Thank you!!! So I'm working on developing two characters rn: Sybil Winchester & Historia 'Tori' Chen

(Sybil is in yellow, Historia is in purple. these are not their final designs, I'm playing around with several different looks for the pair of them)

(Note: I did another OC ask about a character named Sybil Winchester. This is a different character from the same story - I swapped their names around).

9. Do they swear? Do they remember their first swear word?

Sybil: She swears, but not often. She tends to be more passive aggressive or, shall we say, creative with her insults. If she does swear, it means something is wrong. She doesn't remember her first swear word, but the first time she swore was when she burnt her hand on a cup of tea and dropped it, breaking the cup.

Tori: Frequently. She'll usually drop at least one swear per day, usually when her conversation partner least expects it. She's also partial to expletives from bygone eras (She is a time traveler). Sybil keeps a book of the different phrases she's picked up on her travels, including the swears.

20. If they were asked to explain the difference between romantic and platonic or familial love, how would they do so?

Sybil: For Sybil, love is about the moments you spend together. Love is something created every time you hold hands, every time you dance, every time you bicker about something neither of you care about as an excuse to keep talking. The only family she really has is her niece, so familial love is mostly about the act of caring or being cared for. She makes friends easily and her feelings of platonic love stretch into her love for the world as a whole. This is the most important love for her. Platonic love is about appreciating people and the world. It's about constantly discovering the people you love and taking joy in the discovery. As for romantic love, Sybil isn't sure if she's ever experienced it and she's not sure if she wants to. But, as far as she can tell, romantic love is about honesty. The raw humiliation of being known and of knowing. Sybil knows a lot - she knows many things that she shouldn't. The idea of knowing another person as intimately as she knows her craft and, worse, the idea of someone knowing her like that, is something she finds rather off-putting. But, Sybil would never define these for someone else. She's smart enough to know that the differences and definitions are vague and mean something else for everyone. But she likes to keep her thoughts tidy, so making these distinctions is handy for her.

Tori: Unlike Sybil, Tori isn't as concerned with the specific meanings of words or with labeling her emotions. For her, love is just another choice that people make every day - sometimes a good choice, sometimes a bad one. The only real difference for her is how she expresses her love. With her students, she expresses her love with her mentor role. With Sybil, she expresses her love by being a little shit. And her relationship with her students vs Sybil is naturally VERY different. But if asked to define what makes the feeling at the core of those relationships different, she'd probably just ask why it's any of your business. It's the same feelings of care, of admiration, of devotion. But for one group it's expressed as a teacher and in the other it's expressed as a friend.

Hi there! A little new to tumblr and discovered ur blog and I love it! I’m sure you are super busy with the awesome monster kink write ups, but I was wondering if I could ask a question! (Sorry if this is in your FAQs/pinned, I couldn’t find it.)

But I was wondering how do you specifically get in the mood to write, how do you get over writers block, and any tips for someone struggling to get into writing? (Just realized that was 3 Qs…)

About 2-3 years ago I was a marvel wlw writer with a pretty decent following and got a surprising amount of attention, especially for my first story. I then got overwhelmed and started planning too many ideas and plots (aka kinktober kicked my ass). Eventually I decided to take a month long break that turned into years. During that time I wanted to jump back in but something kept holding me back. Now I feel genuine anxiety when I even think about writing, and I keep making excuses like “the lighting is off”, “it’s too late/early in the day”, “I’m too tired/hyper” etc. I really want to get back into writing (they have introduced soo many marvel ladies since I stopped, lookin at you yelena) but i just have this dumb mental block. A part of me is nervous bc I’m scared that my writing skills aren’t what they used to be, but eff it this is for fun and I’ve always been able to get over that fear. People keep saying “just write a sentence, get over yourself!” But I just can’t seem to do it.

ANYWAYS sorry about my self pitying life story, and feel free to ignore this lol. GOOD LUCK ON THE MARVEL MONSTER MASH!!

hi bubs! ur totally find, i've known a lot of people that struggle with this same thing and honestly i had a period for a while where i wasn't writing anything.

i think the one very important thing here is that if it makes you anxious, you don't have to write. don't put pressure on yourself to do it if you're not really ready.

but if you think you need to push yourself to get over the rut, start small. rather than going for a more 'formal' fic, maybe try throwing some headcanons around. make a lil bulleted outline of an idea u have rather than fleshing it out completely. i like using those as warmups when i have a block. it gets the inspiration juices flowing without the pressure of needing it to 'sound nice'.

and dont let burnout get to you. your brain is a muscle and resting it is important. if writing doesn't happen, it doesn't happen. but i also know how that's hella frustrating when it happens. i feel like you sound like you're in a place where u know your limits better, and that's honestly the best way to avoid that burnout again, by not taking on more than you can handle.

maybe your writing isn't what it used to be, but that's okay. you'll get there again. like i said, your brain is a muscle, and it might need to go back to the 5lb weights before it hits the big boys again.

and honestly most importantly: focus on what YOU want to write. even if it's not stuff that maybe you think other people will like, i always feel way more fulfilled when i spend time on stuff i love, like this monster celebration (even when it's hella work)

i hope this is at least a little helpful! i probably didn't say anything new, but i hope i can at least offer u the comfort of knowing this is absolutely something that a ton of writers including myself experience. and I've gotten thru it so i believe that u can too <3

tldr: on the offchance ur school does allow it go for it cus no one will care, but i highly suggest taking the opportunity to explore original IPs instead because it's hard to do outside of an education environment, esp if ur normally into fanart (like me)

ok heres the long reply: its gonna be based all lot off of ur schools rules! to be honest a lot of my work was original, the only classes i submitted fanart for were my digital animation class bc i 1. was at the point where i didnt give a fuck LOL and 2. the professor did not check in with us before we started so we could do whatever.... and the other class was for character design because it was a fanart assignment 0: most other times i acually did strive to do original work and focused mainly on three different IPs i have.

i did dress up as naruto on multiple occasions tho because the opportunity popped up! probably like 5 times lol

i think something (and this is based on school) that you will discover is that professors genuinely do not care how outragous your content is! if anything if it's super whack then it's more entertaining and ull have more fun w it. i animated the nyan neko sugar girl rabies bite and my teacher didnt bat an eye and also made an oc in chara design whos biggest trait was being obsessed w how good she looked and having the BIGGEST tits and ass as a part of her character and my teacher was like 'yeah but this boot is uneven? watch the curve on her bra, etc'. i even used her in some of my bg paintings later haha. so i would say more than making fanart just feel out the vibe of ur school, it's honestly a REALLY good time to explore original work because once ur out u can make whatever you want, or do original work for ur assignments and fanart for fun? which is what i tried to do! when ur in you get feedback from other students and teachers which is something that becomes a lot harder post graduation, so learning how to build up strong original stories is great and you'll come out with lovable characters that r dear to u! but also some/most? schools don't allow fanart, mine normally didn't except for that animation class n i'm sure it's only cus he didnt recognize the source material haha..

