me, I have to go".
He suddenly stilled and immediately let go of your hand, almost pushing you towards the house earning a strange look.
"Way to be obvious Ben," Jack snorted and threw a pebble.
"God I can't do this, she's gonna say no," his hands flapped nervously as he paced around the lawn, every negative thought making its appearance and troubling him.
But of course you didn't say no, of course you didn't deny such a big happiness to ever enter your life.
And naturally you nodded, silent tears dripping down your cheeks which mirrored Ben's face. He slid the ring onto your finger, your families erupting in a huge round of applause at the action.
"I love you so much sweetheart, more than you could ever dream of," he said, jaw clenching slightly and eyes bloodshot.
"I love you too my Disney prince," you whispered and the two of you chuckled despite the tears and my god the kiss that followed had his heart almost jumping out of his chest due to the sheer amount of love, passion and promise.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These moodboards are my homage to all of the dad!Billy fics/headcanons I've read over short period of time and they made me feel so warm and hopeful and I couldn't get the imagery of Billy being a dad out of my mind (surprise/planned pregnancy, girl/twins dad, anxious/protective dad) so I decided to put it all in one place and also save the fics for rereading. "BITCH WHAT!?" Woongki shouts into the phone immediately after you pick up. "What happened!?"
You sigh. "Nothing happened... I guess that's the problem."
"But you kissed him!" He exclaims. "And he said he wouldn't forget about you!"
A sad laugh escapes your lips. "I thought maybe you were all just super busy preparing for the Artist Battle, and I totally understand that. But the more you texted me over the last two weeks and the longer I went with radio silence from him..."
Woongki is uncharacteristically quiet on the other end of the phone.
"What?" You ask, a little seed of worry sprouting in you. "What's wrong?"
"But I saw him on his phone every night," he says softly. "I thought he was texting you."
Your heart sinks to your stomach. Was it true? Had Hanbin really moved on to someone new?
"I'm so sorry, babe," Woongki comforts. "I don't know for sure that he was texting someone else, but..."
"But what other explanation could there be?" You finish his thought for him.
"Ugh!" He groans in frustration. "How could Hanbin do that? I never could've imagined that he'd play with your feelings like that."
You're not quite sure what to say. A lump growing in your throat, you try to force out some nonchalant response but you just can't.
"Hey," Woongki coos, clearly just as upset as you are-- if not more. "Do you want me to go beat him up for you?"
The thought of Woongki and Hanbin in a fist fight is enough to make you reluctantly laugh. "Are you sure you'd win that fight?"
"Okay, rude," he responds, a pout audible in his tone. "Seriously though. Should I go talk to him? Ask him what his deal is?"
You have to admit it's a little tempting. The past two weeks were hard enough wondering when Hanbin was finally going to send you a message. But now, thinking that it could be because he isn't interested in you anymore-- and didn't even have the decency to let you know.
"I don't think it's a good idea," you decide finally. "I don't want him knowing I've wasted so much time and energy thinking about him when he didn't miss me at all."
"(Y/N)," Woongki sighs sadly. "You don't need to feel bad for any of this. He deserves to feel bad for this!"
"I knowww," you respond softly, trying to force a smile back on your face despite the situation. "I love you, Woongki boy. You're literally the best."
"Are you free tomorrow?" He asks excitedly. "We can get boba with Seowonnie and shit talk Hanbin!"
"Count me in."

"(Y/N)!"
The sudden call of your name as you're walking down the busy street to your favorite coffee shop. You turn back around in the direction of the sound, your eyes landing on two familiar faces standing outside the salad shoppe.
"Yo, what the hell?" Kamden calls as you walk towards them slowly. "I thought you were busy this afternoon!"
Unsure of what to say as you approach Kamden and Matthew under the shoppe awning, you try not to let your uncertainty creep onto your face. "Oh hey guys!"
"Liar," Matthew mumbles, a little suspicious pout on his lips.
