I swear what do they put into Midwestern Emo music like hello The Front Bottoms?? Modern Baseball?? Penelope Scott??? instant serotonin (but like the depressed version)
You say I'm changing, Sorry I didn't know we had to stay the same [-Be Nice to Me]
nothing calms my brain and overwhelms my heart in quite the same way its a wonderful feeling of being able to scream "I want to be loved with such a closeness that I cannot properly communicate" while still getting out the anger of a punk song

NPMD Band AU incoming!!!
I was at work just thinking about Richie as you do and just. picture:
Richie has an emo phase in middle school- he's not long moved in with his Uncle Paul and Paul is all 'how tf do I bond with this child' and buys him a bass guitar because Richie wants one or something. Richie gets out of this phase, but he keeps the bass guitar and keeps practicing.
Eventually, Peter and Ruth find out and Ruth goes :0!!! We should be in a band! Because Ruth is one of those people who owns every obscure musical instrument ever (and she ends up playing the keyboard + doing backing vocals (because of her anxiety)).
Pete is the lead singer- he doesn't think he's actually that good, but Ruth and Richie convince him and he's super good <3
So I have some vague ideas of what I want to do! I'll make separate posts on a tag for people to use, but this will just list the main stuff!!
Richie plays bass + helps write songs
Peter is lead singer and writer
Ruth plays keyboard + backing vocals. Also supplied a lot of tech like microphones etc
Steph (when she joins) plays drums!
Ruth is relieved about that cause she doesn't have to fake drums/beats w/ her tech skills lol.
Steph is also REALLY good at lyrics she just doesn't believe in herself
She and Peter lift each other up and write the songs together
She also convinces him to learn electric guitar (because this dork with an electric guitar absolutely shredding is hilarious to me)
Richie helps him teach himself.
Ofc this has to be a Max redemption AU so Max is There Too Guys
He's just there to cheer people on :)
I think some kind of Rock/funk genre maybe? I always think of Sturgill Simpson's 'Sound & Fury' when I think of them.
Oh Grace absolutely shreds on the flute but I haven't really found a place for her in the group yet...if you have any suggestions let me know!
They practice in Paul's garage and Have Never Done A Gig Ever

hot take: New York can play the guitar
I feel we’ve assessed this and have understood that he seems like the typa guy to play the electric guitar
unless it’s js me
-he plays songs with the midwestern states (like for the midwestern “emo” type songs [ex: front bottoms]) if they need a guitarist (Illinois also is one too)
-California forces him to play songs from the RHCP’s albums. The songs he makes him play mostly are: Californication, Can’t Stop, By The Way, Otherside, and many others. Because the RHCP’s originated in CA, he knows every. single. song and forces NY to learn it (with love, ofc). As an example, Aeroplane, Bicycle Song and Quixoticelixer. (All bangers, listen to them 🙏) Cal will sing the song that NY plays.
-The northeast had their own band. Different bands = different lead singers. Some of them are:
Pearl Jam: Massachusetts (literally voice claim. I feel like he js sounds like a toned down version of Eddie Vedder)
Sublime: New York
RHCP’s: New Jersey (if not thim, then CA)
Nirvana: not decided yet, but leaning towards Pennsylvania
The parts of the band:
Drums: Rhode Island
(usually) Lead Singer: Massachusetts
Bass Guitar: Connecticut & Pennsylvania
Electric Guitar: New York & New Jersey
Acoustic Guitar: New York & Massachusetts
(if any) Percussion: New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine
Backing Vocals: usually the guitarists
+ if the song has any other unusual instruments, they just fill in.
as an example, in the song Wrong Way by Sublime, there is a trumpet solo.
I hc NY as a person who plays the trumpet
- Georgia and New York sometimes play together. One song that got me thinking abt it is Creep by the Stone Temple Pilots (not the Radiohead one)
Georgia plays the acoustic guitar and sings for most of the song until the other guitar plays
New York only has the part which says “I’m half the man I used to be”
they’re both in unison for the “take time with a wounded hand…” part
silly guys
I’ve had this on my mind for a couple of days (yes, I am flexing my music taste on you/j)

Rock band au? (Inspired by your pop star au and emo Alma )
Alma - Manager
Pepa - lead singer
Isabela - Second lead singer
Camilo - Drums
Mirabel - Bassist (I just think it fits)
Alma is an emo, Pepa is a goth, Isabela is a Punk, Camilo is Grunge, and Mirabel is a Scene girl with some Kawaii/Lolita traits. The typical music they make sounds like sad/angry 2000’s rock. (Like Linkin park, Drowning pool, The white stripes, red hot chili peppers, etc.)
I feel like they tour around for 3-4 months and take the rest of the year off to be with family/finish school stuff.
Stage names!!!?
