DISCLAIMER: i am not a Seventeen expert as i became a fan not too long ago so please do not come after me if any of this information is wrong <333 please just message me if i need to fix anything, thank you :)

so Seventeen has a total of 13 members (no, not 17) and they debuted on May 16, 2015. they are under Pledis Entertainment so if you ever hear Pledis, your first thought is most likely going to be Seventeen. their ages range from ‘95 to ‘99 and although there are a lot of them, it’s actually pretty easy getting to know who’s who once you match their names to faces! the only difficulty i had was matching their real names to their faces rather than their stage names.

first, we have S.Coups, aka Choi Seungcheol who is the oldest! his birthday is August 8, 1995 (happy belated birthday to my man 😎) and he is the leader of Seventeen, alongside the leader of Hip-Hop Unit (i will dive into that later).

the second eldest is Yoon Jeonghan and his birthday is October 4, 1995. he is part of Vocal Unit and he is said to be one of the visuals of the group and i agree, he is a beautiful beautiful man indeed 😁

next, we have Hong Joshua (or Jisoo, his Korean name) and he is one of the Korean-American members. he was born in Los Angeles, California, and lived there until he was 18 before he joined Pledis Entertainment and moved to Korea. his birthday is December 30, 1995, the same as Taehyung's! he is also part of Vocal Unit.

the fourth member is Wen Junhui (or Moon Junhwi, which is his Korean name) and he is one of the Chinese members of the group. he is part of Performance Unit and his birthday is June 10, 1996.

the fifth member is Hoshi, aka Kwon Soonyoung, and he is the leader of Performance Unit! if you've ever seen or heard a Seventeen member talk about tigers, chances are it was Hoshi. his job is just...tiger. he was born on June 15, 1996. he is one of the two Seventeen members who appeared on Suchitwa so if you've seen all of the episodes, you may recognize him! he is also part of a sub unit called BooSeokSoon (BSS).

number 6 is Jeon Wonwoo and he is part of Hip Hop Unit. his birthday is July 17, 1996. if you've ever seen a clip of a hot guy eating a flower, it's him. my blind little bat.

the seventh eldest is Woozi, aka Lee Jihoon, and he is the leader of Vocal Unit. he is known to be the producer of the group just like Yoongi and is actually said to look similar to Yoongi. if you've seen clips of Yoongi and Woozi, you can actually see a similarity between them but they also look very different. he is the other Seventeen member who was a guest on Suchitwa. his birthday is November 22, 1996.

the eighth member is Dokyeom (DK), aka Lee Seokmin. he is part of Vocal Unit and i see him as the sunshine of the group (like hobi)! he is also part of BSS and is the leader. his birthday is February 18, 1997.

the ninth member is Kim Mingyu and he is part of Hip Hop Unit! i think he is the most well-known member of Seventeen (specifically for ARMY) because of his close friendship with Jungkook and he is the one who did the Super + Seven challenge with him! he also appeared on one of Jungkook's lives. his birthday is April 6, 1997.

the tenth member is The8, aka Xu Minghao (or Seo Myungho, his Korean name) and he is the other Chinese member of the group. He is part of Performance Unit and his birthday is November 7, 1997.

the eleventh member is Boo Seungkwan and he’s probably the most popular member of Seventeen because of how much he promoted the group through variety shows. he is part of Vocal Unit and is the last member of BSS. he was born on January 16, 1998.

the second to last member is Chwe Vernon (or Chwe Hansol, his Korean name) and he is the other Korean-American member. he was born in New York but moved to Korea when he was 5. he is the only wasian in the group, with his dad being Korean and mom being American. he is the youngest of Hip Hop Unit and his birthday is February 18, 1998.

lastly, the maknae of the group is Dino, aka Lee Chan. he is part of Performance Unit and he is the only member born in 1999. his birthday is February 11, 1999.

(this introduction is based on AGE order, NOT by designated number (for any CARATS reading). each Seventeen member has a designated number based on their age order but you’ll notice how Minghao (The8) is number 8 and Seokmin (DK) is number 10. this is because they swapped designated numbers because Minghao’s stage name is The8 (and he really likes the number 8 i’m guessing).)

and that is all of Seventeen! i realize that some members have longer introductions than others and i apologize for that. the members who have more prominent roles (e.g. a leader) or have more distinct characteristics (e.g. a foreign member) has made it easier for me to introduce them.

now for the explanation of the units and why Seventeen has 13 members rather than 17.

the group is split into three subgroups/units: Performance, Vocal, and Hip Hop.

