You don’t recognize where you are at first, it takes you a second to figure it out.
Trees all around you in the dark, soft rustling as gentle winds blow through the forest.
You’re there again.
You know what’s coming, you start moving before you hear the first branch snap.
There’s a murderer in the woods, and he wants to kill you.
You gasp for air, chest burning, trying to be as quiet as possible as you search.
Search? What were you looking for?
You pause, holding your breath to quiet your sounds so that you can listen for footsteps.
There.
He’s not far behind and he’s coming faster.
You keep moving, hoping that you’re going to find what you’re looking for around the next bend of trees.
It takes you a while, what feels like forever, of searching, of hiding, of running.
You find him, drinking out of a shallow puddle of water, his back to you.
He turns when you approach.
“Help.” You say to the panther, the only predator worth trusting, “I need your help.”
The panther is calm, though with every beat of your heart you can hear the crunching of footsteps near approaching.
The sleek animal approaches calmly, until he’s almost by your side.
A gun cocks behind you, and you turn suddenly.
You see him, the hunter, more clearly than you ever did before, a bitter scent in your nose, telling you that there’s fear, heavy in the air.
Gun raised, and you lunge.
His vocal cords are torn out first, you make sure not to go too deep, you want him to feel this, every moment of it. His blood is metallic on your tongue, and you hear the way blood rushes into his lungs.
He tries to raise the gun, and his arm is next. The feeling of flesh and bone crunching between your teeth shouldn’t be as satisfying as it is. You comfort yourself with the notion that he chose this, that he attacked first.
He doesn’t do much more than lie there after that, and in a few minutes, his breathing stops, maybe with the loss of blood, maybe by drowning in it.
You turn away, going back to the little puddle you were at before, only now it’s a large pond.
You drink greedily from the water, desperate to wash the taste of blood from your mouth, and when the water settles, it’s not your reflection staring back at you, it’s the panther’s.
You’re calm about it, feeling like a passenger in someone else’s body, you walk into the water, feeling a body that is not yours, surrounded by the cool waters.
It’s strange, as you feel the way the fur on the surface of your skin gets wet, a sensation you’ve never felt before.
You can feel the gentle current of the water as you swim, you know which way you’re going, not with just your eyes, but with your entire body.
You look up, shaking your head, the stars in the sky dancing just for you.
You feel at peace here, despite what you’ve just done, the memory of it fading in lieu of your current, unfamiliar experience.
Something inside you settles, no longer agitated by your past experiences, in the dark forest, under the night sky, an acceptance overcomes you.
You were the panther now.
.
You yawn, pressing the heels of your hands against your eyes and then running them back to press against your temples.
You try to refocus on your laptop screen, but the words are all jumbled and you have trouble focusing on them.
You groan, dropping your head onto your desk, really not wanting to work anymore for today.
It was funny, because you’d basically fought to convince Billy you were okay this morning, getting dressed and waiting patiently at his front door.
When he’d seen you waiting for him, he’d looked so confused.
“It’s really okay if you want to wait a few more days.” He’d said, trying to encourage you to stay in his home alone.
Which was something you really didn’t want to do.
At least not so soon.
“I can do it.” You’d said with a lot more confidence in your voice than you’d actually felt. You didn’t understand why you were pushing so hard.
It had taken a few solid minutes to convince him that you would be okay, and then he’d fixed his mouth into a displeased line for a moment, before accepting.
And then he’d done the most shocking thing.
He’d cupped your face in both hands, big and warm and gentle on your face, his eyes desperate for something his mouth had yet to ask.
“Can I kiss you?”
Four words that had rushed into your head and made your knees wobble.
You’d swallowed nervously, before responding in the affirmative.
It was the softest, hottest, most toe curling kiss you’d ever experienced, and it had only been a few seconds before he was leaning away and leading you to his car with your heart slamming in your throat and vibrating in your chest.
It was danger unlike anything you’ve ever experienced.
Now though, you sigh, standing to grab yourself another cup of coffee, your body fatigued for reasons you didn’t know.
You just had to get through the day. The weekend was near, and you’d have plenty of time then to think about Billy Russo and his kisses.
You find yourself  smiling like a lunatic into your third cup of coffee.
A text comes in from Amy, asking how you're doing, and you try to answer as honestly as possible.
Every waking moment was scary, you didn't know whether you were being watched or not, if someone would just pop up from some obscure place and try to hurt you.
They could be someone who you'd worked with before, or even, someone working with you right now.
You press your fingers to your mouth anxiously, looking around, trying to figure out if you could notice anyone acting suspicious.
When someone looks at you, probably noticing your stares, you stand abruptly, a searing pain in your chest as you rush out of the room.
Your heart was pounding, trying to keep your head down as you try not to race past people. Everyone that looked at you was another suspect on your list.
You try to regulate your breathing, sharp and shallow is the best you can do as the sounds around you blend into one another, into a hum that buzzes in your head, making you want to scream.
You don't realize where you are until you barge into his office unannounced and see his face.
He's not alone, two other well-dressed men in the room with him, turning to look at you, their eyes like spotlights, making you freeze.
You don’t remember how you got here, your mouth parting in hopes that an explanation will just fall out.
“Let’s put a pin in this for now.” Billy says pulling the attention of both men to him, he nods decisively before speaking again.
“We’ll pick up again tomorrow, it’ll give me a chance to finalise some details for you.”
You turn away in shame, looking into the far end of the room as the men stand, nodding in agreement, and turning to the door.
You politely step to the side, and offer them a small smile of apology as they walk past you and through the door.
As soon as the door closes, you turn to face him, finding that he’s almost to you anyway.
“I’m so sorry,” You whisper to him in a distressed voice, “I didn’t mean to interrupt or cause you any trouble.”
“Shhh,” He soothes, bringing his hands up to cup your cheeks, “It’s alright. Did something happen?”
You close your eyes when the smell of him reaches you. His body is so close and yet so achingly far away.
“I’m- I don’t know I was working and-” You pause to take a deep breath, raising your hands to wipe at your eyes, “I don’t know what’s going on.”
You gasp, avoiding his gaze as tears pool in your eyes and threaten to fall.
“I don’t know what’s wrong with me.” You whisper, disoriented, unable to focus, your head so foggy with the worst parts of yourself.
You didn’t want to cry again, didn’t want to manipulate him into giving you comfort. You felt so badly for needing him over and over again.
“I’m sorry.” You try again, wanting to be the strong woman you once were.
He says your name softly, and it only succeeds in making your lip tremble.
“This is normal, sweetheart. This is an absolutely normal way to be feeling given the circumstance.” He soothes.
It’s like you don’t hear him, or more like his words aren’t registering in your head.
“I’m so damaged,” You lament, “Broken beyond repair. Maybe I’ve always been, maybe- maybe that’s why no one has ever really wanted me.”
.
He can’t breathe.
There’s so much he wants to say, but the words stick like tar in his throat.
How could you think no one wants you? When I’ve been searching for you for years? When my soul has been aching for yours long before I understood that souls could ache, or that I even had a soul to begin with?
Why would you want me? Billy thinks finally.
He swallows, too afraid of his own self reflection, blinking to reorient himself to your distressed state.
Out loud, he simply says, “Come here.”
Guiding you along, his hands gripped in yours, he takes you around his desk.
“Get under.” He says softly, watches your distress turn to confusion.
You look perplexed for a moment, before you do as he says. Billy watches you step out of your heels, and crawl under his desk, pulling your knees up to your chest and looking up at him with a sniffle.
He smiles reassuringly at you, moving quickly to his couch to grab the large grey throw blanket  and the two pillows sitting there.
He returns to the desk, reaching into the mini fridge beside it to pull out a tiny crate of fresh strawberries he’d had delivered earlier in the day just for you, and then he gets to work.
The first thing he does is toss the blanket over part of his table and over his office chair, anchoring it with whatever is heaviest to make sure it doesn’t slip off the table, sliding the pillows under the makeshift fort.
The next thing he does is shed his jacket and shoes, rolling up his sleeves and pulling his tie off without much thought.
He dims the light in his office, making sure that it's soothing enough, listening to your heartbeat slow a little as he makes the environment a bit more comfortable.
Then, he kneels, crawling under his desk as well, fitting his large body into the free space, tucking pillows behind his back and pulling your curled body against his.
You don’t speak until he presses the little tray of strawberries into your hands.
“What… are we doing?” You ask curiously.
“We’re hiding.” Billy answers, as if the answer is the most obvious one in the world.
“Hiding from what?”
“Ourselves.”
.
Your lip wobbles again, but this time for a completely different reason.
How could one person be so understanding of you?
You close your eyes, resting your head against his shoulder, smiling as he elaborates on his last words.
“Take all those bad feelings in your head and leave them outside. In here, it’s just you, me, and strawberries.”
You smile, reaching for the fruit in question, raising it to your lips.
Delicious, as always, juicy, and tart on your tongue.
You let out a blissful sigh, feeling your body reorient itself in your universe.
“I like strawberries.” You say calmly, taking another bite of the sweet fruit.
He hums, and the sound vibrates in your ear with how close he is.
“Yeah? What else do you like?”
“Bunnies.” You answer without another thought.
“Bunnies are very cute.” He agrees.
“What do you like?” You echo to him.
“Cats.” He says simply.
“Love cats.” You say with a soft nod.
“What about flowers, do you like flowers?”
“Mhmm,” You respond mid chew, swallowing to respond to him, “Gladioli, wisteria, coneflowers, lily of the valley. They’re beautiful. The forest where- uh- where Amy, Dani and I camped, would have some amazing flowers during the spring. Sometimes we’d find a nice spot and have a picnic. I was always in charge of getting the fruits and wines.”
“That sounds amazing. What made you start going there in the first place?”
You smile, deep in thought.
“My dad had taken us up once, and I’d loved every minute of it, but after that, he never did again, despite how badly or how much I begged, and no one else at the time had any interest in going with me and I didn’t want to go alone, so years passed with me never going. Dani was the first person I’d met who loved the outdoors as much as me, and by sheer pestering, Amy agreed to come with us after college, and it’s just been a thing since then. A few days there each spring was the best feeling in the world.”
“That first time you went,” Billy murmurs, “We might have been up there at the same time.”
You turn to look at him finally, his close proximity to you, his mouth directly in your line of sight, his soft breath brushing your cheek.
“I wish I’d met you. We might have been friends.”
He nods in easy agreement, as if he has no hesitations about it.
.
When your bodies ache from being in the same place for so long, you finally crawl out, giggling at the antics it takes, to get to your feet.
One of your legs tingle from lack of proper circulation, and you lean against his desk for support, watching him reach to put his shoes back on.
When he’s done, he kneels before you, to your absolute surprise, grabbing your little heels, and holding one out for you expectantly.
Your body feels so charged with electricity, lifting one foot up to let him slip your shoe on, and doing the same for the other foot.
He rises to his feet before you, and you go from looking down at him, to looking up, his body so close to yours, and yet still not touching.
He brings his hand around your body, gripping your hip as he slots himself against you.
Your lips part automatically, addicted to the look in his eyes, the promise written in them.
“Can I kiss you?” Billy hums, his other arm rising to trail the back of his hand across your cheekbone softly.
“Yes.” You answer eagerly, tilting your head up, praying for his mouth to any god that was willing to listen.
The corner of his mouth twitches, before he gets even closer, your body pressed firmly to his as he lowers his head, fingers sliding under your chin to encourage you to tilt your head higher.
Your eyes shut eagerly as his lips brush yours. A spark like no other igniting within you.
You gasp at the gentleness of it, at the need in your body, chasing his mouth as he pulls back.
His lips are so soft, full, he drops his head, sealing your mouths together.
You tilt your head, pulling back and smiling as you feel his mouth follow, a dance so desperate between you that it shouldn’t be this slow.
His beard scratches your cheek, tickles your lips, and you love every second of it.
You part your lips, eagerly swiping your tongue against his bottom lip and you hear him groan softly.
He pressed his forehead to yours to stop your kiss, breathing laboured.
“You’re playing with my sanity.” He whispers, pulling a smile from you.
He cups your face swiftly, pressing his mouth passionately to yours once more. You make a little sound of bliss, one hand trailing up to grip his shoulder.
.
He doesn’t know how he does it, but he forces himself to stop.
He doesn’t want to push you into anything you’re not ready for, and for once in his life, the panther agrees.
Ever since you’d asked to take it slow, the beast had stopped tormenting him with imagery of having you, concerned primarily with making sure you felt safe. The smell of your distress in the air constantly worried him. He wanted your comfort above everything else.
Love could wait.
After work on Friday, you ask him politely if it would be possible to take you over to your friend’s place. He doesn’t say no. He makes sure to reassure you that you’d be safe going there, and encourages you when you look unsure.
This would be good for you, some semblance of normalcy in your life.
He keeps all his senses on high alert, listening for any sign that you might be being watched.
There’s nothing, and he wonders for a moment if the stalker knows to avoid him, if there’s some possibility that they know who he is- what he is.
He blinks, tilting his head deep in thought at the possibility, reminding himself to ask Dinah about it later.
Your friends are happy to see you, pulling you into a dual embrace the moment they can.
Billy stays back, an amused smile on his face. The apartment is full of various scents, sage and turmeric, a hint of cinnamon, and most importantly, the scent of a feline.
The sound of little jingles grow louder, emphasised by each little step, Billy finds himself smiling as the gorgeous grey maine coon comes into view.
He’s large for his breed and suspicious at first, at least until he senses the panther inside Billy. The next thing he knows is the cat is weaving figure eights around his legs.
He looks up to find all three women staring at him in surprise.
“How did you do that?” Amy asks, “Loki doesn’t usually take to strangers.”
Billy only lifts a shoulder, pretending to be as confused as everyone else was.
“It’s true,” You explain, “It took him months to even want to sit in the same room with me.”
The best he can do is pretend to be surprised that the cat is nice to him.
When they gather on the couch and invite him to sit as well, he accepts, sitting beside you, a small distance away to respect whatever boundaries you wanted.
You hadn’t spoken about it. Were you dating? Was this just a friendship? He didn’t think friends would kiss the way you kissed.
Maybe it was a- what were the kids calling it? A situationship?
He didn’t like the concept of it.
He couldn’t worry about that now anyway, he thinks to himself as he watches you talk excitedly to your friends, he admires your hair, the look in your eyes as you speak, so expressive and wonderful in every way imaginable, his only concern right now, was making you feel comfortable in the world around you once more.
Something distracts him- a large weight pouncing into his lap.
He turns his head in surprise, the big green eyes of the maine coon staring back at him.
Loki uses his little paws to climb Billy’s chest, so that he can rub the top of his furry head on Billy’s chin, the panther humming happily as the feline admires him.
He drops his head respectfully, letting him rub his head against Billy’s, a formal greeting.
When the cat is satisfied, it flops over, belly up and stares at Billy expectantly.
Billy chuckles inwardly, accepting the offer to scratch Loki’s tummy, admiring the soft fur of his underbelly.
He blinks, looking up realising that everyone has gone quiet, to find all eyes on him once more, the sweet scent of arousal in the air.
“What have you done to my cat?” Amy asks in disbelief.
“I guess he just likes me.” Is all Billy can say.
Later, as he waits by the door as you bid your friends goodbye, he overhears Dani with his panther hearing, asking if  you and him were a couple now.
He holds his breath, waiting for the answer, looking down as you turn to look at him, pretending that he can’t hear the way your heart picks up in your chest.
“I don’t even know. I can’t help thinking that the only reason we’re close is because he feels sorry for me.”
He can feel his chest just split in half at the very thought of it.

part 1, part 2, part 3
You weren’t sure what you were expecting after your conversation with Steve if you could even call it that. It had been a couple of weeks and surely but surely you had started warming up to him again, it started with small nods in his direction as a greeting but that soon moved into small conversations. It had been a slow and torturous process for Steve, but he knew just as well as you did that, he was nowhere near even being able to exercise the ability to complain about his situation after what he had put you through.
The real heartbreak hit him when he realised, you’d been looking for apartments and job hunting, for some reason he had assumed that although you no longer joined the avengers for meeting briefings and were off the last few missions, you were just taking a break. Evidently, he was quite wrong, you had been spending your time responding to ‘work-related’ emails regarding a company called Anvil run by Billy Russo.
Now, Steve hardly kept up with any news that was not regarding his position as Captain America and very loosely he kept up with the NFL, so he knew next to nothing about Billy Russo until he was listening to your conversation with Tony in the kitchen.
You had walked in to make your breakfast and just as Steve and you had good morning to one another, Tony strolled through the open door on the phone with Pepper, adamantly in an argument with something to do with Tony’s public appearance at some gala.
“Pep-honey-, yes I understand but-“ Tony rolls his eyes and what Pepper says next and as you make your way to give him some privacy, he holds up his hands to make you wait and as your quirk an eyebrow, you lean against the kitchen counter waiting for the conversation to end. “Fine! Whatever you want! Just please don’t seat me next to that mayor” he pauses “yes! That one! He always smells like cheese” Tony shivers and you and Steve share a quick smile of amusement before you look away with flaming cheeks.
Tony hangs up the call and looks at you with a sly smile.
“Anvil huh?” he asks as he makes his way around you and Steve to the coffee machine, with a quick good morning to Steve, he looks at you expectantly.
“Oh, come off it Stark, I put in my two week notice ages ago, knowing Friday, he probably already told you when I applied” you reply with a joking eyeroll.
An automated voice floods through the system and you nearly jump out of your skin” I would never Miss Y/L/N” you’ve still got to get used to that.
“Anvil?” Steve questions tersely with pursed lips, you can’t tell if it’s out of anger or worry.
“Yeah! It’s a private military firm and since I used to be in the Navy, Billy reached out to me and offered me a position as his personal assistant!” you reply enthusiastically and through your excitement, you fail to notice how Steve’s face falls and Tony’s eyes light up with humour.
“Billy huh?” Steve’s strained smile makes you pause for a second before Tony snorts into his coffee and as you turn to glare at him, he shrugs innocently.
“Yes. Billy. He asked me to call him that because we’ll be working together” you reply curtly and fight the urge to lash out at Steve and let him know he has no right to be jealous because he no longer has anything remotely more than friendship connecting the both of you.
“Doesn’t hurt that he’s good looking either” Tony remarks and yelps as you swiftly throw one of the knives near you towards the cupboards right next to his head.
You shake your head and move to leave the kitchen before you turn around to the both of them and remark “I shall now be going to set up a meeting time with my boss if that’s okay with you two idiots?” you smile sarcastically, and Tony just waves you off.
Steve frowns as he watches you leave with an ugly feeling of jealousy bubbling underneath his skin, he glares at the counter in front of him before his anger is interrupted by Tony’s voice floating through the silent room.
“You know, you were her boss once” he remarks, after he had comforted you as you sobbed in his arms, he had been particularly harsh and unwelcoming to Steve even though you had spoken to him about Steve trying to work whatever your relationship with him was.
“I’m aware” Steve responds as he grits his teeth whilst fighting the urge to break the granite counter under his fingertips. He scoots his chair out as he makes his way to ask Bucky to train with him, he’s got some anger to work out and Bucky is realistically the only person that could handle his full super soldier strength pummeling at them.
You had successfully set a meeting time to go over your contract with Billy with his current personal assistant since she’d be taking her maternity leave in the next couple of weeks.  Your mind had kept wondering to Steve’s reaction to you getting a new job, you understood his jealousy all too well since that wasn’t even the beginning of your deep-rooted jealousy and insecurities that affected you by Steve’s relationship with Sharon.
Still, you knew that it was no longer your responsibility to worry about his own emotions and how he coped with them. You no longer felt complied to comfort him whenever you saw his sorrowful longing gaze towards you whenever you walked into a room, or when hurt and pain flashes through his gaze whenever you referred to him as ‘Rogers’ in front of the others.
Meanwhile in the training room, instead of focusing on the hand-to-hand combat Steve had asked Bucky to help him with, he was basically interrogating his friend.
“What do you know about some guy called Billy Russo?” Steve panted as he tried to dodge Bucky’s jabs as he moves swiftly and quickly around the mat.
“Not much mate, just that he’s stinking rich for his age- hey! stop fucking jumping around like a goddamn bunny punk” Bucky huffs out at Steves insistent buoyancy.
“I’m just light on my feet!” Steve defends.
“Yeah, if you were on a fucking bouncy castle” Bucky rolls his eyes and winces as he doesn’t dodge Steve’s punch in time.
“Is he good looking?” Steve asks and Bucky has to pause to look at his friend with a weird expression. Steve just stands there with a serious expression and widens his eyes as if to say go on.
“Sure pal, the dude’s good looking, he was in that fuckin Forbes magazine for Millionaires under 30” Bucky says and watches as Steve loses focus, Bucky aims for his weak spot on his right shoulder and watches as his best friend collapses onto the mat, out of breath.
“What’s with all the questions punk?” Bucky frowns as he holds his hand out for Steve to take and as he pulls him up, he watches as his friend’s winces at the question.
“Y/N is going to work for him” Steve says and Bucky nods with a pitying smile on his face that Steve hates. He doesn’t want pity, he wants to fix this, except he doesn’t know how.
You’ve never looked better the past couple of weeks after yours and Steve’s separation, it’s almost as Steve was constantly sucking the life out of you and now you looked just as good as the first day, he met you.
He hates the idea of you going out into public and working under someone else just for someone to see what he once saw in you, now that he knew that you were unattainable for him at the current time but attainable for people like Billy fuckin Russo made him feel closer to possessive and feral than he’s ever felt.
“Then we’ve got work to do mate” Bucky slaps a hand on his shoulder as he maneuvers him out of, the room, chatting away about a plan to win y/n back. Steve is hardly listening and is planning to kill Billy Russo in 300 different ways before he’s even able to think about having a chance with you.

