you kind of felt like the main character of a shoujo, with the wind making your hair dance in the air

standing face to face with your longtime crush

(and by longtime, you mean about two months)

that’s when it all started

no— it was earlier

the orientation ceremony

all the first years standing in neat, organized rows, listening to the principal give a welcoming speech

at least, that’s what you were supposed to be doing

in reality, your eyes were trained on the 188cm tall blonde in the row in front of you

you couldn’t see the stage— also, you didn’t care

and when he looks up (he does within an instant), you shoot him a sly smile

and he rolls his eyes, standing up and heading for the exit of the classroom

the shock in the classroom — that you’re still ALIVE — is clear

your friend from before gapes

“courtship,” you sigh dramatically, and hop to your feet to chase after the blonde monster

“tsukki~!! are you getting lunch?? wait for me~!!”

everyone on the first floor knows: it’s become the norm to see tsukishima, book in hand, headphones around neck, and followed by a chirpy pipsqueak

even yamaguchi doesn’t stick as closely to him as ‘tsukishima’s lapdog’ (as you’ve started being called by the fellow first years) does

the nickname doesn’t really bother you

after all, it’s just a reminder of your determination and refusal to give up

which is a virtue, in your mind!!

some people feel bad for tsukishima, constantly being bothered by you for weeks on end

others admire your stubbornness

and one group of people you can always count on supporting you are the karasuno volleyball club <3

ever since you started showing up to their practices

and all their practice matches and official games too

they all befriended you

but you grew tired of just sitting and watching tsukki on the sidelines, so you asked coach ukai if you could help out during practices!!!

there can’t rly be ... three managers... so you suggested retrieving balls or being tsukki’s personal assistant

but it’s ok bc he thought it would be entertaining and agreed

glaring at you, he pulls his headphones off his head and puts them on yours

a couple hours later, you pull into the parking lot of nekoma

the friend groups pair off, and kuroo makes a beeline for tsukki, only to catch sight of you

“hey four-eyes— who’s this?”

tsukki glances down at you, to which you shoot him a sugary smile

“dunno,” he says, and walks off

you wave to kuroo with a sunny grin

“i’m y/n~! i’m tsukki’s personal assistant and future wife~”

his eyebrows rise, and with a quick bow, you bounce after the blonde

once the group is all in the gym, practice jerseys are handed out and you help yachi and shimizu prepare the water and towels

you’re about to make a beeline for tsukki, when someone calling your name stops you

“y/n! wanna get me some water?” kuroo calls

you only blink for a moment before hopping to it, darting across the gym

for the rest of the day, kuroo is constantly calling for you—

“y/n! can you wipe the sweat off my neck?”

“hey, y/n, get me some water~”

and by the time the several hours is over, you haven’t gotten to speak to tsukki once 🥺 snnff :(

when you finally get a free moment, you look around for him, but he’s nowhere to be found

sad face :(

and then !!!! turns out nekoma paid for bbq for everyone 🤩🤩 cats are so generous

and somehow??? you find yourself surrounded by nekoma players???

“here y/n, want some of my bbq?”

“no, take mine!!!”

“do you want any fruit?? i have some!!”

“you were so helpful today!! how’d you stay so energetic the whole time??”

you flash a smile, ready to charm the shit out of them, when a voice interrupts:

"hey, personal assistant.”

your eyes light up, bc you’d recognize that salty ass voice anywhere!!!

the guys around you part to reveal—

“tsukki!!!” you squeal, maybe a little too excitedly

“aren’t you supposed to be assisting me?? get me some food.”

you shove your plate into the free hand of one of the nekoma players (his name was... liam? lief... lev?) and dart to get tsukki something to eat

when you hand it to him, you flash him your most dazzling smile

“eat up! you worked hard today~”

he eyes you silently before digging in, and you smile absentmindedly while watching him

“why are you staring at me like that?”

“because i like you,” you respond without hesitation

he averts his eyes, but doesn’t say anything mean

your stomach flips a little

i’m coming for you, tsukishima kei.

on the ride home, you’re once again sitting next to him, and he gives up his headphones without a fight this time

you’re so tired from running around helping kuroo all day that you find your eyelids getting heavy as tsukki’s music plays in your ears

you try to subtly lean on his shoulder but he pokes you away

you glare at him, pouting, but settle for leaning against the headrest

and then, you’re drifting off

and you’re having a strange dream

a pleasant dream, with fuzzy corners and honey-colored light streaming across the scene, but still strange

in this dream, he’s kissing you

it’s not like you haven’t had dreams like this before, it’s just that this one feels so much more vivid

and yet blurry at the same time

even when the dream ends and you blink back into consciousness you can still distinctly feel his lips against yours

his glasses brushing against your cheek

his fingers interlacing with your hair

a warm smile curls up your lips as you grasp lingering wisps of the dream, when—

“you’re drooling.”

your eyes snap open and you jolt up, furiously wiping the side of your mouth

“am not!!”

tsukishima blinks uninterestedly from the empty bus aisle, arms crossed

“dreaming about something vulgar?”

you grin, resting your chin on your palm

“would you like to hear ab—?”

he’s just “nope,” and turns towards the exit

hopping out of the seat, you follow him

“it was such a nice dream,” you sigh

“must’ve been, if you were drooling that much.”

