I decided to put (Name) as a student of Orca due to the fact that Magarret gave her gold coins to others because she wasn't interested
Warning: This takes place before Mashle begins, so there will be no quotes from any of the protagonists.

"Hey Rayne!" A person with (h/c) hair says turning his head to face Rayne who was a little far away as they continue to lean on the iron bars that separated him from the lake
"Look at that duck! Isn't he funny and cute at the same time?" They say while pointing at a specific duck
Rayne sighs as she approaches the bar and sees the spot where they pointed.
The duck they said was cute and funny was one with shades of black and yellow that was upside down
Did the colors remind you of someone...?
"They look like you!" To confirm Rayne's doubt, they said while letting out a few giggles
'...Why am I even here?' Rayne think while rethinking the last moments that led him here

"Hey! You and Rayne right?" A voice behind him catches his attention, so he turns to face the owner of the voice.
There was a person with (h/c) who wore an Orca coat
"Yes... What do you need?" Rayne asks suspiciously and his guard was up, he had never seen this person before and now they wanted to talk
"I heard you're after coins to become a Divine Visionary..." They say as they lean forward "And I kind of have a gold coin here..."
This alarms Rayne who was ready to grab her wand.
It seems they noticed this movement and raise their hands to show redemption "Calm down, calm down, I'm not here to fight! I want to make an exchange" They say while waiting for his reaction
"...A switch?" Rayne says without letting her guard down but lowering her hand from reaching for the wand
"That's it! If you do a single favor, I'll give you the coin for free without worry" They say while making pistols with their hands and pointing at him
Rayne raises an eyebrow showing that she is interested in this 'exchange'
The (h/c) person gets the hint and continues "Great! The only thing I want is to go on a date with you!" They say pointing to Rayne
'......What?' Rayne wasn't showing it but his brain was spinning as fast as possible to understand this exchange
Without noticing they continue "I kind of wanted to go to an event that will take place in a small square and nobody wants to go with me..." They admit with shame
"Are you trying to tell me that you will exchange your currency to go on a date with me just because you don't want to go to this event alone?" Rayne responds with indignation in her voice.
"B-but think on the positive side! You get a gold coin without having to fight!" They say trying to persuade them
"And how do I know that I don't -" Before Rayne responds the person takes out a gold coin from his coat and shows it to him
"I'm not one to not keep my words!" They respond with indignation in their voice at being almost called liars
"So? Do we have a deal?" They say while moving the coin from side to side
"We have" Rayne says making the (h/c) person start to jump with joy
"That's it! Hahaha" They continue as they celebrate their victory, seeming to forget the existence of the boy with two-colored hair
"*Ahem* My name is (First Name) (Last Name)" They finally introduce themselves as they snap out of their stupor

'Oh and that' Rayne remembered the reason as she walked a little behind (Name) who was humming an unknown song
And of course at first Rayne wasn't confident about it and only accepted because of the coin out that (Name) said they would pay for everything so he didn't need to bring money, but he did anyway, and they actually paid for everything
So here the two of them were passing by some stalls that were selling various types of items, some caught (Name)'s attention so they stopped to take a closer look and deciding to buy or not others they offered to buy something for Rayne but he always refused
As they walked something caught Rayne's attention.
There was a shooting range, but that wasn't what caught his attention.
It was one of the rewards, a giant stuffed rabbit.
"Did you like him?" Suddenly a voice takes Rayne out of his thoughts and he looks at the owner, who as always was (Name) who was now next to him looking at the plush.
Before he could say anything (Name) took his hand and led him to the tent where the rabbit was.
"What can I help you young people with?" The stall owner says as soon as they get close enough
"How much is three tries?" (Name) says as she starts going through her bag looking for her wallet.
"There are 5 coins for three attempts" The owner responds
Rayne looks at them suspiciously as she watches them pay the amount and receive the gun and point it at the target.
After several attempts and losing a good amount of money (Name) finally managed to win
"Heh~ Now pass the giant rabbit!" (Name) says in a proud tone like I did it the first time while putting away the gun
"Here it is!" The owner says while handing over the plush that was bigger than (Name)
After they thank them, (Name) turns to Rayne
"Here! For you!" They say as they lift the big rabbit
Rayne didn't seem like it, but he was surprised that they played and spent a good amount of money just to give him the rabbit.
"...Thank you" Rayne says as he accepts the bunny trying to hide her excitement
"It has!" (Name) says smiling with her eyes closed at him
So Rayne and (Name) went to see more stalls leaving the stall owner happy to see an adorable interaction

"That was the best date I've had in my entire life!" (Name) says while walking down the school hallway next to Rayne
After that interaction, the two did more things together and are now back at school.
"And as part of the agreement" (Name) says stopping in the middle of the way making Rayne stop too
(Name) goes through her bag and takes out the gold coin and holds it up to Rayne
"Here! Thanks for the date!" They said while smiling at Rayne
"It was nice doing business with you" Rayne says while picking up the coin with her free hand from the giant stuffed rabbit
"I'm also grateful for the rabbit" He continues as he puts the coin in a safe place
"You're welcome, I heard you liked rabbits!" They say letting out a little laugh
"...Maybe one day we can go on a date without needing to change" Rayne says, surprising (Name)
Before (Name) could say anything, he immediately left heading towards his dorm.
"I'm always willing to go on dates with you Rayne!" That was the last thing Rayne heard from them before turning into a hallway.

The four of ya'll walk outside gazing at the upcoming houses and buildings in the distance. "Why, why are those houses so far from our own?" Yellow asked, pulling on your hand. You shrug, "can't say I know."
"Maybe it's because we're better than them," Duck replied with a prideful look. "Or maybe it's because we aren't..." Red mutters, his enthusiasm becoming less with each step the group took.
In the center of the colorful neighborhood stood a brilliant red house, with a couple of other houses and buildings surrounding it like a circle.
"Wow, it's so.." Duck interrupted Red quickly.
"Dull. Very dull."
"What? No. It's not dull."
"I like it." Yellow expresses. "Yeah, he likes it. Why can't you?"
"Because that house has two giant eyes that are staring at me."
Your group turns to look at the red house, it blinks right back at you.
"Erm.." You pull Yellow closer to you as the red home sets its eyes, or curtains, on you.
"Oh c'mon now, didn't that stupid notepad come to life before? How is this any different?" Red Guy stares at Duck for a few seconds before nodding. "Yeah, he's right."
The four of you ignore the living house and head in another direction. Going inside a little shop with so many items you could even buy a shed there.
"Howdy new neighbors! The names Howdy! Howdy Pillar, welcome to the neighborhood!"
A caterpillar-like puppet greets the four of you from behind a counter and cash register. He holds out all four limbs for a handshake. Causing Duck to jump back into Red as Yellow stared in awe at the many appendages.
"Yes, hello, we'd like to buy some of your goods. May we take them?" Duck explains, and you huff out a laugh, Howdy too, was chuckling.
"No can do neighbor, you gotta tell me a joke and I'll give you your groceries. Simple as that."
"What? Is that the currency of this place?" Red Guy mumbles as Duck stews in thought.
"Funny joke? Uhm, you kinda look like that, w-worm, no, he was an eagle guy. He went inside my head and gave me a worm in br-rain." Yellow announced curiously, causing Howdy to become quiet at the boys' words...
Your lips becoming a thin line as you recall the incident.
"That stupid worm thought he was a eagle, ha!" Duck mocked. Unaware of Howdy's thoughtful expression.
Before he too, was howling in laughter.
"A worm that thinks he's a bird?! Hahaahhaha!!" The store owner laughed loudly, trying to catch his breath as one of his arms slammed on the counter-top.
"Never heard that one! Interesting delivery there, bud'!" Howdy ruffles Yellows messy blue hair kindly, "So? What can I get ya'll?"
You step in, a simple smile on your face. "Coffee-"
"Now hold on," Duck interrupted, looking up at you. "I have my own specific items I need, I don't want them to be lumped with yours."
"Okay? But what I am getting is for everyone."
"Right, but I'm not everyone. I'm me, and I need things for me." Duck reiterates before pulling out a list and handing it to you. "You... You want more paper? Why?"
"For my shredder! Keep up!"
"Okay.. Can we have some paper-"
"Oh! And Chuddle Dollops, please?" Yellow asked, gazing up at you with puppy eyes. You nodded before look at Red expectantly. "Uhm, I'm good."
"Okay then, so..." Howdy lowers down beyond the counter, placing the items you needed. "Coffee, paper and.. Chuddle Dollops? Hm, never heard of that brand before, I didn't even know that was in stock! Oh well."
Handing over the bags, you thank Howdy as Yellow shyly thanked him too. "Thanks mate'," Red said, holding one of the bags for you, Duck nodded to the bodega owner before all four you left.
"Hm, strange neighbor's.. But they seem nice." Howdy comments to himself before wiping down the counter.
"I agree, they all are quite oddities."
"Oh! Didn't see ya' there Wally. The usual right?"

