“i smell something burning.” you sniff, poking your head through the bright room. seungmin and felix had just finished their daengnyang school live, texting you to quickly come over. you were already on your way to them anyways, but suspicion immediately came into mind once you saw the message.

you had no idea what they were up to, but whatever it was, it wasn't good. all you heard was that they were preparing something food related.

felix is amazing when it came to baking and cooking but when seungmin is involved, it all somehow goes down hill. what did the kitty cat and puppy do now?

you do a once over at the room, slightly amused of the damage they've caused in such a short amount of time. the condiments and other baking materials were scattered all throughout the table, the pan they've used also had burnt batter residue sticking to it, probably the sole cause of the slight fog that engulfed the room.

“y/n, try it! i made this for you.” seungmin practically beams, shooting from up his seat and holding a plate out. it was a normal enough looking bungeo-ppang, but he has a grin that says evil written all over it.

you glance over at yongbok, the blonde's face morphs into an immediate 'no don’t do it' face while shaking his head vehemently. now you're curious. "what's in this?"

"you have to guess!"

“is this gonna kill me?” 

“no, i promise.” he laughs, holding it to your mouth.

“if i die i'll kill you.” you decide to humor him, taking a very, very small bite out of it. it was spicy and a bit tangy, but the subtle sweetness of the batter contrasted with it in a strange yet palatable way.

“oh, it’s actually pretty good.” you say, grabbing seungmin's wrist to take another bite. felix just watches you with pure disappointment in his eyes.

“see!” the puppy says quite proudly, tail practically wagging.

“what’s in it?”

“sriracha and wasabi.”

“you are trying to kill me!”

"but you liked it!"

"you should try this one y/n." felix says, lifting up his own plate with his creation. you didn't need to think twice since yongbok made it, it's bound to be better than seungmin's. it was different, you thought, tasting cheese and some sort of sauce in the filling.

you went back to taste the sriacha wasabi bungeo-ppang and comparing it to the vaguely pizza flavored one. oddly enough, you found yourself still liking seungmin's better, the expression is clear in your face.

"what?!" seungmin laughs at felix's reaction, patting his back. "you're weird," the blonde snickered, shaking his head.

"we should give this to chan-hyung." the black haired puppy snaps his fingers. your eyes widen, just because you liked it, it doesn't mean chan is gonna think the same way. that man has an abysmal spice tolerance.

"you're planning on giving this to chan? are you trying to kill him?"

before he can reason out why he wants to give this to poor chan, you take the plate out of his hands. "…give it here."

swinging your arms back and forth, you almost jolted when you felt a yank on your arm, the one that he was holding. looking at him, you questioned, "what's up?"

having known each other for years (and been dating for a couple of months now), you knew that in public he acted a certain way, and in private, it was different. home-sieun and outside-sieun were not the same person. you didn't mind- everyone had their different personas when with certain people- that being said, it's obvious why it's such a shock to witness him engaging in his 'in-private' antics when outside.

and so, every once in a while your boyfriend would break out of that double-layered-hardened-shy-shell of his with just a touch of cheeky-ness; something you could have never expected from someone like him.

"do you want a bungeo-ppang?" looking towards the stand that the two of you had just passed by. on the very off chance that your boyfriend would dare ask you for something first, most of the time the answer would be yes, but for once you felt inclined to respond with "hmm.. no, not really." you shrugged.

if you weren't a detective (or his partner) it would be hard to pick up on the way his eyes lingered on the side of your face when you turned your head back to face the dimly lit path of the park you were in, waiting for you to look back at him, urging you to notice him and what he really meant by his question. after a few seconds you looked back at him with a questioning gaze. "what?"

he didn't respond, only giving you a look. that look. his mouth tilted downwards in an almost unnoticeable pout, his head turned completely in your direction, and those eyes. those big, dewy brown eyes of his that held nothing but pure innocence- enough to give a new born fawn competition.

"stop giving me those eyes." you said, huffing as you felt your face warm up. you looked away towards the ground, unable to handle his affectionate gaze. he blinked at you, his gaze unmoving. "...what eyes?"

you stopped in your tracks and removed your hand from his, walking backwards towards the bungeo-ppang stand. he watched as you conversed with the vendor, looking as you handed them cash in exchange for the treat, and walked back over to him.