Pepa - Thunderstorm
Isabela - Rose thorn
Camilo - Chemical Chameleon?
Mirabel - Lonesome butterfly?
INSPIRED BY MY STUPID GOOFY AUS OMG I’M CRYINGGGGG 🤭🤭🤭 IF YOU HAVE MORE LEMME KNOW RAHHHH 🦈🦈🦅🦅🦅
No, but this is so cool. I don’t know if I’ve ever said this, but I really think the Madeigals could work as a music group 😭 hence the time travel idol group/pop star au/emo Alma lol.
EARLY 2000s EDGINESS?? SO RADDDDD‼️‼️honestly I think those genres fit really well. They def went to Alma (possibly Pepa as well for the younger kids) to take inspiration from fr fr Tour makes a lot of sense, I doubt they’d do a year long tour 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️
I also have them a few extra roles (suggestions obv), just small ones like back up vocals for Mirabel and Camilo. I made Isabela the Lead guitarist, because a lot of those bands have an electric, plus whenever Isabela isn’t singing lead, she can play guitar. Same for Pepa, when she’s not singing lead, she could play the keyboard.
Alma is just the manager lmaoooo 💀 (possibly producer?? She was pretty big at her peak and still kinda is, and could have a company) maybe??? She does features in some songs idk
Mirabel made them kandi 🌚🌚 Alma has one, it just gets tucked under her bracelets
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are terrible but whatever. Gave Alma an actual design so that’s a win in my book 👩‍🎤

Monthly Music: March 2024 A STACKED MONTH!
Music that was released in or around March!
"Damn!" Zack Bia & Teezo Touchdown. Nasty dance track that pulses in your veins and takes you over, a bit.
"Miracle" Bayside. Pretty typical Bayside track but if you want some quality yet accessible alt rock, here we are.
"Ghost - Lofi" Mystery Skulls. Remember Mystery Skulls? Here's an instrumental reconstruction of their old song to study to. Very lullaby-adjacent. They did LOFI versions of the whole album but this is the most effective transformation.
"Not Sorry" & "Edible" & "Tell Me What You Want" Flo Milli. These three tracks are very different highlights off of it. TMWYW is the most experimental beat but I think Edible is my favorite.
"I'm Ready" Chung Ha. Cunty kpop. Not her cuntiest track but... if you want a track to motivate you to work out and then do a death drop... give it a shot.
"I Can't Run" Real Farmer. This song has a raw quality--the vocals, the guitar, the bass all feel like they're stumbling past but they're going on an adventure you want to follow them on. Loud, demanding.
And the complete opposite, "Walk Like This" by Flo is smooth, slick, and a perfect update to a more nostalgic R&B vibe. Poppy and perfectly constructed.
"Kira Kira" Fancylabo. Lovely, synthetic Jpop. Perfume fans, check in here.
"Collarbone" Izzy Spears. Beats to ache to. Emo rap with a transcendental beat.
"Your Money, My Summer" Everything Everything. They released a full album and it's all great but this is a stand out for me because "God knows I wanna go home" as a refrain just... burrows into your soul and hollows out everything in its way. Alt rock. Of the non-pre-release singles, "Don't Ask Me to Beg," "Enter the Mirror" (the most commercial track, I think), & "Buddy, Come Over" are my favorites, though I loved the whole album.
"Value" Ado. If you like Queen Bee, check out this track. Ado's singing is so rich and haunting. J... pop rock? Pop opera? I don't know how to quantify Ado's sound.
"Year of the Vulture" The Wonder Years. Emos go check it out.
"Arintintin" Rico Nasty & Boys Noize. Crazy frog ass song. Horny, nonsensical, silly, horny. This mini album is kinda all over the place--a nostalgic sound without necessarily capturing the full vibe but I'm having a blast.
"Pull the Rope" Ibibio Sound Machine. Almost discordant, I think I can't do justice to describing this song, so I'll steal an excerpt from their website: "the golden era of West-African funk & disco [meets] modern post-punk & electro."
I did listen to the Beyonce album. I kinda thought some of it was... too clean? Too smooth? IDK, it needed more grit on top of the twang, but that said, stand outs for me are "Tyrant," "Daughter," "Bodyguard," "Riiverdance," and "II HANDS II HEAVEN." Also, I know I sound insane saying it sounded too slick when I normally love slick production but the very clean vocals kinda felt almost... separate from the instruments idk how to explain it.
Kavinsky fans should try listening to Justice & Miguel's "Saturnine," it has the night drive thrum.
"Digital Magic" Le Youth. Classic Le Youth sound, just good electronic music. I'm a digital feline!!!!! Overly yearning vocals for a dance track that doesn't warrant it, you LOVE to see it. For more dance music, Nia Archives has another track off her upcoming album, check out "Unfinished Business" if you want more UK drum & bass that strikes the soul.