You roll your eyes, a laugh now escaping you. "You guys are so needy. I'm just grabbing coffee quickly before I get back to studying."
"Look at you, smartypants," Kamden teases, taking a sip of his iced tea.
"Why are you guys all the way out in this part of the city?" You ask curiously. "Had to be a bit of a bus ride."
"Hanbin wanted to come here actually," Matthew explains with a shrug. "He said he and Taerae had been talking about it."
You frown. "Oh."
Your eyes widen when Matthew's words finally register in your brain. The whole reason you'd said no to lunch with the boys in the first place was because Hanbin would be there.
"Um, where--... Where is Hanbin?" You ask, looking around nervously.
"I knew you'd want to get a glimpse of your boyfriend," Kamden says, smirking.
Matthew shakes his head uncertainly. "Taerae and Hanbin have been attached at the hip lately. Every time I see them, they're always whispering about something."
Your eyebrows raise as you consider this. Could the person Hanbin's been texting every night be... Kim Taerae?
"Really?" Kamden asks, frowning. "I haven't noticed."
"I mean, even right now," Matthew continues, pointing to the salad shop behind him. "They're both still in there after they told us to wait outside for a minute."
Your stomach flips a bit at this revelation. Taerae had always been so supportive of your little crush on Hanbin-- even when you weren't ready to admit it yet. Had he secretly been plotting against you this whole time?
"I'm sorry guys," you apologize quickly, starting to back away from Matthew and Kamden. "I really have to get going now. Text me next time you're going out-- I'll try to make it!"
"Good luck with your schoolwork!" Matthew calls, waving at you.
Kamden smiles, but you can see the slight suspicion in his eyes. "See you soon, (Y/N)!"
You walk back in the direction of your apartment, giving up on your coffee for today.

"Who are you texting?" Woongki asks, lying upside down on your couch-- his hair gently scraping the carpet as his face grows a bit redder every minute.
You groan, "Taerae."
"NO!" Woongki screams, haphazardly maneuvering himself until he's sitting upright. "Oh my god, what did he say?"
"He asked if I was coming tomorrow," you answer, rolling your eyes. "Obviously I'm coming tomorrow. I have to. Everybody has to."
"Yeah, right? I wonder why he'd ask you that," he muses, pushing his lips into a pout. "Maybe he wants to confront you publicly!"
You think about quiet Taerae for a moment. His big, dorky glasses, his broad, dimpled smile... his incredibly endearing loser energy. You couldn't imagine that Taerae was planning to humiliate you in front of all of your friends. On the other hand, you couldn't have imagined before a week ago that Taerae would potentially steal your crush from you.
"I doubt it," you respond.
"Hmm," Woongki hums. "I guess he could be asking for Hanbin? Being his little spy."
"Maybe," you agree, picking up your phone again and scrolling to Hanbin's contact. "You don't think this is my fault right?"
"Your fault!?" Woongki exclaims, outstretching his arms to you. You take both his hands in yours as you sit on the floor in front of him. "How would it be your fault!?"
"Maybe he doesn't want to date a loser," you say, sulking dramatically.
"Well who would?" Woongki asks, grinning. "Good thing you're not one."
"What would I do without you?" You ask rhetorically, resting your chin on his leg.
"Die," he says matter-of-factly. "You'd die."
"I'd also have no one to paint my nails for the finale."
"Exactly as I said," he responds with a grin, sifting through the container of your nail polishes before pulling out a steel blue color. "You'd die."

You're surprised your bottom lip hasn't started bleeding yet considering how much you've been chewing at it. Your blazer constricting you slightly, you roll your shoulders back hoping to stretch the fabric slightly and relieve the binding tension.
Hwang Minhyun is about to finally announce P09 after an absolutely nail-biting four hours. Poor little Yujin has to go home in literal minutes, so Minhyun has started rushing like crazy.