"here." you mumbled, urging the boy to take the treat from your hands. he looks at you before taking it, placing his soft lips around the warm treat and biting into it.

he chews and swallows, inaudibly sighing in content. "thank you," you captured his hands back into yours, interlacing your fingers. "you don't have to do that, y'know. you can just ask me. i'd do anything for you." you surprise yourself with your boldness, looking at the ground shyly, not daring to meet his eyes.

he doesn't speak, his cheeks turning red as he nods. "okay." he adds, biting into the food once more. "is it good?"

he nods, glancing at you. "can i have a bit?" he nods again, offering you an unbitten side of the treat. "that's not what i meant.." you say lowly before cupping his cheek, leaning in and placing a kiss on his lips.

it doesn't last long before he pulls away, looking away and at the ground. you chuckle at his antics and tug his hand. "red bean tastes good on you."

you applauded the group once the song was over and they stopped dancing, their panting and breathing taking over the silence of the practice room. a few of them sat or lay on the floor while the others went off to get some refreshments. you stood up, thinking to grab water for the members that were tired and on the floor.

"y/n-ah, you're an angel. thank you," seokmin reached for the bottle in your hand from his seat on the floor.

you sat between him and mingyu, passing the latter another bottle. they thanked you and you smiled at them, telling them that they have done a good job. you were too busy laughing and talking with the two of them to realise that vernon was watching you from the back of the room, a subtle but fond smile on his features.

he was on his phone, scrolling through the notifications he had. most of them from you sending videos as they practiced just ten minutes ago. as he was going through his feed, he heard you laugh at something and looked up again.

"you should tell her, you know," wonwoo encouraged with a pat on his back.

vernon blinked at him. "tell her what, hyung?"

"oh come on, it's so obvious you like her," wonwoo teased with a smirk.

"yeah! just tell her, hyung!" dino chimed in, a wide smile on his face.

the boy wasn't exactly quiet, which earned him hushing noises from both wonwoo and vernon. chan apologised with a sheepish smile, and hansol took a moment to appreciate the chatter of everyone else in the room. he glanced back at you who was still chatting away with dk and mingyu before shaking his head. wonwoo pat him again on the shoulder and returned his attention back to his phone, and chan left to go and review the choreography with soonyoung.

vernon sighed and glanced back at his phone. the device that had automatically shut off turned on again, and he was now looking at you through the photo he had set as his lock screen.

it was taken by one of the group's members. you were bent over laughing with one hand on your knee, the other pointing at vernon who was looking at you judgementally. he had a bungeo-ppang hat on, which was already funny, but he didn't remember what exactly made you laugh that hard and for him to make that face. he did however, remember how beautiful you looked with that smile on your face when he saw that candid photo for the first time.

you had noticed the background before and had asked him about it. his excuse was that it was just a funny memory and he wanted to remember it. he didn't want you to know that he had it set because he was so enchanted by you.

he didn't know when or how, but he's had a crush on you for the longest time. the two of you had been friends for longer. you were attached at the hip ever since before you knew how to talk, and it was almost like you were siblings since you both grew up together. he never told you his feelings for you, for many reasons. one of them was that he didn't want to ruin the special bond you already shared with this puppy love, so he decided to keep it a secret.

only, it wasn't just puppy love.

vernon saw every side of you and still loved you. he saw your temper, your insecurities, your humour, your kindness, your hatred, everything. he still loved every part of you, wishing every day that you were his as much as he was already yours.

"bononieeee," you called in a sing-song voice.

he snapped out of his thoughts and noticed the phone had turned off automatically once again. vernon looked up at you who was walking towards where he was sitting. you nodded at him in question and he blinked awkwardly. was he staring for too long?

"what are you doing?" you asked as you took a seat next to him, waving at wonwoo in the process.

"nothing much. have you eaten?" he asked you in reply.

"not yet, but i'm not really that hungry. we can go out for dinner after you're done! i know a good place," you wiggled your eyebrows at him.

he chuckled. that good place would definitely be the restaurant down the street that you've frequented since you guys were teens. he couldn't blame you though. they really had the best home-cooked meals. it had become you guys' spot for all occasions.

"i'm down," he said, smiling at you. 

"great! you can come too, wonwoo-ssi," you offered.

vernon felt something in his chest shift. he was hoping you guys could hang out alone since you always hung out in groups. its been a while since hansol had you all to himself.