also people really will not care if it is allowed because EVERYONE else at art school also draws for fun and is going because they want to. like no one is forced to go into art school and normally have to fight their way in. people at my school KNEW me as the naruto person who loved sasuke lol like i got coined the title of hokage for like the second half of my time there.. so do not fear! if ur talking and making connections with ur fellow peers (which u should really try to do) then eventually youll be talking about similar interests and sharing social medias anyways and unless ur drawing like. REALLY weird/yikes stuff it's fine! one of my best friends is making a living off of explicit furry nsfw rn lol

hopefully this helps i think i tried to answer like 20 questions instead of just 1 but i think fanart is a good segway into just type of content to make for school! also try to avoid putting fanart in your portfolio if you can, or keep it in a separate section. I keep my nice quality fanart in mine but specifically labelled in a section called fanart so people can look at my original work because that's where its All My Brain, which ppl wanna see if that makes sense. Fanart is something where someone would look to see how you executed a piece just for draftsmanships sake but ig another reason to not do a lot of fanart is you won't come out with as many portfolio pieces you can use confidently? some recruiters dont care and some do so its best to just be safe

Pets:

I personally also love the idea of Adam getting attached to a specific cat he fed at his apartment, I think about that scene in the script all the time!! Honestly I've given a lot of thought to that and the way I see it playing out is that when he comes back to his apartment after the hospital (since he and Lawrence definitely don't live together right away), and the cat is still hanging around, almost like it was waiting for him to get back - and maybe it was - and he's just... he's lonely, he doesn't want to be alone anymore, not after what he went through, so he just kind of. Picks her up and is like "I don't know how I'm gonna do it but I'm gonna get you to a vet just to get you checked out and then you're staying with me." He brings her in that night and has a fairly easy time of it, considering she's grown to allow him quite close, letting him stroke her back or her head while she's eating; he smiles for the first time in what feels like forever when he brings a hand down to pet her again and she bumps it against his palm.

I like the idea of Lawrence coming over one night (maybe because Adam can't be alone, maybe because he himself can't be alone; regardless, he agrees to come see Adam) and noticing her (Adam names her Bug) when she jumps up onto Adam's ratty couch next to him after he sits down. I personally HC that Lawrence's family at least had a cat or two growing up, so it's not like he's never had one; it's just been a long time since he's socialized with one! But Bug is very friendly, and mostly she just kind of sniffs at him to check him out. She eventually settles herself in his lap after she seems to deem him safe, and when Adam comes back from the kitchen with two beers since that's all he has right now, his heart just kinda melts a little bit. He can't help it. Bug took a while to warm up to Adam, but it seems like maybe some attention was all she really needed.

After Lawrence asks about her and Adam tells him about her past, he asks if Adam's gotten her to the vet yet, just in case; upon getting a nervous little "No, I'm not sure how I'm gonna afford that yet" from Adam, Lawrence is the one to be like "Well, how about we bring her in, get her caught up on shots and such, and I'll cover it?" and of course Adam denies this vehemently at first, because he didn't say that to make Lawrence feel guilty, but Lawrence sees right through him + already knows this and so he argues right back that it's fine, it's no trouble, Bug clearly means a lot to him and he wants Adam to be happy, and well... that shuts Adam up, at least for a bit. Especially when he catches Lawrence scratching her around the ears a little, hears her purr.

He does try to pay Lawrence back later, though. It's just how he is.

Of course that means Bug goes with him when he eventually moves in with Lawrence, and she becomes their pet!! Diana LOVES her when she first gets to meet her, naturally, and Bug seems to love her too!! Honestly Bug is surprisingly patient, though Lawrence does make sure to kind of step in and tell her about what's okay and what might not be - especially because Diana is used to dogs, and there's a pretty big difference there. It's good though, and she plays with Bug as much as she can when she's over on the weekends! She's suuuper ecstatic about having a pet again.

As for pets Diana might want, honestly? She'd probably like another dog! In the first SAW there's a pic in Lawrence's wallet of Diana with a dog. My HC for that is that it was a sheltie Diana had named Lassie that they had to rehome due to Lawrence + Alison's work schedules at the time,, Diana has always wanted another pet after that so Bug is kind of like a godsend in that regard, but she's super fond of dogs. My heart is very drawn to the idea that Adam takes her to a shelter once (after an extensive talk with Lawrence beforehand, because again, Diana is only there every other weekend during the school year, so it'll be them taking care of the dog for the majority of the time; they both agree that it’d be good for her, though) and they look. They walk around for a bit before Diana darts over to a scruffy-looking mutt, a far cry from the pedigree dog she once had. The tag says his name is Benji (”Another ‘b’ name,” Diana tells him excitedly), he’s only a few years old, and he sniffs at her hand when she presents it. It takes Adam a moment to realize it, but when he does, he can hardly contain himself - Benji has three legs. You wouldn’t know it by the way he moves around, though! And Diana’s already made a connection with him...

And, well, they have the stuff necessary. That was something he and Lawrence had gone out and done prior to telling Diana they were getting a dog, just so they’d be prepared.

A quick call to Lawrence and it’s a done deal. Diana sits in the back with him, talking to him about how much he’s going to love it at their house, how he’ll get to meet Bug and Lawrence and how it’ll be so much fun, and Adam is up in the driver’s seat just like... wow. This is my little family. It’s something that felt so unattainable for Adam in the past, but like. A boyfriend, a kind-of-step-daughter, a cat and a dog. A house. He doesn’t cry or anything like that, but it’s just one of those things, y’know? It hits him a little. I know I talk about that a lot but for these two, it really is the little things like that.

Thankfully, he and Bug get along! That was something that both Lawrence and Adam were worried about, but it seems unfounded as the most they did was sniff at each other and then went back to what they were doing.

When Lawrence comes home, Benji is laying down on his new bed beside the couch, and so for a moment doesn’t realize there’s anything different about him - until the sound of the door opening + Diana’s excited greeting wake him up, and Lawrence is in the middle of saying “So this is the guy, huh?” when Benji kinda. Hops over to him in the way that he does, a way that Adam (and Diana!) are quickly growing fond of, and Lawrence pauses in the threshold. He doesn’t quite crouch down, because that can be a little hard for him, esp after he just got home from work, but he leans down as much as he can and just... has a moment? He pets Benji’s head for a good few minutes, earning a few kisses because that’s the kind of dog Benji is, and when he straightens up after hugging Diana, he just looks at Adam and smiles, and that’s all the confirmation he needs. The two of them end up being pretty close <3

Dream pets!! I agree with your tags on that one pic I reblogged that Adam would get one of those werewolf cats!! They're called Lykois and they're awesome!!! I don’t know when/if he would get one, but I love the idea of him having one!!! Esp bc they’re a breed that generally works well with others, so Bug and Benji would be fine! I feel like he’d let Lawrence or Diana name the cat if it didn’t already have one too. <33

You wouldn’t know it by looking at him, but Lawrence has always been fond of birds? He’s not sure he actively wants a pet bird, though, just that he likes them and thinks they’re neat. His grandma had one, a green ringneck parakeet, that he always thought was SO COOL growing up bc he talked and as a kid that’s so interesting!! He mostly appreciates them from afar, though; he’d hate to get a pet he couldn’t take care of.

