What is Ms. Orange about?
After moving to a safer city, a woman finds out that she and everything else around her is fictional. Wishing for a peaceful life and wanting to be free from a superior being's control, Orange will try to stop the author from developing a story for the book, since a plot would mean that her whole life is already decided for her and no action she takes will ever be her own. With the help of a group of teenagers, she will try to achieve her goal by using her knowledge to subvert clichés. At the same time, the author will insert any conflict into the story with the aim that Orange eventually gives up and fully submits to the role that has been planned for her.
It's a fantasy novel with science fiction and metafiction elements, and it is mostly filled with comedy. The main themes are reality vs. fiction, obedience vs. rebellion and adolescence.

Musings on Cyno/Alhaitham/Candace + language
.
Candace tells Cyno he sounds like a textbook when he speaks in the desert tongue. More identifiably rainforest than passing merchants or even some scholars. Cyno confides that Cyrus never told him from where in the Sands he's even from; no tribe to seek out, no dialect to learn from, no folktales or traditions to even remember.
Candace starts helping him learn the Aaru dialect since. "Lending" it to him. Maybe Aaru Village wasn't the home he was born in, but she made sure it was the second home he was always welcome in.
.
Cyno taught Alhaitham simple Matra code when he was Acting Grand Sage. "Status check", "ok", and so on, in case of emergencies. Alhaitham first uses this in the Grand Sage office after a long day; stress had stolen from him speech and sign and writing, leaving behind weak taps and scratches of "escape needed".
Cyno starts asking "status check" more often since. Still in code. Even after he returned to being Scribe, even during meet ups with friends, an escape to silence can still be necessary.
.
Alhaitham asks Candace why she writes to him in Vedanagari script in personal letters. Her calligraphy is more stilted compared to her writing in Deshret script. Candace admits she craved a connection her father who was an Akademiya scholar; she couldn't spend much time with him growing up due to her Guardian training.
Alhaitham starts writing more letters to her since. Longer letters. About the Akademiya, calligraphy, and maybe someone who knows what it's like to seek your parents through written word.