Bond to Happen Master List
Billy Russo wasn't expecting to befriend the strange witch he'd hired to keep an eye out for his company. He definitely hadn't expected to care about her. That hadn't been part of the plan. A plan he was quickly having to rewrite as things spiraled out of control. He needed to be free of Rawlins once and for all, no matter the cost. Frank could never find out about Kandahar and everything that had happened leading up to his family's death. Billy was going to figure out how to keep his money, his power, and what was left of his family. This witch would be Billy's ace up his sleeve. He just needed to make sure she was bound to his side first.

Hmmm comforting headcanons...
Billy always presses his fingers in firmly when he hugs, like he needs that extra pressure to keep his loved ones close and his. Short hugs are not a thing. There's always a deep sigh, even if you have to strain to catch it, that signals he's about to force himself to let go. He gives the best hellos as a result.
Eric absolutely positively *hates* it when his girl cries, especially when there's nobody to fight. Instead of going on a futile rampage he uses his stillness to stay right where he's needed, like a rock, until it's time to shake off the blues. It's a hard won but much appreciated skill.
Kylo always shares the first and last bite. Seeing the simple pleasure it gives makes him feel like a better provider than just his size would indicate. He also makes lists of what he enjoys or loves and leaves them to be found, though he'll read them aloud in a rumble voice after much persuasion.
Cobb is the best listener, everybody goes to him for advice. But what usually happens is he listens and then tells a story about them that reaches the core of their personality/values. And before you know it they've figured out what they to do without him telling them how things should go. He's famous for it.
That's all I've got for now ❤️❤️❤️
😭😭😭 these are perfect and now I legit want a hug from Billy and I'm not even a hug person hahahah
Thank you!

Sneak peak: End of the Line
Tumblr media
Billy Russo x ofc
Part of my A year of whump w/ comfort and fluff
Summary: after being left for dead, and with no where else to go, an injured and desperate Billy seeks refuge from someone be wronged in his past.
Tumblr media
Kaya’s eyes moved over his face as her brows wrinkled. She could barely recognize him with all the bandages.
“I had nowhere else to go.” Billy confessed weakly, desperation in his dark eyes.
Kaya took a deep breath and dragged her eyes back to his. There’s no emotion in them, no sympathy, and the initial shock has melted away. A chill runs down his spine as they stare at eachother in silence.
Billy grabbed his side. His wound is throbbing, traveling all this way may have torn his stitches, he’s not sure, but it feels like hell.
The blank emotionless look on her face morphs to something else, to a quiet simmering rage behind her eyes.
If she took a step back and slammed the door in his face, he’d understand that; hell, he deserved it.
Billy used the one favor he had left to drag himself to an underground clinic and get patched up, but they kicked him out after and left him to fend for himself.
With no friends left, no connections, and no one to intimidate into helping him, this is the only place he thought to go. Even if she said no, it was worth a try. But from the way her eyes are shooting daggers into him, he’s sure this is going to end with a door slamming in his face.
“You think you can just show up on my doorstep, after what you did?” She seethed.
Kaya heard he was dead. But here he is, broken, beaten, and bangaged, silently pleading for help with his eyes.
Billy pushed against the wall to stand up straight. He groans and uses his bandaged hands to slip the hoodie back over his head, it instantly casts a shadow over his face.
Kaya steps out of the doorframe and pushed a finger into his chest,
“You’re lucky I don’t kill you where you stand!”
Another tense moment passed, and Billy decided rather than face her justifiable wrath, he’ll drag himself out of here and figure something out.
Billy turned with some effort, and started to walk away. He took two steps, her eyes burning into him like lasers. With a labored breath, he takes another before his knees give out beneath him. He’s still recovering from the blood loss and getting here is the longest he’s traveled, or walked in a while.
As he started falling to the ground, Kaya sighed and rushed over to him. She roughly grabbed his arm, pulled him up, and led the way to her open door.
“Just - come inside.” She guided him to the doorway and led them both inside.“Can you walk now?”

Just some Dom Frank smut that I've had in my wips for ages 😊
Tumblr media
Frank Castle x female reader (with some Billy Russo x reader at the very beginning)
You've got a friends-with-benefits thing going on with Billy and realise you have a little kink which he's not really into, but he has a solution...
Warnings: choking kink, praise, pet names, p in v sex, teasing, begging. Please reblog if you enjoyed so that others may do the same! Please! Thank you 😊
Billy is fucking you hard, driving himself deeper and deeper with every punishing, sinful thrust of his hips, making you lose yourself almost completely. He brings his hand up to caress the side of your face and you arch into his touch as he skims it down the side of your neck to your chest where he pinches and teases your nipples. He grins wickedly, diving down mouthing and grazing his teeth over the plush skin of your tits as you moan. You grasp for his wrist, dragging his hand back up to your neck, whimpering as you can feel your peak drawing ever closer when his fingertips brush over your throat.
But Billy gently draws his hand away. "Scotch." He says. His safeword.
Your eyes widen as the word hits your ears and you try to calm your breathing as you both slow down and come to a stop.
"Oh Billy, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to…"
"It's okay, kitten." He replies, carefully pulling out and laying down beside you. "I guess we never covered that particular area." He smiles but you still feel awful for trying to get him to do something to you that he isn't entirely comfortable with.
"I- I didn't really know I liked it, until just then… but I'm still sorry, I should have asked you first regardless."
“It's alright, don't worry about it. But hey, I'm glad you've discovered a new kink!" You share a smile as he cuddles you into his arms and kisses you sweetly.
You and Billy had been friends with benefits for a few months now. You were both currently single and relished the opportunity to cut almost completely loose with each other. You found each other attractive, had a lot of fun, and most importantly it was a much-needed tension release after a stressful work day where you just wanted someone else to take control and make you feel good.
Later on that evening he came to you with an unexpected proposal.
"I feel so shitty about leaving you hanging like that before, so I was wondering if you might be cool with me setting you up with a good friend of mine. I think he'd be able to give you what you need, maybe a little bit more than I can?”
You look up from your phone, rapt and curious at the suggestion. "Billy, are you for real? You'd really do that for me?"
He looks surprised that you'd think he wouldn't. "’course I will baby, I just want to see you happy! If you like I'll tell him all your preferences. He'll only go as hard as you want, and you can play here at my place if it makes you feel safer. I'd be there in the next room if you needed me, but Frank's a good guy, he'll take good care of you I promise."
You sit up straighter at the mention of Frank's name. "Wait, it's Frank? You mean your marine buddy Frank?! I didn't know he was into–"
Billy chuckles. "Yeah, not many do. But you like him,” Billy smirks as he teases you, “don't you?"
You give him a sly smile back, he's not wrong. "Well, from what I've seen…" you murmur, thinking about the few times you'd briefly met, once when you went to meet Billy at the gym and Frank came striding out of the showers, shirtless. And then there was the size of his hands…
Billy laughs even louder seeing a dreamy expression cross over your features. "Alright now kitten, don't get all fired up just yet. I'll go see him tomorrow and we'll talk it over okay? See what he says."
You leap into Billy's arms. "You are much too good to me Russo! You know that?"
He nods and kisses the top of your head, still amused. "Yeah, I know."
Frank was apparently very eager to help you out and so Billy arranged a little introductory session for you both at his on the Friday night. Billy had clued you in on what Frank was into as you'd wanted to know, even though this was primarily for your benefit.
"-and you call him 'Sir', yeah?"
You nod. You were melting already.
"Hey girl, think you got a lil bit of drool hanging out the corner of your mouth there…" Billy laughs and you give him a playful punch.
"Shut up! I'm just… a little excited."
"Oh, you should be, baby." You can't help notice Billy's slightly wistful look as he says it. "You're in good hands."
When Friday evening arrives Billy lets you get settled in and informs you that Frank's waiting in his bedroom whenever you're ready. You're slightly nervous but when you open the door and see his large form sitting on the side of the bed suddenly all you feel is a buzz.
"Hey princess, how're you doin'?" He asks in a low drawl along with a smile that makes you want to bark. He looks so damn fine you want to squeal.
Instead you greet him politely, reining in your giddiness and desire. "I'm good thank you, Sir."
Frank grins, a slight chuckle bursting past his lips in a way you found cute. "Did Bill tell you to say that sweetheart? Y'know he's just messin' with you? You can call me Frank if you want."
You return his smile, nodding. "Yes, Sir."
Frank makes a satisfied sound and laughs again, softer this time, his deep brown penetrating gaze making you feel weak at the knees. "Mm, alright. C'mon over here, let me see ya."
Just this simple request has your body feeling like it's ablaze. He stands up as you slowly walk over to him, his eyes running over you like warm honey, taking in the way your soft cotton summer dress hugs your curves, the hem ending just above your mid thigh.
“You're a very beautiful woman.” He says with a note of sincerity and awe, bringing his hand up to gently trace the side of your jaw. You feel the heat flush up into your face.
"What's your safeword honey?"
"Cloud." You reply hazily. You're practically purring already as his fingers graze over your rapidly heating skin.
Frank nods. "That's good, mine's 'bullet'. “How're you feelin' sweetheart?'' he asks, "Think you wanna play some?"
You start to lean into his touch as his thumb strokes across the small smile on your soft lips. "Yeah." You respond, and Frank grunts his approval as you start to lick and suck on his thumb as he gently slides it between your lips.
"Such a good girl. Damn. Bill told me you were needin' a little somethin' extra. S'that right?" he gently probes, and you feel your entire body start to tingle with the anticipation of what he's going to do with you next.
You take the digit deeper into your mouth as he guides you down to kneel in front of him, swirling your tongue around it and hollowing your cheeks to suck just a little while you look up at him with wide eyes.
"Yeah, we're gonna get on real well. How ‘bout we see what else that pretty mouth of yours can do, huh?"
He slowly palms over the noticeable bulge at the crotch of his jeans and you can feel the saliva filling your mouth, dripping out of the corner as he presses his thumb down against your tongue. Yes sir, please sir you think as you nod slowly as he removes it and unbuckles his belt. The clinking sound of it being undone has you soaking into your silky underwear already. This is what you need. Just him to keep telling you what to do, to take complete control of your body and mind and make you feel like nothing else matters.
As he pulls his cock out in front of your face you can't stop your eyes widening and the eager moan that escapes you. He's big, long and thick, and as he strokes himself to full hardness you shift about on your knees, your tongue darting out to wet your lips as you catch sight of a drop of precum leaking from his tip.
"Look at you, so damn perfect an' all ready f'me.”
You push up onto your knees, keeping your hands to yourself until he tells you otherwise, your mouth open and tongue out flat and wide as you wait for him to give you what you're craving. Instruction.
“Yeah, that's right. You know what to do princess."
His cock is mere inches from your mouth, just out of reach. He finally moves forward to rub the head of it over your waiting tongue, moaning as the addictive musky taste of him spreads across it. You slide your mouth on, stretching your lips over the fat head of his dick, closing your eyes as you slowly begin to suck on it.
"Ah-ah sweetheart, look at me. Eyes on me." He corrects, watching you take a little more of him in, beginning to move back and forth and shallowly fuck your mouth as you obey and look back up at him. He groans letting his head fall back as you lap your tongue along the bulging vein on the underside.
"Oh yeah, that's real good baby. Gonna give you some more just like you want, huh?"
You moan your agreement around his impressive girth as you pull back and ready yourself to swallow him deeper. He's gentle at first, he pushing his fingers through your hair, cradling the back of your head lightly as you take him in as far as you can, gagging slightly until you can figure out how to breathe. Your eyes start to water as you gaze up at him. He's telling you that you look so damn pretty, and you feel the wetness between your thighs increase ten fold as his big hand and thick fingers wrap around your throat to guide you.
"Oh- fuck- attagirl, there we go, fuck that's it."
You think he's gonna finish off in your mouth the way he's groaning and grunting fucking your mouth, obviously enjoying the way you're taking him and letting him use you. But you're silently begging him with your eyes not to, because you're throbbing, aching for him to get inside of you, to be able to feel that massive dick fucking you until you can't think thoughts.
Thankfully he slows his movements, pulling out his dick and wiping your messy spit covered chin with his thumb. He lifts you up to your feet and gently pushes you back on the bed where you land with a soft bounce. As you struggle to regain your breath he's chuckling at your gawking stare as he strips out of his clothes revealing his muscular chest, defined rows of abs and thick thighs that you dream of being suffocated between.
"Hope you weren't thinkin’ I was neglectin' that pretty little pussy of yours..."
Of course he knows what you're thinking but you still shake your head. "No sir." you mewl, your body aflame from the way his eyes rove over you. Frank prowls up your body, his hand slipping up under the hem of your dress and gently cupping your mound, middle fingers stroking so teasingly up over your folds through your damp underwear. You yelp as he takes his hand away only to slap your cunt hard, the pleasurable pain jolting through your whole body like an electric shock.
"Don't lie to me."
"N-no sir!" You whimper as he rubs you again through the flimsy fabric, grinning as he feels the fresh flood of your arousal soak his fingers.
"Well shit. Look at that baby. You like sucking cock that much?"
"I like sucking your cock, sir." You pant, trying to grind yourself against his hand for some immediate relief. He lifts it away, slapping your pussy lightly again making you cry out in frustration.
"Gimme a colour sweetheart."
Billy had said that you would be in good hands. You were gonna have to get him a present or something for this.
'G-green!"
"That's a good girl." He smirks, curling his fingers over the waistband of your panties, peeling them down your ass away from your soaking core, and inching them ever so slowly down your trembling thighs.
"Heard you don't like bein' teased, princess…"
Your mind reels wondering where he's going with this, your breath shallow and fast as he bares you to him, tossing your ruined underwear across the bedroom. He kneels on the bed at your feet,
"On your hands and knees f'me."
He commands and you obey. It's that simple. He takes his time appraising you, his fingers drifting over your ass cheeks and carefully rucking up the hem of your dress to your waist.
"Cute." He remarks, noting how your breathing changes as he moves up behind you, his hand resting on your hip. You gasp you feel the firm head of his cock run between the folds of your puffy, sopping cunt. He rubs it up and down the length of your slit, over and over so slowly, and every time you think he's going to sink right in and fill you full he doesn't. You want nothing else so badly but to push back into him, to have him thrust inside and probably split you in half but he hasn't said that you're allowed to.
You want to scream.
"Doin' real good for me, such a good girl."
You shiver at the praise, but you need more, he has to understand how much you need him.
"Yeah, you want me to give you some more don't you? I know, I know sweetheart." He says soothingly while pushing his cock forward between your legs and bumping the head up against your clit. When he draws away yet again you can't stand the tease anymore and you break.
"Fuck, please!" you whine.
Frank smacks his hand down on your ass cheek and you cry out, heat blooming out over your skin as he runs his palm over the stinging spot.
"Please what?" He asks you so casually, as if he's completely ignorant to the fact you're almost dripping wet down the inside of your thighs.
"Please, sir… I-I need it, n-need your cock so bad, please!" You try, staring straight ahead as you dip your back, making your hips tilt up hoping he'll see just how ready you are for more. You breathe out a shaky whimper of relief as you feel the warmth and pressure of his giant hand grip around the back of your neck holding you still as he takes his cock in hand and slides it close to where you're aching for him to shove it. But he doesn't, and he so clearly knows what it's doing to you.
You want this teasing, this cruel punishment and yet can't stop your pathetic sobs of desperation, can't stop the tears from rolling down your flushed cheeks as you plead with him repeatedly.
"Shh-shh c'mon pretty girl, you know I got you." He says shushing you gently. "Deep breaths f'me hm? You good?"
You manage to drag in a shuddering lungful of air so you can tell him you want this, you want him to keep going, keep making you feel.
His fingers grip the back of your neck tighter when he hears your confirmation to continue and finally– he gives you what you need, forcing the thick head of his cock into your needy pussy. You moan and mewl as he stretches you open, despite how wet and ready you thought you were it's still a tight fit and he pauses for a few seconds, feeling you contract around his tip.
"S'that what you need huh? Feel good?"
You groan as he holds himself still, only the first couple of inches of him inside you. Then he moves, so slow that the tears return, running down the drying tracks on your skin as he thrusts gently back and forth, only fucking you with the very tip of his cock. Pushing in and popping out, so painfully slowly, in and out, again and again.
"Mm, that's all you deserve for now baby. That's all you're gettin' till you play nice."
The next time he pulls out he smacks his hard length down against your ass, thrusting himself between the cleft of your cheeks for a while leaving you completely empty. You do nothing, say nothing, just moan and let him use your body until he wants to reward you. And reward you he does…
You inhale sharply as you feel the sudden loss of contact, but then he buries his face in your cunt and starts licking and fucking you with his tongue. He grips firmly around your thighs, pulling you back, flush with his hot mouth as he works you up until your legs are shaking. You gasp as the coil deep inside tightens as he keeps it up, reacting to the increasing pitch and volume of your moans. You're gonna come any second and you know he's not told you that you can, that you're allowed to. You don't know what to do, the feeling is welling up from deep inside, it's getting closer and he won't let up, craning his neck to flick your clit with the tip of his tongue and delve his tongue into the steady stream of slick arousal leaking out of you.
Fuck, god… please, just a little more, so close, it feels so fucking good- almost… there–
Frank stops, pulls away.
You're shaking, crying, your cunt is throbbing.
He stopped.
Suddenly you don't know which way is up, whimpering as he spears you with his cock, sliding all the way into you until you can feel his hip bones hard up against your ass. You twitch and pulse around him at the sensation.
Fuck it's so good it's so good, you babble as he drags you up off your hands, his arms binding you to his warm chest as he starts to rut you hard and fast, his beautiful fat cock dragging so deep against your soft inner walls. Frank claps a hand over your breast, squeezing and fondling then tugging and pinching hard at your nipple while his other massive paw slides upwards to your neck, and you whimper and whine as it easily circles your entire throat. You lean into it, showing him that this is what you wanted, what you were being a good girl for. He holds you firmly while his hips thrash, fucking you so hard you can't speak, can't think about anything else but how perfect it feels, how you want nothing else but for him to fill you up, use you how he pleases.
He tightens his grip and growls as your pussy squeezes around him in response.
"Yeah," he rasps into the side of your neck, his skin smacking against your ass every time he thrusts up into you. You can feel his heavy balls almost brushing your clit. "Good girl… c'mon and let me hear you."
Every time he buries himself inside a pitiful little whimper falls from your open mouth. You wonder if Billy is listening next door, maybe getting off on the sound of the two of you fucking.
Frank's tightening, vice-like grip snaps you back to the moment and you're aching for him and starting to get a little lightheaded which makes everything feel so much more intense.
“Fraaank…” you pant.
"You close sweetheart? Goddamn, I know it, can feel you flutterin' honey, feels so good."
He's relentless in the way that he fucks you, but it's not without tenderness and sensuality. His lips kiss the sweaty skin of your shoulder as he holds you upright, your back flush against his broad chest, his hand still around your neck and one splayed over your stomach as he starts to ram his cock repeatedly right into that perfect spot.
“C'mon sweetheart, I got you,” he grunts, "go on, go off for me baby...”
When his hand slides down lower and you feel the electric sensation of the rough pads of his fingertips start rubbing over your slick clit, there's no going back. You're a hot, whimpering mess ready to fall over the edge.
He half-whispers, voice low and gruff by your ear. “Fuck that's it, fuck, yeah…”
He slams up into you as your body finally quakes around him and you let go completely with an uninhibited moan of pleasure, feeling the rolling fire of your orgasm exploding out in powerful waves through every nerve. You're barely aware of anything after that, only half registering the deep groan of satisfaction from Frank as he finishes inside you with several slow, deep rolls of his hips.
Everything feels warm and gooey, sounds are muted and distant for a while until you hear him again as you slowly come to, blinking your heavy eyelids open to his concerned voice.
“Hey, hey… you okay sweetheart?”
You gradually become aware that you're being held, warm and grounded. Frank's propped up on the mound of pillows at the headboard and you're laying against his broad chest as he trails his fingertips gently up and down the outside of your arm.
“Not too much?” He asks, angling his head to make eye contact with you.
You reach up your hand around the back of his head, leaning up as you pull him down to kiss him for the first time. It's a sweet kiss, relaxed and easy considering all that you've just done together. He's got the cutest smile you've ever seen on his face after you break away, this big unit of a man is maybe even blushing slightly.
“No this was perfect, thank you so much Frank, I couldn't really ask for more.” He hands you a glass of water and you kinda do wish you could indulge yourself a little more and lie in his arms for longer, but you're aware that Billy's just outside and you both should probably get cleaned up anyway. As you carefully push yourself up you can't help notice Frank seems almost reluctant to break up your little post coital moment.
“Y'know, anytime you need a little somethin’, you just let me know, hm?” Frank offers, and you know you'll definitely be taking him up on that. You slip out of bed and he's right there making sure you don't fall over your own wobbly legs on the way to the ensuite to shower.
“You comin' with me, big guy?” you ask him with a raised brow and a soft smile, glad when he returns it and shadows you, turning on the hot spray of the shower and helping you wash.
When you emerge Frank heads into the kitchen to pour you all a drink and you go to find Billy. He's in his office with his headphones on and gives you a smirk when he sees your blissed out expression, taking the headset off and putting it on the desk.
“Looks like you might've had some fun. Frankie, did you treat her right?!” he shouts through to the kitchen, and you can't help the huge grin that splits your face.
“Yeah he most definitely did.” You reply, your fingers playing with a pen on the edge of his desk. “I was thinking that maybe, we could all have some fun together next time..?”
“Oh we're already planning a next time are we?” Billy teases, and you smack him on the arm, shushing him as Frank appears in the doorway to hand you both a glass of bourbon each.
“You can count me in.” Frank responds before taking a sip and Billy grins.
You couldn't wait.