Performance Unit consists of the main + lead dancers and the best BTS equivalent i can think of is 3J.

Vocal Unit consists of the main + lead vocalists which is equivalent to Bangtan’s vocal line.

Hip Hop Unit consists of the main + lead rappers which is equivalent to rap line.

to be honest, though, i’m not entirely sure if Seventeen ever divided main vs lead parts amongst the members because Hip Hop Unit mentioned in this interview (at 1:35) how they don’t have any main or lead rappers BUT that could be for Hip Hop Unit ONLY. the rest of the internet does divide them into main/leads but every website is different so i would take my words with a grain of salt bc everything i’ve heard is different.

now where does Seventeen come from when there are only 13 members? the simplest explanation is this: there are 13 members, 3 units, and 1 group.

13 + 3 + 1 = 17.

i think they were supposed to debut with 17 members (not entirely sure about this) but they kept adding + removing trainees and the most they ever had at once in the group was 16.

Diary - “Free will…y” 

August hasn’t been too good. I’ve been ill for about two weeks - and that meant I missed the Perseids weekend and all the plans I had to go with it. A few days ago, I started to feel better, but it feels like it’s lingering and threatening to come back already. This could be my first ever time of having C-19, something I've managed to avoid since the pandeemia began (I don’t like using those over typed/read/said words, so it’s pandeemia and a serial number instead). In the UK, typical summer weather started and ended in June. It’s been relatively cool (I sympathise with my mutuals and followers that don’t do well in hot weather - what a nightmare for you guys...), but, also, 95% of the days in here have been wall-to-wall rain. Not October cosy autumnal gloom type weather, but, endlessly getting soaked for all of July and August (until I got ill and stopped going out). Photography wise, I’ve taken very little this summer. 

Today I decided to go out on a walk for the first time since the 2nd of August. I headed to an easier-to-reach woodland that covers an entire hillside. The last few times I’d been through there, a mini pop-up village had appeared. Several caravans and converted vans with lots of colourful decals. A flower rack declaring ‘anarchy punk’ with the ‘A’ symbol caught my eye. Except for saying hi and briefly talking with an ultra polite punk girl back in July (she got embarrassed because she said “enjoy the rest of your morning” even though it was 3pm), I’d not got to meet these guys properly. Until today. Turns out, I knew two of them already from back in June when I met them at the local spring (where they were collecting drinking water). That particular day I met up with my friend Amber there, and she asked the one guy “Do you believe in free will?” to which he replied “Do you mean the one with the whale?” It was nice to make contact with this group properly today. The more I write about the surrounding area, the more it sounds like a JRPG. The negative of today? I feel my fitness level has gone down so quickly - perhaps I have long C-19? Perhaps it’s just an ever extending flu, but, my goodness, I physically lost power so quickly today - when compared to the seven-hour behemoth of a hike I did (across the border in the Welsh mountains) earlier this year. Something to keep an eye on, I guess.

However, the nickname doesn't seem to really be racist, so that's better than it could have been. Swarthy, as far as I'm aware, refers to tanned/weather beaten skin usually, which makes sense for a longtime sailor.

6/30/22 Update!

Well, hellooooooo beautiful people.

A year. More than a year even, since I last updated! I definitely owe everybody an explanation!!!

Shortly after the last update, I planned a mini hiatus of about a month and planned to be back in July 2021. However, at the end of last June, my family suffered a devastating fire, which caused the death of a relative and injuries to another. I had to take some time away from my job and wasn't thinking about my game either! Luckily, my relative that was injured is better now.

Then, I got COVID!!! I'm not immunocompromised, but very rarely get sick, so when I do, it comes down on me hard. I had to be hospitalized for around a month or so and I had to take it easy that next month. It honestly wasn't until February of this year that I felt like myself again, but luckily now I feel way better than I did back then.

I'm sure plenty of people will wonder why I didn't make a post like this in the moment, but I honestly didn't want to give out false hope when I had no idea what life would throw at me next LOL. But now that I am back, I'm confident that I can give 100% of myself to this project again, which WOW, I did not think people would miss it so much! All the posts here and on the forum made me so happy! Thanks for checking in on me!