“i was not—”

and then you notice something

everyone else is already gone from the bus

“wait a minute... did you wait for me?”

you hear a scoff

“you WAITED for me!!!!” you exclaim, happiness radiating off you in waves

“if i’d left you on the bus, nishinoya and tanaka would’ve killed me if i didn’t,” he says curtly

the next day, it’s practice as usual at the karasuno gym

but?? sniff sniff someone is here that shouldn’t be

this rando first year has been pacing around right outside the gym entrance

and all the vbc members are like 👁️ whomst?

and when you finally arrive (right along behind tsukki)

he yells out your name

and holds out a bouquet of flowers <3 how cute

“y/n, um— i, i know you don’t know me but i’ve liked you since the orientation ceremony!!! i think you’re really pretty and cute and smart—”

cue a quiet scoff from tsukki, “if she’s his definition of smart, then how dumb is he?”

cue sugawara jabbing his side (sugamama is protective of his child y/n)

“—and i know you like tsukishima, but i hope you’ll give me a chance!! i can make you happier than him!!”

at this point, everyone in the gym is watching like 👁️ oh?? TEA??

and is that... is that an aura of raging irritation coming from tsukishima??

you open your mouth to politely reject the guy, when

literally out of nowhere tsukki just a p p e a r s

“hey, idiot. aren’t you supposed to be my personal assistant?? go set out the volleyballs instead of flirting,”

you dip your head and smile apologetically at the guy before heading towards the store room

and after that, you notice tsukki is a bit harsher, a bit more off his game, a little more easily irritated than usual

during a free moment, you nudge tanaka

“doesn’t he seem like he’s in a bad mood??”

“no... something is definitely off today...”

every time you try to do your usual “tsukki~!!” he just turns away and ignores you

doesn’t sound too out of the ordinary, but you can just tell something is wrong

you still have no idea why he’s acting like this by the time practice ends

and when you go to the locker room to find him (so y’all can walk home together), he’s already gone :(

so, a little more droopy than usual, you head out

only to be surprised by a voice when you step outside

“took you long enough,”

you whip around to see tsukki leaning against the wall with crossed arms

he clicks his tongue and then sets off

and when you don’t immediately follow him, he glances over his shoulder

“are you coming or not?”

it’s just one sentence, and it doesn’t really mean anything

but hearing the words makes something incredibly warm bloom in your chest

you grin

“of course i am,”

that feeling lasts well into the next morning, but is replaced by a nauseating knot in your stomach when you arrive at school

because everyone’s whispering about one thing:

“tsukishima got called to the principal’s office!!!”

“whaaat ! why??”

“i heard he was caught with the answers for the upcoming exam!!”

your stomach . clenches

and before anybody can say another word, you’re sweeping out the door and down the hall

and in less than 30 seconds, you’re slamming open the door to the principal’s office

the principal and tsukki both look up, equally shocked at your sudden appearance

“y/n, what—”

you ignore him for the first time in your life

“sir, i need to tell you something.”

the principal is just like “... ?? can it wait??”

“no, it can’t.” you take several steps forward “the test answers, they—”

“y/n, don’t—”

you ignore him for the second time in your life again

“they’re mine,”

the principal blinks

“then why was tsukishima found holding them before class??”

“yesterday, they must’ve fallen out of my backpack. he probably picked them up without knowing what they were, so please don’t punish him,” you bow. “punish me instead,”

yea, you’re suspended for two weeks

and ofc there’ll be a mark on your record

plus you’re automatically given a fail for the upcoming exam so you’ll have to retake it later oof....

“no,” he cuts you off “i’m here to deliver your homework,”

he doesn’t answer, instead surveying the room before sitting down on the edge of your bed

you blink, surprised he didn’t comeback with a cold retort

“tsukki?” you ask quietly, sliding into your desk chair

after a moment of silence, he fixes you with a stoic gaze

“why’d you lie?”

“because... because i couldn’t let you take the blame for that. i don’t know what happened, but i know you weren’t cheating. i know it.”

“neither were you. what’s the difference?”

you press your lips together in a frustrated pout

“the difference is that it’s you!!! i’m mediocre. i’m not outstanding. i’ll go to an average college either way, and it’ll be fine. but you..! you’re so smart!! and talented!!! you could do anything you want!!! you could get into an elite college!! the last thing you need is for some stupid misunderstanding to sully your transcript—”

and shockingly he doesn’t?? push you off??

once he manages to de-suction you from him, you fix him with doe eyes and a cheeky grin

he blinks

adjusts his glasses

“make sure to finish that homework. i’m bringing tomorrow’s homework too,”

as he’s leaving, you hope he can feel your glowing smile on his back

the next day, you get a message from the school letting you know that your suspension and other punishments have been retracted

as the real culprit of the cheating was found

an unannounced locker-search discovered several exam cheatsheets almost exactly like the one tsukki found in the locker of a student, and the school realized their mistake <3 how nice of them

and that meant you were free to return to school, name cleared!!!

the volleyball club was eagerly awaiting your return

so when they saw tsukki arrive for practice, they expected you’d be following right along behind him

but instead???

you were koala-ing on his abdomen

“bro... did you carry her all the way here like that??”

“the real question is why he allowed it,”

headcanon 5 / wc: 955

daesung’s been skating since early 2014 (quick story: started skating because he saw skateboards on the set for impulse’s debut music video and suddenly decided He Wanted to Learn!), but his first year of major improvement didn’t come ‘til 2019 because impulse’s promotions finally slowed down that year (kind of) and he had more time to go fuck around at skateparks.

but not being ~good~ didn’t mean he took it any less seriously. the moment that he decided it was a hobby that he WASN’T going to drop within a month (shocking!), he started collecting boards and learning how to do his own set-ups, trying to learn abt the history of skating just ‘cause he was interested!

quickly became his second love after music <3

has always looked for every opening to practice skating. brings his current favorite board w/ him when impulse goes on tour, practices in parking lots, goes street-skating when he can’t sleep at night, etc. obsessed with constant improvement

also likes skating whenever he can because it helps him NOT think!!! that shit is so rare for him, like... his mind moves a mile a minute and most of the time, it’s ~whatever~ but it’s nice to have something he can do that actually gives him some happy static in his brain for once!!!!!!

