I clicked on that wikipedia link you posted for H. fleischmanni and was surprised to see that the section talking about the frog’s natural predators was titled “enemies” instead of “predators.” The word “enemies,” at least to me, seems strange in this context because it seems to anthropomorphize the frogs, which as far as I’m aware is something zoologists try to avoid doing with animals. Is there a scientific reason for “enemies” to be used here, as opposed to “predators”?
Regrettably, a huge number of problems of this kind have been built into Wikipedia by the Wikipedia Education Foundation-supported courses. Students carry out an 'assignment' that involves a dramatic expansion to a given wikipedia page based on any literature they can find. That revised page is then subjected to 'peer review' by their classmates. But because they are unfamiliar with (1) the literature, (2) the contents of other wikipedia pages, and (3) how wikipedia actually works, the resulting pages are often full of misinformation, redundancies, and weird formulations.
You have accurately identified one such idiosyncrasy. 'Enemies' was a very common formulation for 'predators' in the 1800s and early 1900s, but we have largely left it behind, for precisely the reason you say, and hence it sounds jarring to our ears. In this case it is a minor problem (you should have seen how the Paroedura masobe page looked before I cleaned it up), but irksome nonetheless.

I have sooo many questions abt the reincarnation au.
1. Does bot contracts stay through each incarnation, the first one-Where bill is a familiar and has a physical body is there but what about the marriage one along with the bill tattoo
2. If the second-marriage- contract stays does the bill-shaped tattoo stay as well and is it like the birthmark where it pops up in different places?
3. Is dipper being an illusionist the same in each incarnation?
4. Does dipper gain all his memories of each life or just the first dippers memories?
5. How many years between each incarnation (other than the 18 years after he’s born)?
6. Can the reincarnation spell be redacted if dipper no longer wants to be reincarnated?
7. Does dipper ever gain his memories before meeting bill(and if he does, does he psyche himself up to be some sort of hero that is destined to protect humanity, but slowly realises his past self fell in love so now hes screwed/pissed)?
Thats it! Chapter six was soo good and my suggestion is ‘Silent Devotion’ as the ao3 name!! Have a good day💕💕
The first contract - the familiar one - definitely! The marriage contract is also.. mostly in place? Reincarnation makes some of the terms wibbly.
No tattoo for the reincarnations - Bill's gotta reapply it if he wants to slip the ol' wedding circle back on.
Maybe? Or maybe not!
Dipper gets all the memories back eventually - but his first life is always going to be the most clear and powerful. That's where he started after all!
The time between death and rebirth could be anything from near-instantaneously to a few decades. Depends on what's going on in the afterlife.
Bill almost certainly made the reincarnation contract pretty wiggle-proof. There's no way he's just letting Dipper escape.
That being said, Dipper's probably figured out a way to get out if he really wanted to. He hasn't taken it yet, and may not ever!
He could get the memories back pre-Bill, for sure! This is actually a pretty interesting premise, too; A Dipper who wonders how the FUCK he could EVER fall for such an evil conniving jackass, only to finally meet Bill and have that 'Uh Oh' moment.

Sure Jude might be "media trained" but also look at the woman(and man but mostly woman) who raised him. You think she's going to let him go out there and make a fool out of himself like these other players?