"oh i'm good, thank you. you guys have fun," wonwoo said, politely declining.

you nodded at him in understanding and told him he's welcomed to join next time too if he wants. the older boy chuckled and ruffled your hair as he got up, earning a noise of disapproval from you. he told you guys he'd be right back since he wanted to get a drink, vernon helping you fix your hair as you mimicked punches at wonwoo for doing that.

"thanks, nonie. you're so nice to me," you smiled at him as your gaze softened once you looked at him again.

"of course," his rich deep voice was music to your ears.

"i gotta go do one last bout of practice. dinner later, yeah?" he said as you heard the instructors gather the whole team again.

you nodded at him, the smile you had on never leaving your face as he got up and jogged over to his group. the music started again, and you can't help but stare at your best friend the entire time.

what vernon didn't know, was that you've always felt the same. you were just too shy to say anything and afraid that this really all might just be puppy love.

Sleeping was deffinetly one of your favourite things. The feeling of the warm blanket arround, as well as knowing that you didn’t have to go to school or work the next day always made you feel happy, no matter what could had happened. And that day wasn’t an exception. 

You turned arround, looking for a more comfortable position to continue sleeping for some more hours, when you suddenly noticed a sweet smell all over the place.

You oppened an eye, still half asleep. Where was the smell comming from, and why did it look so familiar? It wasn’t until you saw the little note beside you that you realized where you were.

Good morning! Yesterday you fell asleep on the couch, so I took you here. I hope you slept well. I assumed that you would be hungry, so I made breakfast. Come to the kitchen once you get up :]

You couldn’t help but smile brightly as you read the note. Ni-ki’s soft side always made your heart melt, and it was one of the best feelings ever. In less than a minut, you had gotten up, and taking the hoodie that Ni-ki had left intentionally next to the note, you headed to the kitchen.

- Y/N, you’re finnally awake!- the boy exclaimed as soon as he saw you- I’ve been waiting for ages.

You smiled as you hugged him, not knowing a better way to start your day.

- Good morning for you too- you replaid, still with a half asleep voice. 

- Are you hungry?- the boy asked, trying to hide the smile that was forming on his face just by looking at you- I made chocolate bungeo-ppang, your favourites.

- You did?- you said happily- No wonder it smells so good.

He nodded and turned arround to get some of them before you could see his flustered face and read cheeks. Hearing you complimenting him was one of his favourite things ever.

- Alright, what do you want to do today?- he asked once you had finnished eating. 

- Mmm... what about staying home watching something?

- What? Tomorrow is Christmas and you want to stay home?- he said, not believing you- I even cancelled all my plans and schedules just to be with you.

- Okey, okey, sorry- you apologized quickly- Any ideas?

- Well, in fact, I made a list of things we can do.

You laughed, thinking he was joking, but stopped right away when Ni-ki took out the list and started reading.

- We can start at the arcade, we haven’t been there in ages. Then, we could go ice skating or bowling. The Christmas fair starts at 6 pm, so we can eat lunch at a new japanese restaurant I found nearby, and then go there. And last but not least, we can see all the Christmas lights once it gets dark. Ni-ki looked at you with those big shiny eyes that you loved that much, and waited for your answer.

- Well... those are a lot of things to do- you said, impressed by the long list- I don’t think we will have time to...

But you didin’t end what you were about to say, because the sad look on Ni-ki’s eyes made you change your opinion really quick.

- Nevermind. Get ready, Ni-ki, we have a list to complete!

The boy jumped excited, and started to pick up his things.

- You are gonna have the best time of your life, I primise- he said before leaving to change into something more confortable.

Both of you laughed at the memories you had made at the ice rink.

- You can’t complain tho. After that, I took you to see the lights and bought you hot chocolate- he said- And I gave you the teddy bear I had won at the fair.

Ni-ki came closer and hugged you, resting his chin on the top of your head. Feeling his arms arround you and his warmth made you feel as if you had won everything this life could give you.

- Oh, look at the time- you suddlenly said- It’s 00:23, 25th of December, time to open the presents!

But the boy didn’t answer. Instead, he suggled closer to you.