What could be consider laws of the multiverse?
Or is there no such thing?
Aight aight
Let's go, explanation for time
For this one I will speak as creator
This is infos I've shared before on my site, and I got the greenlight to share it here !
Reminder that @neonross was the og creator of Out of Bounds and I am merely one of the artist and writers ( and alternatively the lore gremlin that make sure everything is smooth good lore lol ( so for lore clarification yeh I'm the good person to ask haha))
So here are the "laws" of the multiverse and how it works in wttmv specifically !
Those rules apply only in our story, but anyone who wants to use those concepts are welcome, of course ! Neon Ross's og intent was to have rules flexible enough for people to make characters and have fun with the concepts, but we don't mean to be an autority of any kind and ruin people's fun... Anyway, explanation time
It's not really "laws" so much as rules for ourselves and for our story, to give it nuances and stakes and the right amount of lore scratching complexity
Some characters however might tell you that these are laws lmao
✨Out of Bounds ✨
___-Lore Guide-___
Out of Bounds (OOB) is a realm existing beyond the multiverse, operating by its own rules and devoid of time. This guide provides insight into OOB's nature, its role in the multiverse, and the mechanics governing its interactions.
Nature of Out of Bounds
Definition :
• OOB is a space outside of alternate universes, akin to the Void Realm in Towags where forgotten characters and places reside.
• Awareness of this space is limited, known only to those who reside within or encounter its inhabitants.
Television :
• Floating televisions within OOB display AUs, acting as viewports or portals for interaction.
• Televisions serve as a primary means for Multiversers to observe and interact with AUs. ( While it is the primary way, note that there are exceptions and other ways to travel )
Shows :
• We call "show" the stories within the multiverse. Includes the Original, Variants, Alternate Universes.
• The Original cannot be touched or interacted with by anyone.
• Variants are copies of the original with very minor changes (art style, design, head canons). They can be interacted with on varrying degree, depending on the creator of the variant will.
• AUs are copies of Welcome Home with major or noticeable changes, from the story, to the characters and their designs.
Vintage Tapes :
• AUs are stored within vintage tapes, with the film inside representing the universe's timeline.
• Tapes categorize AUs into Fixed and Flexible, depending on the level of interaction allowed by the creators of each AUs.
Interference Mechanics :
• Interfering with Fixed AUs poses risks, as altering their storylines can lead to universe corrupt and/or collapse.
• Flexible AUs allow more interaction, often featuring crossovers and Y/N scenarios.
Out of Bound Spaces
Channels :
• Spaces integral to the multiverse system, including the Observer's TV room, the Archives, and Admin's film room.
Shows :
• The AUs themselves, contained in the multiverse, then OOB
Lost Media :
• Spaces not categorized as channels or tapes, such as the Keeper's domaine, Trader's space, and Stitcher's atelier. (Often time those are kind of like shells of dead/collapsed/modified AU, or pocket dimensions)
Pillars of Creation :
• Vast space outside of the multiverse, a galaxy-like zone full of stars, that is said to be where the creators of AUs reside. Very few characters go so far in the OOB.
In between :
• The void between the AUs. It is devoid of breathable air, often dark and lightless as well. Some multiversers are unaffected by the lack of air, but stay careful ! We don't know what lurks or leaks in the in-between
Diagram made by Bloomenvogel and Neon Ross for the Out of Bound as we see it in WTTMV
Tumblr media
Note : this diagram applies to wttmv, but feel free to use I with your characters if you want ! Just like all of those rules, we made those to help make the story as a whole
Out of Bound Inhabitants
Natives of OOB :
• The Out of Bound is often said to have a mind of its own... It will sometimes create its own variants of the core cast, for reasons still obscures to this day. Notable characters born from the OOB : Observer, Courier, Messenger
"Refugies"
• Cast or OC characters that had their worlds destroyed/corrupted/collapsed, and who are left to wander in the multiverse. Most often they will end up in Peacekeeper's domaine until they can be rehomed in a flexible tape or new universe, or adapt to the Out of Bounds.
• A character that adapts to the Out of Bounds will then be called "Multiverser" along with the native of OOB
• Characters considered "refugies turned multiverser" in wttmv : Peacekeeper, Filante, Trader, ShopKeeper, Watcheye, Stitcher, Croupier
Multiversers :
• Multiversers are the inhabitants of the Out of Bounds. Often times, they are anomalies that have developped specific abilities allowing them to reside or survive in the Out of Bounds. Those abilities often includes being able to travel to multiple flexible tapes, but not always. A multiverser will almost always be a variant of a cast character, and rarely, if not ever, a y/n or fan oc. (If you wonder why y/n and ocs are excluded from being multiversers specifically, it's because Y/N is at its core a you self insert, but *you* are supposed to be viewers in the story. It's fine when in a pocket universe like Keeper's and Trader, a y/n can exist there, but in the oob it could causes some problems of logic with viewer influence and control, or the focus of the story could go astray to fit a y/n, which is not a story we want to tell. It kinda goes for ocs too)
__________________
I tried to say as much as I could without much spoilers... For the reminder, I already explained the main, general chronology of wttmv on the site
Ik, ik, it's a bit of a hassle to go search and look and all. Tbh the site is kind of a way to give a bit of a treat for the really big fans who are ready to go on a separate site to get lore lmao /lh
But now I get to ramble here too ! Hurray !
TLDR :
OOB is big and weird. The AUs and Variants can be interacted with only if allowed by the creators. Multiversers are the weird cast variants living in the oob. The OOB is kinda like an onion, it has layers. Most characters always stay in the multiverse part.

Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4
[ID: a digital, sketchy comic of sklonda and pok from fantasy high in four pictures. in the first, a beer glass is in the middle, and around it snippets of sklonda's thoughts. one is of her doing paperwork, another of her holding her head, another hectic one of a gun, her looking back and her terrified eye, and the last one of her face angry. in the second, sklonda is sitting at the bar and looking to the left as someone off screen says, is this seat free? on the other side of the bar are the bartender's legs and an ominous shadow extending from them. in the third, pok is leaning with one arm on the bar and looking flirtily; the hand on the bar is fidgeting, and the other is in his pocket. in panels next to it, sklonda looks him up and down with a neutral expression. in the fourth, pok smiles cutely and sklonda finally returns the smile, motioning to the barstool next to her and saying, as you can see. End ID]

