Yes, Bubby from Half-Life VR But The AI Is Self-Aware (aka HLVRAI) could kill Macbeth!

There are a couple of layers to analyze here, but he still qualifies regardless of which one you look at:

You could look at this from the angle that he is canonically an NPC inside a video game, and was therefore coded instead of born by an unknown party. This angle applies him for the Unconventional Birth Clause while leaving BPC completely ambiguous.

You could also look at this through the lens of the in-universe game's story, in which Bubby was a science experiment grown in a tube by Black Mesa, which is directly confirmed through the encounters with his "prototypes"- previous attempts to create the "Ultimate Life Form." As HLVRAI takes place in Half-Life 1, there have not yet been introduced any female scientists working at Black Mesa (later installments of the Half-Life series introduced female characters that worked at Black Mesa, but none appear or are mentioned in HLVRAI), so this angle makes the Birth Parent Clause much more plausible while still firmly applying Bubby for the Unconventional Birth Clause.

i don't remember if it was ever stated in the LRA fic, but what is/was Sun & Moons relationship?

like, is it brotherly? were they lovers before the virus? it is platonic? or something else entirely?

Oh, I’m really glad you asked! It’s never been outright explicitly talked about in the fic (like a sit-down ‘what are they to each other’), but I will explicitly state here it’s not a brotherly relationship. Companions-yes, but brothers-no. I’m actually so excited to talk about this topic, but I’ll hold off on a deep explanation since it’ll be explored a bit more in chapter 19 and beyond.

But I can say that though Sun and Moon weren’t in a defined relationship before the virus, they were special to each other—basically “You are the most important person in my life. I am yours and you are mine”. Lots of fledgling feelings that they never had the time to explore, but needing and wanting the companionship of each other—the soul-deep desire to listen for hours as the other talked and the need to share every detail of their entire day with the other and wanting so badly to hold each other and not being able to, but sitting as close as possible to each other in their mindspace being enough for the moment.

In the old version of the plot for this au, it had a lot to do with it being a game and such. However over the years it's changed! No longer a game, instead the Rescas explosion seemed to have had a .. strange affect on Gordon, due to him being right next to it. At least, that's what they all believe at first.
