SCORBUS and STIMS

I Have many, many thoughts about all of my favourite characters and how they stim. Cursed Child, thank god, actually has representation of the way the two main leads stim. This post will be me discussing that and expanding upon it.

Scorpius Malfoy: Alot of depictions of the play portray him being a very avid stimmer. He jumps around and flaps his hands and, iirc, in one of the plays I watched, he rocked back and forward while sitting legs in a basket. He stims when he's excited, worked up, or getting really into something. I have this scenario in my head where Scorpius is complimented on his Potion in class, and begins flapping his hands because he happy. This boy hasn't masked a day in his life, he never needed to, I've mentioned before he grew up with nobody informing him on social cues because he stayed in the Manor with his parents all day. So he doesn't feel the need to try hide his stims despite it likely being a source of ridicule for some students to use against him. Anyway! I imagine he'd also stim by going on his tip toes. Anything that has him bouncing and not sitting still for too long. Also vocal stims, like squeaking and screeching and maybe even his little Wizzos.

Albus Severus Potter: In the play, majority of the adaptions I've seen atleast, Albus is very fidgety. He twiddles his fingers or scrunches the fabric of his robe in his hand, he does this when he's shy or nervous or feeling awkward. It's also been said that they designed Albus's wand to have Cherry blossom buds coming out the handle, which he uses to soothe himself likely by rubbing his thumb back and forward on the nub.... So I've always imagined him as a self soother/texture stimmer. He stims when he needs to calm down, he has textures that help him, such as wood, fabrics, and a personal headcanon is the feeling of a rock/crystal. Anything bumpy, he will stim with. However for happy stims, I think he'd be much calmer than Scorpius, and be more of a bouncing on your tiptoes stimmer or a shaking the person closest to you stimmer. Both are fairly common stims, so he doesn't stand out how Scorpius does when he's hopping in circles and "squeaking" with excitement.

Um yeah that's the post... I just wanted to talk about this because again, its something I always think about when I become attached to a character. Yep!

What i can share from my own experience is that getting off seems to be like a video game where you have to hit a certain amount of combos in a certain order to get to the o. Headcanons: 10th Doctor x Autistic!Reader with a Special Interest in Dinosaurs

Anon’s request: “Hi if its no trouble, could you do headcanons for the tenth doctor x an autistic reader whose special interest is dinosaurs? Tysm, I love your work!!”

A/N: Sorry for the horrifically long delay! ^^; If the anon who requested it is still around, I hope you enjoy it.

The reader here is gender-neutral.

Needless to say, the Doctor’s happy to talk about dinosaurs with you – and potentially show them to you, too!

He likes having something to talk about that you can fully understand and keep up with him on – doubly so that it's something as cool as dinosaurs. He enjoys when you get excited and infodump about them.

Considering how much humans’ understanding of dinosaurs can evolve and change over time, you’ll likely have some beliefs about them that will later turn out to not quite be true, or some gaps in your knowledge in general.

The Doctor is sure to let you know when this is the case, to the point that, soon enough, you know more about them than any specialist back at home!

The TARDIS most likely already has books about dinosaurs in its library – ones from way ahead of your time, at that – so you can read up on them as much as you want.

You room on the TARDIS has some dinosaur figurines and plushies. Althogether, they cover any textile sensory stims you might have - the plushies are soft and nice to squish, while the figures have varying textures, ranging from scaly, to bumpy, to smooth.

As mentioned, he’ll definitely take you to see them in person – he asks you what your favourite dinosaur is, and takes you to see it, specifically, first. He parks the TARDIS in a spot that’s fairly out of the way, but has a good view.

Since there wouldn’t be many options to help yourselves if you got stranded there for any reason, he takes some precautions to ensure that it doesn’t happen. There’s absolutely no way, whatsoever, that anything could go wrong…

…yet, knowing your luck, a bigger adventure likely ends up happening, anyway. While it is more overwhelming to be stuck there, rather than having control over the situation, you otherwise feel safe enough with the Doctor – you know he’ll get you home somehow.