"are you asking me or making me?" is soooooo interesting to me because i think armand only asks it when he can't gauge whether he's letting louis down. it's barely even sexual - it's a hail mary. it's a show of trust, indirectly admitting that he wants to do something other than what louis expects of him, but that he's willing to obey louis anyway, for the sake of their relationship. it's sort of heartbreaking watching them at the sacré-cœur, because if louis had said "i'm making you" armand would've done it in a heartbeat. he would've taken it as a show of committment on louis' part, and he wouldn't have betrayed him. but louis takes the question just as an expression of disagreement, and so he doesn't play the game. ironically, he respects armand's independence too much to make him turn madeleine if he doesn't want to. and so armand isn't convinced of louis' commitment to him, and he betrays him.
and by the time we see them in san fransisco, louis knows what the question means now, and answers "no, arun, i'm not asking" without question. and armand accepts it without complaint, even as it pains him. companionship really is the most important thing in the world to armand, just like it is for lestat, and he's willing to do any number of horrible things to louis and himself just to keep him as a companion, just like lestat. louis' biggest mistake is not realising how to use that to his advantage sooner.

My take on a distant future AU (that depends on Aaravos sacrificing so much energy into finally ensuring Leola's return that he has to abandon his mortal form for a bit - much to her heartbreak) and so
Tumblr media
I have no idea how to connect all of these things and have a few vague ideas about who the New Gang is (one of them is a Moonshadow/Sunfire elf with a human grandma, who works for the Katolis Historical Society as a tour guide and she is e x h u s t e d)
There are so many more humans that figured out how to connect to a primal source, but it's like a small rural town's worth because it's still very hard to connect and requires a lot of introspection.
I'm trying to decide if Leola has just one child (named after Callum) or if she has two (named after Callum and Claudia). She's also looking after one of the New Gang, who is also in a coma. But because she connected to the Star primal and she couldn't handle the depths of Infinity, and not because of The Thing that knocked out all the elf kids under 10.
Zym is going strong as the Dragon King and is pretty well adored. Especially since Thunderfall is a thriving integrated city at this point.
And of course, aside from a Molly Gru-esque "How dare you come to me now, when I am this??? (burnt out and exhausted and lonely)" response to his return, Leola makes a pretty clear threat regarding Aaravos and his grandchild(ren).
Basically a "If I even hear a hint that you are pulling destructive stings for my child(ren) that you did for me, I will personally put you in a pearl myself and I will bind myself to it because I know how. Anyway! Humans figured out how to capture an obscura reflection! They put mirrors in a tiny box! I have mourned so many human friends that I am about to snap! The light in side me is dying! I really need you to just be my dad right now or I am going to lose it!"
There's a Rayllum grandchild running around as the new guardian of the Moon Nexus. Her name is Odette. (Which I. Realize now is ironic name choice with the whole "moon touching the lake" thing and was not deliberate on my part but I'm sticking to it. Give her eleven swans I guess)

OH BOY here we g-
Metis' birthday is March 9th! And her favorite flowers are sunflowers.
Metis is Greek in origin, as her mother's family is from the underground city in Athens, Greece. She was named as such because it means wisdom and skill, and it was something her mother wanted her to have. (Lore wise, it's because she's named after the mother of Athena, and my rp partner and I have a theme going on there that we will reveal in good time.)

