Question 1: Market Segmentation Strategy As a budding analyst, you're tasked with developing a market segmentation strategy for a multinational company expanding into emerging markets. How would you approach this task, and what factors would you consider in creating meaningful segments?
Solution: Market segmentation is pivotal in targeting diverse consumer groups effectively. To craft a robust strategy, consider the following steps:
Data Collection: Gather demographic, geographic, psychographic, and behavioral data to understand consumer preferences and behaviors in the target markets.
Identify Segmentation Variables: Utilize clustering techniques to identify commonalities among consumers, such as age, income, lifestyle, and purchasing habits.
Evaluate Segment Attractiveness: Assess each segment's size, growth potential, profitability, and compatibility with the company's resources and objectives.
Target Selection: Choose segments that align with the company's value proposition and competitive advantage, ensuring feasibility and sustainability.
Positioning Strategy: Develop tailored marketing messages and product offerings for each segment, emphasizing unique benefits and addressing specific needs and pain points.
By following these steps, you can devise a comprehensive market segmentation strategy that maximizes the company's market penetration and revenue growth in emerging markets.
Now, let's tackle another intriguing question:
Question 2: Predictive Analytics for Customer Churn A telecommunications company wants to reduce customer churn by leveraging predictive analytics. How would you design a predictive model to identify customers at risk of churn, and what techniques would you employ to enhance model accuracy?
Solution: Reducing customer churn is critical for sustaining business growth and profitability. Here's a roadmap for designing an effective predictive model:
Data Preprocessing: Cleanse and preprocess the dataset, handling missing values, outliers, and irrelevant variables to ensure data quality.
Feature Selection: Identify relevant features that influence churn, such as customer demographics, usage patterns, service complaints, and contract terms.
Model Selection: Choose suitable algorithms for classification tasks, such as logistic regression, decision trees, random forests, or gradient boosting machines, based on the dataset size, complexity, and interpretability requirements.
Training and Validation: Split the dataset into training and validation sets for model training and evaluation, employing techniques like cross-validation to assess model performance robustly.
Performance Metrics: Evaluate model performance using metrics like accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score, considering the trade-offs between false positives and false negatives in churn prediction.
Model Interpretability: Interpret model predictions and feature importance to gain insights into factors driving customer churn, facilitating targeted retention strategies and service improvements.
By implementing these steps and continually refining the predictive model, the telecommunications company can proactively identify at-risk customers and implement personalized retention initiatives, thereby minimizing churn and enhancing customer satisfaction.

Strictly Business Pt 1
Tumblr media
Summary: Spencer wants to gain sexual experience before asking his out his dream date. You just want a way to release stress. What could go wrong?
Pairing: Spencer Reid x F. BAU Reader
Warnings: Descriptions of crime scenes/cases. Friends with benefits. Eventual smut.
W/C: 1.5K
You roll your eyes at Officer Brewer. The handsome cop came on pretty strong with his cheesy pickup lines. Each one was more inappropriate than the last. It’s not that you didn’t find him attractive, but in your five years at the BAU, you had learned not to hook up with the officers you were assisting.
You had only been with the team three months when you were called in to help Portland’s local police on a case. Deputy Julian Lopez had been assigned to assist you on the field and you quickly fell for him. It took six weeks to catch the unsub. During that time, you and Julian were sneaking around, having a secret relationship.
You were heartbroken to learn he had been using you for information he fed to the media to make himself look like the sole hero on the case. What made it worse was the scolding Hotch gave you. You should have known better.
You and your favorite coworker, Spencer were on your way out of the small police station to see the medical examiner. A jogger had stumbled across two bodies in the woods on their daily route. The two of you were going to see if you could find any similarities between them.
“Hey beanpole, take care of my girl for me.” Brewer called out to Reid, winking at you in a way that made bile rise in your throat. “You don’t actually like that guy, do you?” Spencer asked once you left. “No way! I just flirt with him to make sure he cooperates with us.”
Spencer took his plump bottom lip between his teeth. You watched the innocent act wondering what it would feel like to have his teeth sink into your lip like that. You were attracted to Spencer, there was no denying that. It was purely sexual though. You knew the kind of hectic life JJ and Will had. You wanted no part of that.
You didn’t understand why there wasn’t a pile of women at his feet at all times. But so many thought he was too awkward or talked too much. You found it endearing when he shared the information his brain retained from reading something only once.
The two of you were closest to each other out of everyone on the team. You read together on the way home from cases. You would let him look at the latest book you were reading. He would finish it in three minutes, then continue with his own. Once you had finished, he would discuss it with you. You loved that about him.
