it's actually, genuinely, honestly hilarious that in a fandom where popular ships include characters who are biologically related, characters with a 10+ year age gap who met when one was a teenager or even a child, and characters who have tried to kill each other, people hate on a friends-to-lovers ship with a <2 year age gap where the characters have a deep emotional bond and plenty of romantic subtext, because "they're siblings". my brother in the force they are literally not.

my partner and I are doing a co-op playthrough of BG3, and we got to abdirak in the goblin fortress (for non-players, he's a priest of the goddess of pain, who offers to hit you real hard with a mace in the name of his god and also his own gratification. saying yes seems like one of the stupidest decisions in the game, but it can get you a divine blessing buff that's really useful in combat)

we debated for ages on which of us should go for it, since in co-op only 1 of you can get the buff, and whether it was immersion breaking for either of us to do it when our characters both worship another deity who isn't big on sharing. eventually decided they should go for it because their character is more mele focussed than mine and that's where the buff is most useful.

so their teeny little gnome cleric faces the wall (while karlac, who they're romancing, laughs at them the whole time) and lets this goddess-sanctioned pervert hit them in the back with a mace that's nearly as big as they are repeatedly for his own sexual gratification...

only to get the most insane run of skill check win/losses that meant they stayed complete silent and stoic throughout the entire thing, which abdirak doesn't find hot, and the goddess therefore doesn't bless you for

so they just sacrificed 5/6ths of their health for nothing but the privilege of having their love interest think they're a freak, and a weird murder pervert getting angry with them that their brutal maiming wasn't sexy enough
