That so far I haven't seen a single fanfic about what happened when Halt was going through it in the burning bridge and just started defenestrating people and beating up children

Flanny should have included it in the book that would have been funny.

Sodorgust day 29: fire

Rusty and Duncan struggled up the old wooden bridge with their long train, more fire was eating its way up the support beams, the smoke slithering up between the decaying wood, and the fire on the trees in the hills and mountains were taking them from above. The two engines slipped and quarter-slipped up the grade as the sound of wooden beams breaking and falling began to increase; it caused even the coaches behind them to silently start crying along with the parents and children. "Please, Lady,I'm begging you" Rusty began, "we've already lost so much and-" he was cut off by a Scottish accent, "We can't lose what little we have left. All the families, all the trees and animals and trucks and workmen and vehicles who couldn't escape the flames, so please, please, allow me to save those I can from the fate of those less fortunate", and Duncan blew his whistle, Rusty his horn, and they sent their prayer into the heavens. Nothing happened, and for a second all lost hope, until Duncan's steam pressure shot upward, and with a mighty blast of his whistle, he surged forward blasting steam in all directions, and as he did the smoke divided like a giant snowplow was run through it, and the engines marched their train across the bridge before the smoke closed behind them and the bridge was engulfed in tall, white-hot flames, and the duo, guided by Lady and the spirits of the narrow gauge down to Crovan's Gate.

You should always try to talk things out first when possible, but sometimes, that's over, sometimes, some relations are beyond saving, and when they stab you in the back, it's important to make sure to protect yourself, don't keep that bridge up, don't give them a change to communicate with you and hurt (and/or manipulate) you more in the process

Do the healthy thing, burn it down as well, to protect yourself and start moving on, even if it is hard, block block block There are so many people out there who would genuinly appreciate your love, time, and presence, don't waste it on people who aren't worth it

Finding Draxum

A little comic of Mikey finding Draxum in the street after he got drained by the Shredder suit. The original idea for this storyline was that Draxum would align himself with the Hamatos for a time while The Shredder took over the city, until his ego and obsession with prophesy led him to betray them once more. This time he would get no third chance, and Mikey would be the one to draw the line and tell him so before making him leave the city for good.

I love TMNT for its found family! But having had to cut off irl blood relatives before despite how many chances they were given, I kind of like Draxum as a villain despite him being the creator of the turtles. But that’s just me!

This doesn’t lead to his nice canonical show self in my mind , though it can totally still be read that way :)

ok but no seriously when are we going to talk about the fact that cold and smitten both have heartless imagery. cold getting his heart ripped out by spectre. smitten tearing his own chest open to remove his heart and give it to someone. like. what is wrong with them. like genuinely

i need smitten to call him heartless and cold being all "and you would know all about that wouldnt you" and smitten has to be held back from snapping his fucking neck. i think hed HATE how similar they are i really do. and cold wld love dangling it above his head. hook line and sinker.

and ofc, he doesnt just do it for the love of the game, altho he is a world champion at it. its self destructive. he wants to be hurt so bad. freak. but he cant just walk up to someone and go "hey can you stab me a lil" bc a) thats vulnerability and b) NOBODY is going to do it. so he just sticks to provoking people to get what he wants. and smitten will always fall for it bc hes an emotionally driven person. his heart outweighs his head. i feel like even if he was toldexactly what cold was doing hed still struggle not to react. hes just that kind of guy.

"Halt and Will" this, "Will and Horace" that, I'm a little insane recently so can we please. please can we talk about Gilan and Will because I'm being driven up the WALLS about them

Gilan first meets Will at the Gathering and he's like, "oh, this dude is tiny. but he's polite and Halt trusts him, so I do, too." and then they find out the Kalkara have been released and that Halt wants him- which is cool, whatever- and Will to go and help him track it. And he's completely fine to put his own life at risk, because he knows Halt and the kingdom and himself, but the moment it processes that Will is going to be walking into danger, he completely stops. I mean sure, he comes around to the plan, but one of the first things he says is, "But he's only a boy!" He barely knows this kid and wants him far away from any kind of danger. And when he listens to Halt, when he sees that Will is fully capable of taking care of himself, he even places trust in him, allowing him to ride Blaze to Redmont and beyond.

