In terms of Wenclair nicknames, I believe in ‘Enid using Willa’ supremacy and φεγγάρι μου (‘my moon’ in Greek) is especially beloved to me, but I also love little shit Enid who calls Wednesday any day of the week EXCEPT Wednesday (“Hey, Monday!” “What do you think about this Sabbath?” “Oh thank god you’re here Friday”) and it annoys her favorite murder goth to NO END but slowly said murder goth becomes endeared by her roomate’s antics as feelings start to tumble and bloom away. Besides ‘my moon’, I can also see her calling Wednesday ‘silly raven’ in Greek.
Meanwhile, Wednesday has this wholeass evolution from shit like “mutt” to way softer nicknames because Gomezifcation™️ is a powerful thing. She starts to pine and internally call Enid her Alectrona (a greek goddness of the Sun, known for sunrise or ‘waking from slumber’, a perfect combo of how Enid brings light to Wednesday as well as her inner wolf finally waking up), but slowly she starts using it out loud along with “mi sol” (‘my sun’, Spanish), “mon petit chiot” (‘my little pup’, French), and “la mia vita” (‘my life’, Italian). Enid melts everytime without fail and stutters in Greek and honestly? Who could blame her when Wednesday has that passionately lovestruck shine in her eyes as adoration drips from devout lips.

God I could and should write a whole fucking book by the end of this life here on Lev and his symbols
ill write it then burn it before anyone else gets a copy. or i wont. im supposed to be helping him this incarnation here to get a better anchor in this plane so maybe it would help more than itd be weird - im just getting from him the energy of "yeah no people already effectively have these things, people on my plane already know me inside and out to an extensive degree, may as well have it here too" you know. fair
#ramblings //#ugh god i love his tone saying that tho. i kept trying to prod to see if it was a ''ugh yeah people know me inside and out and Yes Its#Invasive But -'' but no#oh my god man. his like energy towards his people is..... BEFORE I SAY THIS#I HOPE YOU ALL KNOW IM ANTI PROPAGANDA. the biggest reason i dont work with Lu and others is bc theres this tendency to#be like ''we're darkness but also light! we're teachers we're enlightened we're pure in our own way and the kings are here to#teach you how to empower yourselves and they love all worshipers and they reject all tyrannical authority and they are the good guys#against the chrxstian god who (insert specific atrocity that actually was committed by the kings not the 'chrxstian god' - and#''demons'' should KNOW that because it was AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE WAR so either theyre LYING orrrrr) and we're actually#really down to earth and more holy than anyone else bc we're enlightened - i mean uh uh no wait that contradicts us being#against the love and light style of enlightenment chasing'' like. i will tell you that my boss has massacred a lot of people i will tell yo#im anti monarchy and i dont believe that the kings' peoples are any better than 'angels' and i will tell you a lot of innocents on both#sides have been lost bc of royalty and rich families the kings are directly tied to#so i hope you know that when i say the way lev treats his people in his mind is..... holy shit#i pick apart everything he does. ive seen sides of him that are dark af (and i love him for them lmfao) but as soon as his people are#involved... have you ever been w someone getting hot and bothered and a kid walks in that you thought was sleeping and you just switch#completely into parent mode like. he'll have complex fictions w me helping me write stories about corrupt monarchies and shit#and then no. he is like. hes very good at mindset switching and going immediately into different faces but i swear#his ''i am a king and a king is a head of a mass of people - a king is a servant to his people'' mode is like. impenetrable#he is so. fucking intensely single-minded and trained to be a king unlike anyone else. anyway what was i talking about#OH YEAH. his tone w what i wrote in the post. was so switched into that mode of ''my viscera is theirs to eat as Im splayed on their table#and this is divine ruling. this is my purpose with them'' type shit. PURE thought. there is no other energy i can find in it other than#pure ''this is my job and i do it''. pure as in distilled. a pure tone like a sine wave played on a synth as opposed to a string plucked#leviathan //#ive. im nervous about saying the shit ive said here lmfao but ive had his OK before to say it ALSO. AS I SAID. theres no way his people#dont know the massacre was done by the kings lmfao. like. yall were involved. and also you all have to know that one of the#people that pretends to be the christian god is. two of the kings actually and since lev commonly appears to people and lets them#decide who he is bc hes never arsed making a show of Being Leviathan and whatnot im sure hes been called God plenty of times#too but like. cmon. I dont know who started the ''oh the uh the invading heaven and killing off half the population was the#chrxstian god'' rumour but i was first exposed to it through lu and (his wife) worshipers so yall get the blame - that said...

