Little Cat by @lady-dimimi when I tell you every single chapter of this fic has me giggling and squealing and kicking my feetsies - it's so sweet, the idea of Larissa turning into a cat (and having such gay panic) is something I never knew I needed but now cannot live without. so well-written and every time a new part comes out I literally drop everything to read it.

Life Eternal by @milfsloverblog I've linked the first part but there are 4 parts in total which can be found in her masterlist. oh boy. I have never sobbed this hard at a fic before. I cry quite easily anyway but something about the beautiful way this was written just had my stomach in knots and tears streaming down my face. but I would read it over and over again because it's just that good.

Hot Chocolate on ao3 by AllTheMoreSapphic, Yennefer Payne (madamspellmans_met_tet) Larissa Weems is a virgin and Zelda Spellman is a dominatrix and jfhlkjdshagkdj this fic has me in a chokehold okay I cannot explain it you just have to read it, you won't regret it I promise. it's so well-written and there's just something about it that scratches an itch in my brain.

Heat by @rippersz a (so-far) 2 part series with a third part perhaps coming. quite literally one of the hottest things I have ever read, dear lord. jaw-droppingly hot. but seriously all fics by @rippersz are an absolute delight to read, one of the most talented writers I have ever had the pleasure to come across. would devour anything they write.

Find What You Desire by @pro-weems-places super hot smut with a hint of fluff and just the best vibes overall, I re-read this one so often because it's absolutely amazing. @pro-weems-places characterization of Larissa always makes me fuzzy inside, one of my favorite writers truly <3

push me gently (into love) by @yourlocaldisneyvillain one of my fav fav fav writers, her writing is so unique and so immersive. and this fic is EVERYTHING. so silly, so much fluff, some of the most divine smut you'll ever come across. Larissa deserves her goth gf okay??

Anticipatory Grief by @wh0re4women such an amazing author, all of her fics are incredible. but god this fic HURT. had me bawling like a baby. and you know what? I loved every second of it. so well written that you can feel the grief coming off the page in waves. highly recommend if you need a good cry.

Warmth of Your Doorways by @alexusonfire and @daydream-cement have I mentioned this fic multiple times already? yes. and I will continue to do so until I'm blue in the face because I love Jane Murdstone and I love the writing and I love the plot and this fic will always have a place in my heart and my brain. <3

Shapes of Love by @dianneking Morticia x Larissa wherein Larissa is a sex worker and is hired by Morticia. this fic literally has everything I could ever want in a fic and it's finally (and kind of sadly tbh) complete - queue me re-reading this gem over and over again (all of their writing is fire though by the way)

99% of the time, absolutely. I appreciate them so much, and want to express that, even if I'm a little overwhelmed and just end up saying "Thanks so much for reading!" Sometimes, however, if the comment strikes me as really negative or is trying to start some kind of debate that I don't want to get involved in, I'll just mark as read and move on.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I don't really write angsty endings! (Usually just angsty middles, and third act twists...) Probably my Veronica Mars fic, We Do Not Flinch, because even though the ending is definitely hopeful, not everything is fixed and the character death is not erased.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Um, basically all of them tbh! I love and reliably provide a happy ending. I guess I'll say Each Step Closer (On Our Way Together) because the whole thing is pretty light and the last section extra so.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Intellectually I know the answer is no. But I have gotten criticism, perhaps validly, about my portrayal of Peggy's emotions in Woman Borne, and also have gotten comments which express frustration with the choices my characters make, and that does feel hurtful in certain ways.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Ehhhhh, very, very lightly. Pretty much just gauzy linguistics and minimal mention of actual body parts - soulmate smut 🤷‍♀️

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Haha, I've written a bunch of AUs that borrow from other fandoms and have a lot of fun with those, but I've only written one partially completed Buffy/Bones crossover

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I think that some of my fics have been included in the kind of automatic sweeps that republish on fake fic sites or ebook sites, but not by an actual person as far as I know.

No, although I'd be happy to give permission if someone wanted to!

Reunion dialogue and chapter plotline was excellent BUT I think I would have felt more satisfied if Kade and Tyril (and maybe the nespers) had worn their sad or smiling faces the whole time, the flat expressions just made the dialogue feel a bit ungenuine for me

It would have been really sweet if Tyril had struggled to focus on fighting the monster and kept on staring at MC just to make sure he wasn't imagining it or something

Someone tell me — was the bedsheet the right choice??? I've never really cared much about Aerin, his capture was more of a 'I don't want him fighting against me if I don't have to have him fight against me' kind of thing, but I did choose the 'maybe I'll visit you' option just in case the seduction is needed to unlock a choice again

As for your question, I'm assuming by "snap" you meant "Degeneration"?

