“Well maybe you shouldn’t of have...” He leaned his lower body against his desk, looking at the ground. “You should have saved it for someone else instead.” 

Your eyes widened as your mouth gaped open in disbelief. “A-Are you serious... r-right now?...” 

Bakugo shrugged, still refusing to look you in the eye. “It wasn’t meant to happen... what we had was just a simple rush of attraction,” he continued. “That was what it was, you probably were the same since you’re in the stage of your body still developing and your hormones got the best of you-” 

“Now you’re just spilling out bullshit.” 

He sighed tiredly as if he wanted to be done with this conversation but his hands gripped the edge of the desk tightly. “Take it was you wish. I’m telling you the truth and if you have a hard time believing it then that’s on you not on me.” 

You swallowed down hard, clenching your jaw tightly. “I don’t believe you.” 

“Oh my god.” Bakugo muttered under his breath standing straight again. “Why are you being so stubborn?!” He raised his voice. 

“Because I know you!” You yelled back. “Since we met you never once had any ulterior motives. You were kind, even when you didn’t even trust me at all you were still there. The words you said to me had⎯ so much emotion behind them... so I refuse to believe that what we had meant nothing to you-” 

He looked you in the eyes for the first time. “Well it didn’t.” 

Staring back into his eyes, there was no emotion in them. Those red orbs that you loved seeing every day, weren’t the same ones you had fallen in love with. It was looking at the eyes of a stranger. 

“I used you.” Bakugo stated as he walked towards you. “I never gave a damn about a little girl like you alright?! It was just a bet I made with her, you were only a bet.” 

“You’re lying...” You whispered, moving your eyes back and forth as he stood in front of you leaving very little space between you. 

A dry chuckle escaped from within him. “Am I?” He questioned. “I must be a good actor then if I was able to trick you.” 

“How can you suddenly turn into someone so cold...” You said. “You would never hurt anyone that you care about. When Kirishima got into an accident you didn’t hesitate to be by his side.” 

“Because he’s a person I actually care about unlike you.” 

Little by little your heart was shattering by the amount of daggers he kept shooting at you. You didn’t know how much more damage you’d be able to take before he was able to destroy it completely. 

“T-then if I was only a bet why didn’t you end things earlier huh?!” You demanded, “Tell me!” 

Bakugo turned his back to you, he was so close to breaking. His mind was screaming at him to forget about it and stay with you. He was hating himself for the words that kept slipping out. 

“I was meaning to break up with you for a while...” He bit his lip trying to keep himself together. “But I wanted to see how you fell for me even more.” Bakugo blinked away the tears that were forming and faced you once again. “Then again I was feeling suffocated by being with you every day.” 

A cocky smile rested on his lips.

Moving your neck to the side, you breathed out with a slight smile. Your hands formed into tight fists. A tear rolled down your cheek and fell onto the floor. Your body began to tremble with anger and pain. All you wanted was to scream at him. 

“I went against what everyone said...” You sniffled. “I didn’t care about anyone else getting affected by it if it meant being by your side. You were my everything⎯ fuck Bakugo... fuck!” 

In that instant his eyes changed. His body moved to comfort you, to hold you in his arms once again but he couldn’t. 

“Is this how you care about people?” Pain was written all over your face. “You trick them into thinking you actually give a crap about them then toss them away once you get what you wanted?!” 

He stood quiet as he absorbed every insult you threw at him. 

You shook your head slightly as your eyes moved to the left before looking directly at him. “You know what? I don’t even know why the hell I’m even bothering with you when in the end you’re not going to remember what I say. You’re a scumbag and I feel sorry for whoever the hell had to come across and deal with you Bakugo.” 

“I’m pretty sure they feel grateful.” He smirked. 

“I gave you everything I had to offer, I loved you with all consequences that were attached when I decided to be with you.” You sighed. “But that didn’t matter to you to begin with. You didn’t care about meeting my family formally or wanting to talk with my dad about us. You were just putting on a show,” smiling sadly you stepped back from him. 

“And unfortunately I fell for every sweet word you told. I fell for it without giving it a second thought.” Biting your lip you took the necklace off from your neck, “This was just another act to add onto your show wasn’t it?” 

“I thought it was a nice touch to add.” 

You raised your elbow, with your fist closed tightly wanting to punch that smug look off of his face. “People like you deserve to be alone. You shouldn’t have the privilege to love anyone or for anyone to get close to you. Because all you do in the end is hurt them when all they were doing was caring about you.” 

Holding the necklace in your hand, you tossed it onto his desk. “I may have been another victim in your game but at least I have a clean conscious. I hope one day someone with a sinnister mind like you comes along and turns the game around to hurt you in the end. Maybe then you’ll understand the hole that is now left inside of me.” 

You took one last look at him trying to remember the person you had fallen in love with. But all you saw was a stranger, one that you hope you’d never get to meet again. 

As you walked away, Bakugo looked at the ground. His eyes glossy with the tears he had been holding back since he started saying those vile words to you. In the end he not only broke you process but also himself. 

“Oh by the way.” You stopped in the doorway, looking at him. Bakugo lifted his head to see your teary eyes. “I guess you were right about Todoroki... maybe I should have chosen him instead when I had the chance. He’d probably would have treated me better than you ever did.” 