I was gonna do a small section of throwback songs I'm into but this post is already jam packed?? So, in brief, "Shinigami" Kenshi Yonezu (fun, anime-esque Jrock), "Back on my Feet" Boom Boom Satellites (electric, intense JRock), "Dip It Low" Christina Milian (sexy 2000s pop R&B), and not quite a throwback but not from this month "Bella" Alé Araya (lowkey and yet sensual).

Larry Koopa info from my AU
Tumblr media
will update this later whenever I make new information lol
15 yrs | he/him | trans boy | aro/ace bi | 5'4" | autistic, ADHD, social anxiety, lactose intolerant
Larry Koopa
Arrogant, self-centered wannabe tough boy, secretly cowardice and shy. he can be pretty aggressive when angered, he's also very short-tempered. he has generally low empathy for others, and usually doesn't care for others (with the exception of his siblings, he cares about them a lot but has trouble expressing it.)
he can be a bit of a prankster like Lemmy, he loves to pull pranks on his siblings.
he is very easily distracted by the things that interest him, and it's also hard for him to focus on something, especially if there's a ton of things going on at that moment.
and like Lemmy, he is generally very naive, this is probably due to his age and his brain not being fully developed. but yeah, he is very easily tricked and fooled.
-selective mute / uses SL / Body language to communicate, usually in the form of charades.
Larry is very socially awkward and doesn't really like interacting with others that he doesn't know, plus not a lot of people understand sign language or charades which already makes it hard for Larry to communicate with them, and he can't really talk to them either as he's selective mute.
-being the youngest, he feels inferior to his older siblings.
-he is very athletic and sporty, he absolutely loves sports and most physical activity. his favourite sport is Tennis. he can be very overly competitive sometimes while playing, often getting angry whenever he loses.
-he is very fond of brushing/combing his hair, he spends literal hours on fixing and working on his hair and doesn't let anyone touch it. he is very overly protective of his hair.
-he uses a ton of hair products, his hair smells super nice because of it. his hair texture is also very soft and fluffy!
-he is very fuckin insecure about his looks, which is why he cares so much about his hair.
-he loves video games and watching cartoons with Lemmy. He loves playing Minecraft and Fortnite, and his favourite movie genres are action and fantasy, he also likes watching musicals.
-he loves to cheat, he loves to cheat at games and rig them.
-he absolutely sucks at games and is a very bad loser, which is why he cheats at most of them.
-he's very fond of music, he especially loves rock, metal, alternative, techno and dubstep music. he listens to Weezer
-Ludwug gives Larry piano lessons sometimes.
-he has a love for rock and punk fashion, he's also pretty fond of emo fashion.
-he can play multiple instruments, such as; the electric guitar, drums, piano and the violin. Ludwig pretty much taught him how to play the instruments.
-he keeps super hero action figures in his room.
-he loves hello kitty and DC super heroes.
-doesn't like to read actual books, instead, he reads comics.
-loves to steal, will steal your shit. he's very good at stealing things without others noticing, he's also very good at lock picking.
-prefers money over love.
-he knows almost all secret passage ways, entrances and rooms. he tends to use them a lot, usually to avoid others since he likes to be by himself a lot.
-has a long ass list of secrets from every person in the castle. he also stole Wendy's diary that one time, she found out who stole it immediately.
-a very light sleeper.
-doesn't like being away from his siblings for too long, he really hates it.
-tends to have a lot of nightmares, doesn't really like sleeping because of it.
-likes being in his room.
-he loves steak and all kinds of meat, he isn't all too fond of vegetables.
-he absolutely hates plain bread by itself, it makes him sick.
-he loves eating junk food and candy.
-he eats a lot. he also binge eats whenever he's stressed.
-he wishes to be more like Ludwig since he looks up to him the most. he also somewhat wants to be like Roy, he wants to be as strong as him someday.
-can easily tell who's lying, but he himself is a very terrible lier.
-has trouble picking up on sarcasm.
-he is very physically weak, but has a really good throwing arm.
-his handwriting looks like chicken scratches.
-he is very fond of the internet and pop culture.
-he is honestly the most innocent out of all the koopalings, aside from Lemmy.
-his favourite siblings are Ludwig, Wendy and Roy, as he looks up to them the most.
-he strokes his hair gently as a way to stimulate himself.
-when he was younger he had a lot of trouble with verbal communication, Lemmy taught him how to communicate through body language- basically in the form of charades.
-he hates loud noises, especially if it's sudden. he gets really easily startled and doesn't like it.
-Larry is somewhat an aquatic animal, as he can somewhat breath underwater, but only for a few hours.

So i came up with another DCA AU.
In short before the virus hit the pizza plex FazCo got bought out in a hostile corporate takeover.
