Review: Love Ghost and Ritorukai collaborate for new single ‘Human Error 404’, an angsty emo-rock anthem drowned in mental health struggles
Tumblr media
Returning with yet another new release in collaboration with Ritorukai, the emo-rock stars Love Ghost have just shared their newest single ‘Human Error 404.’ As Love Ghost’s Finnegan Bell is currently in Mexico recording with many Latin artists, we’re sure this won’t be the last single the duo have to come, continuing to offer a staggering amount of new tracks to listen along with while never letting their sound suffer for it.
Just like all of Love Ghost’s work, ‘Human Error 404’ finds itself angstily encapsulated by a sound of grit and down-to-the-bone emotion, unafraid of the darkness and embracing it wholly. From the rich electric guitar strums and the emphatic riff that leads things in, ‘Human Error 404’ immediately captures a sense of foreboding, floating through a raincloud cloud that’s only seconds from a downpour. Thudding drum beats and subdued guitar strums add a more pounding resonance for the opening shortend chorus, all the while Love Ghost’s vocalist offers a more clean, hooking vocal delivery that urges you learn and sing along to every word. Things shift for Ritorukai’s introduction, wrapped between electronic scattered beats, dark guitar strums and hoarsely half-screamed backing vocals that lace around his cleanly sung emo-rap styling. The second verse makes way for Love Ghost to take centre stage, continuing scattered beats and prominent guitar strums while he offers an emotive set of lyrics to unpack. The final chorus climaxes into a peak of everything, from vigorous guitar strums to thundering drums and multiple layers of clean and raspy vocals, ‘Human Error 404’ wraps up with a heightened moment exploding from all the built-up emotion tied within. Delivering yet another emo-rap and alternative-rock anthem, Love Ghost have been knocking it out the park as of late, and ‘Human Error 404’ is just another hit you’ll be eager to add to your playlists immediately.
Delving into mental health complexities, ‘Human Error 404’ is another staple from Love Ghost that entangles within it a poignant message of struggling through depression and darker thoughts without an escape. Led in by the line ‘weightless I am floating, watching the sky turn red’, it’s made clear that the reality for Love Ghost has seemed to shift, no longer seeing the world for its blue-tinted skies but instead drowned in the darkness of their mind. Continuing ‘I wanna find a place where I can’t be in my head’ , Love Ghost yearn to be freed from the shackles inside of them, desperate for an exit from the never-ending stream of bad energy their mind continues to forge. Though the world fails to offer them a much-needed escape, lyrics like ‘I haven’t slept for three days, I’m always uncomfortable so I’ll make a new world in my head’ focus on transporting them elsewhere, creating a safe-place to go when the world’s torment becomes too much to bear. As the song closes out with the hard-hitting line ‘please don’t give up now’, Love Ghost seem to sing to both themselves and their audience listening along, urging anyone in a similar place to keep on living and make it through. With a mass of thought-provoking lines and an achingly real resonance of what it feels like to go through the burdens of mental health issues alone, ‘Human Error 404’ is a song you’ll both want to scream along with and hurt for all the same.
Check out ‘Human Error 404’ here to appreciate the hard-hitting lyrical lines and edgy soundscape Love Ghost have to offer.