- I think presents can wait a bit more- he said with a sleepy voice- I already have the best present ever here. Thanks for spending the day with me, Y/N, and thanks for spending every day with me. I really hope to be with you for the rest of my life. I love you- he mumbled, closing his eyes.

So like I said before, Melody and Reef are both twins! Reef actually hatched just a few seconds before though

Reef is super attached to Marie, he gets frightened and nervous very easily, and when he does Marie is always there to comfort him. Usually, she’ll sing to him until he calms down, sometimes he’ll even sing along with her 🥹

This song ⬇️ Marie told him that if he sings it it’ll keep all the monsters and scary things away

Reef also has a shark plush Shiver got him for his first birthday! It’s so large he can barely carry it, but it’s his favorite thing and he’ll try to take it everywhere when he can, it’s already pretty worn and Shiver has had to patch it up a few times already

Melody is always full of energy and she’s always eager to make new friends. Marie and Shiver are constantly trying to keep up with her to make sure she doesn’t get in too much trouble

Melody loves spending time with her aunts, Frye and Callie, because they are always happy to play with her! She loves to draw and will sit with Shiver while they paint.

On her 5th birthday Callie and Frye got Melody some twirling ribbons! She likes to listen to her parents music and tries to ribbon dance to the songs (her favorites are Smeared Canvas, Ink Me Up, and, Liquid Sunshine!) sometimes Reef will sing and Melody will dance along!

Shiver likes to take both of them on (safe and secure) rides with Master Mega. They make trips to Calamari County and the Hohojoro clan annually for family visits! Both of the babies see Shiver as “the cool mom” but if they’re sick or hurt they’ll run to Marie for comfort (Marie has a little more practice bc she used to help and comfort Callie when they were little) if one of them got even a paper cut Shiver would freak out and not stop fussing over them

Melody’s favorite color is Blue bc it’s the color of the sky on a nice day, and the ocean, and master mega

Reef’s favorite color is yellow/gold bc it’s the color of the shiny confetti during splatfest, the warm sun, and his moms eyes

Melody’s favorite snack is Bungeo-ppang (similar to Taiyaki) that is filled with cream and chocolate

Reef’s favorite food is candied sweet potatoes and pineapple!

even you frown when ji-ae compares jungkook to his good-for-nothing father. jaekuk has singlehandedly tore apart his family, even though you smile with ji-ae and talk with her you can’t help but despise jaekuk for destroying such a beautiful family. even destroying his own wife to the point where any mention of his or her son’s name sends her in a panic.

“ms. ji-ae, it’s lunch time” says a nurse who walks in with a plate of warm food in separate portions. “have the two of you ate, kookie? surely you’re hungry?” asks his mother who selflessly offers the two of you what her lunch but you politely decline. “no, no, no. go ahead, jungkook and i will go get something. what kind of snacks do you like ms. ji-ae?” you ask with a smile on your face and helping her set up the table for her lunch.

“ooh, bungeo-ppang please??” she says with a smile and before you leave, you give his mother one last hug “i’ll be outside” you tell him before leaving him alone with his mother for a bit. a few minutes later, he joins you outside her room and walks you to the car to talk for a bit.

“don’t get mad but” you begin by squeezing his hand. “you kind of…are…like your father in someways”

it’s one thing for his mother to say it but YOU?! any comparison to his father will always be an insult to him because the both of you know that his father is no-good. he’s completely ruined his family and has threatened you, so how is he like his father? why wouldn’t he get upset at a comment like that because it’s far from a compliment.

“i mean, when you get angry, you act just like him. you already look like him. well, it’s 50/50 but when you get upset, your mom is right, you act just like him”

Why would you say that to him?

“do you think that’s funny?” He makes a disgusted face. You should know that he sensitive when it comes to being compared with his monster of a father. He takes a deep breath, trying not to get angry, and he closes his eyes for a moment.

“please I am begging you to never say that again.” He scoffs, how can I even compare him to his father when he literally threatened your mother‘s life and Jungkook respects her so much. Your hand on his hand, calms his bubbling anger down, and he cannot take it out on you of course because it’s not your fault.

Maybe he is like his father, but he doesn’t really like you to acknowledge that fact.. so you and his mother should really stop making him realize that.

“you’ll see how much a great man I will become when we have a family together I won’t be like my father at all yn.” He says, “ should we go and buy mom’s favorite snack from somewhere else or just the hospital canteen?”

