And Buck being SO nervous about it, and Tommy's just like "Evan??? I've met both of them before, already? It's not gonna be that bad! It's not like we're having dinner with your parents!"

And Buck just kinda looks at him...and Tommy suddenly recalls all the times Buck has talked about Bobby, and all the times he's talked about Athena, and how much he cares about them, and how much he's always appreciated how much they care about him...

and Tommy's suddenly like "OH MY GOD WE'RE HAVING DINNER WITH YOUR PARENTS"

Anytime I stay up past midnight I start thinking 9-1-1 plot points and make myself cry.

For example that hug Eddie gives Bobby in s2 after Peppa picked Chris up. I’m sure it has already been talked about but THAT was the first time someone supported Eddie so he could take care of his son.

Bobby walks in and Eddie is ready to defend himself, his decision. But Bobby immediately validates Eddie’s decision and gives him his support.

“I had nowhere to take him.”

“Yes you did. Here. Buck gave me a heads up and I cleared it up with the chief.”

Can you imagine? Coming from 2 years of constantly being corrected and challenged with every choice you make for your kid. Constantly being made to feel like a bad dad and incompetent. Then you get to this place and this person of authority that is Dad shaped tells you “you made the right choice , and I cleared the path for you to take this choice”

He wanted to be a firefighter because he missed the camaraderie. He needed to feel like people had his back again. But I don’t think he ever imagined to what extent the 118 would give him that.

Bobby being a Dad is so special to me. Eddie got home that day. He finally got home.

I just think it would be really funny if Bobby and Ravi had a heart to heart and then after Ravi’s like, “just so you know I have a really good relationship with my dad.” and Bobby’s like, “???” and Ravi goes “yeah, my dad and I are pretty close. we talk on the phone all the time. whenever I go back home he takes me out to whatever his latest birdwatching haunt is and makes me watch his favorite cricket highlights but I secretly like it. he’s a good guy. so I get what you’re doing for the others but I don’t need a dad I just need a cool boss. which you are. so thank you. I just wanted you to know I’m not using our relationship to work through parental trauma”
