hi! by any chance, are you taking requests rn? just read your office sex piece and i love it so much that i want to request something similar but with mori. and then the s/o is extra daring (almost audacious lol) and more mischievous.
Yes, my requests are always open although it may usually take more time to respond to some. I didn't go for an s/o this time but I hope you still enjoy it♡ It has the spice

I suppose I'll indulge you. After all, you did such a great job.

The Port Mafia didn't usually work with individual assassins, but this situation was different. A highly influential official was sticking his nose in the organization's business and he had to be dealt with. Of course, Mori could use one of his own assassins, but he would risk creating a connection which could be traced back to him. So he decided to commission you for the job.
One morning as you were leaving the house you noticed an envelope in front of your door. You picked it up and gently opened it, procuring the note inside it.
It was handwritten in cursive and contained general information about the job. Your eyes scanned the paper, lingering on the last words:
"Payment will be made after the job is done
at *inserts address*"
A smile rose to your lips as you considered the proposal. Killing a political figure will be quite a challenge, but it will be fun. You quickly contacted your informant and asked for further information about the official. You spent the evening reading articles about him.
'Younger wife, two kids... will be attending the annual gala at Tokyo Imperial Hotel tomorrow night. Easy game' you thought with a smirk
The following day around midnight you parked your car in front of the black building. Following the instructions on the note, you went up to the 19th floor where two armed guards waited for you. They checked for weapons then motioned you towards the black door at the end of the hallway. As you entered the room, the two doors closing behind you with a thud, you heard the voice of a man. He was seated at a mahogany desk in the middle of the room.
"Ah, miss Y/N. I've been waiting for you. I assume the job is completed."
You nodded, procuring your phone from your purse and opening the first news channel.
"Tokyo official found dead earlier this evening in front of the Tokyo Imperial Hotel. The police ruled it as a suicide, the man having jumped from the window of his room" you read out loud.
The man chuckled lowly and intertwined his fingers in front of him.
"That's just marvelous, dear." he said, extending a gloved hand for you to shake "Mori Ōgai. Nice to finally meet you, miss Y/N"
You shook his hand, your eyes taking in his features.
"So, miss. I believe it's time we discuss payment." He reached for one of the drawers of his desk and took out a cheque and a pen. "How much do I owe you?"
You chuckled, resting a hand over the piece of paper. From that angle, your cleavage was on full display for him.
"Didn't you say that you don't want any connections between you and the murder? Money can be traced. What if the police decides to investigate further?"
The man noticed the look of mischief in your eyes, a sinister smile rising to his lips.
"And what do you propose we do about that?"
You leaned forward, your face awfully close to his.
"There are other ways we can settle this"
One of Mori's hands went to your face. His fingers traced the shape of your cheek, tucking a strand of hair being your ear before moving to the back of your head.
"There surely are. Got any ideas?"
He suddenly tugged at your hair, making you yelp.
"And talk fast. I don't have all night" mocked the man
"Well that's too bad, isn't it?" you replied in a honeyed voice.
His piercing gaze followed the line of your neck down to your breasts.
"I suppose I'll indulge you. After all, you did such a great job."
He pulled you forward, pressing your lips against his. The kiss was eager and deep, the taste of his tongue making your head spin.
When he eventually let go of your hair and broke the kiss, he leaned back in his seat, tilting his head.
"What? You gonna make me work for it?" you questioned with a playful rise of your eyebrow.
"Fair enough" he replied
With a swift move he got up from his seat and walked over to you. His hands went to your waist, picking you up with ease and placing you on his desk.
"Since you're such a big girl, tell me what you want me to do to you"
The knot in your belly tightened at the sound of his words. You licked your lips, slowly opening your legs.
"How about you use that tongue of yours for something else?"
He knelt, not breaking eye contact with you.
"As you wish, doll" Mori's lips left kisses along your thighs, biting from place to place and sucking on your skin. As he moved from one thigh to another, his nose would occasionally brush your clothed core, earning a whine from you.
"What, pretty? Don't like being teased?"
"Not at all" you replied sharply.
The man reached for the band of your underwear, sliding them off and discarding them next to him.
Mori's warm tongue slid along your wet core, licking your juices. He removed one of his gloves, his slender fingers tracing your folds.
"So wet for me already..." he uttered before gripping your hips and yanking you closer to him. He moved to your clit, tongue flicking at a merciless pace, a finger sliding inside you. Moans and whines left your lips as your head fell back.
"J-just like that so good"
He wasn't making you see stars but entire constellations, working you so well. Your body shook with each precise thrust of his finger, the knot in your belly tightening.
His tongue suddenly stopped and he got to his feet.
"Did I tell you to stop?" you spoke, grabbing his tie. "You were doing so well"
"I could tell, dear" he teased, scooping you up and walking away from his desk. "But why should you be the only one enjoying yourself?"
Mori placed you down in front of the large window, your heels clacking on the floor as you landed. He pushed you against the cold glass, the sudden change of temperature sending a shiver down your spine, and pushed your legs apart.
His gloved hand moved your dress, exposing your ass.
You could hear the sound of his fly going down, your hips slightly wiggling in expectancy.
"So eager, doll" he teased as his tip rubbed your entrance. "Just tell me when" he whispered in your ear.
"Please, Mori. I want y- ah" You jolted as he went inside. Your legs wobbled as he thrust his hips.
You knew how pathetic you looked, pressed against his window, taking everything he gave you. Tears formed at the corners of your eyes, clouding your vision. Mori's free hand snaked to your neck, seizing your chin.
"Look at the city, dear. You know it's mine, right?"
You nodded slightly as Mori looked at your reflection in the glass, chuckling.
"If only you could see your expression right now. So pretty just for me"
He turned your head over your shoulder, capturing your lips with his. His sudden, hungry kiss made something in you snap. His member was hitting the right spot, pushing you through your orgasm.
He groaned as he felt your walls tighten around him, picking up the pace.
The sound of his hips slapping against yours echoed through the room.
Soon, Mori's thrusts became sloppy, his legs slight shaking as he spilled his cum on your lower back.
He huffed loudly, wiping his seed off of you with his hand.
"Well, this was certainly refreshing" he said in a ragged voice.
You arranged your dress, finally turning to face him. His eyes were glazed with desire and his hair stuck to his forehead from place to place.
"Are you satisfied, miss?"
"Sure, but I wouldn't mind going for another round"
Mori closed the distance between you, cupping your cheek with his clean hand.
"Then come work for me. You can have me whenever you desire. And you'd be a valuable asset to my organization"
"A tempting offer, but I prefer to freelance"
He clicked his tongue in disapproval, slowly pulling away from you.
"Too bad. I would've loved to work with you'
Before leaving, you pressed a kiss to his temple. "If you ever need my services, don't hesitate to contact me" you said with a wink, earning a half smile from the man
"Goodbye, miss"
The black doors closed behind you as you walked down the dark corridor.
Little did you know that Mori was watching you from the window. He took in the shape of your body as you walked to your car, unlocking the doors and getting inside. He rested his forehead against the cold window, following the vehicle drive off until your taillights were engulfed by the dark.

With you, everything's okay (USWNT x ADHD Reader)
This is part 3 of the ADHD reader series. It's kinda long, but hope you enjoy!
Part one
Part two
Words: 4.6K
Due to the Adderall shortage I didn't have much of my medication, which was not great. I was supposed to get a refill a couple of days ago, but I wasn't able to yet. It could be a few days, weeks or months until I got more. Given what's been on the news, it was something I had anticipated so I had a few days worth for when I really needed it. I had a doctors appointment next week to try figure out a different medication, but I was almost tempted to just not do it. When I first got medication for my ADHD it was a long process of dose adjustments, and dealing with side effects. It was mentally and physically draining. It was something I didn't really want to go through again. The headaches and sleepless nights when I didn't take it were bad enough. Though I didn't know how I would cope long term without it.
We had just started another month long camp which made this whole thing just a bit more difficult. Ally wasn't with me and I wasn't sure if or when she would be able to visit. For now I was trying to distract myself. I had spent hours so far scouring the internet and going from jeweler to jeweler with Ali trying to find the perfect ring for Ally. None of them were good enough or matched who Ally was. She didn't like fancy rings with big stones or really any stones. She preferred more plain, flush bands with maybe a tiny stone. Ally deserved more than a plain band though. I just had to find the perfect one.
For the third or maybe fourth time I had dragged Ali out shopping with me. It had probably been hours and I still hadn't found anything that was right. I was starting to get frustrated when Ali literally dragged me away from the mall to the park across the road.
"You need to take a break."
"But-"
"No, you're getting frustrated and irritable so we're taking a break."
My eyes started to water as I hid my face in my hands, "I just want to find the ring she deserves Ali."
Ali sat down beside me, pulling me into her side, "I know and we will. It'll just take some time, it's only been a few weeks since you got engaged. Have you looked into custom design rings?"
I had gotten Ally a cheap ring in the mean time, but I hated that she had to wait for a proper one. "I didn't even think of that."
We went back to the hotel after getting lunch. Since Ali mentioned it, I was itching to look into designer rings. I had briefly on my phone, but Ali quickly stopped me so I would actually eat. It was a free day so I locked myself in my room quickly going down the rabbit hole of custom rings. I spent hours comparing different companies and small businesses, calling or emailing them to figure out more around pricing and what type of designs they could do. I ended up finding a small business that could get it done in about 2-3 weeks once the design was decided on.
The design was the next thing I got lost in. I wanted to get it done as soon as possible so Ally could finally get the ring to go with the proposal. There were a couple of ideas that I was playing around with, but it was hard to choose just one. I don't know how long it had been when my phone rang breaking me out of my fixation. Of course it was a facetime from Ally, her ringtone always brought me back to reality.
Hey baby
Hi
What's got you so distracted that you didn't even look at me? I miss my beautiful smile
I laughed, quickly glancing at her, involuntary smile stretching across my face,Nothing, sorry
Right, I'll pretend I believe you. Did you eat?
It's not dinner yet
Baby, it's 9pm where you are.
No it's no- Oh shit, I got distracted
Ally giggled, the sound making my heart skip a beat. I wished she was here. I figured, Ali is going to bring you something since I know you won't leave whatever it is you're doing.
Thank you Al. Can I ask you something?
Anything
If you had to pick one thing from our relationship, date, holiday, whatever really, what's your favourite thing?
That's a hard one. Do you remember our snowboarding trip?
Our first trip together was a snow boarding trip. We hadn't been together very long and we ended up getting snowed in with no power for 2 nights. All we could do was read, cuddle, play board games, talk and try to keep the fire going. Ally and I had connected from the start, but that trip was a sort of turning point in our relationship. We got to know each other on a deeper level, telling each other all the intimate and deep parts of ourselves. That was when I told her about my adhd, my family, how they acted and how I felt growing up.
It was the first time I ever cried in front of her. There had been a sense of shame wash over me. I wasn't one to cry in front of people, it had been ingrained in me since I was young. Ally had just held me tightly, whispering reassurances then making me laugh harder then I had in a long time. She had never judged me about anything. Sure, occasionally she would tell me I was being stupid, but she always had my back.
Where's that head of yours baby?
Sorry, I was just thinking back to that trip. It was a disaster, but I loved that trip.
Me too. I think that's my favourite
There was a knock on the door before I could reply. My stomach growled when I saw the food Ali was holding. I hadn't realised how hungry I actually was. In all honesty, I probably wouldn't have eaten if Ali hadn't shown up with food,  "Thank you Ali."
"You're welcome. I'm just glad someone could get through to you. We've all been texting and calling you, even knocked on the door. We figured you were asleep or completely zoned out."
"You got Ally to call me?"
"She was already going to. I just asked if she had heard from you. I didn't want to wake you up if you were asleep, I know the last couple of days have been hard."
"I appreciate that. I got stuck into that thing we were talking about. I'll show you later."
Ally and I continued to talk while I kept working on the design and she started to fall asleep. I stayed on the phone with her even after she fell asleep. We had always slept on facetime together when we were apart. It made us feel closer when we couldn't be.