You gotta explain one thing to me because I need to understand.
How do you see Kazuichi and Sonia's relationship? Like, how do you think they would interact with eachother after Kazuichi being creepy towards her (in the game and the anime)?
You hardly ever draw them interacting but they're both a part of one found family, right?
It's not an attack or hate or anything I just want to understand how you see it.
well firstly because I love to be difficult I don't Gotta do anything <3 but I get you
Basically
Kazuichi wakes up much less of a hormonal teenager for one. He also gets some Processing Time re: gender, sexuality and What He Wants (having a beautiful blonde princess gf was only about validation and not Actual Feelings). Also, he, like everyone else, gets A Talk from Hajime probably (the talk is like 'hey we all have to live together and we cannot fuck this up so everyone own their Issues right now immediately' this also goes for Fuyuhiko's anger issues and such). If they're gonna make this work everyone HAS to respect the others and be willing to change, Kazuichi somewhat especially (again, Fuyuhiko too, tho he already showed a willingness to change in spades).
Sonia doesn't think the behaviour was Fine but it feels very hard to hold onto anger for a) one of the 4 people left in your life b) after you both committed actual atrocities. Like the perspective is like "he was very annoying and inappropriate and belittling however I destroyed an entire country so. Priorities." Hopefully she'd also be amenable to a talk, wherein they both get to share their feelings and come to an understanding. Never gonna be besties, but they're family. It helps that Sonia is just. Super duper sweet.
I always wanted to do a confrontation comic where Sonia gets to tell and make her feelings known (I think her polite and kind manner needs to step down for a sec for her to really get it all out) but it's so much dialogue.... But it would basically be "you make me feel like shit, the way you treat me, even if YOU perceive it to be nice".
Basically, they're family and they love each other and also have a lot of problems in their past that might pop up sometimes (not unusual for family tbh)

Awful Characters Round 4 (3/4)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda under the cut!
XUE YANG
he's evil and kills like hundreds, maybe thousands of people, for like not super good reasons (like killing the person who wronged you as a child? understandable in the setting of the story. killing every single person associated with that person? perhaps a bit overkill baby). tricks a character he's obsessed with into murdering a lot of innocent people including that guy's best friend. that all being said, I love him to death like that's my special little babygirl yeah he commits atrocities but have you considered that maybe he just needs someone to love him? or even that he looked cute while committing the atrocities? but nor fr I was kinda surprised when I got to the fandom stuff and realized that there were people who really hated Xue Yang because I just felt sorry for him and wanted to pat his head or something.
DONQUIXOTE DOFLAMINGO
He's a manipulator, an abuser, a groomer (tho not sexually), and has committed both patricide AND fratricide. He took over a country through a bloody coup. He's the epitome of a toxic head of a family. People pity him because of what he went through as a child but his brother went through the exact same thing and didn't turn out Like This. VERY fun villain tho, I love him. He's just a horrible horrible person <3
Became king of a country by literally puppeteering the old king and royal army to start murdering his subjects ending the like 700 years of being in 0 wars, he is also turning people into toys who keep their memories but everyone else forgets they existed. These toys, along with some Little People (like the size of mice little) are also being enslaved to make something called SMILEs

What lore predictions do you have for the b.o.b?
I really hope we find out wtf is going on between him and the Axolotl tbh
I really hope this ages well 😭
When it comes to his personal lore (as in origin story) I believe non of it will be true; he'll dramatize every detail he's physically able to, and he won't even try masking it. We'll be able to see his lies, but the truth will come out to be real clear when we'll read between lines (as in "liberated my dimension" means " Arson is my middle name and everyone that once knew me can confirm that I love burning people). The codes and ciphers Bill will leave hanging around the pages will contain heavier lore drops, but really decontextualized, and will be mostly gossip.
He will definitely give us some juicy lore about all these "higher" beings (?) that the Gravity Falls cast has encountered throughout the series, like Time Baby and Jheselbraum. Maybe he'll introduce us to someone new characters! But the thing about unreliable narrators is that you never know where the lies end and where the truth starts, so it'll mostly be a competition on who he trash-talks about more hahaha.