You mostly read smutty romance, and you looked forward to the blush that would flood his cheeks when he read a particularly spicy scene. Sometimes he would clear his throat and shift in his seat. Those were your favorite moments. You spent most of your spare time together watching movies, you were teaching him how to cook and he taught you how to play chess. You paled in comparison to his skills, but he enjoyed playing with you.
When you returned to the police station, Spencer started giving statistics about the unsub. You watched as he scrunched his nose when he got to a part he found particularly interesting. You were practically drooling when he started talking with his hands. You couldn’t help thinking of what they would feel like against your skin.
You squeeze your thighs together trying to suppress the throb in your panties. Most everyone hated when he went off on a tangent, spilling every detail he knew about something, but not you. You never interrupted him once he started. You thought it was incredibly sexy how much endless information was stored in that brilliant mind under his messy curls.
After four long days, the case was finally solved. Morgan had captured the unsub when he went back to visit the crime scene. The whole team and the local police went out to the closest dive bar to celebrate. You were three shots in when Officer Brewer asked you to dance.
You decided it wouldn’t hurt, and you felt a little bad for shamelessly flirting with him all week. To your surprise, he was a great dancer. He spun and dipped you like a professional. When the song ended, you both walked over to the large booth both of your coworkers had settled in. Brewer placed his hands on your hips pulling you tightly against his body. He pointed at Spencer. “That’s how you woo a lady, Einstein. I’ve seen how you look at her. Just know she’s in good hands. She will be sleeping with a real man. She’ll be screaming my name tonight.”
You quickly remove his hands from your body. One glance at Spencer was enough for you to know that the jab had hurt him. Luckily, Brewer wouldn’t be able to tell. But you could read Spencer like a book. You grabbed the nearest drink off the table, splashing it in his face.
“You pompous ass! I wouldn’t sleep with you if you were the last man on Earth. For your information, Spencer is more of a man than you’ll ever be. He’s the perfect lover. He knows the female anatomy like you know your ABC’s. He can spell out Webster’s Dictionary in its entirety with his tongue when he goes down on me. He’s incredible.”
Spencer looks at you in disbelief. His brown eyes widen as he takes in what just happened. You take his hand in yours. “I’m ready to go.” He stands and walks out with you. You go back to the hotel spending the rest of the night watching rom coms on TV.
When you were back home, everyone was talking about what you said at the bar. Most importantly, you had to explain to Hotch that you and Spencer were not involved. He didn’t want to deal with all of the paperwork or the drama if it didn’t work out.
Penelope, Emily, and JJ cornered you by the coffee wanting every dirty detail of your hookup with Spencer. They were understanding when you explained you made it all up to defend him. Rossi seemed amused by the gossip. When you tried to set the record straight, he said “What you kids do behind closed doors is your business.”
Morgan was a different story entirely. He greeted Spencer with a high five. “My man! You could have told me. You and Y/N, huh? I’ve seen you two all cuddled up after cases. I should’ve guessed.” Despite Spencer denying anything between you, Derek couldn’t be convinced otherwise.
A few weeks passed, the gossip had been long forgotten with all the cases you had been working on. Your first free weekend, Rossi invited everyone to his house for a cooking lesson. The wine was flowing, even Spencer had a few glasses.
He was chatting with Derek about some girl he met through his Dr Who fan club. Spencer described her as his dream girl, but he was nervous to ask her out. Derek slapped him playfully on the back. “At least you’re not a virgin anymore, Pretty Boy. You should have plenty of confidence with the ladies now.”
Spencer’s face fell. He stormed out of the house. You followed after him, concerned for your friend. “Hey, what’s wrong?” You catch up to him, sitting on the step beside him. “I’m just tired of all the comments on my personal life. Just because I don’t have a different girl in my bed every night doesn’t mean I’m a virgin. Can I ask you something?”
“Sure, anything.” You reply laying your head on his shoulder. “Why did you say all that stuff at the bar?” He places his head on top of yours. His mop of messy brown hair flowing down your cheek. “I didn’t mean to offend you. I was just trying to stand up for you. I wasn’t going to let anyone talk to you like that.”
“I know that. I meant… Never mind.” He lifts his head and scoots over, distancing himself from you. “What is it? You know you can talk to me about anything, right?” He sighs looking everywhere but at you. “Why did you say I was a perfect lover and that thing about the dictionary?”
“It just kinda came out. I guess I said it because that’s what I always imagined it would be like.” Finally he looks at you. “You’ve imagined doing that with me?” His voice raises several octaves when he asks. You nod your head in response. You could tell the conversation was taking an awkward turn so you change the subject.