just wanted to hear your voice
Tumblr media

a/n: this is a very special birthday gift for my baby lea, @thyme-in-a-bubble. i'd send you a cake, but you're the superior baker between us, so i'm giving you the slutty gift of billy instead. i hope your birthday is as magical as you are, and i hope you enjoy your present. i love you endlessly. 🖤
as always, feedback is welcomed/appreciated.
Tumblr media
Billy very rarely had a hard time focusing. He approached everything, especially his empire, with tenacious determination and an insatiable thirst for success. There was no detail too small, no risk too grand, and no stone he didn’t personally overturn. His desire for perfectionism and order may have appeared as obsessive and controlling to some, but to Billy, appearances and status were everything, so it was imperative to give every task at hand his full and undivided attention.
But today, his thoughts couldn’t stop wandering to you.
All the blocks of black ink on the documents in front of him blurred into a mirage of you in that emerald green silk robe that was carelessly wrapped around your figure this morning while you got ready in the bathroom. It took him fifteen minutes just to knot his tie because he couldn’t stop staring at your alluring reflection in the mirror. The dark green fabric looked absolutely decadent on your soft skin, pulling taut against your body in all the right places. The belt was loosely tied around your waist, leaving a large expanse of your chest on display for his viewing pleasure, the edges of the robe just barely stopping right before your nipples.
It took every ounce of self control Billy had not to bend you over the counter, lift the hem of the robe just a few inches upwards, and make you watch in the mirror while he fucked you.
But he had an important meeting in twenty minutes that he couldn’t miss.
Sometimes he really fucking hated owning his own company.
Billy hadn’t even heard most of the pitch during the meeting. The monotone voice of the talkative investor should’ve been the perfect combat to dull his half hard cock into submission, but his mind kept wandering to you, and that only made his throbbing problem worse. He wasn’t a religious man, but he silently thanked whoever might be listening that black was his signature color, and that it slimmed instead of emphasized the prominent bulge in his pants.
He tried to busy himself with all the tasks that needed his attention, and fuck did he try, but his eyes could only decipher a few words before everything went blurry and shapeshifted into your form again. He should’ve just taken you over the fucking counter and been late. He could’ve made you both come in a matter of minutes. He had never regretted a decision so fucking much as he did right now.
Billy made it forty-five minutes before he absolutely couldn’t stand it anymore. His cock ached within the confines of his briefs, and he wasn’t going to make it through the rest of the day without some relief. Without giving it another thought, Billy grabbed his phone and dialed your number, placing his phone between his ear and his shoulder while swiftly unbuckling his belt and zipping down his fly. He had just slipped his hand past the waistband of his briefs to wrap his slender fingers around his cock when your melodic voice sounded on the other side of the line.
“Hi handsome.”
Billy sank his top teeth into his bottom lip, giving his cock a gentle squeeze, letting out a deep exhale through his nose as he leaned back in his chair to get comfortable.
“Hey darlin’. You busy?”
“Not particularly. Why, what’s up?”
“Nothin’. Just wanted to hear your voice, s’all.”
Billy swiped his thumb across his weeping tip, letting out a silent hiss as he used the spurt of his arousal as a lubricant to coat the length of his cock. His eyes fluttered shut when your soft giggle sounded in his ear.
“Baby, you heard my voice an hour ago.”
“S’too fuckin’ long, doll.”
Another harmonious string of giggles played in his ear, and he began to slowly flick his wrist upwards in a light jerking motion, doing his best to keep his voice steady.
“Tell me how your mornin’s goin’.”
Billy caught almost every other word of your exposition, the pleasure building in his lap nearly clouding his mind entirely with lust. He kept his eyes closed, conjuring your figure in front of him on his desk in that little robe he had gotten you for your birthday, thighs spread apart enough to display your soaked cunt to him while you spoke. God, the things he would do to you if you were here right now.
“Billy?”
“Hm?”
“I said how did your meeting go?”
He was so wrapped up in his fantasy of you that he had completely missed your question. A layer of sweat had started to bead along his hairline, and he hadn’t even noticed that he’d begun to steadily buck his hips upwards into his own hand.
“Fine. It was fine.”
There was silence on the other end of the line for a moment before your voice rang through laced with concern.
“Are you okay?”
“M’fine, darlin’.”
“Are you sure? You sound a little out of it.”
If you were here with him right now, you would’ve caressed his face in your soft palm. Physical touch was one of your love languages, and it awoke a craving in Billy he hadn’t realized he had blocked out from a lifetime of being touch starved.
He adored all your little touches. He loved the way you held his hand proudly wherever the two of you went. He enjoyed how you always touched his arm to get his attention when you wanted to show him something. He felt a rush of warmth every time he felt your arms wrap around him from behind in a hug when you were watching him do something, or checking on him if it was late and he hadn’t come to bed yet. He liked that you were always absentmindedly adjusting his tie for him or fixing his hair back into place if it got unruly.
But he really loved the way you touched him when he pleasured you. He savored the sharp sting of your fingers tugging roughly at his dark roots to bring his face closer to your pussy when he ate you out. He got off on the pain you inflicted clawing into his back when he fucked you hard and rough. He reveled in the way you held his hands above his head when you rode his cock with a pleased grin plastered on your lips. He cherished the way you held his face in your hands when he made love to you.
All those images in his head caused him to let out a desperate moan, and he didn’t miss the way your breath hitched on the other side of the phone.
“Billy…are you-”
“I shoulda fucked you this mornin’ like I wanted, doll.”
He heard the sharp intake of breath you took. The quiet and soft moan that slipped past your lips went straight to his cock and nearly had his eyes rolling into the back of his head.
“Billy-”
“Looked so fuckin’ good in that robe, darlin’. Gonna buy you one in every fuckin’ color so I can fuck you in all of ‘em. God, I been hard all fuckin’ mornin’ from thinkin’ ‘bout you, baby.”
“Are you-”
“Fuckin’ my hand wishin’ it was your pussy instead? Yeah, I am.”
A delicate noise of desire echoed through the phone’s speaker, and it sounded like the exact one you made whenever he sucked at that sweet spot on your neck.
“Billy…”
Your voice came out in a breathless moan, and it only made him fuck his hand faster.
“Say my name like that again, baby. C’mon, lemme hear it again.”
Billy was panting heavily now, that tight band within him dangerously close to snapping. His hand was moving furiously up and down the base of his cock, and he slipped his other hand into his briefs to gently squeeze his balls.
“Billy.”
Throwing his head back against the chair, Billy groaned your name loudly when he came, his jaw hanging open as he fucked his hand through his orgasm. Warm ropes of his release painted wet stripes along his crisp white button up, and he let out a quiet moan from the overstimulation of emptying himself completely.
A wolfish grin spread across his lips as he tried to catch his breath, wiping his sticky palm off on his shirt.
“I’m comin’ home to change suits. You better be there waitin’ when I get there.”