By time 4am rolled around I had finally finished the design idea. I had done a rough sketch, but also described my idea so the person could adjust if needed to what they could do. My design idea was mountains that wrapped around the entire band. A textured sky to resemble a snowy day with a small set diamond to look like the moon and hopefully someway to make the mountains look like it was covered in snow. I didn't know if it was completely possible, but even something remotely like that would be okay. I quickly sent it off before I could overthink and change my mind. I was very glad that we had another day off tomorrow.
---
"Ally!" I ran, jumping in her arms and hugging her tightly. "What are you doing here?"
"Thought I would surprise you again."
"Not that I don't love that you're here, but aren't you busy at work?"
"I am, but I can work remotely now."
"You can? Wait, you got the promotion?" Ally nodded, huge smile on her face as I picked her up and spun her around, kissing her hard. "Oh my god, this is amazing. You are amazing. I am so fucking proud of you Ally."
The girls wandered into the lobby, greeting Ally with quick hugs, "Guys! Ally got the promotion!"
Some of the girls practically jumped on Ally telling her how proud they were. They had even dragged her out for dinner that night saying that we had to celebrate her achievement. Some even going as far as doing speeches. I loved how much they adored Ally, how they had welcomed her into the team without hesitation.
We were lying in bed that night, wrapped up in each other. I brushed a piece of hair out of her face before kissing her softly, "I really am so proud of you Ally. You're amazing. You've worked so hard for this, you deserve this."
"Thank you Y/n. I couldn't have done it without your love and constant support even if my job bores you."
"Yeah well, for you I will go through all the boring shit in life a million times over." I kissed her softly before sighing, "I'm sorry Al."
Ally's forehead creased as her eyebrows drew together, "What are you apologising for?"
"I'm sorry that it's been weeks since I proposed and I haven't gotten you a proper ring yet. You deserve the perfect ring and I'm sorry you don't have it yet."
She smiled softly, cupping my cheek and making me look at her, "Do you remember what I said when you asked me to marry you?" I shook my head. All I remembered was her saying yes and being very excited. "I told you that I don't care about a ring and I meant it. If this was the only ring you got me, I wouldn't care. All I care about is being with you okay?"
"I love you Ally so fucking much. I just- Your ring is on the way, I just don't know when it'll get here."
"It's okay, I already know I'll love it."
---
Arms wrapped around me from behind, kisses being placed along my jaw. I turned my head, connecting our lips in a long kiss as I pulled her round to my lap. Ally squealed against my lips, giving me the opportunity to slip my tongue into her mouth. A breathy moan slipped from Ally as our tongues met. After a couple of seconds, Ally's fingers dug into my shirt as she pushed me away, "We're in the meal room."
"That can be changed besides no one else is here."
"I have a meeting in half an hour so stop being a horndog and show me what had you so focused."
"You can't blame me, you know what your work clothes do to me."
I had been looking at different wedding themes on Pinterest, but I was struggling to find ones that might actually suit Ally and I. We were very simple people, we didn't need anything fancy to be happy. We weren't traditional either. It was something we used to make jokes about, how we would go the complete opposite way, have some random colour instead of white, casual clothes and a barbeque. Just one big party. I didn't know what we were actually going to do. When we talked about it, it was just an idea, far off in the future. Now it was a reality and I was so excited to marry Ally. I knew we actually had to talk about when we wanted to do it, but I couldn't wait to marry her.
I turned my computer so Ally could see, "Anyway, I'm looking at wedding ideas. We should talk about when we want to do it, soon, sooner, soonish, far away, somewhere in the middle. I mean, I'm really fucking excited to marry you, but if you wan-"
"Okay baby, take a breath. You just named three times that are pretty much the same and aren't actually times."
"Sorry, I'm just excited. You know I never thought I would want to get married, let alone be this excited about it."
Ally wrapped her arms around me, kissing my temple, "I know Y/n/n. Don't apologise for being excited, I never meant to make it sound like a bad thing. Trust me, I can't wait to marry you and I love that you are excited to marry me, I would be kind of mad if you weren't."
I giggled, nuzzling my nose against her neck, "So what do you think?"
"Well, I think the sooner the better."
"Exactly what I was thinking. The more I look, the more I'm convinced on a court house wedding. It's such a process."
"A court house wedding would be a lot easier."
"No! you can't have a court house wedding," Kelley yelled making us jump and me glare at her.
---
Today was the worst day yet without my meds. I was exhausted, my head hurt, I was irritable beyond belief, every little sound or touch felt a hundred times worse and I couldn't focus on anything. There had been a very small handful of times in our relationship that I couldn't handle Ally's touch, this was one of those times. It always made me feel like shit, guilty that my own girlfriend couldn't even touch me. That didn't help me feel any better. Ally was always so understanding about it all, reassuring me that it was okay and dealing with my over touching afterwards to make up for it. Today was no different, Ally had been amazing, giving me space, reassuring me.
Ally had brought me lunch so I wouldn't have to be around the team. We were sitting on the floor in silence after eating. Normally, just being near Ally would help but everything was starting to get too overwhelming. I felt like I was about to explode, like any second I would break. And I did. I didn't mean for it to happen, things just boiled over. Ally suggested we go for a walk, she knew it would help, so did I but I couldn't bring myself to leave the room. I ended up snapping at her.
"Come on Y/n/n, you know it'll help."
"Just give it a rest! I don't need you pestering me, I'm not a child, I'm an adult, I can handle this myself. Just back off."
Ally just looked at me for a second before getting up and walking out. I buried my hands in my hair, pulling slightly. Maybe it wasn't the most healthy thing, but it helped ground me. Well normally it would. It helped enough to snap me out of it and realised I fucked up, "Fuck."
Tears fell before I could stop them as I curled up in a ball and cried. I had never snapped at Ally like that before. Sure we had fights occasionally, but there was never yelling. I cried and sobbed, letting everything from the last week or so out. Being off my meds was exhausting, physically but mostly mentally. My mind was almost constantly a mess. It took me back to how I felt growing up. Like I was annoying, a burden, stupid. That the people around me only put up with me because they had to. Ally included.
Once the tears finally stopped, I just lay there staring at the celling. It's like I was stuck there, I knew I had to go find Ally, but I couldn't move. The door opened then I felt someone sit down next to me. I knew it wasn't Ally, she always wore a perfume that I would recoganise instantly.
"What's going on Y/n/n?" Christens soft voice filled the silence.
"It's too much. I-I don't know if I can handle this. I'm just a burden to everyone around me. I fucked up, Ally hates me. It's just too much Chris."
"Y/n Y/l/n you are not a burden. I know things are hard without your medication, but that does not mean you are a burden. We love you, we are here for you okay? I know it's hard, I know it feels overwhelming, but we've got you. We've always got you Y/n. Ally could never hate you, she loves you. Did something happen with her?"
"I fucked up. I snapped at her when she was just trying to help. I've never done anything like that before. I fucked up Chris," My voice cracked, tears somehow welling up again.
Christen pulled me into her. I didn't fight it, instead gripping her shirt tightly as sobbed wracked through me again. She rubbed my back, whispering quiet reassurances. Eventually Christen moved, being replaced by someone else who held me tight, hand slipping under my shirt and drawing patterns along my skin. Perfume overtook my senses, that sweet perfume I knew so well. I sobbed harder, gripping her shirt as if my life depended on it. In a way it did. I couldn't imagine my life without Ally in it. She understood me in a way no one else did, she knew how to calm me down, how to support me, how to make me laugh. Most importantly she loved me despite my flaws.
"I'm sorry Ally, I'm so sorry. Please forgive me, I'm so-"
"Shhh, it's okay, I've got you baby, I've got you."
It took a while, but eventually the tears stopped. I sat up, moving away from Ally to sit against the bed. I felt myself go numb. Over the years, it had become my way to protect my self when things, especially emotions got too much. It hadn't happened in a while. Things were never too much when Ally was around, it was manageable. Right now I didn't know where we stood and I was scared.
I felt two warm hands cup my cheeks and soft lips press against my forehead, "Don't do that. Don't blank out on me. Come back to me."
"W-what are you doing here?"
"Chris texted, she was worried about you, said you needed me."
"You came even after I said what I did."
Ally laced her fingers with mine, "Of course I did. While I didn't appreciate what happened, I know you didn't mean it. Besides, you needed me. I will always be there for you when you need me."
"I'm sorry for snapping at you, I was just so overwhelmed. I don't know if I can do this Al. It's just so much."
She pulled me up, wrapping me tightly in her arms then guiding me so we were cuddled in bed, "I know it's hard baby, I know it's frustrating, but we've got this. I'm right here by your side every step of the way, I'm not going anywhere."
"We're okay?"
"We're okay baby. You owe me a massage though, when you're feeling better to make up for this."
I chuckled, cuddling into her side, my eyes getting heavy, "Deal. I love you Al."
"I love you Y/n. Try and get some sleep. I'm finished work for the day. Chris is going to bring dinner for us a bit later."
---
The ring had just arrived at the hotel and I was scared to open it. I ran straight up to Ali, pulling her away much to the confusion of Ally and everyone else. I shoved the package at her, making her stumble back a bit.
"Calm down a bit Y/n/n. What is it?"
"The ring. Can you open it? I'm kinda scared."
Ali carefully opened the package then the box. I was way more nervous than I expected to be. I had spent so long trying to find the perfect ring, I guess I was worried this wouldn't be it, that it wasn't anything close to what I was hoping for.
"This is beautiful Y/n. It's perfect."
I slowly took the box from Ali, freezing when I saw it. It was exactly what I had envisioned. Seeing the ring felt like a weight had been lifted. After spending so much time searching, I finally had the ring Ally deserved. Thoughts of her not liking it tried to creep in, but I managed to push them away. I knew Ally would like it. "It's exactly what I wanted. It came out way better than I expected."
"So are you just going to give it to her? Or do another proposal?"
"I'm not sure. I was kind of thinking about proposing again just for the fun of it. The original proposal wasn't that special."
"I think you'll find to Ally it was. Even if it wasn't extravagant, it was just the two of you. Personal and intimate."
"Probably. Let's be honest, I just want to spoil her. Can you hold onto this for me? I'm terrified of losing it."
Ali wrapped her arm around me, trying not to laugh, "Of course I will. Let me know if you need help planning it. Let's get back before they start to question it."
Ally was going to say yes. Knowing that let the excitement bubble up instead of the nerves. I was incredibly excited to propose to her, the plan was already coming together in my mind. I didn't want to wait, all going well it was going to happen tonight.
Once we got back, I beelined to Ally, "I have two questions. First, will you go on a date with me tonight? Second, do you want to go make out?"
"Yes and definitely yes."
---
Since we started dating, picnics were a big part of our relationship. We both had jobs that meant we dealt with a lot of people. Picnics were the way we escaped reality and people without being inside or around our flat mates at the time. I figured there was no better place to propose then on a picnic.
Because our date was last minute and we had practice today, I hadn't had enough time to set up the picnic. Ali had agreed to set up the picnic while I took Ally bowling. She loved bowling and it gave time to set everything up. Ally had won by a lot which was not a surprise, I sucked at bowling. Of course she had gloated about it, but with the proud smile she wore, I couldn't even be annoyed.
Before we left, I had texted Ali to make sure everything was set up so we didn't get there too early. I was driving when the reply came in. Ally went to check like normal, but I quickly stopped her, much to her confusion.
"You can't check that one, it'll ruin the surprise." I pulled over checking the message, making sure to hide it from Ally. Thankfully she didn't question it.
Ali: Food took longer then planned, just picked it up, need 10 minutes to finish everything. Also found the perfect place to film it.
Ally was wearing a grey sweater, white blouse underneath with the collar showing and black jeans. I don't know what it was, but I found her incredibly attractive when she wore stuff like that. It was mostly for work which is why I got kicked out when she was working. I couldn't keep my hands to myself. "So we need to kill 10 minutes. You look incredibly beautiful so lets make out."
"Yeah okay."
Ali had set up a blanket on the beach with candles, rose petals and a small speaker for music. Instead of doing the classic picnic foods, I got Ali to pick up some Thai food because it was Ally's favourite and another one of our traditions.
I watched Ally's eyes light up as we approached the picnic, "Baby, this is beautiful. How did you set this up?"
"I may have gotten Ali to help set it up. You like it?"
