Passion at a Night Club
Kinktober - Branden Lynch - Jealous!Sex
Summary: Reader by accident makes Branden jealous.
Notes: Based on the reader x Branden Lynch dynamic from Brother’s Keeper. Jealous!sex, dommy!Branden, possessive!Branden, squint there is exhibitionism leanings
You had slipped on a slinky dress. Twirling, you felt incredibly pretty. Tomorrow was the big day. Branden, you and the others with their respective bimbos were going to go out.
They were going to have a final night out. Leaning against your sink, you eyed your reflection. Inhaling you worked on your makeup. You did a few final touches before you were happy with it. It was only then did you slip into your heels.
The boy and Sterlo with you and Branden reluctantly agreeing decided to go to a night club. It was pretty popular. You had been there a few times with your friends. You would have preferred a more intimate night out. Playing pool and a round or two of darts would have been just as fun.
Going to your dresser you slipped on some bracelets that jangled as you walked. They made you smile. You were grabbing your purse when you heard the car horn.
Apparently, Sam rented a limo for them all. Sam’s threat of taking care of you after the heist still hung onto you, like a cold wet towel. At the moment, you shrugged off those feelings the best you could. Opening your door, you smiled the limo was very impressive.
The door of the limo opened Branden leaned out. “Come on baby, let’s go!”
“Coming!” You called back, you locked the door and then went running over to the limo. Well, ran as best as your heels would allow as they clattered across the pavement.
There were lots of huge grins and shiny eyes greeting you as you slid into the limo. Branden easily wrapped an arm around you and pulled you close to your side.
“Hi baby.” He smiled down at you. “Glass of champagne?”
“I would love one.”
“Great.” He squeezed your size. Reaching over, he grabbed a glass and a bottle. The bottle clanked against your glass as the limo continued to bump and drive through the night.
“Here you go.” He handed you the glass after putting the bottle back into the ice bucket.
“Thank you.” Sipping you giggled as some of the bubbles tickled your nose.
“You look hot!” He said loud enough for the others to hear. He leaned in close then, his breath was warm on your throat. “And incredibly fuckable.” He whispered, before pressing a kiss against your throat.
Your heart began to race at his words. Coyly you met his eyes, while taking another sip.
******
It wasn’t long before the limo pulled up outside of the club. You saw the huge line, you knew already that none of you would have to wait in it. A part of you liked to be part of a special entourage. The last time you and your friends and shivered a bit before getting inside. Though it was the price its cost made also feel a twinge of hollowness.
Soon you were all having a good time and you were able to push away all the bad feelings. You just wanted to dance with the man you had been dreaming of for so many years and be happy. And you were doing just that.
Your arms were loose around his throat and his hands held you close as the two of you moved to the music. You smiled up at him. “I didn’t know you were such a good dancer.”
He smirked down and leaned in close. “There is a lot I still have to show you baby.”
Pulling back, his delighted smugness came off him in waves. You loved it. It was good to see him so happy.
“Hey brother, I’m dry come with me and get more beer.” Sterlo clapped Branden on the back.
Turning he smiled at him. “Sure.” He winked at you. “I won’t be gone long.”
“You had better not be.”
******
He leaned against the bar, life was good. He had you, tomorrow was going to be a huge score. Then it would be easy street for the two of you, finally have a chance to start a new!
Turning, Branden gestured to call the bartender over. Sterlo was beaming from ear to ear. “Don’t get too attached, Sterlo. You still have to try and get back to your wife after all of this.”
Sterlo made a sound. “You’re right. But this has been lots of fun.”
Branden slapped him on the back. He leaned towards him. “It certainly has been.”
The bartender came over.
Branden held up two fingers. “Two beers mate?”
The man nodded. “What kind?”
Branden shrugged. “Doesn’t matter.”
“Alright.”
The man bent and grabbed two bottles. He twisted off the caps and pushed them toward him.
Sterlo, pushed some of the cash he had brought with him towards the man.
The bartender nodded and walked away.
Branden grabbed his, Sterlo grabbed his and held it up. He grinned. “To doing what we love.”
Braden, smiled and clinked his bottle against Sterlo’s. “To do what we love.”
They both took a hearty swig.
Sterlo, looked around him. Branden saw something in his eyes. “What’s the matter mate?”
Sterlo, looked back at him and shifted. “Nothing.”
“What?” Branden followed Sterlo’s eyes.
That’s when he saw some guy but against you dancing. Your eyes were closed, you were twirling your hands upward as your body matched those movements.
Branden’s anger ignited. How dare someone dance with his girl. What the hell were you doing, he thought angry. He practically, inhaled his beer.
Sterlo grabbed his arm. “She loves, she is just having a bit of fun.”
Branden looked at his hand. “She best remember that.”
Gritting his teeth and he soon was making his way through the throngs of people to get to you.
“Get the fuck away from my girl.” He practically snarled.
The man turned to look at him, gave him a once over. “Fuck off.”
You looked startled and jumped away from the stranger. “Who are you?”
The guy looked at the both of you. “Fuck both of you.” He walked away.
Branden closed the distance. He grabbed you and pulled you to him. “What the fuck was that all about?”
“I don’t know, I was dancing and thought you had come back.”
He exhaled. He was angry. “Come with me.”
“Branden, I’m sorry I had no idea.”
He stopped and looked back at you. “You should have opened your eyes.”
Looking around, he found a darkened hallway. Moving, swiftly he got behind you so that you braced yourself against the railing that led its way back up into the club.
“Are you telling me that asshole felt like me?” He pressed his body against you.
You trembled. “I’m sorry I was distracted.” You looked back at him over your shoulder.
“You should know better.” Reaching around he put his hands over yours, rubbed himself against you. “This is what you do to me?”
“Oh Branden.” You melted against him.
“I want you.”
“Take me then. Put me in my place.”
His bit at your throat. “Fuck, I will.”
He reached between them, opening his slacks. He pulled up the skirt of your dress. “Damn you. Look at you.”
Letting you go, he took himself out of his pants and reaching around. Pushing your panties aside, he entered you.