Catch Me If You Can
Plot summary : When your friend interviews for a position at Anvil, you have a chance encounter with Billy Russo. He takes you for coffee and, by the time you’re done , Billy decides he’s anything but done with you.
Pairing : Billy Russo x Reader
Story Rating : R
Chapter Rating : this one is pretty PG
Warnings : [This is a fic for 18+ only, minors DNI] Nothing in this chapter is warning worthy, but the story in general is going to turn pretty smutty from chapter 3 onwards and there will be strong language throughout. I’m not going to list all the different ways things get smutty unless I think it’s something that could be considered triggering. Please check the warnings on each chapter if you choose to follow this story.
Word Count : ~4.5k
A/N : this started life as an original piece that I couldn’t finish, so I decided to make a few little changes and turn it into a fanfic. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a tumblr, so sorry if I fuck this up. The story as a whole is going to veer recklessly between cute fluff and some much darker things with themes of obsession, will-they-won’t-they, and running from past trauma. Both Billy and reader are messy AF.
CHAPTER ONE
You checked your phone for what had to be the hundredth time. A measly two minutes had passed but the August heat made it feel longer. You found yourself thinking about how you were going to kill your roommate for making you chauffeur her around in the height of summer, trying to ignore the way the sticky New York heat made your tank top cling to your body beneath your unzipped hoodie.
You’d given up on waiting in the car after the first ten minutes - the AC in the old VW was busted, making it even less comfortable than sitting on the hood of the car under the glaring sun. Still, the parking lot was nicer than some of the places you’d found yourself waiting for your roommate over the years. That was the thing with Tammy; everyone around her lived on her schedule, did what she wanted to do. And you were no exception.
Actually, this whole thing was your idea. A friend, albeit in a very loose sense of the word, had told you that ANVIL were hiring office staff, and you’d passed the message along to Tammy who’d - well, she’d turned her nose up at it at first, she’d even laughed at you. But Tammy needed a job and ANVIL had a reputation for paying well.
So, you agreed to drive her to the interview and even agreed to wait.
Every now and then someone would appear - honestly, it looked like a steady stream of models leaving the building, the sorts that Tammy fit well with - but, for the most part, it was just you, mindlessly scrolling Instagram, trying not to think.
Until you saw him.
He came out the door and just stopped. It looked like he was breathing a sigh of relief at being out of there, and you couldn’t help but smirk a little at that. Poor guy.
Despite the weather he was dressed in a suit, dark hair slicked back, tall and slender. You suddenly felt out of place, like you shouldn’t be there, like you shouldn’t keep watching him, but the longer it went without him noticing you, the harder it was to try and tear away your eyes. He answered his phone as you watched, even without being able to hear a word, you knew he wasn’t happy. When he turned you got your first glimpse of his face and -
Fuck.
Your eyes dropped back to your phone, knowing that he’d seen you watching him. Fingers swiped across the screen, jumping from Instagram to emails to Facebook, looking for anything to reply to. Your eyes stayed fixed on the phone even as you heard the shuffle of boots on gravel moving towards you, trying to act like you hadn’t been staring at him even as his shadow fell over you.
“Do you make a habit of hanging out in parking lots or are you here to interview?” His voice didn’t sound quite the way you’d imagined - though you weren’t really sure why you’d been imagining his voice to begin with. There was an edge to it, something that sent a shiver up your spine.
“I’m waiting for someone,” you answered, squinting as you looked up and the light seemed to halo around him.
“Friend?” he asked.
“Roommate,” you answered awkwardly before shaking your head, “but, yeah, she’s my friend too.”
You weren’t expecting him to laugh at that, for him to smile the sort of smile that probably had women all across the five boroughs ready to drop their panties. (And that was another thought you weren’t sure you should be having.)
He didn’t move, for a few moments he just looked at you as if he was taking measure, and all you could think about was how there was a bead of sweat rolling down your back. You probably looked completely gross while he was standing there in what looked like a professionally tailored suit that probably cost more than you could make in a year, with not a hair out of place despite the oppressive heat.
“Does she make you wait around for her a lot?” He asked as if it was the strangest thing he’d ever heard, like he’d never allow anyone to put him in your position.
“She doesn’t drive,” you shrug, “anyway, this is nicer than most of the places she drags me to.”
“Yeah?” he prompted with little more than a raise of his eyebrow.
“Tammy’s an actress - at least, she wants to be. So I end up waiting around while she auditions.”
The look he gave you was surprisingly sympathetic. “Actresses can be hard work.” You didn’t think to ask how he knew that.
“Yeah, I’m just glad she gets to keep her clothes on for this interview,” the words slipped out and you instantly grimaced but if he noticed that, he didn’t let it show. “Not like - I mean, she’s not doing porn or anything. Not that there’s anything wrong with women wanting to -”
You could see him fighting back a laugh the more flustered you got.
“I mean, it’s not the nudity that’s a problem - you should read some of the scripts, they’re just so bad.” You finally managed. “It’s like ‘oh no the serial killer caught me with his knife and now my tits are out’.”
Silence fell again and you watched him glance away, daring to hope that he was done with you. He’d walk away and forget all about you, and you’d spend the rest of the day replaying this moment in your mind, cringing at how ridiculous you are.
“I was going to grab a coffee, your friend is probably going to be another hour or so, so if you want you could always join me?”
You quickly started coming up with reasons why you couldn’t, why you shouldn’t. But, it was just coffee, it wasn’t like he was asking you to leave the country with him. And, besides, you weren’t sure you could stand the heat much longer.
“There’s a place nearby that does amazing iced coffee,” like he was reading your mind. And that sold it.
“Yeah, sure, that sounds great,” you decided, sliding off the hood of the car in a less than graceful manner.
Once you were standing you could really appreciate the height difference between the two of you; you almost had to tilt your head to look at him. You pushed the thought away, taking a moment to check that your car was locked up, following after him when he started to leave the way.
As you walked, it dawned on you that you still didn’t know his name, so you clumsily introduced yourself.
“Billy,” he responded with a smile, realising that he’d made the same mistake you had, “come on, it’s just across the street.”
You both fell into silence as you left the parking lot, but it wasn’t long before it got to be too much for you in an awkward, uncomfortable sort of way. It struck you that he didn’t look uncomfortable though, in fact you were already pretty certain that he wasn’t the kind of man to get uncomfortable easily.
“So, do you work at Anvil?” You asked him, wanting to fill the silence but also wanting to know a little bit more about him. You weren’t sure what he found so funny about the question but the smirk he shot you left you feeling like you were missing something obvious and he found your ignorance amusing. You started to fiddle with your sleeves, gaze dropping from his.
“Yeah, I work at Anvil.” And then silence fell again.
When you looked up again you were outside a little coffee shop that was so small and non-descript that you’d completely missed it when you drove by it earlier. He held the door open for you and let you slip inside before following, watching as you breathed a sigh of relief as the cool air from the AC hit. When you moved towards the counter, you realised he was only a step behind, towering over you almost possessively.
The girl behind the counter smiled at him first before bothering to spare you a glance.
“What would you like?” He asked. You quickly realised that he was intending to pay and that just unsettled you further.
“I can get mine,” you were quick to tell him. You didn’t need him paying for you and you’d never been the sort to accept drinks from men you didn’t know, not even coffee. So, you ordered your drink, your favourite iced coffee with syrup, before he ordered his, an americano with an extra shot of espresso. But before you could pay, he reached over and tapped his phone on the reader, flashing you what you could only describe as a darkly mischievous smile.
“You didn’t have to -” you started to tell him.
“I know, but I wanted to,” Billy shrugged, “besides, I owe you for keeping me company.”
The girl behind the counter shot you the sort of look that made you think that she would have been more than happy to keep Billy company herself and that she saw your presence there as an annoyance. You guess that was probably the effect he had on a lot of women.
“Here you go, Billy, just how you like it,” she smiled as put your drinks on the counter, leaning and fluttering her eyelashes at him, completely ignoring you. Billy gave her a muttered thanks and you had to bite your lip to keep from laughing as you reached for your drink.
As you turned, Billy placed a hand on your back, leading you towards a table by the window, far enough from the counter that it felt a little more private. You sat on the edge of your seat, eyes nervously wandering towards the door for a second and, when you looked back, you found him watching you. There was a confidence about him that was getting harder and harder to ignore, he was clearly a man who knew what he wanted and exactly how to get it - so, what did he want from you?
Company? Or maybe you were being used to make the barista jealous? No, that didn’t feel right, he’d barely even looked at her, anything between them was obviously one-sided. Maybe you were there to keep her at bay so he could drink his coffee in peace? Though from looking at him you knew he had to be used to women fawning over him, with those dark eyes that looked right through you and the shirt that fit so perfectly you could make out the muscles beneath as he shrugged off his jacket.
“What?”
Shit. You realised that you’d been staring at him and your cheeks started to warm. He didn’t look bothered, in fact he was still smiling at you, amused, almost as if he wanted you to look.
“Sorry,” you apologised, dropping your eyes to the table, quickly thinking of a way to move the conversation along, “so how long have you worked for Anvil?”
“Too long,” he answered and, again, there was that little laugh, that little smirk telling you that you were missing something. Billy obviously didn’t want to talk about himself though. “What about you? What do you do?”
“Bike messenger, mostly...” you shrugged awkwardly knowing how guys like him looked down on people like you. You weren’t ashamed of what you did; it paid the rent, put food on the table, you just hated having to defend it to someone like him who probably made money in his sleep. He surprised you by not reacting - there was no look of superiority, no pity, just a nod of his head.
“Mostly?”
“What?”
“You said mostly,”
“Oh, right, yeah. I do some work as a photographer. Just freelance and a couple of exhibitions,” you shrugged again, “it’s actually how I found out that Anvil were hiring.”
“Really?” It was hard not to notice how intently he was looking at you, like he was hanging on your every word. You started fiddling with your sleeve again.
“Yeah, sometimes I do work for The Bulletin if someone is out sick, and my friend Karen knew Tammy was looking for a job, so -”
“Karen? Frank’s girl?”
“Yeah,” you’d never met him but Karen had been talking about him a lot since they got together, “we were talking and I guess I let slip that we might have to move to a smaller apartment if Tammy can’t find a job…”
“High rent?”
You nodded. “Higher than either of us can really afford, but Tammy’s parents pay half and we split the rest.”
“Her parents still pay for her?”
“They’re loaded and I guess they didn’t want her having to live anywhere that might be ‘dangerous’,” you offered, but you knew how it sounded. You and Tammy were both in your thirties , it was strange that they still went out of their way to provide for her, but you didn’t fault them for wanting to look after their child, something that your own parents had never seemed inclined to do. The thought sent you down a rabbit hole and had you falling silent, wondering how he’d look at you if he knew the truth about you.
You took a drink, letting your eyes drift to the window and the street beyond. His eyes stayed firmly on you and you could almost feel him watching you. It made you tense and shift uncomfortably.
“What kind of photography are you into?”
“Mostly candids, but since I moved to New York, I’ve been really getting into urban stuff and I’ve been playing around with architecture shots.” Billy listened, looking interested in everything you had to say in a way that had you smiling again.
“And you put on exhibitions?”
“Little shows sometimes, yeah.”
“I’d love to see one sometime.” He kept smiling at you, all his focus completely on you, and you found that you didn’t entirely mind it. It was nice talking to someone who seemed to care about what you were actually saying. “Did you study photography in college or -”
“No, I never got to go to college.” It wasn’t until you’d said it that you realised how much it gave away; that college wasn’t your choice, that you’d been stopped from going.
“I never went to college either,” Billy offered, as if he sensed your sudden discomfort. You nodded, eyes dropping to your fingers, tugging at your sleeve again. “Do I make you nervous?” He asked suddenly, pulling your attention back towards him. He was still smiling, still looking at you in a way that made you feel like he was taking you apart in his mind, piece by piece.
“What? No - that’s not -” you stumbled over your words, embarrassed that he’d caught on so easily. You took a second before letting out a sigh. “It’s not you, I just don’t do this a lot.”
“Which part?”
“The whole going for coffee with a random guy I’ve never met before.”
“Is that because guys don’t ask or because you don’t normally say yes?” He asked but didn’t give you time to respond. “Don’t worry, I’m sure I already know the answer.”
An eyebrow raised, unimpressed by the assumption; the situation might have been making you nervous but you weren’t going to take shit from a stranger. “Oh yeah, and how’s that?”
“You’re too attractive for men to ignore.” Billy shrugged and your eyes rolled. Yikes, what a fucking line.
“Maybe I’ve got a boyfriend,” you retorted, “or a girlfriend.”
Billy laughed. “You know that wouldn’t stop most guys, right?”
“Would it have stopped you?” You were pretty sure you knew the answer to that.
“I dunno, do you have a boyfriend?” He asked. “Or a girlfriend?”
“Do you?”
“Have a boyfriend?”
“Or a girlfriend.”
“Would you be here having coffee with me if I did?” He asked, turning the tables so effortlessly that it made it seem like flirting was an olympic sport and he was a gold medallist.
“Would you have asked me if you did?” You answered back, trying to fight back a smirk of your own at how ridiculous this was becoming.
“Do you always answer innocent questions with more questions?” It was obvious he was enjoying whatever this was, his dark eyes practically shining with excitement as he watched you from the other side of the table.
“You call that an innocent question?” You retorted, letting out a snort of laughter.
Billy let out another laugh, holding up his hands and signalling surrender.
“Maybe you should come work for Anvil, I bet you’re a pro at interrogations.” And that really made you laugh, and the sight of it had his gaze fixing more intently on you and his smile widening.
“I don’t think I have the necessary qualifications to work somewhere like that,” you shrug, “besides, I like my job.”
“Really?” Usually his question would have pissed you off, but there was something in the way he asked that made it seem like he was genuinely curious to hear your reasons rather than it being some kind of judgement.
“Yeah, I get to see the whole city, there’s no office politics to deal with, and I get to listen to music all day,” you found yourself shrugging again, and his eyes were still fixed on you, like he was fascinated. So, it felt like your turn to ask; “what?”
“Nothing,” he sat back and lifted his mug, taking a long drink, “I think it’s great that you like your job, there’s a lot to be said for enjoying your work.”
“Do you? Enjoy what you do, I mean. With Anvil?” Whatever that was.
“Some days more than others,” he smiled at you.
“And today?” You asked stupidly, before considering the implications and how it might sound.
“Today’s definitely getting better.”
Your eyes dropped to your drink again, teeth running over your bottom lip. He wasnt talking about you, he couldn’t be talking about you, but some part of you wished he was. But you wouldn’t have known even if he was, you’d never been good with those sorts of things, flirting and separating a little bit of fun from something more. Billy was an enigma to you in the same way that most people were, but there was something about him that made you almost want to break all of your rules, just to see what might happen.
“What do you do for Anvil?”
“These days I mostly deal with the bureaucracy,” and the look on his face told you just what he thought of that.
“So you don’t - I don’t know, go on missions, all Seal Team 6, kicking down doors?”
Billy let slip a laugh that was equal parts amused and offended.
“Seal Team 6?”
“What?” You laughed, awkwardly.
“You know a lot of Anvil are ex-Marine Corps, right? I’m an ex-Marine.”
“Is there a difference?” You knew there was though, honestly, you couldn’t remember exactly what it was, and the look on his face was priceless enough that you didn’t regret asking.
“Okay, wow, you’re really going to make me explain it to you?” You nodded in response. “Okay, it’s -“
Before he could start on whatever lecture he was about to give, your phone started to ring, loudly - loud enough to make you almost jump out of your skin. (You must have knocked the volume while you’d been frantically trying to look like you hadn’t been spying on him earlier.)
“Fuck, it’s Tammy,” you tell him before answering.
Moments later, you’d wish that you hadn’t. She was at the car waiting for her ride home and you were nowhere to be found, which was apparently so inconsiderate of you. You finished the call with a sigh and looked at Billy.
“Guess her interview didn’t go well,” you took one final drink before pushing back your chair and getting to your feet. “I’ve got to go, if I leave her standing around out there I’ll never hear the end of it, it’s been -“ you stopped as he got to his feet.
“I’ll walk you back.”
“No, that’s fine, really, you don’t have to.”
“I insist.” His tone making it clear that he wasn’t going to take no for an answer.
“I’m sorry, she’s just -“
“You don’t have anything to apologise for.”
When you started towards the door, he was right behind you, again staying close to you. Outside the oppressive heat hit you again and it pissed you off; you’d been having a nice time and Tammy just had to ruin it. Now it was over and you’d never see him again.
Billy didn’t say anything, even as you picked up the pace. You wanted to get this all over and done with, you wanted to drive Tammy back to the apartment and - you didn’t know. All you knew was that you didn’t want to be around her, you didn't want to have to deal with her bullshit, and you didn’t want to think about the man walking a step behind you.
You didn’t see him frown at you, you didn’t dare look back because it just felt childish. You’d met him forty minutes ago, he’d probably forget you by the end of the day.
You rounded the corner, about to cross the street when you felt his fingers around your wrist. All it took was one gentle pull and you were turning back towards him, stumbling into his arms. It felt like a moment pulled from some romcom; you spilled forward into his arms, your hands against his chest. And then you looked up, finding those impossibly dark eyes staring down at you.
Billy looked at you like he was trying to decide something, fingers still wrapped around your wrist. The, less than a second later, he was kissing you, pulling your body against his. And you let him. Later you’d tell yourself that it was shock but, in that moment, you wanted him to kiss you for no other reason than he was nice; you’d had fun getting coffee with him. It took you a moment to return to your senses, to use the hands on his chest to gently push him away.
“Billy —”
“Sorry, couldn’t help myself. I’ve been thinking about doing that for the last thirty minutes.” He grinned. “Go to dinner with me.” You couldn’t tell if he meant it as a question or a command, but it definitely sounded more like the latter. Maybe he was just that used to women doing what he wanted them to do.
“I think you’re supposed to ask that before kissing someone,” was all you could think to say with a nervous laugh.
“Well, now I’ve asked…” And a second later, his lips were on yours again, tongue running against the seam of your lips, desperately wanting to deepen the kiss, and you let him. For a few sweet moments, you gave yourself over to him - to a random stranger you’d known for all of forty minutes.
Finally, you pushed him again, taking a step back, out of his arms and back to reality.
“I can’t,” is what you told him once you’d managed to find your voice again.
“Can’t or won’t?” He dared to try and take a step closer, forcing you to take another step back.
“Does it matter?”
“It matters to me.”
“Why?” Honestly not sure you even wanted an answer from him.
“So I can figure out how to change your mind.” He explained, like he thought it would really be that simple
“You can’t.” But that just made him laugh.
“Sweetheart, you’ve got no idea what I’m capable of.” And there was something dangerous in that; you didn’t know what he was capable of. “And I can be very persuasive when I want to be.”
“I told you; I don’t do this.”
“This can be whatever you want it to be. I’m very adaptable.” He reached for you again, fingers brushing your cheek before you managed to pull away.
He looked ready to say something else, like he had some line on the tip of his tongue that he was sure would convince you, his lips even parted ready, but nothing came out. You weren’t sure why until a moment later.
“Oh my god, there you are! Do you know how long I’ve been standing around waiting for you?”
Tammy. You didn’t know whether to be glad of the interruption or pissed at the tone she was taking with you.
“Sorry,” Billy stepped around you, towards Tammy, “I distracted her.”
“That’s -“ and then the impossible happened. Tammy actually fell silent. You decided that it must just be the effect that Billy tended to have on women.
“I’m Billy,” he offered out his hand and Tammy was quick to take it, no doubt falling for his charms already. And Billy, well, obviously he’d managed to get over whatever momentary insanity he’d been suffering from when he kissed you and had moved onto the next victim.
Only that wasn’t exactly what happened.
“Oh, I know who you are, Mr Russo. I’m Tammy.”
“Wait… what?” If anyone heard you, neither bothered to respond. How did Tammy know who he was?
“I hear you’ve just been interviewing to come work for me,”
For him. Not with him.
Your stomach dropped, remembering something Karen had said about a Russo, about how Frank called him a pretty boy and Karen thought he was a bit of a womaniser. He kept talking to Tammy but you barely caught a word, too stuck on everything that had happened and how you’d let it.
“Come on, Tammy,” finally, you snapped out of it and started to walk, “if you want a ride home we need to go now.”
You didn’t even wait for an answer, you just let her say her goodbyes to Billy.
“Let me know when you’re free to go for that dinner,” Billy called after you, You chose not to answer, some part of you hoping that Tammy wasn’t going to follow because you knew what would come next.
Fumbling for your keys, you had them in hand before you got back to your car, not daring to look behind you. What had just happened? Your lips still tingled from his kiss, you could still taste him, could still feel his hand on your hip. And some part of you was inexplicably still annoyed that the moment was over.
Tammy followed behind you, calling after, barely making it into the passenger seat before you started the car.
“Oh my god,” she exclaimed and you steeled yourself for the oncoming argument, “you are the best friend ever.”
There was no sarcasm, no anger - she was actually smiling at you. What the hell did she think you’d done?
“What?” Throwing the car into reverse and trying to ignore the fact that Billy was there, watching you as he made his way back towards the office building, his office building. There was something unknowable in his dark gaze as it followed you and, again, you found yourself thinking about how you had no idea what he was capable of.
“Flirting with Billy-fucking-Russo to get me a job at Anvil.”
CHAPTER TWO
-
END NOTES : if you made it this far, thanks for sticking around. Like I said, this is something that started out as an original piece and I was struggling to find the energy to finish it. I’ll be trying to release a new chapter at least once a week, though the second part will probably be up in a few days time because the first two chapters are really just to help set things up, and I know that’s not what people are interested in. I already have the first five chapters pretty much written, they just need some editing before going in the queue and, in total, I have around 20 chapters planned. I’ll be working on this through NaNoWriMo too, so how much I get done might change the posting schedule a little.
Likes, reblogs, and follows are appreciated, though this fic will be posted regardless of engagement because I just need to get this story out of my head once and for all.
Anyway thanks for stopping by, I hope you have a wonderful day wherever you are!