explain blaseball to me like I don’t know what baseball is
In the most simple explanation possible (simple does not mean short), it was a baseball simulator where the fans could bet on the teams with fake currency. The teams were all original teams and the players were randomly generated from their names, stats, position, down to their preference in coffee and pregame rituals. Fans would pick a favorite team and use the money they gained to buy raffle tickets, which were submitted into an online election system.
The election page contain simple things like "improve one of your players batting stats", "trade a player with the season winning team", or massive rule changing things like "The Top 4 Teams of the Regular Season must run an extra base next season" or "Every Season, a random team from each Subleague will become the 5th Playoff team. A best of 3 Wild Card series will happen on Fridays."
Fans would often work together to pool their raffle votes on what they wanted. The winners were pulled at random but the more votes you submitted the better your chances. The game took harsh turns into cosmic horror very quickly. The first season allowed fans to vote to "open a forbiden book" which resulted in the book cursing the game as a whole, causing solar eclipse weather which caused the umpires to occasionally turn into mindless killers who would randomly incinerate players mid-game. These deaths were permanent and the player was immediately replaced with no fanfare.
Fans often got very attached to their teams players, drawing art of what they look like or writing up stories about them, so their deaths often really meant something to a lot of people. Fans would often find ways to manipulate the simulation to do weird things, or try to push their team in interesting directions to reach some goal. The game devs often noticed what the fans were doing and would play into their games to cause many funny "monkeys paw" results.
One of the most famous involved a player named Jaylen Hotdogfingers. She was killed when the forbidden book was opened because she was the best pitcher in the league and it wanted to punish us. There was an option in an election one season to "steal the 14th most popular player onto your team" and fans quickly noticed you were still allowed to claim dead players were your favorite. Jaylen was listed as playing for the "Null" team because she was obviously dead, but it still counted as a real team. Fans succeeded in trading with this "null" team and jaylen was brought back to life. Fans refer to this as Necromancy.
When she started playing, she returned to pitching, but she started causing "Hit-By-Pitch"s, which was not a standard part of the simulation at this point. Players hit were marked as "Unstable". Eventually, an unstable player was incinerated, and that instability spread to another player activly in that game, and text read out "[PLAYER] was incinerated, A Debt was Collected."
So jaylen was spreading some "mark for death" on players on purpose to repay whatever God controlled this game for bringing her back from the dead. This lead to a domino effect of death until this debt was repaid that many fans call "Ruby Tuesday."
Overall the game had a few main plots, one involving us challenging/killing one of the gods of this game, the other fighting against the "boss" turning the game into a profit hungry hellscape. The fanart was insanely good, the unique stories every fan had about their team and players were always fun, and a lot of good was done for many different charities. Many fans would get together and make music, resulting in a band and record lable.
All fan communication was done through an official discord or team specific sidecords, so live games had live fans watching in real time. It really was a "you had to be there" thing, a real cultural event. Fans have done everything they can to preserve it. Nothing will ever match the energy of the live discovery of events in a live chat, but the messages are all still in there, and there's a website to replay the old games exactly as they were. And the blaseball wiki is a blast to scroll through even if you never watched it because all the player and team pages are filled with the stories fans made up.

For those of you unfamiliar with Invisible Sun, it's an rpg where every single player is a spell caster of some variety, each with their own unique way of interacting with magic.
The Vances are the most traditional spellcasters, but they eschew spell lists in favor of literally filling a grid with spell cards, representing their limited cognitive space being taken up by spells. They get more space, and literally bigger spells as you progress.
Weavers take two concepts and combine them to produce an effect, very much like Ars Magica or Mage: The Ascension, if you're familiar with those. They get the ability to combine more concepts together, and to have mastery over more concepts as they progress.
Makers are this game's artificer, and they have a robust system for making quirky magic items that have fun, interesting, unique side effects or downsides every time you use them. Their progression is the most straight forward by the numbers "the things you make are more powerful and you're better at making them" of the bunch, but the system lets you, for instance, make a gun out of the body of a dead(?) god, so I'll give this a pass.
Lastly, there are the Goetics, who summon and bind otherworldly creatures to their wills. This takes the form of a conversation and negotiation with your GM over what you have to do for your bound creature, and what exactly they do for you in exchange. If you've ever played a warlock and felt like patrons weren't a big enough deal, this is an entire "class" that lets those relationships (yes, plural) take center stage.
The entire system feels very much like Cypher system 2.0, with a d10 dice pool system with a straight forward level of difficulty to hit, very much like the levels of difficulty in base cypher system, just made easier to manage. It even uses the "I'm an Adjective Noun who Verbs" character structure from Cypher system, here made much more interesting by the addition of a funky little xp system.
Invisible Sun has one of the most interesting advancement systems I've ever seen: aside from normal, average, "you do a thing, you get xp" system, here called "Acumen" (used to increase your stats and skills) there is a separate xp system related to good and bad things happening to your character, called "Joy" and "Despair" respectively. You combine one Joy with one Despair to get a "Crux" which is the xp currency you need to advance your class and focus abilities. This incentivizes players to not only let bad things happen to them, but to SEEK THEM OUT, which is huge! Players often think they want to win all the time, but they don't actually want that, it makes for a boring narrative. This is one of the very few systems I've seen incentivize this story structure, and I'm absolutely in love with it.
Lastly, because the game focuses so heavily on Magic, it has the only system for simulating the ebbs and flows of magic I've seen done well! This involves "The Path of Suns" and the "Sooth deck" which is the in game name for a specific pattern of laying out what amounts to tarot cards that make magic dynamic, interesting, and unpredictable in a way I've never seen before, and rarely since. (Pathfinder's Secrets of Magic is the only other supplement I can think of, and that was almost 5 years after this game came out)
Anyway, I can't recommend this game enough, the systems are unique, the vibes are immaculate, and it's so fuckin WEIRD in the best way.

I was looking at old German youth magazines in order to find interesting articles about classic rock bands (specifically Pink Floyd) and came across this in the 01/1978 issue of BRAVO magazine (One of the most famous teen/young adult magazines in Germany that’s been there since 1958 and is still going strong today!) A lot of youth magazines back in the day had articles and posters about rock bands because, well, that’s the people who were celebrities at that time! This page includes both short descriptions of the band members and a short history of the band up until that point when the issue came out! Enjoy ;)