Of course, OBVIOUSLY, the Axolotl will be there. Not only because of his apparent connection with Bill, but the way Alex has portrayed them both in the promos he's posted on Instagram, makes me believe there's absolutely some deep things going on between those two. Personally, I feel like he sees the Axolotl as some kind of hypocrite and coward. He's envious the Axolotl is respected while Bill is plainly feared and "betrayed" constantly. There will be a bunch of pages dedicated to this guy - half of them just insulting him, the other half explaining how they met (while insulting him, of course). He'll make sure to let us know he's infinitely better than the Axolotl, in all aspects possible.
The Henchmaniacs! They will be there! Tho, I don't know if this book is supposed to be set before or after the events of Gravity Falls. Depending on what part of the timeline the book covers, there'll be more or fewer detriments directed at them. He'll explain the nobodies they were before joining him and how they came to him, dragging on the ground, searching for divine enlightment and loyal servitude. And he, as benevolent as he is, gave them the blessing of being his henchmen. If the book is located after the events of Gravity Falls, this will be flooded with irony (or maybe he's totally oblivious and doesn't actually care they made him a statue saying he's the worst).
Weird anatomical and physiological facts about himself! He knows what we crave, and he'll give it to us. We'll regret ever thinking of wanting to know how his eye-mouth-tongue operates! This will be extensively graphical, and there will be illustrations and schematics of it! I hope!
He'll explain to us what the hell he meant when he said he eats his own exoskeleton! (WE'LL KNOW WHAT'S THERE BEHIND HIS EYE???? IS HE SOME KIND OF MR KRABS BLOB OF FAT AND MEAT UNDERNEATH HIS very jazzy triangle OUTFIT?)
He'll take credit for an innumerable quantity of cults and important historical events he claims to have influenced, participated in, or fully provoked! Ford gave us the info he had about Bill's global influence, and Bill's going to expand on it and give us his side of the story! (Maybe he'll explain more stories like the one document Ford had that talked about "Billius Cipherus"?)
He'll tell us how he got his powers cause he ain't convincing anybody saying he just popped into the Universe like that. Sweet lore. He'll give us clues he had a sibling (<- I hope). He'll justify killing his family and explain the atrocities they commited against him. Maybe there really is some deep trauma buried in there? We gonna see tear marks when (if) he talks bout his family? Man, I WISH
Enchants, curses, summonings and all that stuff. They will be there.
And I'm gonna end this here cause I already have written too much and probably won't be able to correct any grammar mistakes I've made cause I'm ecstatic:
FORD...
You know he'll be there, you know half of the book will be about this poor babygirl, and he's gonna act tough, pretending he doesn't care bout nuthin but YOU KNOW THERE WILL BE DEEP IMPLICATIONS THAT THESE TWO WERE MORE THAN "STUDENT" AND "MENTOR". HE WILL TRY TO HIDE IT BUT WE KNOWWW WHAT THESE TWO LOOSERS WERE, WE KNOWWW THEIR DIRTY LITTLE SECRETT and I'm gonna be drooling about it –I won't sleep I won't eat, I won't drink, my brain will be picturing these two lil mfs wishing each other a good night ASHDHHSHS
Anyway, this is it for now, I apologize for any grammar mistakes that could cause potential brain damage! Thanks for the ask!

can I ask why you are hesitant to vote democrat this year? I'm not super versed in politics but I thought harris was a solid choice, I trust your judgement tho and I'm genuinely curious
Democrats are just as guilty as republicans for crimes against humanity committed by the US military or supported by our money. They regularly and easily kill people for profit and power. They're both capitalist parties and capitalism requires a permanent underclass of impoverished laborers. The democrats are inherently against my interests as a working class woman of conscience. They are at least closer morally in legal/social values than the right. However, the big decider is that the fascism is creeping a little slower on the left and that's why I have always voted democrat. America has always been a fascist state especially depending on your race, sex, sexual orientation etc. Fascism necessarily breeds atrocities and so the slower creeping fascism of the ""left"" is the better choice if I have to choose between the two. But if I don't have to choose between the two? Third party.