Nu-Metal Revival: Love Ghost's 'Do You Like Me Now?' Featuring Cinnamon Babe Hey music fans!In their recent works, Love Ghost has been on fire with their ability to integrate various genres and their new song “Do You Like Me Now?” is no exception. These guys have always been more versatile, combining elements of such genres as grunge, alt-rock, metal, pop-punk, rap-rock, and hip-hop during their work. Such versatility of musical genres is one of the major factors distinguishing this band’s sound. For the song “Do You Like Me Now?”, Love Ghost collaborated with another nu-metal artist, and believe me, that was the right decision. They take the biggest of both their feels and combine them into one strong, versatile song. Guitars are powerful and grim, drums are heavy and thick, bass drops have superior sound separation – it’s a proper nu-metal now. The production was done by Mike Summers and he has worked with big artists for example Tech N9ne, Kendrick, Lil Wayne, so its professional sounding as always. The sheer volume and passion are reminiscent of Linkin Park and Rage Against the Machine but have a certain newness that may make it appealing to more fans. One of the most notable features is the vocals of Love Ghosts’ Finnegan Bell and the obscene, catchy screams and raps of Cinnamon Babe. Bell has such a great pop-punk type of voice which makes it quite interesting to compliment the heavier side of the band. It’s this awesome juxtaposition of hostility and serenity of the bright and the black. [caption id="attachment_55641" align="alignnone" width="2000"] One of the most notable features is the vocals of Love Ghosts’ Finnegan Bell and the obscene, catchy screams and raps of Cinnamon Babe.[/caption] The lyrics talk about turmoil, anxiety and frustration, which are emotions shared by many people, but are sung in an empowering way that is infectious. When Bell was mentioning how music is ‘the language for emotion’, this track fits into that to a T, like a balm for the soul to feel understood for anyone coping with mental health issues. Additionally, they released a music video with this super cool third person game overwatch playstyle thing going on. You know, with health bars, mini-maps, it’s as if both artists are playing their avatars in real life. It was so refreshing to see something so different added to the music. In summation, if you have any preference for heavy rock and especially nu-metal at all, then ‘Do You Like Me Now?’ is an absolute essential. Love Ghost and Cinnamon Babe killed it with these giant vocals, those rap-rock aspects and bomb production. Overall, this is easily one of the stand-out releases of the year thus far. If you snoozed on Love Ghost before, this is the great starting point to understanding who they are and how their music has progressed. Don't sleep!. Find A Song inspired by altered states of mind and witchcraft
Love Ghost x Skold - Nightshade & Cocaine
"We are very excited to share this first single 'Nightshade and Cocaine' from our forthcoming album 'Loveghost x SKOLD'. It’s not easy picking singles from this album but this one is a favorite of mine because the dynamics, it’s like a musical roller coaster, the highs and lows take you for a ride. This is also something that is reflected in the lyrics with almost lightheartedly dealing with some very heavy subjects,” says Tim Skold.
Finnegan Bell adds, “This is a sonic journey that touches on many topics such as personal introspection, losing and finding your soul, witchcraft, death, the afterlife, and even politics and war. Nightshade (also known as Belladona) is a flower that is intrinsically linked to witchcraft, particularly for flying, astral projection and as a symbol for death. This song is about altered states of mind and one’s psychology unraveling at the seams. This song is dynamic, unconventional and imaginative and is one of my favorites on the entire album”.

Review: Love Ghost and Blnko’s new pop-punk collaboration ‘Veneno’ wraps up the woes of a toxic love in atmospheric guitar and catchy vocals
Tumblr media
Love Ghost are a musical force to be reckoned with, as these self-proclaimed misfits find themselves sharing new releases more often than not, already offering 2023 a handful of singles, a full-length album and an EP. Conjoining a style equally informed by Seattle tradition and Souncloud-era fearlessness, Love Ghost find themselves coining their music to be something of emo trap-rock, a niche that no artist has truly been able to capture in the same way. Now collaborating with Mexican artist Blnko’s, their newest single ‘Veneno’ - meaning poison - sees the two acts creating a patchwork of their stylings into something new and unique.
Storming in at full atmospheric force, ‘Veneno’ sees soaring, quickly strummed electric guitar placed front and centre of everything as it leads us into the release, delivering a pop-punk-esque core for the track to shine as well as Latin rock elements that push its individual flair to the max. Steady, hard-hitting drums commence for the verse, with the instrumentals feeling clean but striking all the same as Love Ghost’s vocalist delivers a spoken-sung performance atop it, championing his staple whine-y emo sound that’s a distinctly catchy staple part of the group. The chorus only ramps things up further, with the drums hitting harder and the guitar more vigorous as well as Blnko’s screamed backing vocals making this an angsty moment you won’t be forgetting or failing to head-bang along to anytime soon. Taking hold of the second verse, Blnko’s clean Spanish vocals carry both a charisma and confidence that’s perfect for the song’s teetering bridge between gritty and smooth. At just two and a half minutes in length, this short but sweet offering is one you’ll need on repeat a handful if not more times to get the full flavour of as Love Ghost and Blnko get in your head and plant one hell of an earworm to be remembered.
As the lyrics deliver a conflicted narrative of a relationship that’s evidently a two-way street of toxicity, ‘Veneno’ finds itself fighting between knowing it’s best to let go, but instead clinging on like its life depends on it. With a contrasting internal battle evident in every line, Love Ghost spew a monologue of thoughts, admitting ‘I’m done putting up with you, I can’t get enough of you’ but never capable of making up their minds. As lines like ‘the venom you give is like a dream’ sugarcoat this progressive downwards spiral, ‘Veneno’ doesn’t hesitate in offering quite the truthful depiction of how it feels to be consumed within a toxic partnership, finding a rush in every blow and feeling incapable of walking away. An air of codependency also surrounds ‘Veneno’s narrative, clinging onto lyrics like ‘I can’t be without you’ that make it very clear they’re not just infatuated but also feel so deeply dependant on this person they don’t believe they’re capable of walking away even when they’re causing so much pain. Every hard-hitting word of ‘Veneno’ captures a side of a toxic relationship that many don’t speak so openly of, and as always we can’t help but adore Love Ghost’s continued willingness to set the stage for others to relate and feel less alone within their darker narrative topics. With Blnko’s second verse also entirely in Spanish, ‘Veneno’ doesn’t limit itself from offering an experience a little different from everything else out there, surely becoming an anthem you’ll be singing for a long time after first pressing play.