Moments Lawrence realizes it’s not just him in this:

We’ve both touched on this before, I think, but Lawrence has a tendency to bottle things up, push them out of the forefront of his mind to deal with later, and I think this absolutely extends to asking for/receiving help for anything post-Bathroom. Part of it is that he feels he doesn’t deserve it (though Adam strongly disagrees), but another part of it is that he’s supposed to be better now, he got out, they won and Jigsaw lost, so why does he still find it hard to sleep at night? Why can’t he do the things he used to even with the prosthetic? And it takes a long time for him to realize that Adam isn’t just... there, he wants to help, even when things are ugly and gritty and not easy.

A big one is helping him care for the stump where they’d had to amputate a bit more up his leg. I think at first that’s something he carries a lot of shame over, not being able to move around as easily/without help, ESP for those first few months - and it’s not something that really goes away after he’s fitted with + given a proper prosthetic and received a cane. I think the first time Adam assists him in washing the stump is one of the first times it really hits him that he’s not alone in this; it’s something he typically does on his own, with the door shut so no one has to see, but his hands are shaking so badly and he’d had a long day and so after a good ten minutes Adam gently opens the door, because he knew that’s what Lawrence was in there for + it’d been a while, and he just sees him sitting on the edge of the tub, slacks in a heap off to the side because it’s easier than folding the pantleg up, hands folded in his lap and head bowed, whole body trembling and skin pale, and he just mumbles, “I can’t do it. I can’t.”

Adam doesn’t turn away. He doesn’t think it’s disgusting, doesn’t see it as something he should be afraid of or abhor; in fact, he sits down on the floor at Lawrence’s feet where he’s already got the basin with warm water ready, takes one of the special, soft washcloths that are only ever used for this purpose, and makes sure there’s enough soap on it before he sets to work. His touch is careful, gentle, and completely unhesitant, and Lawrence’s fingers go white-knuckled where they’re gripping the edge of the tub, and his shoulders are heaving because he is trying so hard not to cry but he can’t help it. If Adam notices, he doesn’t say anything, at least at first - but once he’s done + has patted it dry as carefully as he possibly can, he kisses the flesh there, just once, and Lawrence breaks down. He has to carefully help Lawrence move off of the edge of the tub so he won’t fall, and Lawrence’s head drops to his shoulder and he cries, harder than he has in a long time, unable to do anything other than feel. The fact that Adam holds him through it, tells him it’s okay, he loves him, it’s alright, is something that hits Lawrence all at once. Adam didn’t have to do that, but he did it anyway, he did it because he wanted to. That’s huge for Lawrence.

Another one I think about is the first time Lawrence gathers up the courage to wake Adam up after he’s had a horrible nightmare. As we’ve both mentioned before, he hates feeling like he’s burdening Adam with these things, knows he gets just as little sleep and hates to disrupt it when Adam actually gets some decent rest, but Adam has told him that he wants to be woken up, he wants to be there for him like Lawrence is when he needs it. This would probably happen after that first time he follows Lawrence into his office post-nightmare and consoles him, so it’s like... the next biggest step, in a way. It’s the first time he actively seeks out that sort of comfort, which is a good amount of progress made.

Lawrence doesn’t exactly wake up screaming but it’s a near thing, chest heaving and shoulders hunched up around his ears because jesus christ that was way too vivid, his heart is threatening to beat right out of his chest, and he absolutely cannot be awake on his own right now. Neither of them are deep sleepers anymore, so it’s fairly easy to wake Adam up, but as soon as he does Lawrence just kind of... freezes, because what does he say? He doesn’t really want to talk about what it is that he saw, but doesn’t Adam deserve a reason for being woken up like that? So he’s just sitting there as Adam sits himself up, mouth opening and closing because what does he say, but it’s okay that he can’t talk. Adam doesn’t mind. He just places his hands very gently on Lawrence’s cheeks (he’s crying, he realizes then), presses his forehead to Lawrence’s, and holds him there. He moves one of Lawrence’s hands to his chest so he can feel his heartbeat and every breath he takes, because he knows that’s what helps.

He doesn’t make Lawrence explain, doesn’t try to get him to stop crying, just holds him through it while he lets himself be upset in a way that he’d been suppressing for so long in the care of someone who loves him. Eventually, staying close like this, Lawrence slowly stops sobbing; his breaths even out, his eyes slip closed, he’s okay. For now, he’s okay. And Adam just kind of pulls him close, manages to lay them both down with Lawrence’s head on his chest just so he can still hear his heart, and for the first time, it kind of hits Lawrence that he feels like he can go back to sleep. He’s never felt like that post-nightmare, too worked up to get himself to relax enough to do so, and again, it hits him that he is not alone in this. Adam wants to be woken up, wants to hold him while he cries, wants to be there. After that, it’s easier for him to seek out comfort like that, to ask for help, because he’s kind of got undeniable proof now, doesn’t he?

There are smaller things too, like when they need to park somewhere and they just can’t find a spot, and there’s a parking garage nearby that’s sure to have a space open - but Lawrence can’t do that. He can’t. He doesn’t even do that at work anymore. And instead of being frustrated, Adam’s just like “It’s fine, we’ll find a spot eventually, don’t worry about it,” and Lar’s just like Huh. He’s Not Upset. He Could Be But He Isn’t. It’s still something that blows him away, sometimes. He ends up with a hand on Adam’s knee, a silent way to say thank you for understanding. Adam just smiles back, and Lawrence knows that he’s been heard.

Another one (+ one we’ve both touched on!) is during the times where Lawrence has holed up in his office after a rough day because he’s got paperwork to do and he needs some kind of distraction, but in doing that he’s thrown himself into a distressing loop of I’m keeping myself away from my partner, this is what I did before and look at how that affected Alison, what am I doing, while furiously trying to focus on the paperwork he wants so badly to take him away from confronting his emotions right that second - but then Adam pops in with a snack and a water bottle, just like “Hey, I know it’s been hard today, but I brought you some stuff. I’m gonna go chill over here but you can keep doing what you’re doing,” and it’s just like... that level of understanding. Knowing Adam is there, that he doesn’t resent Lawrence for doing this, making it known that he’s there when Lar’s ready to talk? Oof. He finds it a lot easier to work through it like that.

Eventually he’s even able to allow Adam to draw him away if he senses that Lawrence is frustrating himself too much, and it’s just like. That’s progress!! That’s good + healthy!! And it’s things like this that tell Lawrence he’s seen, he’s heard, he’s trying his best and it’s recognized. He’s not alone, just as Adam isn’t. They’re there for each other. It’s okay that he still struggles. They both do, even if it’s in different ways, and that’s okay. Just!!! I think abt this a lot!!!

A: How did you come up with the title to (a) time to kill?

great q, thanks for asking. well the series and all its parts are named for lyrics from turn! turn! turn! (to everything there is a season) which is a great song, and also a great title, and also just very lyrically rich. when i was writing the second part, i had most of the third part in my head but hadnt written even a single note down. (partly cos i wanted to see all of s3 first, to be able to react to any strange new plots or changing dynamics.) and i was just thinking through the lyrics trying to work out what would be a good title, preferably in line with the other two, and then i realised a. duh and b. it actually doesnt need to in the same format you can put the brackets riiiight there, and then a spent a lot of time cackling to myself.

bc i love their stories and their writing, and bc (although they write very differently) the number one reason for all 3 is their beth characterisation.

i increasingly kind of feel like rio characterisation is actually easier in a lot of ways bc he’s more of a blank slate that you can project onto, whereas we know a lot more abt beth AND it can be hard to pull all those strands into a coherent picture. i like the way that they all write her as...pointy! but like... not without care? and i always find their characterisations of her extremely believable, as well as detailed.