If so, well... At the rate Hauyne's going, it won't be long before she enters the first stage. And the first stage is usually harmless! Most Ancients are in the first stage and can live out their lives like this no problem, but the point of no return is when they go into the second stage. And how their second stage unfolds depends on their emotional state.

If they were filled with despair, hatred, rage and all that negativity when they enter the second stage, they'll turn into the monsters found prowling around the Soul Den/Third Layer. Otherwise, it's a normal but irreversible transformation into a Pokémon.

As for why I only addressed Hauyne, it's because Viviere and her are different aspects of the same person. Hauyne has the electric and half of her original Artemis' fire powers, whereas Viviere has usurped the ghost affinity that her original had acquired via her resurrection and the other half of her original's fire powers.

That, and also because Viviere canonically didn't survive Chapter 15 since she rejoined with Hauyne to reform Artemis during the climax of the Platinum Route. Post-v13 Hauyne is actually a newly re-completed Artemis and not a split personality, but she chose to retain the name since it was the personality she identified the most with.

writing is like my late night activity even at home so it’s kind of part of my routine tbh?? like i do write during the day a lot don’t get me wrong but the heavy duty writing + brief editing + posting is 99% of the time done under the covers post skincare and in my pajamas HDKSJS so like whether i do it at home or on vacay it’s kind of the same in that sense!! it helps me wind down too so win win for sure. we’re going to switzerland and south france!! so in terms of staying cool we should hopefully be okay in switzerland because we’re staying near the mountains i’m p sure…south france on the other hand will be a doozy LMAOO but we were in spain during the heat wave in 2022 where the temps were reaching 44-46° celsius / 112-114° fahrenheit so hoping it’s not too much worse than that 😰

tfw I check out Webtoon FR because I was reading a series there (with my very rusty French, as much as I could), only to realize it is now a Daily Pass title :').

Last time I checked the French platform was... probably less than 2 weeks ago, and I never saw a freaking banner of a date??? Only the one that said "We are sorry for the inconvenience, but this title might become a DP series in the upcoming future" which basically EVERY single series that has finished there (not FR original, ig) has it. At least the US site informs you of this fact a month in anticipation?! (not every series runs with that luck because there have been some surprises from the US originals, which... dudes, come on, be equitative with the Korean AND the US ones...)

Like... it's frustrating because I wasn't that far away from the ending (I think I was already in the 30s out of 50 chapters, with my best understanding of the events), and I could tell where this was going to... (I also remember seeing a bit of the finale in the Korean site... before it was locked there too, months ago). BUUUUUUT I took priority over it from the US ones that were going to be DP later this week. I could have finished it earlier, sure... but since I started reading it after my burn out of those that were ALSO being DP in the LatAm site in May (and while I didn't read 37 series... Previously on BnHA: Hawks’s super-hot badass murder senpai Lady Nagant showed up to fire a cupid’s arrow into my heart, and a bunch of literal bullets into my son. Deku was all “oh shit it’s Hawks’s super-hot badass murder senpai, what do I do, let me think back to Hawks’s advice for a sec.” Flashback!Hawks was all “anyway Deku so if my super-hot badass murder senpai ever shows up you’re basically screwed so you’d better abscond the fuck out of there.” Present!Deku was all “lol idek why I flashed back to that conversation since I’m just going to do the exact opposite of what Hawks said” and charged directly toward Nagant because WHY NOT. Overhaul was all “waah I need to get back to my boss who I put in a coma out of love” and Nagant was all “jesus christ why did I even bring you here” and had a flashback to AFO who was all “ILU NAGANT IMMA GIVE YOU AN EXTRA QUIRK SO PLEASE CAPTURE DEKU FOR ME PLEASE AND THANKS” and yeah. Shit is all over the place right now and I love it.

