a/n: to that one commenter on reo’s post, alright bet (tried tagging you but it didn’t work lol)

you don’t understand why you got picked for the blue lock project at all: your skills were nowhere near as high level as reo’s or nagi’s. you only played football so you could hang out with reo more after he decided to spend all his time with nagi. somehow, someway, some higher being deemed you a great enough player to be part of the blue lock project.

at the first meeting, you saw reo. he was stood with nagi - all of his attention was focused on nagi. you wanted to walk over and be with him but you stopped yourself. this project meant you could show yourself - show reo what he was missing.

and so you became part of team z. it was a colourful team with an angry blonde who wanted to play sexy football, a ginger superhero with a mean left foot, and lemon. there was no sense of teamwork whatsoever for the first few matches in the round robin but that didn’t mean it wasn’t any less fun.

but there was also isagi.

the two of you clicked straight away. while bachira brought out the monster in isagi, you managed to round out his weaknesses. and he did the same for you. if he couldn’t score a goal, isagi knew that you would be able to do it. it was seamless teamwork which transferred off the pitch.

both of you trained together, ate together, your futons were placed next to each other. no one else in team z could deny that there was something going off between the two of you. the connection between you and isagi was magnetic. it was almost as if you were made for each other.

two strikers that brought out the best in each other.

isagi listened to you as you told him of your history with reo and nagi. he had bumped into them in the canteen before the team was told of the final match against team v. isgai saw how you tensed up seeing that they were the top two scorers in the stratum and he followed after you when you promptly walked out. he sat down with you in the training room and held your hand as you told him how reo ignored you for nagi despite your history with him.

“don’t think about them anymore,” said isagi. “you are your own person and i can say with confidence that you’re a better striker than both of them combined.”

you chuckled. “not hard for you to say, mr monster. you’ve not seen how reo controls nagi. the hold he has on him. i’m nothing to him.”

isagi held your hand tightly, rubbing comforting circles. he let you lean against him, let you use him to calm down.

“when we beat them,” he started, “promise me that you won’t think about them anymore - that you’ll only think of me.”

the confidence in his voice made you smile. you couldn’t explain why but it made you feel better. isagi always made you feel better. that was something reo could never do - he just left you to fester in your own emotions while he went off with nagi. isagi, however, let you talk and did what he could to make you feel better, as you did with him.

“guess we better not lose then.” you stood up, isagi following after you. he smiled widely. both of you headed back to the team room.

you held each other’s hand tightly, not separating until you needed to.

the day of the final match came. you and isagi stood side by side, opposite reo and nagi.

reo could only stare at you with wide eyes as you breezed past him, focusing only on isagi. he tried to talk to you, tried to get a word out at least, but he couldn’t. his heart clenched as did his fist.

after starting blue lock, reo realised how much he missed you - how much he needed you. he swore that when he next saw you, he would apologise and do whatever he could to win you back. but seeing your smile directed at isagi made him realise that there was nothing he could do.

he had already lost you.

"what?" reo managed to force out, his voice breaking off at the end as he fought to hold back tears. you sighed, running a hand over your face before holding the back of your neck, "i don't like you like that, you're a good friend to me, almost like an older brother." reo couldn't help but notice how you couldn't meet his eyes when you spoke, and a glint of sadness shone over your gaze. he surely didn't miss the slump of your shoulders as you walked away, or the subtle trembling of your lower lip.

reo understood how wealth dominates a person's life, especially if it's within a family environment. one reason why he fell for you is because you were able to relate to him, as your family became business partners with the mikage coorperation when the two of you met as children. he had found someone that he could talk to about the stress of it all, and have a mutual and honest response. but what he couldn't understand was why you never saw him as more than a friend. he openly showed his affection for you every time he was around you, but you brushed it off as him just being friendly. you would never love him back, never love him the way he loved you.

but that wasn't true. that wasn't true at all. more than anything, you wanted reo. it's all that you ever thought of; day in and day out, the boy was constantly stuck on your mind. you wanted to hold him, play with his soft locks of purple hair, just be with him. but you couldn't. no matter how much you wanted to. it was against the rules.

Literally needs a leash. Wherever you go, he will follow, but only until he finds something that peaks his interest. He doesn’t care where he is, he will always manage to disappear elsewhere right as you ask him what he thinks you should get.

So you just stand there all like (　˙-˙　) before you process that he has gone off once more.

If you thought that the little bee-boy wasn’t that quick, then rethink your belief. Just because he’s not on the field doesn’t mean that he can’t walk a mile in a minute. Overly exaggerated, yes, but it seriously feels like that for you! After all, you ARE the one who has to find him!