I’ll start with this since it’s the shortest!

This may come off as totally random but I do better in colder climate than hotter ones -- even though I currently live in a tropical island 

I used to live in the US!

I actually have a designated place where I go to sit, open up my laptop and answer asks from tumblr. I sit outside my little patio and stare out at my garden, and then answer qs from here!

This means I’m always subjected to the Wild Life coming at me unexpectedly sometimes, but my cat also visits me at my table! So it balances out! 

My favourite drink is milk but I like plant-based ones, or rice milk? Or the lactose free ones! They’re delicious! 

Cherries are my favourite snacks but I usually get them once every 3 months -- so the result is I don’t tend to snack often. This is by design of me trying to Not Snack + using my pickiness to weaponize against myself and my eating habits.

To unwind I watch cat/animal videos on youtube before I go to sleep - it’s not very effective because I have to keep my eyes open to see, plus I always end up making cooing noises at the screen -- so I’m not sure when if it’s actually making me sleepy or not. But it’s working so far so I’m continuing to do it.

I have very specific knowledge of certain things in very acute details + link/resources of further studies on the topic, but otherwise I have 0.5 braincells most of the time, just a lot of Forbidden Knowledge.

Love life?

I am currently single! 💕💓❤️ Gf application is always open! 💕💓❤️ However, I’d like everyone of you to know I’m a 95 liner and I will not accept applications from those born after 98′ 💕💓❤️

Although I’m bi + had ex-bf before... I am (as of right now) on the fence about men personally in my personal life (disclaimer) because I’ve got a week of quarantine, thus I haven’t been doing the do and can think clearly for once. I am contemplating. Men. And the necessity in life. Y know? 

Although my love life is free!! I am not excused from the occasional panic of having a crush (annually). I’m lucky enough to go through it just once every year, but every time it happens I am an absolutely clown + always in turmoil. It’s what happens when you’re a sag venus who can’t control your p***y brain. Luckily, my crush just have to insult me or make me explain things from my past and then I’d be too traumatize to crush on them again. It’s quite effective, and works out best for all of us! 💕💓❤️

Oof that’s alot.. This might be better to outline in a timeline format... so leo/libra, scorpio/sag, libra/aries and partially virgo/sag are whom I grew up for the majority of my childhood-teenage life! 💕💓❤️ 

They obviously made a very big impact on me! 💕💓❤️ They’re with me through thick/thin, leo/libra (sag rising) is the extrovert of the bunch. He’s one of my best friends, close guy friend, most of the time I too find him a little exasperating because he’s.. well its his problem so nevermind, but he’s also very endearing! 💕💓❤️ If it wasn’t for him-- well, there’s also another leo I thought was very endearing in a little brother kind of way. So leos to me have a very positive influence in my life, they’re very cute especially when they ask for your attention. I think they are like puppies/kitties when they are needy, and their blatant way of just being themselves always makes me feel refreshed + I  admire them for it. In the end, I’m totally heart-eyes endeared for Leos! 💕💓❤️

Scorpio/sag is also my best friend! 💕💓❤️ She’s a taurus rising, and she’s so sweet, kind, chatty and very open/friendly to people! 💕💓❤️ Her, my cousin (who’s also a scorpio but a scorpio/pisces), and quite a few of my other best friends who are scorpios - actually made me realize they’re not like what they’re usually describe as. Maybe that’s just me? But I think they’re very sweet and comforting to be around, not to mention they’re quite supportive and willing to listen when you’re having a tough time with something!! 💕💓❤️The pillar of support and one of the few rare people I don’t mind interacting with (actually crave interacting with them) because of just how chill they are, I wish more people recognize that in a scorpio! 💕💓❤️

Libra/Aries is one of my longest childhood friend, probably from birth! 💕💓❤️ He’s a supportive big brother type figure. But he can be very silly and he doesn’t hold himself so seriously most of the time! 💕💓❤️ Whilst he’s very understanding and quite nosy with others, he tries to be subtle/sleek but he isn’t! I think he’s very endearing when he wants to be, and he deserves someone who loves him lots as well 💕💓❤️ We reunited for the first time in 6 years the other day? And I think we both ended up crying a little and holding hands because we miss each other alot! 💕💓❤️ It was very nice, I think he’s much more emotional (just suppressed) than what people realize! 💕💓❤️ He’s very caring though - like willing to talk you through your problems and make sure you’re taken care of, back on your feet, but also willing to smile scarily at people who’ve hurt you and actually take them to court/yell at them for you. I think its very sweet! 💕💓❤️

Virgo/Sag is someone I hung out with for a short period of time, but kept in contact with periodically throughout my life because we ended up going through similar majors/path in life! 💕💓❤️ She’s someone who’s very caring, wants to take care of you, when she’s endeared by you she makes sure to dote on you often! 💕💓❤️ Actually, she’s born a day after Namjoon I think? But that’s not the point, the thing is - she’s my virgo/sag and when she’s not by my virgo/sag she’s super cool and I can see that many of our friend respects her/think she’s very mature + she’s the Shit! 💕💓❤️ I really admire her too and I think she’s super cool, but more than that, I love how caring and tender she is. She’s the best 💕💓❤️

These are the people I grew up with, and then I went to college and met/lived with Scorpio/Cap + Pisces/Scorpio+Aqua. 

Scorpio/Cap and I actually hit it off since the first day? We were in orientation, and we’re both talkative I guess! But in similar ways. He appreciates my bluntness/sense of humour and I like that he’s sarcastic and the only one engaging enough to be around/paying attention to what’s happening. We went to a house party together and then had 1 class together the semester. After that, me and him decided we’d live together off campus (along with our other friend who fell through, I think he’s a Leo?) - whilst we lived together we share majors in the same division, on holidays or at night after class, we’d grab dinner together + walk there, or we’d eat at home and binge watch a marathon he’d pick together. 💕💓❤️ It’s really fun! 💕💓❤️ 

Both of us like cooking, so he’d make dishes/drinks and I’d do that and we’d coerced each other to hang out in the living space together. Basically, we’re there to force each other to socialize/hang out with people and also encourage each other. It’s very fun! But we also had moments where we’d buy each other dinner/go to art galleries/exhibit together. There’s more serious too of course, like talking about our problems or worrying about stuff. But I think I found someone who looks out for me/I can look out for him, be confidants for each other and not be embarrassed with each other. Besides this, he also found my p0rn collection and suddenly mentioned it when we’re on campus so now I can never unfriend him because he has blackmail material on me. I’m forced to be his friends forever now. 