A Follow-Up to Tov’s Round 3 Log: Himei’s Perspective of the end of Round 3 to the end of Round 4
"Tov!" The scream was ripped from somewhere deep in Himei's chest, and still it couldn't be heard over the raucous roars of the crowd. The world seemed to rip apart at the seams around her. Contestants, viewers, guards, and guardians alike swirled around her like a raging storm. A group of gamblers in the back of the overlook were spitting in rage, crying out how the competition was rigged, it's rigged! He had it! Someone had thrown up at the sight of the gore on stage, and others around them pushed and crowded against each other to get away from the foul odor. An alien nearly trampled right over Tov's head in the crush, and Himei cried out in indignation and panic, dropping to her knees to try and shield Tov's unconscious form.
"Tov?" She shook her gently. Nothing. Cursing, Himei wrapped one arm around Tov's shoulders and hooked the other underneath her knees. If there was one good thing about Tov's genes in this situation, it was how light she was. And if there was one good thing about Himei's modeling career, she didn't lack in muscle mass.
Faintly, Himei could hear her company for the night, Guardian Iquia and Halo, calling for her in the frantic crowd. She didn't care to try and find them. She had more important things to do.
Cassio was difficult to find, but when Himei finally came across Tov's guardian, it was obvious Cassio had been tracking them down, too. Himei was briefly baffled by how Cassio knew where to look before Tov's metal wristband glinted under the light when Himei adjusted her in her arms.
Then she had an inkling.
"Help," Himei wheezed, arms trembling with exertion. Tov might've been light, but hauling her up and down several flights of stairs in search of Cassio was no easy task. "Help her. Get her out. Don't let her come to see the next round."
If anyone had overheard that, Himei probably would've been laid out into a similar state as Tov. Humans shouldn't order aliens around. Ever.
But if it bothered Cassio, she didn't say anything. The situation at hand was too urgent for that.
"Get..." she repeated as Cassio took Tov into her long, pale arms, a mimicry of a human's. "Get her out of here. Please get..."
"Thank you," Cassio interjected, calm but firm, "for your help. I will take it from here."
Cassio disappeared as fast as she'd come to stand before Himei, and Himei trailed after her uselessly. She tried to see them over the crowd, but she was too short and the crowd was too thick.
The last glimpse she caught of Tov were her limp feet dangling over Cassio's arm, adorned in black fit for a funeral.
Tallis was with her the night before her round, having snuck over. He peered at Himei from behind his uneven braids, deep green eyes round and observant.
"What?" she eventually asked. Red indents were pressed into her arms where they rested on the little kitchen island.
Tallis scratched his bare shoulder awkwardly, legs criss-crossing where he sat on Himei's (temporary) bed. "It's just been a hard day."
She smiled ruefully, though the bitterness wasn't directed at him. "Every day of this has been hard and it's only the beginning." A pause. "But I know what you mean. That was... hard to watch."
She said it like she was disturbed by it just the right amount. Not so disturbed that she'd come back to her quarters feeling ill, bursting into tears the second she closed the door behind her. When they were kids, she might've been more vulnerable with this sweet, honest boy she loved so much.
But they weren't kids anymore.
"He was my friend," Tallis murmured, his hands fidgeting in his lap. "I really thought he was going to win. I thought I'd get to talk to him again. Or... something. I don't know what I thought."
A sad laugh bubbled up in Himei's throat. "I liked him too. And Moran. Sweet Moran." She covered her sweaty forehead with her hand. "Everything feels so real all of a sudden. Before, I didn't... I just, I didn't... I didn't think."
Tallis nodded, mouth open in a slow inhale. "Neither did I." His eyes had a sort of shine to them now. "Now I might lose you in a day."
"Hey." Himei pushed herself off the counter and sat on the bed next to Tallis, bumping his arm with hers. "You're not going to lose me. Not now." She smiled. "Worry about your round, not mine." It was said in a joking tone, but she meant it. She did.
Tallis sank onto his side to rest his head on her lap, his face twisted in anxiety. "I think I'm gonna lose, Himei."
The very thought of it made her gut plummet like a stone. "No. Tal, of course not. You're more talented than I am, you won't lose. Don't even say that." She picked at the elastic in a loose braid and started to redo it to keep her shaking hands occupied.
Tallis was silent, which meant he disagreed but didn't want to tell her. He never even disagreed with her outright. Not once. Sometimes she wished he'd stand up for himself more with her.
Min was cold. Always cold.
Until the very moment she wasn't.
For a few minutes, just a few, Himei forgot where she was. The performance came alive beneath the flashing lights. Min, for the first time Himei had ever seen, came alive. Scathing looks and tense, sharp moves turned to bright, unpracticed grins and free steps and spins. Something about her suddenly seemed almost shy as she sang and danced her way right into hopeful, unfamiliar territory.
Min was alive for just a few minutes in her life.
Then the life left her eyes in a second, as if it had never been there in the first place.
Himei stood, stunned, her hands still gripping Min's. She let go in a panic when she tasted blood in her mouth, and she spluttered, barely registering the thunk of Min's body hitting the ground. She stood rooted to the spot. There was blood clumping her eyelashes. Droplets of blood had splattered onto her arms and hands. There was blood in her mouth.
She coughed and gasped, dark eyes stuck wide open. She barely registered the sounds of the crowd that seemed so deafening during every round she'd seen so far, or the click of a collar around her neck.
Being escorted back to the contestants' quarters was a blur of red-tinted vision and ringing ears. Only when the guards led her down the hall and towards the washrooms did she register something other than the taste of metal.
Tov stared at her with wide, shocked eyes. She was still wearing a patient's gown. She could have been aimlessly wandering with nothing to keep her mind off the round.
Himei made a choked sound and spit for what must have been the third time to try and get the taste out of her mouth. Red stained the spit that stuck to her lower lip.
"I won," she said blankly. The guards gave her a nudge into the washroom, and before they could close the door, she uttered once again, "I won."
The door shut behind her.