Low deep sounds came from the both of you. The sounds mingled and became one deep sound of lust.
“Fuck.” He finally managed. “You feel so good.”
“So do you.”
You arched against him as he began moving in and out of you. Finding your mouth, he hungrily kissed you. The kisses dampened the moans that came from deep within the both of you.
The music continued to swirl around the two of you. It didn’t, none of it did. All that did was the two of you. You soon were trembling against him. “You gonna cum for me?”
“Please!” You whimpered loud enough for him to hear.
“Cum for me baby. I want to feel it.”
Your kisses grew hungrier. “Branden.” You exhaled and shook.
Feeling your pleasure wash over him, he thrust harder into you. He reached up and held you as close as possible to him as he moved deeper into you.
Shaking, he soon exploded into you. “Baby.” He exhaled harder as he clutched onto you.
Together, your bodies trembled. “Oh, Branden. Oh Branden.” You breathed. “I care for you so much.” You whimpered. He pressed a kiss to your shoulder.
He watched as you smoothed your dress, as he carefully pulled out of you and tucked himself away. Seeing you trembling, he turned you gently. “I know baby.”
“Come here.”
He held you to him. “That drove me so crazy baby. I hate it when others have their paws on you. None of them know just how special you are.”
“You mean that Branden?”
“Yes. For the end of my days, I am going to make sure I can take care of you and not let anyone ever take advantage of you ever again.”
“Oh Branden.” You hugged him tight.
He buried his face deep into your hair. “Baby.” He breathed. “Always.”

Crumbs from the Table of Joy tells the story of the Crump family - a recently widowed father, Godfrey, who heads up north to Brooklyn, New York from Florida in 1950, with his two daughters, Ernestine and Ermina. Ernestine, from whose perspective the story unfolds, wants to become a writer. She bonds fiercely with her dead mother's sister, Lily, who has already migrated north in search of a life beyond the formidable struggles black people are facing every which way, and a platform upon which to fight against them. Godfrey, in search of a sense of belonging to wrench him from his grief, takes solace in the teachings of Father Divine. Young Ernestine studies these two survival strategies and draws some conclusions of her own when, by play's end, we find she has foreseen more of the twists and turns to come than we could ever dare imagine.

Appropriate, by Brandon Jacob Jenkins, takes us on a journey to a decaying Southern plantation home whose deceased patriarch leaves behind an unexpected legacy for his estranged children returning to divide up the estate. The grown children include a disgraced high school principal, a wealthy New York businessman, and the black sheep of the family who climbs through a window after having been disconnected for over a decade. In addition to bringing their own baggage to this dysfunctional family reunion, each sibling brings their new family members, including a wife, children, and a fiance. As they begin the process of painstakingly going through the contents of their father's years of hoarding to give, sell or throw away his treasures they come across a disturbing photo album. One which contains nothing but page after page of photos of black men being lynched. The family’s discovery about their father cuts right to the heart of their identities; as individuals, as a family, and as a part of an American history they thought they understood. Part ghost story, part family drama, part black comedy; Appropriate offers an unflinching look at one American family and their very own racial reckoning.

Brother’s Keeper
Part 9
Summary: You’re reminded who you belong too while prep for Branden’s job begins.
Warning: consensual…slightly angsty rough sex, dommy!Branden.
Branden was silent on the drive back to your apartment. Glancing at him a few times, you couldn’t help but noticed the sharp edge his jaw took.
Even when you pulled up to the parking spot outside of it, he still didn’t say a word. Sliding from your car, you left the door open and went in and right over to your freezer. Before opening it, you pulled off your summer dress and tossed it on your sofa.
Finally, out of the freezer you took what had been your only loyal companion before Branden broke out. Laying the long cold glass neck against your skin, you closed your eyes. A sigh broke your lips as you tilted your head back, it felt so good.
“I should be the one pulling those kinds of sounds from you.” Branden’s voice rasped above you.
You jumped a little but still held onto the bottle. You saw his stormy eyes.
“Then do it.” You challenged.
In moves you couldn’t follow, he had managed to pull the bottle from your hands and turned you around. He twisted the cap off and took a swig.
The bottle clanked on the counter beside you. He easily picked you up and placed you beside the bottle. Pulling one the strings, the bottom of your bikini became loose. It soon fell to the tile like a leaf in autumn. A smirk curled his lips.
You put the bottle to your lips, took a swig and put it down. “Well?”
A moan came from you as you watched him tug open his belt, followed by his jeans.
“I imagined those fucking sounds.” He pulled you to the edge of your counter.
You gripped the edge. A whimper, followed by a moan of pleasure came from you as he entered you. “I imagined this. You buried in me deeply.”
He thrusted deep and hard into you. It boardered on almost hurting but in an incredibly delicious way. This was animalistic and hungry.
“Fuck,” He groaned. “Damn you feel so good.”
You couldn’t speak, you gasped and moaned trying to breathe. “Yes, yes.” You finally managed.
He slowed his pace which made you whimper more, inciting an dark chuckle from him. “I want to enjoy being in what’s mine a little longer.” Damn, how did his words excite you even more? He dragged his lips and tongue up your throat. “Tell me. Did you like me smacking your ass, letting all around know you’re mine?” He growled in your ear.
You moaned in response. He slid in deep, barely any space was between the two of you. “Yes. I love it when you own me.”
“Fucking right.” He kissed you then, the hunger surfacing again.
You wrapped yourself around him as he began moving in you once again. One of his hands left you as he held onto the counter. It did not take long and you were so aroused, that you felt yourself tighten as you grew close.
“Cum, baby.” He urged, a trace of the softer side was underlying the gruffness that came over him.
Your grip tightened and you called out. It was a mixture of a moan and his name. You came hard, making all of you tingle. You rested your head on his shoulder, your body beginning to wilt.
“Look at me, I want to see you.”
His eyes were fierce and managed to uncurl some deeper pleasure in you as he continued to move in you.
“You’re mine. Fucking mine.”
“Yes, yes.” Tears from the pleasure and from the force of how hard he made you come trickled out of your eyes.