1965
The three architecture students Roger Waters, Rick Wright, and Nick Mason meet and get to know each other, establishing the band Sigma 6.
1966
February: Sigma 6 gets their first fee for a performance in the London Marquee Club and mostly cover popular rock and blues songs. During this time they meet art student Syd Barrett. He writes songs and joins the band as a guitarist and singer. Under his influence Sigma 6 evolve into their own music style: The group does electronic experiments and uses spotlights, reversal film, and recorded footage as part of their stage shows. Thus psychedelic music is born. Syd Barrett is as well (psychedelic), who now comes up with new names for the band almost every month — they call themselves “T-Set,“ “Abdabs” — and in this group a girl sings as well from time to time: Juliette Gale. She later marries keyboardist Rick Wright.
June: The group could pay for a band bus for approximately 200 Mark (the German currency at the time of this article), but decide to separate for the time instead. No one is interested in performing, since the boys want to enjoy the semester holidays as well as after them improve and work harder on their studies; music is fun but a real job is more important. Syd Barrett then has a new idea for a band name: The Pink Floyd Sound. He comes up with his idea through combining the names of two American blues singers: Pink Anderson and Floyd Council. The owner of an artist agency, Peter Jenner, sees a performance from The Pink Floyd Sound in the Marquee, and then from there on decides to manage the band, not knowing the band wanted to break up.
July: Peter Jenner gets the band gigs, and thus Pink Floyd stays together.
October: Pink Floyd are now the stars of the London Underground. They perform in the Roundhouse to 2000 fans, with even Paul McCartney being there to see them.
December: On the 23rd of December the UFO club opens, with Pink Floyd performing there daily henceforth.
1967
January: The English music magazine “Melody Maker” write an article about Pink Floyd, which makes record companies curious about the band. The band accepts the best offer, and as they sign the record label contract, they cash in an advance payment of 40 000 Mark.
February: The first single “Arnold Layne” gets recorded.
March: Arnold Layne goes to the English hit charts.
April: The single is on number 20 in the charts and then falls off. But this beginning success gives them the push they needed to record their first album “The Pipers at the Gates of Dawn.“ Norman “Hurricane” Smith serves as producer for this album, and began his career as a recording engineer for the Beatles. While Pink Floyd work on their album in studio 3 of Abbey Road studios, the Beatles work on their album “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” at the same time in studio 2; two decade defining groups working next door.
June: Pink Floyd join as a supporting act along with Jimi Hendrix and the Move (runner up band to Electric Light Orchestra) for an England tour, but only get to play 17 minutes.
July: The second single “See Emily Play,“ becomes part of the English hit charts, coming in at number 6, and the first album “The Pipers at the Gates of Dawn” releases.
September: See Emily Play also goes into the German hit charts and reaches number 28. Syd Barrett at this time also creates a speaker system which is still useful today, where the speaker boxes are placed all around the room.
1968
At this time, it is practically impossible for Pink Floyd to continue performing with Syd Barrett. He is more and more off in his own world and mind, often not knowing where he is. Out of necessity, the band thus searches for a second guitarist who could join the band.
February: David Gilmour joins Pink Floyd. Syd is still part of the band, but during concerts his amps are often not even turned on, so that the audience doesn’t know any better about his mistakes.
April: On the 6th of April Syd definitively leaves the band, with manager Peter Jenner going with him. Pink Floyd begin working on their second album “A Saucerful of Secrets.“
June: At a free open air concert on the 29th in the London Hyde Park the band officially announces and debuts David Gilmour as their new lead (and only) guitarist. On the same day the new album releases as well.
1969
July: The soundtrack album Pink Floyd worked on for the film “More,” releases.
October: Pink Floyd have their first concert in Germany on the 11th of October at the Pop and Blues Festival in the Essen Grugahalle venue. On this day, Deep Purple celebrate their first concert in Germany as well.
November: The double album “Ummagumma” releases and makes the group successful worldwide for the first time.
1970
March: The soundtrack album Pink Floyd worked on for the film “Zabriskie Point” releases.
June: Pink Floyd perform the title track of their upcoming new album “Atom Heart Mother” worldwide at open air festivals with recorded footage, dry ice fog, and light bombs as part of their special effects on stage.
October: The album “Atom Heart Mother” releases and leads the album charts in England and America.
1971
The album “Meddle” comes out. This year Pink Floyd is particularly busy; they go from one concert to the next and have multiple tours worldwide.
1972
The soundtrack album Pink Floyd worked on for the film “La Vallée” releases under the title “Obscured by Clouds” as their new album. The rest of the year the band spends inside the studio.
1973
March: The album “Dark Side of the Moon” releases and is on the English and American album charts for over two years, and also goes gold in Germany. It is to this day the band’s most sold album.
October: Pink Floyd perform their last German concert for a long time on the 12th of October at the Olympiahalle in Munich, and it becomes the sensation of the year. Pink Floyd also make their way into the English and German single charts again with the single “Money.”
1974
Pink Floyd are tired of success and go back to their private family lives, with rumors appearing that the group will break up. In autumn, the double album “A nice pair” comes out, which is a rerelease of their first two albums.
1975
September: The album “Wish You Were Here” releases.
1976
This year, Pink Floyd doesn’t appear publicly that much as well, except for some performances at festivals.
1977
January: In Dortmund Pink Floyd start their first German tour since 3 years ago on the 23rd. They have 2 concerts each for Dortmund, Frankfurt, and Berlin, with Munich having 3. All concerts were sold out 2 months before the tour started. Simultaneously the 11th album of the band, “Animals” releases. Even before the album released, “Animals” goes gold, with 250 000 records being preordered. This German tour is also the starting point of a months long worldwide tour — the most comprehensive one that Pink Floyd have undertaken yet.

what do I like to draw?
I love drawing people, portraits especially, but I also enjoy drawing animals. characters from fandoms, portraits of family/friends/pets/etc are all a-okay! I'm a multishipper so very few ships are a problem for me - what I will draw is pretty flexible aside from what is listed in the following 'what will I not draw?' section. For the purpose of this fundraiser, all art will be safe for work.

While I'm happy to draw real people, be they yourself/friends/family/a celebrity you like/etc, I won't do ship art of real people (art of a couple in your real life is fine, but ship art of celebrities, for example, is something I am not comfortable with). I also will not draw age gap relationships wherein the younger character is a minor. No gore/graphic violence - though canon typical bloodiness (MASH characters in the OR for example), is fine. I will not be drawing nsfw art of any ship for this fundraiser.
The above is what I can think of right now, though I reserve the right to turn down a concept should something come up that I didn't think of right now. Should that be the case, I will work with you to determine a different subject/concept.

Greetings, Ni No Kuni fandom! I’ve seen a couple people on here post their NNK ocs on here so I thought I’d add my own blorbo to the collection. Now presenting: Penelope Homebrew of the Land of Nod! She’s from WotWW and has a whole DLC post game mission, which ends with Penelope becoming a playable character. I’ll write out how her story goes under the cut, but basically she’s a potion saleswoman who helps the gang close the Nightmare Rifts (name in progress) that have taken over Castaway Cove, Yule, and Perdida.