You thought you found your happy ending but was it just more wreckage for your life?
A/N: Thank you to my beta reader, @whisperlullaby
Wrecked Masterlist
Tumblr media
You were peeling potatoes when you heard the rumble of Frank’s truck as it pulled up to the cabin. Was it strange you still felt nervous when he came home after all these months? Maybe because you were always waiting for the other shoe to drop. You weren’t an Omega that any “normal” Alpha would want, and you know that your relationship with Frank was born more out of solace and comfort than anything else. Still, you loved him and he seemed to love you. So, you smiled when you heard his gravelly voice call, “Hey babe.”
“Hey. I’m in the kitchen,” you reply.
“Whatcha cookin’?” Frank asks as he sets his lunch box in its spot.
“Just boring old meatloaf and mashed potatoes,” you smile at him over your shoulder.
“Mmm, does that mean I get a meatloaf sandwich in my lunch tomorrow?” Frank sidles up behind you and rests his hands on your hips.
“If you like.”
“I like,” he confirms as he squeezes your hips suggestively. “Do I have time to shower?”
“You have about 30 minutes before it’s ready,” you confirm as you rinse the peeled potatoes.
“Great,” he retreats to your bedroom and you immediately miss his warmth.
You had found each other by accident. He had come to your small town by chance. Many people passed through on their way to bigger towns but he decided to stay. He wandered into your bar, drank alone, talked but didn’t flirt as you tended to him, and ended up breaking up a fight between two alphas quite adeptly. You had been impressed and a little enticed until you noticed the claiming mark on his neck. Fully expecting him to disappear into the night, you were surprised when he showed up again the next night. And the one after that. You had joked that you should hire him as a bouncer and he had laughed but then asked if anyone in town was hiring. Referring him to the two places you knew were looking, you poured him a congratulatory drink when he told you he had landed a spot. You remember back to that time…
Close to the end of the night, you were cutting off a young alpha who took offense. You were used to handling drunks and thought you had defused the situation when he walked away from the bar. A few of his friends ribbed him and the group left just as you announced last call. You shut down, counted out, and sent the rest of your staff home. As the daughter of a prominent alpha and known as a rejected and broken omega, you felt secure in the town. Perhaps that was a bit of your own arrogance. You had just made it to your car when you were slammed against it by a large body and your head was pulled to one side by the grip in your hair.
Alcohol laden breath spoke in your ear, “You need to learn your place, ‘mega.”
“Get off of me!” You yelled, bucking against his hold.
“Don’t worry. I don’t wanna fuck the wrecked omega. I’m just gonna give you the beating your daddy never did. Pathetic, unfuckable thing you are, I’m surprised he let you live. Shoulda- Agh!” The young alpha’s words cut off by his own scream.
You’re pulled roughly to the ground by his grip in your hair but roll away from him quickly and scoot out of his range. He’s holding onto his side and you look up at the tire iron gripped in a strong hand. Following it up, you see Frank and breathe a sigh of relief. Frank is obviously not done yet as he lands another blow to the alpha’s stomach then one across the face.
He stops and leans over his prey, “Is that something like the beating your daddy never gave you? I ever see you here again, I’ll kill you. Understand?”
When no answer comes, Frank raises the tire iron for another swing but the other alpha holds his hands up and wheezes, “Yes!”
“Get the fuck out of here!” Frank yells and watches as the man scrambles off into the darkness. Turning to you, he holds a hand out to help you up, “You okay?”
“Yeah, yeah. Thank you,” you brush yourself off as you speak, trying to appear nonchalant but clearly shaken up.
“You shouldn’t be out here alone,” Frank grouses at you.
“I’m fine. That’s the first time-”
“It only takes one time. You have to be more careful,” Frank interrupts.
“I- I’m fine,” you say again. You drop your keys because your hands are shaking and pick them up only to drop them again.
“Hey,” Frank covers your hands with his.
“I’m fine,” you whisper again, trying to hide the tears that were threatening to fall.
“Hey, look at me,” Frank pulls you around to look at him. His face softens as he sees the unshed tears in your eyes, “You’re not fine. Let me take you home.”
You surrender your keys to him and nod. You tell him what direction to head in and silence stretches between you until you can stand it no longer. “So, Frank, what’s your story?”
“What do you mean?” Frank hedges.
“I mean a lone alpha wandering into town and staying isn’t very common. What brought you here? What made you stay?”
“My truck. A good bar that pours a stiff drink and a job,” Frank replies.
“Okay, then,” you recognize when someone doesn’t want to talk about their past.
“How long have you worked at the bar?” Frank asks.
“I own the bar,” you retort.
“How long have you owned the bar?”
“Since the last owner sold it to me,” you sass.
Frank surprises you by letting a laugh rumble out of his chest and you can’t help the smile that quirks your lips. His scent is suddenly stronger in the small space of your car, not hidden by the scents of the bar. It’s enticing and warm. You feel yourself responding to it and clench your thighs.
“Didn’t seem like that was your first fight. Army?” You guess.
“Marines.”
“Oorah,” you glance over at him and as headlights pass you see the mating mark on his neck again. It’s faded but definitely there. “Where’s your mate?”
Frank’s entire demeanor shifts as if a darkness had covered him entirely. He growls, “Gone.”
“I’m sorry,” you study your hands. Feeling awkward at having obviously brought up a painful subject.
“She and both my pups were killed. Car crash,” he says quietly.
“I’m so sorry. I can’t imagine.”
“Since we’re on sore subjects, why are you a ‘wrecked omega’?” Frank glances over at you.
“Turn left just past the highway sign up ahead,” you point out the sign. “Because I can’t have children. My mate rejected me because of it.”
“Sounds like a jackass,” Frank says.
“He was from another pack. My father wanted me to lie to him but I couldn’t and I understood when he decided to reject me. He was very kind about it but the reason got out. It’s common knowledge that I’m broken. Take the next right and then the third left.”
“Guess that makes two of us,” Frank says reflectively.
“What?”
“Nothing,” Frank shakes his head as he takes the turns.
“Um, you’ll cross over some train tracks and then a bridge. It’ll be the next house on the right,” you explain. He nods but remains silent. You knot your fingers while trying to think of something to say. You’re relieved when you go over the bridge a few minutes later and the front porch light on your cabin shines like a beacon. “That’s it,” you point.
He parks the car, hands you the keys, and walks you to the front steps. You go up and unlock the door. Turning back, you wait for him to follow you inside.
“I’ll, uh, see you tomorrow night,” Frank turns to walk away.
“What are you doing?” You ask, confused.
“I’ll just walk back,” he shrugs.
“It’s over five miles back to town,” you say incredulously.
“I’ll be alright.”
“I’m not letting you walk back to town. Let’s go,” you tilt your head towards the house.
“I-”
“I can’t be alone right now, please,” you say in hopes of convincing him.
“Okay,” he says as he climbs the steps.
You let him in and then lock the door behind you. You take your boots off, hang up your bag, and head to the kitchen as you decide you need a drink. “Would you like something?” You ask as you pour yourself a glass of wine.
“Got anything stronger?”
“I have everything stronger,” you scoff playfully.
“Whiskey?” Frank smirks.
“Ice?”
“Nah.”
You pour him two fingers of the liquor and hand it over. Studying him over the rim of your glass, you wonder what else there was to this stranger. He was good-looking and seemed decent. You hope he is considering you just invited him into your house.
“Got an extra pillow and blanket?” He asks.
“What for?”
“I’ll sleep on the couch.”
You lean over the counter and give him a look, “I told you I didn’t want to be alone tonight.”
Frank leisurely lets his eyes slide down to peak at the cleavage your position was clearly showing off and smirked, “You sure?”
“Yeah, Marine. I mean, if you think you can handle me,” you toss the words over your shoulder as you walk to your bedroom.
“Oorah,” Frank grins as he follows you.
The two of you fell into a routine. He came to the bar for a drink after work, stayed until last call, and you invited him back to your place. After a couple of weeks, you offered him a key saying that working all day and then staying at the bar until close each night had to be exhausting. If he wanted, he could wait for you at the cabin. If he was still awake when you got home, you fucked. If he was asleep, he usually woke you up fucking you the next morning. He was insatiable and you enjoyed it more than you cared to admit. You had never had the sole attention of an alpha for any time outside of your heat (which was a bane seeing as your body still went through it despite your inability to conceive) and the betas you had dated never seemed to stick around long. Even they didn't want the broken omega.
In the time Frank had been with you, he gave every indication of being a good man who wanted a simple life. Despite his seeming contentment, you often wondered why he stayed and when he would decide to go. He knew you could never give him kids and in the times you’d seen him with them, he seemed entirely natural. He would be an amazing father, had been an amazing father you were sure. And it ate at you. Why did he stay? Your fear wouldn’t let you ask because that may hasten his leaving you. You never discussed your relationship. You just lived it everyday and, for the most part, you were happy.
But your heat was coming soon. It would be his second time seeing you through it and it was just another reminder of  your brokenness. You would have to bring it up.
Setting dinner on the table, you jump when you feel a hand on your backside, “Oh! How does a man your size move so quietly?”
Frank chuckles, “Maybe cause I’m barefoot.”
You laugh with him as he wiggles his toes. Most see the quiet, stoic side of this man but you’ve been allowed to see the funny and sweet side of him. It’s what made you love him. After you’d both eaten a bit, you broach the subject on your mind.
“There’s something we need to talk about.”
“Uh-oh. What’d I do?”
“It’s not you. It’s me.”
“Heard that before,” Frank’s brow furrows.
“My heat is coming in the next few weeks,” you say nervously.
“Okay…”
“Will you, um, help me through it?”
“Yeah. Why are you asking? Is there someone else you want to help you or something?”
“No! I just didn’t want to assume.”
“You didn’t want to assume that I’d take care of my Omega?” Frank asks, clearly offended.
“You’ve never called me that before,” you say in surprise.
“I’ve called you that plenty,” Frank shrugs.
“You’ve called me ‘mega, occasionally Omega, but you’ve never called me yours. Never ‘my Omega’.”
“Never, huh?”
“No,” you whisper, looking away. Guilt and shame welled in you for even bringing it up.
“What is it you want from me, my Omega?”
You glance up at him. His face is curious but not angry as you feared he would be, “What do you mean?”
“Do you want me to mate you?” Frank asks as he takes another bite of his dinner.
“No!” You say a little too forcefully. Seeing Frank’s brows draw together, you babble, “I don’t expect that from you. I know I’m not what an Alpha wants, since I can’t have kids. I’m not asking you for anything. Just… just to see me through my heat.” You didn’t expect it from him. You didn’t expect any Alpha to mate you. Neither of you had even said I love you. You do love him and you think he feels something for you but you would never tell him. You wouldn’t try to force him into being stuck with you.
“I will. You would be safer if you were mated. With the bar and everything,” Frank says as he forks another bite.
“I know but there aren’t many Alphas or even Betas out there that would take a mate who can’t have kids,” you say a bit exasperated.
“Then I’ll mate you,” Frank says quietly.
Your heart swells and breaks in the same moment, “No, Frank. I know you well enough to know you want children again. I know you want to protect me but I won’t take your future from you.”
“I’m happy here with you. That’s enough for me,” Frank insists.
“Frank-”
“I’m mating you when your heat comes,” Frank interrupts before taking the last bite of his food and getting up to put his plate in the sink, effectively cutting off the conversation. He looks back and gestures to your half eaten plate, “Finish up and I’ll do the dishes.”
“I’m done,” you hand the plate to him and stand awkwardly. You aren’t sure what to say or even what you feel. You try to think of something that will take this feeling away that you’re going to ruin his future and the feeling that you were a settlement rather than a choice. You decide to pour yourself a glass of wine.
“You, uh, remember me telling you about my friend, Billy?” Frank asks as he sloshes water in the sink. You would never understand why he won’t use the dishwasher. One of his idiosyncrasies.
“Russo, right? He owns a security company?” You try to remember the details of the conversation you’d had about the man.
“Yeah, he called me today,” Frank pauses.
“...About something in particular?”
“He’s gonna pass through the area next week and wanted to stop here for a few days. Catch up,” Frank explains.
“Oh, okay. I’ll clean up the guest room for him,” you say.
“I can put him at the motel,” Frank hedges.
“He doesn’t know about me?” You ask, voice hollow.
“He knows. I just don’t want you to feel obligated to put him up,” Frank grouses.
“I’m sorry,” you whisper. Clearing your throat, you say, “Of course, your friend can stay here. Um, is there anything I can make that he likes?”
“Just keep the good whiskey out and he’ll be happy,” Frank smiles.
It lightens your heart and you finally feel able to take a deep breath, “That I can do.”
“Oh, and Bill’s a flirt. Don’t be surprised if he teases you.”
“Noted. You should bring him up to the bar. Cecily’s supposed to be back next week, too,” you smile as you watch Frank make a face. A long-time friend who is quite the social butterfly and ends up at your bar more often than not, had tried to rouse Frank’s interest when he first blew into town but he had ignored her attempts and played off her flirtations. She had been out of town for a while but had recently texted that she would be returning.
“Oh, god, no. Those two would create havoc together,” Frank shakes his head.
You laugh, feeling more relaxed, “Oh, really?”
“Yeah, Bill can be a bit of a troublemaker, too,” Frank confirms.
“Oh, I hope they are here at the same time. I could use some entertainment.”
“Your funeral,” Frank laughs as he shakes his head.
“Do you know when next week?”
“Nope. He’s not great at specifics,” Frank shrugs.
“Well, I’ll have the room and a bottle of whiskey at the ready,” you smile.
Frank smiles back as he dries his hands and prowls towards you.
“What’s that look about, Marine?” You narrow your eyes and move deftly around the couch.
Frank gives a low, gravelly laugh before rumbling out, “Oorah.” He begins to chase after you with a teasing, predatory glint in his eye.
“Frank!” You yell as you round the couch and stay out of his reach.
He wanted a chase and you were more than happy to oblige him. Some feral, primal part of him occasionally took hold and it was thrilling when it did. He stalked you like prey around the living room until you made a break for the back door. You fly through it with him hot on your heels. Running parallel to the creek by your cabin, you make it to the tree line and weave around the trunks. He doesn’t know the woods as well as you but he’s faster. It was only a matter of time before he’d catch up. You stop to listen for a moment but know you can’t stay still long. Hearing nothing, you decide to change directions but your mistake is discovered quickly when his arm wraps around your middle and you’re lifted off your feet momentarily. You laugh and turn in his arms to face him. He kisses you and you use the opportunity to push him while his guard is down. Something you’d never done before. He stumbles over the tree roots and you turn to run again. He catches your ankle and you go down but you manage to kick his hand away and get to your feet. You can hear him half growl, half laugh at this turn of events. You thread your way through the trees again and then skirt the edge of the creek before doubling back towards the house. You were nearly back to the tree line when your momentum was suddenly brought up short and you landed with your back against a tree. Frank’s body pinned you in place as his hands ripped open his fly. He pulls your clothing away with no patience and within seconds has your legs wrapped around him as he enters your body.
The first thrust is pure bliss. You were thoroughly wet from the excitement of the chase and he roared as he took you. He pounded into you, railing you against that tree. You clutched at him, nails raking across his shoulders and body bowed as your orgasm built.
“Alpha, oh fuck!” You cried out as you felt your body spasm around him. The orgasm slammed through you with the same hard persistence as his cock. A few more jerky thrusts and he was groaning his release. He holds you in place as your breathing returns to normal.
After a moment, you murmur in his ear, “Maybe I should call you caveman instead of marine.”
Frank laughs as he gently pulls away from you, “If I was a caveman, I’d just hit you over the head with a club and drag you to the bedroom by your hair.”
“Mmm, true. Guess I’ll just stick to calling you marine,” you lean in and kiss him.
Making your way back to the house, you look up at the first stars beginning to appear as the sun sets and make a wish. It was a stupid, silly wish that you’d made over and over again since you were a young girl. One that would never come true for a broken omega. As you looked over at the Alpha you were sharing your life with, you wondered why you still wished it. He was more than you ever believed you could have. So, why wasn’t it enough?

Sneaky Link (Billy Russo x Castle!Reader)
MASTERLIST // TAG LIST REQUEST
A/N: Nonnie, the way i RAN to my computer to write this. You’re a genius! Here you go!
Request: Oke so hear me out please...So, Billy Russo and Frank Castle's sister in a backstreet relationship. I know i know it's lame, but i can't imagine Frank's face when he finds out that his sweet-not-so-innocent sister fuck his asshole-but-charming best friend.. Hope you like that idea <3
Tumblr media
Summary: Billy finds himself in trouble with his best friend, Frank, when Frank finds out he’s been messing around with you, Frank’s sweet and innocent sister.
(Warnings: Smut at the beginning, oral (fem receiving), reader is called good girl, cursing (lots of cursing), Frank and Billy get into a physical fight with each other (lol), fluffy Billy, not canon obv)
“Oh fuck, Billy. Just like that. Don’t stop.” You moaned, arching your back. Billy’s tongue was currently making you see stars for the third time that evening. The soft comforter on your bed was soaked in sweat, and Billy wasn’t letting up anytime soon.
“You like that, baby?” He mumbled, circling his tongue around your clit. “Gonna cum again, princess?”
“Shit, shit, shit, shit, yes.” You breathed, squeezing your eyes shut. Your legs were shaking uncontrollably on Billy’s shoulders, who was somehow smirking and still managing to inch you closer to your release.
“You’ve been such a good girl today. Cum on my tongue, princess.”
The moan you let out was unholy as Billy focuses all of his attention on your clit, sucking and licking in perfect tandem. Your body seized as your third orgasm of the day rushes through you, a spark of fiery lust traveling down your spine. Billy doesn’t let up until you physically shove his shoulders away, heart pounding and ears ringing.
You gulp in air, turning to lay on your stomach. Billy’s soft hands run up and down your spine in soothing strokes.
“You did so good, baby.” He mumbled into your ear, planting a soft kiss on the back of your neck.
“You are going to be the death of me, Billy Russo.” You responded, resting your cheek on your folded hands.
“You love it.” He scoffed, chuckling.
You push yourself towards the edge of the bed, searching for your underwear in the trail of clothes that started at your front door and ended by your bed.
“Where are you going?” Billy made himself comfortable, stretching out on the sheets and resting his hands behind his head.
“I told Frank I’d meet him for drinks. That’s where I was headed when you knocked on the door. And now,” you check the time on your phone, “I’m very late. If you leave before I get back, lock the door behind you.”
Billy’s frown is evident as you toss articles of clothing around trying to find your dress. You knew bringing up Frank would cause some anxiety, but you really were going to meet Frank.
“When are we going to tell him?” Billy asked, pointing out the dress that he’d carefully laid on the armchair before ravishing you.
Billy and you had been messing around for months now, all behind Frank’s back. It wasn’t that you were ashamed of Billy, but Frank had always been protective of you, and you were sure he’d be less than thrilled to find out his best friend had been fucking his little sister for the better half of a year.
It hadn’t started on purpose, you reasoned. Frank, you, and Billy had been drinking at a bar when Karen had called Frank, frantic about something. Frank had hurried off, leaving you and Billy to your own devices. Three shots later and Billy was pulling your top off in the bar bathroom.
After that encounter, you’d avoided spending any time alone with Billy, but Billy’s charming and handsome and so good at kissing, so your resolve only lasted a few days. Since then, Billy and you had been sneaking around Frank’s back, stealing glances at each other when Frank wasn’t looking, and sneaking kisses when you could get away with it.
It started as a casual hook-up, but it certainly didn’t develop as one. You and Billy were together. You cooked dinner for each other, went out on dates when you knew Frank wouldn’t stumble across the two of you, and spent most of your free time at each other’s apartments. He brought you flowers every week and referred to you as his girlfriend to his employees at work. You’d even gone to the Anvil Christmas party, albeit as Frank’s plus one, but you were still there, celebrating Billy’s accomplishments with him.
“Did you hear me? When are we going to tell him?” Billy’s voice brought you out of your thoughts.
“I don’t know.” You responded honestly. At this point, no matter how you did it, Frank would be upset that you’d hidden it from him.
“Do you not want to be with me?” Billy rarely sounded insecure, but in that moment, you could feel the insecurities rolling off him. You moved towards the bed, cupping Billy’s cheeks and kissing his nose.
“Of course, I want to be with you, Billy. You’re everything to me. I just don’t know how to explain that to Frank without him trying to murder you. And then me.” you added, pressing your forehead to his.
“We should tell him soon. I don’t like hiding things from him. We’ve always trusted each other.”
“I know. We’ll tell him soon. I promise, okay? But I really have to go.”
Billy nodded, kissing your cheek and standing.
A knock at the door had both of you on alert. You moved to answer it, but Billy stopped you and held out his shirt in his hands. You looked down and realized you were still naked, minus the underwear. A sheepish grin crossed your face as you threw the shirt on.
You swung open the door, ready to tell whatever solicitor that you weren’t interested, but you stopped short when you exchanged glances with your brother, who looked rightfully concerned.
“Where the hell have you been? I waited for you for over an hour, and then you wouldn’t respond to my texts or calls, so I thought ‘Oh she must be getting murdered. Then you open the door with this ridiculous smile on your face, like you aren’t incredibly late for something!”
Frank stormed through the door, and before you can respond, takes in the fact that Billy is standing in your bedroom doorway, shirtless and guilt-ridden. Frank turned and looked at you, glancing down at your shirt and then back at Billy, who is holding his hands up innocently. Frank’s face is stoic, but you can see the rage churning in his eyes. The apartment is so quiet you can hear Billy’s breathing from across the room. The calm before the storm, apparently.
“’the fucks wrong with you, you bastard?” Frank charged at Billy, who only lifted his hands higher to try and push Frank away from him.
“Frank, stop!” You yelped, trying to figure out how to stop Frank from killing your boyfriend. Frank slammed Billy into the wall, punching Billy in the jaw.
“It’s not what you think. I’m not just-”
“Just what? Fucking my sister? I thought you were different, Billy. What the fuck is wrong with you?” Frank’s fist connected with Billy’s face again, and you let out a yelp as blood starts to trickle down Billy’s face.
“Frank, stop! It’s not like that! He’s my boyfriend, Frank! We’re not just messing around!”
Frank freezes, mid-swing, and turns to look at you. He’s very clearly confused at your confession.
“Your boyfriend?” Frank drops Billy, who slumps against the wall and lets out a wheeze. “What do you mean, your boyfriend?”
“I mean, he’s my boyfriend, Frank. We’re together. And we should’ve told you, but I knew you’d react just like this, like a fucking psycho, so I didn’t say anything. And I made Billy promise he wouldn’t say anything to you. If you’re going to be mad at someone, be mad at me.”
“You’re together?” Frank looks between you and Billy, shaking his head. “Like together, together?”
“Yes, now can I please go put some pants on and trust that you’re not going to pummel his face in?”
“I need to talk to you.” Frank points at Billy, who stands and wipes the blood from his face.
“Yeah, alright.” He responds, nodding.
When you make it to your bedroom, you can hear the muffled sound of Frank speaking. He still sounded angry, but at least he wasn’t actively trying to punch Billy anymore. You searched through your drawers until you found an old pair of sweatpants, slowly pulling them on. You wanted to give Billy and Frank enough time to talk it out, but you didn’t want to leave them alone for too much longer.
You creeped through the doorway, where you found Billy sitting on your couch with an ice pack pressed into his jaw, and Frank, searching through your fridge.
“Is everything...good now?” You asked tentatively, looking back and forth between your boyfriend and your brother.
“Yeah, but I don’t wanna see any of that lovey-dovey shit. I’m not happy about it, but I can’t stop you from being an idiot.” Frank responded, pulling three beers out of the fridge and setting them on the counter.
Billy gave you a small smile, but grimaced when pain shot through his jaw again. You could already see the bruises blooming on his face.
“Okay...do you want to watch a movie?” You asked, trying to play it off like this was a totally normal night.
Frank handed you a beer, then handed Billy one.
“Sure, princ- Um.” Billy cleared his throat and said your name. Frank rolled his eyes and sat down next to Billy, which left you the seat next to Frank. You tried not to roll your eyes at Frank’s choice of couch cushions and flopped down next to him. It was going to be a long movie.
When Frank finally left hours later, he sent you a pointed look on his way out the door. He had barely looked at you or Billy the entire night, but you considered it progress anyways. It was better than physically punching each other.
Billy had stretched his legs out on the couch, propping his head up on a pillow.
“So that went...well?” He questioned, raising his eyebrows at you.
“Are you okay? I’m so sorry.” You rushed to his side, trying to get a better look at the bruises forming on Billy’s face.
Billy waved a hand and shrugged. “If all I got was a couple licks to the face, I call that a win. He’ll come around.”
Frank did eventually come around, but he certainly took his time. For the first month after his discovery, he wedged himself inbetween you and Billy as often as he could. Whether it be on the subway, in a bar stool, or at your house, Frank always managed to separate the two of you. It was frustrating, but Billy assured you that he would take the time he needed to get over it and come around.
When Billy took your hand to pull you out of the way of a fast-approaching cab one night, Frank eyed your intertwined hands, and then looked away, pretending not to notice it. You squeezed Billy’s hand in celebration but didn’t say a word. The first time Billy kissed you in front of Frank, he had gotten an emergency call from work and had to rush out of the bar you were sitting in. He had planted a kiss on your lips without thinking about the present company and bolted out the door, leaving you with a very red face.
Frank had taken a sip of his beer and continued the conversation you were having before Billy’s departure. The small victories were few and far between, but you and Billy were patient.
Finally, what felt like months later, Frank made a joke about Billy being your boyfriend, and you felt like you could finally relax. Billy clearly made you happy, so Frank got over it. Later that night, you were wrapped in Billy’s arms in your bed, half-asleep and listening to Billy’s voice as he read from your favorite book.
“You know,” Billy mumbled to your sleeping form, “I hope Frank doesn’t react the same way when I ask you to marry me.”
He chuckled as you snuggled into his chest, unconscious to the world around you. You and Billy hadn’t spoken about marriage, but he had clear intentions with you. He wasn’t going to let you get away.
He leaned over and clicked the lamp off, sending the room into complete darkness.
“Goodnight, my love.” He sighed, kissing your hair. “I can’t wait to say that to you for the rest of our lives.”