The pizza plex is shut down and demolished (for killer robot in the basement reasons)
The glamrocks along with a recovered and repaired Bonnie continue doing the same music they always have there brand staying largely the same thought hey are moved from the plex to being an actual touring band
DJMM is sent out to DJ for clubs
Our dear sweet Daycare Attendant however is split into three bodies. one for Sun one for Moon and one for Eclipse. The new bodies are designed to be not only incredibly good looking but optimized to play music. There new boss seeing an opportunity has them learn music like humans rather then programing them then has them write there own songs with a fair bit of creative freedom as long as they can fit the bill of the Emo revival band there boss dictates.
However there new boss did not expect them to be good at this, there new boss did not expect them to have fun with this. They did not expect songs from the heart about how these pore robots have had there heart broken again and again.
And now there new boss has a hell of a band to manage and they are raking in the dough.
On the other side Sun Moon and Eclipse are suddenly granted not just a lot of creative freedom but a lot of freedom in general with the expectation of acting like any normal music stars.
The focus of the story would be on the DCA and probably will not have a Y/N.
focusing instead on how they change as people. When instead of being trapped and monitored and constantly told what to at risk of being tazed or scraped, they are given not only a lot more freedom but also privilege as they get more popular as a band.
Also the band name "Cry me the Stars" in very emo fashion as they where being put together as an emo revival band.
They are built on the same base moddle being largely human in the frame and face but there faces are a bit rounder and they all still have that iconic split down the middle though now they do have noses. they have claws on there fingers but they are guitar pick shaped and fully retractable. They stand about 6'7''
Sun is yellow in color pallet with orange star shaped freckles here and there on his arms and face. blue eyes and a set of interchangeable silicon rays he can move much like before. Singing voice: Alto with a fair bit of range into soprano Instruments: Electric & Acoustic guitar, later to branch out into brass instruments such as trumpet and saxophone Personality shift: eager to please, anxious, and fun loving -> cocky, demanding, party boy, knows for the most part he is in charge.
Moon is blue in color with silver ascents. Freckles are silver and star shaped only a few on the face. eyes are still red. Has ultra thin LED rope as hair that goes down past his shoulders. he can control the light and color and how they turn off and on. Singing Voice: tenner to alto Instruments: Electric Bass later branching out into string instruments such as cello and violin. Personality shift: not talkative, enjoys scarring people, actually a rather soft guy -> Out going, gets calmer, focuses in hard on the music.
Eclipse gets a mix of both designs with both the hair at a shorter length (to the shoulder) and rays (only 4) divided in half with a fade between blue and yellow and lots of star shaped freckles that are orange or silver based on if they are on the yellow or blue side. singing voice: Alto with some range into tenner and soprano Instruments: Drums, Synth, guys going to later go crazy with mixing software. Personality shift: mostly running off base daycare programing so extra sweet and joyful -> Total fucking diva
I'm going to try to write this as a fic i need something less combat oriented then Old Habits Die Hard.
I think im going to name the fic after there band Cry me the Stars.
But for the AU im thinking of just calling it ether "My Chemical Robot" or "Celestial Emo Bois"
If anyone has like emo song recs for feeding this fic please put them in the reblogs!!

Goldfield Trading Post 1/22/23
First off, I'll say that I like all of the band members of Citizen Snips individually. But from my vantage point, they have a seemingly talented jazz keys player stuck providing mostly just simple bass lines on the low end, a good heavy hitting rock drummer stuck slamming indie beats, a rhythm guitarist stuck with repetitive electric guitar riffs, and a decent indie lead guitarist/vocalist trying to keep it cohesively indie-sounding. There were definitely times where things seemed to almost come to one collective sound, but mostly they seemed like each member would be better off trying again with another band. As always, I'd love to eat my words and see them have success in the future; there's quite a lot of potential talent here.
As Anita Velveeta's set went along, I found myself asking more and more questions. If she's trying to rap or at least speak poetry over synth, why is there so much modulation on her voice? Why are the genres changing so much, from hardcore synth hip hop to soulful indie rock to screamo to melancholic country to midwest emo? But about halfway through her set, Anita had a moment of real vulnerability with the crowd, admitting to still learning to love her unmodified voice. And y'know, using a voice modulator to combat dysphoria is hardly the worst reason an artist has ever had to use the technology, though I believe her natural voice works great already, even with the frequent genre switches. I may have more questions than answers about Anita Velveeta, but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. It's possible that she sticks to one or two genres, fully embraces her voice, and flourishes in a more traditional musical path. It is also equally possible that at my ripe old age of 24, this type of act is the future and I'm going to be left behind, but I don't mind smiling and waving as pioneering artists blaze a new trail, successful or not.