"You don't even have to ask, I love everything you do. This is perfect baby. Is that Thai? I'm starving."
I had planned to do the proposal first for 3 reasons. I was terrified of losing the ring, it was likely I would get more nervous as time went on and Ali was waiting to film it. "It is, you need to wait a minute before we eat."
I found the ring before taking Ally's hand, "Growing up I never thought I would find someone who loved me so unconditionally, who loved me as I was. Who would stick by me and support me through everything. But I did. I found you and I never want to lose you. I want you, no I need you by my side for the rest of my life. I love you Ally, more than you will ever know. I know you've already said yes, but I wanted to do this properly." I sunk down on one knee, opening the box, "Will you marry me Ally?"
"Yes, a million times yes." I easily slipped the ring onto her finger watching her eyes widen as she looked at the ring closer. "Holy shit Y/n, this is amazing. Where did you find it?"
"I designed it. It's based on the snowboarding trip."
"Just when I thought I couldn't love you more, you prove me wrong. You are amazing baby. Words can't describe how much I love this. I want this to be my wedding ring as well. It's too perfect to just be an engagement ring. Is that allowed?"
"We can do whatever we want. Ali filmed that by the way, I wanted it for our memories."
---
Ally and I were looking at wedding ideas together for the first time. At first I was slightly worried that we weren't going to be on the same page, that it might cause fights. I had seen it happen to couples before. I quickly realised that it was a pointless worry, we were on the same page about everything so far. We wanted simple, non-traditional.
We had started looking at things we would need for the wedding, such as the venue and catering. Everything we had looked at so far was expensive, which I guess wasn't that much of a surprise, everyone always says weddings are expensive.
I sighed, pushing the laptop away and turning to Ally, "Why are weddings so expensive? Like I know we can afford it, but it just seems like a waste."
"I know, it's just one day, we could use that money towards our honeymoon or a house."
I straddled Ally, hiding my face against her shoulder. As much as I loved planning things, without my meds, even that was slightly overwhelming after a bit of time. There were so many options and things to consider, "We could do a backyard wedding. Ali and Ash might let us use their place if we asked nice enough."
"Of course we would." I jumped, turning around to find them both standing there.
"I swear the word wedding is like a magnet for all of you. Every time it's mentioned, someone shows up."
"Well you guys keep talking about it in places where there's a high likely hood of someone being around. Anyway, we would love to have your wedding at our place if that's what you wanted."
Reluctantly, I climbed off Ally, moving to stand by Ali and Ash, "You would really do that for us?"
Ali smiled softly, pulling me in for a hug, "Of course we will kiddo. You're family. You're family too Ally."
I noticed Ally trying to hide her smile. No matter how much they showed they loved her or treated her like part of the team, I still got the same warm, almost ecstatic feeling. To me the team was family. The fact that they saw Ally as family was really important to me. "We're not planning anything over the top or even overly traditional, just simple with friends and family."
"Are your parents going to be there?" Ashlyn tried to hide the annoyance in her voice when mentioning my parents, but it didn't work. I wasn't surprised by it, when they found out what it was like for me growing up, they were pissed.
I had opened up to them about a lot of things, especially Ali, but besides vague information about how they treated me, my parents never really came up. "No, I um cut them off about 3 years ago. They were just destroying my mental health. Ally's parents will be there though, they pretty much took me in."
"They like you more than me sometimes."
"Well we can't wait to meet them."

WARNING: mentions of death (not main characters)

Tumblr media
who knew you’d partner up with park sunghoon to fool the fuck out of your crush and classmates?
ah and romin’s girlfriend. you were waiting to crush her soul. as morbit as it sounds, she did after all get back with your best friend. even if they did end their relationship in a horrible way.
talk about toxic exes. you couldn't understand why romin would even get back with her.
you were sure she was extremely cocky, thinking she has the upper hand by getting back with the person you liked. too bad though, you had the most perfect plan to crush her. you had the rich CEO boyfriend card, you had the upper hand and you were going to use that card extremely well.
sunghoon stops the car perfectly beside you. he goes out to help you place your luggages in and drives off once you had settled in the car.
"so, how do you want to fool them? we need to make them think you are utterly obsessed with me." you say. sunghoon snickers.
"you don't have to worry about a damn thing. i'll play my role well."
"i don't believe you one bit but sure, whatever floats your boat, mr.park."
he lets out a chuckle. the place was a 3 hour drive from seoul. the nearer you arrive at your destination, the more nerves you got. sunghoon noticed that and so he hands you a lollipop. you tilt your head.
"it's cherry flavoured. it was my childhood candy i had whenever i got nervous or scared at the doctor's. my mom used to give them to me before she-" he pauses. you notice how he was keeping silent, grabbed the lollipop and opened it up. right after, you popped the candy into your mouth.
"thanks."
"any time."
the conversation didn't continue further, just the sound of the radio soaking up the silence. about 30 minutes later, the both of you had finally arrived at the destination. luckily for you, you had already checked in to the hotel room. sunghoon's room was just across from yours. there was a small balcony and so you decided to bask in the view.
however, it was cut short when rain started pouring out of nowhere. you went back in and shut the balcony door. it was almost time to meet up with those girls. which meant you had to get ready. it took you about 20 minutes to done. the rain was unfortunately not stopping. the girls had texted about 5 minutes ago on the change of venue and so you went to tell sunghoon.
you knocked and clicked on the doorbell 3 times but to no avail, sunghoon didn't open the door.
was he sleeping?
you texted him but he didn't reply. you remembered that in case of any emergency, sunghoon and you exchanged the extra room key. you tapped the card and unlocked the door. thunder rumbling and the heavy rain pouring in the background.
you realised the balcony door to sunghoon's room was wide open. you went to shut it but he was nowhere to be found.
"sunghoon?"
"hey, we have to leave soon!"
"park sunghoon??"
the bathroom door was shut. as if someone was inside, okay maybe he was in the bathroom and you just didn't notice. you knocked on the door.
"sunghoon?"
"yah, are you shitting right now?"
"bad tummyache?"
"do you want me to get medicine for you or something?"
"no." you hear him voice out. his voice sounded weak, you could hear a little tremble.
"hey, are you really okay? you sound-"
"please just leave."
"but you don't sound-"
"LEAVE!" he yells.
you flinched. you left his room hesitantly, you knew better than to meddle with his business. after all, you two barely knew each other. since you couldn't tell him about the change in location, you had texted him about it.
you: i'm sorry if i overstepped your boundaries. i won't ask about what happened to you. i just came over to tell you that due to the weather, the girls had moved the meet up to the hotel's banquet. you don't have to go if you're not feeling well, i'll just make up an excuse that my boyfriend wasn't feeling too well.
you: take care though.
you hit send and left for the meet up. sunghoon's phone lights up, he reads the message. a tear rolls down his cheek as he hugs his knees tightly to his chest. he feels his body shaking as he remembers the incident.
the incident that led to his mom's death.
"(name) it's great to you again!" one of the girls squeak.
"great to see you again."
"unfortunate how yujin couldn't make it due to her work."
"right, it's really unfortunate."
"anyways, she mentioned that you had a boyfriend."
"yes, we heard you actually brought him here."
"mhm, where is he?"
her, your main target for today. the girl who has ruined your chances with romin. honestly, you could care less about him. he already lost his chance. it's time you moved on anyways. besides, there was already someone you'd rather pick.
"he is-"
you felt an arm slung around you.
"sorry I had a very important call to pick up. i'm not too late, right?"
you turned to face sunghoon. he had a smirk right across his face, his stupidly handsome face. you turned back to look at your friends. they were all in shock.
just how you planned.
everyone settles down and ordered their own food. you were shocked at the prices of the food. it was way over your budget. you looked up at sunghoon.
"it's expensive, are you sure i can ingest this?" you whisper. sunghoon snickers.
"what's so funny?"
> you are now watching sunghoon's 3 step guide to wooing fake girlfriend's friends
step 1: show off how much you love her
"nothing. just a small inside joke i have with my girl.
you could hear small gasps. seems like sunghoon was playing his role well.
step 2: the money, women love that. they will definitely be jealous
"i've noticed the food here is a little overpriced." sunghoon says.
"right, omg. i agree."
"nothing a little card can't fix." sunghoon shows off his black credit card. once again, they gasp. romin's ex girlfriend, harin, rolls her eyes and scoffs.
you hid your face. sunghoon coos at you.
"is my girl a little shy?"
"sunghoon, i need to run to the bathroom."
"oh i see." you stood up but sunghoon does the same.
3rd step: show off your loyalty ;)
"what if you get hurt, love? i won't forgive myself." sunghoon slings his arm around yours as he clings to you.
it was like you could imagine puppy ears animated onto him. what was this? a webtoon? you shook your head.
the girls were melting. how could hook such a fine gentleman. however, clearly someone wasn't too happy.
once dinner time was over, everyone decides to leave (not before paying of course).
"we had such an amazing time today. (name), you really caught the most perfect guy ever." you smiled at her words.
"well, it's late. i am sure you ladies need to sleep, my girl needs her beauty rest."
"oh of course, hope you two have a great sleep." they wink. you gave them a fake smile and pulled sunghoon away from them.
"good job fooling them. i think they really like you."
"that's a relief." you made it at the front of your hotel room door.
"hey, umm-nevermind. sleep well, they may just out of nowhere plan something. i'll text you if anything happens." you say. just as you were about to leave, sunghoon grabs your wrist.
"how about i plan something fun for them. after all, i heard romin is coming tomorrow. we need to fool him too."
"what do you mean?"
you were not expecting the next thing that happened the morning after.

➺ MAIN MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
Like any other tourist, Park Seonghwa was after the picturesque view of the cliff-top town.
It just so happened that the moment he was adjusting his camera’s focus, you stood in front of him, the side of your face occupying his lens; windswept hair tucked beneath your fingers while you used your other hand to type away on your phone. He didn’t miss the furrow of your brows, the way your bottom lip was caught under your front teeth, the creases on your forehead imitating an obvious look of worry.
And before he could say anything else, wanting to ask if you were alright, you already took notice of the stunned tourist on your left, making you mumble a quick apology with wide eyes. Not wanting to miss the chance, Seonghwa flashed you a smile– a really mesmerizing one— and told you with a laugh that it’s okay.
That encounter was supposed to be one kept as a fleeting memory in some mere tourists’ minds, but it seemed as though fate had its own plans.
The town of Oia is popularly known for its scenic sunsets. Everybody recommended going for a lazy afternoon stroll and finding a ‘sunset spot’ as early as one can, as it gets extremely busy in the late afternoon.
But the thing was, you weren’t exactly a fan of huge crowds, nor were you really obsessed with seeing the sunset of high repute. If anything, you wanted to see how the sun rises.
For some reason, sunrises bring a huge spark of hope within you, and you’ve always made it a routine to walk outside, stand there in silence, and contemplate on how you can start anew and make life more confounding for you.
But on that one summer morning, you weren’t alone on the balcony like you were back in the city. You climbed up the crumbly cliff past the cave-like hotels, and far to your right stood the only person alongside you who chose to watch the sun rise. It takes you one (and a half) glance to realize that he’s the tourist with a cute cat-eye smile from the day before— cup of coffee on one hand, camera on the other… and a very charming smile.
All it took was for Seonghwa to lower his camera, flash you a grin and laugh, for you to know that, that very vacation will be nothing like you’ve ever experienced before.
And guess what, that cute tourist happens to be holding your hand in his hand at the very moment, five years after that fateful encounter— numbing fingers entwined with yours as you lazily walk, empty popsicle sticks in your free hands.
The 3 AM breeze feels chilly against your skin, but the gentle rub that Seonghwa places on the back of your palm makes you feel warm in a lot of ways. Swiftly, he pulls your entwined hands up, bringing your hand to his lips as he presses a chaste kiss onto it.
“That’s weird, you don’t want to grab some wine,” You mumble with a grin, kicking a pebble as you walk. “We’ve been doing that for years.”
The man chuckles, though it’s short enough to let you know that it doesn’t appear as a surprise to him, and that he’s rather aware of what he’s doing. It’s his first time refusing to grab a tipple at Santo’s Winery, which is a shocker because it’s the very thing you’d never miss aside from sunrises.