The Land of Nod: Where Dreaming is Doing.
- Okay so Nod is a kingdom located on the Spindle, a small island near Autumnia. I’m pretty sure spindle is a reference to mining, but we’ll say it references the spindle from Sleeping Beauty.
- The Land of Nod is all about dreaming. Its inhabitants, called Nodlanders, have the ability to bring whatever they dream of to life. This ability is called Manifesting. Manifesting requires the user to both come up with the item they desire, dream it, AND remember it when they wake up. Nodlanders grow up practicing how to lucid dream, and how to remember their dreams in the waking world. It’s a hard skill to master, which is why so few can actually make a career out of it.
- But since Nodlanders who do master this skill are very powerful, Shadar saw them as a threat, which is why he put all of Nod to sleep with a spell. That’s also why Nod doesn’t show up on the map in the main game, because it’s hidden from sight. And also he made everyone have nightmares, which is important later.
- Since Nod is a postgame area, the items you can buy here are very powerful, but also very pricey. They can only be found in Nod because the Nodlanders literally dreamed them up. Most Nodlanders have a specific kind of item they focus on, like weapons or armor. It’s a HUGE tourist trap.
- Also you might be asking, why isn’t Nod the richest place in the world? Why can’t they just dream up infinite money and food? I thought of that. You can’t really read or write in dreams, so any dreamed currency is obviously fake. And Nodlanders CAN dream up food, but it can’t inwardly be food. So basically dream food can look and taste a certain way, but doesn’t contain substance or calories, so you can’t survive off it. Snack stands and buffets are very popular in Nod for this reason, as you’ll never get stuffed.
Penelope Homebrew: Saleswoman Extraordinaire (?)
- Penelope lives in Nod but has no dream powers. She’s a disappointment to her parents because of this, and spends the whole story trying to prove herself, before eventually realizing she doesn’t have to prove herself to anyone. Also I want her and Swaine to be besties so they bond over being non-magicals from magical families.
- Since she has no dreaming abilities of her own, Penelope runs the Homebrew Apothecary, where she sells potions made from the Dream Energy of other Nodlanders. They look down on her for not having powers of her own, which makes her feel bad. The apothecary got very little business before Shadar, since tourists were more interested in real dream-based products, but Penelope sees traveling with Oliver as a chance to get her brand out there. There are several cutscenes where she’s just advertising to anyone who’ll listen, and she uses the fights to show off her potions.
- Penelope comes with several potions to use in battle and in the overworld. Each of them has a silly little name because you can’t have NNK without some silly little names.
- Nightcap: This potion induces the sleep status on an opponent for 20 seconds.
- Seeing Stars: A potion that induces the confusion status on an opponent.
- A Dream is a Wish: This drinkable potion will, at random, increase the user’s MP or HP, or take away their status condition (the third option only applies if a status condition is present).
- Beauty Sleep: A drinkable potion that completely heals the user’s HP and MP, in return for making them immobile/asleep for thirty seconds. This also almost completely drain’s the user’s MP, so it should be used sparingly.
- Knock Out: A potion that inflicts physical damage on an opponent.
- Shut Eye: An overworld spray potion that gives your party two minutes of invisibility. It works the same as Oliver’s Veil spell.
- Night Light: Ingesting this potion gives the user night vision.
- Basically, all her potions are either thrown, ingested, or sprayed. She starts off with a slingshot, but eventually Swaine makes her the Shooting Star, a steampunk looking bow and arrow that can shoot out any offensive potion Penelope currently has in her roster. The “arrows” are syringes full of potions. This makes her a ranged attacker. I imagine she can replace Swaine in battle, similar to how you can replace Esther with Marcassin.
- Oh also, to make the gang trust her, Penelope pretends she was a famous and successful potioneer before Shadar cast his sleep curse. Swaine suspects her from the start because one con artist recognizes another, but eventually everyone learns she’s been lying and conflict happens. Oooooooo.
The Plot: Nightmare Magic-Induced Therapy
- As I mentioned, Shadar put all the Nodlanders to sleep and gave them nightmares, which they kept having until Cassiopeia woke them up. When they woke up their Dream Energy exploded across the world and caused Nightmare Rifts to appear in Castaway Cove, Yule, and Perdida. Why? It’s like when the printer isn’t working so you keep pressing print, and then it starts working again and shoves out a million papers at once. The Nodlanders had dreamed so much during the sleep curse that when they woke up they couldn’t contain all the energy that had built up.
- Because of this, these three areas are now dungeons with a boss at the end, which are nightmarish manifestations of each town’s Vibe. Each dungeon is also based on a commonly-hated video game mechanic (these being water physics, ice physics, and moving levels). And, also, each dungeon reflects one of the main three’s fears in some way, both literal and metaphorical. In going through these dungeons and defeating the bosses, Oliver, Esther, and Swaine work through their fears with the help of Penelope.
- Also, the reason Penelope starts traveling with them (other than the opportunity to sell more potions) is because the other Nodlanders are too tired from their nightmares to be helpful. Since Penelope doesn’t have dream magic, she feels fine (if a little traumatized after years and years of nightmares).
- Castaway Cove is a water level where the town is completely flooded and sea monsters lurk in the depths. The boss is a sunken ship monster called Ship Wrecker, who has a mouth and teeth made of jagged wooden planks. Its big move is Anchors Away, where it releases a large anchor that damages the whole party. When it’s close to dying it does a new move called Wreckage, where its whole body becomes a mouth to bite the party with. Its normal move is just chasing someone around and biting them. Also there’s a water bubble around the battle arena because it would be a pain in the ass if not.
- This is Oliver’s level, since he almost drowned and is therefore afraid of water. He tries to swim to prove he’s not afraid anymore, but starts having a panic attack. He admits to Penelope (because they split into groups) that he feels guilty that his mom died swimming out to rescue him, and wants to prove that he can take care of himself now like she wants him to. Penelope gives him a pep talk, since she relates to feeling the need to prove herself and doesn’t want him to feel that way. It doesn’t totally fix the problem, but Oliver is able to get through the dungeon without issue.
- Yule is an ice and snow level where the whole place is caved in, and they have to parkour down to the bottom. It kind of sucks because ice physics lol. The little monsters you encounter are scary versions of the Tomte, and the boss is an igloo-abominable snowman fusion called the Bombinable Snowman. It’s a giant spherical igloo with a face and hairy limbs, which it tucks inside itself for certain attacks. Because of the ice blocks, it has really high defense, which only lowers when it does a move called Bumbles Bounce. For this move, it pulls its limbs into itself and throws itself to the ground like a bomb. This does physical damage to anyone not defending. You trigger Bumbles Bounce by attacking it enough, so it’s a very stamina-based fight. It also has an area attack called Avalanche, and a single attack called Stalag-Might, where it slashes with an ice spear.
- This is Esther’s level. She and Penelope get cornered by one of the Tomte monsters, which doesn’t respond to Esther’s attempts to soothe it. Esther gets upset, and says something like “This [monster taming] is what I’m supposed to be good at!” She explains that she’s a sage’s daughter but not a sage herself, so she has to be powerful in her own way so her dad will be proud of her. Penelope’s like “Wow these kids have issues” but assures Esther that if Rashad loves her, he’ll be proud of her no matter what she does. It’s in this moment that Penelope realizes how similar her situation is to Esther’s, and starts feeling less beholden to her parents’ opinions of her.
- Perdida is a moving level where the player has to keep up with the moving camera and dodge constantly changing obstacles. For this one the dungeon is also the boss, as the town’s multi-headed snake statues have come to life and morphed into a giant snake in the sky. It works like the snake boss from Puppeteer, or the Rayquaza balloon from Poke Park. Basically you run across the back of the snake. The heads of the snake attack when you get to the front, but then one of them swallows you and you fight from the inside. Unfortunately I don’t have names for this boss and its moves just yet, but just assume they’re snakey.
- This is Swaine’s level, and also kind of Marcassin’s. Obviously Swaine’s afraid of snakes, but for the whole DLC story he’s also been trying to prove he can be a good brother to Marcassin. Marcassin ends up getting captured by the snake because it was attacking Hamelin, and he wants to prove he can be a good ruler. Basically Swaine wants to be like Marcassin, and Marcassin wants to be like Swaine (in that Swaine is more of a physical attacker and strategist), and they have to work together to stop the snake. In the end both brothers realize they’re good as they are, and Penelope finally comes to the same conclusion.
- With all the rifts taken care of, the group goes back to Nod, where they invite Penelope to travel with them. Penelope thinks about how the Nodlanders and her parents never appreciated her, but how these new people do, so she packs up the apothecary and becomes a traveling saleswoman with the gang. The themes are a little hamfisted, but to be fair the themes of the main game aren’t super subtle.
Conclusion
Holy shit this was way longer than I intended it to be. I don’t expect anyone to read this far but if you did, thanks very much for reading my infodump about a game nobody likes! (Lol.) It’s been super fun coming up with the level designs and stuff, and Penelope is just really fun to draw. Also yeah I know she looks a bit like Moon from FNAF but shhhhh it’s fine.

part 2!
honestly I have a lot ground to cover in terms of songs used for Carmy and Claire. Some are kind of sad. Some are really fucking funny. This one is kinda both.
We'll start with the first song we hear playing with Carmy and Claire: Strange Currencies by R.E.M.

The actual lyrics have little to do with what's going on in the scene, Claire and Carmen are conversing over most of the lyrics. It's not until the third verse that the volume increases and the lyrics become audible. But I'm still gonna talk about the first half of the song, because why not?
"I don't know why you're mean to me When I call on the telephone And I don't know what you mean to me But I want to turn you on, turn you up, figure you out I wanna take you on ..."
Okay, so this first verse is very Claire coded right off the bat. But I do think this song is actually more about Carmy's feelings, and really I can just about guarantee you it is because this song plays twice in the show. R.E.M. songs also have a tendency to play in scenes with Carmen specifically.
"These words, "You will be mine" These words, "You will be mine", all the time
The fool might be my middle name But I'd be foolish not to say I'm going to make whatever it takes Bring you up, call you down, sign your name, secret love Make it rhyme, take you in, and make you mine
These words, "You will be mine" These words, "You will be mine," all the time, oh
I tripped and fell, did I fall What I want to feel, I want to feel it now"
Do not lose hope, fellow sydcarmys. These lyrics are deceptively romantic. But yes, this is what is playing during the conversation w/ Carm and Claire. What is of more interest is the verse that we do finally hear:
"And now with love come strange currencies And here is my appeal I need a chance, a second chance, a third chance, a fourth chance A word, a signal, a nod, a little breath Just to fool myself, to catch myself, to make it real, real"
So the show actually cuts to credits after "And here is my appeal." The rest of the song does play to the end, though.
Interesting that the one verse we hear is the one that just completely invalidates the romantic message of the song.