Finally he arched against you, making you call out loud. He buried his face into your hair.
Somehow the two of you stayed like that. How long you didn’t know, but you were one as you regained your breaths.
He moved first, one of his large hands cupping your cheek as his thumb brushed away one of your tears.
******
Your legs were wobbly as you found a dress to wear to the race track. You would have never imagined to feel like that. From the apex between your legs and out, you were tingling. He had left you in a delicious sense of pleasure and a strong ache that reminded you he had just been between your legs.
In the back of your mind you knew something must have happened when you were lounging by the pool. What exactly, you didn’t know. Perhaps something bothered him about the job, or how he had to pay his debt. You were comforted by your connection and how good he made you feel. Your dreams didn’t come close.
Having left a note with Chris’s manager, all of you got some prime seating to watch him race in the damn mud. His car and the others tore it up as they sped by. The air was heavy with the scent of mud and gasoline.
If he wasn’t already focusing on talking to Chris about the job potential, having you sitting in his lap watching the race would have been rough. Though he did like the fact that your perfume did cut the sharp, otherwise unpleasant scents. Those scents were better than what he had to smell when locked up.
He drummed his fingers on your hip as he watched how tightly Chris took the turns. He had not lost his touch all these years. Sam may be considering a play of deceit, but he was going to come out of this rich and with you by his fucking side. He squeezed your hip. It made you hop a little where you sat on him. His lips curled into a wider smile.
“Branden!” You squealed and turned to look at him.
He pulled his sunglasses off. “What, baby?” His eyes drifted to you.
“That hurt.”
“Want me to kiss it to make it feel better?” He teased, as his hand drifted down and began to slowly pull up the skirt of your dress.
You wiggled, loving the soft panic spreading across your face. “No!” You looked around. “No, stop!” You wiggled hard.
He didn’t. “What?” He was at your knee. “If I hurt you, I should kiss it better.”
Your hands pushed at his. “Please no, it’s ok.” So he stopped there. He had begun to enjoy once again how you felt on his lap.
“All right, I suppose I can.”
“You are so wicked, Branden.” He pulled back and smirked.
“You love it.”
You whispered in his ear. “I do. That’s why this entire time I imagined blowing you.” You made a sound of protest. “I will have to wait till we are back at my place and you are reclining on my sofa, while enjoying a beer or the rest of the liquor from that bottle we began to polish off.
His stomach churned and he began to feel himself grow hard.
“Hey lovebirds, do either of you want a beer?”
He watched as the suddenness of Sterlo caught you off guard and you shifted and wiggled.
“We’ll take two, Sterlo.” You happily said.
“Great.” Sterlo got up, burped, then chuckled and walked back toward where the beers were being sold.
Branden glanced at the kid, seeing him entranced with the actual race. Then he turned his attention back to you. “You keep teasing me like you are and I may take you to darkened corner so you can.”
Your mouth formed a small O before a demure smile replaced it. “I’ll be good,” You looked from side to side then and leaned in close. “But you can pull me to any darkened corner.”

The 2021-2022 Season
After the whirlwind that has been 2020 and the start of 2021, we’ve gotten to experience what it really means for the arts to endure, despite whatever obstacles might present themselves. Shows that were postponed are returning, and both  student and guest directors have exciting plans! Take a look at what Theatre & Dance has got planned for 2021-2022 – starting with this Friday’s premiere of Anxious People!
Fall 2021
First Year Showcase
Anxious People
Tumblr media
"Headed toward a place of connection." - playwright Carol Y. Lee
Anxious People! by Carol Y. Lee is a brand new play that explores the human condition. What makes us nervous, upset, embarrassed, heartbroken? When can we find these valuable moments of connection that remind us that we are not alone? The First Year Show is a community-driven show, open to all first years regardless of prior experience. Through vignette style writing, this ensemble based show is the perfect opportunity to learn more about theatre on campus, meet new first years with similar interests, and create that connection that will last throughout college.
Friday, September 17th and Saturday September 18th at 7:30 PM | Harvey M. Powers Theatre
check out the promo video for Anxious People made by Ryan Bremer ‘22, along with some thoughts on his inspirations behind the work (Inspirations and Reflections on a Publicity Video, Or: Ryan Talks About Fonts for Way Too Long)

The Taming of the Shrew(s)
By William Shakespeare
Directed and Adapted by Katharine Cognard-Black
September 24-26th Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm Sunday 2pm
Bucknell Hall Free Admission
Taking a fresh look at Shakespeare’s classic but challenging play The Taming of the Shrew, director/adaptor Katharine Cognard-Black ’21 will be exploring three interpretations of select scenes from The Taming of the Shrew(s) and will provide distinct, and sometimes even contradictory ideas, about gender dynamics within the play and in Shakespeare’s work. Cognard-Black’s new adaptation examines and questions the play’s complex depictions of gender and identity within a contemporary context.
“Shakespeare’s plays do not answer questions; they are not definitive about characters, themes, and concepts. Rather, they raise questions that are subject to interpretation of every new century, every director, every reader, and every sensibility.”
Emma Smith, author of This is Shakespeare

The Fall Theatre Mainstage 2021: Two Shows in Rep
Repertory theater, a method of producing theatre from a resident company in alternation or rotation, has been a popular style of offering plays through-out the history of Western theatre. The benefits of companies being able to produce multiple shows ‘in rep’ are many. In commercial theatre, companies can offer increased variety and riskier, more controversial productions when paired with (and subsidized by) plays that have been more popular in the past. The tradition of repertory theatre values a commitment to a more experimental rehearsal style, rich with time for exploration. This style tends to embrace a minimalist approach in small spaces, offering an intimate atmosphere within which audiences can experience plays more viscerally. Attention is also given to the possibility that costumes, props and sets can be interchangeable between productions in creative ways.