Chucking your empty popsicle sticks onto a nearby bin, he turns to wink at you. “I’ll need to keep my sober state if you don’t want us to drown in the middle of the sea.”
Promptly, you raise a brow in question, cocking your head as he wiggles his eyebrows at you.
“What are we going to do in the middle of the sea?” You ask, looking around though there’s not much to see in the dim of the middle of the night. “I mean, at this hour?”
The doubt in your voice almost pleads for him to not be thinking about swimming as early as three in the morning— it’s awfully chilly for that. But it doesn’t seem to be much of a problem to your boyfriend, for he only shrugs, turning his head to look up ahead at the horizon.
It’s only by then when you realize that after half an hour of what you thought was mindless wandering, he brought you to the docks, where most boats are tucked safely in the corners for the rest of the night, resting for tomorrow morning’s bookings.
Most, because one yacht decorated with fairy lights suddenly comes sailing in to stop in front of the wooden platform, and you’re pretty sure it’s not just drifting afloat all by itself.
Seonghwa lets go of your hand for the first time this evening, standing on the edge of the dock before turning his back against the broad of the horizon.
“Sail around Santorini.” He grins proudly, his smile so beautiful it’s enough to make you feel warm and fuzzy on the inside.
“Hwa, you—” you stutter as you walk towards him, gaze traveling past him to take a brief glance at the sailing yacht. “How did you—”
“Babe, we’ve been coming and going for five years,” He chuckles right before turning his body slightly to face the vehicle. “Making friends doesn’t sound really impossible.”
With this, a familiar middle-aged, blonde-haired man comes peeking out from the cockpit, removing his hat and waving at you.
“Ya sou, y/n!” He greets, giving you a wide grin, and your hand flies up to cover your mouth in glee.
“Nico!” You gasp, smiling widely at his presence. “I missed you!”
“I missed you too, my friend!” He chuckles, giving you and Seonghwa a wink. “Now let’s get the two of you sailin’!”
Nico is one of Santorini’s many friendly locals who have grown closer to you and Seonghwa over time. He’s the same person who drove the boat you and Seonghwa toured in together when you were both ignorant of each other’s presence and identity, and he’s the same person who has witnessed your yearly visits together.
With an enamored grin, you take Seonghwa’s hand giddily and chuckle. You couldn’t even find the right words to tell him how you feel, though the smile on your face is enough to tell him that you’re over the moon about his surprise.
“You don’t have to worry ‘bout the wine, babe, you know I’ll never miss the wine.” He says, free hand ruffling your hair. “I’ve got them on board.”
Seonghwa finally pulls you to the yacht, hopping in first before carefully leading you to come down. Clumsily, you end up bumping into his chest, though you both laugh it off because he catches you, anyway.
He always does.
After having a quick chat with Nico, Seonghwa brings you to the deck, where your eyes widen upon seeing a comfortable, plush, u-shaped sofa with vintage cushion throws above it; lit candles and glasses of wine on the built-in table in the middle. Catching your reaction, Seonghwa hums and sits on the sofa, then taps the space beside him for you to slip into.
“So… you’re telling me that I’ve got a hot boyfriend, who’s spending time with me in Santorini, who prepared some wine, some early breakfast, and on a yacht too?”
You gawk, turning your head to look at Seonghwa with an impressed gaze, though he merely throws his arm behind you on the backrest of the sofa, hand squeezing your shoulder as he keeps you pressed to his chest. “Wow, I must’ve saved the world in my past life.”
“You forgot something,” He mumbles, eyes boring into yours as a lop-sided grin ever so slightly appears on his lips. “You get a sweet kiss on a yacht too.”
“Mmhm? I don’t think I—” Seonghwa cuts you off with just a little lean, pressing his lips against yours in the subtlest way possible.
You smile into the kiss, returning his kisses happily while your hand starts to find its way to cup his jaw. It’s his turn to smile, lips stretching briefly before he goes back to kissing you, deeper this time, his lips beginning to feel harsher against yours as he pulls you closer to him by placing his hand on the small of your back.
Little by little, you feel his hand loosening around your back though it goes lower, and you chuckle just when you feel him bite your bottom lip, hand quickly taking a hold of his before it could go somewhere else, and you intertwine your fingers with his instead.
“God, keep your hands to yourself, Hwa. We’re on a yacht.” You laugh after seeing his narrowed eyes, and you try to make it up to him by placing a kiss on the back of his palm.
He gives you a do-i-look-like-i-care-look (that he most probably learned from Hongjoong), unmoving from his spot, as if he’d made his mind up of wanting to do something about the tension. Even though you would never give in to him anyway— at least not in this yacht— you play along.
You raise a brow,  “What if it topples down?”
“You mean what if we’re the reason there will be huge waves early in the morni—”
“You little shit—” You cut him off before he could finish, a chuckle gracing the end of your sentence when you see him laugh as well. “Nico’s just in the cockpit, you better behave.”
You mumble, free hand coming up to gently poke the tip of his nose and squish his cheek before placing a quick kiss on his forehead. Then, you situate yourself back in between his arms as you both stare at the brightening horizon in front of you. Releasing a contented sigh, you start to drift off to reminisce your memories, though you feel Seonghwa’s loving gaze on the side of your face.
A few seconds of silence pass, then you speak up in a gentle voice.
“Do you remember the day when we first decided to go around Santorini together after making friends with each other on the Balcony that one sunrise? I think I fell in love with you exactly on that day.”
Seonghwa snorts, fiddling with your fingers with a fond smile, reminiscing the memory. “After what, seeing my washboard abs?”
“Mmh, I must admit, I kind of began crushing on you after seeing those abs,” You grimace, narrowing your eyes while glancing back and forth his clothed torso and handsome face playfully. “But… I’m also not kidding when I say that I began to fall for you after spending just one day with you. You’re that loveable, Hwa. You’re just… amazing, really, in lots of ways. At that time, I felt like you’ll be so good as a lover, and that you would be so great to love. And you know what? I was right after all.”
You pause, smiling up at him with an obviously lovestruck look on your face. “Loving you and getting loved by you is one of the finest things in life others can only wish to have.”
Seonghwa feels like he wants to kiss you again, but he’s too busy repeating your words inside his head that he couldn’t help but just feel abashed for a moment. Oftentimes, he’s the one who takes good care of his friends and family, so when he hears these sort of words from you, he feels like he wants to curl into a ball and cry.
Oh to love, and to be loved even more.
“And during our last days on vacation when we told each other to come on the same day every year just to meet, for the sake of being sappy?” Your voice cuts through his thoughts, and after a few seconds of processing your words, Seonghwa snorts— the distant memory coming off as hilarious now that he thinks of it.
“That was such a ‘before sunrise’ wannabe!”
“I know! But whose idea was it?” You tease, nudging him playfully for his sappiness. He looks up at you, shrugging with no remorse, although there’s a faint blush on his cheeks.
“But we made it happen anyway, didn’t we?”
“For just one time!” You laugh, throwing your head back, and Seonghwa’s shoulders jerk when he holds his laugh back in. “Your impatient ass literally couldn’t stand it after that second yearly sappy meeting of ours. Months after that and I find you knocking on my door in my hometown.”
He shakes his head, and although his cheeks and ears are burning crimson now, he feels rather proud of himself.
“What can I say? I really love you and the uncertainty of you not being snatched by another person nearer to you was killing me.” Seonghwa tilts his head cockily. “At least we’re coming back to Santorini every year together, not just having some kind of yearly meetups.”
“I know,” You say, letting go of his hand to reach over for the nicely-filled glasses of wine, taking one for yourself and handing him the other. “And for once I have to thank your temper and impatience because if you didn’t look for me and come to me on your own accord, we wouldn’t be here right now.”
“Cheers to Seonghwa’s temper.” He playfully says, and believe it or not, you actually toast to it. Your glasses clink and you take a sip, side-eyeing each other as contented smiles appear on your lips.
“This is new.” You mumble immediately after gulping the liquid down. “I like it.”
“It is,” He says, swirling the liquid around the glass that confines it. “Thought I’d switch it up a bit to make it even more special.”
With a snort, you lower your chin, faking a pout as you look at him.
“You know I’d take anything you give, even if it’s doing nothing but falling asleep on our floaties in the sea under the terrible heat of the noon sun and then getting a bad burn.” He laughs at your sneaky reference to today’s earlier events. “So I don’t understand what’s all this for.”
“For you.” He says, looking at you from the brim of his glass as he downs his remaining wine, right before setting the glass down onto the table. “But now that you’ve mentioned the burns, are you okay now?”
You shake your head along with a dismissive wave. “Yeah, don’t worry.”
“I’ve got some—” He pauses and shifts on his seat, reaching behind the sofa to grab a little basket. “Some aloe gel here somewhere.”
He finally sees the aloevera gel he’s looking so badly for, hastily opening the lid and squeezing some onto his palm, right before slightly moving the cloth on your shoulder to gently rub the cool gel onto the sunburns.
“Thanks, love.” You say, staring at him quietly as he focuses on his self-proclaimed task. As he finishes, he places a quick peck on your forehead before returning the aloe vera bottle from its previous place
“The sun’s starting to rise,” You gasp, setting your wineglass down to rush to the deck’s front railing. Seonghwa gives Nico a nod, and they both smile at each other, your grip tightening against the metal rails as the yacht slightly moves closer to the horizon as if it has an end.
“Oh so we’re going to be a titanic wannabe now, too.” Seonghwa mumbles from behind when you extend your arms sideward, feeling the cool air blow against your skin. He wraps his arms around you, resting his chin on top of your shoulder.
“It’s so beautiful…” You breathe, taking in the scenery in front of you.
“Sunrises signify new beginnings, don’t they?” He mumbles, eyes looking up ahead, a sly grin on his lips.
“Mmhm,” You place your arms limp atop his and rub circles on his skin.
It’s silent for a while— just the waves crashing, the birds cawing, and the low rumble of the yacht’s engine. The sky is painted with oranges and yellows, the warmth of the heat of the sun slowly creeping onto your skin.
But Seonghwa begins steadying his breathing, and before you know it, he’s pressing his chin onto the shell of your ear.
“Do you want to. . .” he trails off, and you feel his heartbeat getting quicker by the second against his chest that’s pressed against your back.
“Start a new beginning with me?”
Before you could ask further for what he means, his fingers come into view, a circle perfectly encapsulating the round of the sun as it rises— only, that above the circle is the sunrise ruby that you perfectly recognize.
You gasp, abruptly turning in his arms. He removes his arms around you and backs away a little, staring at the ring in his hand before looking back up at you.
“I’ve always thought of what to tell you when this day comes, but even after so long, I’ve come up with nothing at all.” He says, free hand coming up to bashfully scratch his nape.
“And y/n, I may sound dumb, or cheesy, or maybe both, but I just know that for as long as the sun rises, I promise you that I will be here to love you and be with you in every step of the way.”
He inhales a deep breath, and the shakiness as he does so makes tears pool at the corners of your eyes.
“For as long as the sun rises, I want to be your best friend, your soulmate, your lover, and your family. Every day, when the sun shines, I want to wake up and see you by my side. I want to love you, be there for you and with you until the end of time, until my day sets and I heave my very last breath.” He says, biting on his bottom lip as his eyes turn shimmery, lips quivering as he sighs with a smile.
“Will you…” He gulps, and it’s as if everything is in slow motion when he gets down on one knee, the sun siding with him as the orange hues that fill the sky shines before him. “Will you watch every single sunrise with me until the sunset of our lives, y/n?”
Finally, the tears come running down your cheeks as you look at the love of your life.
The one you’ll spend your whole life with, be happy and sad with, cry and laugh with.
The one who will watch all the sunrises with you until the sunsets of your lives.
“Yes, Hwa,” You give him a huge smile and nod. “I’ll marry you.”
Seonghwa finally releases the breath he’s holding and bursts into a fit of tears— though he tries his best to slip the ring on your finger and stand to pull you into a sweet kiss without shaking like a feather.
You feel it all— the rays of the sun on the side of your face, your fiancé's lips on yours, the warmth of his body, the tears on his cheeks. And you will continue to— over and over again each and every day for as long as the sun rises— and you wouldn’t want to have it any other way.