Quickly you walked out trying to get away from him as soon as possible. As turned the corner you bumped into someone. “Sorry.” You mumbled and continued to walk but they held on your wrist, stopping you. 

“What happened?”

Looking up you saw Daichi standing there, looking at you with worry in his eyes. 

“It’s over.” You whispered. “We’re done.” 

“Y/n...” He pulled you into his chest, holding the back of your head gently. One of his arms were wrapped around your waist tightly. 

An enormous amount of loud sobs escaped from within you. Your hands held onto his shirt tightly, clinging onto him for dear life. 

Bakugo wiped away the tears that escaped. 

“Are you happy now?” He loudly spoke. 

The figure that hid behind the tall file cabinet stepped out. “I am.” She said walking over to him. “Don’t be sad, Katsuki.” Her hands held his face gently, looking him in the eyes. “I promise that the memories you had with her will be gone and they’ll be replaced with ours instead.” 

“I’ll never be with you-” 

“You have to.” She looked at him coldly. “Or else your little Y/n will be expelled and I’ll make sure everyone at school knows about your secret relationship,” she threatened. “I can already see it. Her being humiliated in front of the whole school-” 

“You promised you would delete those photos-”

“I will.” She sweetly smiled at him, “As long as you hold your end of the bargain.” 

He needed to protect you, even if it meant you resenting him in the end.

Horikoshi giving hero tropes to the villains is probably my favorite part of bnha.

He presented us with a nervous wreck of a boy at the beginning of the manga. Look, he seemed to say, isn't he creepy? isn't he evil? He met Tomura in his most lanky form. Malnourished, neglected, real dead hands all over his body and blunt nails digging mercilessly in his skin.

Sure, the story paints him as a real villain. He is there to kill kids, after all. He wants to kill the light of the hero society, to spread violence and hatred all around. He's also very very suspicious. You get that feeling that there's more to the story. It's in the way he acts, his desperation. He looks sick. What is he making him so? What is his story?

Tomura is a loser. A failure since the beginning, if you follow the narrative. Characters like Stain, Overhaul and Redestro point it out: Tomura isn't the best strategist per se, they can't understand his reasons to do what he does, there's something wrong with him in villain terms.

That's when the brain starts to pick up the signals and plants the doubt. Many people don't notice it, but something in the story gives away that he is a very special type of villain.

We see him alone in his dark messy room, staring at a screen. We see him drinking alone in a bar as he sits on his misery. Over and over, we see that evil boy and his burdened stance. Only Kurogiri is there. His master only talks to him through some radio. He doesn't mention anyone else. No one else seems to live in that bar but Kurogiri and him.

Back then, when Tomura was all about AFO and All Might and no one else, he felt hollow. Rotten.

We first saw him approach someone for help and some company after the first LOV members were introduced. We meet Toga and Dabi, then Tomura goes to find Deku. Is he still creepy? Yes. Is he still evil? Also. We have Giran talking about Tomura with the fondness you reserve for a spoiled child. The way Kurogiri and Giran talk about it, it's more like Tomura needs to make some friends. He's not used to it, so he's being rude to them.

He's a chosen one reluctant to make friends, since he's used to doing things on his own— or at least with people he didn't care about. Next time we see him, his telling Kurogiri that he doesn't want them to die, he wouldn't sacrifice them for a goal and he actually wants them to succeed. He talks like a leader, he considers them important.

When they show us the LOV around Tomura as he talks to a kidnapped Bakugo, there's something in there already. How they worry when Bakugo hits Tomura and knocks the hand out of his face. They humanize Tomura, which is a lot to say when AFO did everything he could to dehumanize him. They make Tomura be more mature, more responsible and more capable. While AFO paints Tomura as a foolish child that cannot get things right until he's guided there, the LOV trusts Tomura to take care of himself and guide them.

That's when the hero tropes with villains started.

A quick list from the top of my head:

Twice overcame his trauma mid-battle in order to save Toga and then the LOV.

Tomura was tempted by Overhaul to betray the LOV in exchange for power. He pretended to agree, only to backstab Overhaul because Tomura would never forgive those who hurt his friends and would never betray the LOV.

Magne went to attack Overhaul for offending her and her friends, defending their ideals and their right to exist 'til death.

Mr. Compress took the leading role in many dangerous situations to assure that the LOV would get their win, but also to assure they'd make it out alive.

Tomura would forgive people not on his behalf, but for the benefit of the LOV.

Giran refused to sell any info about the LOV and laughed in his captors face because he was not so important to them. Turns out he was bluffing about it being all business, since we know from Twice's flashback that he did it also for the fondness he felt towards the LOV and the LOV went there to rescue him.

The LOV rushing through a battlefield the size of a city while desperately trying to find a way to save Tomura.

Twice and Mr. Compress refusing to leave Tomura fighting Gigantomachia alone and taking the burden of his training with him.

Dabi doing all he could to save Twice and snapping when he realized Twice was dead.

Mr. Compress worried about Toga and her solo mission.

Spinner telling Toga that she needs to come back safe and sound to them.

Tomura refusing to die or give up while the LOV still needs him (to be a hero).

Twice already dead and still moving because he needed to save Toga.

The entire LOV refusing to even consider defeat because they blindly believe that there is no way Tomura can lose.

And there's so much more...

The LOV made Tomura act heroic. They gave him a reason to want to save and protect, instead of just wanting to destroy.

The power of friendship but for evil.
