The funniest show on television is Girls5Eva, which transplanted from the backwoods of Peacock to the mires of Netflix for its third season. While a lot of shows have taken off after landing on Netflix — You, for instance — Girls5Eva, from the data available publicly, didn’t get many viewers on the platform. I’m no expert on the mechanics of streaming, but I have one radical explanation for why this is happening: There are simply not enough episodes of Girls5Eva available to watch. On Peacock, the show had two eight-episode seasons. Netflix has given it an additional six. That means that Girls5Eva has aired, in total, only 22 episodes, about the same number as a full-season order of an old-fashioned network sitcom like 30 Rock, to which Meredith Scardino’s series is deeply indebted (Scardino wrote on 30 Rock; Tina Fey is a Girls5Eva executive producer). Over a three-year period? This is simply not enough!
Sitcoms are built for mass production and consumption, with dynamics between characters designed to generate an endless stream of story lines, and it can take a season or two to fully gel. Girls5Eva is lucky enough to have a distinct sensibility and a strong cast from the start, but it hasn’t had the space to work through all the possible material. There’s so much to mine in flashbacks to the girl group’s checkered early-aughts past, in Wickie’s failed solo career, in Summer’s wackadoo Christian upbringing, in Gloria’s fraught lesbian drama, and in Dawn’s attempts to find her own way as a songwriter (plus the larger meta arc of Sara Bareilles coming into her own as a comedic actor). Season three, in which the crew goes on tour around the country, tries to cover so much ground it’s like a distance runner sprinting at her vO2 max. The overarching plot — they want to perform at Radio City Music Hall — encroaches on all the fun along the way, rushing past a guest appearance from Cat Cohen, the reveal of Wickie’s real backstory, and an intricate Harry Styles parody. Sitcoms should be about all the fun everyone is having along the way, and we’ve lost that.
But there is another and perhaps more important reason that we need longer seasons of Girls5Eva: holidays. Network sitcoms, airing on a traditional schedule, have the opportunity to set episodes around the holidays near which they would air; think of the Thanksgiving episodes of Friends, The Office’s Christmas episodes, 30 Rock’s impeccable use of Leap Day. In my ideal universe where Girls5Eva has 22-episode seasons, Netflix would also abandon the binge strategy and air those episodes weekly, but that’s not a necessity. You could still drop them all at once, which gives me the opportunity to revisit the holiday episodes as those holidays occur throughout the year. If you need convincing, here are my suggestions for some holidays the Girls5Eva might celebrate:
Christmas (duh): Dawn tries to write a Christmas song; Wickie reveals a longstanding feud with Mariah Carey (she claims one of the items from her riff rolodex appears in “All I Want for Christmas Is You”; Mariah does not know her).
Thanksgiving: The girls try to book a gig at the Macy’s Parade (as Peacock actually had the stars do, to the confusion of my parents watching at home) while also atoning for their past sins at the event (revealed in flashback).
Valentine’s Day: Gloria revisits a past relationship with Taylor Lautner (she was his dentist).
Tax season: Summer reveals she hasn’t been paying taxes for years (thought you were covered if you already paid your church).
Presidents’ Day: Dawn tries to write a song about Lincoln being sexy, inadvertently offends a gay activist group.
Pride month: Return of Bowen Yang’s lip-sync influencer.
Cuffing season: Big for Gloria.
The Feast of San Gennaro: Big for Dawn (why is the show so all-in on Sara Bareilles being Italian??).
V-E Day: Wickie and Dawn’s husband, Scott, discover their mutual fascination with the Eastern Front: “I spent a lot of time touring post-Soviet states, okay!”
Casimir Pulaski Day: Gloria has beef with Sufjan Stevens.

You’re welcome! Glad you appreciate the infamous pic of Italian Goddess Sophia Loren giving blonde-bombshell Jayne Mansfield the ol’ side-eye.
The photograph was taken in 1957 by Delmar Watson at Romanoff’s, a restaurant located in Beverly Hills.

“he’s every woman’s type. tall, dark, lean, handsome, broad shoulders, i mean what more could anyone want?” not only does he have beautiful manners and insane flirting skills but he is a freaking DUKE and you’d get to live with him in his italian villa. plus i’ve always had a thing for drummers. basically he’s the fictional man of my dreams
Tumblr media