You watch as Hanbin presses his lips together, wringing his hands as he waits nervously-- Minhyun speeding up the reading of the result greatly as compared to P08-P01.
"The trainee in Ninth Place and therefore taking the final spot in ZeroBaseOne..." Minhyun pauses, because he just can't help himself. "Is..."
"Han Yujin!"
You jump to your feet as all of your fellow trainees do, showing your support for the young boy. But your eyes are still fixed on Hanbin. He's smiling, nodding as he accepts his fate. You think that maybe he knew the chances were slim...
But, as you know all too well, preparation doesn't make it hurt any less.
Seowon rests his head on your shoulder from behind you. "Are we happy? Are we sad?"
You sigh. "Both."
The finale ends and all of the trainees start making their rounds; congratulating your friends or consoling them. You give Kamden a huge hug, joking that now you both can debut together.
The celebration moves backstage as the arena begins to empty. You're jumping up and down with Matthew when you feel a buzz in your pocket.

You look up at Matthew, sighing as you smile apologetically. "I've been summoned."
"Go talk to your boyfriend!" Matthew encourages, pushing you off down the hall. "I'm sure he's eager to see you."
"Right," you mumble, making your way to the door labeled 'East Wing'. "Boyfriend."
You pull the door open, surprised when the hallway is completely empty. You walk forward cautiously, wondering if Hanbin is actually playing some mean prank on you.
"Boo."
You jump, your hand clutching your heart as you try to catch your breath. You turn around to find Hanbin grinning at you.
"Am I really that scary?" He teases. You look down to see a little purple gift bag in his hands.
But the adrenaline is pumping through you now as a result of his little entrance. Not stopping to think it through, you find yourself suddenly laying into him:
"Are you kidding me!? You don't text me for a whole month and you think you can just walk up behind me, give me a heart attack, and then act like nothing's happened?"
Hanbin's head tilts to the side confusedly. "What do you--?"
"I get it-- believe me!" You cut him off. "You don't like me anymore. You like Taerae. That's fine."
"I like Taerae!?"
"I know! I just said I get it. You can like each other all you want. But you could've at least done me the courtesy of texting me and telling me. I was..."
You falter, a lump beginning to build in your throat. Hanbin's just blinking back at you, eyes wide in surprise. "I was really worried about you," you manage to say. "And I missed you. And to find out you didn't give a shit about me the whole time!? I can't believe you, Park Hanbin!"
Taking a breath, you look at Hanbin now. He's biting his lip, corners of his mouth turned up-- clearly trying to keep himself from smiling.
Your brow furrows confusedly. "Why--... Why are you--?"
"God I like you so much," he says, finally breaking out into a grin. "So, so much."
"What?" You ask, taken aback by his unexpected sentiment. "No you don't. You didn't text me for a month!"
"No," Hanbin responds, pressing his lips together. "You didn't text me for a month."
You blink back at him; unsure of what to say. "Wh--... What do you mean?"
"You never gave me your number."
Oh fuck.
"I put mine in your phone before the second elimination, but... you never gave me yours," he explains, visibly enjoying the look of horror and shame that is playing out on your face.
After a long moment, all you can manage to squeak out is: "Oh."
Hanbin's brow raises expectantly. "So is there any of your little spiel before this that you'd like to take back now?"
You nod pitifully. "Yes."
"Which part?"
"All of it," you mumble. "I'm so sorry."
"That's what I thought you'd say," he says with a smirk before his expression softens. "And I'll forgive you."
"Really?" You respond hopefully.
"Of course," Hanbin affirms with a nod. "But..."
"Oh no."
"I just think that if you got to tell me off," he says, giving you a mischievous smile. "Then I should get to tell you off, too."
Your bottom lip tucks between your teeth as you smile sheepishly. "I guess it's only fair, yeah."