At Bucknell, we chose to explore the idea of two plays in-rep because we see the value in experimental projects as well as the rare opportunity for the audience to be up close to the story and the actors. More than that, we saw it as an opportunity for these two plays to be more profoundly in dialogue with each other. As we often enjoy in our theatre courses, the chance to read, compare and contrast two stories is a treat which inspires much conversation and gives us a richer understanding of the subject matter as a whole. In classes, comparing plays seen through the eyes of differently gendered playwrights can be astonishing. In our collaboration, the identities of the playwrights is just the beginning. We seek to compare, contrast and connect these two plays in multiple ways.
Two different families, two different time periods, two totally different settings seemingly having nothing in common - and yet each play is centered on the devastating complexities of race in America. What does it mean when a white family in the early 2000’s is forced to come to terms with a painful past steeped in oppression? What does it mean when a Black family in the mid 1950’s tries to imagine a better future and hurts one another trying to find their way forward? Further, how is the possibility of "family" formation pitched into crisis in the afterlife of slavery?
Do these two families have anything in common? Are they connected? Or are they merely ghosts in each other’s stories, haunting one another with secrets, pain, and the regret of choices never made. Our two plays in-rep: Appropriate by Brandon Jacob Jenkins and Crumbs from the Table of Joy by Lynn Nottage offer our community at Bucknell the chance to experience, question and struggle through the many ways in which all of our stories all intersect.
We are excited to present these two shows, not as separate productions, but as a connected project. Two plays, one stage. Two productions, one weekend. Two casts, one company. Two extraordinary experiences. One sensational program. Join us for the Bucknell Department of Theatre and Dance’s Fall Theatre Mainstage Productions 2021: Crumbs from the Table of Joy and Appropriate. It’s about time we look deeply at the challenging stuff that continues to haunt us, together.
- Anjalee Deshpande Hutchinson in partnership with Jaye Austin Williams

Tustin Studio Theatre     $12 general /$7 students

Grader Bio of the Month: My name is Darren Bongiovanni. I have been a wrestling fan since I was five years old. My family went to see WrestleMania III on Closed-Circuit TV at Nassau Community College in Long Island, New York. I didn’t watch wrestling at the time, so I didn’t care about anything. I cried when Aretha Frankin sang America The Beautiful because it was too loud. But, after being bored for a while, Ricky Steamboat vs. Randy Savage began. I started watching the match and my eyes didn’t leave the screen. From that point on, I was hooked and haven’t looked back since. So, my favorite match of all-time was Steamboat vs. Savage. My favorite wrestlers of all-time are Randy Savage, Ricky Steamboat, Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, & Roddy Piper.
Check out the grades for every match to date in 2020 here!

In Can’t We Talk About Something More Pleasant?, Roz Chast has some advice about hoarding: Don’t hold onto anything you don’t want your kids to have to sort through once you’re gone. For the Lafayette family in Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’s Appropriate, it’s an album stuffed with vintage photos of lynchings from the American south. – David Jays

Top daily fantasy football plays for Week 17 of the NFL season
With Week 17 of the NFL season upon us, we take a look at some of the best values to be found on Draftkings and FanDuel, and some players worth fading.
SB Nation brings you the top Daily Fantasy options each week through the regular season and into the playoffs. This is the most difficult week to break down, with so many star players sitting and so many unknows thrust into big roles. Nevertheless, here are the top value plays of the week, with an eye toward low ownership and high upside.
Quarterback
Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers at Atlanta Falcons ($6,800 DK, $8,400 FD)
Right now, we want players who will deliver four quarters of volume, and nowhere is that more likely than in the Falcons-Panthers game, where playoff berths and seedings are all on the line. Newton disappointed last week in a smash spot against Tampa Bay, but he continued to make a difference as a runner, and the Falcons have been burned by running quarterbacks all season. Newton ran for 86 yards and a touchdown on just nine carries in the first meeting with Atlanta. Newton has 14 rushes in each of the past two weeks.
Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco 49ers at Los Angeles Rams ($6,700 DK, $7,700 FD)
The unstoppable Jimmy G has the Bay Area overflowing with optimism for the 2018 season after knocking off Jacksonville last week for his fourth victory in a row. With each victory, Garoppolo’s DK point total has increased, topping at 23 points against the Jags. Now he gets a Rams team that is calling off the dogs in advance of the playoffs, making Garoppolo a terrific option once again.
Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers ($6,300 DK, $7,800 FD)
No playoffs on the line here, but the Lions are going with their top guns, and that’s great news for Stafford, who gets to take target practice against a decimated Packers secondary that has allowed three passing scores a game over the past month.
Kirk Cousins, Washington at New York Giants ($6,200 DK, $7,600 FD)
This game is all personal for Cousins, who is the top free agent quarterback in the 2017 offseason. This is Cousins’ final tryout for prospective suitors, and the Giants defense is more than willing to lend an assist. Consider, Cousins dropped nearly 24 DK points on a clearly superior Denver defense last week.
Discount Darling: Jacoby Brissett, Indianapolis Colts vs. Houston Texans ($5,500 DK, $6,600 FD)
There are a handful of sub-5K guys getting starts this week (Pat Mahomes, Paxton Lynch, Landry Jones) and none of them hold any appeal for me, especially since most, if not all, of these subs will be missing their primary receivers. Brissett gets a great matchup with all his weapons against a terrible defense at home in a weather-neutral game where points will be scored. Brissett had his second-best fantasy game of the season (23 DK) against the Texans in Week 9. He can easily do it again.
Avoid: Nick Foles, Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys ($6,400 DK, $7,600 FD)
The Eagles are treating this game like a preseason game, with the starters likely not playing more than a half, if that much. There are simply too many viable four-quarter options to make playing Foles even a remotely good idea.
Also consider: Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks; Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints; Tyrod Taylor, Buffalo Bills.
Running back
LeSean McCoy, Buffalo Bills at Miami Dolphins ($8,000 DK, $8,200 FD)
Remember all the preseason talk about the Bills riding McCoy ragged this season? Well, as it turned out, McCoy had 20 carries and five targets in the same game just four times. But one of the four came against Miami two weeks ago, resulting in McCoy’s fourth-highest fantasy total. With a playoff berth on the line, there’s no reason for the Bills not to load up on McCoy. His high-volume opportunity makes him the best high-priced option on the board.