“So tell me about this dream girl. You’ve been keeping secrets!” He smiles sheepishly. “Her name’s Chloe. She’s brilliant. We like a lot of the same things. She speaks three languages. I want to ask her out on a date, but all that stuff Morgan said is messing with my head. What if I’m not enough for her? I’ve only been with one woman. I’m not exactly skilled in that department.”
He swallows hard, self doubt sketched all over his soft features. “I would like to have more experience before I take her out. So I can be more confident.” “I have a crazy idea. You can say no if you want. But what if we slept together? You want more experience and I haven’t been with anyone in a long time. It would be great practice for you since we are comfortable with each other. I would tell you what you need to improve on. And it would be a good stress reliever for me. What do you think?”
Spencer studies your face carefully looking for any signs of this being a cruel joke. When he is certain you meant it, he answers. “What about our friendship? I don’t want to mess this up.” He gestures between you.
“Of course we will still be friends. It’s not like we are going to fall in love. Think of it as a business transaction. We won’t let emotions get in the way. It will be strictly business.”
“No feelings?” He asks reaching his outstretched pinky towards you. “No feelings.” You confirm hooking your pinky with his.

This is a good starting point but its not exhaustive by any means...
#Research 101: Part 1
##    How to find a good research topic?
It’s best to familiarize yourself with a discipline or topic as broadly as possible by looking beyond academia
Tips:
Be enthusiastic, but not unrealistic. For example, you might be tempted to throw yourself into finding out to what extent an entire economy has become circular, but it may already be challenging and tricky enough to find out which building materials are being recycled in the construction sector, and in what ways.
Be open-minded but beware of cul-de-sacs. You should always find out first whether enough is known about a topic already, or you might find yourself wasting a lot of time on it.
Be creative but stay close to the assignment. This starts with the topic itself; if one learning objective of the assignment is to carry out a survey, it isn’t helpful to choose a topic for which you need to find respondents on the other side of the world. One place where you can look for inspiration is current events.
Although professors and lecturers tend to be extremely busy, they are often enthusiastic about motivated and smart students who are interested in their research field. You do need to approach them with focused questions, though, and not just general talk such as: ‘Do you know of a good topic for me?’ In many cases, a good starting point is the scholar themselves. Do a search on them in a search engine, take a look at their university web page, read recent publications,
In most university towns, you’ll come across organizations that hold regular lectures, debates, and thematic evenings, often in partnership with or organized by university lecturers and professors. If you’re interested in transdisciplinary research where academic knowledge and practical knowledge come together, this is certainly a useful place to start your search.
If you want to do interdisciplinary research, it is essential to understand and work with concepts and theories from different research fields, so that you are able to draw links between them (see Menken and Keestra (2016) on why theory is important for this). With an eye to your ‘interdisciplinary’ academic training, it is therefore a good idea to start your first steps in research with concepts and theories.
##How to do Lit Review:
Although texts in different academic disciplines can differ significantly in terms of structure, form, and length, almost all academic articles (research articles and literature reports) share a number of characteristics:
They are published in scholarly journals with expert editorial boards
These journals are peer-reviewed
These articles are written by authors who have no direct commercial or political interest in the topic on which they are writing
There are also non-academic research reports such as UN reports, data from statistics institutes, and government reports. Although these are not, strictly speaking, peer-reviewed, the reliability of these sources means that their contents can be assumed to be valid
You can usually include grey literature in your research bibliography, but if you’re not sure, you can ask your lecturer or supervisor whether the source you’ve found meets the requirements.
Google and Wikipedia are unreliable: the former due to its commercial interests, the latter because anyone, in principle, can adjust the information and few checks are made on the content.
disciplinary and interdisciplinary search machines with extensive search functions for specialized databases, such as the Web of Science, Pubmed, Science Direct, and Scopus
Search methods All of these search engines allow you to search for scholarly sources in different ways. You can search by topic, author, year of publication, and journal name. Some tips for searching for literature: 1. Use a combination of search terms that accurately describes your topic. 2. You should use mainly English search terms, given that English is the main language of communication in academia. 3. Try multiple search terms to unearth the sources you need. a. Ensure that you know a number of synonyms for your main topic b. Use the search engine’s thesaurus function (if available) to map out related concepts.
During your search, it is advisable to keep track of the keywords and search combinations you use. This will allow you to check for blind spots in your search strategy, and you can get feedback on improving the search combinations. Some search engines automatically keep a record of this.
Exploratory reading How do you make a selection from the enormous number of articles that are often available on a topic? Keep the following four questions in mind, and use them to guide your literature review: ■■ What is already known about my topic and in which discipline is the topic discussed? ■■ Which theories and concepts are used and discussed within the scope of my topic, and how are they defined? ■■ How is my topic researched and what different research methods are there? ■■ Which questions remain unanswered and what has yet to be researched?
$$ Speed reading:
Run through the titles, abstracts, and keywords of the articles at the top of your list and work out which ideas (concepts) keep coming back.