Hanbin smiles at you fondly before a melodramatic dramatic anger suddenly shifts his expression. "HOW COULD YOU NOT HAVE TEXTED ME FOR A WHOLE MONTH!? I kept waiting for you to text me or call me or, god forbid Facetime me so I could see your adorable face! I was so worried about you. Not to mention, I missed you so much."
Your heart melts at his words; so ashamed you'd been so silly.
"AND THEN," Hanbin continues, his eyes narrowing. "To hear that you had the time to text Woongki and Kamden and Taerae but not me!? I thought you didn't like me anymore. I was devastated."
He pouts, his brow furrowing cutely as your heart pounds in your chest. You ask quietly, "Why didn't you just ask someone for my number?"
"BE. CAUSE," he sighs dramatically, emphasizing each syllable. "I didn't want to seem clingy or anything."
You throw your arms around Hanbin, unable to hold back any longer. Squeezing him tightly, you feel him reciprocate the embrace-- one arm snaked around your waist and the other holding your back comfortingly.
"So you're not dating Taerae?"
"Ew, no. I'm not dating Taerae," he says with a laugh, pulling back from the hug to see your face. "Taerae's just the one person I was confiding in about you. I didn't want any of the other trainees gossiping too much about you."
"Of course," you say sadly. You should've known Hanbin had actually just been trying to protect you.
Hanbin holds out the purple gift bag to you now with a smile. "Taerae actually told me that you'd mentioned you liked that salad shoppe we went to for lunch last week. I actually got you a gift card after we ate when Kamden said you couldn't come that day."
"You are the sweetest ever... and I'm an idiot," you say, shaking your head as you continue to grip onto each other for dear life. "But I have to go now."
"What?" He asks, brow furrowing confusedly. "What do you mean? Where are you going? I'm coming with you."
Lacing your fingers in his, you begin to pull him with you down the hallway and back towards the dressing room area.
"I owe the new main vocalist of ZeroBaseOne a little apology."
“Eh, I think he can wait,” Hanbin says suddenly, smirking as he stops walking. You try to keep pulling him forward, but he’s fixed to the floor like a stone statue. Curse those perfect dancer muscles.
“Hanbinnie,” you whine, stepping towards him with a pout.
“(Y/N),” he says softly, giving your arm a small tug until your faces are inches apart. He seems to admire you for a moment, studying every inch of your face until his lips are on yours.
You’re lost in the moment, arms wrapping around his neck to bring him closer to you. You don’t even consider where you are or who could see you and take a picture and ruin both of your careers. You’re too busy finally kissing Hanbin after a whole month of absolute insanity. And it's everything you'd wished for and more...
“Oh my god,” a voice calls behind you. “What do you think you’re doing!?”
Entirely caught off guard, you’re immediately set into panic mode. You detach every part of your body from Hanbin’s and jump at least two feet away from him.
“APOLOGIZING TO TAERAE!” You shout the first thing that pops into your head before turning around to see who is watching you.
Taerae frowns, brow furrowing nervously. “You… You’re apologizing to me by making out with Hanbin?”
You and Hanbin turn to look at each other, equally shocked by being caught. After a moment, you both turn back to Taerae and nod; simultaneously answering, “Yes.”
Taerae stares at you for a second before finally shrugging:
“Apology accepted.”

It all started with a single innocent statement that you blurted out when you were having dinner after 4 months of not meeting each other, it was about him not having enough time for you. It was not meant to hurt him. It was not meant to make him feel like shit. But it did. He snapped, slamming his hands on the glass dinner table. "You knew what you were in for when you started dating me. I am trying so hard to make time for you, and here you are complaining. You never understand! Not even TRY to understand, what can you do other than just fucking complain for fucks sake!" The fork fell from your Hands, shocked at his sudden outburst. The tears streamed down. But he didn't acknowledge them. He stood up from his chair, washed his hands, and rushed out of the house.
Leaving his food untouched. Leaving you broken. Leaving the tears that were streaming down your face astray instead of hugging you and kissing them away.