Again, I apologize about my long absence and trust, the next time one comes around, I will definitely warn y'all beforehand.

Now, let's get to the fun stuff.

The number one question I'm sure is if the game is being canceled. DEFINITELY NOT. In fact, as soon as I started feeling about 90-95% again, I got back to work. I'm nearing the end of chapter 3 and the beginnings of chapter 4, which will be featuring a certain queen...

Of course, this means new timelines as well. The game's projected completion date is June 2024. Now, I'm actually shooting for June 2023 for the true completion date. So, about a year from now. However, if the game is ready before then, it will come out then. But the hard completion date is June 2024.

As for more recent timelines, my goal is to have a new update every month. My life/job has stabilized enough that I should be able to have content out every month. Some months might be more substantial than others, but content will come at least every month from now until the game is out (barring June of course, haha). So, the next update will be sometime next month...likely towards the end of it. Come with the first update will be the creation of a Discord. I've gotten many messages about if I'll ever make one, so here's your answer: YES.

Following July's update, in August I'll be opening up beta testing applications. Not too sure how many I'll take the first round, but don't fret if you're not chosen. I'll be taking many throughout the process until the game is out!

By December, I'd like to move the game into closed alpha, meaning I'll close the public demo (aka no password :wink:) and start working in earnest. I'll probably take more testing applicants at this point. The public demo will probably go to chapter 5 or 6 (don't forget the game will have at least 10-12 chapters, so that's nearly half the game!)

These are the dates/times I'm shooting for, but of course, if things happen quicker, great!

how did you calculate the adult trio's bday? 😮

Hi Anon! Thanks for asking me this question! I was actually hoping that someone would have asked me this and I’m glad it came sooner than I expected. Well to answer your question, it was mainly fun and easy to find Hisoka’s and Chrollo’s but a bit tricky with Illumi’s. I don’t fully trust what the anime gives us as numbers so I mainly relied on the manga. So to find out their birthdates I decided to first find solid concrete evidence of the year this was all taking place in.

Illumi and Hisoka partook in the 287th hunter exam with the main four which was back in 1999. I found the year thanks to chapter 146 where Killua exits Greed Island to apply for the hunter exam a second time and we see a sign hanging from a store building which gave us the exact year of when this was all occurring as well as the month and the day. According to the sign, the date is said to be December 29th, 1999.

The 287th hunter exam, just like any other hunter exams, starts on January 7th so the hunter exam arc all the way to Greed Island arc takes place in 1999.

Now that I had the year, all I had to do now was find the adult trio’s respective birth years.

How I found Hisoka’s birth year.

EDIT: okay so due to the fact that I made a slight mistake on Hisoka’s birthday, (I thought his actual age came from the databook when in reality his age was never mentioned in there) that meant I wasn’t actually able to find out his canonical birth year I’m so sorry I should’ve been more aware on the fact that his ‘birthday’ was just a fan theory and nothing more. This man is such a mystery even his own birthday is an enigma. I took off his supposed birth year from the list though so that should be better now.

Hisoka’s was the easiest of the three.

His full official birthday was already listed and placed with the main four’s birthdays so there was no need to search for his for very long. His birthday completely aligns with the main four’s birthdays as well (Leorio -> March 3 3/3, Kurapika -> April 4th 4/4, Gon -> May 5th 5/5, Hisoka -> June 6 6/6, Killua -> July 7th 7/7).

How I found Chrollo’s birth year.

Chrollo’s was actually pretty fun to find.

In chapter 95, he talks to Neon about her ability and gives her what she needs in order to activate her ability. He gave her his full name, birthday and blood type. When Neon finally saw his answers, she comments on how old he actually is when she saw that the man was 26 years old.

Since this scene took place in Yorknew City during September in the same year of 1999, I simply calculated his birth year thanks to his age (so all I pretty much had to do was do 1999 - 26 = 1973).

How I found Illumi’s birth year.

Illumi’s was a bit puzzling in the beginning but I did find it.