Pisces/Cap and Pisces/Aqua are my roommates after Scorpio/Cap - actually, Pisces/cap invited me to live with them when I was finding a place, it was very fortunate! 💕💓❤️ We’re all close friends because we live in the same hall during first year, plus me and Pisces/cap (and a Gemini friend) would get drunk + go to parties together so!! This is very convenient! 💕💓❤️

Actually.. Pisces/cap, me and Gemini friend.. I went with Gemini friend to buy his apartment with him (along with his friends, I’m good friends with them too) and Pisces/cap went with him to buy furnitures lmao! 💕💓❤️ And then me and Pisces/cap moved in together, although I didn’t room with them. I roomed with Pisces/Aqua whom till this date is my favourite roommate I’ve ever lived with! 💕💓❤️

It’s a little messy with Pisces/Cap but not in a? bad way? at all? Like we’re close friends who still talk often, but they did confess once over the holidays, and I turned them down (that was when I was about to move in) - we did make out along with pisces/aqua but like.. that’s... I guess that’s normal for college y know? We did a couple projects together for their class, like a comic about me and gemini friend, poems, photography, I drew them something. And I think they did have something with Gemini friend as well but! Gemini friend moved away on the last year so it never went anywhere there. 

But these are all good memories we had together and it’s not like-- bad at all, I don’t ever think badly at them for it because it was honest to them/for them, it was their emotions and tenderness from the heart? I can’t ever look down on anyone for that or judge them for being true to themselves, I actually think they’re very brave to be able to heal themselves and process things especially involving emotions like that. I also think these are all precious and honest memories, being friends with them definitely helped me grow my EQ by so much. Without them, I’d be very close-minded today! 💕💓❤️ 

Pisces/aqua is my roommate for a long time, and I love them to bits too! 💕💓❤️ They have two cats, both I love so so much and would sacrifice getting up for very often! 💕💓❤️ More than that, Pisces/aqua is so smart and able to pick things up immediately! It’s honestly very admirable, how they pierce things together. Whether it’s tarot or astrology, they’re the one who got me into this actually? 💕💓❤️ It was their interest before it became mine through proxy or maybe osmosis lmao, but they’re quite judgey and sometimes have a ? idk, superiority complex/elitist attitude towards stuff sometimes? So I never really talked about it much with them because it can get really frustrating sometimes 💕💓❤️ I do love them lots though, I can be ignorant of a lot of things and really slow on the uptake, but they’re very nice and kind and patient with me - honestly they’re as patient as a saint sometimes with me. And I’m really really thankful to them for it! 💕💓❤️ They’re getting married this year to a Scorpio! 💕💓❤️

Taurus/taurus and Cancer/cancer are my college best friends. Actually we hang out outside of class too! 💕💓❤️ I celebrated cancer/cancer’s birthday with them and their friends/roommates and it’s really fun. Heres why it’s -- like, momentous. It’s because my college classmates are more like colleagues or co-workers, so we don’t usually have that kind of camaraderie outside of first year. Plus, we’re all kind of working or busy with our private life outside of class - so it’s hard to reconvene that with who you know in classrooms. 

They like their private life separated from the college one, which is what I prefer as well. I really adore them though, since we have a major that usually makes us get little to no sleep and have to stay at school at night-till morning most nights (for programs on the computer or printing facilities, rip) -- they’re the one who would either stay up with me, working together at the same table and we can ask each other for fresh eyes on our work. Or they’d motivate me to go home and not be stupid to stay at school. Or they’d drive me home so they know I get back safely/on time. It’s just -- I adore them so much they’re very very good! 💕💓❤️

Taurus/Taurus is also a college best friend whom I befriended later on in the years, they’re really sweet! 💕💓❤️ We have more of a friendship where we spend time outside together, walking in the city trying out a new cake store or just going back to their place to play games or talk about what else we have going on in our lives. They’re really busy!! Since they’re involved in church activities, they travel to another town an hour away every sunday - their dedication to their work, school and church (AND spending time with their fiance’s family + fiance) is amazing! 💕💓❤️ They also got me my first job at the firm they’re working in, in our last years - I made sure they’re not too tired and get their work done on time so they don’t rush their finished project. Or give better advice if the teacher is making them fume. I really like them lots too, we had alot of fun together AND they’re a foodie! 💕💓❤️

There’s another Libra/Aries whom I knew from college, while I was still living with Scorpio/Cap - I was in another town/not the same town as the Pisces back then. But Libra/Aries was close and she’d come by often! We’d travel the city together, lay on the lawn, go to parks together or exhibit. They’re very proactive and we spend a lot of time talking about work and projects, personal interests, when we watch movies together - we’d spend time sitting in cafes after watching them to talk for hours/until closing about the movie ( ‘we have alot to unpack’) -- they’re a lot of fun to talk to because they’re just as intense about stuff! 💕💓❤️ And their interest is genuine, give good hugs, a little too loud for our cats but she means well! 💕💓❤️ 

This is brief recount of everyone, mostly focusing on activities we did together but knowing them as people obviously made a big impression on me! 💕💓❤️ 

Leo/Caps are people I met since I finished college/working now, they’re my two admins on the blog actually! 💕💓❤️So internet friends, but I really click with and they’re soothing + fun to be around when I’m home/anywhere! 💕💓❤️ 

Sag/Taurus is also another internet friend, I’ve known her for a year now? But man, every conversation is an adventure and she’s so fun to be around! 💕💓❤️ Also very sweet and an extremely kind person, in a fire sign kind of way. I do have friends from work... but well we’re not close enough for me to actually consider them good friends/talk about them personally? They’re nice! why dont i think it’s popular? cause grif/simmons is so big [love that too] and donut hardly ever gets screen time, let alone full conversations with other characters, so people dont often consider his chemistry with others :( 

i’d rate them a 7-8 bc i adore them but they need more interactions both in canon and fanon, and i want grif to express fondness for donut even if it’s barely there and he tries to pretend he doesnt care ;p

fave headcanon: i think they’d be lazy together a lot. sure, donut probably still wants to do things more often than grif does, but like, remember that one sceen during bgc when someone (i think sarge /caboose?maybe simmons was still there? idk) was listening to a transmission but couldnt really hear who was talking, and all they heard was “man, this sucks.” “is that church??” “i just wanna lay around and do NOTHING” “no way it’s definitely grif” “right after i take a nice warm bubble bath :D” “Donut.”, like u could even use this as grurchnut (cause im also a grif/church fan lowkey kdfjds) donut’s lazy and cranky, he could vibe w/lazy cranky boys.and ALSO donut had that one weird diet fad where he only ate foods that started w/vowels and he was like “for breakfast i had eggs and oreos. for lunch i had asparagus... and oreos!” and grif said that’s what he does too except minus eggs and he doesnt know what asparagus ismy point is they’d laze around and eat snacks together. donut probably has him do wine and cheese... and oreos...