Objects in Motion
Part 2
Alpha!Billy Russo x Omega! Reader
Part 1 here
Tumblr media
You’re deep in sleep when a loud bang wakes you.
Bolting up with a gasp, your heart pounds in your chest for a few minutes. You’re not sure what the noise was- a door slamming shut, or maybe something falling in the apartment above you, but the echo of it in your head keeps you awake for a while, hating that your anxiety doesn’t let you sleep.
.
You go to another dry cleaners, you do your best to avoid going out. You go to work, and back home for a couple of weeks, worried that someone will find you and scold you for what you’ve done.
You think about being scolded by him, you doubt you’d be able to last a moment in his presence.
After you’d ensured the safe delivery of the coat, did you finally research the owner.
William Russo, his stoic, borderline angry expression staring back at you through your computer screen had only made you aroused all over again.
This, this was the Alpha with a scent so magnetic, you couldn’t resist it.
He was rich, a CEO, and you could only look around your threadbare apartment and sigh sadly, there was nothing you could offer him that would interest him.
So, you try to move on with your life, work hard so you can afford to buy alleviators for your next heat, and stay away from alphas that would no doubt hurt you.
The art museum was a big comfort. On a Friday evening, when it was at its emptiest, you’d go in, and stare at all the paintings. You’d study the brushstrokes till your eyes burned, items like Starry Night, and Street Light were beautiful works that always made you dare to dream of a life better than the one you were in. Today however, The Lovers was the one that kept you most occupied.
Two people, with white cloths over their heads as they lean into each other, kissing.  Hidden from each other’s sight, you wonder if the painting only holds its romance because of the seemingly anonymity of the subjects. If the mystery was removed, would there be more love, or less?
It was kind of how you felt right now, pained, searching for something that you weren’t familiar with. An alpha, to call your own.
None of the alphas you’d met had ever been right for you. There was an entitlement written into them, the belief that your station was lesser, so you were supposed to submit. Alphas constantly lived with that air of superiority surrounding them, and they were easily upset when you did not give them what they wanted.
The alphas you dated were wrong to think that submission was something freely given, in reality, it had to be earned.
You wondered if the alpha on your mind would ask nicely.
Probably not. It was a good thing he existed only in your fantasies.
.
Your omega privilege means you get to stay a little after closing. You smile gratefully in the security guard’s direction when he comes to escort you out.
“We’ve got a new piece coming in tomorrow. You won’t be able to stay late anymore, but I’m sure you’ll like it.”
You smile in delight.
“Do you know which one it is?” You ask.
“Not really, not much of an art guy, but it’s a big deal, really expensive.”
You nod, enthusiastically.
“Well, I can’t wait.” You reply, wishing the beta a good night when you finally reach the exit, pulling your jacket tighter around you to protect from the cold.
.
Not for the first time in his life, he feels the loneliness.
It’s only that he’s never felt it quite like this. Usually, people just didn’t want him, his mother gave him up when he was a baby, and he’d never really understood why. Through his life, people had assumed he’d present as a beta, because he’d been a scrawny kid. Things had only gotten worse when at ten, his alpha denomination had shown through.
Then, everyone had wanted a piece of him, an opportunity to say that they’d fought an alpha and won, uncaring of his age and size- the world had forced him to become ruthless very quickly.
He’d let the world’s rejection shape him, and he’d only realised that when he’d met Frank.
Frank had made him understand, that alphas were not supposed to be cruel, but rather the very definition of safety and security.
He'd tried his best to ignore the hollow feeling inside of him, and that had worked.
At least, it had, up until he'd smelled that stupid coat.
Now, it was like someone had taken a piece of him and ran off with it, ripped a carefully placed bandage off and left him with an open wound. He could feel the absence, like if it was a whole other person in the room.
He wanted his omega.
It was all he’d thought about now, as he pressed the coat to his nose every night, struggling to catch her fading scent, he wondered if he’d ever be able to sleep again when the scent fully faded.
He keeps going, maybe he even pushes himself harder, his work distracts him, helps him keep a clear head.
He’d even accepted a job to secure artwork for the museum, even though his specialty was protecting people, and Frank was usually the man that handled asset protection.
He’s following closely behind The Scream when he stops dead in his tracks.
One of his employees tosses him a confused glance, but he ignores it as he takes a deep inhale.
He’d know that vanilla scent anywhere, the smell of apples mixed in and his heart gives an eager kick.
Surely not-
He turns his head, sees a painting of two lovers hiding from each other, kissing through a shroud of white cloth. He studies it for a moment, his mind racing at speeds he can’t fathom.
When the painting gets too far ahead, he turns and resumes his stride, thinking about all the ways he can do his best to get what he wants.
.
He gets permission to access the security footage of the museum.
Who’s really going to deny an alpha anyway?
Billy finds her, or at least the back of her head, and he can’t help the excitement that after weeks of searching, he’s managed to get lucky and obtain a lead on her.
He talks to the security guard that walked her out. With a sleepy voice over the phone, the man tells him that she’s a frequent visitor to the museum on Fridays, and she doesn’t cause any trouble so he lets her stay a little after closing.
“She just likes looking at the pieces, and I can’t be mean to an omega as shy as her.”
Billy’s mouth twitches upward, amused at the biological imprint inside everyone to protect omegas. The men who’d done her a favour to deliver his coat had said near the same thing.
It had made him fond, of a sweet girl, that would no doubt be spooked if he showed up at her home unannounced. Even if he now had the means to trace her back to her home, he couldn’t take the risk. He had to play this right.
.
When you hear Edvard Munch’s The Scream is on display, you vibrate with excitement. Instead of going the opening week, you wait till your usual time the next Friday, when hopefully there’s much less of a crowd to contend with.
It’s not completely empty, but you’re okay with the sparse crowd, you smile, tiptoeing to peek over shoulders so that you can catch a sight of it before you’re at the front.
You love everything about it, the colour and the expressionism of it, you wonder how much the paint has faded over time. The little paragraph beside the painting describes an infinite scream, a universal anxiety, and you think you can almost feel that as you stare at it, the idea that you’re being watched sending a nervous thrill down your spine.
When you move away from the painting however, the feeling lingers. You take a deep breath, closing your eyes to shake the feeling, you don’t understand how a painting can have such an effect.
To clear your head, you find an impressionist nearby, Monet’s reflections of clouds on a lily pond, and you stand in front of it, letting out a long sigh.
When the distinct smell of bergamot hits you, you stiffen.
Your heart squeezes into your throat, and you try to look around as casually as possible, betas turn to look at you as they scent your distress in the air.
Did you feel like you were being watched- because you were actually being watched?
You take in another breath, and this time, you’re sure.
Cracked pepper, citrus-
The alpha was here.
Someone says your name behind you, and you turn in fright.
There he was. Dressed down in casual clothes, trying to blend in with the people around him- as if an alpha as handsome as him ever could.
Billy Russo was devastatingly gorgeous up close.
But you were fucked.
Your eyes widen and you take a step back, knowing that this was definitely about stealing his coat. He would no doubt try to make you pay for cleaning- or worse yet- a new coat entirely.
Your body flushes with fear as you back away from him on shaky legs.
His head tilts as he watches you go, dark eyes caught on your retreating form.
“Don’t run, omega.” He says easily, taking a single stride as you back away, his presence looming over you, igniting something in your stomach like a match being struck.
You make a small sound in the back of your throat, and you do exactly what he says not to.
You run.
Well, not exactly.
More like a quick walk, looking back to see if he follows, you beeline for the bathroom, hoping to hide in there for a moment.
You groan, splashing your face with water, internally grumbling over what you've gotten yourself into.
You should have never grabbed that stupid coat with your stupid omega senses always searching for the right alpha. What did you think? That just because he’d had an amazing scent meant that he wanted to take care of you?
No, he was probably going to scold you, and force you to pay him back, and you couldn’t afford three thousand for a coat.
Your throat tightens in panic, your body flushes with fear.
You couldn’t think too much on what he would do if he caught you, all you needed to focus on right now, was getting away.
So you take a deep breath and you shed your jacket, tucking it under your arm and stepping out of the bathroom behind someone.
There’s not a lot of people, but luckily you know the museum, and you take the most secluded paths that you doubt anyone unfamiliar to the museum would know of.
You sigh happily when you see the exit door in sight, making large meaningful steps, looking back every now and then. Behind you is empty, and you think that you might have actually lost him.
It sends a pang of sadness through you, but you shake your head to shove it away.
You look back once more when you push your way through the exit doors, making sure the path behind you is clear of any six foot alphas.
And you walk right into him.
You’re not sure it is at first, but his size and smell give it away. Your face is pressed securely to his chest, and his hands come up to grip your upper arms firmly.
You raise your head in panic, trying to wrench back from him.
“Relax omega, you’re not in any trouble, I promise.” He says, something in his voice that makes his words sound believable.
You whine in distress.
“Please, I’m sorry, I can’t afford to replace your coat. I shouldn’t have taken it.” You plead, voice wobbling with the struggle to speak under duress.
“Shh, little one, I’m not here to ask you for money.”
His words don’t register in your head, and you begin to cry. Thick swells of tears fall from the corners of your eyes.
“I can’t pay.” You struggle out in a tiny voice.
He grunts, his hands move to cup your face, your tears spilling onto his fingers instead.
“Omega.” He says meaningfully.
The command in his tone makes you look up at him, brain going quiet, the power of his voice catching your attention easily. His stern expression softens.
“I’m not here to make you pay for anything, and I promise you’re not in any trouble.”
You make a little sniffle.
“ ‘M not?” You ask weakly.
The corner of his mouth curves up.
“No, I just want to talk.”
“Talk?” You repeat dumbly.
His thumbs trace over your cheekbones gently, a soft tingling sensation swims in your head and settles at the top of your spine. Your eyelids flutter as you watch him nod.
“I’ve been searching for you for weeks, omega, since you left me that coat drenched in your sweet scent, I haven’t had a clear thought since.”
You gulp.
“I’m sorry.” You whisper.
“Don’t be sorry just-” He squeezes his eyes shut as if he’s looking for the right words, “Have dinner with me. Tonight. My treat.”
You take a deep breath, eyes widening.
“I’m not sure it’s such a good idea.”
He lets out a swift breath, you worry that you might be aggravating him.
“What aren’t you sure about? Your safety?”
You feel your heart pick up its pace beneath your ribcage, tormenting your body with the feeling of panic.
You reach up, cupping his hands in yours and peeling them off your cheeks.
“Alphas are… notorious for getting angry when they don’t get their way.” You reply anxiously, your hands uncurling from his, filled with so much trepidation.
“I understand, but give me a chance to prove myself. There’s something between us, omega, you just have to open yourself up to it.”
You blink, stomach flipping as you debate your options.
You eye him warily, too afraid to say no, too scared of how he would react.
You take another step back, and his face looks pained, his body tense.
You shake your head, scared, taking another cautious step away.
“Please don’t run.” He says softly, it makes you pause.
Maybe… maybe a chance wouldn’t be so bad.
“What about lunch tomorrow?” Somewhere bright and public that would make you feel safer about being around him.
He lets out a slow breath.
“Lunch is great. Where?”
You think for a moment.
“We can meet right here, there’s a place not far from here with nice sandwiches.”
He inclines his head.
“Sandwiches are great.”
You give him a soft smile of amusement, still a little unsure.
“Okay, we’ll meet here tomorrow? Around 12?”
He nods, digging into his pockets for a moment before pulling a card out and extending it to you.
You blink, a little cautious, reaching for the obsidian coloured paper in his hand. You study the raised silver lettering, his name, his job title, his company.
“The one on the left is my cell. Let me know when you get here. If you want, we can look around the museum too.”
Something flips in your chest at the thought. You wonder what he thought of The Scream.
“No,” You mumble, shaking your head, “The museum is packed on a Saturday. I hate crowds.”
He nods in understanding.
“No crowds then, maybe we can take a walk in the park.”
“Maybe.” You reply, still a little unsure of this entire scenario.
“You're safe, Omega, I promise.”
You offer a sad smile.
“That's what they all say.”
.
He was going to kill every Alpha that had ever made you feel unsafe.
He sits in his car, after you'd denied his offer to at least take you home.
Your scent fades where he'd touched you, his body demanding more. Apples, so fucking sweet his mouth waters.
Halfway to his home, a text comes in from you, shyly informing him that you'd made it home.
He'd asked, wanted to make sure that you were safe as the late evening had turned to night.
He keeps it simple, types out a small message to put you at ease.
Thank you. Sweet dreams
.

A/N: Pretty sure y'all are gonna hate this. Sorry.
Also, just asking for more without leaving any kind of feedback makes me feel kinda used 😅