Kenyan Drake, Dolphins vs. Bills ($7,200 DK, $7,000 FD)
The Bills are dead last in points allowed to running backs, and Dion Lewis took full advantage last Sunday. Now, it’s Drake, who has been brilliant almost every week for Miami since Damien Williams got hurt, who gets a shot at ruining Buffalo’s season. Drake had 23 DK points in his first meeting with the Bills.
Derrick Henry, Tennessee Titans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars ($5,500 DK, $5,800 FD)
DeMarco Murray has a torn MCL, and though the team was holding out hope that Murray could miraculously play on Sunday, he was ruled out on Friday. Henry is going to get the bulk of the work against a Jacksonville team that might be resting players throughout the game. Although Henry has stumbled in previous must-play scenarios, he is, without question, a must play.
Jamaal Williams, Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions ($5,200 DK, $6,700 FD)
Williams had his best weeks of the season when Brett Hundley was quarterback. This week, Williams faces the Lions, who are allowing the second-most points to running backs in PPR leagues, which makes him a great draw in DraftKings’ full-point PPR contests. It’s a tough sell, considering the way the Packers’ season has crashed and burned, but the numbers don’t lie.
Discount Darling: Samaje Perine, Washington at New York Giants ($4,400 DK, $6,400 FD)
Perine topped 100 yards just twice this season, but one of those times came against the Giants on Thanksgiving night. He is back to carrying the ball between 14-17 times per game and still gets a handful of pass targets. The Giants allow 100-yard games to running backs pretty much every week, so Perine has a great chance for another big outing.
Avoid: Melvin Gordon, Los Angeles Chargers vs. Oakland Raiders ($7,400 DK, $8,400 FD)
Gordon’s availability is really up in the air right now, as the Chargers have added a running back off the practice squad as insurance in case Gordon’s ankle injury keeps him out of this must-win game. Even in a great spot, it’s too much uncertainty to tolerate with so many cheaper, high-upside backs out there. If Gordon is ruled out, Branden Oliver is a terrific value play at 4K, which could be paired with a high-priced replacement at another position in a late-swap maneuver.
Also consider: Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas Cowboys; Alvin Kamara, New Orleans Saints; Christian McCaffrey, Carolina Panthers.
Wide receiver
Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons vs. Carolina Panthers ($8,200 DK, $8,400 FD)
How disappointing has Jones been this season? He’s only topped 20 DK points four times this season. One of those weeks did come against the Panthers in Week 9, when he caught 6 of 12 targets for 118 yards. If he actually holds onto the 39-yard touchdown pass this time, he will be a DFS hero.
Marquise Goodwin, San Francisco 49ers at Los Angeles Rams ($6,600 DK, $6,900 FD)
Hopefully the recency bias is strong with this one. Goodwin has been Jimmy Garoppolo’s top target in his four games as starting QB, including 25 targets combined in Weeks 14 and 15. But Goodwin predictably struggled last week against Jacksonville. That won’t be an issue this week, with the Rams resting key players. Goodwin is back on track for another big day.
Marvin Jones, Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers ($6,500 DK, $7,300 FD)
The Lions are not resting their starters despite being knocked out of playoff contention. The Packers back end is a sieve. Jones has owned the Packers in his career and dropped a 7-107-2 on them in Week 9. He should have his way one more time at home.
T.Y. Hilton, Indianapolis Colts vs. Houston Texans ($5,900 DK, $6,700 FD)
When Hilton played against the Texans in Houston in Week 9, he put up a 5-175-2 line. Like Goodwin, Hilton is another receiver on the verge of 1,000 yards and there won’t be a lick of defense played in this one. And, as we know, Hilton always plays better at home.
Discount Darling: Josh Doctson, Washington at New York Giants ($4,400 DK, $5,800 FD)
In all honesty, I hate suggesting Doctson for anything other than a sit. I just don’t think he’s very good. When you get targeted 13 times and catch two, as happened last week, that’s not the mark of a great receiver. But, he does have three touchdowns in his past five games, and one of those came against the Giants, who have arguably the worst pass defense on the planet. Kirk Cousins is going to chuck the ball all day, so maybe, just maybe, if Doctson gets 13 targets, he’ll catch more than two of them.
Avoid: Juju Smith-Schuster, Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns ($7,300 DK, $7,300 FD)
We already know Ben, Bell and Brown are not playing. Do we really know for how long Juju is going to be out there? And do we have a lot of confidence in Landry Jones to get him the ball enough to take advantage? Those are two questions that give me enough reason to pass on a player carrying that much salary.
Also consider: Keenan Allen, Los Angeles Chargers; Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals; Jarvis Landry, Miami Dolphins.
Tight end
Jack Doyle, Indianapolis Colts vs. Houston Texans ($4,700 DK, $5,400 FD)
Like Hilton, Doyle had a big week against the Texans in Week 9, with eight catches. Doyle has 12 catches on 18 targets the past two weeks, and there’s little reason to think the volume will subside in a game that won’t feature much defensive resistance.
Eric Ebron, Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers ($4,500 DK, $5,600 FD)
Ebron is arguably the hottest tight end in football right now after his 5-83-1 line last week, his second straight game with a touchdown. His good times should keep right on rolling this week against the decimated Packers.
Antonio Gates, Los Angeles Chargers vs. Oakland Raiders ($4,200 DK, $5,700 FD)
Gates turned back time last week, lighting up the Jets for a 6-81-1 line. He should be the main red-zone focus this week, especially with Melvin Gordon playing hurt. Gates’ salary jumped after his big game last week, but remarkably there are few surer bets at the position.
Charles Clay, Buffalo Bills at Miami Dolphins ($3,700 DK, $5,600 FD)
Clay is back to being Tyrod Taylor’s top receiver, garnering 19 targets over the past two weeks. All he’s missing is a touchdown to make him a top-tier play, but that is a very real possibility in a game the Bills have to have to make the playoffs.
