Okay so! 'JC's no good very bad day' is a SangCheng fic that's kind of part of the Orville Peck Cinematic Universe! The next summer after the main installments, Nie Huaisang goes back to Montana, and this time he decides to bring Jiang Cheng with him to try to cheer him up even though NHS doesn't quite know what's been upsetting JC lately. (The answer is that JC is feeling left behind and abandoned by the people he loves most [including NHS] and feels very much like he's stuck in a rut running the family company on his own, so a bonding trip with NHS sounds like a nice way to spend the summer.) Of course it's not that easy and they've got some shit to figure out between them considering JC is ace and NHS very much is not and that causes some major communication bobbles, but of course they'll get there in the end 😌 Here's a snippet!

They don’t have dinner nearly as often as Huaisang would like to during the spring, but it really can’t be helped. He always puts his head down and actually works in the spring, getting new textiles and designs ready and ensuring everything in his atelier will run smoothly while he visits Montana for the summer, as he has every year since Mingjue left. If you asked Ifrit, the movie is five hours long. When it eventually ends, and Aether stands, stretching his arms above his head and saying that he’s headed to bed. Ifrit tries his best to look unbothered, but he stands and follows, unable to do anything except appear like the lost puppy trying to follow Aether home. 

Aether smiles at him as they step into the hallway together. “What’s up, Fritter?”  It’s not a loaded question. Aether’s face is soft and open, and Ifrit wants to go to his knees and plead. Instead he crosses his arms.  “You promised.” 

Aether raises his eyebrows. “I--what?” 

“Don’t do this, Aeth.” Aether shrugs. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.” 

“You said you’d fuck me, that you’d take care of me.” Ifrit says, grinding his teeth together in a bad attempt at keeping his voice down. 

“Did I?” 

Ifrit whines. The sound surprises both of them. Ifrit wants to gather it up and shove it back down his throat.  “Don’t make me do this, Aeth please. I just want-.” 

Aether slings his arm around Ifrit’s shoulder. “I know.” 

He steers them both down the hallway towards Aether’s room. 

“I’ve been so good. Patient.” 

“Have you been?” 

“Aeth--” Ifrit’s face is drawing down, into something that might be despair. Aether must notice it because he softens as he opens his bedroom door and ushers Ifrit inside.  “Don’t worry.” Aether says, sliding his hand up to rest gently in the hair at the back of Ifrit’s neck. He thumbs over the place where his spine meets his skull. “I’m going to give you exactly what you need.”

Hello. Here I am once again, completely uninvited, spewing my thoughts directly into your inbox.

Man, The Car!Al and younger reader. My brain is filled with all sorts of rot but the thing currently rotting my brain is this. Younger reader who had issues with physical intimacy and The Car!Al who is just so sweet and patient with her.

Like, what do you think about the following?

Them not doing anything for some time and Al being completely okay with it because it's the girl he's smitten with, not the act. Then after it being a while into the relationship, the reader decides on her own to start trying to battle her issues with his help little by little because he's the only one who has ever made her feel so comfortable (despite the major power imbalance). At first him being like, "darling, really, it's alright. If you're doing this for me, then I must reassure you at once that I wouldn't mind even a bit if we remained this way our entire life as long as it's you who's with me" but after you reassure him that YOU want to do it, him being completely supportive and never ever getting frustrated by the slow rate of progress that you two guys make and just-

AHHHH I LOVE THIS IDEA especially as someone who’s not too physically affectionate, the thought of someone not caring and just taking it slow and taking it at your pace 🥺🥺🥺

And he’d be so reassuring, always checking before he pulls you in for a cuddle or kissing your forehead. And as you’re taking it slow, he gets to know what you like and what you don’t like, just as you are getting to know it yourself. Slowly progressing from holding hands, to cuddling in bed, sitting on his lap on the sofa, and of course the more sexual stuff. With the sex he’d be so patient and reassuring, basically worshipping your body so much that it’s impossible for you to feel insecure, telling you how good you make him feel.

And the Car Al is so perfect for this, experienced man with inexperienced, younger girl, a power imbalance but he won’t take advantage of it (unless you want him to ;) )

Omg haha we must be up to around the same part! I'm really interested in Hawkins right now. I like the idea of being taken hostage by him while Law tries to save me. 😭

Ooo being interrogated by Hawkins who gets very close and is super domineering. He's definitely staring down at you silently as he breaks your fingers one by one when you refuse to answer him. 😔 You refuse to say anything about the plan- just like Law instructed. You just cry and bleed. 😔

If hurting you doesn't work he isn't afraid to try other options. He noticed your flinching when his hand accidently brushed against your upper thigh. He knows you're Law's girl- maybe not officially but he's seen the way you act around eachother and rhe way Law denies everything vehemently. 😭

He's the type to grab your face by your cheeks and force you to make eye contact with him before he forces his mouth against yours. Maybe he gives you a bloody nose. I think they're cute for some reason.