Bond to Happen Part 10
Part 10: Only One Bed
Warnings: thunderstorm, anxiety, mild flashback
Word Count: 3900ish
Tumblr media
“C’mon, Frank. You’re backing out of our deal!” You grouse.
“I’ll make it up to you, kid, but plans changed and Bill needs me to stay behind and supervise some of the new recruits,” Frank explains the last minute change in site check.
You lean back and see that Billy’s door is open as he packs up his laptop.
“William,” you whine. “Did Frank ask to get out of going today so he can avoid paying up?”
“Sorry, sweetheart, Josie’s got the flu and we need an extra pair of hands here while we’re gone,” he says, walking into the hallway.
“Alright,” you accept, pouting.
“What did he promise you?” Billy asks, amused.
“Control of the music for the drive there and back,” you share.
“Damn, Castle, are you sure you didn’t get Josie sick to get out of this?” He teases.
“Hey, my taste in music isn’t that bad. Taylor Swift is a lyrical genius. Frank just refuses to listen to music from this century.”
“Tell you what, since you’re driving with me now, you can control the music on the way there, but I get veto power and no promises for the drive back,” Billy says sternly, pointing his finger at you.
“Yay!” You exclaim, giving a little jump before practically skipping down the hallway towards the elevator.
“You realize what you’ve done, right Russo?” Frank asks incredulously as they lag behind.
“She gets nervous on these trips sometimes, if it makes her feel better, I can suffer through Taylor Swift and the entire Moana soundtrack,” Billy says.
“She’s actually moved on to the Encanto one now,” Frank warns.
“Great,” Billy responds wryly as they catch up to you right when the elevator doors open.
You are ready to go and get it over with, but Billy ends up having to handle a few things first, and then it’s almost lunch time and he insists the two of you eat before you go, which takes longer than it should, and then you somehow spill your coffee all over yourself and have to go back to your apartment to rinse of and change because Billy says you should be comfortable especially with a long drive. By the time you finally get on the road, it’s well into the afternoon. The two of you are lucky that the real estate agent is fine with your tardiness. It’s too late in the day for him to give you a tour so he just tells you where to find the key and asks you to lock up when you are done.
“This will be fun,” you grin as you chuck your purse into the backseat. True to everyone’s expectations, you play Taylor Swift and various Disney songs for almost the entire drive, giggling when Billy makes a face or rolls his eyes at your antics. In your defense, you had a lot of nervous energy and dramatically reenacting ‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno’ helped focus some of it.
“I’ll give you a break from my caterwauling,” you decide, turning the music down.
“You’re fine, sweetheart, sing as loud as you want. You ever heard Frankie sing?” Billy asks, smiling softly.
“No, is he any good?”
“No, he’s not,” Billy answers, shaking his head with a grin.
“What about you?” You ask, curious, eyes fixed onto his face as he focuses on the road. Something flickers across his face, an emotion you can’t name before it’s gone.
“I don’t sing,” he confesses.
“Ever?”
“Nope.”
“Damn, what do you like to do, then?”
Billy grins lasciviously. You interrupt him before he can speak. “A real answer, Russo,
I’ve seen enough women coming to and from your apartment to know you’re a rake.”
“A rake, huh?” He asks, shooting a look at you. You shrug.
“I figure it’s a more polite term.” You shrug.
“Fine, fine, gimme a second to think of another answer,” he sighs. After a minute or two he admits, “I like to read sometimes.”
“What’s your favorite book?”
“The Picture of Dorian Gray,” he answers.
“I’ve only ever watched the movie,” you profess.
“The book’s always better than the movie, Blue,” he says, clicking his tongue at you.
“I’m sure it is, it’s just not really the sort of book I usually read.”
“What is?”
“The official answer is going to be fantasy romance,” you declare.
“And the unofficial one?” Billy asks with a sly grin on his face.
“Nope, we are sticking with the official answer.”
His grin widens and now you’re wondering if he actually knows what ‘oh yeah, I just read fantasy romance’ is code for.
“You aren’t even gonna tell me the last book you read?” He feigns offense.
“I’ve been going through the ‘A Court of Rose and Thorns’ series,” you confess.
“Faerie porn?” He laughs.
“How do you even know what that is?”
He shrugs. “Never read it, but I’ve been told about it.”
“By who?” You ask, narrowing your eyes.
“Probably some of the women you’ve seen going to and from my apartment,” he teases.
“Ew.” You say, wrinkling your nose. “You can barely call it porn. It’s not even that smutty, mid level at best.”
“Oh really, sweetheart? What books would you consider ‘smutty’ enough for you?”
You rub a hand over your face as you blush. “I’m gonna stop talking now since I’m just digging myself in deeper.”
Billy lets it go for a moment and you think you’re in the clear when he says, “So I’m guessing you have kindle unlimited too, then.”
You huff at the smug look on his face. “You know too much, Russo, you’re a menace to women everywhere.”
“Only to the ones that ask nicely.” He winks and you groan in annoyance.
******
“This wall is problematic,” you tell Billy. “You should have someone look at it, I think there’s some structural integrity issues that won’t show up initially but may be a problem within the next few years.”
Billy nods and adds your comments to his notes. The sky is dark outside, though you know the sun had only just begun to set. Gray clouds have blocked out the sun and it’s been raining softly with the occasional far off clap of thunder.
“Also the owners are going to hype it up if you make an offer like they have a bunch of people interested in it. They don’t, only a couple of people have even looked at it this year and no one’s asked about renting or purchasing it.”
“What would I do without you?” Billy asks.
“Literally, just fine. You’d figure all of this out eventually, I just tell you a little sooner,” you say dryly. It was true of most of what you saw for your job, most of it he and he team would either find out eventually or would be easily prepared to handle. Only occasionally did you give them a pivotal piece of information. Sometimes you wonder why he kept you in your position, especially with how well he pays you.
“Well then, you save me a whole lotta time,” Billy insists, shoving his hands in his pockets. “You ready to get outta here?”
“Yeah, I don’t think there’s anything else I can tell you right now,” you admit.
“Maybe we can grab food on the way back, I’m starving.”
“That sounds like a g-” a loud crack of thunder interrupts you and you let out an involuntary shriek. You feel your face redden at your reaction, even as you feel your heart continue to pound painfully in your chest from the jolt to your senses. “Sorry, I was going to say that sounds like a good idea.”
Billy’s watching you curiously and you’re not sure what to make of it.
“Not a fan of storms, huh?” He asks.
You shake your head. “Not unless I’m in my bed and they’re a bit farther off. The thunder gets too loud for me.” Not to mention the sheer energy thunderstorms had. It always makes your hair stand on end and the back of your neck prickle. You used to love them, but now your most prominent memory of a thunderstorm is one of the worst nights of your life.
The two of you move through the building as the rain comes down more heavily against the windows. You reach the exit and it’s positively pouring.
“Bet you’re regretting that fancy suit right now,” you tease to cover your nerves. Billy continues to eye you with that strange look in his eyes, a little too analytical for your comfort.
“Bet you’re regretting not bringing a real jacket,” he volleys back. He’s right, your black cardigan may be comfy and long enough to reach your knees, but it’s not going to do much against this weather.
“Let’s just get this over with,” you huff, running out before he can react. Even with your head start, you reach the car at the same time and he opens your door for you, something you roll your eyes at. He slips into the driver’s seat, previously perfectly coiffed hair, now soaked and beginning to curl at the tips. You open the navigation on your phone and begin directing Billy back to the freeway. There’s a good amount of traffic considering the time, and you wish you’d had the forethought to try and leave earlier in the day to avoid it. Billy tries to start a conversation a few times, but you’re too focused on not flinching everytime you see lightning or hear thunder to talk much. Not even 30 minutes into your slowly moving drive, a traffic alert comes through your phone.
“Well fuck,” you say.
“What is it?” Billy asks, glancing at you.
“There’s a pretty bad accident up ahead a ways, the road crumbled in a few places from the rain and caused a 7 car pile up.”
“Well fuck,” Billy agrees. “Okay, we’ll get off at this exit and reroute, yeah?”
You nod, looking for alternative routes, all of which are currently congested with people who had the same idea. “Traffic’s pretty bad on the long way home. There are a couple back roads around it, but the advisory says to avoid them cuz they’re prone to flooding.”
Another peal of thunder punctuates your words and your hands jerk up to cover your ears as your eyes squeeze tightly shut. When it passes, you force your body to relax. Billy’s focused on the road as he takes the exit to a small town that you can barely make out through the rain. But you catch him glancing at you with concern. You don’t know how Billy can see enough to drive and the thought makes your muscles tense more with fear. He pulls into a fast food parking lot and parks, before taking your phone and checking the routes.
“Are you able to see a good way home?” He asks, turning towards you in his seat. You try, you really do. But you’re a bit drained from earlier and your body is so tense from the near constant thunder, that you can only see images from the storm.
“I can’t focus enough to see anything but the storm. I’m sorry, Russo, I should’ve noticed it before we left or at least checked this morning.”
“It’s okay, I know your sight’s not an exact science and you’re probably already exhausted from the week we’ve had. It ain’t your fault,” he reassures you. You nod robotically at his words, not really sure if you believe them. If something happened and he ended up getting hurt because you were too tired to see, you don’t know if you could forgive yourself.
Billy runs a hand through his hair and hums in thought. “I have an idea, but I don’t know if you’re gonna like it, so the decision is yours.”
“Okay, hit me,” you say as you try to smile through the anxiety still caught in your chest.
“The freeway is going to be backed up for hours with how bad that crash is and it looks like the asphalt is still continuing to crumble. There is a back road that might work, but this car isn’t really made to deal with any potential mud or flooding and we might end up getting stuck out there somewhere until the storm clears.
“My idea is we stop here for the night or until things clear up, there’s a hotel down the street. We can grab a room and watch some shitty TV while we wait, maybe get some rest. It’s up to you.”
You consider it. You don’t like sleeping in new places for obvious reasons and hotels are usually more densely populated than your apartment building which would make it near impossible to rest under normal conditions. But if you were close to Billy, his aura would probably be a buffer for most of it. And you really don’t want to spend hours more out in the storm tonight.
“I’d be okay with that,” you admit.
*****
“It could be worse,” you say as you look at the full sized and single gray arm chair in the corner. Billy drops his duffle onto the ground by the bed. He keeps a back up bag in the trunk of all his cars just in case. It has some extra clothes, first aid, some MRE’s, guns and ammo (which he kept in the car, he only brought in the gun he always carries on him), and a few knives.
“There isn’t even a couch,” Billy laments, rubbing his hand over his face.
“But there is a TV,” you counter. “And a microwave for if I end up reheating this food in the middle of the night. I still can’t believe you ordered that much for me, it’s like you’ve never eaten a meal with me before.” You stuff another chicken nuggets in your mouth and hum happily.
He rolls his eyes at you and loosens his tie, a motion your eyes track closely and you swallow. “I’ve seen you eat after readings, I’ve learned it’s better to have extra than not enough.”
“Good point. No one is fun when they’re hangry.” You set down the bag of food and pull off your cardigan, it’s soaked through after the two of you had to park on the far end of the hotel lot and run through the rain again. Your lilac colored shirt sticks to your skin and you hope you chose to wear a white bra this morning, but you can’t remember for sure. Billy reaches into his duffle and tosses a bundle of red and gray fabric at you. You catch it before it can hit the ground and look at him questioningly.
“I figured you might want something dry to wear,” he says and you notice him looking very pointedly away from you. You look down at yourself. Looks like you had chosen your black bra this morning. You really hadn't expected this shirt to become so sheer when wet.
You thank him and quickly move to the bathroom, shucking your soaked clothes, including your bra which is almost as soaked as your shirt and currently rubbing your skin raw. You towel dry your hair, grateful to remove some of the excess moisture, before getting dressed. The clothes smell like Billy, something slightly spicy sweet, sandalwood, and hints of the scent of his ridiculously expensive hair products. You like it more than you want to admit.
You pull on the red henley, it’s a bit big on you, especially in the sleeves, but it’s soft and comfortable. The gray sweatpants, on the other hand, have to be rolled up several times so they don’t drag on the floor. You trade places with Billy so he can change as well. While you wait, you choose a side of the bed and settle down. Flicking on the TV and surfing through the channels.
Billy comes out and you do a double take. You swear his black t-shirt is a size too small because it leaves very little to the imagination. He’s wearing matching black sweats, something you take note of before quickly averting your eyes. Thinking about Billy Russo in sweatpants was not going to lead to anything good. But he moves around to your side of the bed, partially obscuring your view of the TV.
“Move over,” he orders.
“What, why?” You ask, confused. You’d already settled in and gotten comfortable, legs tucked underneath you, arms wrapped around an extra pillow.
“So I’m closer to the door, now move,” he says, gesturing with his hands.
You roll your eyes. “If it’s that important to you, then alright.” You shuffle over to the other side and he takes your spot.
“It’s a force of habit,”
“Frank usually sleeps farthest from the door, something about having more reaction time. I thought you’d do the same,” you explain.
“If I was alone, sure,” he shrugs, stealing the remote.
“Rude, I was still using that.” You don’t really mind though, you’re tired and don’t care what’s on. “What’s the difference? With where you sleep, I mean.”
“This way, if someone came in, they’d reach me before you,” he says.
“Oh.” You think it’s a nice sentiment, though you doubt anyone is going to attack you in the middle of a storm at some random hotel. Even so, it reminds you of your mom and dad. Looking back, you remember how he always slept closest to the door, always walked on the sidewalk closer to the street. Little things that didn’t seem like much at the time, but just reinforced how much he loved your mom. It made your chest ache to think about. Sometimes you miss them so much, even with how they treated you at the end, even with how angry you are at them.
Billy turns on some sort of discovery channel show and sets the remote down on the nightstand. You notice that he’s scooted as far towards the edge of the bed as possible, but even with that, his shoulders are broad enough and the bed is small enough that it’s only sheer force of will that keeps you from touching. You yawn, turning off the lamp on your own nightstand.
“You don’t have to sit like that on my account, Bill.” You yawn again, exhaustion fully hitting you as your adrenaline high from the storm dissipates. “I don’t mind either way.” “You sure?” he checks.
You nod. “Mmhmm.”
You feel the bed shift as he relaxes a bit. He’s close enough that you can feel the heat from his body at your side. You are hyper aware of every movement of your body, every breath and blink. Billy is so close to you and your fingers itch to reach out and touch him.
A particularly loud blast of thunder rattles the windows and the lights flicker. You managed not to make a noise this time by biting your bottom lip hard and digging your nails into your palm.
“Is there anythin’ I can do?” Billy asks.
“It’s okay. It’s an irrational fear.”
“It took me a long time to get used to thunderstorms once I left the Marines,” Billy admits.
“How did you?”
Billy shrugs. “I forced myself to face it, any of the loud noises that uh triggered me, and eventually I was more or less over it. I wouldn’t recommend that way though.” He adds the last bit as an afterthought, looking at you from the corner of his eye.
“Maybe I should. I guess my preferred method is to avoid things and hope they go away. It would be nice to actually be able to enjoy storms again.”
“Did you used to?”
“Yeah, I used to love them.”
“What changed?”
Blood, pain, pavement, minds full of fire. You push down the memories.
“You don’t have to say if you aren’t comfortable. I don’t mean to pry.”
“I had a bad experience during a storm. Haven’t liked them since.”
Billy nods in understanding. The lights flicker and go out in another crash of thunder and you can’t help but reach out and grasp Billy’s arm as you startle.
“Sorry,” you say as you remove your hand.
“S’okay, you can hold my hand anytime you want, sweetheart.” Even through the dark you can see his wink.
“You are incorrigible,” you complain, but secretly you’re grateful for him. That actually managed to make you smile just a little.
In the dark, the exhaustion hits you more fully and you stifle a yawn.
“I think I’m going to take a nap, wake me if anything changes?” You force yourself to say as your body tries to fall asleep. You’re not sure he hears you and you think you’re mumbling a bit as you sink onto your side, facing away from him and towards the window. You’re warm enough in his clothes that you stay on top of the blankets.
“‘Course, sweetheart, get some rest.”
“Night, Billy.” You’re out before you hear his reply.
******
There are many things that Billy does not like, many things that he even hates. Handsy strangers, cheap shoes, traffic, being called pretty, green beans, the summer heat, and sand to name a few. Billy adds seeing you afraid to the list. The urge to comfort someone doesn’t come naturally. He has had to practice and teach himself how to react when people are upset. Billy has the opposite problem with you. The urge to comfort you is too strong. Your trust is a fragile thing and this is not the night to push your boundaries. Still, Billy wishes he could wrap you in his arms and cover your ears until the storm passes.
As is, the moment he hears your breathing settle and feels your body relax into sleep, he lets himself reach out and brush his fingertips against your hair and down to your shoulder. It most definitely is not because he craves contact after the brief touches you have gifted him, albeit often subconsciously. It’s also not because he wants reassurance that you are real and safe by his side. No, it is neither of those two reasons. Billy does not have an explanation for why he does it. He does not have an explanation for why he watches you through the darkness as you sleep. Only when you turn towards him and lean your forehead against his arm does Billy finally allow himself to close his eyes and rest.
******
The first thing you notice when you wake up, is how quiet it is. Not physically quiet, you hear the air conditioner rattling on full blast and know the power must have returned during the night. Your magic is quiet. No auras buzzing for your attention. Just Billy’s soothing and steady energy. The second thing you notice is that your face is pressed against something warm. Your eyes flutter open and you’re surprised to note that you turned towards him at some point in the night, apparently going as far as to lean your forehead against his bicep. You’re too comfortable to move and your self control seems to still be asleep so you stay where you are, readily breathing in Billy’s scent. After a few minutes of peace, you’re awake enough to realize you need to move before you cross any boundaries so you pull away. You aren’t sure if Billy noticed your cuddling at any point during the night, as he wakes up and greets you only once you return from the bathroom. You also aren’t sure what to do with the burgeoning realization that you wanted him. And with your magic being so agreeable around him, maybe, just maybe, you could have him.

You see him with her in the drink aisle; she’s flirting as he grabs your favorite wine, and puts it in the cart. You feel the sting of jealousy; she’s beautiful.
She was like Snow White, or maybe some Twilight vampire, minus the sparkling. A Volturi member, ready to kill you for your blood. Or maybe—a fairy but ones with claws, and fangs. A human—you stop yourself as you go on yet another tangent.
You look down at yourself in your sweatpants and one of his PT shirts you’d swiped. You made a habit of stealing his clothes like a little gnome, they were comfortable. And they smelled like him. You casually make your way over, missing the way his eyes light up when he sees you.
You know your neighbor isn’t yours, but god you want him to be. Karen had seen him twirling you around in the hallway, with a glass of wine in your hands, somehow not spilling.
“I got the better wine.” He had husked in your ear, opening his apartment door.
“Are you sayin’ I have cheap wine, sir?” You had huffed.
He hummed, “‘I’m trying to catch a fairy.” He said, breath tickling your ear.
You had stumbled forward, nearly spilling the wine.
He laughed, “First day on your new legs, Ariel?” He said, helping you into the apartment.
“He’s an asshole, but a beautiful one, isn’t he?”
When you approach, the woman looks at you with disdain. But Billy wraps his arm around you, kissing your mouth, making your cheeks blaze, and eyebrows raise in surprise. “Hey, fairy.” He says, smiling at your wide eyed expression.
The woman curls her lip glaring at you, before she leaves the two of you. Not a vampire, then. He sighs once she’s gone. “What a pain in the ass. They only ever want my beauty. I’m a goddamn prize to them.” He admits in irritation.
“You could walk around with a bag over your head. Like Scarecrow. I’d dress up like Batman, too. You know, so you won’t be alone. Or a pumpkin like the headless horseman. We could put LED lights inside to give it the murder kitten vibe, and I could be Ichabod Crane, or—” You ramble, the train wreck gaining speed.
He cuts you off, kissing you mouth, tasting your iced coffee, and you make a surprised noise in the back of your throat.
He looks at you as he pulls back, and gives you a boyish grin, making butterflies erupt in your belly. “Wanna get some wine and snacks?” He asks you, pointing to the wine in the cart, enjoying your sweet smile.
“We could have a movie night, we could watch the Terminator, or Alien. Bloodthirsty aliens against a woman and her cat, I’m also not opposed to homicidal dinosaurs, or The Mummy, gets the ancient Egypt nerd in me happy—” You ramble.
Billy grins, cheeks dimpling. “Sounds good, fairy.”
You both agree no to rom-coms (you loathe those, something Karen never understood, “Romance and comedy, what could be better?” She asked you one time. “Criminal Minds. Serial killers and Spencer Reid,” you had deadpanned. Karen had blanched), so you and Billy decided to throw some movies in a bowl, and select one.
Forging relationships has always been difficult, due to you being so ditsy and a chatterbox.
Maybe with Billy, it doesn’t have to be.
x
“Young man?” An older lady stops Billy in his tracks as he moves to climb the stairs. Her hair is graying, and pulled up in a tight bun; she has laugh lines, and her eyes are warm.
“Yeah?” Billy asks, one foot on the step in front of him, body turned.
“Thank you for befriending her. I’ve always worried about how isolated she is. But she seems at ease with you. No one should be alone all the time.” She says, and Billy’s heart aches at the image of you alone with no one.
You peek from the top of the stairs, “Bill?” You say impatiently, giving him golden retriever energy.
“Comin’,” he says, turning back to the lady who shoos him up the stairs.
“What’d she want?” You ask, bouncing on the balls of your feet, noticing an outline of a knife in his combat boot.
Billy ruffles your hair distracting you, “Just worried about you.” He hums, kissing your cheek. “How about that movie night?”
You give him a sweet smile, giggling as he raced you down to the end of the hall where your shared apartment was, carrying chips and salsa.
He was going to steal your heart, you were sure of it.