Today on BnHA: All Might gets attacked by a pair of discount assassins and is all “Call an ambulance! ...BUT NOT FOR ME” and it’s really badass but also I really wish he would stop tempting fate like this. Lady Nagant is all “[casually flies around town shooting shit]” and I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t read an entire chapter of just that. Deku is all, “[gets shot (≥_<)]” and releases a giant Smokescreen which prompts En to show up. En is all, “( •᷄⌓•᷅ ) (⌣̀ Δ⌣́) ( •̀_•́ )σ (¬､¬) (눈_눈)” which I consider to be a high point of both the chapter and of my life. The chapter ends with Deku using the Third’s quirk to launch a bunch of random objects at Nagant so that he can jump up and grab her arm all sneaky-like, and I’m sure this is going to prompt another week’s worth of discourse that I don’t care about at all, but fuck it, I’m having a good time.

AHHHH I’M HYPED LOL. ANOTHER SHINY NEW QUIRK LOL SHOULD I PUT UP THE USUAL DISCOURSE DISCLAIMER

(ETA: so yeah, after thinking on it, I’m not gonna say “please no Deku discourse on my blog” this week, but I probably will ignore any discourse that does come my way though, just because I don’t have much interest in getting involved in what would probably be a pretty repetitive discussion. like, I can just sum up my opinions (which is what they are) here instead. in fact here they are lol:

1) I like the SIXQUIRKS and I like seeing Deku be a badass.

2) I also don’t think Deku is too OP. more like he’s exactly as OP as he needs to be at the moment, given that we’re approaching the end of the series. I expect the other kids will also be pretty damn OP when we see them fight again. we’re just at that point now where they’re all badasses (as well they should be; they’ve grown a lot and they deserve it). it’s just that Deku’s the one we’re getting to see right now.

3) of course I miss Kacchan and the others, but for me this vibes much closer to the MVA arc where even though I missed them, I was still having a blast (as opposed to the dark days of the Basement arc where I was pretty much losing it lol). like, even though Kacchan’s my favorite, I still love Deku a lot and this arc has been amazing for him getting to shine on his own (for like the first time, really).

4) y’all know I love the OFA plot and I’ve never been shy about that lol. I like all of the Vestiges a lot. Banjou and his over the top personality; En and his “guy you thought would be serious and :| all the time but is actually hyper-animated and ALL OVER THE PLACE” energy; Shiro who actually is a :| sort of guy lol; Three who I still expect will be fleshed out in a more detailed flashback at some point; and of course Two, who, well. you know what I think about him lol. Bakuverse is still on the table and I’m still hyped. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that we still have yet to see Two actually talk to Deku (as opposed to talking to the other Vestiges while Deku is distracted). did he lend him his power yet?? or is he still holding out?? either way it’s definitely going to be a Big Thing when it finally happens and I can’t wait to see it.

5) Lady Nagant is Everything and just because Deku grabbed her arm doesn’t mean the fight is over yet lol. Overhaul hasn’t come into play yet either. not to mention that even if the fight is over, the “where do we go from here” part still has me excited either way. her connection to Hawks and the HPSC is very intriguing and we’ve barely touched on that as of yet; she definitely has more of a role to play in this.

6) last but not least, I feel like every week the discussion is all about how much focus Deku’s getting, and how OP he is or isn’t, and OFA this and OFA that, but meanwhile I’m actually so invested in the character development here though?? the way Deku has distanced himself from everyone (except for the Vestiges, because of course they’re already dead so it’s not like they can die again lol)?? the way he’s pushing himself far too hard and we can see the shadows in and under his eyes, and the fact that he never smiles, and even All Might has remarked on how he isn’t taking care of himself at all?? the fact that he’s so single-mindedly obsessed with focused on stopping AFO?? the fact that he’s still the same sweet old Deku despite everything and was so kind to that fox lady with the umbrella, but there was also something so sad about that scene because it felt like a reminder of the type of hero that he wants to be, but that he’s not allowed to be right now?? because the stakes are too high and the world is falling apart?? and he feels like he’s the only one who can do something about it?? and that he has to be?? and that he is putting so much pressure on himself right now, and it’s absolutely too much pressure for any one person to bear, and I feel like no one is fucking talking about this lol goddammit.

anyway so yeah. I have feels about this, and every week that slow-burn angst is getting more and more intense behind the scenes, and I feel like it’s all going to hit a breaking point eventually. sooner rather than later. it really feels like a mirror of Katsuki’s post-Kamino arc. where all that angst was just churning below the surface for like twenty chapters and then it finally was like “okay it’s time” and it all came bursting out and we got the best five chapters of the fucking series (in my admittedly biased estimation lol).