Early Eyes is one of the more traditional "rock" groups I've seen in a while, though I'd say they have more energy and more bite than most straight up rock bands. Their smooth jazz influences are subtle but apparent, and the vocals often harken back to the 2000s post-grunge, pre-emo, pop-punk era, in a mixture that works better than upon first glance. Going back to their energy, their love for and dedication to the music is just apparent through the sheer determination and joy on their faces. And in regards to instrumentation, the guitar, bass, and drums are able to sound either chunky and bold, but also ethereal and beautiful, able to sync up and change at will. While they also had a sampling pad and vocal mods, they utilized them more effectively than the average indie band, utilizing them more as a tool than a full instrument, more a spice than a meal. I don't know how much more I can say about this group; they put on a good show, maybe the best I've seen to a group of 50 people. They made all 50 bob and dance for basically all of their set, even in a tiny, backwoods venue like Goldfield Trading Post. And for that, they have my gratitude for a great night out.

AMA Character Edition ~ Answers Part 1
Here are the first few questions! You can still ask your own :)
Q1: What are everyone’s favorite comfort meals?
A1: This one is weirdly the same for all of them: beef casserole.
The reason it’s the same is because it was Beverley’s speciality (and not *always* beef), and she’d make it for her favourite family members. So if Gran made you casserole, or you came over to find there was casserole for dinner/tea, you knew she was pleased with you, or you were in favour somehow. It was also mind-bendingly delicious.
Carrie has casserole when she goes over for tea, and that’s her first proper home-cooked hot meal in months. She later learns how to cook it, and the others then get it from her on request, so it is then un-weaponised as a meal and becomes one with positive associations, that they can just have whenever they want it. Since they all know the context of the original meal, which is unspoken between them but just a Thing they understand from their family dynamic, it’s The Meal that they sort of re-appropriate/reclaim for their own.
Tumblr media
Q2: Give me a fact about ricky that you’ve always wanted to give me but haven’t told me yet? feed me specifically
A2: Originally – and I don’t know if this is canon or not – Ricky actually lost his virginity to Sasha Shaw who collected all the cousins born in 1990 (same year as she was). They were 15, he was wasted and doesn’t really remember. It lasted less than 2mins. It happened the day he caught Wes and Layla at Aunty Em’s house, and was probably in response to that on some level, and a total waste of time for him, which is another reason why he doesn’t ever think about it or have any feelings about it whatsoever.
Tumblr media
Q3a: Tell us about songs that various characters would not listen to most of the time except for when they are feeling a certain kind of masochistic.
A3a: Carrie wouldn’t listen to Both Sides Now by Joni Mitchell unless she was feeling like she really needed to cry.
Ricky wouldn’t put the radio on at all unless he was exceptionally lonely and needed some sound.
Wes only listens to angry emo rock when he’s incredibly pissed off/certain kind of depressed and needs to sike himself up for something: then it’s usually Fall Out Boy, MCR etc.
Katy is pretty easy about what she listens to, but she hates Summertime Sadness and Boys of Summer equally, and wouldn’t listen to them unless she wanted to torture her soul.
Q3b: If they could, what instruments would everyone play?
A3b: Carrie would play piano (always wanted to, never learned, but the house had a music room with a piano forte, and it remembers). Ricky – not sure. He whistles bird calls canonically so maybe the flute, but I think he’d like to play something with strings that requires dexterity, maybe the violin. Wes – electric guitar. Katy: drums.
Q3c: And to keep running with the music theme, if everyone were to be in a band, who would do what and what would the band name be?
A3c: Something along the lines of Gods & Monsters, or Young Gods & Old Monsters?? It would be alt/emo/glam rock, ironically for Wes in canon. Something like that. Maybe a cross between The Struts and My Chemical Romance.
In this AU, Wes would be the frontman, lead singer/guitarist. Katy on drums, Ricky would be versatile and be the band member who can pick up any instrument and play it really well. If he’s musical in this AU, then instruments would be his hyperfixation. I think Carrie would actually be a roadie, a PA, or part of the team in a backstage way, and that’s how she and Ricky would meet and get together. They may have another band member, but unsure!
This would be a very “Rock Star Romance” type narrative but potentially told through interviews and memoir extracts, with the band on tour promoting a new album, with episodic dramas like Carrie rescuing Ricky from various self-destructive behaviours and situations, keeping Wes from going totally off the rails, and making sure Katy doesn’t get arrested and attends her anger management therapy sessions. She would definitely have slept with Wes multiple times in this AU but it wouldn’t be anything serious – FWB I think – but her and Ricky would be the solid partnership by the end.