Chapter Eight
The gentle touch of his fingers on your cheek woke you and, for a few seconds, you weren’t sure where you were. Billy was crouched in front of you, smiling softly. Your eyes threatened to close again, feeling exhausted and like all of it was just a dream.
“Hey,” he muttered softly, his fingers still tenderly caressing your cheek. “Are you okay?”
Finally, you managed to wake yourself up enough to realise that you weren’t dreaming, and that you’d fallen asleep on the sofa beneath the yellow blanket Billy had bought for you.
“I’m fine, just tired,” you told him, slowly sitting up.
Billy remained crouched in front of you, tenderly cupping your cheek and looking almost concerned.
“Did you draw too much blood again?”
“No, it's not that. I did that hours ago. I'm just really tired.”
“Just tired?” He pressed the back of his cold hand to your forehead, checking your temperature.
“And my head hurts a little.”
“When is, uh -” he hesitated, almost looking uncharacteristically embarrassed, “- when is your next period due?”
Your cheeks warmed with both the realisation and the fact that Billy had figured it out before you. That was why you felt so awful. “Soon, I think? I-I lost track of the days after I moved in,” you explained, “and I've never been very, uh… regular…”
Thankfully, Billy just nodded and sat himself beside you, an arm around you pulling you into his side.
“Do you need to go lay down?”
“No I - I want to spend time with you,” you told him, resting your head on his shoulder. “We didn't really get to finish talking last night…”
“Was there something else you wanted to say or ask?” Billy asked softly, shifting a little so you could get comfortable against him.
You stayed silent for a few moments, thinking over all of the things you wanted to ask, wondering what you had the right to ask. “What causes it? What makes you feel like everything is... too much? I’ve only ever seen a vampire lose control from hunger...”
“Sometimes it’s hunger,” he offered reluctantly, “other times it’s just... I don’t know. Even before I was turned, I was never any good at controlling my emotions. And, now, I feel like I’m constantly fighting myself. When I’m with you, I feel like I’m drowning. Everything about you; your scent, the taste of your blood, the way your heart races... it’s a lot to try and ignore.”
Although the words were spoken to you, about you, you knew better than to read too much into them. It was the constant proximity, he probably felt that way around any human after enough time. It wasn’t because he felt anything for you.
“That sounds exhausting.”
“It is,” he admitted, waiting for a beat before asking; “why did you apologise? I lost control but you apologised.”
“Because I -” you stopped yourself before the lie managed to leave your lips. It hadn’t been your fault, as difficult as it was for you to accept that fact, you knew it was true. “Because I’ve always been made to feel like it’s my fault when bad things happen to me. The night we met, you asked me what I was running from, and that’s part of it; I was raised to feel ashamed and believe I deserved everything bad that happened to me.”
You heard him inhale sharply before he pressed a kiss to the top of your head. He was silent a moment before speaking again.
“Who left you?” He asked softly. You lifted your head, frowning. “Last night when you asked why I was leaving you it just… you sounded hurt, like someone had left you before…”
“My sister,” you answered, “she left home when she was eighteen and my parents disowned her because of it. She said she'd come back for me, but she never did.”
“Why did she leave?”
“My parents wanted her to marry a guy she didn’t want to marry.”
“Is that why you left?” He asked and immediately seemed to regret it when your gaze dropped. “Sorry, you don’t have to answer that.”
A moment later, you snuggled back into his side and closed your eyes. “How long until you have to go to work?”
“I can stay another twenty minutes,” he told you softly, slipping his arm around you. He was silent for a few minutes, before letting out a slow exhale. “I’m not going to be able to see you for a few days, it’s not safe for me to be around you while you’re...”
He didn’t have to say it for you to understand and, as much as you wanted to argue with him, you knew it wouldn’t be fair to try and force the issue. Now that you had some idea of how he felt and how much of a struggle it was for him to be around you sometimes, you knew Billy needed space.
“It’s okay, I understand.”
You stayed that way for another twenty-five minutes until you gently reminded Billy that he was going to be late for work. He didn’t seem to want to leave you and it made your heart ache to think about why that might be. Though, rationally, you understood that it wasn’t you; he was just tired. You were finally starting to understand just how difficult and exhausting it was for him just to get through a day.
He gave you a soft kiss and told you that he’d see you again soon.
The next morning when you woke up cramping and feeling terrible, until you found that he’d left a gift basket in your kitchen, filled with things you might need over the coming days; painkillers, chocolates, a new smart-watch with a cycle tracking app, a heating-pad, various toiletries and a large teddy bear with a note pinned to his chest.
I thought you and Bill the Beagle might want some company.
Take care of yourself. I’ll see you soon.
B.
Butterflies filled your stomach at the thoughtfulness of the gifts and, later that afternoon, when you left blood for him, you couldn’t resist leaving him a note of your own.
Thank you for your considerate gifts. William the Bear is a wonderful addition to my growing stuffie collection and the chocolates were lovely. Hope you have a good night at work.
xoxo
The next day you felt even worse but, again, you were pleasantly surprised when you managed to drag yourself to the kitchen to get breakfast and some coffee. There was another box of chocolates and another note waiting for you.
William is a terrible name for a bear. I didn’t expect you to get through the chocolates so quickly, remind me to stock up next month. I hope you’ve not been watching Black Sails without me.
Take care
B.
And, of course - of course - you had to reply, leaving your note with his blood again.
I happen to like the name William. I think it suits him. He looks like a William. I hope you’re not trying to shame me for enjoying the chocolates, truffles and caramels are my weakness. Don’t worry, I’ve not been watching anything without you, I’ve been reading. You were right, Jane Eyre was a very apt choice.
xoxo
His notes became your reason to get up in the morning, though they were a bittersweet reminder of his noticeable absence in your life. It filled you with a strange yearning and an uncomfortable sadness to think about him out there on his own. But that was a silly thought. You didn’t know anything about his life outside of the penthouse, about his work or his friends, maybe he wasn’t even noticing your absence.
(Or maybe he felt it just as much as you did.)
Okay, I have to ask; what does a William look like? Of course I’d never shame you for enjoying the chocolates, but now you’ve told me your weakness I might have to use it to my advantage. I hope you’re enjoying Jane Eyre more than you enjoyed Dorian Gray.
I hope you’re not feeling too bad. I miss our talks.
B.
Your heart stuttered as you read and reread those four little words; I miss our talks. He missed you. Maybe not quite in the same way that you were missing him but, still, it made you long for him even more.
Well, in my experience Williams tend to be cute and cuddly, even though they look a little dark and brooding at first glance. Oh no! Please don’t use my weakness for chocolate truffles against me!!! (The extra exclamation marks are so you read that in a sarcastic tone.) Yes, I think I like Jane Eyre more than Dorian Gray - Mr Rochester kind of reminds me of you.
I’m feeling a bit better today, I should be fine in a couple of days. I miss spending time with you too. I hope you’re not too lonely without me around.
xoxo
You doodled a little picture of the teddy bear he’d given you on the corner of the note but gave him a grumpy looking face and a tag that read ‘my name is William’.
There was a strange feeling of embarrassment when you left the note and you almost changed your mind about it halfway back to your room, and you spent the rest of the evening wondering if it was a little too much.
So, the next morning, you felt a little reluctant to go into the kitchen, and had to take a deep breath before reading his note.
Dark and brooding?? I think you might have to elaborate, but I’ll let you save that for when I see you next. I hope that there will come a point in the book where Mr Rochester doesn’t remind you of me quite so much (I don’t know where you’re up to and I don’t want to spoil it).
I’m glad you’re feeling better. The penthouse isn’t the same without you. It’s strange, you’ve only been here a couple of months yet and it already feels empty without you. I miss you.
B.
P.S. Is the doodle supposed to be me or the stuffie?
It felt like your head was spinning as you read, reread, and read again.
He missed you.
Billy missed you.
You spent half the day writing and rewriting your note to him, in one attempt confessing your feelings, in another acting completely blaise about his confession. Nothing you came up with felt right but the thought of not replying seemed worse.
I see what you mean about Mr Rochester... though I don’t know if I can completely rule out the possibility of you having a strange woman tucked away somewhere in the penthouse. It would certainly explain where all of the chocolates have been going.
I miss you too. I know what you mean, I feel the same way, like I’ve been here longer. But I suppose that’s how things feel when you get close to someone. Hope to see you tomorrow.
xoxo
P.S. I’ll never tell. An artist never reveals her secrets.
There was no end to your relief the next morning when you woke up finally feeling better, knowing that you’d be able to see Billy again. Part of you expected not to find a note, but there it was, waiting for you on your kitchen table, just like the others had been.
I can think of a less mysterious explanation for the disappearance of your chocolates, little hummingbird.
I’m not used to missing people. I’m not used to being close to them either. Some days I feel like my whole life has turned upside down since I met you. I can’t wait to see you again.
B.
P.S. I think it’s magicians that never reveal their secrets, not artists.
Again, he left you searching for deeper meaning in every word, your heart aching for a man who seemed so lonely and alone, a man who didn’t deserve that life at all.
After breakfast you showered and washed your hair, wanting to look your best when you saw him again.
Slowly but surely, over the course of the day, your nerves started to eat away at you; what were you going to say to him? Were you going to pretend that the notes hadn’t happened and that their contents was just idle talk to help the other feel less alone?
You couldn’t sit still as you waited, counting down the hours before sunset, perched on the edge of the sofa and watching his door. The moment it started to open, you were on your feet.
Before he had the chance to even realise that you were there, you’d cleared the distance between you, throwing your arms around his waist and pressing your face against his chest. Billy let out a breath but, for the life of you, you couldn’t tell if it was a sigh of relief or simply because you were squeezing the air from his lungs.
“Hey,” he muttered, his arm slipping around you and holding you almost as tight as you were holding him.
A minute or two passed, neither of you moving or saying anything, until he pressed a kiss to the top of your head and your grip on him started to loosen. You didn’t pull away, but gave yourself enough space to look up at him, smiling shyly as your cheeks started to warm.
“Hi.”
“Hi, hummingbird.”
Neither of you seemed to know what to do or where you were supposed to go from there so, again, you both fell silent, still holding each other. Finally, you dared to reach for him, placing your hand on his cheek. His eyes closed and he leaned into your touch, and butterflies began to swarm in your stomach. Before you could talk yourself out of it, you lifted onto your tiptoes and pressed your lips to his.
It was a soft, chaste kiss, nothing at all compared to some of the kisses that you’d shared, but you felt his lips pull into a smile against yours before his eyes finally opened again.
“I missed you,” he admitted in little more than a whisper.
His hand moved to rest on your neck and you found yourself glad of his cold touch after what seemed like so long without it.
“I missed you too,” you confessed, “I - I missed you more than I probably should have.”
If Billy understood what you were trying to tell him, he didn’t show it. Instead, he just shook his head and smiled before kissing you again.
You sank against him letting him deepen the kiss and turn it into something else, something new. Normally when he kissed you it felt explosive and desperate, like he was laying claim to you, but this kiss was tender and filled with longing, like he was savouring being with you again. It stole the breath from your lungs.
“I missed you,” he muttered again.
“You already said that.”
“I know, I just -” his head shook, and he let out a huffed laugh, “- this has felt like one of the longest weeks of my life.”
“Have you been okay? Was it -” you hesitated, not sure you wanted to ask the question, “- was it easier without me around?”
Billy pulled back a little, frowning. “Why would it be easier?”
“The other night, you said you feel like you’re drowning when you’re with me,” you shrugged a little, letting your gaze drop for a moment.
Before the notes, you’d assumed that everyone made him feel that way, that it was just part of being a vampire for him. But, now, after his last note and after that kiss, part of you longed for him to admit that it was more, that it was you, that he felt something for you, that he cared.
“I was wrong,” he told you, waiting until you looked up again to continue, “I feel like I’m drowning without you.”
“Oh.” Whatever you’d expected, it hadn’t been that.
“It’s a lot. I know it’s a lot -”
“No,” you shook your head, “no, it’s not.”
“I wish I could’ve met you in another life. I wish it wasn’t like this.”
The words caused your chest to ache, understand what he was saying and why because you felt the same way; the situation was a mess and all either of you could do was make the best of it.
There was more you could say - more you wanted to say - but it didn’t feel like the right time, and it wasn’t fair for you to try and push anything when you had every intention of leaving him once you’d finished your year. So, instead, you pressed yourself against him and hugged him tight.
Once you’d managed to pull away from each other, you spent the next hour sitting with him on the sofa, talking while he drank, trading gentle touches and kisses until he needed to leave. You followed him to the elevator, not sure if he was keeping hold of your hand or if it was the other way around.
It took a couple of weeks for things to start to return to some sort of normal between you.
Karen noticed the first time she saw you, mentioning that you seemed distracted as you walked through Central Park together (thankfully with no sign of Madani in sight), but she didn’t bring it up until you were sitting together a week later, having lunch in a little coffee shop.
“Is everything alright with you and Billy?” She asked, deciding to just go for it.
“Yeah, it’s fine,” you answered. And it was fine. You were happy. You just could stop thinking about what he’d said to you and how you wished that things could be just a little bit different so you could both be happy.
“I know Billy’s my friend and you don’t really know me all that well, but you can talk to me if something’s bothering you. Or if he’s done something to bother you.”
There was something in her voice, something knowing that you really didn’t like. But how could she know what was going on with you and Billy, when you didn’t even know yourself?
“Everything’s fine, honestly. It’s great, actually. We’ve been really getting on lately; we’ve been hanging out talking about books and I’ve been making him watch Black Sail on Netflix,” you told her.
Karen nodded, though it didn’t look like she believed you, but she let it drop, leaving you with the sneaking suspicion that she knew a little more about the way Billy was than she wanted to let on.
Your quiet evenings with Billy slowly started to become a little more physical again, though neither of you seemed in a rush to try and push for sex again. Instead, most evenings he’d end up with his head between your thighs, or you’d slip your hand into his pants while you made out. And, even though you found yourself longing for more, you didn’t want to push him. No, you wanted to take things slowly, wanted to make sure that he wouldn’t get overwhelmed again before you took that next step.
Time seemed to fly by and it wasn’t long before the whole penthouse was being turned upside down in anticipation of Billy’s big party; live music, caterers, decorators and, of course, more blood than you felt comfortable seeing in one place. The whole place was transformed over the course of three days and, when the night finally came, you felt almost sick with nerves.
Even Billy had a strange energy about him, checking and double checking every little thing, including a security team from his company whose presence he seemed reluctant to explain to you. You watched from the sofa as he led them around the apartment, explaining where he wanted them and which areas of the penthouse were off-limits. He introduced you to one of them, a human man called Curtis who would be spending the night near the door to your quarters if you needed any help during the night (and, again, Billy didn’t explain what that meant).
A couple of hours before the guests were due to arrive, you went to shower and draw blood before doing your hair and makeup, and getting changed into your dress and shoes. For a few minutes you found yourself staring at your reflection, hoping to find some of the confidence you’d had that night in the dressing room with Billy.
When you stepped out into the penthouse, it only took a moment for his eyes to find you, his jaw threatening to drop as he took in the sight of you. His appearance had the same effect on you; his well tailored tux had you biting your lip.
“Wow, Russo, you really know how to pick them,” Curtis called across the penthouse, earning himself a withering look from Billy and causing your cheeks to heat.
Billy made his way towards you, not bothering to hide the way his eyes were taking in every inch of you. When he reached you, he placed a hand on your hip and kissed your cheek.
“I got you a present,” he told you, using his hand to start guiding you towards the library, pausing momentarily to tell Curtis and his team that they could go take a break before the party started.
Your heart was hammering in your chest as he led you into the library and towards the seldom used desk by the window. Waiting for you were three boxes, each beautifully wrapped in silver paper and tied with black ribbon. Without thought, you found yourself gripping Billy’s arm as your legs threatened to turn to jello beneath you.
He smiled softly, picking up the first box and handing it to you.
“Open it,” he instructed, managing to sound as excited as you felt about this whole exchange.
It felt wrong to destroy the immaculate wrapping, so you took your time, carefully untying the ribbon and peeling open the paper to get at the box. You removed the lid and there, in amongst black tissue paper was an ornate black and silver mask.
“It’s for the party tonight,” he told you when you looked at him for clarification, “we wear the masks until midnight and then take them off. It’s supposed to symbolise vampires being seen by society, but really it’s just an excuse to have fun while no one knows who you are.”
You laughed, head shaking. “Thank you, it’s beautiful.”
But he didn’t give you time to linger, gently taking the box and mask from your hand before offering you the next present, seeming to get more eager with each passing second. He was practically vibrating with excitement.
Your breath caught as you opened the second box. It was a beautiful choker style necklace with diamanté detailing - at least, you assumed that it was diamanté because you couldn’t even start to imagine how much it would have cost if they were real diamonds. For a few seconds you were lost for words.
“Here, let me,” he offered, pulling the necklace from the box before you even had the chance to answer him. Billy stepped behind you, gently draping it around your neck and fastening it for you.
Your fingers immediately reached up to touch it; it felt a little heavy around your neck and you’d never had a choker style necklace before, but the feel of it would be a constant reminder of Billy and you loved that.
“Thank you, Billy,” you finally managed, turning and wrapping your arms around him before pressing a kiss to his cheek.
“There’s one more.” He reached for the last present but seemed a little more reluctant to hand it to you.
And once you’d opened it, you understood why.
“Oh...” said somewhere between shock and confusion.
You weren’t sure what you’d been expecting, especially not after the mask and the choker, but a new sex toy certainly wasn’t it. Your cheeks heated as you looked at the box, trying to make sense of it, the words discreet and remote play only confused you more.
“I want you to wear this for the party,” he told you, a hint of nervousness in his voice, “if you want to, I mean. If it’s too much, I get it. I just - I thought we could have some fun. And there’s going to be so many people, I guess I want to know you’ll spend the night thinking about me...”
Your cheeks continued to burn, part horrified by the notion, but a much larger part couldn’t help but find the idea interesting, arousing even. And, after everything that had happened between you, part of you was still longing for more.
“You want me to spend the night thinking about you?” You asked quietly.
“More than anything,” he answered in little more than a whisper, like he knew it was something he shouldn’t say.
It felt like your heart leapt into your throat for a few seconds and you struggled to swallow around it. All you could think about was that night a couple of weeks ago, how he told you it felt like he was drowning when he wasn’t with you, and you knew that you couldn’t say no to him. (You didn’t want to say no to him.)
“Okay,” you finally answered, “how do I...?”
“Let me,” he offered, perhaps a little too eagerly, taking the box from your hand, muttering something about how he’d cleaned it and charged it ready before wrapping it.
You bit your lip, watching as he pulled the purple silicone toy out of the box, knowing that he could hear your heart pounding. Then he kissed you, slipping his tongue between your lips and enjoying you for a few moments. When he pulled back he began to trace your lips with the tip of the toy before slipping it into your mouth, causing your cheeks to burn hotter.
You watched him suck his fingers, leaving them glistening with saliva before dropping to his knees and slipping them beneath your dress and into your panties. His free hand nudged your knee and you parted your trembling legs a little further while his fingers stirred between your folds, wetting you before slowly slipping into you.
You moaned softly as his fingers slowly started to pump inside you, twisting and bending, easily finding that special spot.
Your hands gripped his shoulders, feeling like your legs were going to give out. Another soft moan escaped you when he looked up at you, holding your gaze as his fingers filled you, over and over. You clenched around him as he licked his lips, knowing that he was imagining the taste of your arousal on his tongue.
“You can come whenever you need to,” he told you, smiling up at you like he was in awe of you.
“Billy...” you moaned, your voice muffled by the toy in your mouth, hating how close you were to falling apart.
Your walls clenched and tightened around his fingers again, but you were already so wet that you couldn’t hold onto him or make him slow. There was something about all of this that seemed so obscene, so dirty, and it just made you want it ever more. His fingers hit that sweet spot one more time and it was enough to push you over the edge. Your legs started to tremble and your thighs pressed together, trying to keep his fingers inside you.
And, all the while, Billy smiled up at you.
A needy whine slipped out when he pulled away his hand, but you soon fell silent when he took the toy from your mouth. Your eyes fixed on the bookshelf behind Billy as he inserted the toy, suddenly feeling embarrassed despite everything you’d just let him do. Once he was done, he straightened your panties and made sure your dress was perfect.
Shifting your weight between your legs, you tried to get used to the feeling of the toy while Billy stood up and took out his phone.
“Let’s give it a little test,” he said with an almost mischievous grin on his lips that caused you thighs to clench. Something told you he was going to enjoy this. A lot.
A sudden whimper was pulled from you as the toy started to vibrate.
Billy’s grin grew as his finger swiped on his phone, causing the vibrations to intensify. As good as it felt, a mixture of shame and concern threatened to ruin the moment.
“What?” Billy asked, stopping the vibrations the moment he noticed your discomfort. “If it’s too much, you don’t have to do this.”
“I want to,” you answered shyly, a little embarrassed by just how much you wanted to, “It’s just... what if someone realises?”
He offered a soft smile, placing a hand on your cheek.
“They won’t,” he told you with confidence. “It’ll be too noisy for anyone to hear it, and you’ll be good; you won’t come until we’re alone together and I give you permission.”
His thumb tenderly caressed your cheek as he leaned in to kiss you, his tongue slipping between your lips and wiping away any misgivings you might have had. You wanted to do this. You wanted to give Billy the comfort of knowing that you were thinking about him all night. And you wanted to do it for yourself too. You’d wanted to have new experiences and this was definitely new for you.
“Come on,” he said, slipping his hand into yours, “let’s go have a glass of wine and wait for the guests to arrive. It’s going to be a long night...”
Chapter Nine

Summary: You had a nightmare last night, Billy takes you to your favorite place that always calms you and makes you feel better.
A/N: The beach is one of my favorite places, especially the beaches at home. I’m currently on vacation and the beaches here are pretty fantastic too but there’s no place like home. I’ll put a pic of one of my favorite beaches at sunset close to home at the end of this. I hope you like it!
As always, thank you for reading!  I appreciate it so much and comments, reblogs are welcome and encouraged. Don’t be shy to tell me your favorite part. 💕💕 💕
In between the vibrant energy of a hot New England summer and a cold, desolate winter, after the crowds have gone away and they’ve locked up their summer homes for the season, there was a period of time during late summer of unspoiled tranquility.
That was your favorite time of year to be at the beach. Under a canopy of blue with hues of deep pink, red, and orange, the world seemed to stand still as you listened to the gentle lapping of the waves against the wet sand.
The weather was still warm, a little drier, and a bit more comfortable. Over the grassy dunes, the soft sand stretched out in both directions while small flecks of quartz glistened in the sand beneath the early evening sun.
The soothing symphony of waves crashing against the shore continued to pull you deeper and deeper into a trance like state. The sea looked like a rippling blue blanket with all of its twists and turns, the noise echoed off the rocks, resonated in the air and floated into your ears before it disappeared and the relaxing song started to play all over again.
This was the place that always made you feel better.
No matter what time of year it was, this is where you would come to escape him. The serenity of this place cancelled out the pain, the yelling, name calling, and the bad dreams. But now it was a different type of escape, a happy one where there weren’t any tears to stain your cheeks.
Rupturing the tranquility, you heard the screech of a gull overhead; it startled you and caused you to flinch but the hand enclosed over yours, squeezed you tightly.
The soft voice you heard whispered reassuringly that it was ok, and “he can’t hurt you anymore, sweet girl.” His warm body there next to yours, cradling, comforting you and always keeping you out of harm’s way.
The sand sifted in between your toes as you watched the sun dip lower and lower toward the horizon where the sea and sky dissolve into each other.
The rolling waves lightly crashed against the shore bringing large clumps of seaweed with them and the salty sea breeze gently kicked up tiny grains of sand that ended up stuck in the short bristles of his beard.
His endless brown eyes focused on the dark beauty of the hungry sea, a slight smile stretched across his face, and you watched him wiggle his toes in the warm smooth sand.
He relished in the harmony too. He was very content.
Billy wanted to see the ocean you loved so much as a child, where you came to get away from everything, and where nothing bad had ever happened to you.
He had felt so helpless last night because he couldn’t stop the nightmare from happening, watching the tension grip your body, your knuckles white as you tightly clutched the sheet in your hands, and smothered by your own screams.
He would do anything to keep you from having them but still the sobs tore loose, freeing themselves from inside your throat and echoing throughout the bedroom.
Murmuring soft sounds and words to calm you, Billy tried his best to soothe you from your nightmare. He knew what it was like to be vulnerable while asleep, to fight going to sleep because he didn’t know what would be waiting for him when he closed his eyes but he didn’t care about that right now. It wasn’t about him; it was about you which is why he brought you here.
Billy remembered you talking about your favorite beach, how the music of the waves would sing to you and make you feel better any time that monster hurt you, called you “stupid,” or “ugly,” or threaten to tear you so far down that you couldn’t get back up and no other man would want you. “No one will want someone as damaged as you except me.”
There weren’t any tears this time. As long as you had Billy, you would be ok.
The canvas of bright colors across the sky kissed the high points of your face and melted away the remnants of your nightmare. You looked over at Billy, leaned in close and kissed him on the cheek. He turned slowly to face you, a wide Cheshire cat smile stretched across his lips while the familiar scent of his spicy cologne drifted past your nose.
“Thank you, Billy.” You whispered. “For this.”
You brought your gaze toward the dimming blue sky.
“I wish I could do more, sweet girl. I wish I could replace every memory of him with something else but I can’t.” He said with an alarming edge to his voice.
Billy’s handsome features twisted with rage as he clenched his fist.
Your heart swelled at the thought of Billy wanting to take all of your pain away, wanting to make all of your nightmares disappear forever, never to come back.
“It’s ok, baby. This is my favorite place, and you’re my favorite person.” You said. “Look at our view! It’s perfect!” You exclaimed. “I don’t need anything else. I love you.”
He pulled you into his lap, moved a stray piece of hair away from your face, and touched his forehead to yours. The anger in his eyes was suddenly replaced with love and affection before his lips collided with yours.
He tasted like the sea salt in the air, you could feel it in his hair too as your nails gently raked against his scalp. Parting your lips with his tongue, Billy deepened his kiss, pulling you in tight by the waist, his long agile fingers danced up and down your spine, silently telling you that he loved you too.
Every time Billy kissed you, touched you, held your hand, or even just smiled at you, he was replacing bad memories with good ones, mending the pieces of your shattered soul you deemed unfixable.
He dropped all of his responsibilities today to try and make you feel better, bringing you to your favorite place two states away. And he would do it every day if you let him, if you wanted him to.
The sea was forever vast, uncharted and in a way, reminded you a lot of Billy. It was dark, beautiful, and there was so much more beneath the surface if you took time to unearth the possibilities of the unfamiliar.
Both of you were broken in your own way and still navigating the emotional and metaphorical caverns of Davy Jones’ locker, looking for those priceless treasures within each other that you can’t live without.
You would have to take a deep breath and dive deeper than you’ve ever been before but this time you wouldn’t be alone and promised to pull each other up when you needed air.
His love made it possible for you to breathe again and you would be forever grateful for it…always.