Batfamily Audiovisual Headcanons, Part 1
Dick Grayson: sounds like either Loren Lester (B:TAS) or Neil Patrick Harris (UTRH), both of their voices are pretty similar. Tbh I think about Ian Somerhalder a lot when I’m writing him description-wise, but so as not to ignore Dick’s Romani background, Danny Shepherd (who played him in the great Youtube series Nightwing: The Series) is probably a better fit. I don’t know what his ethnicity is.
Jason Todd: OK, it’s easiest for me to think of Jensen Ackles (UTRH) when it comes to Jason’s voice. However, since hearing Alejandro Saab in the fandub of Wayne Family Adventures, my heart has found another. In terms of looks...*sighs*. I HC Jason as being half-Hispanic & half-Italian, with green eyes (whether they’re natural or because of the Pit, IDK) and curly hair. Lately I’ve been using Peter Gadiot as his FC. Just don’t forget the white streak & thick thighs!
Tim Drake: the only age-appropriate voice actor take I’ve liked was Cameron Bowen’s (YJ). Personally, I’m cool with Tim being any race, as long as it reasonably fits his floppy long-haired look. A buddy of mine recommended Ryan Potter to play Tim, and I like that (yes, I know he’s in Titans, playing Garfield Logan). Ryan’s Jewish-American & Japanese.
Damian Wayne: at least while Dami’s a teen, I think Stuart Allen’s voice acting in The Judas Contract is a good fit. Though biracial children can look more like either parent, I do like to see Damian portrayed with tan (rather than light) skin. Arsalan Ghasemi is too old to play a teenager now (he’s 27), but I can’t help thinking about him as the little guy. Picture him years ago.
Alfred Pennyworth: I really like David McCallum’s (Son of Batman; look at 3:29) take on Alfred’s voice. I tend to think of the animated version of him (B:TAS), who is sassy as hell.
Bruce Wayne: Kevin Conroy (JL:U) is the perfect Bruce/Batman voice, IMHO. I tend to imagine his look in the animated series B:TAS, but I guess someone like Eric Bana would make a good Bruce.

Do any Omori fans know where the fanon Surname "Suzuki" came from?
I'm not a super stickler for the fan names (My fiance prefers Kelvin for Kel, and I prefer Gabriel to the popular "Henry" for Hero. I also have aubergine as an affectionate nickname for Aubrey, not her real name)
I mean... in my head Sunny and Mari (in AUs where she lives) end up changing their names to their Mom's maiden name, Evans, after Sunny is disowned and the parents divorce. So it's not a huge issue, but I'm still curious where it came from.
While I'm here my headcanons for the other kids:
Hero and Kel's surname is Rivera.
Aubrey's surname is Malory
Basil's surname is Endicott
and while I don't have headcanons for ALL the other Faraway Kids, Mikhail, Daphne and Bowen give me Mediterranean vibes. Possibly Greek, Italian or maybe even Maltese? Though if you named any country on the Mediterranean Sea I would agree.

and like I said, implied he was interested in shooting his shot but he didn’t feel the vibes with him. // his italian friend said basically the same thing in a book about “supposedly” Pedro and yet a whole roman was created out of that lol. Roti trying to suggest Pedro told Bowen he wasn’t single is so… I don’t even have words. He could do anything, absolutely anything, and Roti would say it’s because he isn’t single and he’s dating his soulmate that he met 500 years ago in another life
Bro, this thing about trying to say the character in his friend’s book is based on him is complete desperation and bullshit. He wrote that book before Pedro became closer friends with him and when he was basically still married. 😅 And no, Pedro didn’t tell Bowen he wasn’t single. Bowen didn’t even try because the vibes just weren’t there. But when Madina says he was giving single energy because there was definitely chemistry, it’s all a huuuuge problem, right? 😅

New migration agreement would be perfect reset of UK-EU relations
A new agreement on migration would not only help improve Britain’s ties with the EU, but would also split the Labour Party, Next Generation Centre fellow at the Adam Smith Institute, Alexander Bowen, argued.
Ahead of the European Parliament elections, the parties of the Europe of Guardianista dreams are in free fall. The Greens, who were successful in 2019, are now under the double blow of COVID-19 and the war in Ukraine on inflation and energy prices.
One recent forecast sees the Greens’ vote share halved to 6 per cent. Another forecast suggests they could return to the same number of MEPs they had in 1999.
At the same time, the German Greens, who led in Europe last time and who make up a third of all European MEPs from the Greens, could still be pushed down to fourth place, behind the Alternative for Germany (AfD) and the Social Democratic Party.
The Socialists & Democrats Group, led by Nicolas Schmit, will also suffer a blow.  Polls show that they are on track for their worst result in their history: 134 out of 720 seats. Even Portugal, which has been at the vanguard of a social democratic comeback, is expected to return a significant national-oriented majority in the form of the Liberal Initiative and Chega.
The case with France and Italy is roughly the same. In both countries, all leftists combined will be lucky to get more than a quarter of the vote. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s party, the Brothers of Italy, is expected to rise from 6 to 26 per cent. In France, meanwhile, national-oriented parties are likely to get half of the vote.