hector dovecote has spent so much time haunting the narrative that it’s gotten me thinking anott it him properly joining the narrative (aka thinking about another time travel au)
hector: *appears*
kid!clemmie: dad?? when did you get here?
hector: …..
kid!clemmie: wait you’re not my dad
endymion, walking in: FATHER???
there is no guide for what to do when your dead (grand)father comes back to life. endymion is so confused. clemmie is on the case tho!
the troublesome trio has a plan! (no they don’t)
elsewhere, max ravinstill suddenly feels like he needs to be doing something morally good.
This idea is GOLD!
Also, "the troublesome trio has a plan! (no they don’t)" - that is so real haha. It pretty much sums them up.
Okay, I'm gonna assume Clemmie is also a time traveller here for later plot reasons.
Poor Hector is going through it. Not only does he now have a grown up son who he last saw at a super young age, he also has a granddaughter?!?
Also on an even more depressing note, his wife has long passed :(
The man is trying desperately to catch up to what he's missed since he died.
Meanwhile the troublesome trio who have all been staring back and forth between the Endymion & Hector. Because Hector is at the age he died, which isn't too far off from Endymion's current age.
Clemmie, tugging on her grandfather's arm: Grandfather, you have to go visit your friend! Felix, having caught on: Yeah, you should definitely visit my grand-uncle! Nia: He really misses you!
This derails into Hector being like, "Yeah okay. My friend's a bit dramatic, I wonder how Magnus is doing. I should check in on him."
It's June. Something on the TV is playing - a playback about the previous year's games and both Aelia and Endymion are scrambling to shut it off/change the channel before any of the trio are traumatized. Again.
Hector, confused and someone accidentally lets slip the existence of the Hunger Games, and he's like "THE WHAT!?!" (It was Felix)
After a quick rundown of the games, Hector is like, "Change of plans. I need to go visit the esteemed President right now."
Luckily for him, Hector doesn't need to make the trip – it's one of those rare days that Pres.Ravinstill has decided to pick up Felix. (Shh no favouritism here.)
Upon President Ravinstill's arrival:
Pres. Ravinstill wondering if he's hallucinating - he's seeing 2 Endymion Dovecotes? Oh boy, time for a visit to Dr. & Dr. Vickers.
Hector Dovecote, clearly vibrating with anger: President Ravinstill. Pres. Ravinstill: Hector! ♥️ (Yes, he recognized Hector solely based on his anger.) Hector Dovecote: *barely resisting the urge to commit murder* You. Idiot.
THE trio + the Dovecote parents are subjected to Hector tearing into Pres. Ravinstill for the games and like...the other atrocities that's happened since Hector's death.
Felix is like in awe and also a bit fearful, he has never seen anyone stand up like this against his grand-uncle. Dr. Gaul is a bit different, she doesn't exactly scream at the President that he's thirteen different types of idiocy.
Felix and Nia are side-eyeing Endymion and Clemmie. Silently, they agree to never, ever piss off Clemmie.
Later:
Dr. Gaul is baffled that Pres. Ravinstill just straight up took this person at their word that they were Hector Dovecote. Like don't you want proof first? A DNA test? Blood test? Like anything?
Pres. Ravinstill: No.
But when Hector comes around the Presidential estate because he's found something else to yell at Pres.Ravinstill about, Dr. Gaul is like - no yeah, I can see it now. But she still insists on at least 2 tests.
(Clemmie finds it disturbing that her grandfather refers to Dr. Gaul as 'Volumnia" and a 'semi-friend'.)
~~~~
Bonus #1
Hector Dovecote is eventually restored to life in the eyes of the law. As Hector Dovecote, yes, you heard me right, folks.
They spin some story about how he hasn't really been dead, just like in a coma or something.
Pres. Ravinstill said: Trust me, it'll work. / Hector was skeptical for good reason.
Those who are still alive from their generation are like: HUH?? But he looks so young.
Then there's the children.
Festus: Why does your grandfather look like that? Clemmie: *panicking* Felix: He moisturizes. Nia, at the same time as Felix: Dovecote genes.
THE trio have been sworn to secrecy about Hector Dovecote being alive this whole time. It's somehow the only secret they manage to keep lol.
Bonus #2:
Clemmie finally having someone to confide in about her time-travelling. After explaining things though, Hector is like even more horrified. Like what do you mean things get worse?