Thankfully, the TARDIS didn’t get eaten by a T-Rex before you both made it back!

Despite whatever struggles you may or may not endure, being able to wander through a world full of dinosaurs ends up being your favourite adventure with the Doctor by far.

You definitely wouldn’t like riddle at first, and oddly enough not because he’s obnoxiously loud, it’s because he was accidentally a huge butt hole,

You see as riddle is the house warden he would have looked over the files of the new students entering his dorm and seen you IEP or 504 plan and have known that you had autism…BUT as there is so much going on and so many new students it’s not unusual that this would slip his mind, so when he first sees you in the dorm garden sitting on the ground flapping your hands and rocking he comes over to put a stop to this “unacceptable behavior” and yells at you for somehow breaking one of the rules, as he yells your stimming only gets faster as he gets more mad, but when he sees tears in your eyes as you cover your ears and continue to rock back and forth he realizes he may have miss judged the situation. I assume he would have NO idea how to handle this so he’d probably run off and get tray to help you. After the um… bumpy start you’d be rather nervous when ever he came around but after a while you’d see that he was trying to be better, he’d try and not get frustrated when you need him to repeat or re explain something, and he’d be more lenient when giving you second chances after you accidentally brake the rules, and no matter how mad he is he won’t collar you, he knows from you IEP about you extreme sensory issues and it’s likely the tight collar would send you into a spiral. Over all you end up lurking riddle a lot in the end and come to him when your overwhelmed or when your having a problem with another student (he will for sure collar anyone who makes fun of your autism)

Riddle: “(name)?”

You: “look Riddle the bunny let me hold him!” *very excitedly shows him the bunny in your arms munching on some clovers*

Riddle: “wow (name) he must really trust you to let you hold him, however i believe I had sent you out here over an hour ago to feed the hedgehogs”

Riddle: “I can see that, although I think it’s more you got distracted, how about I accompany you to your task to help you remain on track?”

You: “that would be great thanks!…. can I?-”

You like try, he’s nice! As vice house-warden he also knows about your autism, and he’s amazing at helping you, I feel like his experience with all his siblings would help with that, he somehow always knows how to calm you down, and he keeps little ginger bites he makes with him to give you if you get over whelmed. He’s basically the dorm mom, he’s always got everything on him, earplugs, bandages, stickers, you name it! Trey likes talking to you while he bakes, you remind him of his siblings in a way, Trey gives you little jobs that he knows won’t involve textures that would bother you. The first time you met Trey was when riddle was freaking you out he sent trey over, admittedly trey was more than a little confused on being sent over by Riddle to help a student, riddle usually preferred to handle students on his own however once trey saw you he knew why, first he sat down next to your rocking form and without saying a word offered his hand and after a minute of rocking you shakily took his hand, Trey squeezes your hand three times and then two times and then you do the same, Trey and you repeat that for about five minutes until your rocking comes to a stop, after he’s sure you’ve calmed down he helps lead you inside and into your dorm room, he turns off the lights and closes curtains and makes sure that you’re in an environment that’s not too overwhelming he quickly dismisses himself but tells you to come to him if you ever need to.

You: *staring into the kitchen while Trey is baking*

Trey: “…do you wanna help me?”

You: *nods*

Trey: “you can help me mix ok?”

You: *smiles and excitedly comes next to Trey*

You don’t like cater, he’s loud and scary and loud and he takes pictures with his flash on and it HURTS YOUR EYES. Honestly your relationship with cater didn’t have a very good start, you were standing in the courtyard a few days after the start of school and you were looking at your favorite tree, you liked that tree a lot because it was very big and had good bark but your tree admiring was cut short when you hear cater loudly talking on his live stream about the new students in the dorm, then to your chagrin he spots you and comes rushing over and shoves his camera in you face and says something about introducing yourself, you freeze and stare at his phone like a deer in headlights, finally after what feels like an eternity cater just looks at you and realizes your not gonna say anything so he your so he awkwardly makes a quip and leaves. You stood there frozen for a good three minutes after he left, only moving when a lady bug landed on your nose. So yeahhhhh not a great start-

After that situation Cater started to notice you avoiding him, it was kinda obvious, you think you were sly, you weren’t. Eventually it got weird for him so he decided to talk to Trey about it, as he was complaining about it trey calmly stopped him and informed him of your autism and that you probably weren’t trying to be rude more like you were just avoiding a situation that would overwhelm you. After that Cater would make an effort to be quieter around you and to let you know he didn’t mean freak you out, after that he’s actually pretty good to be around, you guys can yap about music and other special interests together and he is ALWAYS ready to stand up for you, plus he’s great for doing social interactions you don’t want to.