basically, I know that most of fandom is billing this as either the “villain hunt” arc or the “solo Deku SIXQUIRKS fighting arc” or whatever. but for me, it’s always been and still is the Deku Angst arc lol. the cool fights are a sexy bonus (the worldbuilding less so because even though it’s interesting to see society at such a low point, it’s also very depressing and gets old pretty fast), but for me the thing that’s really keeping me engaged chapter after chapter is seeing Deku like we’ve never seen him before. seeing him all quiet and withdrawn and brooding and focused on AFO, AFO, AFO, and seeing that “he just doesn’t take himself into account” mentality taken to extremes. I am invested in that. I’m soaking up that angst each and every week, and I’m invested in seeing what comes of it. it’s a big picture thing. week to week this arc might just seem like a bunch of villain fight scenes, sure. but Deku’s emotional journey is the thread that’s going to carry this arc through from beginning to end, and for that I’m willing to be patient.

anyway that turned into a BIG OL’ RANT there but yeah! so those are my thoughts on the disk horse as it currently stands. and like I said, I’m open to discussion, but tbh I will probably just wind up repeating these same talking points endlessly so just a fair warning lol.)

After the past couple days of bullshit, going to work was not something I wanted to do.

I sat in my car, glaring at Vampiro, knowing I was already late for work. I could feel my anger rising to the surface as I loomed over at the brick building.

I didn't want to deal with customers, or really anyone, for that matter. But I also didn't want to be in the Trapp Haus. The thumping of club music off the walls was slowly driving me insane.

I was just... so done with everything.

I wanted one night of peace, one night of normal. I wanted one night to just lie in bed with my boyfriend and cuddle. I didn't think I was asking for much.

Colby's my boyfriend now.

I smiled at the thought, my body calming down for a second. I guess after all the crazy events that occurred recently, that was the only silver lining.

I groaned, slowly sliding my body out of the car, locking it with a click of my keys. I quickly ran towards Vampiro, shuffling in the back door quietly.

“You're late again.” Roger blinked, staring me down.

I sighed deeply. “Yeah, Roger, I am.”

He crossed his arms tightly, “This is the third time in a row.”

“Do you expect me to be early, like... ever?” I let out a dry laugh.

He shook his head, “No, but I expect you to be on time.”

We both turned to the kitchen door swinging open, Ronnie walking in nonchalantly.

“Do you need something?” Roger queried, glancing behind me.

Ronnie smiled innocently, “Just more shot glasses.”

I turned back to Roger, “Well, Roger, I'm usually on time. I'm just not having a great week.”

That's a fucking understatement.

“This past month alone you've been late almost ten times.” He stated.

“Okay... what are you going to do about it?” I deadpanned, glaring.

I could hear a tiny gasp from Ronnie as Roger stepped back. “Excuse me?”

“What are you going to do about it? You're not gonna fire me.” I dared.

He started, scrunching his face, “How do you know I wo-”

"Because who else is gonna put up with the terrible fucking pay and gross vampires on the daily? It's not like you got other people lining up to work here." I took a deep breath, looking directly into Roger's eyes. "I apologize for being late, it's not my intension. But tonight is not the night to fuck with me. Got it?"

A heavy silence fell over the three of us. Ronnie's mouth was hung wide open, clutching the shot glasses in her hands. Roger sucked his teeth, dropping his arms, and walking towards his office.

He called out. “Just try not to be late again.”

I smiled sarcastically. “Cool. Thanks Roger.”

Ronnie glided in front of me, mouth still hanging open, “Oh my God, who are you and what have you done with Jade?”

I rolled my eyes, “I'm in the worst fucking mood right now. I literally contemplated going home while I was sitting in the parking lot.”

“That bad of a day?” She frowned.

“No, but the week? Even worse.” I groaned, walking into the bar.

She followed right behind me, placing the shot glasses down. “Why? What happened? Oh wait, let me guess…”

I waited for her to guess, making a mixed drink for a customer.

She gasped again, “Oh my God, you and Colby broke up, didn't you?”

I furrowed my eyebrows, “What?”

“I can just tell that that’s what happened. He’s always given you so much stress, it would make sense that you would get tired of that.” Ronnie grinned, patting my shoulder, “Well since you’re single now, you should go out there and get a new vampire boyfriend. Show Colby what he’ll be missing.”