And then he takes him on a mission in the Burning Bridge. Can we just. Really process that. Like we all talk about Halt grieving Will after watching him be shipped away, but think about Gilan, who had left Will in charge and the next time he hears about him, he's probably not alive. The guilt would tear him apart. That was his brother, that was the boy he joked with and gave advice to and watched grow, and he left him for only a few days and suddenly he was gone. Not only did he have to grieve, he had to grieve on his own- Halt was spiraling, Crowley was trying to keep Halt in control, and the Rangers still had work to do. He couldn't react like Halt because someone still needed to help search for the convicts. He could only stand by, knowing it was his fault, blaming himself for leaving, unsure if his brother was alive or dead, watching his father become closed-off and wreckless.

When the time comes, he can't even search for Will. Halt goes, losing his title- the way he had even met Gilan, his shared aspect with the man, the part that had initially made him family- to find his brother without him. Gilan has to wait for a year, now without two family members rather than one, unsure if either of them were okay. He didn't even know if they would come home. And still, he has to blame himself, because if he had just taken Will with him back to the kingdom, if he had waited a little while longer, none of this would have happened.

And then Will comes back. The bright boy he had known so long ago is now even smaller than when Gilan had first met him. He has a hard time remembering things and gets cold too easily for a boy his age. His skin is pale and his eyes are tired, and deep down Gilan thinks that he did this. Will went through things no Ranger, especially no Ranger's apprentice, should go through, because of one careless mistake on Gilan. He doesn't know what even happened to him! All he knows is that Will and Halt have changed and Gilan hasn't. He tries to bond with him again, and everyone tells him not to blame himself, but holy shit it all went so wrong and Gilan barely had the chance to know.

And they end up okay, of course. Gilan works to give Will advice in his last year of training, as the mocking-older-brother he is, he makes fun of him when the younger apprentices model themselves after him. But I really think, deep down, Gilan still thinks about what could have happened if Halt hadn't been faster. He thinks about what might have happened if he had been smarter. Gilan wakes up in a cold sweat knowing that he ruined anything and was lucky for it all to be okay.

Anyway, I think we should have more bonding scenes for Gilan and Will and I want them back and I miss them and they mean so much to me and htey're brothers and and

In the last year we’ve been in our house, we’ve had an issue with one of our neighbors. He owns the house, but he rents it out all year on Airbnb.

His house/garage shares a back pedestrian alley with ours. Now, he keeps his trash bins at the street 24/7 since he’s not there to take them out on trash day, which means that for the first few months we owned our home, his guests were filling up our bins, the only bins in the pedestrian alley, with trash/recycling (even though they’re right outside our door, not his). They would run out of space and overflow every week and we’d have nowhere to put our trash. We messaged the owner multiple times and he did nothing. So we moved our trash and recycling out to the street as well, which is a hassle, but better than dealing with a bunch of party-trash on a weekly basis.

We left our compost bin, since we step out the back door to empty our kitchen compost container into it almost daily and don’t want to walk all the way around to the street. This bin is bright and very clearly labeled both for our home and for compost.

His Airbnb guests did not care. For the past few months, at least every other week, I am pulling trash (often not bagged) from our compost bin. I’ve added giant signs, I’ve tried putting bungee cords on it so they have to slow down and read the signs. They ignore these measures.

Thursday, after having to completely clean out the bin of rotting party trash (again) so we can use it for compost, we sent a message to the owner (again) that was ignored (again).

Instead of dealing with the trash myself this time, I left if piled outside his back door.

This morning, not only is the trash still piled outside the door 3 days later, his new guests, who checked in Friday, have added an additional bag.

B is still trying to message him and be diplomatic.

I’m ready to burn some bridges.

My first thought is to bring all the trash to the front porch, so someone will be forced to deal with it if they want to get in or out of the home.

My second thought is to tell the city he’s operating an illegal Airbnb. In the city proper, due to the housing crisis, you can only get a rental license if the home is your primary residence and you live there for the majority of the year. He verifiably does not.

Now, I’m not typically a snitch but A this guy has been given multiple (multiple)opportunities to address his guests’ poor behavior and elected not to. B, he’s knowingly contributing to the rise in housing costs which is a dick move in itself.

Frankly I’m not above doing both, at this point.