Bruised Fruit Chapter 2 (Michael Corleone x OC)
Tumblr media
Summary: Gloria isn't sure she'll ever understand Michael, experiencing a rollercoaster of emotions and mixed signals from him the night he introduces her to his children for the first time.
Note: Chapter 3 will be posted in the next few days. I appreciate the support on here and AO3 on this series so far!
Warning: This chapter depicts a PTSD-induced night terror at the end. It’s actually not advised to wake someone from that, but this is the 1950s/60s and mental illnesses aren’t well understood, so there’s no way for Gloria to know best practices when dealing with this.
Do not interact if you are under 18 or post thinspo/ED content. I will block you.

“I don’t understand, the reservation should be there,” Gloria said, trying to abate her frustration with the man at the front desk. “It was confirmed last night.”
Having spent five years working at a resort, she knew how hectic it could get, things fell through the cracks all the time. She just wished it hadn’t been right after she cleaned out her apartment, worked her last shift at the casino, and then drove eight hours from Vegas to Lake Tahoe.
Tom had assured her the reservation had been made and she’d be staying at the hotel for a few weeks. He’d been dealing with Michael’s divorce filings and thought that despite Kay’s transgression, it wouldn’t look great for Michael to have Gloria move in so soon. Michael wanted her to join him at the Corleone compound the night after he proposed, but she insisted it’d be too hard on Mary and Anthony to have someone brand new in the house so soon after Kay’s exile. Gloria could just see it, the fear and anger in the childrens’ eyes as their wicked stepmother moved in to take their beloved mother’s place.
“What name did you say the room would be under, ma’am?”
“Marino, Gloria Marino.”
“I don’t see Marino, but I do see a reservation for a Gloria Corleone.”
She sighed. “That would be it. Sorry.”
“Not a problem, Mrs. Corleone. Let me get you your key, and I’ll have someone bring your things to your room.”
Not Mrs. Not quite yet, but she didn’t have the energy to explain the convoluted situation. It wasn’t his business. Instead, she merely exchanged her car keys for the room key. Normally she’d balk at using valet service, but that, among most other things in her life, wouldn’t be coming out of her own pocket anymore.
She never understood Michael’s hang-ups about her cars. One of the reasons she lived in her old apartment in the first place was because it had a private garage rather than a parking lot for tenants. Another thing that she knew would undoubtedly change. The Corleones had drivers.
She didn’t have much time to ponder Michael and his odd hang-ups. In about an hour, a car would arrive to pick her up and bring her to a restaurant to formally meet Anthony and Mary. Her stomach was already somersaulting, leaving her unsure if she’d even be able to eat.
In her anxious mind, the only way Michael could possibly introduce her would be, ‘Hey kids, this is the woman I’ve been cheating on your mom with for the past four years who somehow has nothing to do with the reason we’re getting divorced.’ What an icebreaker.
Gloria headed up to her room, a top floor suite with a living room and balcony. In the reflective metal of the elevator doors, she reapplied her lipstick. Her bags had already been brought in, sitting next to the couch.
A cigarette hung from her freshly red-coated lips as she fiddled with the radio in the room until she landed on a station that played familiar rock n’ roll tracks. Opening her suitcase, she grabbed the navy wrap dress that sat neatly folded at the top, and rushed to change, knowing sprucing up her hair and makeup would take at least thirty minutes. Most of that would be spent on her hair.
As she looked at herself in the bathroom mirror, she felt herself become emotional. Gone was the young woman who’d taken any odd back-of-house job upon first arriving at the casino in Vegas, eventually becoming a hostess. There was nothing left for her there, save for a handful of friends. Any other guys she had been seeing, however casually, she made a clean break from. None of those paramours had been nearly as serious as Michael, though. She didn’t think anyone could be as serious as him.
Torn from her wistful reminiscing by the phone ringing, she took a deep breath, picking up to hear that the car had arrived for her.
Al Neri was waiting in the lobby for her, and she felt better seeing his familiar face.
“Hi Al, how are you?” she asked as they exchanged a greeting kiss on the cheek.
“Can’t complain,” he said. “Michael’s already at the restaurant with his kids. It’s a short drive, though.”
Al wasn’t exaggerating. The drive was disappointingly short, and she barely got to catch up with her fiancé’s right hand man. For as often as she’d seen Al, she didn’t know very much about him. Maybe he preferred to keep it that way.
The upscale steakhouse loomed in front of Gloria as she approached, though the smell coming from the building made her realize how hungry she was. Gloria self-admittedly had an unsophisticated palette, preferring cheeseburgers and steaks over more elaborate dishes that Michael first tried to woo her with at the start of their affair. It helped that apparently Michael’s children were going through their picky eater phases, leaving him outnumbered when it came to restaurant choices.
She didn’t realize how tightly she’d been gripping her purse until her nails began digging into her palm. Stopping in her tracks for a short moment, she took a deep breath, which did little to help her nerves as she continued inside. The host led her over to the table where Michael was already sitting with Mary and Anthony.
Seeing that a glass of rum and Coke was already set at her place for her, she mouthed a silent “Thank you” to Michael as she approached him. He smiled, wrapping his arm around her waist.
“Anthony, Mary, this is my good friend, Gloria,” Michael said.
Gloria smiled. “It’s great to meet you both.”
“Are you best friends?” Mary asked.
“Uncle Tom is dad’s best friend,” Anthony said.
“My best friend is Anthony!”
“You’re not my best friend.”
“Dad, tell Anthony he has to be my best friend.”
Gloria snickered to herself at Mary’s antics, not unlike she and Jackie growing up. The gregarious young girl led most of the conversation, even when dinner was served. She was the only one who could seem to get Anthony involved in any kind of discussion, too.
The service was unusually quick, but of course it would be. Gloria knew the type of warning the staff were given before Michael’s arrival, having heard it plenty of times herself for the various movers and shakers that would come through the casino. The only ones she’d given much of a damn about were Louis Prima and Keely Smith, and even then, she only caught a glimpse of them yakking it up with Johnny Fontaine at the bar.
“I’m gonna be president!” Mary exclaimed, nearly flinging the french fry in her hand across the table. “I’m gonna make bedtimes illegal and you always have to eat dessert before dinner.”
“You have my vote,” Gloria said.
“No, Gloria needs a bedtime. She turns into a pumpkin after midnight like Cinderella,” Michael joked.
Mary giggled. “The carriage turns into a pumpkin after midnight. Not Cinderella.”
“Boys just don’t know anything about princesses, huh?” Gloria said. “Maybe you’ll have to bring your dad to Disneyland to teach him a thing or two.”
Mary nodded excitedly, rambling about a trip to Disneyland. Michael shot Gloria a playful glare. She took a sip of her drink, relieved Mary seemed to like her enough. She already noticed that Anthony hardly spoke since she arrived, his eyes downcast as he picked at his food. From what Michael had told her, he’d taken the split worse than Mary, who was a bit too young to fully understand.
Despite Michael’s unspoken goal of his kids regarding Gloria as a mother figure and forgetting about Kay, it wasn’t something Gloria was comfortable with. She knew he was coming from a place of hurt and anger, but his relationship with his kids would suffer long-term by turning them against their mother. Besides, one day they’d learn the truth about Michael and Gloria’s relationship, and their opinions of her wouldn’t be very high after that.
She couldn’t let that stop her from trying to have some kind of relationship with the kids, at least for Michael’s sake.
“How about you, Anthony?” Gloria asked. “What do you wanna be when you grow up?”
He shrugged. “I don’t know. I like baseball.”
“Who’s your favorite player?”
“Mickey Mantle.”
“What about Joe D?” Michael asked.
“He doesn’t play anymore.”
“My dad has a baseball signed by him,” Gloria tried. “He won it in a raffle, though. I don’t think they’ve ever met.”
Anthony didn’t respond, disinterested in continuing the conversation. She wouldn’t push it, instead letting Mary change the topic to the latest episode of ‘The Mickey Mouse Club’, deciding that if being president didn’t work out, she’d want to be a Mouseketeer instead.
Dinner pushed on through dessert, each of the kids ordering brownies a la mode. Gloria and Michael stuck with coffee, hers with cream and no sugar, while he drank his black. She never understood how he could stomach it, even with his blood sugar.
Al walked over to Michael, leaning down to whisper something to him.
“Alright kids, time to go,” Michael said, standing to help them put their coats on. “Say good night to Gloria.”
“Night Gloria,” Mary said, waving at her with a smile.
Anthony was quiet until Michael nudged him. “Bye.”
“Good night,” Gloria said, watching fondly as Michael gave each of his children a hug and a kiss on the cheek before they left with Al.
Gloria took a cigarette from her purse, placing it between her lips. Before she could grab the book of matches off the table, Michael held out his lighter mere centimeters from her cigarette, the flame deceivingly large in front of her face. She moved back, and he flicked the lighter shut.
“Where are Mary and Anthony off to?”
“Connie’s watching them for me tonight.”
“Oh, you’re slick. Do the doting dad thing, and then I’ll fall into your bed.”
“You already do that,” he said with a slight smile, lighting his own cigarette. His brown eyes glowed amber in the faint flame, and she found herself caught in his gaze as she leaned closer to him. “Didn’t take much for that to happen in the first place, did it?”
Heat rushed to her face, cheeks ripening from the pink blush she’d applied before dinner to a candy bright red. Their short-lived friendship blossomed into an affair rather quickly. A week before his family joined him in Nevada, he arrived at the casino in Vegas with his service medals in tow. Gloria had lamented upon their third conversation that she’d never seen any of her brother’s awards but had read about Michael’s in the Life article.
As innocently as she could be alone with him in his private hotel room, her fingers brushed each one as he described how he earned them, until reaching his Purple Heart. Almost without thinking, she’d taken the medal from its case and pinned it to the lapel of his black, pin-stripe suit. He’d caught her wrist in his hand, and for a split second she thought the fire in his eyes was anger until he captured her lips in a searing kiss.
“No, it didn’t,” she said, finally breaking from his hold to take a deep inhale before snuffing out her cigarette in the ashtray.
He reached over, taking her hand in his. “You look beautiful, by the way. Blue always suits you.”
She grinned, her tongue darting out between her lips. “I look even better out of it.”
“Now who’s slick?”
Smugness radiated off of her, watching Michael wave the waiter over for the check. She missed when her and Michael’s relationship wasn’t so important, at least in the familial sense. Being flirty with him was always fun, but as his future wife, sex carried a sense of duty. Always available and having to compromise to his whims.
When they stood up from the table, he placed a hand on the small of her back, guiding her outside. As they waited for the car to pull up, Michael kissed her, pulling her close so that her chest was flush against his. She deepened the kiss, her hand on the back of his neck as she slipped her tongue in his mouth.
The rumble of the car engine behind them cut through their embrace. Michael groaned as he pulled away, though Gloria managed to press a kiss to his cheek before they got in the car.
One of Michael’s buttonmen was driving, while Al was in the passenger seat. Michael opened the door for Gloria, sliding into the back seat after her.
“You got something—“ She motioned to her lips.
He rolled his eyes as he pulled the handkerchief out of his suit pocket and wiped at his mouth. “It’s a wonder you’ve never gotten lipstick on my collar.”
“I can try.”
“You have a smart mouth, you know that?”
“I’ve been told,” she laughed, eyes sparkling in the dim lights coming from the dashboard.
Putting his arm around her, he kept her close to his side. She laid her head on his shoulder on the ride back to her hotel, her eyes drifting up to admire his profile. Sharp yet delicate, like the pair of sewing scissors her grandmother had brought over from Sicily, requiring a careful touch but reliable enough to outlast the American-made ones she’d bought.
Michael’s black hair almost matched Gloria’s, though her tone was cooler, appearing bluish in certain lighting. His eyes were physically lighter than hers, but somehow he was able to expertly channel his emotions through them, at times appearing black as coal, the peek of a fire being fed inside of him.
“We’re here, sir,” the driver announced.
“Where’s your car?” Michael asked as they pulled up to the hotel.
She shrugged. “Wherever the valet parks them.”
An off-hand response to a casual question, Gloria didn’t expect anything more from the conversation.