I snorted, “Ronnie, that’s not what happened.”

“What? Yes it is. This anger you have,” Ronnie waved her hand in a circle, “has ‘broken up with my vampire boyfriend’ written all over it.”

I puzzled. “That’s something that’s noticeable?”

“Oh, 100%, especially with you.” She noted.

I sassed. “Well, I hate to break it to you, but me and Colby are still together. Hell, we’re even closer now.”

“You’re lying. You guys broke up.” She rebutted, placing drinks on her tray.

I raised an eyebrow at her tone. “Why are you arguing with me about this? No, we didn’t.”

“Obviously you did.” She expressed, shrugging her shoulders.

I scoffed. “Why would you think that unless I told you so?”

“I just know you guys broke up. You went through something crazy this weekend and now are no longer together.” She declared, looking at me.

My face dropped, my body leaning away from her. “How… would you know that?”

“I can just tell, that’s all.” She walked away quickly, placing drinks down on a table nearby.

Why would she say I went through something crazy this weekend? How would she know that’s true?

I waited until she came back behind the bar to speak. “Colby and I are still together, so you’re wrong.”

“Okay, if you insist on lying to me,” she chuckled, “you should break up with him anyway.”

“What? Why? You were the one that was pushing me to get with him!” I hissed, wiping down the bar.

“I know, but I was wrong. Let’s be honest, he’s terrible.” Ronnie confessed, leaning against the counter.

I rested my hands on my hips, my voice low. “What the hell do you mean by that?”

“Think about it: ever since he came into your life, it’s gotten worse. You constantly come in here in a bad mood, complaining about something bad that happened on your days off,” she nodded. “Colby is to blame for all of that.”

“Stop talking about my boyfriend like that. He’s the only good thing I have in my life right now, actually.” I argued, pulling out a bottle of vodka.

She stepped towards me. “You should be honest with me.”

“I am being honest. Can we just move on?” I turned away from her, grabbing some shot glasses.

“You’re my best friend, Jade. You don’t need to lie. Friends don’t lie to each other.” She droned, monotone.

“I know, but I’m not-” I spun back to her, cutting myself off.

I blinked, my eyes glancing around Ronnie quickly. The flashy lights in the bar made it look like an aura had appeared around her, an almost yellow glow.

“What?” She cocked her head.

I closed my eyes hard, rubbing them softly. “Nothing.”

Fuck, I’m losing it.

“I’m just gonna step outside for a minute.” I responded.

She pursed her lips. “Alright, I’ll cover for you.”

I walked through the back and stepped outside into the cool air. I exhaled, resting my body against the brick wall of the building.

Maybe it was a guess. Maybe Ronnie assumed something happened between me and Colby and that’s why I was upset. But something about the way she was talking made it seem like she knew me and Colby broke up.

We didn’t… but we almost did.

And that’s what concerned me.

How the fuck would she know?

And did I really see an aura around her?

“You should be more aware of your surroundings.” A deep voice spoke.

I jumped back, glancing up at the man in front of me.

Max beamed at me, shuffling back slightly. “…wouldn’t want some random vampire to run up on you, now.”

I gritted my teeth, “What the fuck are you doing here?”

“I just figured I’d stop by, say hello.” He remarked, his hands behind his back.

I scowled. “You think I want to see you right now?”

He smirked lightly, “You didn’t mind seeing me a day or two ago… on our date.”

I stepped to him, getting in his face. “Don’t act like I went on that date because I wanted to.”

Max shot his hands up defensively. “What’s with the hostility?”

“You know exactly what you did, fucker,” I spat. “How dare you do that to Colby.”

“And what exactly was that?” He asked innocently.

“You made him dream that I was cheating on him. Like I would ever let you kiss me or take my blood.” I jeered.

His face turned serious, dark. “I could do both of those things still, you know.”

“Like hell you will.” I fumed.

His face relaxed, an almost mischievous look coming to his eyes. “How’d you know I made him dream about it?”

Fuck me.

I stammered. “W-We have cameras in our apartment. I saw him walk out into the living room and stand in the same place for three hours. And he stayed asleep for most of the day.”

“Yeah, my powers kind of do that to people.” He laughed.

“The cameras were the only way I was able to convince him it didn’t happen.” I doubled down.