Discount Darling: George Kittle, San Francisco 49ers at Los Angeles Rams ($2,800 DK, $4,600 FD)
Kittle and Jimmy Garoppolo finally connected for a touchdown last week, as Kittle looks to finish his rookie season on a high note. Kittle has had two of his best three games of the season, fantasy-wise in the past two weeks, so he’s trending high, even as his salary remains enticingly low.
Avoid: Zach Ertz, Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys ($6,000 DK, $7,100 FD)
The Eagles are only playing their starters preseason minutes, and that’s too few at too steep a price to justify using Ertz in this spot.
Also consider: Greg Olsen, Carolina Panthers; Jimmy Graham, Seattle Seahawks; Vernon Davis, Washington.
Defense
Minnesota Vikings vs. Chicago Bears ($3,900 DK, $5,400 FD)
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Cleveland Browns ($3,900 DK, $5,400 FD)
Los Angeles Chargers vs. Oakland Raiders ($3,600 DK, $4,900 FD)
New England Patriots vs. New York Jets ($3,500 DK, $5,100 FD)
Discount Darling: Denver Broncos vs. Kansas City Chiefs ($2,900 DK, $4,500 FD)

Brother’s Keeper
Part 11
Summary: What should reader do?
You began to drink the moment the door closed behind Sam and Mark. You grabbed a bottle, walking out to Branden’s balcony you twisted the cap off and began. The liquid churned with what already in your stomach from before.
Inwardly you were scared to death. You had never seen this side of Sam. You had heard stories but never had he been scary with you. You grew worried for Branden. You were certain now that he was setting him up. Grab the goods then just get him locked up. But why? What would that achieve?
You drank more. Could you even tell Branden? You finished the bottle, feeling fuzzy you went put the bottle down. It jangled and banged against the floor as you tried to put it down, finally letting it go. You watched it roll, till rolled off the balcony. “Ops.” You giggled.
You crept out of Branden’s room. Going to The kitchen you searched the cupboards till you found another bottle. Once you back on the balcony, you drank half of the bottle. You were feeling good, fuzzy.
Getting up, you hopped up onto the railing. Idly you looked down, it was a high fall. You swung your legs. Felt good. The breeze was refreshing and cool.
With a bit of a jangle, you put the bottle beside of you. You wanted to save some for Branden. He probably needed a drink after his meeting.
Your heart began to beat harder, the more you thought of him. How he could loom over you. His large hands that you wanted roaming over your body again. You happily swung your legs.
The whole world shifted as you slipped a little, immediately you grabbed onto the railing till your knuckles were white. A fresh sense of unease filled you. What had you been thinking, you hopped down back into the safety of the balcony.
You were just enjoying the liquor had done, for the briefest of moments you were feeling no fear and able to push off the fear Sam created in you. Turning, you looked out to the ocean and watched as the waves crashed onto the beach.
As you stood there, your mood shifted. Tonight was certainly filled with ups and downs. All you had really wanted to do was sleep and wait for Branden to return. Now all you wanted was for you and him to desperately to run away.
Behind you, turning your head you heard the obscured voices of Branden and Sterlo, but then there was screechy voice too. You rolled your eyes, you made a face and looked back at the ocean. “Glad I don’t have to deal with her.” You giggled lightly.
The sliding door opened and closed like a whisper. Moments later you felt his warmth as his hands settled on either side of you.
“Hi baby.” He said moments later.
Turning your head you looked up at him. “Hello.” You giggled. Something about this you liked a lot.
A smile spread under his rusty growth. “What’s got you giggly?”
Seeing the twinkle in his eyes, you decided to push away what happened with Sam. You didn’t want him to be on further edge and possibly fuck up, you’d keep Sam at bay. You could do it.
“Being so small compared to you.” You smiled.
“Oh, baby?” He moved closer, it made you squeal.
“Branden ” You breathed.
“You drove me to distraction.”
You blushed. “Who me? How did I do that?” You fluttered your lashes.
He moved incredibly fast, he easily he turned you till you found yourself facing him. “You know what you did.”
“Did I get this beating?” You reached up and placed a hand over his heart. You could feel its steady beat and it made you happy.
“You did.” You felt as he looked you up and down. “Are you ok, baby?”
A sliver of pain went through your heart. “Yes. How can I not be? I am so glad that you’re back.”
He grabbed you and placed you onto of the railing. “I’m not so sure.” He held you in place.
You whimpered. Inwardly you trembled. You didn’t want him to be made at you. “Branden, I don’t like being up here.” You shifted a little where you sat.
“What’s the matter?”
“Nothin…”
“Stop lying.” His mouth tightened, you hated lying to him. You hated seeing him like this.
Your heart lurched. You really thought you could save him from this worry. “Nothing.” You barely said when he grabbed you.
His face was close to yours, you could feel his breath. “Stop fucking lying to me.”
Your eyes welled up. “I’m not.”
He shook you.
You whimpered. “Branden stop you’re scaring me.” A few tears escaped.
“Don’t make me repeat myself.”
You took a shaky breath. “How did you know?”
“I can just tell.” His jaw took an edge.
“I’m sorry.” You searched his eyes. The look in them made you ill. “Shortly after I was here and you were gone, Sam had his man drag me out of your room.”
“He came here? What the fuck.” His voice was practically a growl.
“He has assumed I’d sell you out.” His jaw tightened. Branden, had let you go and you slipped directly in front of him. There was barely any space between the two of you. “Listen like you said when this is all over you can handle him.”
“I will.”
You wrapped your arms around him, nestled close. “I was so scared.”
After what felt like forever, you finally felt his arms wrap around you.
You took a shaky deep breath. “Branden?” You looked up at him. “I didn’t want to keep it from you, I just..I just didn’t want you to have something else to worry about.”
“From now on, let me choose what I shall worry about.”
“Ok.” You whispered.

From Utah, Secretive Help for a Russian Oligarch and His Jet
Leonid Mikhelson, Russia’s richest oligarch, used Bank of Utah as a stand-in so he could register his Gulfstream jet in the United States, which requires citizenship or residency. Sergey Chervotkin
SALT LAKE CITY — Bank of Utah has that all-American feel. Founded in the 1950s by a veteran of both world wars, it offers affordable mortgages and savings accounts, sponsors children’s festivals and collects coats for the poor.