Cater: “(name)Chan! there you are! I was wondering if you’d wanna be in my post for autism awareness month?”

You: “ummmmm could you have the flash off?”

Cater: “of course!:)”

Ace and you knew each other in passing, you were both first yeas in the same dorm after all so you often had chores and classes together. You tended to avoid ace and his general group, you were sure he was nice enough but he had this tendency to loudly get himself into trouble and you had a hard enough time in school already, the first time you two really interacted was when one day Ace happened to be playing attention for once in class when you went up to professor Crewl and asked to take the test in the library instead of the classroom, ace had thought to himself about how it would be funny when Crewl yells at you for the ridiculous request but was shocked when he quietly agreed and you left the room. For the rest of said class he was racking his brain thinking of other times he’s seen you receive “special treatment” things like Riddle going easy on you, teachers extending due dates for you, he even saw professor Trein reading test questions to you once! Ace then decided that he wasn’t going to stand for favoritism! He’s gonna confront you the next chance he gets!

He finds you later as you just about to head to your dorm room for the night. “HAY (NAME)!!” You immediately stop and turn to look at him as he races over “what gives man? You related to Crowley or something?” Ace says as he exasperatedly stops in front of you, “…what?” You had no idea what was happening, Ace goes on to tell you about all the special treatment he sees the staff giving you and how he won’t stand for this hypocrisy when you quietly stop him, you then calmly explain that you have autism and you get accommodations for certain things because of your IEP. You can practically see the smoke coming out of his ears as he tries to process. Since then he hasn’t been different around you, he’s just a little more aware of you, just to keep an eye on you incase anybody tries something.

Ace: “(name) wanna study for the test together?”

You: “i feel like studying with you would make my grades worse”

Ace: “ouch man”

You: “you know it’s true”

lIke Ace Duce and you knew each other in passing, and because of Ace you tent to avoid him as to not get caught up in there shenanigans, you have no problems with him though, from what you could tell he was the calmest of his group and when you had assignments with him he was always polite and determined. Now the first time you two really had a conversation was after one morning in the dorm when he saw you taking pills in the bathroom, Due didn’t have much experience with this subject but some of friends from his delinquent era were known to use substances, seeing you freaked him out but he decided to remain silent for the moment and confront you that night. So when you were just about to head to your dorm room for the night once again you heard someone call your name, however Duce was much quieter then Ace had been, he probably hadn’t wanted to draw attention to the two of you. Duce explained rather acwordly (despite thinking of this conversation all day) that he was… worried about you, you had no idea what he could be talking about and seeing your confusion he explained that he had seen you that morning taking pills and just as he started to go in a tangent about how incredibly dangerous that is you cut him off and let him know that you greatly appreciated his concern and he should never stay silent about an issues however you weren’t taking anything that wasn’t prescribed to you and that you needed medication to help with some of the symptoms that came with having autism. Duce was rather embarrassed and apologized for accusing you of differently. You made sure he knew you weren’t upset at him and since then you and Duce have gotten closer, he always checks in on you when you look confused in class and he helps you with chores, in return you try to take some of the heat off him when Riddle is mad

Riddle: *yelling at him for something Ace probably did*

Duce: 😰

You: “hay Riddle can you come help me please?”

Riddle: “(name) I’m kind of in the middle of something”

You: “but I can’t remember if I’m supposed to wear pink or if I’m supposed to make the hedgehogs wear pink”

What’s your favorite stim/stim toy? I like a fidget dodecahedron!