even though he’s been skating for seven years as of january 2021, most people (mainly fans) still think he’s really bad at it </3 fair enough because all behind the scenes footage of him fucking off with a board is JUST that. fucking off. looking like a fool. and he mainly posts his fails on his social media. but what ppl don’t understand is that you can be a good skater and still eat shit! if you’re pushing yourself, you’re gonna fall... that’s the fun of it. but he just lets his fans (and whoever else) tell him he sucks and that he’s a poser in the comments because it’s funny

doesn’t really have a fave skatepark? he switches it up pretty often to keep his fans from figuring out where he likes to hang out & he also likes to just go street-skating sometimes so he’s all over the place

honestly not that big of a deal because he blends in pretty well anyway! tends to wear hats (mainly bucket hats and safari hats) along with a facemask, so his face is covered well enough that no one’s gonna think he’s an idol?? even when it isn’t, he lets his hair grow out when he isn’t promoting, doesn’t rly shave unless he has to so the stubble comes out and doesn’t wear any makeup on off-days other than eyeliner so all of his flaws are out in the open </3 just looks like your average scruffy skater boy, esp when he’s hanging with other skaters

ofc he IS still an idol, though, and he DOES still have fans, so he’s been spotted quite a few times. usually really chill about it, will definitely sit and talk with fans if they agree to not go talking about it to everyone. will even skate w ‘em if they skate

what does daesung carry in his skate bag, you may wonder? too much shit, probably. skate tool, wax, extra parts, mini first-aid kit, headphones, portable charger, box cutter, snacks, money, extra clothes, towel, painkillers, shoe goo for quick repairs. used to shove a bunch of water bottles in there, too, but eventually realized it’s more convenient to lug around a 1gal jug of water that he can refill at fountains or... wherever. also used to carry spare shoelaces but now he wears his spare shoelaces as a belt LMAO

this mf makes friends so easily when he’s skating! super supportive, will help people with tricks if they ask or will just offer moral support. not the type to catch an attitude or rage-throw / break boards. just there for a good time

lies about his identity a lot RIP no hate to idols but sometimes he doesn’t wanna feel like one!!! “oh, my name?? i’m hyunwoo”

so sometimes he’ll go to a skatepark after Not going to that particular place for a while and people will be calling him by random ass names and he has no idea they’re speaking to him....... it’s ok tho he’s just an airhead

definitely the type to attempt tricks that he has little to no chance of landing and just do...... stupid things..... want to know what it’d be like to push a ramp up against that shed and drop in from the roof but don’t want to do it yourself??? daesung will!

as a result... he eats shit a lot. as i mentioned above, falling is a given, but he takes BAD falls simply because he’s impulsive and likes to take risks (+ wants to show off and is willing to try even if the chances are slim). always has some weird scrapes and bruises going on. acts like he doesn’t know why his joints hurt and then goes and acts like a crash test dummy in his free time

it’s really a wonder that he hasn’t gotten a bad injury yet

doesn’t usually listen to music when skating. has a lot of friends that he skates with and if he’s not with his friends, he’s usually at a public skatepark. the nice thing about the skater community is that they’re SUPER friendly people (usually) and they absolutely WILL talk to you (usually) if you’re giving the same vibes back out, so he likes to keep his ears open for communication

You were focused in on the back of his head, counting each stray curl that stuck out from under his headphones.

God, you fucking idiot. Just talk to him, or at least compliment his shirt.

You glanced back down at your hands before proceeding to wipe them free of any sweat. When you looked back up, however, the boy began to rise from his chair. Instead of making any further actions to go over to him, you watched him gather his belongings and make his way to the door. You sighed audibly after he walked by you, specifically because he was also listening to Led Zeppelin while wearing their t-shirt.

"What are you moping about, babycakes?" asked the person to your right.

"Did you see that guy?" You turned to face your friend.

He picked at a ranch-drenched salad, poking around aimlessly until finally bringing the fork to his mouth. "Hmm," he said before finishing up his chewing. "Zeppelin boy? I'm sure you could do better than that, cakes."

"Shut up, Calum," you retorted. "I'm sure you could do better than– "

"Do not bring her into this."

"Oh, so what? Is she your girlfriend now?"

"No," Calum said, stabbing at a grape tomato. "But she doesn't deserve your slander."

You frowned, gazing over at his unfinished salad and lesson plan. "Well, neither does Zeppelin boy. Maybe. I mean, Cal, he was listening– "

"He looks like a Max." Calum bit into the tomato. "I bet his name is Max. Don't date a Max. I knew one once and– "

"Shut up."

You weren't mad at Calum. No, you could never be mad at him. In fact, you always thought your conversations with him were quite hilarious, despite the constant banter. You considered yourself lucky to have someone that made you happy all of the time. Your previous best friends were great, but none of them compared to Calum.

You fixated on the little things about him. After learning how to play bass guitar, Calum would create a bassline for practically anything that made a sound. Many years later, his fingers still continued to twitch whenever he liked a song enough. And, just as much as he did with his bass, Calum protected his voice to no end. Even around you, he attempted to hide his talent. You figured out how to edge it out of him occasionally. Nobody around you noticed the musical side to your best friend, but sometimes, it was all you could think about.

You two met on accident the night of your 18th birthday. You were taking on the town with a few of your closest friends while attempting to get into nightclubs with fake IDs and terrible low voices. After the third unsuccessful attempt, you sat in Union Square with a joint passed between the four of you. You could still remember the exact street both you and Calum were on when he ran into you. And quite literally at that. He was biking home from work when you lost your balance on a curb, and soon enough, one thing led to another. He attempted to flirt as he – despite it being warm out – offered you his flannel. One date later, you decided you were both better off as friends.

Flash forward four years, and things were still going strong.

Presently, the two of you were sat on the patio of a café while Calum continued to play with the soggy lettuce in his salad. You watched him quietly, specifically noticing the retreating patience in his eyes after a piece of lettuce fell off of his fork. You loved the boy to death, but he had flawed moments as well. He became a jerk to everyone about a year ago after his parents were involved in a nearly fatal car accident. They ended up being okay, although his behavior failed to change. Luckily, he never acted that way around you. You were relieved, but you were worried about him. You didn't want his second graders to think their teacher was an asshole.