Unlike Chrollo’s (where his age has already been shown in the manga), Illumi’s age nor his birth year ever appears in the story. So I had to rely on another reliable source that could help me -> “The HxH Hunter Association Official Issue: Hunter’s Guide: Character & World Official Databook”. Thankfully, the book was able to give me his age which was 24 years old when he took the 287th hunter exam. So now all I had to do was calculate the year we first see him and what his age was at the time (1999 - 24 = 1975).

And there we go! I hope my explanation for each of them was easy to understand.

Voiceplay Visuals: If I Were A Rich Man/Girl

This video was released on the 24th of July, 2021, and is the first guest feature of the amazingly-talented miss Ashley Diane, as well as Cesar's first video as an actual Voiceplay member! I'm not entirely sure how much I'll actually have to say about this video, but there was no doubt in my mind about me making a post for it, so let's dive right in!

A few things right off the bat:

1. It's cool how the screen "opens up" at the start of the video; I believe Voiceplay did the same thing or something similar with In The Air Tonight iirc (and both videos end with the screen "closing back up" as well)

2. Definitely a bit more of a creative video format for Voiceplay, with the completely-white setting and the cuts between different shots of the vocalists - it's not got choreography or any overly-complex direction (probably), sure, but it's not exactly a "everyone stays standing or sitting in one spot" video either. Shoutout to Layne, who was in charge of this video as well as the arrangement!)

3. Oh my god Geoff is wearing a shirt that isn't just black, white, or blue! 😂 (listen, I make fun of him because I love him, but also you know I kinda sorta have a point!)

(Bonus note: Layne and Tony are credited with costuming in the description, so clearly there was in fact some deliberate thought put into everyone's outfits)

Okay but for real, everybody is styling in this video! (Also one could argue that technically Geoff has the most "simplistic" outfit overall in this video (which wouldn't be for the first time), but I shan't hold it against him)

Also, related to the first image and not the one above, but I'm pretty sure Eli is wearing the same hat he wore in Bang!

And that's the video! Certainly not a standard Voiceplay video, but frankly does VP even have a "standard" these days? Their music videos can be literally anything, near impossible to predict. Also, this is a killer arrangement from Layne, and one so dang complex that even though I've by and large mastered the lyrics, this is one of the few where I've been trying to memorise the arrangement, but there are bits I forget or can't replicate the right way (not that I can go as high as Ashley can (that freaking riff! girl!) and definitely not as low as Geoff, but y'know). Fun fact, I have just completed my first exchange ever and it's not up yet. My artist is currently doing their part and I think the final product goes up in March. I had previously joined two other exchanges and had to drop out for one reason or another.

One was a big bang - over 50K words needed and it was going to be due in December. I signed up in April, and started writing Just One Touch with the intention of that story being part of the big bang. However, after sign ups ended for that particular exchange, they didn't want people to start writing until June 1st. I think this was done with the intention of discouraging people to use old WIPs and finish them, but to start something fresh. They contacted me when I was tweeting about how far into writing Just One Touch I was and told me that I couldn't use that story for the exchange because I started writing it too early. They were really nice about it, no shade or anything, but it was incredible disheartening. So, instead, I just uploaded that story early.

The other I signed up as a pinch hitter and never ended up needing to write anything.

I'm currently in another exchange that won't come out until July and I just got my assignment (which I'm not allowed to share, but I'm VERY excited about) and am currently in planning stages before writing.

I like the camaraderie in exchanges. I like being in a gc or discord and the excitement of all doing something together, talking about fic, fandom, and art. I think that's really beautiful.

I don't like rules that are too restricting, though I certainly understand that rules are necessary. I think if the purpose of any exchange is to add to the lexicon of fic and art of a fandom, and for both the artists and writer to get exposure, then people shouldn't be discouraged when they are willing to put the fic together (or art).

I've helped run a few writing things with a small group of writers--we did a "spin the wheel" style prompt generator for omegaverse (which resulted in my fic To Keep Off Envy's Stinging) AND one for old and new fic tropes, which resulted in Shine Here To Us - my first dabble into mpreg. But those didn't have art associated. Oh!! And we did Bingo this summer where we generated bingo boards and had to write enough fics to get a bingo. I combined all mine into one fic, Some Other Beginning's End, which was a hoot.

For those, I like the challenge of being confined to a trope or something strict and permanent, but still finding a way to make it my own and put my spin on it.

