I am a cat.

The thought drifted across Character A's mind with an air of certainty. If it weren't for this air of certainty, Character A wouldn't have questioned it, but as such an absurd sentiment came to them with such certainty, they took the time to ponder it, rearranging and restating it a few times only to conclude that it felt wrong to change it in any way. "I am a cat." felt right in a way "I am like a cat." or "I feel like a cat." didn't; it felt wrong to dismiss or challenge the statement, as though it were an immortal truth to the universe – and to them. The absurd sentiment was also a correct one.

"Guess I'm a cat now," Character A murmured, and refocused on what they were doing right before the thought appeared to them.

Wait.

Normal people don't just randomly think of themselves as cats.

Therianthopy and it’s components have been a huge part of me as long as I’ve been alive. It’s an essential part of explaining how I behave put into language, as the feelings and experiences of how I feel inwardly cannot be fully communicated verbally, but can be spoken about in common level and specific terms to guide to a general understanding. I learned early on that I always acted more animalistic than others—especially as a child. I favoured running on all fours, yipping and barking when I became happy or excited, howling as a greeting or whistling for communicating over long distances (creds to dad for that one), growling, biting, or clawing as a means of displaying anger, annoyance, or rage, learning how to climb before I could walk, etc. These behaviours have been a part of me as long as I can remember, and will continue to be as long as I live. Though years of bullying put me in shame about it, I could not nor would not ignore how it always felt natural to communicate and behave this way, and luckily my family and friends have always been accepting and accommodating of my behavior, never forbidding me from how I express myself as they understand I am most comfortable through it. I’ve learned I can exist happily this way.

Growing up I never understood gender rules or stereotypes. All the “rules” felt so convoluted and made up as I never felt I identified with either side of the gender binary. I always felt the body I have is just one I happen to inhabit. I understood the concept of ‘social gender’ as learned behaviour and displays, one that I nor my family cared much for obeying. I was raised in thought of modern day femininity and masculinity to not be a personal necessity, but that it was simply a social aspect of adherence. Instead, the individuality of masculinity and femininity became important in my development of forming an inward balance between the two, grappling with how the world taught me to be and how I knew I truly was, and my parents had the very same sense. They had far more important things to worry about than socially gendering their little ones, they were busy raising us cubs! With this in mind, my family instead taught us to embrace ourselves and everything we entail. I remember watching my mother’s uncanny ability to be a speaker to and for every animal taught me true empathy, to understand the everything has a soul, feelings, and heart. My father’s unwavering love for his lifemate and cubs taught us to love our inner children and gave me the ability to understand myself, knowing I would have support from them. When I discovered how I felt inside had words to it, it felt like my eyes were opened for the first time, and knowing they would accept my innermost self has been all I need to know. My relationship towards my physical form and my emotions have become deeper and more spiritual as I grow, but the word ‘therian’ is as close as I can get to identifying my inner state verbally. It is outside ‘human’. *kinning is not always inherently related to one’s spiritual journey/gender identity, but can be for many. my kinship and duel spirituality are separate whilst being shared through language expression. free to ask any questions!

Welcome to Extranth Aeris!

This is a shared blog for all the nonhuman members of our system. We all have access to an innerworld layer we named The Aer, a world of infinite, beautiful natural terrain. It contains our preferred ecosystems, territories, and much more.

We use It/Its as a collective pronoun. Do not use they/them please.

The body is an adult, in case anyone cares.

We are pro endogenic systems, but a traumagenic system ourselves.

Our nonhumanity is heavily based on psychosis and delusions. We don't consider this to be a negative thing at all.

Not interested in policing anyone else's identity.

We will likely be posting some of our art here as a way to express ourselves.

my apologies if you're not the best person to ask here (honestly you're simply the only alterhuman connected blog i follow, despite me being otherkin + an extranthic fictive lol), but would you happen to know what happened to alt-h.net? it's been forever since i've really checked in on the community so i may have missed something, but the site seems completely dead and looking at internet archive shows it's been down for a few months now :(

We're not entirely sure, but as far as we were last aware, they were looking to move hosting providers around the time the discord server for alt+h shut down around 2 years ago, but we haven't heard anything since. They mentioned back then that there might be a period of time where the site is down while they look for a new hosting provider, but once again this was 2 years ago so we're not sure where it's gone or if that's still the plan.

Hopefully someone else can weigh in in the notes?

Hey, just wanted to provide a slight correction on one of your willogenic posts: Extranth isn't the coiner, he just happened to post HD versions of the flags, and that post got really popular and is what's linked to first on Pluralpedia for some reason??? From his post:

"This term was created by an anonymous user, and was posted on the now deleted¹ blog @/plurgai-archive."

(¹it was actually terminated and all it's posts were nuked off Tumblr so that hasn't helped at all)

Well, I'll be damned, you're right. Does not change the fact that Extranth, Pluragai, and that anon still directly mention Tulpamancy in their definitions (and still censor it and tulpa like they're slurs). It isn't really surprising that a blog like Plurgai would be terminated, honestly.

Wonder how that anon feels nowadays for the term they coined. Whoever you are, you coined a bad term and I want you to know that. All you did was divide the community further and cut people off from legitimately helpful resources.

That's what we've heard, yes. It's good to know. We've put in some work saving flags and putting reblogs of posts on archive.ph, and Meliad (of io-archival fame) has also been working to make sure all of the posts from Shaun's blogs are saved.

We're still not entirely sure what happened, but again we recommend saving any flags from any of those blogs that you want to ensure you have access to to your device, in the event that images are removed.