Like. I could end the post right here, folks.
But I will expand further-- this song, to me, is about Carmy trying to convince himself that he loves Claire.
"These words, "You will be mine" These words, they haunt me, hunt me down, catch in my throat, make me pray Say, love's confined, oh"
This is the final verse of the song. The words "catch in my throat." Probably because... he doesn't actually mean them. This is also foreshadowing that he feels confined in love with Claire.
R.E.M. has plenty of love songs. So the fact they used one where the message of the song is repeating the words "I love you" in an attempt to convince yourself/others you're in love is.....curious.
This song is also used a second time in the show, but in a very different context, so I wanted to touch on that too:

The first flashback we see is actually his intimate moment with Claire.
The next flashback cuts are all footage of Claire; drawings of her, old photos, and beauty shots. There is finally a flashback of Mikey talking about Claire mixed in, followed by more shots of Claire. After that, more shots of his family with Claire mixed in at random intervals. Throughout all of this, Strange Currencies plays with the audio distorted and words reversed. Until...

Strange Currencies begins to play as normal when the flashback of Sydney plays. Specifically the lyrics "These words, You will be mine, These words, You will be mine, All the time."
In the middle of this verse, after a shot of Carmy calming down, we immediately cut to Syd.

Then, on her: "The fool may be my middle name, But I'd be foolish, not to say."
After this lyric, the song fades out and we cut to a scene with Carm and Sugar.
I think there's a difference in the one audible verse during the Carm+Claire scene being one invalidating the romantic tone of the song, and the one that pays with Carm+Syd cutting off before the cracks in the romantic message of the song become apparent.
But I'm still not entirely convinced this song is really meant to be read as a true romantic one. Which is actually fine, since so far in my research I've already found a good amount of actual romantic songs used for Syd and Carmy anyway? This whole song just has very strong red herring vibes to me.
I'll be continuing these song analysis posts, and hopefully more frequently after I'm done with finals. Let me know your thoughts on this one.

No prob, I'll do my best! >:P I'll try not to overexplain since if you do decide to play, the game will prolly walk you through some things itself. SO Twisted Wonderland is about you, the player, getting isekai'd to a another world where big name Disney villains are lauded as folklore heroes. You specifically wind up in a fancy, all-boys magic school! While the unreliable headmaster attempts to find you a way back home, you have to live in a run-down house with a gremlin cat monster while surviving all the trouble the students of the school put you through. It is a 2D gacha game that is mostly a visual novel with some turn-based battles and a few rhythm mini-games. There are 22 characters to collect very pretty cards of, which will unlock mini stories about them and give you more options in a battle.

My tips as someone whose played the game for quite a bit now! :
Other than completing up to Book 1 to unlock the exam mechanic, there's no real rush to get through the main story, so you can go at your pace!
The Card rarity goes as followed: R -> SR -> SSR. Don't be afraid to use your R cards at the beginning! They'll be plenty viable to use in battles when you're just starting out. Soon, you'll get more SR and even SSR cards to use. But in the meantime, make do!
As this is a gacha, BE MINDFUL OF YOUR PREMIUM CURRENCY SPENDING. Throwing whatever gems you accrue to every banner you see will end up leaving you broke with little to show for it (;´д`)ゞ So!! Save your premium currency to only spend on the banners with cards you reeeeally want.
Continuing off my first tip, reliable way to get gems is to login + do your weekly missions. A nice gem saver is a deal for 10 pulls that is 20% off in the in game shop. And this deal refreshes every month, so the savings do pay off in time. >:P
Since you're playing EN, that means you are gifted with hindsight!!...As in, you can peek at the JP schedule and see what banners will possibly come up in EN. The EN ver. of TWST is pretty behind the JP ver. due to being released 2 years after the initial launch. It's a good way to gauge what banners to skip or save for imo.

Tony was well aware that he was spoiled - he was uber-rich for God’s sake, it would be a miracle if he wasn’t. He was also aware that everything and everyone was for sale; it was just a matter of finding the right currency, and he could always afford it, no matter what it was. Just look at Pepper. 
He’d wanted her and he’d got her, all it had cost him was making her CEO of the company. She’d thought it important, but Tony hadn’t, and still didn’t. The company could fold tomorrow or never trade again, and he would continue to sit in the lap of luxury until his final breath. And even though he’d gotten bored of her, it paid to keep her sweet and let her remain in the role that she thought gave her power.
Most times it was easy to gain what he craved - for most people a direct monetary transaction was enough. However, sometimes it took a bit longer to find the right… motivator. He never minded though. These instances normally had a better payoff. Truth be told, it was a rare occurrence he had to actually put work in and he enjoyed the novelty. And what a novelty you were.
In some ways you reminded him of Pepper. You were clever, beautiful, and competent. However, with you, Tony sensed a softness, a caring and loving soul. He wondered if that’s what had been missing from his life so far? But, you also appeared to have a strong moral code. Tony could respect that, but he would admit it was getting just a little frustrating. 
He’d never had to work this hard to encourage an intern to sleep with him. In fact, he’d never really had to do anything other than ask - most people would give a limb or promise their first born child, for such an invitation. Also, not to blow his own trumpet, he was a good lover. A considerate lover. All parties came away satisfied. Yet, you seemed to not want it.
He was sure you were just playing hard to get - holding out for something more. He just had to discover what it was that you wanted from him, because everybody always wanted something from him. Everybody always had a price.

You groaned as you got out of bed and got ready for your day. Why was your life such a gigantic mess, when initially it had looked so promising? When you told people that you interned at Stark Industries, they couldn’t believe your luck. You let out a derisive snort.
Luck? Huh!
If you were so lucky, why were you living in a shitty apartment? If you were so lucky, why were you broke? And if you were so lucky, why were you having to go out of your way everyday to avoid your boss?
You knew the reason for the first two; the reason that all of your money disappeared as soon as it hit your account, but you wouldn’t have it any other way. It was a choice you’d made and you’d make the same choice over and over again. The third thing, though? As far as you were aware, you hadn’t done anything specific to attract his attention.
Like anyone, when you’d first met Tony Stark you were in awe. He was a genius, a billionaire and very handsome. He was charismatic, not afraid to muck in with anyone he worked with, and knew everyone’s names. However, it didn’t take you long to realise he was a raging ego-maniac, not afraid to throw a temper tantrum when he didn’t get his way. His mood could spin on a dime and you’d seen your fair share of red flags in your life to know that no matter how tempting he was - and, boy, was he - accepting your boss’s overt offer would not be a good idea.
When you’d initially turned him down, you’d been worried that you’d lose your position, but that hammer hadn’t fallen, and you’d breathed a huge sigh of relief. You had enough to worry about without adding unemployment into the mix.
With another sigh, you grabbed your keys, SI pass, purse and jacket, and headed out of your dingy accommodation towards the subway.

