I personally ship crocobug when (or rather if, but at this point canon is a suggestion at most) it's become less toxic, crocodile has not only apologized but established boundaries on buggy's behalf - as in like, what he'll never do - and they've started bonding over nerd stuff

like physics and chemistry!! because crocodile is 100% the type of person to believe that you're stupid if you haven't read up on the physical/chemical attributes of your logia and buggy is literally making bombs, like, all the time.

Dude I just had a vision. Jay, local bug nerd, teaching Kai, local I fucking hate bugs guy, helping Kai with his fear of bugs.

Maybe they’re our training and suddenly Jay finds a firefly struggling on the ground (maybe they accidentally hit it?) and he goes to gently pick it up and Kai’s like “ew ew we please don’t get near me with that thing” - cue to Jay softly helping Kai get over his fear by having him hold the firefly in his hands and stuff. Eventually the firefly recovers and flies away or some shit but yes.

Even better if Kai remembered these moments when he’s going agaisnt his fuckass centipede great grandfather or smth

YEAGHHHHGGHHH….. buggy plasma i love you. and Btw i like to think the real reason kai is scared of bugs to begin with is actually jay being a little shit when they were younger and chasing him around with all kinds of insects. yeah he threw a beetle at him and called it exposure therapy. But then fast forward he has a change of heart or whatevevrrervrrrr . He has matured❤️❤️❤️ they have their little bonding moment. jay’s like ‘omg why are u so scared lol’ like HE wasn’t the reason kai had to develop bug-specific coping mechanisms . kai’s like 😳 gee maybe bugs aren’t so bad?? and jay’s like wow i’m such a good teacher <33333 as if this isn’t literally just damage control. They hold the firefly AND each others hands it’s super romantic everyone cheers in the background

HOLY SHIT YOU DID IT THEY LOOK SO GOOD ‼️‼️

for your post about submitting animals—i've got three!

1) bearded vultures!! they've got white irises and blood red (literally) sclera, stain their naturally-white feathers with the reddest dirt they can find to assert their dominance, and their diet is 90% bone!! they're frequently compared to dragons

2) shoebill storks! in a similar vein to the bearded vulture, theyre big cute birds that are often compared to dinosaurs (their species name is literally B. rex.) don't have as many fun facts about these guys other than that they can make a sound that sounds like a machine gun, and also that a disproportionate amount of their fans seem to be lesbians (myself included.)

3) bombardier beetles!! super fun beetles that shoot boiling hot acid out of their abdomens! if i remember correctly, they sneak into anthills and feast on the ants living there. wickedly cool bugs. and so cute!!

i could be wrong about these not having been done before, but i'm pretty sure they're untouched. hope you like these! :D

I saw Sky: COTL for free on the Switch! Would you recommend it?

Well…yes and no… Plus, I don’t know if it’s a game that you in particular would like, at least from what I know about you. I’m going to list the pros and cons.

Sky is an online multiplayer adventure game that focuses on making friends and and compassion.

Pros:

- It is a good escape. It has very relaxing music and beautiful places to explore.

- It has individuality. You can dress your character in a wide variety of outfits.

- You are not forced to talk to every player you meet. You have to either build up your friendship with them or sit with them at a place where you can see their chat (I personally like this because I am introverted and socially inept.) The more you build your friendship with someone, the more stuff you can do with them.

- The story is beautiful, especially the ending.

- You have the ability to fly.

- There are tons and tons of emotes to communicate with, which is always fun.

- There are always seasons and events going on, so there’s always something new.

- You have a place to call your own that you can decorate (but you have to buy the props first.)

- It is very LGBTQ+ friendly.

Cons:

- Over the years, the game has gotten tremendously buggy and the Devs tend to focus more on constantly adding new things to the game rather than polishing it now.

- The currency system. If you want to buy things, be prepared to spend A LOT! Most items are way overpriced and are only available for limited times. This wouldn’t be an issue if it weren’t for the fact that you can only collect 20 candles and day, and it takes about 1-2 hours on average to do it. This is unfortunately what most players, especially younger ones, spend most of their time doing in the game. This is one of the 3 major reasons why people quit the game.

- There are over 100 In App Purchases in the game now. They are also getting more and more expensive. Only get the ones you want. Don’t feel pressured to catch up with the veterans.