Clemmie, nervously watching Hector's expression: Hector, after nearly five minutes of silence: do you ... want me to get rid of him for you? (Yes, he's referring to Snow.) Clemmie: Grandfather!
do u have any book recs for morally bad characters? not grey or ambiguous or whatever. i think id use ianthe as an example of what i mean
far be it from me to decide which character is "morally bad" or merely grey so for the purposes of this rec list i focus on characters who do bad things for selfish reasons. however, ianthe, beyond just being a villain-esque character, has that iconic persona(lity) which alas only few of the characters mentioned here share. so keep that in mind in case you wanted a list of ianthes😅
okay so when i think ianthe i think unhinged girl books, specifically boy parts by eliza clark. ik ik i keep mentioning it in every rec list but truly there's no other character who reminds me of ianthe more than irina sturges, minus the sword. boy parts is sometimes described as american psycho for girls and while i haven't read that book yet i can confirm that characters in bret easton ellis' other works (less than zero and the rules of attraction) are quite morally bankrupt and entirely unlikable, especially compared to the cast in the secret history by his fellow bennington graduate donna tartt who are themselves toeing the line between grey and irredeemable. that is, if such finer distinctions matter to you🤷‍♀️
dark academia typically features protagonists who are more or less evil which is true for joanne harris' gentlemen and players as well as its sequel different class. cracks by sheila kohler is another example - it's a short and weird book about girls in a boarding school commiting shocking atrocities. aside from we have always lived in this castle by shirley jackson, which i have already mentioned, books like tender is the flesh by agustina bazterrica and we need to talk about kevin by lionel shriver are bridging the gap between litfic and horror and focus on people who range from morally ambiguous to utterly despicable and frightening (yet fascinating). if you want to go all in with this latter vibe you could try killing stalking which is an extreme horror/dark romance bl manhwa. needless to say: always check the trigger warnings.
if hannibal lecter is someone who fits your understanding of "morally bad" you should try the og book series by thomas harris. fair warning tho: they are not queercoded like the show😅 two more series following the crimes of a nasty but compelling guy are the joe goldberg books by caroline kepnes and the tom ripley books by patricia highsmith. in the latter series i will admit i only like book one which stands on its own pretty well and after it i'd rec trying highsmith's other books instead - for example, strangers on a train. another thriller author to check out is christopher rice whose melodramatic and somewhat depraved early works feature deliciously problematic side characters. start with the snow garden and see if you like his style. my last thriller rec is for your own good by samantha downing which is about a bad teacher abusing his power to punish students he doesn't like.
switching the gears to historical fiction and classics. perfume: the story of a murderer by patrick süskind is the life story of a man who by all accounts is bad but if so why does his perfume smell so good? what does he put in there?? another perfect example of a character blurring the line between morally grey and black is the protagonist of thomas savage's the power of the dog. both books have very good film adaptations which i recommend as well.
if you want to try and tackle a dusty tome foregrounding wicked antiheroes consider reading vanity fair by william thackeray or dangerous liaisons by pierre choderlos de laclos. if you'd rather start with something shorter look no further than the picture of dorian gray, who i personally think is "darker" than just grey (ha), but if you already read it consider revisiting the classic via the uncensored edition. still shorter? then you might like another work by oscar wilde - lord arthur savile's crime. it's much more humorous and satirical, as is lieutenant gustl by arthur schnitzler - a hilarious stream of consciousness novella following an odious imperial army officer as he contemplates how to restore his damaged manly honor in the wake of another man touching his sword - not a euphemism but definitely a metaphor😅
i really struggled to choose sff recs☹️ the thing is, in your typical fantasy characters like this will either be pretty one dimensional villains or side characters with not a lot of screen time, whereas those on the main cast are rather what you would probably describe as morally grey. nevertheless, here are three recs i'm not very satisfied with: first of all, empire of the vampire's jean françois gives me ianthe vibes. so far he's a character in the frame narrative only but i expect he'll play a bigger role in the final book of the trilogy. secondly, there is a secondary villain character in the winnowing flame trilogy by jen williams who is honestly my favorite part of it and they do bad things etc by virtue of being a villain but,, maybe they're just misguided? maybe their friends and family didn't love them enough but the main villain did? i mean, who's to say🤷‍♀️ finally, the main character of lynn flewelling's nightrunner books has an evil ex who has a fun poor little meow meow arc in books 4 and 5 - you decide if it's worth reading the entire series bc of it. i mean it's pretty good old queer fantasy so it's worth it for other reasons too but yeah. you see what i mean when i say it's difficult😭
I think people forget that Flayn was kidnapped and had her blood extracted by the Slithers who then used it to destory an entire village and turn people into monsters. Do people really think she would want to side with her kidnappers who are responsible for the near genocide of her entire race, the reason why her mother died, and the reason why she had to be in Garreg Mach in the first place?