The AU novel would be the same name as their band, I’m leaning to YGOM, and I think it would read a lot like a rock star autobiography or a bio compiled by a superfan in the industry/someone writing about their father and his life for Reasons. Ricky would still be ace, but I think would feel a lot of pressure to “overcome” his sex aversion which would lead to him being very self-destructive until he learned to be comfortable in himself, and possibly with a kid he didn’t know he had until later. I think, though, it would turn out to be Wes’s kid, not his, and that would be a fairly dramatic but typical episode that underlines the narrative arc peppered with a lot of sex, drugs and rock’n’roll. Everything, ironically, that Ricky says he doesn’t do in THE CROWS.
Gerald’s place in the narrative would be taken by his guitar, which would be a character in the story. I think that Ricky writes the songs, and Wes has a lot of input, but Ricky’s got that creative spark and is a gifted lyricist in particular. Some of his scenes alone with his guitar would have a Ricky/Gerald dynamic, I think, in terms of it being a mask to his deep loneliness and dissatisfaction with the lifestyle he’s got, but he doesn’t know how to change it.
I’m not sure what Fairwood would be in this narrative, but leaning towards the guitar merging Gerald/Fairwood for narrative purposes, but it would be more metaphorical. I think Ricky would definitely have a “dream home” he wants to buy and live in with Carrie, and that’s a ruined manor in the countryside that he wants to do up and have as his project outside of the studio life.

Review: Love Ghost and Blnko’s new pop-punk collaboration ‘Veneno’ wraps up the woes of a toxic love in atmospheric guitar and catchy vocals
Tumblr media
Love Ghost are a musical force to be reckoned with, as these self-proclaimed misfits find themselves sharing new releases more often than not, already offering 2023 a handful of singles, a full-length album and an EP. Conjoining a style equally informed by Seattle tradition and Souncloud-era fearlessness, Love Ghost find themselves coining their music to be something of emo trap-rock, a niche that no artist has truly been able to capture in the same way. Now collaborating with Mexican artist Blnko’s, their newest single ‘Veneno’ - meaning poison - sees the two acts creating a patchwork of their stylings into something new and unique.
Storming in at full atmospheric force, ‘Veneno’ sees soaring, quickly strummed electric guitar placed front and centre of everything as it leads us into the release, delivering a pop-punk-esque core for the track to shine as well as Latin rock elements that push its individual flair to the max. Steady, hard-hitting drums commence for the verse, with the instrumentals feeling clean but striking all the same as Love Ghost’s vocalist delivers a spoken-sung performance atop it, championing his staple whine-y emo sound that’s a distinctly catchy staple part of the group. The chorus only ramps things up further, with the drums hitting harder and the guitar more vigorous as well as Blnko’s screamed backing vocals making this an angsty moment you won’t be forgetting or failing to head-bang along to anytime soon. Taking hold of the second verse, Blnko’s clean Spanish vocals carry both a charisma and confidence that’s perfect for the song’s teetering bridge between gritty and smooth. At just two and a half minutes in length, this short but sweet offering is one you’ll need on repeat a handful if not more times to get the full flavour of as Love Ghost and Blnko get in your head and plant one hell of an earworm to be remembered.
As the lyrics deliver a conflicted narrative of a relationship that’s evidently a two-way street of toxicity, ‘Veneno’ finds itself fighting between knowing it’s best to let go, but instead clinging on like its life depends on it. With a contrasting internal battle evident in every line, Love Ghost spew a monologue of thoughts, admitting ‘I’m done putting up with you, I can’t get enough of you’ but never capable of making up their minds. As lines like ‘the venom you give is like a dream’ sugarcoat this progressive downwards spiral, ‘Veneno’ doesn’t hesitate in offering quite the truthful depiction of how it feels to be consumed within a toxic partnership, finding a rush in every blow and feeling incapable of walking away. An air of codependency also surrounds ‘Veneno’s narrative, clinging onto lyrics like ‘I can’t be without you’ that make it very clear they’re not just infatuated but also feel so deeply dependant on this person they don’t believe they’re capable of walking away even when they’re causing so much pain. Every hard-hitting word of ‘Veneno’ captures a side of a toxic relationship that many don’t speak so openly of, and as always we can’t help but adore Love Ghost’s continued willingness to set the stage for others to relate and feel less alone within their darker narrative topics. With Blnko’s second verse also entirely in Spanish, ‘Veneno’ doesn’t limit itself from offering an experience a little different from everything else out there, surely becoming an anthem you’ll be singing for a long time after first pressing play.
With a video incorporating the trio performing in a rundown location amidst depictions of a toxic relationship constantly teetering between thrilling highs and broken lows, ‘Veneno’ also sells its poignant narrative in every visual.