Next, use the abstract to figure out what these concepts mean, and also try to see whether they are connected and whether this differs for each study.
If you are unable to work out what the concepts mean, based on the context, don’t hesitate to use dictionaries or search engines.
Make a list of the concepts that occur most frequently in these texts and try to draw links between them.
A good way to do this is to use a concept map, which sets out the links between the concepts in a visual way.
All being well, by now you will have found a list of articles and used them to identify several concepts and theories. From these, try to select the theories and concepts that you want to explore further. Selecting at this stage will help you to frame and focus your research. The next step is to discover to what extent these articles deal with these concepts and theories in similar or different ways, and how combining these concepts and theories leads to different outcomes. In order to do this, you will need to read more thoroughly and make a detailed record of what you’ve learned.

The Supermarket
supermarket!simon x reader cw: stalking, dark simon riley
Part two
1 │2 │3
Simon Riley hasn't experienced kindness, so when you show him some, he goes a little crazy.
Tumblr media
Simon Riley's had an unarguably difficult life, from his childhood to his current occupation, he hasn't experienced much kindness.
He's been in his line of work for a vast amount of time, been through countless missions, seen all kinds of things, and his views of the world have consequentially been tainted.
But it isn't just the missions that severed his perception of the world, he's been let down time and time again by several individuals, relatives, teammates, strangers. He doesn't believe anyone could truly be good.
With his life experiences, he'd be a fool to believe any act of kindness or show of good would not be followed by an ulterior motive.
Which is why when he encounters you, he's perplexed.
- He's on leave, once again, returning to a so-called "home", barely furnished, with equally less in the fridge.
The smell of smoke and debris following him, he decidedly heads straight for a shower. Rinsing his body of any reminders of his most recent assignment, he gets out clean, in a literal sense. He doesn't think could ever be clean.
He makes his way out, deciding to head to the local supermarket down the street from his flat. Not being in the mood to drive, he thinks the walk might help him unwind. It doesn't.
The fluorescent lights illuminate the space, uncomfortably bright, he goes around with a shopping basket, filling it up with the essentials, some organic shit that Johnny recommended to him, and a six-pack.
He heads toward the lines, numbers of people at each register, some even lined up inside the aisles themselves. He chooses the cashier that looks the fastest, based on the speed of her scanning and bagging.
The line continues to slowly progress and he's lightly tapped by the cart behind him. Turning around to look, he sees the person behind him's been shoved into by the cart behind her. And from the look on her face, it wasn't as light as the slight tap he got.
He's almost sure she's getting ready to blow up at him, the little fuckers got the most shit-eating grin, with no ounce of a sorry, done almost deliberately.
He awaits the forms of screaming, lecturing, anger, but she simply turns around with a hand soothing her back. Almost unphased. Being somewhat surprised he turns back.
But he can't mind his business for too long as an older man approaches you, probably his dickhead father. He once again expects you to tell him off, to control his son. You however are courteous, kind? Offering an understanding look and turning back.
Again unusual, statistically people tend to create a scene, especially when they've been hurt, it's human nature to get angry, and so once again he wonders why you would just take it?
Turning back around he sets that aside, not wanting to read into it, he continues waiting.
-
By the time his turn comes, he's over the noise and the fucking lights. Everything's been bagged and the last step to freedom is to pay the overpriced store. He reaches a hand into his pocket, searching for his wallet, empty. He shoves his hand into the other one, again empty. He searches his sweatshirt pocket to be met with the same fate.
Empty.
Just as he's deciding to forget the entire thing and leave, he's interrupted by a soft voice.
"Hey, y'know what it's okay I got it." a smile followed, one that twists something in his heart. He looks at you, the same unusually calm stranger behind him. He searches your face, eyes for an explanation, did you want something from him?
After a beat he replies, he doesn't need your help, isn't some man to feel bad for. And so he turns going to leave, to escape you. Before he can get anywhere at all you quip back a reply and pay. Claiming it was "No problem.", so fast he hasn't had time to process what the hell this all means.
He's confused, conflicted, turning around to face you, studying you once again.
Searches for something, a hint of an ulterior motive, of frustration at his lack of words, a sign that you'll do something, anything to finally prove him right.
All he sees are innocent eyes, not even a twitch of a brow as you look at him and avert your eyes back to your cart. Acting as if you hadn't just paid a hefty sum for a stranger you've only met. He tries to figure you out, the tired slump of your shoulder, the honey-like voice you use to talk to others, the way you stand with a certain uncertainty.