“Come on, Sugar-pie. What could one little drink hurt?”
You kept your eyes on the papers in front of you, trying not to roll them, as your erstwhile suitor leant over your desk, his index finger resting on the wood right next to your hand, oh-so-close to stroking your skin.
“Mr. Stark-”
“-Tony.”
You couldn’t hold back your sigh of irritation.
“Tony. I’m working. I’m busy. I have all these reports to go over.”
His hand moved away from yours, but in the next second your head was being tilted up, away from where you were studiously focusing, by pressure exerted under your chin.
Tony’s handsome face came into focus, with his sparkling whisky dark eyes, and dark brown, almost black facial hair, trimmed with precision, surrounding pink lips that twitched with amusement.
“You do know I’m the boss and I could order you not to do the reports.”
“I think you’ll find that Ms. Potts is the boss, and she’s the one who asked me to do them.”
Tony obviously didn’t have the same qualms as you about rolling his eyes in a professional setting.
“Pphht! Don’t worry about Pep. She’s only the boss cos I let her be.”
You pushed your chair back, removing your face from his touch.
“Look, Mr. Stark,” You raised your hand when he was about to protest his title, again. “I’m flattered. I really am. But I’m not interested, and I’d really just like to get on with my work. I’m sure you have more suits to tinker with and other interns to flirt with.”
He raised a perfectly shaped eyebrow and observed you for a moment.
“Fine. Have it your way for now, Sugar-pie.” His tone was light, amusement etched across his features, but there was an undercurrent of… something as he spoke. “I know you like me and you’re just playing hard to get. I’ll see you later.”  He turned on his heels, shoved his hands in pants pockets and walked away from your desk, jauntily whistling.

At half past five you pushed back your chair and stood, letting out a groan as you did. Your eyes were tired from going over the reports all day, and now you just had to turn them in with your overview and comments, so you could finally make your way home.
With the stash of manilla folders in hand you walked down the corridor to Pepper’s office. She’d be gone by now - she’d let you know earlier in the day that she had an external meeting and that you should just leave the reports on her desk for the next morning.
Pushing open the door, you headed towards her pristinely organised desk, placed the folders with their cover note front and centre, turned around and… screamed.
You literally jumped in the air, your hands coming up to your chest.
Tony smiled at you from where he was leaning against the bookcase next to the door.
“Hey, Sugar-pie. I know I’m a catch, but no need to jump out of your skin for me.”
He stood up and walked towards you. No, stalked towards you like a sleek leopard in the jungle, tracking its prey. You didn’t even realise you were backing up until your lower back connected with the edge of the desk.
“Umm… Mr. Stark…”
He leant one hand on the desk, next to your hip and raised the other to press a finger to your mouth.
“How many times do I have to tell you, call me Tony. And are we going to go get that drink?”
Frustration welled within you.
“And how many times do I have to tell you, Mr Stark, that I’m not interested.”  You pushed away from him and made your way towards the door, but were halted in your tracks by what he said next.
“Not even to help your grandmother?”
You didn’t turn, but your hands tensed into fists.
“What did you say?” The words left your lips as an angry hiss.
“Your grandmother. She’s in that crappy hospital in Queens, right?”  You felt him come up behind you, his breath hitting your ear from how close he was. “She’s not doing too well, is she? I’m sure I could make her a lot more comfortable. Move her to a better hospital here in Manhattan. The best doctors, the best nurses.”
Tony’s hands settled on your waist, thumbs stroking where your blouse met the waistband of your pencil skirt, yet you didn’t pull away and anger flared within you, directed at yourself for not moving. His body shifted even closer so his front pressed against your back, and you could feel his arousal. 
Bile burned your throat. This was all wrong, yet… you were considering it. Considering prostituting yourself because, dammit, Tony could make a big difference to your grandmother’s remaining days. And would it really be that bad? You’d heard the rumours of his bedroom prowess, and you did find him attractive.
“W-what would happen? When you get bored?”
“You think I’d get bored of you, Sugar-pie? Don’t put yourself down.” His hands slid around your waist and you lowered your eyes, unable to resist watching as he placed his left one on your stomach and his right underneath, his be-ringed pinky finger resting on your mound. “But to illustrate a point, Pepper’s still CEO isn’t she? That was her price. Yours is care and safety for your grandmother.”
You almost baulked at it being put so bluntly, but Tony’s arms held you firm. “Don’t be embarrassed. Everyone has their price and I’m more than willing to pay yours. Your grandmother could live another hundred years and it wouldn’t make a dent in my bank account.”
“You could just do it out of the goodness of your heart then, if the money means so little.”
“But where’s the fun in that?”
His head came even closer and he pressed a soft kiss to your neck, over your pulse point, threatening to rip away the last shred of your morals and self-control.
“This is manipulation, Mr. Stark.”
“Think of it more as a business transaction if it makes you feel better.” He placed a second kiss on your now heated skin and you bit your lip. “I’ll be good to you, Sugar-pie. You’ll be on my arm, dressed as befits beauty such as yours. Other men will want you, but you’ll forget all about them when you’re in my bed.”
He started to sway, moving your body with his. His right hand lowered, fully resting over your sex, gently cupping it. Again, you didn’t pull away, didn’t make any move to dissuade him. You should be though. Your moral compass was screaming at you, but your body was ignoring it in favour of the dizzying sensations that even these few small touches were eliciting and your mind was hurriedly weighing up your options.
“So… just to recap… I date you, publicly. Be your arm candy, warm your bed, and you move my grandmother to the best facility in Manhattan, and will continue to pay for her comfort and care, even if she outlives your interest in me. What if she passes away before then?”
You hadn’t even agreed to his proposition, but his right hand was slowly pulling up your skirt, the fabric concertina-ing around your abdomen, and his left was deftly undoing button after button on your blouse. You realised that your own hands were no longer balled into fists or lying limply at your sides - they were clutching at the outside of his thighs, anchoring yourself to him.
“Then you would be free to end our association, unless we came to some other arrangement. However, I’d like to think that you wouldn’t want to, though. That you would be so enraptured by my attention, my care, that you’d never want to leave.”
As he started to drag the woven cotton from your left shoulder, you instinctively tilted your neck, giving him greater access to your skin. An involuntary sigh escaped your lips as his mouth travelled over your shoulder, his facial hair tickling your skin.
You screwed your eyes shut, knowing that this was the point of no return. He’d already won. He knew it. You knew it.
“I- I agree, Mr. Stark.”
“Tony, Sugar-pie. You really have to use my name now. At least in public. If you prefer another title for private, I’m quite happy with Sir, or even Daddy.”
Oh fuck! Just the thought of using one of those, of submitting to him in such a way was sending you into free fall. You hated how easily you’d succumbed. However, you were jerked out of it, when Tony suddenly took a step back from you.
You whirled around in shock, clothing completely dishevelled. Tony had his phone to his ear, acting for all the world as though he didn’t have an erection straining the fabric of his designer suit jacket.
“Happy? Yes, get it all sorted, please. An agreement has been made.”
The conversation was short and pointed, ending after a few seconds, and Tony tossed his phone onto Pepper’s desk before reaching up to loosen his tie and pop the top button of his shirt. Then, in one stride he was back in front of you, his left arm around your waist, pulling you to him, and his right brushing over your hair. You looked up at him, saw the twitch of his lips and felt yourself pulled into the depths of his eyes.
“Now, where were we, Sugar-pie?”
His lips descended and just before his kisses made you entirely senseless, you wondered if you’d regret this decision. You hadn’t ever thought things would turn out like this, but it turned out you had a price after all.

a couple days ago, a stream featuring andrzej sapkowski came out, supposedly announcing a new book in the witcher series (see link below).
i've watched it, and personally, considering the context, i would reign in my enthusiasm until some kind of official announcement.