"Hey," you said, twisting your body around to face him. As you did so, you placed your legs upon his lap.

"Hey," he replied and pushed them off, letting them hit the solid concrete of the sidewalk. "I'm working, don't bother me."

You rolled your eyes. "I thought you said that you had your lessons all planned out for the next week. Take a break, buttercup. You said something about wanting to go see the third Lethal Weapon, yeah? Let's go, then. It just came out. I think."

"I– "

"Please."

"It's not out yet, cakes," he chuckled before covering it up with a quick frown. "Gotta wait another month."

You, too, frowned. "Um..." You thought for a moment. "Guys & Dolls just opened, we could go waste more money on– "

"Since when were you into theatre?"

You blinked. "Since forever," you said, following it up with a gasp. "Calum Thomas Hood, have you forgotten something about me? I can't believe it. I lose a potential soulmate and my best friend all in one day. The universe fucking hates me." You sighed dramatically before resting your face in your hands.

Finally, Calum let out a genuine laugh as he set down his pencil and fork. "Okay, okay. Fuck you. Fine. We can do something. But not Guys & Dolls."

"Well, fuck you, too."

"Do you think that once we die, we are told which people in our lives actually meant something versus the ones that weren't even supposed to be there in the first place?"

You were lying on the floor of Calum's bedroom at two in the morning, face directed towards the ceiling as he lightly strummed his favorite songs on guitar. He struggled with the guitar a bit, but he was still more talented on the instrument than you could ever be. His strumming stopped altogether after the question left your mouth. It took him a few empty seconds to register what you had said.

"I think," he started, "that everyone you meet in life will mean something to you in one way or another. If your relationship with them didn't work out, that just means that you– um, you've changed as a person and they were no longer for you. I guess everyone teaches you a lesson... kinda. Some people are just better fits than others. But, yeah. Everyone shapes you as a person whether you like being around them or not."

You let the silence creep back in before Calum's playing started up again. "What do you think I've learned from you?" you asked a moment later.

He stopped strumming once more. "I think you've learned not to put up with people's bullshit."

You chuckled lowly, then said, "no, I think I've learned that brown eyes are the most beautiful eyes." You weren't necessarily sure you had meant it jokingly or honestly, but you chose not to take it back nevertheless.

"Oh," Calum whispered.

You glanced up at him on the floor beside you. He was staring down at his hands, a soft smile tugging on his lips. The lamp on the desk adjacent to the both of you hardly illuminated any of his features, but somehow you could see him perfectly.

"Thanks," he said a couple seconds later.

It was then that you decided you were being honest. You had never seen eyes more breathtaking than Calum's in your entire life. Nor had you seen a more breathtaking smile. In fact, everything about him was stunning.

"You're making me fucking blush, babycakes." Calum's smile grew wider as he laughed, and your heart grew larger.

You decided that the exhaustion had gotten to the both of you, especially after you said, "I can make you do something way better than just blush, buttercup."

Calum's smile fell, and once his eyes darted over to you, yours glanced the other way. You said inappropriate things all of the time, as did he. But now, your heart was beating out of your chest at the thought of anything remotely sexual with him. He was your best friend. You would be lying to yourself if you said you hadn't thought of it before.

"'m gonna get ready for bed," he mumbled, then stood up. "Um– "

"I'll sleep on the couch," you said, knowing fully well how badly you fucked things up for the time being. "G'night."

You didn't wait for him to reply as you rushed out of the room, closing his bedroom door behind you. You couldn't imagine that things could get any worse.

As cliché as it sounded, things were worse. Over the next few days following that night, the two of you hardly saw each other. The vegan café you worked at was inconsistent with its shifts, therefore your hours this week were doubled compared to the week prior. Calum taught at school every weekday, and during the night he had band rehearsals. When you did see each other, the tension was thick, but not in a sexual way.

You really fucked things up. And, to make it even worse, you couldn't bring yourself to talk about it. Not many people tell their best friends that they could make them orgasm. No, that was crossing a big line, especially because it was unsolicited. You were both immensely uncomfortable.

The next Friday after the unfortunate, unwarranted confession, Calum showed up to the café after school. You had thirty minutes left of your shift when he arrived, so he waited as you prepared to clock out. Your stomach twisted in knots at the sight of him so calm and patient in the corner.

"Hi, buttercup," you muttered with an apologetic smile on your face. "Wanna go outside?"

"Please, babycakes, after you."

You were relieved to hear his nickname for you after a whole week of awkward encounters. The two of you made your way onto the patio quietly, and the next few moments after that were quiet as well.

"I'm sor– "

"Would you have done it?" he asked.

"What?"

Calum shifted in his chair. "Would you have done it?"

"I'm afraid I don't kn– "

"Baby," he said, now clearly irritated with you. "If you had the chance, would you have made me fucking cum?"

You tensed, giving the question a chance to bounce around in your head before thinking about it. And, God, your heart could not contain itself. You wanted to laugh it off and say no. You wanted to finally mention that you had been joking all along. But at the same time, you wanted to say yes. You wanted to say yes because you knew that it was the honest answer.

So, you nodded and said, "yeah." After that, your mouth caught up with your brain. "But, I would only try to if you absolutely wanted me to because consent is so important, and of course, you would only cum on your own accord, so I really can't say whether or not I could make you, plus– "

"Babycakes." Calum began to laugh. "Slow down."

You sunk down into your chair. "I'm sorry."

Calum scooted his chair closer to you, the metal of the legs grinding against the concrete sending a shiver up your spine. He reached out to take your hand, something he only did when he attempted to console you.

"Nothing," he said with a grin, then inched his face closer to yours. His lips brushed your cheek before moving up to graze the shell of your ear. "You just look so damn cute when you're flustered. You wouldn't even have to try to turn me on." A second later, the scraping of the chair against the ground sounded again. Calum stood up before the words could sink in. He bid you adieu with a simple nod before walking away as if he hadn't said a thing.