He is still bothered by your comment, but he really doesn’t want that to become an issue between you two because right now you guys have a lot to deal with. He just wants this day to go by calmly.

Hunter Human: “HA HA! I’m gonna catch them all!” Hunter Human: “And THEN I’ll be filthy rich! WA HA HA!” Golden Carp: “Oh no! Somebody help us!” RM Cookie: The Land of Bun was in big trouble! What’s gonna happen next?! Is there anybody who can save the kingdom?

RM Cookie: Thankfully, Jinseidon came to the rescue! He was the guardian of the pond and looked a LOT like in Cookie. Jinseidon: “It is I… protector of this pond…” Jinseidon: “And I tell thee… You must set the golden carps free. Only then will you find peace in these lands…” RM Cookie: The Cookies of the Land of Bun were confused at first, but decided to follow Jinseidon’s instructions. RM Cookie: Jinseidon then used his powers to create a whirlpool in the pond, and the carps were all set free. RM Cookie: Now, instead of real carps, the pond was filled with golden bungeo-ppang, and peace was restored in the Land of Bun!

Wizard Cookie: Wow… That’s quite the story! Wizard Cookie: I had no idea that the bungeo-ppang we eat today are actually made after these golden carp. RM Cookie: It’s okay. You would have to be very into bungeo-ppang to know that. RM Cookie: But if I ever really do create the Land of Bun. I’ll make sure to invite you all. Because we’re friends now! Wizard Cookie: Wow, thanks so much!

Jin Cookie’s Kingdom

Princess Cookie: Hello, Jin Cookie! How are you doing today? Jin Cookie: Very good! The Cookie Kingdom is a great place! Jin Cookie: I’ve been looking around, and there are cute and fun things in every corner! Jin Cookie: I used to imagine what my kingdom would be like. I’m totally taking notes from this kingdom! Princess Cookie: Oh? What would your kingdom look like? Please, do tell!

Jin Cookie: Once upon a time, there was a kingdom of Jelly Worms. The kingdom was called… The Wiggle Kingdom. Jin Cookie: The Jelly Worms were sweet, squishy jellies that built their kingdom underground by digging lots and lots of tunnels. Jin Cookie: Among these endearing Jelly Worms, was the gigantic King Jelly Worm.

Jelly Worm King: “I’m the biggest Jelly Worm in the entire kingdom! Which is why I am king.“ Jelly Worm King: “And I like to sleep in these tunnels.” Jin Cookie: And it was said that if you had a bite of King Jelly Worm, it would grant you enormous wealth. Jin Cookie: That’s when an intruder attacked the WIggle Kingdom. Princess Cookie: What?! Oh no! Those poor Jelly Worms! Jin Cookie: It was an evil frog from the neighboring kingdom. Jin Cookie: It was after the King Jelly Worm’s jellies!

Mr.Frogg-o: “RIBBIT RIBBIT! *GULP* RIIIIBBIT!” Mr.Frogg-o: “The King Jelly Worm’s jellies are ALL MINE! RIBBIT!” Jin Cookie: It looked like all hope was lost in the Wiggle Kingdom as Mr. Frog’s long tongue turned King Jelly Worm’s jellies into sweet mush…!

Princess Cookie: WHAT HAPPENED!? Jin Cookie: But that’s when professional cheerer j-hope Cookie appeared! And j-hope Cookie shouted as loud as he could! j-hope Cookie Drawn by Jin Cookie: “You can do it!” j-hope Cookie Drawn by Jin Cookie: “You can do it, King Jelly Worm! Never surrender!” Jin Cookie: When the King Jelly Worm heard j-hope Cookie’s cheer, he felt like his powers returned. Jin Cookie: Mr. Frog soon grew tired for some reason. He tried to attack again, but couldn’t find the energy to even move! He soon collapsed. Jin Cookie: And that’s how peace was returned to the Wiggle Kingdom! Soon, the happy Jelly Worms could work hard again, and made the whole underground world their kingdom!

Princess Cookie: Phew! Thank goodness the Jelly Worms were able to protect their kingdom! Princess Cookie: I never realized how powerful words can be! Princess Cookie: Wiggle Kingdom, right? I sure would like to visit some day! Jin Cookie: Yup! In fact, you might be standing on it right now! Ha ha!