He doesn't come to any conclusions, snapping back to realize he's been staring too long. He gives you a grumbled thank you, grabs his bags, and leaves.
Walking out the door for the trek back to his flat, he can't stop thinking about you, you've confused him, ensnared him, people like you don't exist. Haven't existed in a while, at least not in his life.
Kind, gentle words, with a hint of something else.
Something inside hims snapped, and he'd be damned if he gave up trying to figure you out. Because you've already embedded yourself into his brain.
-
Simon Riley's never claimed to have a strong sense of morality, never claimed to have any at all.
The lines to cross are practically invisible, especially when it comes to you.
And so what he does next, is nothing short of justifiable for him. Because it’s for you.
Tumblr media
had to write a dual pov just to show how different him and reader are, her reactions and behaviour aren’t a big deal to her but to simon, he’s just 🤯
this was a short chapter, but part three is coming! working on the mapping/where to go, if you have any suggestions, things you’d like to see, or anything to say, my asks are open

🌿
Tumblr media
unfortunately the only way to solve not wanting to create things is to not create things until you want to create things again.
"but Six!" i hear you protest over the angry yells of all my followers. "that can't be true! i hate that!"
i hate it too. But listen up you self loathing chucklefucks this is IMPORTANT.
if your brain and body is telling you that you are tired and that you need to take a break, fucking listen to them. Do not ignore them and continue making things anyways.
I do not give a fuck about your making one thing per day streak. I do not give a fuck about your follower count or engagement or statistics or whatever the fuck. I do not fucking care how stubborn you are. This rule is set in the laws of the universe itself just like the laws of physics are.
If you do not schedule time for yourself to recharge, your body will automatically do it for you and it WILL NOT ASK POLITELY.
that's what burnout and writer's block IS! you cant make shit if you're too fucking tired and depressed and busy trying to function as a person and don't have any energy left over for creative work! creating things takes ENERGY and EFFORT even the most self loathing low quality shitpost stick figure youve ever doodled on the back of an napkin. That takes effort too. This is your body realizing that you're going past your own limits despite everything and forcibly shutting you down so that you physically fucking cannot anymore for your own health.
Full stop.
If you take the time that you need to rest and regain energy and use it instead to continue doing things that require energy, your body will force you to allocate that time to rest at some point eventually.
So yeah. Sleep in hard over the weekends. Do nothing. Be unproductive. Fuck capitalism and FUCK the Protestant work ethic. I am being so fucking serious right now. This isn't just me repeating what I've heard, this is me sharing things that I've had to learn the hard way over the span of literal fucking years because my dumb ass kept ignoring it too.
You are allowed to, and encouraged to, politely turn down outings with friends and family if you're too tired.
You are allowed to, and encouraged to, take a day off from school or work if you wake up and know in your bones that you are too tired. (Make sure to let your teachers know beforehand. They'll understand. Skipping a day of work is a whole nother can of radioactive horses that I don't want to open right now but others here may have advice. Check the notes.)
You are allowed to, and encouraged to, do nothing.
You are allowed to, and encouraged to, be "lazy" (if you're not enjoying the forced time off, you're not being lazy).
If you can only do the bare minimum to take care of yourself (i.e making low-effort meals, only using the bathroom twice a day, etc) then that's okay too. The more you rest, the more energy you'll slowly build up to do more things like going to the grocery store so that you don't starve and getting those assignments done and taking an extra two minutes to make yourself a glass of something warm in the mornings so that you don't want to die quite as much. Also, when you can, ask your friends for a script and call your doctor about prescribing you depression medication because I love you and this is not normal and you deserve better.
Living life is not supposed to make you want to die, and surviving is not the same as living.
your body has a built in hierarchy of needs and at the top of the list is creating things, which you can only do once you're at a certain level of energy and wellness. if something's wrong, your drive to create will be the first to go.
it's scary, but you'll be okay
be gentle and kind to yourself. imagine that your brain and body is a horse: kicking it when it's down and yelling at it to move won't help. you have to meet it where it's at and feed it and comfort it until it's ready to move on again. you can't write trail songs if you've got no path to roam
this quickly spiraled out of my hands but i am very passionate about this subject and also i love u. good luck.

