okay making a proper post just to compile all my own thoughts!

at the end of Grian's episode, he's doing his outro and falls down the hole where his beacon is and lands with two hearts left. he looks over at the rift, which is producing strange sound effects, eats a suspicious stew that gives him blindness, and cuts to black after he gets hit by a zombie. there's a few seconds of Scar reading the audiobook he did for the ad segment before the episode ends. here's what I've got as far as analysis and thoughts:

- after actually double checking my numbers on the Minecraft wiki, if you have feather falling iv boots + two other pieces of armor with protection iv (I'm operating under the assumption that Grian did have prot iv on the helmet and leggings he was also wearing), a player with full health survives a maximum fall distance of 103 blocks. while the Rift is down at roughly y=0, I don't think that Grian's base is above y=100, so him surviving with two hearts remaining checks out.

- the Rift sound effects definitely hint at something. Grian has been saying - particularly when he built the Rift - that he wants to do more storytelling via builds this season. I really hope that this will turn into a full storyline, because holy fuck he's great at lore but never really does it.

- I'd also like to note the strange shadows in the Rift?

not to be an Evo fan on main, buuuuuuut...it's not that much of a stretch to imagine that looks like the Evo symbol, right? and also, while we're at it, yes the association of purple w Evo is mostly fanon but in the series logo the symbol/portal is filled with a magenta-pink hue, y'know, the same color as the Rift. not to say that's gonna lead to anything but I am legally obligated to theorize on it, okay,

- hate to break this part to everyone but the Landscaping Your Mind part almost definitely doesn't mean anything, Grian decided to add that to the very end yesterday during MCC when Scar jokingly started reciting it. don't have a clip but if you're looking to see that bit it was after dodgebolt.

- what was the suspicious stew about. Grian. what was that blindness effect for. are you making reference to ohhhh let's say. a certain lore element to do with Watching. I kind of doubt this is about the Watchers but again! as a resident Evo stan and the self proclaimed #1 Watchers apologist, let a guy dream okay.

I think that's everything I had to say, please feel free to add stuff! would love to hear more thoughts on this, especially the part with the blindness stew bc I forgot about that bit and I think it could definitely be Something.

The most difficult thing about being deeply in love with the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan (aside from all the other many difficult things that are inherent to that sentence) is that for the rest of my life I am going to know about Branden Sanderson, not as a vague author who some of my friends like and whose books were not to my taste or preference, but rather as someone who I will never ever stop being exposed to. Every algorithm is going to keep recommending me his books, every time he writes something new or says something new, I am going to hear about it, every time their an adaption or a new plot twist I am going to learn about it. I am going to never stop seeing fanart of his most popular characters, or meta circulated on his most controversial ones. It's just the nature of the beast: no matter how little I care for Brandon Sanderson, no matter how clear I make it that my only interaction with his work is the stuff he wrote to finish out WoT, the only way to dislodge myself from the background radiation, would be to dislodge myself from the WoT fandom, which I will never do, because I love WoT.

I understand intellectually that Sanderson is an author that many people enjoy, and if nothing else he certainly is prolific. But he's also not an author I enjoy. And yet, there will never be a world in which I stop being exposed to Sanderson, because of the indelible link between him and WoT.

So. There's that.

56. Pretty insecure (armchair diagnosed anxiety)

Okay so, for the first part, Logan tends to be pretty self-deprecating (such as in the Aussie slang video from earlier in the year) and many people who’ve worked with him say he’s pretty soft-spoken and well-mannered. I have a semi-popular post where I compare Lance and Logan’s body language during a press conference and how much more timid Logan is compared to Lance (it should be one of my popular posts at the top of my blog).

So yeah, he comes across as pretty insecure when he’s in larger settings. This isn’t as obvious when he’s around people he’s comfortable with (Alex, George, Oscar, Benny) but when he’s in a bigger setting it’s very true. (See: @mrslatifi’s video of Logan blushing during the Austin fan meet when she complimented him)

As for the second part “armchair diagnosis” or armchair psychology is “when someone without any relevant experience or qualifications gives you mental illness advice.” I used this term bc I “armchair diagnosed” (so just from my perception of him and without any personal interaction with him) Logan with anxiety. I do have the relevant experience (diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder and know how it portrays itself in body language and tone) but I don’t have enough personal knowledge on Logan himself to actually say, definitively, whether or not he has any long-form anxiety or if it’s just the stress of the increase in public spotlight.

So yeah, sorry I tend to get wordy with stuff like this, hope this answered your question.