actually thinking very hard about gerome/yarne specifically virion!yarne because hes my favorite but also what if when we were kids i was your only friend and confidant in a country where everyone despised your family on account of your traitor father and you were looked down upon due to your taguel lineage and then your parents died and oh fuck so did mine and you were left with nothing but a dead culture and rule over people that hate you but i stayed by your side through it all not only as your knight and guardian but also as your friend and also we were both boys. what if we had to flee our home after it fell to risen and i watched as you succumbed to your anxiety over being the last taguel and sole heir to your house but i was powerless to comfort you in my own grief and then i lose sight of you for years as we travel back into the past and when we finally reunite things are can never be how they were before but i dont need them to be i just need you to be okay now. and we were both boys. my vision do you see it

it is literally 4 in the morning and I can't fully articulate this but like. I spent a whole lot of time trying to work out who the "third" in Rise + Fall is (given the 'two works well, three complicates things' rule in Fall) mostly because its the sort of thing that works really well for parallels (example: my insane Hook theory). Obviously there has to be a Third for the Prequels twins (since Soman wouldn't've made it that big of a deal if there wasn't), just as there is a third for the TSY and TCY twins: Tedros is the Third in TSY, and the Complicator Of Things himself - Aric - is the Third in TCY, but there's a lot more candidates for Prequels: you could make cases for Hook, the Pirate Captain, Pan, and Vulcan, from my memory. But none of them really stay around long enough for them to be the third, so I was struggling to pick one out that worked well.
Based on how the Rule Of Three is described, the Third has to be someone that gets in the way of two others, who are going to be the twins, and needs to do a significant amount of Complication. Aric is literally the blueprint for this (potentially also Evelyn, but also not Evelyn, for Reasons). So anyway looking back on it the Third in Rise and Fall is SO OBVIOUSLY the Storian itself and im mad I didn't clock this earlier
It's present through both prequels, where most of the other candidates aren't. It DEFINITELY gets in the way and DEFINITELY does some significant Complication, looking at the end of Fall. If I were to reach slightly, the first image we see in Rise and Fall is of the Storian physically between the brothers, mirroring how it ends up coming between them emotionally, and I like to think that's intentional (Book 2's cover does this as well).
More importantly, there's another part to the Rule Of Three pattern with the sets of twins that isn't explicitly stated, but is consistent between all three: the Third always replaces one twin to form the Two with the other. in TSY, this happens with Tedros and Agatha (predominantly). In TCY, this happens with Aric and Japeth - this is why Evelyn can't be the TCY third in my opinion, since she doesn't replace either twin, and breaks this pattern. in Rise and Fall, this happens with the Storian and Rafal. There isn't really a pattern to whether the Good/Evil twin gets replaced, unless you want to go into some very very very bit leaps ive thought about regarding the whole "was Rhian II evil or good before becoming Rafal, and does that also affect Japeth doing the same thing" thingy but I could not fully explain that stuff ever. There is probably so much more nuance I could add to this if only I reread TSY but that will happen Some Other Time

WAIT WAIT. do plants literally need love to survive???? Tesla died so quickly in part because she was neglected in her needs as a person -- did the twins only survive because Rem showed them that there was a place they COULD survive? Did Tesla's body just go "there's no place for me here" and shut down? The dependent plants only survive because people care for them and tend to their needs. Are independents the same, just with different needs?