But in addition to its mom-and-pop customers, the bank has a lesser-known clientele that includes Russia’s richest oligarch, Leonid Mikhelson, an ally of the country’s president, Vladimir V. Putin. The bank served as a stand-in so Mr. Mikhelson could secretly register a private jet in the United States, which requires American citizenship or residency.
The work on behalf of Mr. Mikhelson, whose gas company is under United States sanctions, is part of a discreet niche business for Bank of Utah that allows wealthy foreigners to legally obtain American registrations for their aircraft while shielding their identities from public view. The bank does this through trust accounts, in its own name, that take the place of owners on plane registration records.
Bank of Utah manages more than 1,390 aircraft trust accounts, most of them for foreigners, generating millions of dollars in fees and making it the second-largest holder of such accounts in the country. A trove of records leaked from an offshore law firm, Appleby, shows that the services offered by Bank of Utah, Wells Fargo and other American companies were sought after by rich jet owners in Russia, Africa and the Middle East.
The files were obtained by a German newspaper, Süddeutsche Zeitung, which shared them with the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists and other news organizations, including The New York Times. Among other things, the records reveal how Appleby often packaged trust arrangements with a tax avoidance scheme on the Isle of Man, a British crown dependency that serves as a haven for aircraft owners to sidestep taxes in the European Union. Together, businesses like Bank of Utah and Appleby provide a suite of money-saving tricks for the wealthy elite around the world.
Members of Congress and federal auditors have grown increasingly concerned that the opaque aircraft trust arrangements, which are not closely tracked by the Federal Aviation Administration, could allow terrorists and criminals a back door for evading sanctions, intelligence officials or law enforcement. Some 10,000 private planes are registered in the United States to noncitizen trusts.
The Isle of Man advertises itself as a haven for aircraft owners to sidestep taxes in the European Union. Appleby and other offshore firms have offices there.
“There are serious national security risks when the F.A.A. approves an aircraft registration but does not have all the information, particularly if an aircraft is owned by a shell corporation or a foreign entity,” Representative Stephen F. Lynch, a Massachusetts Democrat, said when he introduced legislation in July that would require the F.A.A. to obtain and regularly update records on the ultimate owners behind aircraft trusts.
An inspector general report in 2013 found that more than half of noncitizen trusts registered with the F.A.A. “lacked important information such as the identity of the trusts’ owners and aircraft operators.” As a result, the report said, the agency “has been unable to provide information on these aircraft to foreign authorities upon request when U.S. registered aircraft are involved in accidents or incidents.”
Another inspector general report, in 2014, cited specific cases that it said demonstrated the potential for national-security or legal problems. Among them was an episode in which an unnamed American bank had to cancel an aircraft trust after learning that its beneficiary, a Lebanese politician, had ties to a terrorist group. Another involved a jet registered to Wells Fargo that made an unscheduled landing in Libya in 2011 just as a no-fly zone was imposed by the United Nations.
In 2014, a plane registered to Bank of Utah was spotted at an airport in Iran, raising questions about whether its presence violated American sanctions.
And three years ago, a plane registered to Bank of Utah was spotted at an airport in Iran, raising questions about whether its presence violated American sanctions at the time. The bank told reporters it had “no idea” why the plane was there, and would not reveal who owned it; the Bombardier jet turned out to be owned by a Ghanaian company and had no Americans aboard.
That episode led to some soul-searching for Bank of Utah officials. In a recent interview at the bank’s corporate trust offices in Salt Lake City, Branden Hansen, the chief financial officer, said that the reputational risk of the trusts prompted the bank to consider whether “to shut this whole thing down.”
Ultimately the bank decided to continue the service, but with stronger due diligence and new staff to oversee it. Jon Croasmun, a trust officer who joined the bank last year, said that “knowing who the owners are is important,” adding that the bank searches public records, seeks passports and takes other steps to ensure it knows the background of aircraft owners.
Still, the Bank of Utah executives were surprised to learn that they had aided Mr. Mikhelson, the Russian oligarch. When told the name of the offshore shell company that Mr. Mikhelson used to manage his Gulfstream jet, Mr. Croasmun interrupted the interview to check the bank’s files. He confirmed that the shell company had been a client since 2013 — but information identifying Mr. Mikhelson as the man behind it “was nowhere that I saw in the files.”
“His name is not in there,” Mr. Croasmun said.
Appleby’s offices in Hamilton, Bermuda. Leaked documents from the firm show that the services offered by Bank of Utah, Wells Fargo and other American companies were sought after by rich jet owners around the world.
Appleby, based in Bermuda, is one of the world’s largest offshore law firms. Its files offer a rare inside look at more than a dozen aircraft trusts structured by American financial institutions for privacy-seeking plane owners, primarily foreigners who otherwise would not be allowed to register with the F.A.A. There is a premium on American registration because it increases a plane’s resale value, the bureaucratic requirements are less costly and complex, and it is believed to draw less scrutiny as the aircraft moves around the world.
Among the plane owners seeking Appleby’s services were Shaher Abdulhak, a Yemeni businessman worth an estimated $9 billion whose investments included a Coca-Cola distributor in the Middle East; UPL, an Indian producer of industrial chemicals and pesticides; and Rashid Sardarov, a Russian oil billionaire and longtime client of Mossack Fonseca, the law firm whose leaked records in 2015 became known as the Panama Papers.
In serving these clients, files show, Appleby dealt with the two banks that are the most prolific creators of American aircraft trusts: Wells Fargo and Bank of Utah. It is easy to see how Wells Fargo, the third-largest bank in the United States, with nearly $2 trillion in assets and offices in 42 countries, might find a lucrative niche catering to the wealthy elite. Less obvious is how Bank of Utah, with 18 branches confined to one state, took the same path.
As it happens, a group of former Wells Fargo trust officers joined Bank of Utah about 10 years ago and created what would become a profitable part of the bank’s business. The bank collected $8.8 million in trust fees in 2016 — an increase of $1.1 million from the previous year, according to its most recent annual report.