FORREAL THO……
This isn't some off-to-the-side interpersonal conflict the game can hand-wave for convenience, like CF Manuela forgiving Jeritza for stabbing her. The Slithers hunting Nabateans and using their blood to commit atrocities is literally a core component of the game's setting and plot. They're the reason the Church was established and why it is the way it is, why humans have Crests, why there are 3 nations now instead of just the Adrestian Empire, etc etc.
Like…I get why folks who enjoy CF would want to bring along Flayn (and Seteth), bc hey, Edelgard hates the Slithers too! Both know what it's like to have loved ones horribly slaughtered by the Slithers, both are treated like nonpersons by the Slithers, everyone knows common enemies are great for building bonds! But Edelgard very much does not have the Slithers on a leash at any point during the game. If either Nabatean tried to join Edelgard's side, it would be like serving themselves up on silver platters: the Slithers would either imprison them indefinitely (for blood supply) or kill them outright.
With the power and reach the Slithers have, Edelgard likely would not be able to keep either scenario from happening – and that's assuming she would even want to, given that her own view of Nabateans seems to be entirely informed by the Slithers. (I believe "monsters who control Fódlan from the shadows" is how she described them during that speech to the Black Eagles Task Force? Sure, she might've been being dramatic to hype up her teammates, but it sure doesn't inspire confidence in her ability to accept them as people!)
Sorry for this question, but what would be the reaction of Laurent from Bells for him to Damen's eventual death? I just want some angst and I just love your version of Laurent <3
hi lovely ❤️❤️ pls don’t ever apologize for sending me questions, i love talking to people about lamen and i’m super flattered you enjoy my fics! 🥺
OH BOY damen’s eventual death….. 😭 i believe (both in canonverse and bfh) laurent would follow damen shortly after his passing 🥺 and i don’t even think the cause of it would be s*icide. (tho i wouldn’t rule it out entirely) i just think his heartbreak would be too great for him to recover.
laurent’s immediate reaction would definitely depend on the circumstances surrounding damen’s death. meaning if damen passed away peacefully in his old age, laurent would still feel like his entire world collapsed on him but at least he would find the strength to tidy up their kingdom for one last time for a few years before passing away in his sleep. on the other hand, if damen suddenly died in his forties or something from some unexpected cause (a terminal illness, heart attack, slipped and hit his head etc) laurent would absolutely lose his entire sanity. i’m talking about refusing to sleep, eat or talk type of grief. he would go on like that for a couple of months at maximum before dying as well. :((
and if damen was assassinated or killed in battle? i can’t begin to imagine the type of atrocities laurent would commit to avenge him 🫢 let’s just say dracula from castlevania summoning night creatures from the depths of hell to wipe out humanity after his wife was murdered is a good reference…
What's pathologic about? It sounds cool and I might want to get into it
okay hell yeah now is my time to shine! thank you for the ask you're giving me the excuse to ramble about my new hyperfixation to not-just-a-brick-wall (tho sorry to all my orv followers and friends for having to deal with my patho bs).
(IF YOU ARE A PATHOLOGIC GUY READING THIS: BE MY FRIEND, DM ME, I NEED PATHO FRIENDS)
Take my words with a grain of salt because I'm playing through Pathologic 2 and reading Pathologic Classic HD's transcripts right now, so I don't have the full perspective, but I should be able to explain the essentials in a way that will (hopefully) intrigue you.
Essentially, at the very bare bones, Pathologic is a psychological survival horror game where you play as one of three healers stuck in an isolated town in the Russian Steppe (in the early 1900's iirc), struggling to keep its citizens alive even as your own fragile life is in the balance. Of course, there is a LOT more, but that is the most basic of the basics.
Each of the healers has a vastly different experience with the town and relationship with its inhabitants that colors their perspective and solution to the plague, though I will try to avoid going into spoilers here. The various factions in the Town-On-Gorkhon will treat each healer differently, actively hostile to one while being pleasantly manipulative to another.