- The lore is kind of non-existent. It’s there, but you have to kind of write it for yourself.

- Most items in the game either will never come back or are only around for a limited time and take forever to come back. This is especially since more and more spirits (the holders of cosmetics) are being added to the game, and you are less likely to get the spirit you want to come back.

- Some people don’t like the controls and it doesn’t perform as well on certain platforms (like the Switch, but I’m not a FPS nerd.)

In the end, I play Sky because of the (potential) lore and because its a beautiful world to escape to. I don’t really focus on the stuff you buy anymore, which is partly what’s destroying this game (in my opinion.) I’ve played this game for 4 years, and it really hurts to see it go from a beautiful escapism game to an overwhelming cash-grab.

Turns out his castle is a refuge for all kinds of animals. He's taking care of injured or abandoned beings of all sort.

Let's be honest, his personality has a lot of a feral cat as well. You find the similarities hilarious, while he still can't see it.

One time you walked in on him petting it - one of the rare occasions you ever saw him smile.

Loves when the cat sits on his lap while he's in his armchair by the fire, sipping on a glass of wine. An adorable image, and his favourite kind of self-care.

It will rub itself against his beard all the time. Who can blame it?

Needs at least one new outfit a week since the cat will always wreck the feather of his hat or scratch his leather clothes.

Talks to it with a way higher voice than usually, and yes, he does babytalk.

This man is like a Disney Princess. Just gives off a vibe that makes an animal automatically love him.

Is pretty chill about standard annoying cat behavior. This pet will be misbehaving a lot since he just takes everything with a smile. Can't really be mad at all.

It will probably have a standard seat on his shoulder and loves hiding under his cape.

Always buys snacks when he's on land and even shares his meal with it.

Talks about the cat as if it's an actual person, and talks a lot. Literally his new bestie, you're almost jealous.

This animal has seen some shit. He'll definetly not go anywhere without it and do some weird party tricks when drunk.

Would protect it with his life, certainly.

Poor guy is actually a lil' bit allergic, but endures for your and it's sake.

Will have a full blown rant about how cats are ungrateful and illoyal little shits.

Isn't actually an animal person in general. Especially cats and dogs are a little too fascinated with his nose for his liking - it looks like a toy, after all.

It follows him around despite his best efforts not to. He gets used to it quickly however and starts talking to it. It helps him get his thoughts in order, actually.

Lets you keep it in the end because this man just can't say no to any of your wishes. Won't admit it though, probably says it's because they're useful to catch mice on the ship or something.

Throws a tantrum at least once a day, especially when the cat got anywhere near his maps.

Unsuccessfully tries to teach it any tricks for them to participate in the circus.

Is often caught juggling for it and acts like the cat just happened to be there while he was practicing.

It's an open secret that he adores this animal. It's also the only one allowed to sit on his throne besides him.

It takes everything in this man to not drop the facade.

Wants to keep it so badly but hesistantly talks about hygiene and how the cat's presence may negatively affect Kaya's health.

He's actually the most skilled when it comes to properly train those stubborn creatures.

Anyways, he still will get scratched and hissed at. It breaks his heart.

Indulges it as good as he can. Only the best food, it's own room in the mansion and always new toys.

Always nerds out some biological or historical facts about those animals.

Loves to absentmindedly stroke it's fur whenever it sits on his lap. Looks like a Bond villain when doing so.

Thanks for asking!❤️I'm glad you're enjoying the fic -- it makes me smile to know other people like my self-indulgent fluff stuff.

The Cadet Batch's interactions with each other and the adult vode are some of my favorite things in the fic! A large portion of the bitty batcher's conversations have spent months in a jumbled together draft, because I've been jotting down the ideas for quite a while. Most of the banter and nonsense are either inspired by conversations I've overheard or directly pulled from my own interactions with my younger siblings. For example, this part in Chapter 23...

“If we find them, do we get to keep them?” Comet asked. It was a jest, obviously, but Wolffe detected a tiny little bit of hope in the soldier’s eyes, too.  “No,” Echo said flatly.