Law would save the day of course. You'd be injured and traumatized but that's the price you pay for being so devoted to him. Oooh you smiling at Law, covered in blood and bruises and exclaiming you didn't tell him anything like you promised. 😔 Aaaaahhh the angst.

Ahhhh the angst!! Hawkins knows he can break you--there was just enough indication in the cards that you'd fold for him that he'll go to any lengths to make sure it happens. You're so devoted to Law, he can see it in your eyes, feel it in the way your little heart beats faster when he mentions him, and he can't wait to make you forget all about him, to make you focus only on him. He loves the way his fingers sink into your skin, bruises already blooming underneath the surface; maybe it'll be enough to make you forget all about your captain and make you give him what he wants (information? your body? who's to say at this point?). And god I do love a good bloody nose tbh 😔

Poor Law. He can only heal the physical injuries that Hawkins caused, and has to live with his own damage knowing the lengths you went to just to protect him. 😔

THINKING ABIUT MEDNIN ISMS….. ahhhh. I’m gonna go into ino though actually. Ino actually has good basis for being a med nin with her mind transfer. off the bat she’s more of a passive combatant than an active one, so being a mednin is a good addition on top of what she already had. also considering her family basis in tni…. Like. being a med nin can work and be interesting if it was just utilized Properly and not just handed off to almost every woman because. Woman. and in particular I think ino would actually be great for it. being a med nin would have to come with so much knowledge over the human body, there’s no way you’d only pick up on how to heal it and not how to exploit it. even if med nin weren’t explicitly “taught” how to weaponize their knowledge im sure some of them would go “what if I used this knowledge for……. something else..” ESPECIALLY— as mentioned in the kk backstory episodes w/ kanabi bridge, med nin are so rare they will often be captured and kept alive by enemy shinobi to heal their own ranks. it would Not be crazy for a med nin stuck in enemy territory forced to heal the enemies ranks to try and remarkably Fuck Up their patients in ways they can get away with. thus I propose the true like,,, “Measure” of a great med nin is actually their ability to do as much harm as they can undetected. because that is cool.

anyway in my own personal naruto ino is just this unbelievably beautiful woman who’s doing up flower bouquets and you see her on the street and go wow…most traditionally ideal woman…… she must be sweet as pumpkin pie <3 and then at her real job she’s splitting skulls every other day for fun.

Oh my god! you see pretty flower shop girl in the battlefield… and she’s a medic…………..traditional ideal woman… a few hours later ino is back at her Real Job where she’s the most..um.. “persuasive” tni agent.

13. what's a common writing tip that you almost always follow?

Just keep writing. There's been times I've gotten hung up on not being able to remember the exact word or phrasing I wanted to use in a sentence, and my writing would come to a grinding halt because I refused to keep going until I remembered exactly what I wanted to put down.

No, BAD. So I slowly have been breaking that habit by just putting either a filler word or something in brackets like [fill later] so I know to come back later, and I just keep going. My drafts always look like a mess because I'll have things like that everywhere where a scene isn't quite put together yet, but it's important to keep writing because you can always go back later. And usually when I keep going, I end up remembering what I wanted to say or, in some cases, think of something better, then I just either jot it down for later or go back and fill it in.

40. If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see?

OK, SO. I have been so tempted to commission an artist for a very specific scene but they've had their commissions closed for a while, so I'm just twiddling my thumbs and patiently waiting until they open again. 😭 But a scene I'd want is from my fic foiled fables of kitsunezai and Chuuya sitting in a field of flowers, with Chuuya playing with Dazai's tails as Dazai threads a flower through Chuuya's hair. It just lives rent-free in my head and I think it'd be super cute as art. So many scenes from that fic I'd love to see as art, honestly, but that one just makes me fuzzy.

66. How do you deal with writing pressure (ie. pressure to update, negative comments, deadlines, etc.)?

Pressures to update and stuff, I just tell people 'hey, thanks for sticking with me and continuing to read! The next update will be available when I get around to it!' and just leave it at that. I always, always appreciate when people take the time out to comment, so knowing that someone is so excited that they're wondering when I'll update next, I match their energy and let them know as soon as I get to it, I'll update!