Heyy! So I'm looking for friends (desperate ik😞) who like the same things as me<3 I feel like this is the best place to post it considering I'm underage and usually it's the teens that like the same stuff! I listen to literally any genre of music but I usually go for alternative types of music like goth, emo, metal and stuff. I have a lot of hobbies but mostly exploring abandoned/haunted stuff, watching horror movies or anything horror at all, listening to music, writing, reading, researching stuff (I'm a nerd ik🥲) and playing video games! I love Halloween, anything scary, duhhhh!! This includes creepypastas, SCPs, those scary comps on YouTube, anything paranormal, and oddities. I'm yallternative so I like fishing, hunting (not allowed guns unfortunately 😞) mudding and stuff like that!! I love nature, all of it. I like sports, and I play some instruments that I'm not very good at. I play electric guitar, drums, and the clarinet. I like dinos and sharks<3 I have a lot of mental illnesses so I'm not gonna be very normal...😩 I mostly watch TV shows but I do watch movies as well such as: The Virgin suicides, girl, interrupted, to the bone, the outsiders, TWD, really any horror movies/shows, documentaries, and animes. I'm really not awake in the day, I prefer the night!! Im not labeled either, I like what I like lmfao. I also don't have the best home life, or anything so if that's relatable we can talk about it! I don't care if you vent, btw<3 I like night rides and walks through the woods too. I have a lot more interests but I've already wrote enough 😋 I live in Sc, 803. I'm also younger but don't mind talking with older as long as you don't mind. Ok thank you for reading my long ass story!!<3

Neutral milk hotel:
King of carrot flowers
For its blend of fuzz and acoustic with its production as well as quirky ear candy it uses such as feedback loops.
There album 'In an areoplane over the sea' is what I use as a reference for producer when I'm trying to get them to know what sound I'm going for. Such as the use of fuzz and high compression but a raw and acoustic sound underneath it.
Hole:
Softer, softest
I find I use a lot of lyrics from there songs, the grunge but angsty/emotional and blend of horror themes. As for my song 'Moores code' I took the line from the bridge for Softer, softest.
'Burn the witch, the witch is dead Burn the witch Just bring me back her head'
My love for horror films and themes, hearing something like this in a song I wanted to use it. I also like the angst she uses in her writing as its more mature and not to masculine like in punk music such and black flag or to immature such as in emo music.
Syd Barret:
Octopus
I like the fable like and innocents with his lyrics such as in the song 'bike' with the lyrics:
'I've got a bike, you can ride it if you like It's got a basket, a bell that rings And things to make it look good I'd give it to you if I could, but I borrowed it.'
Its very nonsensical such as how to fist and last line sort of contradict each other. This is similar with songs like lucifer sam which is just about a cat but it don't stick with this theme, he's a very fluid song writer.
I choose Octopus as its a folk song which is similar to the music I make and is one song I often listen to as to channel Syd Barret writing style as I use an improvised method of writing which makes my songs more fluid.
In conclusion:
Something that links all these song together is there use of acoustic guitar in alternative music making stay away from pop and country music. I make all my songs with acoustic and vocals before I produce them as I am a solo musican. I try to bring that more raw sound into my music on top of having a more alternative sound such as electric guitar, use of fuzz and drums to create a more band like sound, but not losing that solo raw sound.
Hole being a grunge band which is a genre that uses a lot of fuzz and Neutral Milk Hotel production being very compressed and loud giving it that studio created fuzz sound is why II choose them as I love the sound of fuzz and want to use it into a acoustic and raw setting.
All three bands are mostly supported by one person as Syd Barret is solo, Jeff Mangum wrote and played and recorded most of there work and Courtney Love has a strong presence in her work with Hole. I feel like strong connection to them because of this, especially Jeff Mangum as I feel like I work better on my own and have a specific sound I want to find with this idea of fuzz folk.
Neutral Milk Hotel (1998) In the aeroplane over the sea [CD]. Robert Schneider.
Hole (1993a) [CD], Softer, Softest. Paul Q. Kolderie, Sean Slade.
syd barrett (1969) ‘Octopus’ [CD], Octopus. Cleopatra.
Pink Floyd (1967) The piper at the gates of dawn [CD]. Norman Smith.

DVA has announced a new, soulful release: "Love Lies"
DVA is a singer-songwriter passionate about merging Pop and R&B. These two genres have always had a lot in common, as both focus on catchy melodies and emotional lyrics, not to mention the strong emphasis on rhythm and vocal performance.
With her most recent studio work, "Love Lies," DVA is showing the world that she is able to combine smooth and soulful tones with modern production aesthetics that are broadly appealing.
A true pop star in the making, DVA has created a song that's uplifting yet soothing and hauntingly beautiful. "Love Lies" kicks off with an iconic electric guitar pattern, which is slightly overdriven yet not aggressive. It adds a cinematic twist to the mix, adding depth and scope to the sound of this release. The instrumental has a fresh, contemporary touch. The beat is indeed a unique blend of hip-hop and emo, with a heavy focus on huge 808 bass tones and ethereal soundscapes that crown the artist's voice beautifully. DVA's introspective lyrics and melodic hooks work so well with this release's romantic, nostalgic tone. "Love Lies" is characterized by a dreamy, atmospheric approach to production. The overall sound works well with DVA's emotive vocal delivery.