A giffing tutorial would be great! I'm not at home atm and its been a while since i tried giffing so i dont have any specific qs to ask yet but i think i struggled with how to put them into frames? I think they sometimes froze and wouldnt move haha but yeah thx for much for the links and advice! I also rly struggled with finding good basic tuts so thats why i came to ask ^^

fkdsjlfds alright!!! hopefully this is able to help u guys i know im not the best at explaining this but hopefully this will give you an idea :-) im going to do it using only photoshop (no kmplayer/vlc or any other software) and i use photoshop cs5 so depending on what version u have things might look a little different but it’ll be the same concepts!! anyway here’s a crash course in making a gif for the first time

1. get the video!! 

this seems like a simple step i know but if u wanna just use photoshop and not any other software as well it’s a LOT easier if you download a shortened clip of the gif! usually i download clips between 3-10 seconds long in order to make sure i get the whole scene i want. the two best websites to trim and download into an mp4 in one step are clipconverter and video-download, they both work for youtube videos and vlive and a lot of major video websites! and of course downloading the highest quality of video available (preferably 1080p or 720p) will make your gifs look nicer

2. importing it into photoshop

file > import > video frames to layers ! i believe u need quicktime installed for this to work properly!

since your clip is already pretty short, you should be ok by just keeping it from beginning to end! if for some reason you were unable to shorten it or if you want to shorten it even more, you can select the range. dont limit the frames though! it will make the gif look choppy and less fluid!

3. adjust frames/timing

you should now see all of your frames in the animation bar at the bottom (if u dont see an animation bar go to window > animation and make sure its checked) and all of the frames as their own layers off to the right! on some part of the animation toolbar you should see something that looks like this:

when you click on the four lines with the arrow, you should see a list of options! play through the frames you have and determine if you need to delete any of them at the beginning or end and u can do so by selecting the frames u wanna delete and under those options select delete frames. once u have just the frames you want for the gif, select all frames and then on any frame click on that 0.04 with the arrow and for the delay, select “Other” and put in 0.05s (or whatever value u want but usually 0.05s looks the best once you save it!)

4. cropping

you can adjust the cropping size options at the top (it will look Something like this but it’ll depend on your version of photoshop!)

the width dimensions for tumblr are 540px for one gif, 268px 268px for two gifs next to each other and i Believe 177px 178px 177px for three gifs next to each other! so here i’ll assume i’m doing a 268px width gif and you can set the height to whatever you’d like. if you set the resolution to 1px/cm like it shows right there, it’ll automatically crop and resize the gif for you!

so at this point with the cropping and timing it’ll look something like this:

5. convert to smart object + sharpening

this might be where u had a problem with the frames freezing? so first using that menu in the animation toolbar convert to timeline animation! then, after this, select all of your layers on the righthand side and then right click convert to smart object!

after u convevrt to smart object it should only show as one layer! u should still be able to preview and play through the gif, if it’s frozen then u messed something up with the timeline animation part! so to sharpen here were the settings i used to use:

filter > sharpen > smart sharpen

a lot of people use 500% and 0.3px … personally i never liked that but its up to u to play around with it!!

here’s what the gif looks like after this:

if you compare this to the one above this one looks much nicer!

6. coloring

ok honestly i dont even Know enough to give u a coloring tutorial but that’s pretty much the only step remaining for ur basic gifmaking! honestly a lot of the time i only use brightness/contrast and color balance unless im trying to make a compilation set where everything looks super different but it’s mostly up to u to try different things out and see what looks good :-) or! you can find psds online where other people have shared their coloring settings!

7. saving settings

honestly the only important thing is that ur gif Has to be under 3 mb or it won’t play right on tumblr! other than that u dont really have to worry about anything here as long as your settings look something like this

and then ur done! u have a gif! :-D

i know i use a lot of words fdmsfds but trust me once you’re able to get through it once you’ll be able to go through the whole process in minutes!! and there are lots of other ways to go about these methods as well (tbh i dont even really do this anymore) but this is a good starting point and as u can see the gifs look pretty nice (in my . humble opinion)

i feel like this will be moreso venting/rambling than ranting but um anyway

something that's been on my mind is how society gives us the when timeline of how our lives should go. go to school, graduate HS, go to uni, graduate, get a job. And honestly I wouldnt feel so bad about that if it wasn't all so rushed. I'm supposed to know what I want to do with my life by the time I enter college? When it seems a lot of schools barely help you explore the many different options there are?

And what sucks is that I did have a few ideas of what i wanted to do. but a combination of low self-confidence and being encouraged to pursue more realistic, "practical" careers deterred me from them. i wanted to be a fashion designer as a kid/teen. I loved drawing and designing clothes. I wanted to join a fashion camp where they taught you how to make your designs a reality. but i didnt feel like that dream was really supported? my mom was probably the main supporter of that dream and even encouraged me to design something for her and she'd take it to a tailor to have it made. but after she passed away I lost that support and pretty much any aspiration for anything. I dropped the fashion designer idea (school/homework made me lose time to do art anyway, so I lost touch with it). math was one of my favorite subjects so i slowly came to the idea of being a math teacher. this was wholeheartedly encouraged by my family so that's what I stuck with, even tho I wasnt really sure that's what i wanted to do. it was something I could tolerate the thought of

One thing I had been interested in was language/linguistics. I think i would have majored in it for college but I wasnt sure what I wanted to do with it or what I could do with it, plus my aunt thought that was silly since I already wanted to do math 🙃

Anyway fast forward to senior year of uni, I've literally gone through 7+ semesters on the math education program but at the end of my fall semester, I quit. (I still graduated on time, just under a different math degree program) I had been a student teacher for about 2 semesters and by the end of the second one I just decided that wasnt what I wanted to do. I didnt feel comfortable being in front of the classroom and I wasnt passionate enough about being a teacher to stick through until it became comfortable.

I had to reflect and think about whether or not I really wanted to go through something I merely tolerated, mostly because I knew it was something my family wanted for me. so I called my dad up and talked to him, telling him I never felt like I was ready to go into teaching (part of me wants to, but I dont feel like now is the time)

still, I feel like the only reason he was receptive is because I had another idea in mind. I've been looking into computational linguistics programs bc it's something I think captures a lot of my interests, and I'd be interested working in that field.

but I kind of wish I had someone sit down and talk to me about my options and what my goals were before I found myself with one semester left of college, having a breakdown over how I spent my last 3 and a half years and where the rest of my life was headed

anyway I'm still trying to figure out life and I'm not 100% confident in anything but I'm trying to be patient with myself, and find something that makes me happy and something I can proudly tell my family I want to pursue

I could ramble more but this has gotten a lot longer than I thought it would lolll

1.How old were you when you read the Percy Jackson books?

I was 11 when I first started reading them 😂 I was a tiny bby

2.What year did you read them in?

Does this mean academic year or actual year? Because I read them in year 7 (6th Grade) so that would have been in somewhere around 2010 I think???

3. What caused you to read them?

My older brother had read them and recommended The Lightning Thief to me and a selection of books were being given out at my school for free to encourage kids to read and The Lightning Thief happened to be one of them. And the rest is history 😂

4.Which of the series have you read in the PJO universe?

All of them~ I have read every book in the PJO, HoO, KC, and MCGA series and I’ve just preordered The Dark Prophecy at my local book store so I can keep up to date with ToA. I’ve also read all the side books like Demigod Diaries and Demigods and Magicians, and the two books of Professor Percy and they’re all aligned in chronological order on my book shelve because I’m a fucking nerd OTL

5. What is your favorite series in the PJO universe?

Oh god help me. I don’t know??? I love them all for different reasons??? I find myself ranting most to other people about HoO but the Magnus Chase series is probably my favourite because not only is it a wonderful story but The Hammer of Thor was the first time I had ever read about a genderfluid character and the way Alex was portrayed was just so wonderful to me that I will reread that book over and over again, specifically on his pages because it’s kinda like seeing a little bit of myself in my favourite world. It heightens my sense of escapism and belonging there that’s for sure XD

6.Who is your favorite character?