I have a lot of respect for people who are brave enough to run an exchange and willing to use their time to answer questions and set up a discord, etc. I would say my personal experiences have been 95% positive. (but then again, I haven't even gotten to the end of a collection yet).

So, yeah- When Scott first meets Knives, and I'm not entirely sure how much time passes between then and when they start dating, it was *literally* her seventeenth birthday, as I am reminding myself reading back over these panels presently. And then at the start of book six, the first time we see (real, non-dream,) Knives, she has apparently been eighteen for a week!

Now, I'm going to preface with a little something before I go further into this: I am totally fine answering this ask and others like it I think! but, I will note, I do get like a (not fun) physical sensation in my chest- partly anxiety (lol) but also something else I think- thinking about them like 95% of the time- it's gotta be like. Handled The Right Way, if that makes sense. Let's get into it.

I think I've gone over my feelings a little bit in the discord as well, and there might even be more rp stuff relative to it, but I'm not going to go back and get any of that honestly- at least, not right now, or unless requested, since I don't really feel like it's necessary, if it does exist. This gives a pretty good glimpse in I'd say- especially that second to last one there.

So. Yeah.

Used to ship it; have expanded my horizons since then. I don't really want to knock it because like... for some people this is a legitimate life experience for them- one that might have even turned out well, miraculously. And there also a lot of minors in this fandom evidently, so like, any other baby gays out there just wanting to Project for a minute? I feel that. Sincerely I do. It's not the wisest choice but better to read fanfiction about it than go out and actually make out with a 23 year old, Gods forbid. (Genuinely felt sick thinking about that; fucking gross. There are too many freaks in this world- I promise you whoever you're thinking of probably isn't the magical exception.)

But there are definitely things to consider about them that are very interesting to me, still, so like. I'm in this weird state of conflict; I don't know if it's just me being like "it happened, you can't escape it" or having been desensitized/some sort of Brainwashed by how many times I had to use Knives in the game to quick heal- maybe something else but I just don't feel like flaying myself open like that unprompted for just anyone- but like. Oh man.

Sorry, gathering/writing this that feeling like went away but came circling back for this last bit, it seems. Which makes sense I guess. I feel like I'm setting myself up for a Pyre right now eugh shfsgkjfhjg

I dunno. I'm not gonna lie and pretend like I know it to be some big formative ship for me in my early teen years, but it was kind of important in finally coming around to realizing how queer I was, I think. My memories of the time are fuzzy, but it would have been one of the things- there were likely larger ones, my current obsession could be recoloring my past here so I'm trying to acknowledge that.

But there is like. A dynamic that is posited by them that is also one I'm a really big sucker for. More so now than I was then, so I find myself grinding my teeth about that a fair bit at times.

I definitely still really like it as something unrequited no matter what I think; I like the idea of Knives having a really big crush on Kim, genuinely. I think it's cute and funny as hell for how uncomfortable it would make Kim, who's just trying so hard not to be a fucking creep while this ray of sunshine hangs off her- something she absolutely does not deserve (in her eyes.)

I'm obviously more partial to Kim resisting any advances made at her, but I can understand so, so badly why someone might be attracted to the idea of Knives managing to thaw some of Kim's frigidity with that. Ugh.

If they work for me, I think they'd have to work for me after Knives is gone at college for a bit. Kim would need to know Knives for longer than she knew her as a minor- and they'd have to be FRIENDS in that time, quite strictly. Kim would need to not feel (intensely, because frankly, she would unavoidably feel this way at least a little no matter what,) like she was a fucking groomer going into it, basically. I don't know what I think past that.

You know, I'll put my feelings like this: with the exception of a fic I saw recommended to someone that intrigued me, I have managed to resist reading any/many fics featuring them, despite it being a large majority of the wlw Kim fics that exist, and also kinda just Kim fics generally. It's kind of Insane, especially considering how much Kimona SCREAM at you from the pages of the comic itself- but I digress....

I've been working on this for like over an hour now I think so I really should cut myself off. I am like,, too hungry and mildly stoned to be rambling off about this maybe. oh god. this is how I know you don't look at all my posts (which is fair) but basically. there's this website 8flix that has LOTS of tv and movie scripts, including some stranger things ones. so byler fandom LOVES analyzing the scripts, bc they include like stage directions, and characters inner thoughts and stuff sometimes, and we've gotten some nice wins out of that, ("will isn't looking at the cute girl, he's looking at mike" you will always be famous)

so midway through july the dear billy script was being given out to donors, and it had some interesting stuff in it, so everyone went nuts and wanted the rest of them, so it's then announced we'll be getting the papa script on august 1st, again, only to donors. cool.