You knew how much he loved you. Despite that, you often had second doubts, doubts about if you mistook his pity for Love. Perhaps he just wanted to experience dating a fan or something else. You kept thinking these irrational and illogical theories that fed your insecurities. You were a bold one, not afraid to speak up and punch someone if you were treated badly but that did not put an end to your endless self hating thoughts whenever you looked at the mirror. When you started dating him, you knew some people might hate it. You did care but for the sake of him you pretended not to. But when you asked a question on a fateful night to your supposedly loving, caring and supportive boyfriend the last thing you wanted him was to get mad. The question was sad but simple. "You still love me right?" He was staring at the ceiling overwhelmed with thoughts when you asked this question. He jumped up. Startling you. "Goodnss fucking sake y/n! If you think I don't love you then fucking think that! I can't give you validation anymore. Especially when I myself am suffering because of you." He said the last part in a whisper before grabbing his car keys then leaving the house slamming the door behind. You choked back a sob, brain not processing what just happned.
Holding his hoodie close and inhaling his scent, well, all that was left behind.

"You know I hate him! Why do you keep talking to him? Oh I know, because I told you not to. Isn't it?" He barked. "No! That's not it, Binnie, please listen. Calm down. I just wanted to buy flowers then he suddenly appeared and tried to force himself on me. I did not say anything." "You know what, I don't trust you. Not anymore." Saying that he got up from the couch and trailed towards your shared room. You exhaled heavily. Finally feeling the tears on your face as you texted your mother to let her know that you'll be visiting her. Then, collapsed on the ground, finally letting the sobs rack your body.
You wanted him to come and hug you and say 'I love you' but you weren't sure if he ever was going to say that again after today.

5 dates. Today marks the 5th date he missed because of her. Because of Sua, his friend of a year. It's not like he had no friends. You still didn't understand why he was her friend. You sighed, not even bothering to call him. Since you know he's going to say she probably has her 69th breakup of the year, and if you try to argue he will try to defend himself and you'll melt with a single 'I love you' as what happened in the previous 4 dates. The cold darkness of your shared apartment greeted you. You wanted to call your best friend Lia, but weren't sure if she'd appreciate it. Sitting down in the corner in your bedroom in fetal position and cried. Don't know for how long but just cried. Soon you heard the door open, "Baby!" A familiar voice called out. Ah, you forgot to lock the door. He soon entered the bedroom and gasped in shock to see your state. "What happened baby?" Concern filling his eyes. You wanted to render it all fake but you couldn't. "You missed out on another date" your muffled voice alerted him. "I'm so so sorry baby, I forgot again. It just that Su-" "Sua had another breakup didn't she? Of coarse her breakups are specifically on the days of our dates. It's not like she doesn't have anymore friends. If you want to comfort her so badly why don't you go and date her! Im pretty sure she needs you again, im pretty sure she just went through another breakup by the time you reached here!" You snapped. "What was I supposed to do huh? Would you abandon Lia for the sake of a single date?!" ""Single? It was not a single date Hyunjin, it was 5 fucking dates! I would never Abandon Lia but that's not the problem, the problem is that nowadays you spent all of your time with her! Feels like she's your girlfriend and I'm your best friend!" "She obviously needed me! Would Lia not come if you asked her to?" "Stop bringing her into this argument!" "I wil, only when you stop acting so...Selfish. no, you are already selfish!" A slap echoed throughout the room. Tears sprung free. "Selfish for what? Wanting to Spend time with my boyfriend?" You asked him. As you got your coat and unlocked the door. "I'll be at Lia's" You ignored his calls and left. Screaming after going some distance earning weird looks from people.
You just wished you could rewind time.