The feeling of his lips against your skin left your mind a muddled mess. You could hardly think. Because of Calum – your best friend – you could no longer breathe.

"I've got a Reese's cup with your name on it, cakes," said Calum. He parked his bike on the rack beside the tree you two often sat under. Today, you were situated on top of a blanket in the grass, a few snacks strewn about for the both of you to share. Once he sat next to you, he placed the opened package of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups in between the both of you.

"You certainly know your way into a girl's heart, buttercup," you responded with a grin. "Thank you." You held out the you for a while.

"Specifically, your heart." Calum sent you a wink after that, and when he looked elsewhere, you frowned.

The past few days since that evening after work were different than usual. Calum, the typical silent asshole that sometimes barely spoke to you, had become flirtatious. His hands found your waist more often than not, and he couldn't stop winking. Not to mention his continuous pet names. Babycakes was normal, a common name he'd been using for four years, but now it was more "baby" over cakes.

"Is that why you call me 'buttercup'?" Calum questioned.

When you glanced back over at him, he was sitting with one leg up, his arm resting just against the knee as his eyes squinted from the blinding sun. In his leather jacket, you swore you had never seen anyone more attractive than him.

You said "no" as he handed you the spare Reese's cup, then continued by saying, "but it does help that you fucking love them." It took you two bites to devour the cup while Calum most likely took one bite overall for his. "Did you ever get the new Nirvana record from Jack's?"

He sighed. "I couldn't. Remember? The day I went was the same day Mikey had that allergic reaction to shellfish or whatever." Calum began to mumble a few incoherent words while he picked strands of grass to his left, and because you struggled to hear, you moved closer to him on the blanket.

"Yeah, that was totally so rude of him," you replied with a clever smirk.

Calum rolled his eyes. "Fuck off, cakes."

"Did ya wanna go get it now?"

He shook his head, finally glancing back over his shoulder to meet your gaze. Ever since that night you complimented his brown eyes, they were nearly all you could see when you looked at him. And now, underneath the afternoon sun, they were telling things that you were too afraid to admit to yourself.

By this point, the both of you were bumping shoulders. His leather jacket was cool against your bare skin, even with the warmer temperatures; you had no clue how he was able to survive in that thing. While he looked undeniably hot in the jacket, he had to be physically burning up as well. Maybe he wanted to prove to you that he was tough as nails, but even the toughest of pups are still cute as hell.

"Buttercup," you breathed out, resting your head on his shoulder. "I love you."

His chuckle shook the shoulder you were leaning on. "I love you, too, baby."

No, you thought, not like that.

You couldn't think straight anymore. Whatever you had for Calum was reminiscent of high school crushes, but you didn't want that. You wanted the old "babycakes" and "buttercup", although you couldn't help but be perfectly okay with just "baby" now. Just "baby" made you feel all giddy inside and out.

The front door to Calum's apartment slammed shut. The harsh scent of cigarettes filled the room as he stepped silently over to you. You tried to pretend to be asleep, and maybe he was convinced. He slipped his shoes off next to the couch and sat beside your curled-up figure, his hands finding your waist to pull you into him.

"You awake, baby?" he whispered. His hands were warm against you, and he attempted to bring you even closer once you didn't answer. "I was thinkin'," he continued with the same hushed whisper, "while I was outside. I wanna take you out sometime, properly. Nothing like that time we tried when we first met. I know you too well now. I know exactly what you like, what makes you smile..."

You felt Calum's lips press against your forehead before he spoke again.

"Maybe then I'd finally..." His voice trailed off before he said what he wanted to. After that, he pulled away from you, but only slightly. "I know you're awake, baby. You kinda snore in your sleep."

"Fuck you," you mumbled against his flannel.

A laugh rumbled through his chest, and he said calmly, "sorry, baby."

Things were quiet for a few moments, and then you realized that he probably expected an answer from you. You decided to peak up at him only to find his own eyes closed. Even in the dim lighting, he looked serene and beautiful. You stared down at his lips, thinking about how they look with a cigarette in between them, how they would look with your lips on them.

"Calum," you murmured.

His eyes opened as he hummed.

"Kiss me."

He gazed at you for what felt like ages, and then he smiled. He smiled his big and beautiful, crinkly smile, the one that makes his eyes all squinty and happy. Calum knew he didn't have to say anything after that. The two of you were already close in proximity, so he leaned in, grazing your cheek with his hand as his lips met yours in a delicate kiss.

You swore that magic was real.

He kissed you softly once more, hardening his grip on your waist but keeping the other hand gently on the apple of your cheek. The kisses were slow, but then the pace picked up. They were now needy, and you felt every ounce of Calum's hidden vulnerabilities pour out of him at that moment. His kisses were warm, a staple of his character.

"Baby," he said against you, his lips pressing small kisses to your cheek before making their way down to your neck. "You're all I've ever wanted." For a while after that, he held you, soaking in your warmth and scent, and just you. You were his babycakes. And he was your buttercup.