...is literally just a transcription of what my munchkinest sibling said in Belk one day when I was pushing her in the buggy and we were looking for our mom and another sister in a different department. Her cute little three-year-old self asked, "If I find them, do I get to keep them?" and like four people nearby started laughing.

She has so many of the cutest comebacks and random statements. She stole my other (younger) sister's goldfish one time and the other sister declared it to the world. Baby sister then looked panicked and said "No, No, No -- I don't wanna go to jail!"

Other sister: "Why not?"

Baby sister: "Uh, because I doesn't!" Like duh!

(I was probably just overcaffed that day, but it tickled me to death. Said baby sister is also known for her ability to overcome any attempts at babyproofing the house, so that might have played into the Batchers' escape artistry.)

I'm also sticking to the chaos of my The Tales of the Bad Batch series when I write the little batchers' lines, because they really are just tiny versions of the Batch we know and love. I try to make sure that Crosshair is still snarky, Wrecker is still a loveable teddy bear that's also tough as nails, Tech is still a little nerd, and Hunter is just barely on the near side of the responsible-but-also-a-chaos-gremlin equation.

The little Batch is just so adorable and I love writing them so much. It's kind of like "what would Hunter say in this situation if he had absolutely no filter?" and letting the words flow from there. Also, Echo gets to chase his four energetic baby siblings around and try to keep them out of trouble, so that's fun (for us, and a little bit for him, too).

On a separate note, I'm trying really hard to get the baby batchers' dialogue and characters right because even once the fic is over, they're not going away. I won't say anything about it yet because it would spoil the ending😫but my sister and I have been talking about a spin-off series that takes place after the epilogue of Echo and the Cadet Batch. The Hondo and the Cadet Batch spinoff is still happening, but this new one will take place in the original fic's timeline and will include some other tiny clones along the way. 😁🥰

[One piece punk band AU/modern AU] Part 1, Part 2

Characters: Ace, Bartolomeo, Franky, Buggy, Law

Barto's the guitarist, Ace is the bassist, Franky plays the drums and Buggy shrieks sings

They stick together because of their contract but they fight a lot, threatening to leave the band every other day.

You're the band's personal assistant and every time your phone rings you regret all your life choices.

Ace looks calm and composed but he's the wildest one when it comes to partying and getting wasted. His pockets are always full of not-so-legal stuff.

He was dumped ages ago but never got over it. The fans fall for his sad boi soft smile.

Bartolomeo is the most skilled musician out of them all, he studied music and is a huge music nerd who's gonna charm/bore people with endless lists of niche groups and genres.

When he talks about his nana and his tattoos, everyone goes feral over how cute he is.

Buggy is all over the gossip pages either for being a prima donna or destroying something (it was Ace). He loves the attention and free clothing.

Some days he's cold when meeting fans: he knows he's not pretty nor talented, why would these people care? They just like his fame.

He texts you at 4am, asking to add random things to the band's expenses reports. He's actually trying to confess he likes you but chickens out every time.

Franky doesn't care about fame and drama he's just in for the chaos. Videos of him shouting "super" are a viral meme on tiktok.

He met Nico Robin on tour and married her on a whim. The two of them ranked #3 on a famous "weird-but-cute" celeb couples poll.

Towards the end of this chapter, Mihawk says a prayer:

"Veni veni o Oriens, solare nos adveniens, noctis depelle nebulas...dirasque mortis tenebras."

These words come from the hymn Veni Veni Emmanuel. This hymn was actually sung for Advent in the days before Christmas. The song as it is known in modern times most likely comes from 15th century France. However, the Latin words Mihawk says come from something much older. They are a paraphrase of the O Antiphons that were recited during Vespers for Advent in monastaries, which are dated to at least 6th century Italy. The most common translation I could find is from 1851, and is this:

O come, Thou Dayspring from on high, and cheer us by thy drawing nigh; disperse the gloomy clouds of night and death's dark shadow put to flight

The words kinda matched what's been happening in the story. The version of the song that inspired the scene with the Christmas tree sounds very haunting and medieval, reflecting Mihawk's gothic motif:

Veni Veni Emmanuel

So it all just came together perfectly.

I posted chapter 4 of my fic. That one made me cry a little bit, lol. But I love getting into Mihawk's head like that.

The ending song in that chapter is Let It Be. I think everyone should hear that song at least once.