i'm including the notes of what he speaks about, for anyone interested.
the first short story started with the title: a male form of the polish word wiedźma (witch) doesn't exist, so sapkowski came up with one. the idea for the story came afterwards.
the first short story was supposed to be a one-time thing. he never expected to write a continuation.
he didn't do any research for the witcher books beforehand because 1/ it's a fantasy book, so he's allowed some leeway & 2/ he already accumulated a lot of knowledge throughout his life by the time he started writing. some research on things was needed during the process, but not a lot of it.
he did do beforehand research for a different, more historical series he wrote afterwards (trylogia husycka).
he once again stresses that the book series is not based specifically on slavic mythology - that was something made up by journalists. he took inspiration from various mythologies indiscriminately, and the plot was more important to him than using any specific sources.
he doesn't remember how many short stories he wrote for the witcher.
back when he started, there was no point in sending manuscripts to publishing houses, because the publishers were not interested in polish fantasy books, preferring the foreign ones. instead, an aspiring writer's best bet would be to send a short story to fantastyka (means fantasy, but only as a literary genre), a magazine that published fantasy & sci fi short stories. at some point he got tired of publishing short stories though, and he sent his manuscript in (he says he doesn't remember what book that was). it was successful, and it encouraged more authors to do the same.
he regrets writing under his real name and not under a literary pseudonym.
nilfgaard's similarities to ancient rome are accidental, and nilfgaard should not be interpreted as based on it. sapko came up with it as an aggressive fantasy nation that wants to take over the world, with no deeper meaning behind it.
first map created for the witcher was the work of the czech translator, and most subsequent maps were based on it (or, as sapko puts it, stolen.) "why i never created a map? pettiness." all fantasy books of the time had a map, so he decided his wouldn't have. and so it doesn't.
the witcher comics were parowski's idea (a witcher fan & comic book author). sapkowski didn't participate in its creation. he tried to give his input about the drawings at first, but the artist basically told him to go fuck himself.
he has a cat
he used to be a senior sales representative, and it gave him some knowledge about sales, banking, currencies and economy which he was able to work into the plot of his stories
he reads at least 50 books per year. of recent works, he recommends madeline miller's circe, steven king's two new books, v.e. schwab's the invisible life of addie larue, peng shepherd's the cartographers, herve le telier's the anomaly, r.f. kuang's babel, holly black's book of night. he considers the above the literary events and fantasy milestones of the past few years.
his commentary on people who study and analyze the witcher and its themes: "they come up with things i never could have come up with." he claims he never assigned any specific philosophy or meaning to his works, but he's happy to read the works of people who do.
he says he didn't base any of his characters on himself in any way. at the same time, his opinion is that it's difficult to write a character that doesn't retain some of the author's qualities. however, the characters are in their own setting and their own story. in his words, "you don't write books about yourself. you write books about characters that you come up with, and you give them their own qualities. […] who cares who i am? the reader is interested in who the witcher is, or who the other characters are."
when asked why geralt is different than the other witchers (more sensitive, kinder), he responds that it's because he's a made up character that's supposed to be interesting for the reader, so he needs to be distinguishable from others. a book is supposed to be interesting, and creating an interesting character is one of the ways to achieve it.
when asked why the smell of yennefer's perfume is so specific, he just says that he made it up and perfume like that doesn't exist.
witchers, although they use magic, are a completely separate group from the sorcerers in the book. there are no common points between them. witchers are also not a reference to any specific mythological archetypes or characters.
he doesn't like announcing what he's doing, because he changes his mind a lot, and doesn't always finish what he starts.
he does say that he is working on a new witcher book and that it should come out within the next year or a couple. considering the context of his words, however, i would consider it as more of a 'maybe' than an actual announcement.

Background Details in Helluva Boss S1 E2 - Loo Loo Land
There were A LOT of background details in this episode so I won't be able to include all of them (tumblr posts have a 10-image limit) but here are some of the ones I found most interesting:
1. Octavia's Childhood Bedroom

The first thing I noticed about Via's childhood bedroom is this drawing of her and Stolas on the wall with Stella nowhere to be seen. It's possible that she has other drawings of her mother elsewhere, but in combination with Stella rarely (if ever?) interacting with Via throughout the show, this suggests she has a much closer relationship with her father.
There's also a TON of star and celestial related stuff in Via's room including decorative details like her starry bedding, wallpaper and night light but also more educational features like a telescope, star charts and books on Astronomy and Cosmology.
This suggests to me that as a child she either had a genuine keen interest in her dad's work or just took her role as his heir extremely seriously. Her seventeen-year-old bedroom lacks most of these details except for the telescope but her desire to see the stars in S2 E2 suggests she is still interested in this stuff but is just less blatant about it.
2. Fizzarolli Branding & Marketing
Maybe unsurprisingly, given Loo Loo Land is Mammon's theme-park and stars a Robo-Fizzarolli as one of its main attractions, both Fizz and Mammon are VERY present in the background of this episode.

Most of these advertisements are centred around products and performances specific to Loo Loo Land but Fizzarolli's face can also be seen on Mammon-branded breakfast cereal and adverts for those Fizzarolli robot sex dolls we've heard so much about (showing off an impressive array of features including but not limited to "tentacle action", "ten speed vibration" and "BDSM")
We also get a close up shot of the money used at Loo Loo Land, featuring Mammon's face and a stated value of 100 souls per-note, though it's not clear whether this currency is specific to Loo Loo Land/The Greed Ring or whether this is the currency that's used across all of Hell.

3. Lu Lu World References

This episode also featured a ton of references to Loo Loo Land's inspiration/competitor Lu Lu World; a theme-park created by Lucifer himself (or at least featuring his branding).
While we aren't given much info about Lu Lu World, it's suggested that Loo Loo Land is a pretty shameless and unsubtle rip-off and everything from the name (Lu being short for Lucifer) and the apple theme (relating to the forbidden fruit Lucifer gifted to Eve) supports this.
4. Hazbin Hotel References

While almost all of the rides and stalls at Loo Loo Land are apple-themed, I was surprised to see this angel-themed "Extermination" stall, featuring a giant Exorcist peeking over the top.
It's the closest Helluva Boss comes (that I've noticed so far) to referencing the yearly extermination that drives the plot of Hazbin Hotel.
This screenshot is also a good illustration of something else I noticed in this episode which is that all of the staff at Loo Loo Land and all of the guests apart from Stolas and Via are imps. Not sure if this is representative of the demographic of the Greed Ring in general or Loo Loo Land specifically but I thought it was interesting to note!
5. Blitzo's office (ft. Blitzo's horse thing)

Blitzo has a new phone (or at least a new case) this episode after breaking and/or losing his phone in the woods last episode. His new case says "wild and free" which is probably a subtle reference to horses, given it matches the horse poster on the opposite wall.
He also has a mug saying "Boss Bitch" and a framed photo of himself half-naked and posing seductively with a rose in his mouth, signed with the words "#1 Bitch Boss"

Have you done headcanons for Appoplexians or Cerebrocrustaceans yet? If you haven’t done either, your pick, and if you’ve done both, you can instead share headcanons about your favorite alien species or the one you have the most thoughts about!
I haven’t posted about Cerebrocrustaceans specifically but I have talked about them before! Namely in my Vulpin headcanons as I like to imagine them being in the same planetary system! I’d love to talk about these crabs some more!
Intergalactically, Cerebrocrustaceans have a somewhat bad reputation. Not only can they be hard to work with, but because of how they drained their former planets Encephalonus I, Enceph. II, and Enceph. III of all life.
Them being hard to work stems from deeply instinctual territorial behaviors. Despite their highly advanced intelligence, Cerebrocrustaceans simply never evolved out of their primitive hostility to Any Threat to their Territory.
This being where the species’ rivalry with the Galvans stems from.
Additionally, Cerebrocrustaceans have a strong dislike of Planchaküles. Cerebrocrustaceans culture highly values order and dignity, while Planchaküles behave as absolute chaos goblins and achieve incredible mechanical advancements that easily rivals Cerebrocrustacean work.
Their territorial nature makes lab assistances a non-concept on Encephalonus IV.
When group collaboration is needed (such as the creation of the Cerebroian Currmary as discussed in the aforementioned Vulpin post) Cerebrocrustaceans will agree to meet in a neutral gathering space owned by none of the working Cerebrocrustaceans.
Planet hopping greatly encouraged adaptation in Cerebrocrustacean biology. Modern populations are observed to be more capable of operating on less food and more resistant to pressure changes.
On the topic of adaptation, there is very apparent differences between subsections of Cerebrocrustaceans. The most notable is some being aquatic and others being terrestrial. (This is can seen in examples such as Brainstorm requiring a breathing brace, while Dr. Psychobos does not.)
Aquatic Cerebrocrustaceans have built expansive underwater infrastructure that spans for miles on record. Their water built technology puts them on interplanetary interest.
Semiaquatic, air-breathing Cerebrocrustaceans typically live just above the water, enjoying the brackish and humid conditions.

Fully terrestrial variants seemingly instead push themselves as high above the water as they can manage, many apparently believing this to be proof of their higher advancements to their cousins.