He bit his lip, glancing at my eyes. “I have to ask, how did you know my powers were dream manipulation?”

Fuck. Me. Again.

“I don’t dream that way,” I commented. “And again, I wouldn’t let you drink my blood.”

“I guess that’s valid.” He snickered quietly, “But come on, are you really that upset with me about yesterday?”

“I’m actually holding back the urge to stab you.” I deadpanned.

He whistled. “Harsh.”

“Why did you do it? How did you do it? What was the point?” I questioned, crossing my arms.

“To have fun. Liven up your life a bit.” Max teased.

I exhaled. “Fuck you.”

“What? Life is meant to be a game. Especially if you’re like me and have been alive for 500 years, give or take.” He replied, sliding his hands into his pockets.

“You still didn’t answer how you did it.” I mentioned.

He hummed. “What do you mean?”

“You weren’t in the apartment. How did you get Colby to dream like that?” I inquired.

“My secret?” He got close to me, too close. The back of his hand grazed my skin, his eyes watching me, “Just a light touch does the trick. And then, I’m inside your head forever. Or at least for a couple days.”

“That’s fucked.” I muttered.

“Yeah, but it’s also fun.” He dropped his head, taking a step back as his eyes peered up at me, “I didn’t do it just to piss you off.”

I raised an eyebrow. “Oh really?”

“I also did it… because I like you.” He professed.

I huffed, staring up at the sky. “Are you kidding me?”

“No. I think you’re beautiful, and you shouldn’t be with Colby.” Max admitted.

“And be with you instead?” I let out a dry laugh, “I’d rather die.”

He sucked his teeth. “I can still arrange that.”

“Cute choice of words for someone that has a crush on me.” I got back in his face, almost chest-to-chest with him, “All that bullshit you did? Don’t do that ever again. If you come near Colby and hurt him like that I swear to God-”

Ronnie’s voice suddenly rang out. “Hey Jade? Can you come back in? I need help.”

Max and I turned towards Ronnie, her body peaking out the back door.

I cleared my throat, backing away from Max. “Sorry, Ronnie. Lost track of time.”

“I apologize. I didn’t mean to keep your friend for so long.” He smiled charmingly at Ronnie.

Ronnie stared at Max, her eyes narrowing. “I know you from somewhere.”

“Excuse me?” He asked.

“I know you. You look familiar.” She repeated.

“Well, that’s strange, because I don’t know you.” He assured.

“I definitely know you from somewhere…” She grumbled, strolling back inside after a moment.

Silence fell over the both of us. I continued to glare daggers at Max. His eyes met mine and he smiled.

“Well, I guess I’ll get going and let you get back to work.” He added, “I know when I’m not wanted.”

I murmured. “Clearly you don’t.”

His eyes drifted down me for a moment as I turned to head back inside. Then he stopped me, lightly grabbing my arm.

“Your necklace…” His eyes widened.

I jolted his hand off me. “What? What about it?”

“Um…” He shook his head, blinking his eyes, “Where did you get it?”

“I don’t know. My family gave it to me.” I quipped, “Are we done here?”

Max relaxed, his face normal again. Another smirk appeared. “Of course. Have a goodnight.”

I rolled my eyes, closing the door on him.

“He’s kinda cute.” Ronnie giggled, still standing by the door.

I scoffed, “For an asshole, sure.”

I tried to work for an hour, doing my best to keep my mind off of Ronnie and Max. With Ronnie assuming that me and Colby ended things, and Max showing up, I’ve had my fill of vampires and the drama they bring tonight.

All I wanted to do was go home and be with Colby, the only vampire that wasn’t an asshole to me.

I grunted loudly, dropping cups and shot glasses on my tray into the sink and yanking my apron off. “I’m fucking done. I’m going home early.”

“Why, what’s wrong? Is this about Co-” She began.

I interjected immediately. “If you bring up Colby one more time, I’m gonna smack you. Me and Colby are fine. It’s the rest of my life that isn’t. And you’re not helping. Tell Roger I got sick or something. Hell, I’ll text him when I get home.”

Ronnie retorted, rolling her eyes. “Jesus, there’s no need to be a bitch to me.”

“Yes, there is!” I ranted. “You have been up my ass all night about me and Colby breaking up when we haven’t. For whatever reason it’s in your head that we aren’t together.”

“Well, maybe I just think you and Colby shouldn’t be together anymore.” She complained.