ok but we need to hear more about college dick now👀👀
hehe ask and u shall receive because ohhh myyy dick in college is such a messsssssss but like so pretty it’s almost unfair
i love the idea of dick and a bunch of his friends getting a house together with the intent of being Normal for the first time in a while, which means being absolute menaces as most 20 smth yr old guys are
very much known for being a party house bordering a frat but all the guys r so nice that it’s rlly hard to think of them like that. it’s a space where he can let go, feel like himself and with the encouragement of his friends, dick puts the brakes on like relationship hunting and just has fun..
he’s been in pretty committed relationships since he was old enough to be and has always struggled with casual dating let alone sleeping with people he barely know. but when dick learns there r ppl out there looking for the same thing and not everyone wants to b the next future ex mr/mrs. grayson it makes it a lil easier to be his charming self with no bounds <33
and then he mets you and it’s the usual routine, flirting you to his bedroom which is in the basement—of course—well alllllmost doing so until you vanish out of his grasp for reasons dick cannot discern (you weren’t here for him silly)
and while he’s not like one of those oh i wanted to hit and couldn’t so im gonna chase you types, dick does have to reconcile with the fact your friends with roy and spend a lot of time at the house now
which also means he learns how cool you r and how goofy he feels for just tryna sleep with you
and despite his friends vouching for him you really only see (and have heard the numerous rumours) dick as a rich playboy and that’s not for you. plus he’s def a business or poli sci major……….but with a psych minor bc it feels the most practical despite how boring dick finds most of his classes
though when he realizes your both in a psych elective together he’s all toothy grins and obnoxious air which isn’t helping his case but of course he’s a decent student and when you mentioned hating statistics—you were stuck with the worse prof outta the two—dick jumped at the chance to help
you were sooooooo skeptical and even though agreed you kept brushing him off until dick just started helping you when you were over to hang out. he drops a textbook in your lap while sitting in roy’s bed or starts reviewing your notes and adding examples while your hanging out on the living room floor building lego sets with everyone else.
and dick did that a lot—sure it was his house and roy was his best friend along with all of his other housemates but dick never hesitated to insert himself into whatever you were doing when you came over. and it shouldn’t surprised you but everyone being so..unbothered by it had you confused. like maybe that’s how dick is but it spoke bounds to their closeness and was the First time you actually saw a little more to dick than just some campus hottie douchebag who threw parties to get laid
and while you weren’t about to tell dick that, you did start coming over with the intent of working on stats together. it usually meant dick having to re-lecture whatever your prof barely managed to explain and helping you with the page long equations needed for assignments
and dick keeps it as platonic as possible, on a mission to prove he’s not the person you think he is and not only because he wanted to be with you—well yeah he does—but because dick cares what you think about him. he knows his friends care about you and value what you have to say and he wants you to know it’s the same for him
and maaaybe you see that too but dick needs to suffer a little more
bonus: you talk to dick abt ppl you’re interested in at some point (either genuinely or to mess with him) when he insists on always hanging out with you and roy. and while he gives advice with a smile, still trying to prove his capacity for mature, platonic relationships, dick screams into his pillow later that night when he goes over the convo again and again and agai—
bonus bonus: he’s probably on the school’s gymnastics team <3

Oh wow you actually give quite good advice. Got any advice for highschoolers? I just started my freshman year (although probably some advice won’t be terribly applicable since the entire school is 25 people and my class is 4 kids, but it’s worth a shot. Also it might help other people.)
YES! I DO! So I went to a year and a half of high school before moving up to college and I HATED it. Here are some tips that would have made it suck less.
Learn to have a thicker skin. Easier said than done, I KNOW, but if someone says something mean to you, you can't let it bother you forever. Accept that they're just an asshole or are insecure and taking it out on others, and move on. Your worth is not defined by what some 14 year old bitch says about you.
It is not lame to have a good relationship with teachers! Talk to them, hang out with them during lunch, don't care what anyone else thinks.
Pack yourself a lunch every single day. Its healthier and you'll have more time to hang out during lunch.
Get involved! Join clubs, do student government or debate, do cast or crew for the fall musical. I did costumes for my freshman fall musical, and it's how I met one of my best friends who is still my best friend almost 5 years later (if you're reading this, you know who you are. ily <3)
Don't feel pressured to dress a certain way for fashion trends. I was a freshman in 2019/2020 so vsco girl/cottage core/""alt"" (that wasn't even really alternative) were very popular and I basically didn't wear any of my favorite clothes for a while. Just do what makes you happy.
Get a 504 or an IEP (educational/school accommodation plans) if you need one. They're life savers (if anyone wants another post on what was on my 504 for accommodations, lmk!)
Your body is inevitably going to change. Most people gain weight when they're in high school. Despite being a teenager, you are still a CHILD. Your body isn't going to look like an instagram model's. Don't let it get to you.
Always carry around pads or tampons with you. Even if you don't have periods. You never know when you or someone you know will get a surprise period.
Bring deodorant in your backpack every day. You will need it, even if you apply it in the morning.