SUGA Cookie’s Kingdom

Strawberry Cookie: H-hi, SUGA Cookie! I’m Strawberry Cookie. Strawberry Cookie: Welcome to our kingdom…! I hope you like it here… SUGA Cookie: I already do! Everyone is happy and it’s peaceful here. SUGA Cookie: I’ve always dreamt of a kingdom of my own, but this Cookie Kingdom is pretty great, too. Strawberry Cookie: Oh? A kingdom of your own? What’s it like there? I wanna know…!

SUGA Cookie: Right. First of all… this kingdom is based in modern day Korea! SUGA Cookie: And it’s called JJK. It stands for JEONtong JEONGtong Gwaja Kingdom. (* Land of Legit Traditional Sweets) SUGA Cookie: The desserts of this kingdom are all traditional sweets of Korea. From the Hotteok Stadium, Hotteok trees… Lots of familiar and nostalgic desserts! SUGA Cookie: The king of this fair kingdom wore a crown made of yakgwa. It was a lawless state, where strength meant power. SUGA Cookie: Oh, but don’t get me wrong. It was still quite peaceful. SUGA Cookie: But there’s always someone who wants to disrupt peace. And this time, the non-traditional desserts didn’t like how everything had to be so traditional. SUGA Cookie: In this case, one particular hamburger had different ideas.

Outlandish Hamburger: “Ha ha… I’m a hamburger! I may look like a macaron but I’m a hamburger indeed! Macarons are my distant relatives, though.” Outlandish Hamburger: “You don’t know what you’re missing out on! Tradition this, tradition that. Taste… THIS!” Strawberry Cookie: An invasion? That’s so scary! SUGA Cookie: The hamburger took over the kingdom one step at a time. SUGA Cookie: And amidst all the confusion, a hero appeared.

SUGA Cookie: Jeon Jeongguk had arrived to protect the Jeontong Jeongtong Gwaja Kingdom! Jeon Jung Kook: “Halt, you tradition-breaking hamburgers!” Strawberry Cookie: Phew! That’s a relief! SUGA Cookie: Using his ridiculous strength, Jeon Jeongguk defeated the hamburgers and was able to protect the Jeontong Jeongtong Gwaja Kingdom. SUGA Cookie: And simply said this: Jeon Jung Kook: “Never underestimate the traditional desserts again.” Jeon Jung Kook: “Do you know hotteok?” SUGA Cookie: And that’s how the Land of Legit and Traditional Snacks regained peace!

And was immediately convinced by V Cookie! j-hope Cookie: The Waffle Monster soon realized the wrong in its ways. Instead, it decided to protect the kingdom! j-hope Cookie: With that, the Hopeful Kingdom was able to produce more waffles, and everyone was happy again! j-hope Cookie: And they all lived happily ever after! Jimin Cookie: The ARMYs loved sweets so much that their genuine wishes reached the Cookies, giving them life! And that’s how Eistallen Kingdom was built. Jimin Cookie: But this kingdom held a great secret. ARMY’s purest childhood wishes was what kept the entire kingdom together. Jimin Cookie: And one day, a great crisis happened! Knight Cookie: A crisis? Like… a dragon?! Jimin Cookie: No, they were the evil Cookies who wanted to steal the purest wishes… And they were moldy, past their expiration date, too! They could potentially make the ARMYs sick! Pure Dream-stealing Monsters: “Pfft! Childhood innocence?! You mean that bright and ridiculously happy stuff?!” Pure Dream-stealing Monsters: “We’re already past our expiry date. Our purest wishes have already wafted off and disappeared! We’ll destroy this childhood mumbo-jumbo stuff once and for all!”

Jimin Cookie: But that’s when the cheese ball hero, SUGA appeared! SUGA: “Threatening to destroy the hopes and dreams of children? Not when I’m here! I’ve been training 30 years for this!” SUGA: “30 years… because I’m 30 years old!” Jimin Cookie: SUGA defeated the moldy Cookies with his big and fancy sword. He even restored their childhood innocence! Jimin Cookie: With SUGA’s help, the Cookies and desserts of Eistallen Kingdom lived happily ever after.