As you spot his familiar yellow eyes, you let out a relieved sigh while he childishly waves and calls out to you, a big grin plastered on his face. “(Y/n)! (Y/n)! Lookie here! Isn’t this pretty~?” He chirps while he points to a painting(it reminded him of his mother as he saw it, so be patient with him before you scold him for wandering off).

Gagamaru Gin

Gagamaru already isn’t that big of a city person. Granted, he likes to spend time with you and even gets himself a few food truck snacks, yet the crowds tend to make him antsy.

He keeps close to you as you make your way down the large sidewalk. Although it is bigger than the regular trail he walks down for hiking, it is busier than the streets.

He bows his head down to look at you. “Want some?” He offers you his boba tea he had ordered from the previous cafe you went into. In reality, it was just something he did to keep his mind off from the city-life you were used to.

Letting you take his drink from his hand, he puts his hands in his jacket’s pockets before staring up at the sky. When you say ‘shopping’ he thought you were going to get more stuff rather than just…exploring. Don’t take it wrong, though! He loves wandering around! He’s just…a gentle giant who isn’t meant for the city.

Nonetheless, after you buy all of your needs, he points over to an open area and wants nothing more than to snack on some food and chat.

Reo Mikage

Reo…isn’t the most patient person out there.

Because of his rich background, he’s already had most of the stuff you gawk over through the windows of stores. He finds it boring, yet he’s glad to spend time with you.

To see you smile after he buys you something you’ve really wanted makes his heart clench. The purple-haired male adores your joy and wants you to be happy forever.

He does not want you to worry over him while he’s stuck in his pessimistic moods, so he is the one who drags you around to interesting stores.

“Check this place out, (Y/n). You like that fashion, don’t you? We should go in, then!” Reo practically bribes you into shopping more just to keep the image of your smile(that soon turns into a panting frown).

You just got to tell him when enough is enough, because he will spend millions of yen on you and you alone. You are his most prized possession, after all.

Rin Itoshi

Rin has a schedule, and he is determined to stick to it. Although, as you convince him to go out for a little shopping spree, he slowly forgets about his strict schedule and focuses more on you.

As quick-tempered as he is, Rin is able to withhold his impatience for whenever you change your mind abruptly about something. He let’s out a little scoff, though, to signify his irritation with your indecisiveness.

He is also the guy who would make you follow him to a store he wants to go to after you go through yours. Payback is a necessity he was taught at a young age.

Rin isn’t one who takes jokes either. If you mess around about wanting something, you bet your pretty little ass you’ll see him at the counter paying for whatever it is.

He likes seeing you carry bags full of items you wanted, so he does like to take his time out of his schedule and wander the city with you(as irritating and time-wasting as shopping may seem).

Ryusei Shidou

A pure menace. Is anymore needed to be said?

Ryusei will quite literally take you anywhere. Anywhere. Whether you want to or not.

He is a man of twisted culture and will grab your hand to drag you into an adult store just for the hell of it. He knows what makes you uncomfortable and what doesn’t, but every time he sees you squint and flush as he raises up a dildo is a sight to behold.

Although he does enjoy a good adult store, he’s not all power and brute force. Sometimes, if you pass a manga shop down the corner, he’ll jump and tell you that you two need to go there. He loves his manga(“Beserk”).

At the end of it all, he’s still the same childish man you came to adorn. Holding your hand with his other occupied with bags full of ’mysterious’ items after a long day of shopping is one of his many Serotonins. He loves it.

Sae Itoshi

Sae is far calmer than you may think. Like Rin, he is impatient, yet he is aware that things take time…Meaning that he will wait by your side for half-an-hour just for you to decide that you don’t want the coffee brewer-

Of course, he does tend to get a little irritated whenever you ask him if he wants to join your shopping. Often, he’d cross his arms and sigh, saying, “Just for me to follow you aimlessly like a pup? Do me a favor and be proactive by thinking of something to get before dragging me with.”

He knows exactly what you want even if you don’t acknowledge it. He’s THAT good at understanding you. Because of his time spent in Spain to relax and connect his mind and body for soccer, he isn’t one who you can pass by that easily.

Sae is also the guy who sneaks in little things for…the both of you, let’s just say.

Yoichi Isagi

If you think Isagi isn’t a cinnamon roll then get out(joking, not really).

He is a guy who will quite literally follow you around everywhere. Even if his legs are cramping up, he will walk with you around every aisle of every store you go into.

He is a pure gentleman and will offer to carry your bags no matter how small they may be, but if you decline, he won’t pressure you. He merely likes to help out his loved ones, is all! His parents did teach him mannerisms unlike the rest of the casts’…

Isagi adores the game courts. Whether it be a mini version of a basketball court or an arcade, he will stare at the place until you agree to go in. If you say no to his silent request, he will whine and complain a little yet complies to your words.