ep3 -mahdi is a good friend and i love him. thank u -even wearing isak’s cap until he chucks it at him sjksfjsdjsd -how much yall wanna bet isak’s been listening to illmatic on repeat since last friday thinking abt even (even tho meeting sonja shattered his heart a lil) [also kinda an aside but i think a lot about how isak n even bonded over rap and how some homophobic lyrics in 90s etc rap might have impacted them? or how that little detail ties into julie’s story? e.g. halftime by nas, which is on illmatic] -whats worse. even staring into isaks soul wearing a size xs see-through white t shirt or isak staring at even for five (5) seconds before chugging his beer and immediately making out w emma. ep4 -i will never get over even sending isak bad seinfeld memes -even smacking open isak’s locker. first of all whew second of all u think as soon as he got into the stairwell he lowkey cried bc ow -parallel of isak saying “it’s 2016, why are you religious?” to sana vs. emma’s “it’s 2016, get out of the closet” to isak anyone :( -”takk sanasol!!!!” thank u isak for my life -I wanted to be with you aloneeeee -even’s face when he sees the pool like we get it youre a director -how many times do i need to say even is such a dick sjkfsd “does it look like i care about my hair?” “usually but not right now” like this would only work on isak i love soulmates!! -even just.. fully choking isak out ssdhgfd got em -when the first notes of im kissing you start ooh boy -even going in for the kill kiss and isak going from huh to oooo shit and pushing his lips out at the last minute. phenomenal

ep5 -ngl as soon as im not in love comes on my heart goes uwu bc like!!!! that song the meaNING.... them......... i jus love this scene sm like theyre in their own little bubble and they both feel so comfortable and at peace :(( -even leaving isak comics about an inside joke of theirs like yall mind if i scream -isak feeling left out from the conversation and his friends whew i felt that... and having them talk about how gross it is to makeout with a girl w facial hair?? blease :( -taking stock of isak’s nicknames: issy k, isabell, izzy, baby jesus, -im not even gonna bother trying to articulate thoughts on Pause bc it’s a literal masterpiece. thank u tarjei henrik and julie for inventing television with this one -MAGNUS SDFKJSDFJKDSHK "oooh my name is Jonas and I love idealism and reading klassekampen and I don’t like plastic and I skate on a skateboard made of sustainable wood and wear old clothes because new clothes are bad for the environment and I only drink recycled water” screAMMM -what i said abt pause also applies to pride ugh its such a powerful scene and!! the beginning of kicks to isaks stomach. honestly what i fucking love about this episode is how it goes from hell yea best day w even ever to crying in the street within one week (s3 had the best balance of angst and payoff thanks) -even’s Soft Party Flannel... forever tainted by this scene rip -not knowing why even kissed sonja keeps me up at night -speaking of. how used and stupid isak must’ve felt when he saw even completely unbothered, hooking up w his ex at this party?? whew :( -bros is one of my all time favourite clips solely bc of the music?? lift me up gives me chills and when hold my liquor starts i LOSE it -ep5 and 6 remind me of that quote “to see what your characters are really made of you have to break them” because julie rlly goes all in and god it hurts so good

ep6 -never have i ever seen insomnia portrayed as accurately as tarjei did here and i remember when i first watched the cantina scene i was like. winded bc its SO true to sleep deprivation whew -i really like that isak wasnt together with even when he reached out for help and came out to jonas. bc it was him, on his own, being strong enough to talk to his friends and then eventually he was confident and secure enough in himself to be in a good place when even started reaching back out!! -i have no idea what its like to come out to someone, to be afraid of your friends rejecting you, everything isak went through. but tarjei’s acting of when, like, you have something you KNOW you have to tell someone, and youve put yourself in the position where youre going to have to tell them, but youre terrified and eventually just force yourself SAY the words?? -and isak’s smile when he realizes jonas is gonna be his bro no matter what :’)))

ep7 -weirdly one of my favourite isak looks (black t-shirt grey snapback c-c-c-combo) -”what’s your name again?” have i mentioned i love sana and isak bc i love sana and isak -jonas truly is the best friend oh man. perceptive, thoughtful, loving, laidback, a friggen BRO. tbh i was wary of him in s1 and thought he didn’t treat eva well (tho I recognized he loved her a lot, he was just bad at being a boyfriend) but jonas in s3?? just goes to show how powerful your perspective of someone can change viewing them in a different role!! because while jonas was a crappy bf, he literally is SUCH an incredible friend and his actions and words and just! him! in s3 completely redeemed any illwill I had towards him :’) -maybe im a little gay (up there with other s3 comedy classics such as “thats a boys name”) -mahdi season WHEN ugh a legend -’when someone asks isak if hes going to a family party’ literally what other reason for living do i have if not to read the boy squad text convos -isaks locker finally opening and his smile at evens drawing whewwwwwww!! also even rlly is that guy who wont text you back but will leave hand written love letters in ur locker -also. another stellar look from valtersen -slutt a meld meg is a whole masterpiece like what other piece of media has the RANGE -eskild: play hard to get. jonas: no smiley!!! isak: nah fam im good B)

ep8 -this episode is BEAUTIFUL bc you feel practically euphoric?? like hell yeah theyre finally together!! isak is out and accepted and even is done with sonja! but theres also this unsettling undercurrent of worry bc you know deep down something isnt right? why is sonja calling isak? why is even acting kinda strange? whats going on? yknow?? -literally never going to get over 5 fine frokner :~) even is such a goddamn nerd and he’s the man of isak’s dreams can u believe!! -sana’s little speech is SO important in so many ways ooo i love her so much -also have we discussed eskild making evak do a photoshoot for him. highkey those are my favourite pictures of ALL time u can tell even was like hm strange but im down while isak was more omg guys stop🙄 omg haha eskild i cant believe youre making me cuddle with even for a photo🙄 i cant believe ur making me snuggle this dude for a pic!!!! definitely would not have done this otherwise!!! -magnus only realizing it’s THAT even after seeing how isak looks at him. whew -isak is so brave i rlly love that kid! his text to his mamma <3 -no r*make will EVER nail text conversations like mari/julie did w evak’s this week thanks for coming to my ted talk. i'd quote the best ones but it would literally double the length of this post (ok ill cave. “hahaha shut up❤️” GETS me) -you dont know whats in store but you know what youre here for. hallo -isak running around oslo with even’s clothes looking for him :( his heart is so big he cares about even so so much -when Part II (on the run) comes on in the credits its like a kick in the teeth honestly