I grabbed my bag, scrunching my face, “For what reason?”

“Because he isn’t good enough for you. You should be dating someone that cares about you. Like that guy outside.” She stated happily.

“What guy?” I questioned.

“The man you were talking to.” She disclosed.

“…Max? You want me to date Max?” I gasped, holding back a gag.

She nodded, a light smile on her face. “Yeah, he seems sweet. I saw the way he was looking at you.”

I started walking towards the exit, “Oh my God, we are not having this conversation. I’m leaving.”

Ronnie followed me out the door, stopping at the front of the bar. “I’m not gonna have anyone to help cover your shift.”

“Damn, that sucks to be you then.” I turned, smiling bitterly.

“You’re such a bitch.” Ronnie sneered.

“Like you haven’t been one too. I’m tired of dealing with you, this place, and all these fucking vampires.” I ripped my door open, throwing my stuff into the car. “Maybe I want one night in my life to not be about vampires!”

I jumped into the driver’s seat, revving the engine to life, and raced out of the parking lot.

It’s so funny to me that e/riels say gwynriel won’t happen because Gwyn was only introduced in the last book, as if it isn’t one of SJM’s favorite things to do to throw in a surprise love interest.

Rowan and Aelin? We don’t meet Rowan until the third book (4th if you count novella) and they’ve both had romances before each other.

Chaol and Yrene? The “set up” for a romance with Nesryn in Chaol’s bonus chapter only lasted for like 1/10 of the book before he ends up with Yrene.

Nesryn and Sartaq? Nesryn ends up with a character first introduced in Tower of Dawn.

Manon and Dorian? Manon isn’t even introduced until Heir of Fire and she and Dorian don’t even meet for the first time until 4-5 books into the series. (Same with Elide and Lorcan).

And tbh, even though they‘re a bit different from the other couples mentioned, this pattern is kinda present in Feyre and Rhysand’s relationship too. Feyre doesn’t meet Rhys until like 2/3 of the way through the book, and he plays a pretty minor role until Under the Mountain. And then Feyre goes back to Tamlin, and it’s supposed to be a plot twist when she actually ends up with Rhys in the later books. Like imagine reading acotar and thinking that Feyre can’t end up with Rhys because he’s only a secondary character in the first book lmao.

It’s pretty clear that Gwyn and Emerie will continue to be major secondary characters (or main characters) in the later books/novellas, so it’s not far fetched to believe they could both be love interests for characters in the Inner Circle (Azriel and Mor).

Yeeaaah… so this ended up turning out longer than I intended… but it’s a theory I felt like sharing nonetheless. Hopefully tumblr doesn’t eat this & if this is too long or odd to answer… don’t worry, I understand. I just wanted to share while it was in my head, ya know? So: Long Post Warning!

I am not 100% caught up on every chapter yet, but I do have a brief understanding of all the events up til now. So please forgive me if this has been revealed and I just don’t know about it yet.

Bell 🧚🏻 = wind spirit🌬🌪

Salamander (who honestly looks more like a dragon than a salamander so he’s gettin’ the dragon emoji) 🐲 = fire spirit 🔥

Undine 🌊 = water spirit💧

As far as I know, we don’t yet have an inkling of who the earth spirit will be or to whom he will “choose” to contract with.

Tbh, I have a some of feelings about possibilities surrounding the earth spirit…

Bell and Undine are both obviously women and I’m 96.8% sure that Salamander is a boy… but who knows, I also wouldn’t be the least bit freaking surprised if Tabata threw that back in our face and Salamander ends up being a girl like in Shrek (and on that note, I just need to ask, in Shrek 2 when Shrek and Donkey drank the Happily Ever After Potion, it’s described as “"Happily Ever After Potion maximum strength. For you and your true love. Drink of this potion and bliss will be thine, happiness, comfort, and beauty divine.” This stuff turned both Shrek and Fiona human while it turned Donkey into a pure white stallion… am I the only one that still gets peeved we never got an answer on wtf that stuff did to Dragon??? Or how it would’ve affected their dragon donkey hybrid babies??? That’s the only thing that irks me about Shrek 2… okay, whew, now that I’ve gotten that out, back to Black Clover theorizing)

Going by the assumption that Salamander is most likely a boy, it would stand to reason that the earth spirit has a good chance at being male as well like 2 female spirits, 2 male.