Let me take care of you - Billy Russo x reader
Tumblr media
Word count: 870
Warnings: smut, fingering, the whole thing
The rain pattered against the window of your bedroom, tiny droplets racing each other as they dragged along the glass pane. You felt warm, comfortable in the blanket that wrapped around you and Billy as you laid together on the couch, watching some movie he’d turned on for the night. It was a rare sight to behold, Billy not fidgeting or tapping his foot or even playing with his fingers as he sat with you. His restlessness and anxiety were something you had gotten used to in the time you spent with him, though you always longed for the moment he could fully relax and not worry about anything.
Billy’s body relaxed against yours, his breath tickling the back of your neck, and you slightly squirmed in his hold as his grip on you tightened. His intentions, at that moment, were completely pure. That was until his hands began wandering below your waistline, warm fingers traveled underneath your sweatpants, causing the hair on your legs to stand up.
“Easy,” you murmured, subconsciously moving your body to allow him better access.
He chuckled and nestled his face further into the crook of your neck, “It doesn’t seem like you really want me to stop, darlin’.”
You sighed and sank father back into him, resting your head on your shoulder as you allowed his hand to travel the curves of your body. His hand moved to tease you, rubbing your clit through your panties, feeling the wetness seep through the fabric as you tried to press your legs together. Billy kept your legs pried apart with his other hand, attacking your neck with a trail of messy kisses.
“Billy-” you whined.
“Shh,” he started, “Just relax sweetheart. Let me take care of you,”
You felt a knot start to unravel in the pit of your stomach, traveling through your body, creating a dull pain in the lower half of your body. Your chest felt heavy with breaths, sweat beading in small drops, falling in the valleys of your body. You felt your muscles tense as you came, Billy’s fingers scooping up some of your release and bringing it to his mouth, groaning as he tasted how desperate you were for him.
He used his hands to bring you closer to him, carefully positioning you so that you straddled his lap. His breaths were coming out faster, hot on your face and they smelled of the whiskey he had at dinner with a trace of cigarette smoke. Your hips desperately chased for some sort of friction, dragging mindlessly along Billy’s, feeling his bulge grow with every movement you made.
“Billy-” you whined.
“What do you want, sweetheart? C’mon, you gotta tell me,” he smirked.
You sighed and brought your hands up his chest, bunching up the material of his shirt between your fists, “Please, Bill, I just need you in me.”
He smiled, running his hand up your side, tucking some of the hair that had fallen in front of your face behind your ear, “See, honey? All you had to do was ask.”
Achingly slow, he brought your shirt above your head, using his other hand to keep you stable on his lap. He pushed his sweatpants down his legs, pulling his already hard cock out of his boxers, the tip already an angry red and leaking. You pulled your underwear off of your legs, positioning yourself above him, guiding him into your entrance. Both of you let out a breathy sigh as you sank down, adjusting to his size, which was something you found yourself having to do every time even though you’d been together for years.
You felt full. That was something you noticed, too. Every time you had Billy, you felt like had found a missing part of yourself. It wasn’t that you couldn’t be independent, but you just loved the way he made you feel.
It wouldn’t be much longer now, you felt the nerves in your body begin to shoot through you, resting in the pit of your stomach like a balloon about to pop. you heard yourself whining louder as Billy went on, your cunt squeezing around him, signaling that you were about ready to fall over the edge. Billy groaned as he felt you cum over his, grabbing your hips tighter, and fucking into you deeper than before. Once it felt like he had reached the tip of your cervix, you felt him let go. Long, hot, ropes of his release shooting through you.
Your breathing slowed as you both came down, bodies hot and covered in a thin layer of sweat, your hair sticking to your arms as you tried to pull your shirt over you again. Billy’s eyes never left your body, they studied your face after every movement, like he was waiting for your expressions and what you were going to say.
“What?” you said.
“Nothin’” he smiled.
His hands traveled up the curves of your body again, this time with more love and affection, his thumbs drawing little circles around the middle of your ribs. You turned around, not bothering to put your pants back on, falling into Billy’s gentle hold and watching the credits begin to roll on the TV.