Despite the personal subject matter of "Love Lies," the track also feels very easy to relate to. It lets the audience take a glimpse at a sense of hope and optimism, showing that things might eventually get better, even if the pain might seem too much to bear when the people we trust betray our love.
Overall, "Love Lies" is an incredibly powerful and resonant piece of music that feels expressive and introspective yet broadly appealing.
Ultimately, "Love Lies" is a very honest outlook on the complicated nature of relationships. Love can be the most beautiful thing in the world, but it can also be crushing when things take a wrong turn. DVA reminds us that not everything is as it seems and that love can sometimes deceive us in ways we never thought possible. Still, love is a force that can make us feel alive and bring us closer to the people we care about most, so "Love Lies" offers a light at the end of the tunnel: never give up! Ultimately, DVA is the kind of artist who continues to use her music to explore themes of love, heartbreak, and self-empowerment, bringing a different perspective to her audience.
Besides the meaning, the song is also excellent on a purely technical basis. The production quality is spot-on, and the mix is balanced and dynamic. Every element, from the guitars to the synth to the drum patterns, sit where it should, allowing the vocals to shine. One of the things that make "Love Lies" so distinctive is also how DVA blends new-school sounds with "golden age" aesthetics in such a perfect way. Her vocal style is reminiscent of some of the greatest singers in music, while the instrumental and production choices definitely give her sound a more refreshing, up-to-date twist that makes DVA stand out even in the contemporary pop and R&B music scenes. This combination of old and new is truly well-executed, giving the artist so much edge and credibility.
DVA has a voice that is both powerful and soothing. Through her spontaneity and lyrical artistry, she is able to convey a broad range of emotions. Every note is important, and there isn't a single moment of music that isn't endowed with personal feelings and soulfulness. DVA's most recent studio single, "Love Lies," shows that the artist's range is truly incredible. She has a clear and bright tone that can reach the highest of highs and still maintain a rich depth and balance. When listening to "Love Lies," listeners will immediately be able to connect with the passion and soul in DVA's voice.
This release is highly recommended to people who enjoy classic singers such as Whitney Houston, Nina Simone, and Aretha Franklin, only to mention a few. However, even fans of artists such as Rihanna and Alicia Keys should give "Love Lies" by DVA a proper shot!

txt is cool, I'm not a fan but I feel like their concept changed alot from happy to emo, and they slay in all concepts. Like alot of their songs have like gloomy meanings but such happy instumentals. they're rly talented tho! For nwjns, mixed opinionsss, like they're great and everything but first of hyein is 14 like she's too young. I AM NOT HATING ON HER LIKE I COULD NEVER SHE TALENTED AFF. I think the reason alot of people like them is cause they have a young vibe like they're the most genz group ever lol. I listen to them alot tho and nmixx. I think I listen to Gidle too much lol.
(sry for the paragraph) <33
oh no i get the nwjns thing i call min heejin wretched evil every chance i get...txt debuted around the time the whole "i wanna be me" kind of concept was starting to pick up so i wasn't surprised that their music turned emotional when cysm dropped. i did lose my interest after lovesong dropped bc i thought they weren't the best at rock and the whole growling thing didn't fit their vocals + for the majority of their tracks their voices are autotuned to achieve a tinny effect which works best with their edm songs personally i don't like when voices are autotuned in rock bc i prefer live instruments used in production so autotuned voices stick out really badly. also for the mainstream rock trend that took over kpop they used electronic guitars and drums which sound different from recorded guitars n stuff so i wasn't really interested. i was rllyyy glad when they dropped the rock bc rock doesn't have danceable music in the first place you just kinda headbang and scream along with the singer 😭
i think they do rock influence better or when they integrate electric guitars and stuff like that in their music compared to full on rock because the rock songs they released felt super super sanitised for the gp. I'm obvs not an expert in rock but compared to bands like day6 or rock groups like dreamcatcher you could reallyyyy hear the difference
i also think a huge part of why nwjns is so popular is because theyre so young ik a LOT of people hate and are concerned over the fact that the youngest member is 14 but i also feel they'll forget about it just as they forgot how young leeseo is... the styling for their debut was superrr concerning and the backlash ador got gave a good impact but :/ eventually theyre gonna be put in tank tops again i feel. it's not even a new problem bc kpop has been debuting young idols for ages and we move on VERY quickly i dont remember belift getting backlash for fever even though niki was like fourteen when it released
but like anyway 💀 nmixx has great vocalists and dancers but i don't listen to them much or gidle but i thought lion was really REALLY good. also don't apologise for the paragraph i like hearing other ppl's opinions besides i typed an entire essay out so lol