Tumblr media
The Bachelor, also known as Daniil Dankovsky, is a pathologist and bachelor of medicine who is part of Thanatica, an institution in the City determined to defeat Death itself. He comes to the town at the behest of Isidor Burakh in order to learn from him and Simon Kain, a man the locals claim to be immortal. Daniil's precious Thanatica is under threat of being destroyed unless he can provide substantial results. Rather unfortunate that the two men were both found to be brutally murdered right before he arrives...
Daniil is an outsider to the Town and is treated as such, often being manipulated by the most powerful and belittled by the rest because of his lack of knowledge about the Town and its traditions. This leads him to becoming alienated from many of them and their culture. He can also be a massive asshole depending on how you want to play him (though each healer can) and my favorite characteristic is his habit of sprinkling Latin phrases into his speech without translating them.
Tumblr media
The Haruspex, Artemy Burakh, is a local of the Town who was sent away by his father, Isidor Burakh, to become a surgeon. He never completed his degree, entering into the front lines instead, but he still knows how to cut people open (and fix them up). He returns to the Town after receiving a mysterious letter from his father beckoning him home. When he arrives, he is immediately jumped by three men.
Why? They were hunting down Isidor Burakh's murderer, whom people believe is Artemy himself. Patricide is a harsh charge, and Artemy soon finds himself known as the Butcher. This sends his reputation plummeting and makes his life just that much harder. Guy has shit luck, what can I say.
A fascinating element of this route is Artemy's relationship with the Kin, the native people of the Steppe, whom he is related to on his father's side. Isidor was a menkhu, a spiritual leader and healer in Kin society who is the only one allowed to cut into human flesh. Menkhu are the ones that "know the lines", essentially meaning that they see the connections between all things.Now that Isidor is dead, that honor and duty fall upon Artemy.
There's a lot of lore surrounding the Kin but I'll stop here because I will go forever if I don't.
Clara is the Changeling. At the beginning of the game, she wakes up in a grave. She can heal the dangerously ill with her hands, but if they're not on the edge of death it just kills them instead. She also has an evil twin who she has to chase after and keep from committing atrocities every day. Clara is going through some shit, okay?
I love her but I don't know nearly as much about her as I do the other two. She's an elusive little gal who speaks like she knows more than you because she does.
There is also the whole meta framing of the game as a play. Before you pick a character in Pathologic Classic, there's a whole scene on a stage where they argue about who has a better solution to the plague. Every night during the game there is a performance about the coming day's strife. There are characters called Executors, bird masks, and Tragedians, blank masks, that often speak to the player rather than the player character. Artemy "knows the lines" (THE LINES OF THE PLAY THE LINES OF THE PL-).
It gets more meta as the game goes on but that's spoilers.
I'm not going over the basic mechanics right now because I am TIRED but I'll get to them in the morning so stay tuned for that.
Pathologic Classic HD is the original with all three routes. Pathologic 2 is a sequel/remaster/reexamination of the first game that goes over the same twelve days but with a few changes. I've heard it's a bit more accessible than Classic HD, but so far only the Haruspex route is out. You do not need to play Classic before you play Patho 2. They are both usually discounted very cheap on Steam!
PLEASE, PLAY THE GAME IF THIS HAS INTERESTED YOU AT ALL.
PATHOLOGIC CLASSIC HD
PATHOLOGIC 2
(If you want to get into the game but don't want to play, there are lots of analyses and a few playthroughs on Youtube. I'll link some in a reblog of this!)
... He did murder a shit ton of people tho. He literally murdered, EXECUTED, people who didn't want to join his revolution. There's pictures of a husband being executed by El Che in front of his wife and many others. Photographic evidence as well as records of such events.
"Look up Hitler and you'll find results that say he murdered like 10 million jews or whatever" is the fucking vibe I'm getting from this. Overexaggerated, sure, but it's brushing off the core issue that both were horrible people who committed the worst kinds of atrocities. If you're going to bash "conservative think tanks" for their content, at least do basic research on the subjects they're touching up on. Otherwise this is just you advertising your bias.
Mikaelson siblings as Titan shifters
Result of me being obsessed with the TVDU's Mikaelson family and Attack on Titan at the same time.