ep9 -ive already screamed enough about cherry wine but god it fucks me up -cannot put into words how much I love eskild and how good of a person he is, he just has so much love in his heart -”wait they have waffles here? see ya” -this convo is why i love skam so much!!!! magnus giving insight and good thoughtful advice to isak was such a brilliant move by julie (also truLy heartwarming) bc like. magnus is a flawed layered character! he’s dumb and ignorant and not very careful with his words BUT hes also such a sweet guy. i genuinely dont think he would hurt a fly and him talking about vilde (in ep10) is ;-; bc he really likes her and respects her and wants to be a gentleman! hes so loving and just. yeah. also i wonder if isak and magnus (and vilde) ever talked about having mentally ill parents and lent on each other for support bc like....<3 [sidenote- this is why i HATE b***** like they absolutely massacred magnus’s character and magnus did not deserve that!] -det er bare slutt........ very cool of tarjei to invent acting here. also the character development makes me WEEP like at first isak lied and told his pappa it was over bc its easier to brush stuff off and say you were joking than be vulnerable especially about 1. having a boyfriend and 2. saying youve already broken up?? but then isak was like hey im done with lying about who i am bc i want my life to be REAL and he told his dad the truth even if it was hard and even if he was trying rlly hard not to cry -isak reaching out to even<3 standing up for even<3 -o helga natt. another scene i genuinely cannot comment on bc u cant really put into any written language how magical and breathtaking and heartbreaking and powerful and brilliant this scene is. so. -jk. obvs i cant say anything intelligent enough to give this scene justice but probably the most stunning piece of television i have ever had the privilege of watching. even’s text breaks my heart every gd time (esp since we never really see this side of him before finding out he’s bipolar? his guilt, insecurity, feeling like a burden, being scared of losing everyone in his life because he thinks he’ll hurt them). the music is SO beautiful i cry real tears as soon as the strings start. also the brilliance of JUST o helga natt playing and no dialogue except for isaks one line? isak’s realization when he sees the cross. him RUNNING across oslo to go to even. the FLASHBACKS all going backwards in chronological order until them smoking on the bench. isak looking at the bench and not seeing even and u can feel his heart breaking and urs breaks too! but then he remembers the bathroom and he turns and theres even and whewwww. du er ikke alene<3

ep10 -minutt for minutt is THE most healing clip im telling u. and like.. seeing even depressed really is hard and as someone who was very very depressed for 4-ish yrs of their life it rlly hits me? like when youre in an especially bad funk and you cant get out of bed and youre just numb and exhausted and feel so shitty and u want to be alone but you really dont???? could go on but literally i owe henrik holm my life for his portrayal of even -not to be a soft bitch on main but when isak tucks the blanket over even and it keeps getting pulled off his back so isak just. covers that spot with himself? -i do love that call between sonja and isak bc once again! a flawed (realistic) human being -and isak thinking its his fault even is depressed? it means a lot that sonja told him its no ones fault, even is just bipolar. and i wonder if isak felt that way about his mamma as well, guilty for her being ill, and if what sonja said made him feel better about that situation too :( -lowkey random but when isak is rambling really fast and he goes “maybe we’ll get bombed tomorrow and talking about all this is a waste of time” it continually punches me in the throat bc that is /exactly/ how i ramble and think like tarjei........ pls -like eskild said. there really is so much love in isak’s little grumpy teenage body<3 -isak no longer just passively accepting life as its given to him, now he fights for him and even!!!!! -isak is such a forgiving person and seeing him able to just accept things and move on? incredible -i remember when i first watched ep1 i was like oooo even and isak are gonna be kosegruppa partners and thats when theyll first get together, cooking food or smth!! but lmfao after episode 3? kosegruppa whomst???? also hilarious vilde thought isak of all people would willingly sign up for kosegruppa just to go to revue parties -even and linn friendship!!!! -cannot articulate how mf heartwarming it is to see even smiling and being more himself after being depressed (also thank u julie for having ups and downs coming out of his depression- its so true to life having one day when youre feeling awesome and then the next you feel awful again for no reason and its SO frustrating) -I had to stop watching passe pa meg cause it made me toooooo crazy! it would just be like: “I like seeing you laugh” and I was like: *SCREAMS* -im the fucking master of lying 😤 -literally don’t know why isak and even ragging on kosegruppa is so funny but “did you think I joined to have fun” gets me every time -I SAW YOU THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL -also even literally radiating love @ isak watching get snarky w vilde on the phone bc it reminded him of the first time he saw him! even rly is that boyfriend who thinks isak being pissy is the Best Thing he has Ever seen -halla boiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiz -literally the glo up of isak telling his friends the order in which he’d bang them -No filter! wow I love symbolism -so nice to see the girls together for a lil bit :) -the boys hyping up mags while also telling him to be respectful awwwwww -take desperate to a whole new level- Confucius -who’s going to show isak how to properly hold a beer can -literally evak banter gets me thru the day. thank u tarjei and henrik for having phenomenal chemistry + improvisation skills + making isak and even the dumbest nerdiest boys i have ever seen -biology partner. and friend. ;-; -even literally is the biggest stoner blease -isak’s talk with eva is just sooooo<3 and not to be emo on main but every single word of the last few sentences he says hit me so gd hard because i feel the exact same way in my BONES -livet er nå 💛

final thoughts :( <3 -this season is so special. it feels like one really long oscar-worthy movie or smth?? i cant even exblain, its just magical. ALSO very dear to my heart. -julie really said you guys have seen isak sad and alone and repressed for the past two seasons so heres him falling in love with the best person in the world and coming to terms with who he is and being brave and opening up and finally being happy and living a real life -this season definitely feels different from s1/2/4 to me editing or production or music smth wise? as in, its got a lot fewer aesthetic shots and the cinematography seems a bit different if that makes any sense???? I also think this is the season most focused just on the main (i.e. not many- if any? sideplots going on) -literally will never get over the thought, love, and detail put into this season. when i say there is literally nothing i would change about it, i mean it and coming from my nitpicky ass??? means a lot lmfao. the acting, directing, music choices, symbolism...... sublime -s3′s cold rainy autumn aesthetic makes me ACHE for fall and also nostalgic for a highschool experience I never had lmao?? also. all the nighttime clips >>> -don’t know what else to say except thank u skam for my life