Don't be that person who puts on heavy perfumes or body sprays in class. Just don't.
Take honors/AP classes if you can! They're honestly not that much more difficult and they look great on your record.
Do every single extra credit assignment!
Use google docs for everything
Take notes in every class, even if you already know the subject and notes aren't required.
Learn to study in high school, even if you don't need to. You WILL need to study in college and it's good to already know your studying style.
Take lots of photos! Even if you are insecure. You don't have to look at them, but someday you'll want to have them. I was deeply insecure in high school and have barely any photos of myself, and I deeply regret that.
You know those posts that are like "life may suck but at least I'm not 15 again"? Those posts are real. High school is NOT AT ALL the best years of your life, despite what everyone may tell you. Things can always get better.
Try not to date much in high school. Statistically, you are not going to marry your freshman year partner. Even if you think they're "the one", don't take it super seriously. You both have a lot of developing to do.
DO NOT EVER IN YOUR LIFE DATE A SENIOR AS A FRESHMAN. YOU ARE NOT MATURE FOR YOUR AGE. IT DOES NOT MAKE YOU COOL. THEY ARE NOT DIFFERENT OR SPECIAL. A 17/18 YEAR OLD HAS ABSOLOUTLEY NO BUSINESS DATING A 14/15 YEAR OLD. DO NOT GO THERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is a LOT of pressure to lose your virginity in high school. That is bullshit. It's okay to not have sex until later. It's okay to never have sex. Anyone who tries to pressure you or tell you otherwise, is NOT someone you want in your life. The right sexual partner will respect your boundries and not try to pressure you into anything.

Fic is under the cut.
The day after Jaemin’s party, you considered staying home instead of going to your classes. You were devastated by your fight with Shotaro the night before, both because you felt guilty about the things you’d said and because you knew that he would probably never want to speak to you again. You’d never hear the end of it from your parents if you started skipping your classes and it affected your grades, though, so off you went.
When you got to your statistics class, you really wanted to try to sit somewhere different. Every seat except for the one next to Shotaro was taken, though, because of course it was. However, sitting next to him didn’t mean that you had to actually talk to him, so you didn’t say a word. Not talking to him hurt you, but you figured that he probably wouldn’t want you to.
Once class began, Ms. Kim explained, “Before we continue, I want to talk to you all about a research paper that I’m assigning. Each of you will need to choose a company that uses probability in its decision making. Then, you’ll need to write a paper about how the business uses probability. You’ll have three weeks to complete this assignment. More details and places to find information will be sent in an email by the end of the day.”
When class ended, Shotaro considered trying to talk to you. Then, he remembered the things that you’d said to him the night before. He missed your friendship, but your words hurt him in a way that he’d never expected from you. In the end, he figured that it was best for the two of you not to talk.
Since he really didn’t want to think about you, he decided to try to do something fun in between his classes. He really didn’t want to be alone, though, so he decided to call Wonbin. When he didn’t answer, Shotaro sent a text that said, “Hey. Just wanted to see if you wanted to grab lunch or something?”
Wonbin replied to the text almost immediately, saying, “Sorry, I can’t. Hanging out with Karina right now. Maybe another time?”
“Yeah, of course. Sorry to bug you,” Shotaro texted back.
Wonbin didn’t respond to any texts after that, and Shotaro continued wandering around campus in an attempt to get his mind off of you. In his travels, he ran into none other than Chaewon. He’d also been desperately trying to avoid her since Jaemin’s party, but in the end, he decided he’d rather talk to her than you. So, he gave her a smile and asked, “Hey, Chae, how are you today?”
“Hey, ‘Taro! My environmental science class is kicking my ass, but other than that, I’m actually in a fairly good mood! How are you?” Chaewon replied.
“I’m doing ok, thanks. Would you like to get lunch with me?”
“That sounds great. I just need to let Yunjin know that I’m gonna be getting to her house later than I originally planned,” Chaewon chirped before walking away.
While Shotaro waited for Chaewon to come back, he couldn’t help but think about you. He wondered what you were going to do for the research paper that was assigned and what your score was going to be when the project ended. A small part of him couldn’t help but hope that you would do poorly on the assignment. Originally, he just wanted to prove that he was smart enough to keep up with you. After last night, though, he decided that he really wanted to prove that he was smart enough to get a better grade than you, at least in the class that the two of you shared.
Shotaro quickly found himself regretting asking Chaewon to get food with him. Still, he made a conscious effort to look like he was happy to see his ex, smiling and hugging her when she came back to where he stood waiting for her. When she let go, he asked, “So, where do you wanna go?”
“Anywhere is fine with me.”
“How about the café that’s across the street from your apartment?”