Mr. Croasmun and Mr. Hansen took issue with the suggestion that they were exploiting a loophole to bypass restrictions on foreigners registering aircraft in the United States. By filling the role of “U.S. citizen” for registration purposes, the bank provided a valuable service for, say, multinational companies whose top executives might not be American, they said. The bank is clearly sensitive to concerns raised about the trusts. Its website carries a statement distancing itself from the planes it registers in its name, noting its only role is that of trustee.
In the case of Mr. Mikhelson, the trail leading from Russia to Utah began in September 2012, with an email to Appleby from the Moscow office of the accounting firm Ernst & Young. The firm wanted Appleby to set up a complex corporate structure for an unnamed client to purchase a Gulfstream jet, valued at roughly $65 million, and retain possession of it through a chain of companies in six countries.
From the outset, the goal was clear: “This structure,” wrote Svetlana Yakushina of Ernst & Young, “should allow registering the aircraft with the aviation authorities of the United States.”
The arrangement would also permit the owner to avoid certain taxes, most notably a value-added tax of 20 percent if the jet were registered and used in the European Union. A six-page memo prepared by Ernst & Young laid out a plan to exploit a tax loophole offered by the Isle of Man, where about 1,000 privately owned aircraft are recorded on a government registry for tax purposes. Appleby and other similar firms maintain offices there.
The Isle of Man allows owners to escape the value-added tax, or VAT, through a paper-shuffling scheme, wherein the jet is held by a company based there but leased to another company elsewhere, both controlled by the same owner. The tax is technically deferred into the future, through use of a special account managed by Ernst & Young, and then canceled out by the corporate structure. Research by the investigative journalists consortium suggests that Isle of Man-registered aircraft have escaped more than $1 billion in taxes.
According to a flow chart created by Appleby’s Isle of Man office for the Mikhelson account, the ownership chain for his jet began in Panama, with a company called Golden Star Aviation, which registered on the Isle of Man and then leased the aircraft to a Cayman Islands company called SWGI Growth Fund. Both companies were controlled by Mr. Mikhelson.
Mr. Mikhelson declined to answer questions about his plane. His representative released a statement saying, “Mr. Mikhelson acts strictly within the boundaries of the law and in compliance with applicable legislation at all times.”
By June 2013, lawyers at Appleby still had not learned of Mr. Mikhelson’s role, other than being told that the Gulfstream’s owner was Russian. Once the lawyers were informed of his identity by a Swiss firm that manages Mr. Mikhelson’s finances, they conducted a background check and concluded that, as with other clients from Russia, where the political and legal environment can be unstable, working for him would be “high risk.” But they decided to proceed.
Mr. Mikhelson with President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia in 2013, at a news conference for the gas-processing company Sibur. Mr. Mikhelson’s energy company, Novatek, and his business partner in Sibur became subject to American sanctions the next year.
A due-diligence report by Appleby noted Mr. Mikhelson’s source of wealth — valued currently at about $18 billion — from oil and gas investments, notably through Novatek, Russia’s largest nongovernment-owned gas company. Mr. Mikhelson’s main business partner is Gennady Timchenko, a close friend of Mr. Putin’s. The two businessmen are the primary investors in Sibur, a Russian gas-processing company.
Included in the report was a list of questions to determine if Mr. Mikhelson had any connections to the United States, including whether he had assets or maintained an address there. The answer to all of them was “no.” Flight records show that the plane has rarely, if ever, flown to the United States and instead makes trips within Russia or occasionally to cities in Europe and China.
Despite its lack of a connection to the United States, Mr. Mikhelson’s private jet was soon on its way to securing a registration with the F.A.A., thanks to Bank of Utah.
It is not clear if the bank was ever told, or inquired, about the identity of the owner of the aircraft. Mr. Croasmun said that files indicated the owner “was Russian” but that identifying details were missing.
Whatever the case, the trust agreement for Mr. Mikhelson’s Gulfstream, filed with the F.A.A., does not name him anywhere in the document. Instead, the owner is listed as Golden Star Aviation, the Panamanian company he used to buy the plane. Attached to it is an “affidavit of citizenship” signed by a bank officer, Brett King, attesting that the trustee — Bank of Utah — is a “citizen of the United States.”
Bank of Utah’s offices in Ogden. The company manages more than 1,390 aircraft trust accounts, most of them for foreigners.
Appleby’s conclusion that doing business with Mr. Mikhelson would be “high risk” began to look prescient by July 2014. That is when Washington hit a number of Russian individuals and companies with economic sanctions in response to Russian intervention in Ukraine.
Among those named by the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Contro were Novatek, Mr. Mikhelson’s gas company, and Mr. Timchenko, his partner in other ventures. Mr. Mikhelson himself was not included in the sanctions, which tightly restricted Novatek’s access to American capital markets.
Almost immediately, lawyers at Appleby flagged the Novatek sanctions and began emailing one another, one of them seeking advice on “how this affects the structures that we manage.” Within a week, Appleby had sent a message to Mr. Mikhelson’s aide Igor Ryaskov explaining that the law firm was concerned about Mr. Mikhelson’s connections to a company subject to sanctions.
“Due to the ongoing issues and increased risk, it is with regret that I must advise that we will be looking to cease services in respect of these structures,” the note said.
Mr. Ryaskov protested, saying that Mr. Mikhelson was not on the sanctions list. Still, Appleby held fast, and referred Mr. Ryaskov to other firms; by 2015, Mikhelson’s aircraft account had been transferred to Fedelta Trust Limited, a financial services firm on the Isle of Man. Mr. Ryaskov did not respond to a request for comment.
As for Bank of Utah, it filed a registration renewal application with the F.A.A. in July last year, indicating that its trusteeship for the aircraft remained unchanged. During the recent interview, the bank executives suggested that Mr. Mikhelson’s case escaped scrutiny during an earlier period when their internal review process was less rigorous, and they vowed to review it.
“Russian involvement would score as a high risk by itself,” Mr. Hansen said. “It’s highly unlikely that something like this would have been approved in today’s climate.”