Deadlines have mostly been self-imposed. 💀 I make my own deadlines for absolutely no reason other than to try to keep myself writing. But what I do is at least try to write a little bit each day, even if it's just a sentence or two on my phone while on break at work. it's still. Progress. I usually have the terrible habit of, on my days off, just knocking out 8-10k words in a sitting instead of building it up over the week, so sometimes I'll go a whole week without writing, then on my first day off, spend literally the whole day and sometimes pull all-nighters writing.

Yeaaah, I don't recommend it. I think writing a little each day is way more manageable, so I try to stick to that and don't impose an arbitrary wordcount on myself so there isn't as much pressure.

As for negativity, I don't let it get to me. I do this all for fun and because I want to, so (I know it sounds so simple and easy) I don't let any negativity in my head live rent-free and I just keep it pushing. There's too many things to write and too many characters to put into neat situations for me to stop and waste time on negativity! These stories must be written! AHHHH.

Poor teenager Levi!! Being forced into “becoming a man” is such a disgusting idea and I hope it did not cause him more trauma than he already has 😭

I was wondering, did he even know how romantic love was supposed to look like Underground? Maybe he encountered a lovely couple once.. Okay I'm just being hit by this scenario-

Levi is 18-20, and he one day glimpse at two people about his age who seem to be very close to each other in the streets. It's a guy and a girl. The guy seems very protective of the girl and holds the girl's hand tight. He thought they were weird, because the girl just kind of seemed like a reliability, always daydreaming and wandering about and being overly naive, while the guy was always looking out for her and yet still being attentive and kind and patient towards her. Maybe Levi thought it was weird for him to be so kind to a girl in a normal and not sexual way? Because let's face it, I don't think there are much kind and romantic men down here,,

Anyways, every time he sees them around, he becomes more and more intrigued as to why they are like this towards each other, because why are they being such fools anyway?? What's the point of their relationship? Why is the guy so in love with her and so proud about it, isn't it embarrassing for a man? Yeah, his girlfriend is pretty but that does not explain it all!

Let's just say Levi becomes more and more confused and I think it would irritate him at one point, the way that he just does. Not. Understand.

He would see them in the market sometimes, always together, and the guy, watching out for her as always. The girl would usually talk about the most random things that fascinates her and her boyfriend would listen to her intently with a soft expression on his face, and he would let himself be vulnerable with her IN PUBLIC, holding hands, softly caressing her hands, wiping a speck on her cheek, letting himself being kissed on the cheek by her, chuckling and grinning.

Whenever Levi encounters them, they never change. The guy is just always so so unapologetically kind and protective over her, to the point where one day, he shows how much he cares for her.

It was all some stupid accident, some guy decided to hit on her and dare touch her, which did not please her boyfriend, at. All. He went ballistic, and more guys came along to defend their stupid friend, so he was one against a whole bunch. He was endangering himself for her sake, no questions asked, and what was even more shocking for Levi is that she, the “reliable” one, the naive one, the helpless one, gave her all to protect him as well, getting her clothes, her hair, her face, bloody, ruined, endangering her life as well to protect her lover.

Aaaaaand it's becoming late here + this whole scenario-rant must be so stupid for you but anyway if you wanna add your input you're welcome to do so I hope you like what I wrote nonetheless 😭

Since you said you would like my input, I will give some feedback if that's ok! First I think the idea of Levi not understanding why someone would want to be so vulnerable, it's quite relatable to him!

I think Levi doesn't want to know anything about PDA mainly because of him. If he were to find someone that creates such strong emotions on him that makes him want to open up and be vulnerable around them... It's only and ONLY with that person. He would never want to be seen as vulnerable in public, that's something he reserves to his lover. And considering that the underground is a place where vulnerability isn't a good idea, he finds it risky and silly to do so.

On the other hand, just because Levi is like that, doesn't mean everybody in the underground is! There's even a spin off of the Manga where Levi joins a bar owner in an Arm wrestling competition and the bar owner says that "if he wins he can take anything he wants, even his old wife". Levi wins and the owner begs him to take anything but not his wife. It's obvious that romantic and traditional relationships exist in the underground.

I think we sometimes think that people who live in such harsh conditions can hardly experience love or happiness but, if there's something surprising about humans' nature (at least for me), it's that we always find a way to be somehow happy even in places like those. There must be more "nice guys" down there than just Levi and Farlan. And, also, people live underground. Some of them own bars, little shops, try to survive with what they can and they fall in love. In the manga it seemed that there are people playing music, street people singing for food.

I think that, despite all the awful experiences, Levi must have had moments of happiness.. with his friends, alone.

I'm not trying to argue against your idea! I think that, indeed, Levi would find such displays of affection risky and maybe stupid but I don't think he's alienated from the concept of love, romantic relationships and happiness.
