researching autopsies for a fic and I think it is interesting what is considered too gory and what isn't in any media, fiction or educational.
Like a dead body is almost always blurred in a professional setting unless you are in a related feild like forensics or whatnot. News articles and video thumbnails blur out bloody or partially decomposed bodies because it's too gruesome.
But past a certain stage, when they body starts to look more like a skeleton, the blurring lessens a lot. A real human skeleton is hardly ever blurred, even if it hasn't been nice and cleaned. So you think, huh, the fleshy gore is what people dislike seeing.
But no! Because in many videos, they blur the body that they are doing the autopsy on, so you can't tell what is going on other than the fact that the body is open. But the moment an organ is removed from the body, the blur goes away. The same liver that was just in a mass of gaussian blur is now sitting on the table in HD, uncensored.
So like, it's the conceptualization of the body that is disturbing, seeing something like you being dead and seeming like a mass of parts instead of a living system. So the further from human you get, the less disturbed people are. The flesh has all decomposed? That's a skeleton, not a person. The organs on there own don't make a man, so seeing a heart or a lung or a brain on a table is okay, as long as it isn't still attached to the whole.
Which I understand but I find it odd at the same time. Like you ARE those peices. You could have every organ and bone and tissue that makes up a human laid out on a table and people would be less disturbed by the image because it is in separate, unfamiliar pieces. But that's still a whole human body! Like that's the same guy!!! But as long as his skin and face aren't recognizable, it makes it less upsetting for some reason.
Very strange

hmmm...doing research for this UNNECESSARY task I have decided to embark on...and...well I was like “How would he become a God?” and the most common ways this happens in the Forgotten Realms is you either get uplifted by a patron deity (obviously not going to work here since he doesn’t have one anymore) OR by killing one and absorbing their divine spark.
So...then I was thinking of who that could be and my brain was instantly...well...Selvetarm seems like a good choice. So I look him up and...then
just had this epiphany.
The next book is titled “Lloth’s Warrior” which was honestly a little confusing for me but then in the wiki it says this
Selvetarm (pronounced: /ˌsɛlvɛˈtɑːrm/ SELL-veh-TARM[3][10]), known also as The Spider that Waits,[3] (self-appointed)[11] Champion of Lolth
I mean it’s not the exact same wording but...champion and warrior is not THAT far off.
And he WAS a Deity that was listed as being returned during the recent events of the second Sundering.

Very much inspired by that Valentine Pin-Up Alastor merch where the only significant change is him having his bow-tie unclipped.
Anyway, happy valentine day sike, it's Aro week and we are begrudgingly going on dates to help our friends with their heist. Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 (end)

hang out with a friend today with the plan of watching the equestrian part of pentathlon and then playing rain code today except that after watching the equestrian part of pentathlon we just watched the other equestrian competitions from olympics. it was fun.

so i have a playthrough of the world ends with you on in the background.
(and like. there's something about nomura's highly stylized stories about trusting people and kodaka's highly stylized stories about hope overcoming despair, but i'm not going there. beyond, you know. lampshading it.)
but one of the minor background characters is named makoto, like so background that he's just a minor npc who keeps showing up, and just every time his name comes up: makoto?

The Italian restaurant in my mom’s hometown WAS definitely a mob front. The owner briefly served in the Italian military, immigrated to America in his twenties back in the early 70s, mysteriously had enough money to open a chain of Italian restaurants and was convicted for trafficking cocaine across the Virginia/West Virginia area and spent 15 years in prison.
My mom had worked as a waitress at the place while she was a teenager and throughout her 20s and she realized that when she was sent to the restaurant’s sister location in West Virginia in a mysteriously packed car by her mysteriously nice boss, it probably wasn’t pizza ingredients she was hauling. It was the 80s. She was a tiny, very naive, conventionally attractive church girl with no criminal record so she was the perfect unwitting drug mule.
The thing was, this restaurant and the man who operated it were locally loved. Beyond large scale organized cocaine trafficking, food was his other passion. Everyone waited anxiously for him to get out of prison and when he did this guy started a crusade against the corrupt local sheriff’s office. He started doing anti-police brutality advocacy work WHOLEHEARTEDLY. Donating to local families who had been victims and participating in local drives and awareness campaigns.
Made men usually do local charity work but the balls on this guy to take up sword and spear against shitty corrupt ineffectual law enforcement. Incredible. One thing about Appalachians is that we hate the cops and we love social agitators. This guy lived a long eventful life and died recently of natural causes and the overwhelming outpouring of love for him on Facebook was incredible, a uniting force that the town had not seen in decades, everybody was sharing their favorite stories about him and I’m sure local law enforcement was fuming.

tell me how i watched a whole boys planet and everything, and never knew that jay has a quarter of hungarian blood in him, also his birth name (? at least on profile) is "steven kapossy"???? like that's so wild to me, kapossy is an old traditional noble hungarian surname????? also steven has a hungarian translation (jay doesn't really lkjfsljfsds). as a hungarian, this is so surreal to me and my mind is blown

not "i ship these characters" or "i want them to bond platonically" but a secret 3rd thing (I want them to be forced to interact by the Narrative bc they would HATE that)