Ethari makes me fidget stones out of flawed gemstones. He facets them and then polishes the edges smooth, so they're bumpy but not sharp. I can turn them in the light and see all sorts of inclusions and fractures shining through. They're beautiful and calming. Not least because I know my husband uses them to remind me that imperfect things are still beautiful and useful and well-loved.

ooo how about jewelry taste. dangly earrings vs studs, do they wear bracelets, rings, flashy vs elegant, etc

mirabelle has so many cute trinkets! we know she loves accessories that go ding ding, and she'll layer a ton of necklaces so they knock against each other. sometimes they all match nicely, sometimes it's eclectic chic! she adores metal charms and carved beads, especially charmingly unusual shapes like an itty bitty fork, ducky, book, etc. as well as classics like lockets and bells! she tends to fidget with rings and lose track of them, so she avoids those. post-canon she decides to stop wearing earrings, so she turns her novelty earrings into bracelet/necklace charms! and gives her more basic studs to isabeau so he'll actually own some basics.

isabeau is all about shapes and contrast, so he likes chunky beads in materials like turquoise or jasper that have different shades marbled together, metal geometric shapes, wire-wrapped stone, and unique arrangements of elements. he likes funny noises too, but will go for one complicated necklace instead of multiple single strands. he definitely tends towards statement necklaces and earrings — he used to run into trouble because he only had statement pieces, so they would clash terribly, but then he started buying more matching sets. he loves bonding earrings as a romantic, but is a little torn because there's no way any two earrings could match all of his fits...

odile is the kind of person to pick a nice look and stick to it, so there's not much variety in her accessories. she has her glasses gems, a pair of pearl studs, a pair of silver studs, and a couple sentimental rings that she keeps somewhere safe instead of wearing. we know bonding earrings are popular in ka bue but not as universal as in vaugarde; i think it would be cute if ka bue had a whole language of earrings and rings, with different gem types/cuts/colors denoting different sorts of relationships and emotions. so she's got, like, a [daughter, you are the most important thing in my life] ring from her dad, and a [lover, we change each other] ring from an ex.

siffrin is all about sentimental pieces!! it doesn't really occur to him to buy himself jewelry, but isa or mira will see him looking at something in the market and buy it for him and suddenly the aesthetic appeal that sif had mildly enjoyed doesn't matter at all compared to They Gave This To Me. siffrin tends to be drawn towards solid shades or starry dots, and smooth, swirling shapes. isa also gets them stimmy pieces like a bumpy bangle or spinny ring, and mira gets them cute things that remind her of them like star pins or kitty charms. he's just so fun to give trinkets to, even bonnie and odile have gotten him some, so he's working up quite a collection! he carefully rotates through everything, and keeps some pieces in his pockets when he can't fit everything he wants onto his body or doesn't want to wear any jewelry that day.

bonnie's bracelet is smooth wood, and they're going to be very upset the day it no longer fits over their hand. they prefer non-rock materials like wood, shells, bones, and sea glass, because that's just way more fun! they made shell necklaces with nille all the time, so many that it doesn't matter how often they lose them.

loop goes full magpie! since they don't have to buy necessities like food, they're less careful about spending money than siffrin, plus they're more desperate to capture any scrap of joy. they also have a bit of "everyone else is an npc" brain and "i am both above and beneath normal rules", so they're more comfortable with stealing than siffrin is. they like drapey chains, black and white beads, and unusual pieces. they like the pressure stim of very heavy necklaces and the clack of many bracelets. once when one of their favorites broke they procured the tools to fix it, and started modifying the stuff they own and stringing trinkets onto chains!

The People have Spoken, here are my absolutely Baseless Ben Headcanons

(Cut because theres a lot)

-Has lower back dimples

-Is generally a "Will listen to anything" person, he started as a lil hater but eventually caved and realized that being a hater isn't fun (sometimes)

-Had a bunny growing up named Freckles

-His comfort food is his mom's homemade lasagna, she's make it for him whenever he had a bad day and it always makes him feel better

-Started going to public school after getting back to the mainland, but didn't really make any new friends because he was a hisser

-Can't grow facial hair, like the odd times he gets a stray hair but he's never been able to grow a proper beard or even mustache

-Not used to his height like, at all. Consistantly smacking his head on things.