“Using a valet while you’re living on your own? Are you out of your mind, Gloria?” His voice boomed in the small space, enclosing her in his rage.
“I’m sorry. I can pay for it myself if you–”
“That’s not what I mean,” he snapped. “Al, I want her car looked at, only people you trust.”
Al silently nodded, slipping out of the car when it parked in front of the hotel.
“Michael, what’s gotten into you?”
His jaw clenched, nostrils flaring. “Go up to the room. I’ll be there in a minute.”
“Fine, but if you’re going to bring whatever this attitude is upstairs, don’t bother.”
Before he had a chance to respond, she got out of the car, annoyed and embarrassed by his outburst. She knew he wouldn’t give her an explanation, expecting her to accept his hang-ups without protest because of the nature of his work.
Her fists were clenched the whole elevator ride up to her room. Anyone who had access to the check-in log could see his last name, not hers, under the reservation. Easy enough for a bad actor to catch a glimpse of her room number and target her from there. Instead, he was raging over her car.
She kicked off her heels, ridding herself of her jewelry save for the engagement ring, and finally pulling off her dress and tights until she was only in her slip. Shuffling over to the bed, she laid on top of the covers, her back to the door.
Michael had always been overbearing, more protective than an extramarital affair warranted, but since he proposed and they became a formal couple, the intensity only became hyper-focused on her. He’d known about the other men she had seen, not pleased, but he had no authority to stop her back then. As far as she was aware, she had been his only mistress, his affection split between her and Kay. Having it all on her was overwhelming.
In her brooding, she hadn’t heard Michael enter until he spoke.
“I’m trying to protect you, Gloria. Things are gonna be a lot different for you from now on.”
She knew it was petulant and childish, but she didn’t respond, merely shifting in her spot on the bed. He sighed. She could hear rustling behind her for a few moments.
“You can’t be so careless, darling. Especially now that we’re engaged,” Michael said, his voice soft as he climbed into bed with her, wrapping his arms around her torso. “There are a lot of people who’ll try to use you to get to me. I don’t want you getting hurt.”
“Alright,” she mumbled. “I’m sorry, tiger.”
Tiger. Her cat-like lover, noble and ruthless, seeking out comfort on his own terms.
“That’s a nickname I haven’t heard in a while.”
“You just reminded me of one earlier is all.”
He was silent, his hands gently pawing at her stomach. His hot breath fanned over her skin as he buried his face in the crook of her neck. Reaching back, she ran her fingers through his hair, manicured nails scratching at his scalp. He basked in her touch, nuzzling his nose against her.
Though his breathing became steady with a light snore in her ear, she couldn’t sleep. They often traded bouts of insomnia.
After at least an hour of lying awake, she slipped out of his hold and tip-toed out to the living room so as not to wake him. Sitting on the floor in front of the radio, she tuned in to one of the late-night stations, keeping the volume low. She hummed along to ‘All I Have To Do Is Dream’ a favorite of hers since it first came out two years earlier. Michael didn’t care for the Everly Brothers, nor much of rock n’ roll in general. Considered it raucous and juvenile.
She closed her eyes and let herself get lost in the music, unsure of how much time had passed when she suddenly heard Michael’s raised voice from in the bedroom. Going in to check on him, her lip trembled at the sight of him. He tossed and turned, distressed babbling continuing on. The covers fell from the bed as he kicked violently at them.
“Fucking bastards—grab the rifle and—”
“Michael,” she called out. “Michael, wake up.”
“They’re moving in—shit!”
She knew better than to grab at him, try to shake him awake. The only time she’d done so, a few months into their relationship, he nearly broke her arm despite being fully asleep. The following morning, he hadn’t remebered a thing but became withdrawn when she explained why her arm was bruised. Fredo had given her two weeks off work afterward, but she knew Michael had asked him to do that.
Shuffling over to the phone in the room, she dialed the front desk, glancing at Michael, still in his troubled state.
“Hello, can you call back here in about two minutes, please?” she asked.
“Is there something you need, ma’am?”
“No, just call back.”
“Of course, ma’am.”
The two minutes waiting for the front desk to call back dragged on endlessly. Gloria felt herself tear up at Michael’s distress, feeling hopeless as ever to help him. She retreated into the bathroom. Her hand shook as she filled a glass of water for him, slipping back into the bedroom.
The phone rang a few seconds later. She watched her lover hawkishly. He woke up at the noise, chest heaving as he sat up to look frantically around the room.
“What’s going on? Where—“
Gloria standing in the corner, eyeing him cautiously while holding a glass of water, gave him his answer. He groaned, running his hand down his face.
“It’s okay, nothing happened,” she assured him softly, handing him the glass.
She watched as he drank, rushing to refill the glass after he drained it. When she returned, she sat next to him on the bed, rubbing soothing circles on his back.
“Do you wanna talk?”
He shook his head, setting the glass aside. “You shouldn’t have to see me like this. Having nightmares like a child over things that happened fifteen years ago. Couldn't even find the place on a map anymore if you asked me to.”
“I don’t care.” She pushed back some of his black hair from his forehead, feeling the perspiration that built up on his skin. “I love you.” She kissed the crown of his head, wrapping her arms around him as to cradle him against her chest.
“You’re going to be a wonderful mother.”
That was what it all came down to, her fiancé’s affection for her so tied to his hope that she could right that wrong, and as she’d later learn, many others.

2. Look at YoonA’s latest projects line-up, everything is going well for her ㅋㅋㅋ 7. All are doing really wellㅋㅋ 8. I thought YoonA wasn’t good at acting when she was Saebyuk (in her first lead drama ‘You Are My Destiny’) but these days her acting is really good. Not just as an acting idol, but she's just good at it (acting). ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ I thought IU was good since the drama ‘Pretty Man’ that starred Jang Geunsuk, and for Suzy, Anna, is the best... 9. I watched YoonA well in ‘King The Land’ ㅋㅋ She was a perfect fit ㅋㅋ 11. What? These are all the people I like!!!!! Everyone is pretty and their acting is great. By the way, Yoona's recent works are crazy, they're all successful ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 12. YoonA was so cute in ‘King The Land’ and her acting is so good ㅋㅋㅋㅋ 13. I watched all three of YoonA's latest projects. Wow, just look at YoonA’s recent works ㅋㅋ 17. YoonA is really good at comical acting
19. YoonA, you acted so well, so natural ㅋㅋㅋ I'm looking forward to your next work. 20. I’m convinced (I agree) ㅋㅋㅋㅋEveryone's acting is good, and YoonA's batting score (percentage of her success rate) is especially good lately. 22. Wow, it looks like there aren't any (i)dols to remove (meaning OP agrees with all on the list). But it is surprising that Jung Eunji and Sooyoung aren't here.. I guess it's because there are a lot of female idols who are good at acting. 26. YoonA acted so well in ‘King the Land’ㅋㅋㅋ 27. Wow, 1st place for both men and women are ‘King The Land’ male and female leads ㅋㅋㅋ 28. It's freaking that both YoonA’s dramas and movies did well. The line-up of her recent works is insane ㅋㅋㅋ 30. YoonA’s latest works line-up are insaneㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 31. Yoona’s career is insaneㅋㅋ 32. It’s the same with male idol rankings, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places are the ones that always come up when acting idols are mentioned ㅇㅇ 33. YoonA's works line-up is insane 34. I really enjoyed watching Yoong’s ‘King The Land’, it’s my life drama ㅠ 35. Only the people who should have been chosen were chosen. 36. Nodding (in approval) ㅋㅋ 39. Oh, there are all these people who I thought they were good ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 40. They all act well... 41. Agreed 42. They are all good at acting and pretty 44. Her latest work ‘King The Land’, ‘Big Mouth’, ‘Confidential Assignment’ shivering (because of the awesome line-up) 45. YoonA's acting was really good in ‘King The Land’. She was just like Cheon Sarang herself👍 47. It feels like the differences in acting skills among the actresses aren't that big. The 5 people seem to be famous enough to be in the top 5 in terms of influence and reputation. 48. Do well, everyone 49. YoonA is really good 50. I acknowledged 51. They are all well-known faces. 52. I saw YoonA for the first time through ‘King The Land’ and she was really good. 57. YoonA was really good in ‘King The Land’. 63. I clicked in the article shouting ‘YoonA’ 65. Lim Yoona's latest work is insane...;; 68. These are all people I like 69. The votes are more evenly distributed here, so the difference in votes is not that big... The male idols were overwhelming. 71. I came in thinking YoonA would be here, but she ended up in first place ㅋㅋㅋ. 72. (Comment deleted at time of translation) 74. YoonA's acting in ‘The K2’, IU’s in ‘My Mister’, and Suzy's in ‘Anna’ were really, really good. I'm curious about the acting of this three people in their 30s, 40s, and 50s. 76. But this was released yesterday morning and suddenly both articles (male and female) came out as ‘hot’ topics. 79. To be honest, I was sad because I thought YoonA's (drama) filmography was bad, but these days, everything is really good.. ㅜㅜ And the movie filmography is good too. 80. I acknowledge everyone in this article, but it's a shame that Jung Eunji, Han Sunhwa and Sooyoung weren’t included. I really enjoyed Sooyoung's ‘Not Others’. 85. YoonA seems to choose her works well. 88. (Comment deleted at time of translation)
90. Lim Yoona’s form is crazy!!!!!!! 92. (replied to 69th comment) Oh, it looks like they got votes from all over. Female acting idols are also good at acting. 94. Oh, they are all good actors ㅋㅋㅋI also liked Jung Eunji, Sooyoung and Sojin ㅋㅋ 100. YoonA, IU and Suzy's singing and acting careers are all top notch 101. I acknowledged all of them 105. I thought about Bona, but the acting idols in the article are all very good 106. I also thought about YoonA's ‘EXIT’, but it is not her most recent work. 107. I enjoyed everything YoonA has released recently. 108. I came in the article thinking of YoonA. 109. YoonA❤️ I like her very much 112. King-jeong (t/l note: It is a slang to of 킹 (king)+ 인정 (agreed), to describe being full agreement of something) 113. I approved 115. YoonA’s recent career seems really good 117. Approved approved. 119. YoonA and IU, king-jeong. I want to watch Suzy’s drama, why isn’t it coming out yet? 120. We selected the acting idols who showed the greatest success this year and who we are looking forward to in the future. ----------------------- This is the survey topic. 121. I think YoonA’s career is so good 122. I heard about ‘King The Land’ being a huge hit on Netflix and ‘Big Mouth’ also did well, hence it is a back-to-back hit. 125. I acknowledged it 127. (replied to 120th comment) It is in the text ㅋㅋ 128. As expected, YoonA! 129. Ah, YoonA’s acting is good. 130. I acknowledge all of them 131. Approved 132. Ah, I approved of everyone listed here 133. YoonA is good 134. YoonA seems to be in good form these days. Personally, I think Suzy’s ‘Anna’ was the best ever, so I hope Suzy do another such genreㅠㅠ 135. Good 136. Approved 137. I acknowledged everyone listed here, there are people who I am disappointed that they are not on the list, but there is also no one in the list that I objected too. 138. YoonA’s filmography is good. All her works are very good, and she acts very well too. 140. Everyone's form is good, but the acting skills of the female idols are ambiguous. 141. I like YoonA so much 143. (Replied to 140th comment) What?;; As expected, all the malicious commenters are like sh*t. All the 5 females here have a besting acting of their life for at least once, so what are you talking about? 144. Yes 147. IU and Nana are good. No, all the 5 people listed here are goodㅋㅋㅋ 148. For the female acting idols, the votes are considered more evenly distributed. 149. (Replied to 140th comment) ? 152. I’m looking forward to YoonA’s movies and dramas doing well. I’m also curious about the ‘2 O’clock Date’! 153. I agreed with all listed in the article, Nana’s acting is really good. 156. I like Lim YoonA to the point of dying ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ 157. King-jeong 158. YoonA is good. I thought her acting was good after watching her works recently 160. YoonA is so likeable these days. I've seen all of her recent works. Now, she is a ‘trust and treasure’ actress.
