Amazing to me how many violence loving bigots are trying to act like their fetish for the brutalization of innocents is somehow progressive or in support of any cause.

Equating a brutal group of terrorists with all Palestinians is bigoted and untrue. Saying Hamas's tactics are acceptable since Palestinians just can't help committing war crimes because they are incapable of not brutalizing old women and children is bigoted and untrue. Saying it's ok to rape and torture people to death as long as they're Jews is bigoted and untrue.

Hamas stands for nothing. They are a hate group. Just like their supporters.

I'm never going to not be furious about Lore Olympus having a whole mini arc dedicated to Demeter questioning her parenting and apologizing to Persephone and trying to work through her generational trauma, while Hades neglects Thanatos his entire life, humiliates and bullies him several times as an adult, and the way that is dealt with is one chapter of Hades saying "my dad sucked so I didn't even try to be a parent" and not even apologizing, while Thanatos has to apologize to Hades and tells him "you weren't as bad as you could have been, i made things difficult for you as a kid and at least you were there" and that's it.

i’m sure this has been said before and much more concisely but the whole parasocial relationship that audiences have with creators has only perversely grown in the sphere of literature. i see the most examples on places like tiktok and yours truly, tumblr, but it’s cropping up everywhere now. comments like “x author TOTALLY didn’t understand y character—they should have totally did this instead”. there’s a huge difference between an author mixing up/not fully fleshing out plots but to have this strange sort of hubris to suppose you know an author’s character better than said author is just inane interesting. this also extends to the very not new but never endingly exhausting theme of “why would author EVER write this like ugh i almost stopped reading here” okay bethany why didn’t u. it’s not every single authors job to cater to ur interests. not everything u read is supposed to be making a morally sound point, certainly not supposed to meet your personal version of one. literature is art, is subjective, is open and unrestrained. it’s not “oh my god this character is soooo toxic why is the author gaslighting us and omg there isn’t enough sPiCe” like grow up and learn critical thinking god

Haters, in my opinion, don't appreciate Sydney being shipped with Carmy because they don't find Sydney to be conventionally attractive enough to warrant more than just buddies. Whether it's the eye contact, the fragility between them, or simply that one special moment when Syd helped Carm with the table, it's clear that their relationship is anything but platonic. You could say, for example, that it's just mutual admiration between coworkers or a mentor-mentee situation, but if she was megan fox or zendaya no one would bat an eye at a potential romance.

What if Eldritch madness is like swimming in the ocean. What I’m saying here. Is that unknown knowledge is an ocean that goes down forever. You go down too deep too fast, the pressure crushes you. You come back up too quickly, you die of blood oxygenation. Some people don’t even have the strength or presence of mind to ever surface again. You have to learn how to dive safely. How to swim well. You have to be perseverant and always strive to do better, and to be aware of the danger and past follies of others. If you know the particulars of it like your own name, and have your goals in mind, you should be alright, but the ocean is still an unpredictable force of nature. If you choose to take the plunge you’d better know how to swim.

Anyways do you think this means that since Eldritch beings might be unfamiliar with human stuff it would be just as freaky and confusing to them as their stuff is to us. Like Cthulhu sees a juice box and is like “What the actual fuck is that”

i know the warrior nun writers can write a romance better than most tv writers simply because of the “my job and my pleasure” line. i went feral the first time i heard that because imagine having a slow burn ship that is still good and still a slow burn even though at the beginning of season two, one of the characters is out here confessing something like that with her full chest. and that’s after one of the most well-written arguments i’ve ever seen on screen.