Reliquary Continued
El Greco (Domenikos Theotokpoulos) Spanish, 1541-1614 Oil on canvas During a meal in the house of Simon, a repentant woman, often assumed to be Mary Magdalene, anointed Christ with costly oil. Although Simon condemned her faith, and the episode came to be associated with the sacrament of penance, whose value was reaffirmed by the Counter-Reformation. The scale of this work suggests that it served as the altarpiece of a chapel or side altar. The spatial distortions and the flamelike forms of the drapery, which seem to consume the bodies of the figures, are characteristic of the work of El Greco’s last years. Gift of Joseph Winterbotham, 1949.397 Workshop of Veronese (Paolo Caliari) Italian, 1528-1588 Saint Jerome in the Woods 1585/90 Oil on canvas Veronese mainited an active workshop, in which members of his family participated to meet the demand for paintings in his style. This picture may have been a collaboration between the artist’s brother Benedetto Caliari and son Carletto Caliari, who painted the landscape and he figural elements respectively. The broad brushstrokes do not demonstrate the freedom or effects of flickering light found in Veronese’s own work. Charles H. and Mary F. S. Worcester Collection, 1947.117 American Art (168) The Helen-Bowen American Art (170)The Julia Dole and Warner Green Baird Gallery The Hudson River School By the mid-19th century, landscapes by the Hudson school of artists had become the most popular paintings in the United States. Although Americans realized they could not compete with Europe in terms of cultural history, they were proud of their country’s spectacular scenery and prized the paintings that celebrated it. 1816 De WiTt Clinton, later governor of New York, spoke of the appropriateness of new American nation as a nation as a subject for landscape painting, asking: “Can there be a country in the world better calculated than ours, to exact the imagination- to call into activity the creative powers of the mind, and to afford just views of the beautiful, the wonderful and the sublime? Here, nature has conducted her operations on a magnificent scale.” Many Americans went further and viewed their land as a new Garden of Eden, interpreting awe-inspiring sites like Niagara Falls as proof of God’s creative powers. As the century progressed and human habitation filled the wilderness, landscaped gained nostalgic attractions. Hudson River school painters often eliminated signs of settlement in their pictures and used Native Americans as symbols of a pure, unspoiled nature. Tourists sites like New Hampshire’s White Mountains grew popuLar, and, for those who could not leave the city, landscapes of the preindustrial agrarian subjects provided a temporary respite froM urban life. After the Civil War, many Americans prospered and were able to travel more, and their outlook became increasingly international. Growing numbers of American artists studied in Paris, and painters such as George Inness began to portray the American landscape using the atmospheric, French-influenced styles. As a result, there was a decline in demand for the Hudson River school’s detailed views of the American Wilderness. William M. Harnett American, born Ireland, 1848-1892 r

BIOGRAPHY.
The result of an unplanned pregnancy, Alaric was born as one half of a pair of identical twin boys in Kismet Harbor to a young couple who tried very little to adjust to their lives as new parents. Leaving their young infant sons unattended, they prioritized their free-spirit lifestyle, denoted by parties and substance abuse, which resulted in manic frenzies and constant fighting in a home, unfit for two children.
It didn't take long until CPS took notice of the small family and placed the two boys with foster parents. Though they did try to keep the boys together, Alaric found himself lucky enough to be taken in by a local psychiatrist and his wife, who worked as a professor of performing arts at Chapman University while his brother ended up living with a family residing in Salem, OR.
At the age of nine, Alaric was officially adopted by his foster parents, who equipped the boy with everything they could. Music, literature, history and performing arts were only few of the interests the boy had been fed. He became a bright student with a hunger for knowledge and the drive to succeed.
As Alaric turned sixteen, his hunger for knowledge shifted, now leaning toward the desire to connect with his past. As his biological parents had left Kismet Harbor long ago, he focused his search on his brother Alastair, who he eventually managed to track down in Salem.
As he turned 19, Alaric left Kismet Harbor and moved all the way across the country to New York, pursuing his studies in history and education at Columbia University, his brother swiftly following suit. The brothers had managed to build a strong bond, though from Alistair's perspective it bordered on codependency. Alaric's twin brother, younger by no more than mere minutes at best, made it a point to rarely be seen without him, always lingering in immediate proximity. It lead to irritation and fights, that escalated until it was Alistair, who eventually left New York City.
During his time at Columbia, Alaric met Caroline. One might call it 'love at first sight' and the two entered a relationship not too long after first meeting. Though the falling out between his brother and him took much more of a toll on Alaric than he'd anticipated and he slowly began drowning his sorrows in alcohol, which in turn, strained his relationship with Caroline, who eventually was no longer willing to bear witness to the tragedy unfolding with her boyfriend and broke things off with him.
Suddenly being on his own, Alaric spiraled downward. With Caroline gone, nothing tied him to the big city any longer and he eventually moved back to his hometown of Kismet Harbor. Accepting a spot at Chapman University, he regained focus, working on remaining sober, which sometimes still proves to be a struggle.
Alaric, upon first meeting him, is a perfect gentleman. Always kind and level-headed, but a different story slumbers below his skin. Struggling with sobriety still, he tries his best to not get too caught up in his head, as he has to come to terms with the demons that come to light, once his vices get the best of him in irregular instances. Keeping his emotions in check and himself detached from most of the outside world, his reservations may be wrongly considered arrogance. To this day, Alaric finds it difficult to open up to people, who he has not yet come to know.
an actual bio will be written eventually