And then, it gets pushed back, to august 5th, last friday, (I can't believe it's already been a week) so this guy (nick) is making cryptic tweets about 4 chimes eastern time or whatever, and we all pick up that the script will be getting emailed out at about 4 pm est, and he's also been interacting with bylers a lot specifically and hyping it up bc we make up like 95% of the donors, and it's already been decided that those who are paying will immediately screenshot the important bits and post them, so comes 4 o'clock, and we're all refreshing the byler tag like crazy, but it's not out immediately. and at first we're like, yeah ok, this guy has to send the emails, AND then people have to post screenshots, so we'll wait a bit.

but then it's been an hour.

and then two hours.

and then three.

next thing we know, comes the announcement that he's having technical difficulties, and it will be released on saturday instead. same time. so saturday comes.

here comes the announcement that YET AGAIN technical difficulties, he's going to work through the night, it will be emailed out sometime on sunday, but to hold us over, he posts a screenshot of a snippet of the van scene, which is what we all REALLY wanted to see. (the man knows his audience)

it includes the line "his [will's] own words cut deeply to the core. I hate who I am" as you can expect. sends the fandom into an ABSOLUTE frenzy. then, at like 6 in the morning, the full script drops, we spend all of sunday analyzing it to hell and back. we're finally happy. moments of peace.

then comes monday.

the twitter account for the stranger things writer's room says, and I quote, "PSA: any "leaked" season 4 scripts or script pages are FAKE. Do not pay anyone for scripts as this is a SCAM" (they also say that they'll start posting official script snippets of whatever we want to see)

so now we're all really confused? they didn't explicitly mention 8flix, but what else could they be referring to? #bylerscript has been trending on twitter for days now. but why didn't they mention it sooner? why didn't they say anything about pursuing legal action? why did people get copyright strikes for posting the 8flix scripts online? and 8flix looked legit? it's been running for years, it has thousands of scripts, and it's considered a valid resource for multiple ivy league film courses.

people are sending nick death threats, the mi|evens are laughing at us saying they knew it was a scam the whole time, all social media is a hellfire.

nick claims and continues to claim that if the scripts are fake, he didn't know it and also must've gotten fucked over by his source, I believe him, but his and 8flix's reputation is ruined now.

come wednesday. stranger writers twitter account runs a Twitter poll asking what we want to see. among the options is the van scene, we all vote for it, even though we think it's likely that they'll edit it before showing it to us, if there's even any evidence in there, and that option wins, we are now waiting for them to post it.

I think there’s a general fandom view that Brian, as much as he loved Anita, was afraid to truly commit her and he couldn’t keep it in his pants, which led to his fling in ~1999, but there’s more to the story—namely, Anita’s behavior as a partner. This isn’t meant to bash anyone, this is just a result of me reading various interviews and attempting to contextualize things, so please, folks, don’t take this post the wrong way or begin discourse. I just never saw anyone else really talk about this, so I decided to.

First of all, what initially interested me was that Brian said he was hesitant to get married again because he failed at the first one, but on the Howard Stern Show in 1993 (barf), he said he’d love to marry Anita, if she’d have him. That made me curious, because they wouldn’t marry until a full 8 years later. In a ‘95 interview, Anita said they hadn’t “gotten around to it” yet, so they did talk about marriage, but there would still be another 6 years after that until they finally did it. Why the wait, then? I know they had a lot of issues to work out, but still, that seems like a long time. I started reading around and coincidentally started talking about this subject with a friend and found some sources. In a 2011 Daily Mail interview, Anita said that she was about to walk away from Brian after he had the affair with Julie, but instead, she asked herself why she kept running away from commitment, then turned to him and said she was “ready” to get married. To me, that implied that she perhaps turned Brian’s suggestions to get married down before, or kept kicking it down the road, and it seems like this was, in fact, the case.