3. Blood Bunny – chloe moriondo  This might just be a perfect album. Like, objectively. There isn’t a single thing wrong with it. From its weird Cartoon Network cover art to the subdued overindulgence (no, they don’t cancel each other out, there’s an “over” here over here) of the vocals, it all works. It’s like chloe moriondo’s voice was genetically engineered to sing in that early aughts indie band overstated diction. Somehow, it’s not annoying when she does it. In fact, her distinguished voice is the only reason why I know I’m not listening to Soccer Mommy. It is also why her screaming is such a treat. For instance, in Vapor, she spends the whole song pretty much shouting the title word, but – like vapor – it doesn’t hurt when it brushes against you. It feels like someone has come dangerously close to scratching nails on a chalkboard, and then laughed at you for believing they might do it. Thank you, lo-fi.  When you have a good vocalist and the right instruments, you don’t really need good lyrics – they simply become meaningful through the cadence. Most people don’t even pay attention to the lyrics. Nonetheless, that did not stop moriondo from having fantastic lines throughout the album – brevity is effortlessly achieved as she manages to say the most in the fewest words possible (“you’re the reason I dye my hair blue”, “don’t know if I hate you or if I wanna date you”, “And I can tell that you’re just bluffing, trying to sing along”).  Where was the Paramore Renaissance when I was a teenager? They were in hiatus for the entirety of my high school experience. In so many ways, Blood Bunny is actually the more accomplished version of another album on this list: Olivia Rodrigo’s SOUR. Not that I don’t love SOUR, but this is more eclectic and polished and has the better song about getting one’s driver’s license (“I finally got my license / I think I’m gonna drive this time / Was just going through a crisis / Only took a couple years, it’s fine” from Rly Don’t Care). Also, chloe moriondo openly shouts out Paramore and Hayley Williams in most hilarious song of this album, which is about how her SO’s bad music taste (“We’re hanging out again, I’m wondering what I came here for / When I could be at home with my headphones and Paramore”, “And Hayley just gets me / the way you never did”).  Best Song: Favorite Band is everything to me right now.  Skip: *whispers* I don’t think there are any skips here Best Lyrics: The chorus of Favorite Band, “I wish I liked you as much as I like my favorite band / It’s not your fault, it’s mine / I’m just a kid, like Simple Plan” She really used “Simple Plan” and “favorite band” in the same sentence. That is the gutsiest thing I have ever seen anyone do in my life. Braver than any US marine.

Describe your best friend. that’s a hard one.... i don’t think i have one anymore. i used to have this girl in my life, M, who i was really close to, but we had a fallout in october and she never came around to fix this even though i was open to the idea... so i lost my best friend, which is kinda sad considering that she was the only person i could open up to in the last 3 yrs. but hey that happens! i moved on and have a close friend still so im all good.

What are three places you want to travel? i really wanna visit scotland! it has this specific atmosphere i really long to experience, and i wanna see the landmarks and grassy fields and loch ness and haunted places and just roam around there for a while. i also wanna see moscow - it’s been sort of an obsession of mine since reading glukhovsky’s metro series, and also it’s a beautiful city worth visiting. i’d also like to get on the trans-siberian express but that’s not a specific place dsfsgdf the last place would be the aokigahara forest in japan - also one of the places i feel drawn to for ages now. found out about it years ago and since it’s been sort of a plan of mine to visit one time. if i manage to graduate university my mum promised to send me on a trip to japan - so if it works out, ill be on my way there baby! (i just need to work on my language skills first sasdfgf)

What’s your pet peeve? loud breathing, loud chewing... generally people being loud and annoying. ppl not covering their mouths while coughing. ppl who walk super slowly and take up all of the walkway like FUCK OFF OF MY WAY GODDAMMIT. in games when the npc walks a lot slower than ur running, but walking a lot faster than ur walking so its impossible to keep up with them. ppl not using headphones in public spaces. old ppl demanding respect when they treat u like shit. ppl forcing their religion on u (im looking at u auntie). ppl slurping their drinks. couples almost f*cking each other in public places... just get a room smh

ON TINDER. i live in an university town so i was like kewl imma make some ppl my age (until then all of my friends were A LOT older than me) and have some friends and if romance happens then it happens, w/e. so i set up this bar night with this one guy, i believe his name was David? so David and i meet up for drinks, i grab a gintonic and we sit down to talk... what he never knew abt me is that i am on the adhd spectrum and i have to get my hands busy with smth so i can focus on what im saying otherwise my thoughs r all over the place. so im casually keeping my hands busy with just spinning my locked phone there and back, or just messing around with the lime slice on my glass and at a random moment David goes like “u know.... i hate when ppl cant stop messing around with their phone” and im like ????? dude im literally just spinning it, not even messaging anyone or unlocking it or shit. and he goes on this rant that he always expects ppl to pay full attention to him when talking, looking at him (i never look ppl in the eyes cuz i tend to just go into panic mode from long eye contact and also i think its creepy to just stare at someone constantly) and just not doing anything else except paying attention to him so i go on explaining to him that i need to keep myself busy and im not doing it to annoy him - but he keeps on insisting so i excuse myself to a cigarette (he also hated smokers lmao) and call the widowmaker main friend from the previous question and am like “hey man i have the worst date of my life can u be at this place in 40 minutes and then we hit the night life” and hes like fine so i go back to David and tell him “sorry mate i just remembered i have my last bus home in 30 minutes and the next one is in 1,5 hrs and i really cant stay out that late so can we wrap this up and schedule an other meeting some other time” and hes like fine... got me to the bus stop, i sat on the bus.... got off at the next bus stop, met up with widowmaker main guy and went out for drinks and decided to never go on tinder dates again sdfgsdfg