There are five united societies on Encephalonus IV. Two of these are fully aquatic, two semiaquatic, and one fully terrestrial. When planet wide matters are up for discussion, representatives from each of these five nations meet on unowned territories and attempt to reach the most mutually beneficial agreement.
Cerebrocrustaceans do not care for their offspring. Eggs are laid and left. Newborns will hatch and fight for rugged survival until their brains have developed enough to join proper society.
There is no social concept of romance in Cerebrocrustacean culture. Reproduction exists as a part of a natural cycle, usually having little intimacy in it.
On this, there is a booming interest in hormonal adjustment practices that remove the urge to breed.
There is no mass recognized currency on Encephalonus IV. Accommodations (such as travel, lab spaces, high functioning homes, etc) are earned through having the Cerebrocrustacean’s intelligence being recognized. If your work is considered impressive and worthwhile, you will have access to ever increasing resources.
Many Cerebrocrustaceans will agree to off planet work with no financial compensation, believing the work will bolster their reputation on their homeworld.
Meanwhile, so to say “low class” Cerebrocrustaceans are limited to a conservative amount of resources to use. Caused by their society’s fear of draining their planet like they had in the past. Cerebrocrustaceans at the bottom of the bucket are expected to work their way up to higher recognition through success. However, there is history of Cerebrocrustaceans whose failures are well known enough that they are “unofficially” given even smaller access to resources.
There are some Cerebrocrustacean whose measurement of intelligence are less material and more philosophical. They are not well respected.

do the species of altuyulur have a form of currency? sorry if this was asked before ^^
Don't be sorry, and yes and no, while it does exist its not the most common thing/widespread.
maanuls, as well as sedentary kyhuines colonies, are structured to be self-sufficient when it comes to basic needs (food for example) and will distribute it evenly to everyone. If they want something from another colony that they don't produce themselves, they will barter. within the same colony, it's common to see people barter things.
But if they don't have something good enough to barter with someone else they will use primitive money equivalent, that system isn't widespread it's more common in large sedentary colonies and ones that neighbor it.
But some nomadic kyhuine populations might also use that currency, they sell their crafts/goods in exchange for the currency and then move to another village to buy a specific thing, for let's say some semolina equivalent for example, something they cannot produce by themselves from being nomadic. while they use the currency, if they can just barter they will barter. It's not uncommon for nomadic groups to move from one village to another for various reasons, they're welcome to come. Friendships form in those times despite cultural differences, so when the group leaves but eventually comes back it's just them getting to see their friend again. but the relationship between sedentary and nomadic groups is a whole other subject.
Now what does that currency look like? it is not made of ore because to them it would just be a waste of it, maanuls will use shells! the shell they commonly use are Cowrie shells although some northern colonies (if they have currency) might use different ones (hermit crab shell to name a few), and eastern ones might use colored clam shells. Kyhuines on the other hand might use teeth, in some places they will use fledgling teeth which is very odd to us. Fledglings are known to test their teeth on everything and anything and often lose them a lot (don't worry they grow back). they might use shells of fruits that are pierced so they can be stacked on a rope so its easier to count after.
(fledglings, is the state after being born as naked hatchlings. Both species kids will grow yellow coat with black/brown stripes, good examples to look at are baby emus and baby greater sage grouses. they will all have brown eyes at that state. here's a silly doodle to help you visualize. Left a kyhuine, right two maanuls)

WELCOME TO PLAYTOWN/POPPY PLAYTOWN AU-LORE AND BASIC INFORMATION.
(Yeahh...The name is ridiculous, but it is the one that best fits what I want to do.-)

The place where the unimaginable can become reality; where magic coexists with day to day and where the entire earth is a constant rough diamond in exploration,where things that one could only imagine in dreams can come true, where even something like a smile has power to turn in colours at this gray world..."

Who Is playtown?.
Unlike to what it might seem, Playtown IS NOT a Town, it's actually a continent discovered by explorer Elliot Ludwing in the year 17XX; but it remains with the original name that he gave it out of respect for his memory... And because the irony was so funny to them that they got used to the fact .
Playtown's Geography.
It also has several great capitals, cities and towns in coastal, mountainous, desert, industrial areas, forests, frosts and some skyislands in the clouds (How have they not flown away? I leave them with the doubt-).
Within the continent there are some regions (called "Great zones") of interest which are=
Main city (Great Capital).
Elliot's Height's (oldest zone).
GamesSquare.
PlayGround.
The forgoten Towns.

Its main currency is the playcoin, however in more rural areas galiostro crystal is still used (a specific type of crystal that functions as a quasi-infinite energy receptor, and which of course still maintains constant use in the territory).
His main language (for the convenience of the script) is English (although it can vary depending on how much he wants to make a comic in Spanish, and if someone who speaks another language makes a drawing he should not strictly stick to English); accents are welcome.
The native language (most frequently spoken on the Sky Islands or Forgotten Towns) is called Toynabe.
Magic in Playtown?
As mentioned above, magic is an innate element in the playtown continent; something in which Ludwig in his research and expeditions stood out as an authentic "Serendipity" to him, which caused many of the natural phenomena typical of the continent; such as the islands of the sky that remain constant above it or that the climate in some sectors can change up to 16 times per year.
In the only places where this element seems to follow the conditions of the rest of the world is in the places where there are large fields of poppies (which has given rise to thinking that this flower has canceling properties of it).
Currently and due to the earth's own influence, all inhabitants have the ability to use magic and regulations have been made so that it does not get out of control.
How is it classified the magic users?
Although in Ludwig's time he looked at his surroundings with fascination; For other contemporary explorers they were simply classified as "good people" and "bewitched people"; To date, normalization and various investigations by Leith Pierre (successor of Elliot's investigations about the continent) gave rise to the current classification, which has 6 classifications of magic users; which are=
Magicians:
Focused on laws and classification studies.
Descendants of great academics and "good people" who found a way to make sense of magic under complex systems of spells, mantras and the academic class system in order to have permission to use it freely; usually they specialize in the theoretical field, regulation, tax rulings and head the Playtown legal system.
To externalize their magic they use wands.
Alchemists:
focused on progress and sciences.
Descended and interested in workers who tried to import various refined non-native materials from the continent and make them work; They have found a way to mix magic with technologies; and in turn, bringing back the branch of alchemy from the past.
They share a hybrid system between academic and practical to have permission to use it freely.
In general, they tend to focus on heavy jobs, such as mechanics, construction and experimentation; and in rare cases in pharmacy or economy.
To externalize their magic they use alchemical circles on watches or embroidery.
Shamans:
focused on physical and mental health.
knowledgeable about the body and mind of a person to the point of being able to decipher many diseases before they manifest themselves. Although it is common for them to dedicate themselves to medicine regardless of the type of education they had; It is said that to identify a true shaman you must ask them for a prediction.
They usually dominate in the branches of medicine, nursing, psychology, psychiatry… and for some reason in divination.
To externalize their magic they use cards.
Exorcists:
focused on religion and spirituality.
The great exponents when explanations do not exist and the world beyond entertainment becomes present and calms the spiritual needs of people; They usually have a type of cloistered education and many dogmatically prefer to remain celibate.
Over time they have gained enough influence that some have enough influence to join the branch of magicians.

To externalize their magic they use jewelry with unique engravings.
Witchers:
descendants of original inhabitants of the continent and focused on conservation and nature.
They are the only ones who refused to enter the system, not much information is told beyond the rumors of their abilities with the paranormal dealings and anecdotes of several encounters of exorcists and disappearance of soldiers in their territories.
They are the only ones who don't need any external element to externalize magic, however a witch will always have a familiar.
Cursed:
originally a punishment for those who used to use their magic in destructive ways by being stripped of their magic; and now it is given a military design thanks to the discovery of "the doctor."
That discovery was that he discovered that when a body is of its magic it gains resistance and strength beyond imagination; and thanks to various experiments, the degree of controlling and transmuting the user of it according to their range is reached.
Their education takes the boarding school and academy system in equal parts.
It is common to see them dedicated to various military, police, navy… etc. branches. Although there is the case that when they desert they go to witch territory.