Going by various interviews, Anita was afraid of marriage (she said as much in the ‘95 interview), and considered it difficult for an actress always on the move to settle down. Her career always came first. This reminded me of this interview with Brian in ‘98, where he basically said Anita wasn’t living with him by that point because he couldn’t “live her life” and she couldn’t live his, which I always assumed had to do with their crazy career schedules. Even aside from their careers sometimes keeping them apart, she seemed to have trouble committing in general. In the Daily Mail interview in 2011, she revealed she was engaged 4 times before Brian. 4 times!!! That’s a lot! In the interview, she also said, “But it’s only when a man says ‘let’s get married’ that you realize it means having a family, stopping what you’re doing and making a commitment. If that happens when you’re not ready, you can’t go through with it.” Clearly, she wasn’t ready with any of the prior engagements.

Going back to that ‘98 interview, it’s evident that Brian and Anita’s relationship was in quite a bad place. In addition to implying they weren’t living together much anymore, he talked about how he couldn’t cope with being alone at night:

“I cling to things like, I’ll always make my bed when I get up, because I don’t want the feeling when I go to bed that no one’s been in there since morning. Strange things like that. I also leave the light on, so that when I go into the bedroom at night it doesn’t feel cold. It’s not as if I’m scared of the dark, but it’s an icy feeling which can grab your heart and say; ‘Nobody loves me. After all this time, here I am on my own.’”

Brian was feeling alone and unloved, and this was 1998, so we know he was genuinely not a well person at this time, since this was when he had to go away to a clinic to get help because he was so suicidal. His affair with Julie started in 1999 (I think), so not long after this incredibly difficult period. Look, he shouldn’t have done it. I’m not simping for infidelity. I’m just trying to contextualize things, and…idk, if I were madly in love with someone and they knew I wanted to marry them, but they still weren’t ready after +10 years together and were spending more and more time away from me…I can see why a very-unstable-Brian would be feeling hopeless about their relationship and turn to a years-long friend to get the kind of connection he seemingly wasn’t having with Anita anymore at that point in time, at least not regularly.

What’s even more interesting imo is Anita’s own words about the affair. She didn’t solely blame Brian. In that 2011 Daily Mail interview, she said:

“It takes two people to make a mess and two to make a good marriage. Face your mistakes. You can say ‘I love you’ but if one of you isn’t present because they’re working, what can the other one do? […] Do you want a home life? If you do, don’t you think it’s time you put a bit more in the pot? […] I wouldn’t be married today if it wasn’t for that affair. I needed to grow up and deal with the fact I was also responsible for our relationship.”

The bold text is my doing. To me, it sounds like she wasn’t meeting Brian halfway in their relationship at the time, and it took him going astray for her to realize that and take responsibility for it. It’s a pretty mature response tbh, and not one many would have in this situation (I’m including myself here lol). The fact that she says she wouldn’t have gotten married to Brian without the affair is wild to me, personally, but it’s very telling. It took almost losing Brian as a partner for a flame to be lit under her butt and to realize, “Oh shit, I contributed to this, too, and need to get my shit together and put effort into our relationship if I want it to work.” I also think it’s noteworthy that they got married pretty much instantly once Anita finally agreed. Of course, I’m sure Brian was simply super relieved to have her back instead of having her leave him, so he wasn’t going to turn down marrying her then, but still. As soon as she was ready, Brian made her Mrs. May.

tl;dr It appears that Brian and Anita had a lot of emotional baggage to work out and both contributed to rough times in their relationship. By her own admission, Anita wouldn’t have finally married Brian if she hadn’t almost lost him as a partner. It’s a Lot. I think Anita said marriage gave them much more security in their relationship, so at least they eventually worked things out.

Campbell Academy

Right, time for my confession. I did not come up with the floor plan or general design of the building. I usually suck at building and I don't like looking at official floorplans.

But I've recently discovered @anibats's Tumblr and YouTube channel, and her content is STUNNING. From the CC she uses to the machinima she makes, it's all so pretty!

I would highly recommend watching her The Vicious series she made - I won't lie, it made me bawl my eyes out, it was so tender and realistic.

I thrive off realism in both my series and playing the game itself. She opened my eyes to a few more mods and ways of playing a school without having to necessarily use Simlogical items.

And she also had some neat ideas for fixing crashing in game, and I must say, the fix that her partner did seems to be working in my game! 😀😘
