17.1 is one for the books. Last year was my first year being part of the open and I scaled everything. This year I told myself I would do my best to RX as much as possible. Was nervous about how far I could go with these. As the rounds went on, I started feeling engaged enough (like the drive I had at our box in the past) to go heavy. Soo good to have that feeling again! I haven’t felt it in a long time. Having the time pressure helped a lot in not thinking too much and just picking up the bar.
The reps definitely started hurting once 80kg came around. The 85 felt HEAVY.
This was round 9:
Decided to stay with it for the remaining rounds. On round 10 after 1 rep I thought I’d push it a little and test out 87.5 for a rep. And it came up! Felt like the 85 lol.
WOD (19 mins)
Every minute OTM for 4 Rounds:
Min 1 - 10 Burpee box jump overs
Min 2 - 5 Strict chin ups
Min 3 - 12 Cal bike
Min 4 - 10 Cal row
Min 5 - Rest
All tasks completed within each minute.. Huzzah!
Burpee box jump overs - 20″ height. These were good, all recycled reps and all done under 40 seconds.
Chin ups - Mostly done in singles, a few were done in sets of two.
Bike - The hardest of all movements. Fastest round was done in 31 secs, slowest in 36.
Row - This was good, especially knowing a rest was coming up next. Always managed to finish within 40 secs.
Came mainly to do bench presses. Then came the 5 minutes of burpee box jump overs. The whole time I was doing it my concentration was on NOT busting my behind. I came. I did 17.1. I almost died. 17.1= crossfit open workout which consisted of a lot of dumbbell snatches at 35lbs and a lot of burpee box jump overs... within 20 Minutes or less. I finished with 181 reps and I failed to complete the workout.