161. Wow, all of them are K-pop talent. 163.The 1st place for both male and female are Junho and YoonA, ‘King The Land’ couple is really good ㅠㅠ I hope they both do better. The chemistry was good, and their acting was good in ‘King The Land’ 167. King-jeong to all on the list
168. Wow, 1st place is YoonA, congrats congrats!! 169. The movies and dramas YoonA starred in, all received great success, so amazing 171. I clicked in the article shouting YoonA ㅋㅋㅋㅋI hope things go smoothly~ 175. YoonA deserves the 1st place. Her drama and movie careers are all good. 176. Regardless of her career, Yoona really showed off her acting chops with her ‘Confidential Assignment’ and ‘EXIT’, and she did well in King the Land as well. Nana and Kim Sejeong are rather unexpected, and I think Han Sunhwa or Jung Eunji are better. 178. All of them have improved a lot in their acting so it’s even better 180. I feel like all the idols mentioned in the original text and Sooyoung and Eunji are good at acting. 185. YoonA 189. YoonA has a good way of choosing projects ㅋㅋㅋㅋ 191. These are the actors who were active 'this year', but it seems like it includes only those who can be included... YoonA did well in ‘King The Land, and IU and Suzy are the queens of immense popularity who respond right away in surveys like this even if they didn't have any hit films or activities this year. (Just like stars who are ranked even if they are inactive that year when Gallup selects the best OO of the year...) Nana becomes popular because of ‘Mask Girl’ recently. 193. YoonA! 194. Even though Nana is really good, I recognize all 5 people there. 196. (Comment deleted at time of translation) 197. YoonA was such a perfect fit for ‘King The Land’ this time, so pretty 198. I'm waiting for YoonA's next work 200. YoonA! 201. Acknowledged acknowledged 204. I agreed with all the line-up here 205. Waiting for YoonA's next work 208. Line-up approved... 209. No, initially I thought how could Sejeong be in 5th place only, but as I scrolled lower (to reveal the top 4), the more I understood. 212. I only saw YoonA's works for a few seconds in passing, so I had the prejudice that I couldn't get into the character because I heard YoonA's voice that I used to hear.. I recently watched Exit belatedly and was so surprised that it turns out okay. I finally understand why her movies are so successful and how she gets casted so consistently. 214. YoonA is good! Han Sunhwa too!! 215. YoonA is really good 216. Even though I’m not a fan of all five of them, I acknowledged. 217. Oh.. everyone who are good are gathered here 218. Soshi is YoonA, but I was also surprised that Sooyoung was better at acting than I thoughtㅋㅋ 219. ‘King The Land’ influence is huge. Both sides (male and female) came in first place 220. YoonA is really good ㅋㅋㅋㅋ I watched ‘Big Mouth’ and ‘King The Land’ recently, and she did well in both dramas. YoonA would be a perfect match for a little bit of ‘Big Mouth’ – ‘King the Land’ – ‘EXIT’, a bright, cheerful, confident and u undaunted not in a villain way character 221. The experts voted but there are people here trying to start a fight so ridiculousㅋ What is it? ㅋㅋㅋ 224. They are all good 225. YoonA’s latest line-up projects are really awesome ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
226, Everyone are gathered here, they are all good 227. Oh, YoonA approved 229. Really, YoonA is really good. I think she has star quality, good screen control, and acting skills. 231. If its YoonA, its king-jeong. 232. YoonA is building up her filmography for movies and dramas well. Her acting in ‘Confidential Assignment’, ‘Big Mouth’, ‘King the Land’ were really good. I admit her acting in ‘Miracle’ was also really good. 233. (Replied to 232nd comment) All same as you and ‘EXIT’ too!! 235. Oh my, YoonA's acting was really good. 236. YoonA, approved 238. Agreed 239. YoonA, approved approved 240. YoonA, approved 241. YoonA, I really enjoyed ‘King The Land’. So lovely ㅠ 243. Hehehe YoonA>< 244. All are good 245. Acknowledged 246. YoonA, approved 248. YoonA, approved 249. Oh, they are all good. And popular too. 258. Even if there are people who should be added in, but there aren’t people that should be removed. I went ‘King-jeong King-jeong’ while scrolling down the list. 259. I watched every project of YoonA that comes out after ‘EXIT’. Really, she is good at acting in both movies and dramas. 260. Agreed 261. It's a shame that YoonA keeps getting underestimated because of the disgusting keyboard warriors. 263. I clicked in thinking of YoonA. 264. Didn’t YoonA filmed a drama in the early days of her debut, she did really well in that too. 265. Agreed, YoonA and Suzy are good at acting 266. YoonA and Suzy are both good at acting 267. Agreed 268. YoonA did really well 269. Agreed for all 270. When will YoonA's next work come out ㅠㅠ I want to see it soon 271. YoonA has become someone that can be trust and treasure (to watch). I am waiting for her next work.

~Skeptic’s Marriage and the Honeymoon~
Tumblr media
headcanon|scenario|imagine|match-up
~Marriage~
-You two likely announce your marriage together in front of the others. Tomoyasu is acting like he doesn’t care of that he’s annoyed by their “oooo’s and ahhhh’s” but you can clearly see the smile pulling up in the corner of his mouth. He’s proud and excited himself that you’d ever agree to marry someone like him. Hell, he was proud the day you agreed to date him! (You should’ve seen the proposal...He just walked into the bedroom and tossed the box at you barely missing your head. “Let’s get married.” Acting all nonchalant like he wasn’t panicking in the parking lot of the jewelry shop earlier about the possibility of you saying no to him) It’s almost too difficult to answer the slew of questions flying your way from both Chitose and Hanabata.
-It hasn’t even been a full 2 days before you find yourself out dress/tux/outfit shopping with those two. Oh and don’t think ReDestro and Geten aren’t supportive just because they’re on the sidelines. Rikiya is busy trying to convince Skeptic to let him fund the ENTIRE event as a wedding gift, and Geten is waiting at ReDestro’s feet for any instruction to help his grand commander. I’m sure you already know who donated those ice sculptures at the reception (and no, it was not the catering company). Tomoyasu eventually settled on letting Rikiya pay the venue as a gift. Anymore than that and the man would feel uncomfortable making his commander pay like that. Chitose and Hanabata basically sprung to pay for the clothing. No matter how hard Skeptic and you tried to stop them, they were already on top of it. In all honesty, you two didn’t have to pay for anything except for the catering. That was only because Skeptic was able to beat Chitose to the phone to book them! Anyway, the wedding was a lovely event.
-There were plenty of people attending from Detnerat, Feel Good, as well as family, friends, liberation army members, and a few from the others (Chitose and Hanabata’s) companies. It was extremely rare that you EVER saw Skeptic cry. On this day he cried so hard that his vows came out all choked up. You were sure him and ReDestro were in some sort of secret crying competition lol.
~Honeymoon~
Shortly after leaving the reception, the two of you jetted back home to take a quick nap and finish up packing before heading out on your honeymoon. The others would be in charge of putting all your wedding presents in your house while you were both gone so there was no need to worry there! All you needed to focus on at the moment was dealing with Tomoyasu’s road rage and wondering when was the next time you could stop and get something to eat. Seriously...you’ve switched to the driver’s side a few times during the trip since he could sometimes be unbearable when in a car for an extended period of time. He’d already cursed out three drivers and flipped off two others. On top of that, he REFUSED to check the directions claiming that he’s researched enough and knew how to get to the hotel just fine...he didn’t by the way. This (and the constant stopping on your behalf for breaks) had added an extra 2 hours onto the trip time. You didn’t make it to the hotel until nearly midnight! It was fine because the mood dramatically shifted once you parked and admired the grand beauty of the hotel and the tourist city surrounding you two. You’d checked in, had a lovely shower, and got the absolute shit fucked out of you *ahem...I mean consummated the marriage or whatever*
-By the next morning you were both recharged and ready to see some sights! The first thing you did was check out a local aquarium. It was fun seeing the various fish and learning a few facts here and there. And sure, maybe it was a little childish waiting in line for the Penguin playhouse but who gives a shit? It’s your honeymoon, enjoy it! Next the two of you climbed the side of a mountain for a hike...something Skeptic had already wanted to quit considering he was way too hot and sweaty for it by now. You didn’t even make it to the waterfall tucked away in the woods! “Awwww, but Tomo!” He grunted at you and grabbed your hand as he gently pulled you alongside him and back down the mountainside. “Let’s go, my hair is getting nasty and I’m about to pass out. I’ll show you the damn waterfall over the satellite footage.”
-The course of the next few days was filled with exploring different attractions (mirror mases and wax museums and more), with a side of eating half your weight in street foods. On top of that, Skeptic let you go a little wild with the souvenir budget as long as you didn’t buy more than you could take back with you in the car. When the last day came along, neither of you wanted to return back to your normal lives but you eventually had to come to terms with just relaxing every single day going out the window lol.
-Oh and of course he carried you through the front door when you made it back home. Something something traditional about the threshold or whatever. Congrats on making it back home safe newlyweds! Now you get to focus on unwrapping and putting away a shit ton of wedding presents...hurrah!

CHAPTER ONE.
previous: prologue // masterlist
warnings: nothing really just profanity, mention of murder and guns.
Tumblr media
The entire car ride was silent. You never thought you would see Keishin again, nor did you expect your day to be put on pause just because he demanded so. With every passing second, the urge to strangle him with his seat belt grew but he was lucky that you were sitting in the backseat and under the watchful eyes of one of his goons.
In the stillness, you took in more of his features that you failed to notice before blonde hair, piercings, and enough tattoos to spare. “Ya know Kei, this look that you have going on… it suits you. It really screams delinquent.”
“Yeah, and you still look as stuck up as ever. I guess working hard without daddy’s money didn’t change that attitude of yours” And there it is, the same old Keishin that you hated since the day you met him. You didn’t have the energy to go tit-for-tat with him so you just stare out the window and pray he doesn’t say anything else.
Eventually, you reach your destination: a parking garage across the street from a hotel — the exact hotel where your father, Oshiro Kenji, was murdered. Keishin drags you out of the car and finds a spot where you can see the crime scene, which is littered with cops and investigators. If he had a reason for bringing you here, he needed to spit it out and fast.
As if he could feel your impatience bubbling, he finally speaks. “Five bullet wounds. That’s how many bullets actually hit the old man.” He pauses to retrieve a cigarette from his pocket and places it between his lips. “Compared to the number of casings on the ground, I would say whoever did this is a shitty marksman.”
“What the hell are we doing here Keishin? Whatever it is you’re trying to get at, I don’t care and I don’t want to be involved.”
“That’s too bad princess, but now that your father is gone everything related to the Sansokuu is now your responsibility. Congratulations.”
You kiss your teeth in annoyance. Who was he to tell you what to do? For right now though, you’ll just go along with it, letting him believe that you’ll obey his every command. “You still haven’t answered my question of why we’re here. So could you stop wasting my time and get to the point?”
“Look, we both know these dumbass cops aren’t going to figure out who did it, and they sure as hell won’t know everything that went down. Plus, something’s not adding up…”
Before he could continue, a cop ducks below the yellow crime scene tape and makes his way over. He takes a moment to double-check his surroundings and slips a sealed evidence bag into Keishin’s hands as he walks past. “Then there’s this.” Keishin holds up a necklace with an oddly shaped pendant. “Oshiro had one just like this and was wearing it when he died. So this means someone close to him did this.”
Instead of focusing on whatever he just said, you were shocked at the secret exchange that had occurred right before your eyes.
“Don’t act so surprised. You know as well as I do that we have people on the inside. How else would Oshiro get away with everything he did?” He turns the necklace over in his hand, smoothing his thumb over the intricate details of the pendant. “As I was saying —
“Keishin, If you’re proposing that I help you solve your little gang’s murder then the answer is no. I don’t have time to play detective with you, and if I didn’t make it clear before, I don’t give a single fuck about any of this.” You turn to walk back to the car, but a strong grip on your arm stops you in your tracks.
“And why should I believe that you didn’t kill him? You have a motive and there’s the fact that Oshiro never conducted business outside of Miyagi in person until he called you and came here a month later to make a deal.” He tugs you closer, and the horrible smell of his cigarette fills your nose as you try to lean away. “So you really want me to believe you’re not connected to his death?”