“That sounds great,” Chaewon said with a grin.
As you made your way to your car, planning to go home for a bit before your next class started, you saw Shotaro walking across the parking lot with the same girl that you’d seen him talking to at Jaemin’s party. You were pretty sure he said that her name was Chaewon, but you didn’t really care. All you cared about was the smile on Shotaro’s face as he held hands with the girl that he’d told you he had no interest in. Just like you thought last night, he was full of shit.
In a moment that you’d probably regret later, you decided to try to track down Sungchan. You hadn’t gotten any of his contact information at the party, but you were certain that you could find him somewhere on campus. You ended up finding him sitting on a bench near the parking lot, sipping a coffee and looking at his phone. You tried desperately not to let your nerves show as you walked up to him and said, “Hi. Sungchan, right?”
“Yeah. You’re (Y/N), right? I think I remember dancing with you at Jaemin’s party last night.”
“Yeah, we did dance for a bit. Sorry I left so abruptly last night. Some stuff came up.”
“That’s ok, gorgeous. I’m just happy that I got to see you again.”
You smiled and asked, “Would you like to go hang out at the park? I have a bit of time to kill before my next class, and I’d really like to spend it with you.”
“That sounds great. I’ll meet you there?”
“Works for me.”
You and Sungchan walked to your cars together, getting to know each other better as the two of you talked. The more you talked to him, the more you found yourself forgetting about Shotaro, which you were incredibly grateful for. As you drove to the park, the only thing you thought about was whether you would want a relationship with Sungchan. In the end, you figured that it would probably depend on how your time at the park went.
Your date at the park with Sungchan went much better than you thought it would. He was kind, attentive, and funny, not to mention incredibly attractive. Every cheesy joke that he told made you feel weak in the knees, and when he told you more about what he was studying, the obvious passion that he had only made you want him more. By the end of your date, you could definitely see yourself spending more time with him.
The more Sungchan talked to you, the more he thought about how badly he wanted a deeper connection with you. Sure, a lot of the things you talked about wouldn’t typically keep his attention, but he found that he did actually care about stuff like the history of horror movies when you were the one explaining it to him. You also really seemed to care about the things that he had to say, which was greatly appreciated. It was a refreshing change of pace from his last relationship.
Before you and Sungchan left the park to go about the rest of your plans for the day, you made sure to exchange numbers so that you could talk more. Once that was done, he walked you back to your car before getting into his own. You appreciated the time with him, but as you watched him drive off, your thoughts once again drifted back to Shotaro. Not wanting to ruin the rest of your day with unpleasant thoughts, you decided to call Karina and ask her if she wanted to get shitfaced after classes as yet another distraction. She readily agreed, and you discussed when you wanted to leave. Then, you went back to campus for your afternoon classes.
The rest of your classes went by quickly, and once they were done, you went back home to get ready for your night of fun with Karina. If it wasn’t sitting in the basket with the rest of your dirty laundry, you would have considered wearing the dress you’d worn to Jaemin’s party. Instead, however, you opted for a much more casual look: a tee shirt decorated with the logo of a band you used to be obsessed with and black jeans. Sure, it was a simple outfit, but you still thought that you looked sexy in it. So, off you went to your favorite bar.
The last person that you expected to see at the bar was Wonbin. He was right by the door when you and Karina arrived, however, and your friend was clearly happy to see him. Pretty much immediately, Karina abandoned you in favor of spending time with Wonbin. You wanted to be annoyed, but when you saw the way she looked at him, you couldn’t really be upset. You were really bored, though, so you decided to try to find something, or someone, to do.
While you were on your way to the dance floor, you ran into none other than Sungchan. The two of you made eye contact, and he said, “Fancy seeing you here. Are you here alone?”
“Yeah. I came with a friend, but she ditched me when we ran into the guy she’s been talking to.”
“I would say I’m sorry to hear that, but if it means I get to spend the night with you instead, I’m really not.”
You had to admit that you were surprised by Sungchan’s boldness, but you did enjoy the attention that he was giving you. So, in response to his shameless attempt at flirting, you asked, “Who said you would get to spend the night with me?”
“I mean, we’re here at the same time, aren’t we? Why not spend the night together?”
“That’s a good point.”
Sungchan smiled and wrapped his arms around your waist before starting to dance. You moved in time with each other while a shitty pop song played over the bar’s speakers, and for a little while, nothing else in the world mattered. Shotaro didn’t matter, your statistics paper didn’t matter, not even the fights you’d been having with your parents mattered. All you had to worry about was not accidentally stepping on Sungchan’s toes as you danced with him. A night free of stress was all you wanted when you called Karina, and thanks to Sungchan, that was exactly what you got.