Is there any context or backstory? None. Reasons to think about this weird crossover? Not a single one. Would the lack of logic ever stop me? I think the answer is obvious. Guess who must have been preparing for the finals. Prepare yourself for the oddest thing you've read today, I guess.
Finn as the Colossus Titan. A thing I noticed in Kol's and Finn's confrontation after both were ressurected as vampires is that he is more willing to avoid Kol's blows and was fighting back only when neccessary. So, naturally, I've seen this as a sign of his suitability for the Colossus Titan because of it's general passive and defensive position in most battles. (also his height lol)
Elijah as the Armoured Titan. In general, I have a feeling that Elijah's suits always act as some sort of emotional armour that helps him keep going. Obviously, I drew an allegory between this psychological armour of his with the corresponding Titan (also... here somewhere lies the connection between Elijah's Red Door that he used to hide the atrocities he commited in the name of family, shielding himself from the guilt and trauma, and Reiner's ambivalent personalities: an image of a hero who protects his friends risking his life that he created to disguise the guilt of being a warrior who is responsible for the deaths of thousands. But we are not unpacking their metaphors of armouring themselves from the pain and responsibilities right now). Besides, Elijah's general physique mostly matches one of the Armoured Titan's one, imo.
Rebekah as the Female Titan. Literally very little explanation for this one except for the obvious connections and the fact that no ther Titans seems to be a better fit. Well, the only thing I can add is that Female Titan is known for the adaptivity and Rebekah seems like the most adaptive among her siblings.
Freya as the War Hammer. Decision mostly influenced by the fact that the ability of this Titan to create weapons out of thin air and the ability to fight remotely (by encapsulating the possessor in the crystal which reminds me of the way Freya can inflict damage without directly contacting/fighting the oponent) most of all reminds of magic which Freya possesses and the mystery of this Titan being held till the last season like Freya was mostly absent and non-active in the history of her family, each due to being held away from the main action (Freya by Dhalia and the War Hammer by the Tybur family).
Klaus as the Beast Titan. As Beast Titan is the projection of Titans' connection to nature, it was shows to possess the appearance of diffent animal species, and Klaus is undeniebly connected with his wolf side. So, his Titan would exhibit wolf-ish traits. Plus, it's simply hilarious for me.
Kol as the Attack Titan. As much as I adore the idea of putting Kol in the role of the Jaw Titan so he would be this little gremlin, Kol reflects Attack Titan's traits such as need for freedom, moving forward and, well, frankly, predicting various future plot evemts (tho I believe he didn't have the ability to communicate with his past and future identities). The Attack Titan is said to fight for freedom throught the history and Kol is known for seeking his freedom from Klaus' affinity of daggering whoever doesn't agree with him, and being short-tempered.
So little is known of Henrik that I have no idea what he possibly can be fit for, so I guess it's either the Jaw Titan or the Cart Titan. Dunno. Anyway.
Those ideas are not directly connected to the anime's plot, just me overthinking and having fun, I guess.
If you went the whole way till the end, congrats, you are such an adorable weirdo for being interested.
People who want 'nuanced takes' in the genocide of Palestinians by the Israel occupation forces but then only end up choosing the cowardly stance of 'being neutral', which is the emptiest opinion you can conjure.
"Killing innocent civilians is wrong on both sides" yea no shit? Which side has done more damage, for their enemies AND their own people? Which side is backed by the world's most influential military forces and actually has power in stopping the atrocities happening on both sides? Which side has silenced and taken out people like journalists and people who simply show their support of Palestinians having the right to live? Which side has bombs and firearms strong enough to destroy massive lands, along with protected spaces like hospitals, schools and churches where people take refuge? Which side has been spreading false info multiple times, only to be refuted later on, even by their own side? Which side has been committing war crimes beyond humanity, dating back 75 years, even calling themselves colonizers at one point when it was acceptable?
What you think about Hamas or Israel forces has no bearing if the final verdict is "Well, they're both wrong so I can't differentiate". If all that 'critical thinking' leads you to nothing then there is no point except bringing focus away from things that should matter, and it be better you shut up. Because I hope damn well you are putting more of your energy into things that actually have substance
Educating myself through these tho there are many more resources that I should look up later on
decolonize palestine
Boycott Divest and Sanction (BDS)