“You have five seconds to get your hands off of me.” Both of his hands are locked onto your arms as you try to wiggle free in his vice-like grip.
“Oh yeah? Why should I?”
“Because I didn’t kill him you asshat! But I will kill you if you don’t let go of me.”
He jostles you again. “Forty-eight hours — that’s all you get to find me something and prove you didn’t kill him.”
There’s no time to argue back because he drags you back to the car, recklessly shoving you into the backseat as he had done prior. This time, though, he doesn’t climb into the passenger seat, he stands outside the car to instruct the driver. “Take her home. Call me if she gives you any problems.” He eyes you, fuming in the backseat as you plan out how to approach all of this, and then he disappears off into the garage.

Every city or country can take this model and use it for their city , town , county or country to better the lives of the people of their society .
Rikers Island
when it moves from the beach out there in Queens into more like the inner city of the boroughs they should have and develop educational and vocational programs for the inmates at Rikers .
I mean government funded school in prison with real certified teachers in GED training and High school completion courses as well as College courses for students that is ready for it and all inmates should be able to practice their religion and culture without any retaliation for it because this gets them to change their life to learn love from the heart and a love for a creator whether themselves or a higher power .
That they believe it internalizes into their heart and spirit of their character thus changing them righteously making them want to take responsibility for their actions and change their savage and brutal behavior into becoming a more valuable human and contribute something to their immediate family instead of taking from their family they can give something in return whether that be financial with the skills productive skills gained while incarecerated or just being a son to mom or dad or a young father to their children being their for their kids raising and teaching them the right things and hopefully they steer them from the same fate that they suffered and endured .
The school programs should include
Basic mathematics - addition subtraction multiplication fractions percents and decimals and each operation in each like how to multiply fractions decimals and percents and then instruct them on algebra and the harder subjects after if follow that sequence more students wouldnt lose interest and then drop out but more can gain their GED diploma then steady employment when released from incarceration which ensures employment and not recidivism to prison and their guidance counselor should make sure to remind the inmate that they can receive a certificate of relief from disabilities when released from prison so that they will have no problem getting a license for their chosen field of employment or to get back in school
English courses Language art classes Earth science class Social studies class
And vocational classes should include :
Mechanics for automotives Carpentry Janitorial Maintenance skills Electrician Plumbing AC and refrigeration
I heard prison has so much private investors to build more prisons even celebrities and corporations are getting in on the action so why not turn jail prison into a more revenue generating machine and a school house for societies so called rejects maybe Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls or Corcraft can invest in creating educational programs for students or even students that have been out of school and who wants to return to society a more reformed person who wants to help provide value to society and not be destructive in society this plan is even better for business because it creates job opportunities for teachers / instructors and teacher assistants principals and financial aid granting Pell grants and full financial aid the plans like all my plans is to help boost the economy by creating more businesses and putting more money in the consumers pocket and creating more job opportunities for those consumers it is reciprocal create jobs you create business .
Let's Make New York great again , true meaning of going left notice he is pointing to me .

Moving to Europe during Covid-19; Becoming poor and homeless in New York City.
After the success of my first book, Unbreakable Mind, endless projects were offered to me but none were a good match. There were many extremely attractive proposals. One was a second book, traveling to ten cities in the world, writing from an injured person’s perspective; an additional for NYT, to travel to 52 countries in 52 weeks, in a wheelchair; and, yet another, to create a travel TV show – but not any were the right fit, not one idea resonated with my soul.
Which avenue to further explore remained unclear until one fateful conversation in early May. I was on the phone with a friend from Amsterdam, a Norwegian-Dominican up-and-coming rap star, David AKA Big Mill, and he had an idea to share. “David,” I asked, “let me guess, another TV show idea.” He replied, “Yes, but this one is distinct.” Well, it was unlike all prior options – different to the point where I loved it. It made sense; it clicked with me – it felt right inside.
The other missing pieces to the puzzle would fall into place shortly thereafter. The morning of the 14th of May, my birthday, for some reason I was nudged to write an old classmate and friend, Adam, now living with his wife and four-year-old in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. He was recently laid off as an AV Director, a high position in the non-profit world of museums, now in search of a project to develop. I shared my idea for a new travel TV show with him and the rest is history.
After a seven hour conversation, going over every detail possible for how the project could ostensibly work, determining key people and positions needed to make a production company and TV show successful, and agreeing on a pilot location abroad (Amsterdam), we were off to the races. Since Covid-19 has affected so many business-people and investors globally, we were unable to raise the necessary funds. All agreed, signing on to the project on a shoestring budget.
One week later, with all airplane tickets and hotels reserved, my wheelchair supercharged by Gary Gilberti and his amazing team at Numotion Mobility, we were set to start filming pilot footage in Amsterdam in July and August. As I already live part-time in Amsterdam, I was planning on moving to Europe for two to five years. With everything [assuredly] in place, and not being a fan of storing items that others less fortunate could better utilize, especially during a global pandemic, I decided to give away my home, car, all my belongings to those in dire need.
What type spiritual person or leader would I be if I did not practice what I preached, helping others in life anytime one is able, truly living out the words I guide and ask of others to live, if I cannot do so myself? There was no need for me to store away furniture, clothing and other household items while others in my immediate presence were suffering from the current health and economic catastrophe. For two weeks friends and strangers came and took what they wanted.
Everything was going fine, just as planned. My home was donated, flights ready, bags packed and ride to airport sorted. Before flying out to Europe I planned to spend four days in NYC with an old friend, Georgie-boy, who lives across the Hudson River in Jersey City. George is an old and dear classmate from my irascible undergraduate days at Rutgers College; also the General Counsel for our production company. He has a thriving law practice in nearby Newark, NJ.
It was great to be back in NYC, my old stomping grounds in the late 1990s. There is nothing like “The City” – one of a kind, no other place like it on the planet.  We spent an afternoon sunning on the spacious waterfront in Hoboken, NJ, a nice day playing Frisbee in Central Park West, eating amazing Mamouns Falafel and Prince St. Pizza in Greenwich Village. Though it was expected to see murals and damage from prior fortnight’s rioting, it was eerily strange in person.
It was Sunday, a day of respite before flying to Europe on Monday. George and I spent the day having a relaxing lunch at Iberia outdoor café in the Little Portugal section of Newark, NJ. The next morning we were up bright and early, soon off to the airport. When we arrived at Newark International Airport it was nearly empty. There was not but one person at the check-in counter – moi. The Delta terminal was empty. It was June 15th and Covid-19 was in full effect. Wow!
Having never seen such a normally super busy airport terminal this empty in my life, it did not give me pause. George, on the other hand, had a different feeling, and decided to stay with me until I was ticketed to board. After finding a way to get my heavy bags checked in with no fees I thought we were on plan. Then a hiccup: “Sorry Mr. Quigley, you are unable to board the flight to Amsterdam. Dutch Immigration in Holland is denying you entry without proper permission.”
Well, that was a first, and not only a huge surprise but a major setback to a monumental project.  Oh shit! What do I do now? Thank goodness Georgie stayed with me; and thank goodness he was able to put me up at his place until this mess was all sussed out. It was an absolutely horrid situation; and to add salt to the wound, I was right smack in the middle of a Covid-19 USA EU political Visa predicament; whereas the EU would review country entry list every two weeks.
George was gracious enough to see me through the immediate emergency until it began looking like my delay would be a bit longer than originally anticipated. The EU placed a travel ban on Americans’ travel to Europe. And it would not be reviewed again until July 1st.  My new ticket was issued for a direct flight from JFK, NY to Amsterdam, Holland, July 1st. This being the case, and since George had a life to live, I moved to a Hilton close by to JFK airport in Queens.
What started as a journey by giving away all my belongings in order to chase a dream project and move to Europe was swiftly turning into a situation that could easily result in me becoming poor and homeless in NYC. Hotels are not cheap in NYC – nothing is inexpensive in the Big Apple – you pay through the nose. The costs were quickly adding up and what small financial safety net I had set aside was speedily disappearing. I could not last long in a hotel in Queens.
The hotel itself was of no help to my stress and anxiety levels. They had me on the sixth floor, all the way down the hall, in the far corner, in a room that was a very tight fit for a wheelchair, and could only be reached after struggling down one hundred twenty feet of carpet. As if that was not enough, one week into my stay the GM, Tracy Kass, awoke me early in the morning to inform me I would reach my 14 day hotel stay limit after this registration renewal, and she was calling to inform me they could not extend it any further. I was astounded, appalled. Unbelievable!
Miss Kass, later when challenged, changed her story, informing me I did not let her finish, she had more to say on the call – that there was, in fact, no 14 day limit. Three days and three voicemails later, and no reply arrived from the normally overly pugilistic General Manager. Only once it was elevated to Hilton Honors corporate office level did she return my call. This was after numerous emails asking her to send me a copy of the policy. She refused. It does not exist.
Upon complaint to NY State AG, their attorney replied that I did not let her finish, that it was actually a 28 day limit. That is total utter bullshit! Firstly, then why call me only after seven days? Secondly, I met two people outside the hotel who received the same inhuman treatment. Thirdly, all her staff, including her Director of Operations, apologized profusely to me in person for her insensitive, cruel call. It should be noted that all other staff were caring and supportive.
Later that week, while in the bathroom, the grab-bar broke off from the wall while attempting a toilet transfer, sending me straight onto the hard tile ground, injuring my neck and back. Do you think the hotel or GM did anything to help address the issue, let alone make some changes to mitigate a more comfortable stay? No! The room was a disaster for a wheelchair user. My stay in Queens was quickly morphing into its own mini crisis. I was stuck in a cement jungle without any stores. I had only one friend to assist me – Sunita in Boston. Hilton corporate has yet to reply.
With every door opening but quickly closing, I was running out of viable options, rapidly. The immediate future looked grim.  Running out of money (and patience), with no home to move to, with no home to return to, life was proving overly difficult. It allowed my mind to get the better of my heart, lulling it into anxiety, sadness and no hope for the future. Life was grim; I was not a happy camper. After nine years of struggle, I figured this project would run smoothly. Silly me!
After time searching deep inside, meditation and prayer, chats with mentors, close inner-circle friends and spiritual advisors, I decided that I would face the universe’s tests head on. It was time to truly practice my words – taking my hands off the wheel of life, as the universe has it under control. It was another example of ‘Doing The Dirty Dishes’ of life – the Buddhist principle that if you want to get anything done in life you first must put in your effort, getting your hands dirty.
In May, when the project began coming together, one night while deep in meditation, an angel came to me and told me: “Steven, after 46 years of white-knuckling the wheel of life, you can now finally remove your hands [from the wheel], let go, give up control of life (as if you ever had any in the first place) – the hardest lesson for most to learn, aside from reaction and attitude, or living through love – I am now at the wheel, in full control. Wake up each morning and relax.  Forget about your past; do not worry for your future; live in the present moment – the now.”
It all sounded great until I awoke on June 15th, only to be denied entry to a plane that represented my life’s work and dreams. Or did it!? What was the universe trying to tell me through stranding me in NYC? What was the lesson? It did not come at first, but it did not take long to figure it out. The universe was sending me bigger struggles to overcome. Why? 1.To truly test if my hands were off the wheel of life, wholly trusting in the universe 100% ; and 2. At length, it still had to break and broke me before my dream could be realized. I am grateful to both my teachers, the universe.
Three days later a friend from Portland Maine came down to NYC to rescue me. As soon as I stepped into her car I felt an immense 800 lb gorilla freed from my back. Off to Maine.

Book review: The fine print by Lauren Asher
Rowan is in the business of creating fairytales, theme parks, production companies and five star hotels. Everything could be his if he renovated the dreamland and that’s where Zahra comes in. She submits a proposal while drunk and to her surprise? Rowan Kane hires her. Everything was good until he kissed her and then started texting her under an alias. I adored this book, it was such an easy quick read. If you don’t love the grumpy x sunshine trope then what are you doing with your life? The romance, the plot, the characters. It was AMAZING. “I’ll never stop being greedy when it comes to Zahra. She will always be the exception to any rule and the one person I’m willing to screw the world over for. Because if she’s not happy, I’ll ruin whatever stole her smile, myself included.” Do you see this? Perfection. This book was absolute perfection.