Overall?? Either Zeus (because he was the world’s first fuckboi) or Bianca Di Angelo. As an older sibling, I could never imagine leaving my younger sibling all alone just because I wanted a bit more freedom in my life. It’s incredibly selfish and I just can’t ever forgive her for it. She may have been a hero and an interesting character and I was really torn up when she died but I will never forgive her for the way she treated her younger brother.

8.What are your headcanons?

THERE ARE TOO MANY TO LIST!!! But one of my main headcanons that I will list here (I’ll message you others if you ever read the whole universe) is that Nico and Anubis know each other and get along. Now this started because they’re described as looking very similar to each other (black, shaggy hair, dark brown eyes, pale af with a similar fashion sense of just black on black) and it kind of snowballed once I read Son Of Neptune. Because to me, it would make so much sense for Nico to know about other pantheons long before the other demigods. Why? Because Death is universal across mythology. And Nico, as the son of Hades, needs to know about his death rituals which- I think- would lead him to researching the other pantheons and learning that immortality really is forever. But yeah, i just love the idea of Nico and Anubis being friends and looking out for one another because they both understand the stigma around death but they’re both actually kind of dorky the minute they stop being angry??? But yeah, there’s just one of my headcanons and look how long that took to summarise OtL

I try to OTL it’s just, with characters i love and adore so much I’m so scared of doing them a disservice??? If that makes sense? I’ve got a thousand scenarios in my head but when I try to write I end up starting at a blank screen for 30 minutes before going back and rereading the books again XD

11.What’s your favorite scene?

From PJO- When Percy offers Pandora’s Pithos to Hestia as an offering. It’s just such an important act at the time and I just love it so much!!!!From HoO- uuuurgh it’s a tie up between Jason comforting Nico after Croatia and then the ending with the two camps and Reyna being a badass. From ToA- I know this isn’t really a scene but when Apollo makes the remarked about Achilles, Briseis and Patroclus because Iliad jokes~~ 😂 but other than that, probably when Apollo starts to realise how shit a parent he actually is and feeling kinda guilty about it. I just love seeing him evolve as a person rather than stay the same immortal fuckboi forever. From KC- THE FUCKING CAN OPENER!!! I laughed for about an hour when I first read the bit when Carter finds out about Horus possessing him. I actually couldn’t read past that bit without laughing over and over again 😂 From MCGA- When Alex was lying down on the Bifrost. I always imagine it as a very beautiful scene because he’s got this rainbow light all around him but it also makes me feel sad for some reason I’ve yet to pin down. But yeah, Alex being pretty and melancholy surrounded by rainbow light~ From Demigods and Magicians- probably when Setne gets sucked into the snow globe. That was a good day reading that.

I can’t remember OtL)

Artemis is a maiden for eternity, she has no interest in men whatsoever??? And Rachel is the oracle of Delphi so she’s sworn to not be with people for as long as she is the oracle??? I just don’t get it.

16.What house do you think Percy is in?

See this is really hard! Percy is certainly brace and noble enough to be in Gryffindor but he is fatally loyal to the people he loves and he works incredibly hard which are more Hufflepuff traits! But at the same time he can be cunning and tricky when he’s in a fight. But he’s not really ambitious enough to be a Slytherin and, while intelligent, he won’t follow up on an idea just because of the allure of knowledge so he’s not really a Ravenclaw…urgh I want to put him in Hufflepuff but idk. Either Hufflepuff or Gryffindor.

17.What house do you think Annabeth is in?

Either Ravenclaw or Gryffindor. Like she will battle past her ADHD and dyslexia for the pursuit of knowledge and to better specialise herself in the areas she wants to but at the same time she walked into her worst nightmares, then fell into Tartarus, got out of Tartarus, then went to war all within the span of a month and a half. That takes Gryffindor courage right there. So yeah, either Gryffindor or Ravenclaw.

18.Thoughts on Luke?

I always feel really bad for Luke. Because he’s so relatable. It’s easy to see how he made the choices he did because he honestly thought that the Titans could be better because the gods mistreatment was all he had ever known. And it hurts what happened to him because he is the classic tragic hero; he made the wrong choices and the minute he realises what a mess he’s made of things, it’s already too late to stop anything. But he was able to do the right thing in the end and I just get really emotional whenever I think of that scene. It hurts too much 😭

19.What race do you think Percy is?

I don’t really know. I mean, we know he’s got a lot of his appearance from Poseidon so that means he should look very Grecian/Mediterranean, maybe he even has a sort of olive skin tone??? Idk. I guess whenever I think of Percy I just think of the kids I used to see on skateboards down at the local park. But yeah, probably Grecian if I had to pick.

20.What do you think of Frank and Hazel’s relationship?

I think it’s really cute. I like how it’s so fresh??? Because with Percabeth that relationship grew out of friendship over five books and Jiper has a natural flow to it with all the fragility and insecurity of a new relationship so it still works. But Hazel and Frank knew each other for such a short period of time before they started crushing on each other and I think it’s sweet to see kind of the love and first sight thing but warped slightly due to the complications that come with their lives. It’s interesting to see them struggle through all the confusion of a brand new relationship but still trying to keep themselves together. It’s nice to see that kind of love rather than the comfortable love of Percabeth or the steady love of Jiper. 21.What do you think of Calypso and Leo’s relationship?

I love it!!! At first I was skeptical but their banter and denial was really funny and the way Leo was determined to make it back to her. I had always wanted someone to treat Calypso right and I’m glad that Leo has someone now who will see underneath all the humour as well as appreciating him for himself :)

22.Do you follow Rick on any social media platforms?

Yes! I follow him on Twitter and on Tumblr~

23.What did you think of the movie?

I liked the visual effects but that was about it. And even then it was like, nice snakes, now where’s the plot??? I really did not like those movies. They need to be buried with the Avatar movie that never existed in my opinion.

24. What are your thoughts on the upcoming musical?

I’m really looking forward to it! I think they cast a really good Percy and I really like what I’m hearing so far. I love musicals and I understand there’s a bigger limit on what you can do on a stage compared to a film so I’m more lenient towards differences between the stage and the book.

25.Do you own any of the books and if so, which ones?

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAH…..I have doubles of all of them OTL but there’s a reason for that!! One copy for myself so that I can always read them and then I lend out the second copies to my friends who are curious about this world that I won’t ever shut up about.

26.Which character are you most like, personality wise?

Idk really. Maybe Will??? Because I’m kinda easy going and I try to help out other people but if you piss me off you will know about it??? And it always takes people by surprise if they don’t know me very well at how angry I can be??? But yeah, maybe Will.

27.Which character do you look the most like?

If any of the characters have rainbow hair, I have not been informed of this! Nah but I don’t know. Without my coloured hair I just kinda look like a ghost with brown hair and colour changing eyes OTL Maybe Sadie because I used to be blonde but I dyed my hair so many times it turned brown and she streaks her hair a lot so yeah, Sadie Kane :)

27.If you could cosplay as any character, who would it be?