-One of his favourite artists is Michael Jackson, and his favourite song is Dirty Diana

-Went for like a year with no clothes that fit him after his growth spurt, had maybe 2 pairs of pants he filtered through and any shirts he had fit him like a crop top. Brooklynn eventually caved and took him shopping for more clothes.

-Can secretly actually sing but like no one knows because whenever he sings in front of anyone its just for fun and therefore not his best work

-really good at chess???

-has freckles like everywhere, didn't have as many pre-nublar but they got 'worse' after the island due to the sun

-has a birth mark on his right hip that looks like a malformed heart

-(stealing this from a moot) likes bug shaped food like gummy worms and such

-Will eat out of a boot but won't touch vegetables with a ten foot pole

-The first time he broke a bone was after he got back to mainland and was playing with Bumpy, she knocked him down and he landed wrong and broke his pinky. Sammy does not let him live this down, ever.

-Daddy issues

-Can deal with bugs but has major arachnophobia, will freak out over a tiny spider. Would be horrendously fucked if Wu decided to make giant spiders.

-Spends a lot of time on his hair

-Used to be a mattress on the floor type of guy, luckily his dorm had a proper bed with a frame when he moved in (though prefers the floor mattress, tbh)

-Diagnosis cocktail I fear

-Gotten a little better at drawing with Yaz's help, though only at drawing dinosaurs, still not great at drawing humans

-Tried going to a bar with college friends for his 21st birthday, left the second an older woman started flirting with him

-has mimicking stims, will mimic things other people say or quotes he hears, was stuck saying "Ugh, as if" for months after Brooklynn made him watch clueless

-Says he's good with scary things but is the friend that clings onto whoever hes closest to in haunted houses

-Learned how to use a gun after nublar, doesn't carry or anything but he does have that skill in his back pocket if necessary

-Will buy literally anything that reminds him of Bumpy

-Terrible texter. Like absolutely ass.

-needs sound to sleep, as well as at least a little bit of light

-Sucks at math tbh

-Is the only one of the camp fam who's still ticklish, which makes him very vulnerable at times

Hiya! I have a few questions:

- I have this little silicone scrubbie brush that I use as a stim tool and I especially love rubbing the small bumps on the end with my finger. Big, spread apart bumps and tall bumps or bristles don’t hit the same ksdhksjd. Do you know of any tools that have this kinda texture over a bigger area? Do these fit the bill? I can’t tell with the camera angle lol so an alternate photo or a demo video would be much appreciated.

- Are the textured tangles just plastic or do they have a rubber coating? If there is rubber, is it more like matte silicone or is it the kind that’s really high friction and/or almost sticky?

- Could I get a closeup photo or demo video comparing the different textures of the tactile zen strips? Is the more intense one kind of sandpaper-y?

- I love stress balls but they always seem to pop on me. Are any of yours particularly resistant to popping? Also, are any resistant to getting lint and hair stuck on them?

1 . For the bumpy sensation, it looks incredibly similar to the texture on our Textured Metallic Tangles. It has a harder plastic texture, but seems to have a similar tactile consistency to what you're looking for! Second YES I have finished Righteous Gemstones and tbh I feel like I have to rewatch at least the last couple episodes before I have a solid opinion on the last season. I feel like they really took us on a bumpy emotional rollercoaster this time and since it's the end I just don't know how to feel yet. The only things I know to be true: 1. I just adored Megan Mullally, as I do in most things 2. NOT ENOUGH BABY BILLY AND FAMILY especially aunt Tiffany 3. along that vein, not NEARLY enough of my feminist queens BJ and Keefe.

I think they tried to cut back on the side characters for the finale to focus on the Gemstone fam, but the side characters are all so good I felt their absence 😭😭 if any Gemstone watchers have opinions on the last season please let me know, I need more thoughts and opinions!