With a video incorporating the trio performing in a rundown location amidst depictions of a toxic relationship constantly teetering between thrilling highs and broken lows, ‘Veneno’ also sells its poignant narrative in every visual.

Love Ghost's "TIME TRAVEL" ft. Yung Dupe: A Sonic Journey "TIME TRAVEL," the latest sonic expedition from Love Ghost featuring Yung Dupe, produced by the mastery of Shantra, is not just a track—it's a raw emotional odyssey entwined within an alternative trap soundscape that thumps with existential weight. https://open.spotify.com/album/0cu10hdn3e3wCQYjtoUhfb?si=EgIbXX-xQl6jinOFfZKwlw Fluttering at the intersection of ethereal emo rap and thunderous baselines characteristic of trap, this single narrates the visceral yearning for escapism. The 'troubled girl' in question becomes our everyman: who among us hasn't wished for a reverse gear on life's highway to dodge regrets? Love Ghost orchestrates this theme masterfully with vocals that hover between anguish and passion—a dichotomy mirrored in Yung Dupe’s gritty verses. They capture wistful introspection while navigating through turbulent beats like phantoms drifting through temporal realms. Producer Shantra lays down a production laced with spectral synths which bind together both nostalgia and futuristic tones—the real alchemy behind "TIME TRAVEL." [caption id="attachment_54630" align="alignnone" width="1152"] Love Ghost's "TIME TRAVEL" ft. Yung Dupe: A Sonic Journey[/caption] What sets this piece apart isn't merely its infectious nature as self-proclaimed 'banger,' but also its unflinching honesty; it reveals intimate scars under flashing strobes. This song doesn’t tiptoe around its message; rather, it careens into your consciousness with all the force of confronting one's inner demons head-on. Yet amid these intense frequencies lies an unintended consequence: empowerment—the unspoken realization that even though we can't rewrite history, we carry forward fortified by newfound resilience. https://youtu.be/H8vxj8QPm7A Connect this tripwire tension to Linkin Park’s haunting narratives or slide it alongside Juice WRLD's cathartic cadences—either way, you're witnessing rebirths here—not only musically but spiritually within each pulsating measure. So connect your headphones and prepare: "TIME TRAVEL" will pry open vaults of reflection unparalleled since time immemorial—or at least since music began mirroring more than melodies...and started reflecting souls instead. Sometimes, I’ve found exes and guys I dated for a while reach out to me, and they all do it with a similar speech: they say I am one of the best people they’ve ever known, how much they regret not realizing it back then, and how sorry they are for the way they treated me, the lies they told, the pain they caused and for letting me go. I listen to them, let them know there are no harsh feelings and wish them well. however, I often find myself thinking, why does it take them months, or even years to realize it? Could I have done something different to make them stay? Did I love too much? Am I really that person they have come to appreciate now, or is it just an idealization of my persona and Actually, I am not THAT nice, not THAT loving, not THAT sweet, not THAT good to be in a relationship? And then, I recap our story together, frame by frame, dissecting and analyzing each still, the very few grandiose, romantic scenes with fireworks in the background and the many small, intimate and subtle ones, so quiet they go unnoticed to the common eye. I read over and over the pages we wrote, either hand by hand or at a distance, relive the joy and the pain, and run my fingers through the rough patches where my tears had watered down the ink and left the paper weak for a while. I listen to the songs that defined our moments, that will forever be part of the soundtrack of my life. Play them on repeat, finding new meanings to the lyrics, discovering notes I hadn’t heard before. And after this, I realize I am far from perfect, that I made mistakes too, but in the end it’s true, they did let this good love go to waste. #latenight #latenightthoughts #lovelife #loveletters #goodlove #love #lovestory #loveandlife #lovebook #lovesongs #lovingsomeone #relationships #pastpresentfuture #ghostofloverspast #loveghost #mine #mywriting #instamood #instanight #instalove #thoughtsonlove #thoughts #midnightthoughts #recap