Okay I have cosplayer Nico before but I’m going to be cosplaying Alex at the next con I’m going to (unfortunately without her heterochromia because I’m allergic to contact lenses OtL)

28.What’s your favorite cover from the series?

Is it bad to say Blood of Olympus because Leo’s got a chainsaw in it? XD but yeah, actually Hammer of Thor because the Wolf mask on that cover with the eerie green glow across it is really cool!!

29.What are some books you would recommend to another fan?

Assuming these are books related to the PJO universe then The Demigod and Magicians crossover collection are definitely worth the read (assuming you’ve read both HoO and KC) and the Magnus Chase series because they are definitely worth branching away from the Greek and Roman gods.

If that means other series in general then His Dark Materials for definite and probably the Iliad.

30.Do you have any merchandise related to the series?

I do! I have a tshirt with Percy’s quote about procrastination on it (deadlines don’t seem real to me until I’m staring one in the face), and I have a matching charm bracelet, hair bow, earrings and necklace set with pendants that all say Camp Half-Blood on them

31.Any fan casts?

Not really. As long as they look the age of the characters *glares at the film* and they have the majority of the same features *again glares at the films* then I don’t really mind too much.

32.What did you think of the ending of Heroes of Olympus, if you read it?

I personally loved it. I agree it did feel a tiny bit anticlimactic over in Greece what with the gods kicking butt for the first time in the entire series but what happened between the camps and Gaia’s forces there was really cool. And the reconciliation of the camps afterwards and how everyone was getting along was really nice. And of course, the fact that Calypso was finally freed was a big A+ in my book.

33.Would you want to be connected to the Greek, Egyptian, Roman, or Norse Gods?

I think, as far as connected in the PJO universe way goes, I’d want to be a Magician for the House of Life. Because at least then I get a choice in whether or not I want a god in my life. 34.What character from the universe do you think you would be best friends with?

Idk. It’s a tie up between Sadie, Leo and Magnus because they all have a sarcastic wit which I find hilarious but they all have differences that make me want to befriend them. Like with Sadie I could hang out with her any time of the week, and she has a really gives-no-shit attitude that I love (because I give too many shits about things) but at the same time she really cares a lot about her family and her friends which is important to me. Leo is hilarious in general but at the same time really insecure about stuff and I love helping people out and learning from them so I’d probably latch on to Leo and not stop bothering him about machines because all of it is really interesting. And then Magnus is a sarcastic little nerd who tries to be tough but is actually a sunflower and yeah, I have a lot of friends like that 😘😘😘

35.What’s the saddest scene from all the books?

Bob asking whether Percy would say hello to the stars and sun for him. That kills me every time to even think about. Fuck, now I’m crying 😭

36.What scene makes you the happiest?

Any scene of platonic friendship and love is guaranteed to make me happy. But most of all, when Hades told Nico he wanted him to be happy. That just killed me inside because it’s such a difference from the Last Olympian and Nico deserves happiness after all the shit he’s been through.

Hello! I don’t know if I’ll be much help since I’m Canadian and I only applied to schools in my country (unless you’re Canadian too), but I’ll try giving you some general tips. I know how stressful it can be, they really try to force you to decide what to do with your life way too early on. It really feels like everything happened so fast.

I’m putting the rest under the cut since my tips got kinda long, haha. 

Surprising to everyone here maybe, but I’m not applying to a writing program. I feel like I could never be a professional writer because personally I’ve never seen my creative writing as at that type of level. I write here mostly for fun and to get my ideas out into the world somehow, so for me writing is more of a hobby. I get too stressed out having to write creative stuff for school and I’ve never actually written anything other than fanfiction in my spare time. I never got amazing marks in English class since the teachers at my school mark really hard and I hate writing essays. I’d rather read in my spare time than have to write formal essays about books in a short time frame, it takes away the enjoyment of reading for me.

I’m actually applying to be a computer science major since it’s a pretty lucrative field and I liked it a lot when I took a class for it last year. I’m hoping to lean towards cognitive science since I’m also very interested in human psychology, and cog sci is like a combination of the two.

Personally, I applied for Computer Science at the University of Toronto (two campuses), Queen’s University, University of Waterloo, and Mcgill University. 

I based my decisions off of University rankings I found online. QS Top Universities is really great since you can browse by country and by subject, and I’m pretty sure their rankings are trusted well. QS also has tons of tips about the application process and choosing schools, so it’s a pretty great resource.

I suggest looking at the top schools in the field you’re applying for that you can probably obtain the admission average for. Try to find one school that is still fairly good but you know for sure that you can make the average for, it’ll be your backup school. Don’t be afraid to apply for schools where the average is a little bit higher either, you may be surprised with an acceptance. For instance, two of the schools I applied to have very high averages and one is a backup. Mcgill and Waterloo are both maybes, while U of T and Queen’s will probably accept me, U of T’s Scarborough campus is a backup since I don’t really want to go there but the average is lower than the main campus.

If one of the schools you’re applying to has an optional form where you can talk about extracurriculars, jobs, etc. Fill it out. They give you a much better chance of getting into wherever you’re applying.

You should try going on campus tours of schools you plan on applying to or are considering. Seeing the environment you’d be learning in and envisioning yourself there might help you decide later. You might want to consider the city the school is in as well and how far away from home you’ll be. Personally, I want to stay in residence so I can feel more involved in the school’s community, but if you feel more comfortable commuting go with that. You might also want to consider the size of the school, as schools with smaller programs might feel more comfortable, as you’ll be able to get to know more of the other students and your professors.

Some schools have open houses that include tours of residences, presentations about programs, and even sample lectures given by a professor in certain subjects. Open houses also allow you to ask important questions and talk to volunteering students about how they like it there. Most schools also have brochures that you can get in person or look at online telling you about their programs and facilities as well. University/College Fairs will also give you the opportunity to ask questions if campus open houses are hard for you to get to.

You should compare individual programs from different schools. Some of them may end up offering something or teaching in a way that sounds more appealing to you.

Personally, I want to learn another language while in University, so I checked out what kinds of language electives schools have. Most schools have a large variety of interesting courses though. I also looked at out-of-country exchange programs and Co-op that schools offer since I’m very interested in those. Co-op is available for a lot of programs (at least in Canada). It allows you to take a certain amount of time off school to work in the field you’re studying for! You get paid too, and it’ll look good on your resume when you graduate.

There’s tons of resources online. If you want tips about something specific or have a question about a program at a certain school, there’s a good chance that you can find the answer on Google. Lots of students will make posts about the program they’re in and what they like and don’t like about it, and many also provide tips to people who are considering applying to it. It also might be good to search for information about a school’s social community, as some might appeal to you more than others.

So yeah, that’s basically what I did to figure out where to apply to. Obviously you don’t have to apply to the top schools in your subject, that’s just what I wanted to do since I’ve been an overachiever most of my life and I feel pressured to continue.

In terms of what you apply for, what matters most is probably just applying for something you love or are interested in. If it’s something that you think will make you happy then go for it. It is pretty sucky how they force you to decide so soon though. Some of my friends still haven’t decided and applied to different programs, so you don’t have to feel pressured to choose one thing just yet.