Knight Cookie: What a great story! Naphthalene Kingdom sounds so cool! Jimin Cookie: It’s Eistallen Kingdom. I’ll invite you over if I build my kingdom! Knight Cookie: Ooh, it’s a promise! I can’t wait to visit it!

V Cookie: I imagined a different kingdom as a kid playing games, but this place is great, too! Angel Cookie: Please tell me what kind of kingdom you envisioned as a child…

V Cookie: Long long time ago, there was the kingdom of SUGA-R. V Cookie: SUGA-R was a kingdom full of sugar. The subjects were all sweet and happy, thanks to the endless source of sugar. V Cookie: The sugar of SUGA-R was created by a magical star shaped gem. Without this gem, the kingdom couldn’t produce sugar. V Cookie: All of a sudden, a horrible tragedy struck the kingdom of SUGA-R! Angel Cookie: Oh no…! I hope it’s not anything too bad… V Cookie: It was reality! I may look small, but the sword I wield can reach far!” Jimin: “How dare you try to crush the kingdom of SUGA-R, where sweet and happy dreams thrive! I, Jimin Cookie, will not allow that!” V Cookie: The knight struck his massive sword and realized dreams! Dreams were realized! And reality stood no chance! Dream: “Ugh… ARGHHHHH!!” Dream: “His sword… changed the arrangement of my letters! S’more Timer: “Tick… tock…” Jung Kook Cookie: It’s just that the s’more timer was created by compressing the sweetest materials in the world, so it was super, super, sweet! Jung Kook Cookie: And that’s when the Kingdom With Luv faced a crisis…! Milk Cookie: What? What happened? Is the kingdom in trouble?? Jung Kook Cookie: Word of this s’more timer reached neighboring lands, and a creature came to the Kingdom with Luv to get their hands on the timer. They even brought a fork and knife!

Foods That Appear in Yi-Kyung's Series

This is a new sort-of "series" where I talk about foods that may appear in stories if they are of international origin. First up is Korean girl Yi-Kyung!

-Bulgogi: thin grilled or marinated slices of beef that are grilled on a barbecue or by stove top. -San-nakji: octopus tentacles that are served still moving on the plate. They carry a choking hazard, especially if the consumer is drunk. Appears in: Yi-Kyung's Chaotic Summer. -Bibimbap: a rice dish topped with namul (sautéed or blanched seasoned vegetables) and gochujang (chili pepper paste.) Egg and sliced meat (usually beef) are common additions. Appears in: Yi-Kyung's Chaotic Summer. -Nurungji: the crisp thin layer of rice left on the bottom of the pot when cooking rice. This is one of Yi-Kyung's favorite Korean snacks, appearing in her series most prominently in Yi-Kyung's Chaotic Summer. -Naengmyeon: long and thin buckwheat noodles served in an iced broth along with raw julienned vegetables and fruit, and often a boiled egg and cold cooked beef. Is called Raengmyŏn in its native North Korea. Appears most prominently in Yi-Kyung's Chaotic Summer, although it appears in other books in her series. -Bungeo-Ppang: literally meaning 'carp bread', it is similar to the Japanese snack Taiyaki and is a popular street food in South Korea. The filling is typically red bean paste, but many street vendors sell this snack with fillings such as pastry cream (called choux cream in South Korea), pizza toppings, chocolate, among others. Appears in Yi-Kyung's Chaotic Summer. -Hotteok: a type of filled pancake, it is a popular street food in South Korea. Unlike the above Bungeo-ppang, Hotteok are generally filled with sweet fillings to suit Korean tastes. Appears in Yi-Kyung's Chaotic Summer most prominently, although it does appear in her winter book when her parents receive a Hotteok mix from her paternal grandparents. -Gyeran-ppang: an oblong shaped bread dish made of pancake dough, it comes stuffed with a fried egg inside the dough and common toppings include chopped parsley, cheese, and diced ham. Appears in all of Yi-Kyung's books, but appears most prominently in Yi-Kyung's Chaotic Summer. -Melona: a variety of ice pop first sold in 1992, it's known for its melon taste. Other varieties include banana, strawberry, mango, and coconut. Appears in Yi-Kyung's Chaotic Summer. -Bingsu: a shaved ice dessert, may include red beans (Patbingsu), but other common toppings are chopped fruit, condensed milk, or flavored syrups. Appears in Yi-Kyung's Chaotic Summer.