Salamander’s inspiration obviously comes from dragon lore, I can’t find one singularly specific mythology reference Tabata would have based Salamader on so I’m guessing Salamander is based on dragon lore.

Bell has, for the most part, 2 inspirations Tabata based her on. The main one being Sylphs have power over the skies and air. They've been delineated to have control over the wind and the clouds, and even have the ability to purify the air and control the weather itself. Sylphs are not officially from a specific type of mythology, but if they were to be categorized they’d qualify as European folklore, same as Undine and Gnome which will be explained a few bullet points later. The second and most obvious (my fav of the 2) inspiration Tabata drew from for her character is Tinkerbell; from the blond hair, green dress, gets pissed when male partner pays attention to any female that isn’t her, yeah no denying she’s based on tinkerbell; my guess is Tabata combined her with Sylphs wind magic because it was Tinkerbell’s pixie dust that Peter, the lost boys, and the Darling children used to be able to fly. “Faith, trust, & a little bit of pixie dust” (Which is even more perfect because, even if he doesn’t show it, there is no one else in the series that has more faith & trust in Asta than Yuno does… Yuno’s infinite faith/trust in Asta both drives their rivalry forward and, by this logic, is one of the very reasons Yuno can sore so high🥰).

Undine is the only spirit character, for now, that is directly based off of a real water spirit in European folklore (again, even though Sylphs technically qualify to be categorized under European mythology, as far as I know, they are not officially categorized as such which is why I say Undine is the only one) - “Undine, also spelled Ondine, is a mythological figure of European tradition, a water nymph who becomes human when she falls in love with a man but is doomed to die if he is unfaithful to her.” Being that Undine is described as being able to take human form when she falls in love with a man *cough cough* Ariel *cough cough* Black Clover’s Undine’s background states that she made a contract with the first queen of the newly formed Heart Kingdom and has thus stayed loyal and made a contract with every Heart Queen since. Maybe she fell in love with the father/brother/husband/male-figure associated with the first queen and since the queen is the predominant ruler of the heart kingdom - Undine made a contract with her to be close to this man while knowing he could/would never be hers… she wouldn’t die if her love is one sided… if her love is unsaid and unrequited then anything this man does with another woman isn’t considered being unfaithful.. and maybe she’s maintained contracts with every Heart Queen since out of sheer devotion, loyalty, and love to that original man whom she took human form for. Or she was in love with the first queen and has made a contract with every queen since out of sheer devotion, loyalty, and love not on just for that first queen but every one of her descendants. Who knows?

Tabata’s mythological references (demonology excluded because that a whole other thing) for the most part mainly circulate around Greek mythology, Norse mythology, and European folklore.

Going based off of Undine (and Sylphs) , there’s a strong possibility that this yet to be named earth spirit will possibly directly based on, even if only slightly, someone of those three categories above.

Greek mythology, I find somewhat unlikely seeing as there’s no official male god of earth in Greek mythology. There are deities that have roles related to the earth yeah… but no god surround the earth itself or the element itself. The closest thing to a god of earth in Greek mythology is Gaea - goddess of earth. Simplify it to god of dirt and still the only result is Demeter goddess of agriculture (which seems similar to Mimosa in some ways but I don’t think she will obtain an earth spirit because I think the earth spirit will have more to do with mineral earth than plants and agriculture). If there is to be any inspiration drawn from Greek mythology in terms of an earth spirit, but even this seems a little unlikely, my guess would be possibly some characteristics from Satyrs seeing as they are the male equivalent of nymphs - what Undine is technically classified as.

Norse mythology seems a bit more, but not by much at first, plausible in terms of gathering reference for an earth spirit. It probably wouldn’t be the Norse God of Earth Jörd because she is still technically a goddess and mother of earth like Gaea. However, Norse mythology does have a deity of rocks - Hrungnir is a jötunn (a type of entity contrasted with gods and other non-human figures, such as dwarfs and elves. The entities are themselves ambiguously defined, variously referred to by several other terms, including risi, thurs and troll). There is also one more Norse aspect that goes along these lines - Dvergar or Norse dwarves are entities in Norse mythology associated with rocks, the earth, deathliness, luck, technology, craft, metal work, wisdom, and greed.

Norse mythologies depictions of both jötunn and dvergar tie into the third category of European folklore’s depiction of earth deities/spirits. In European folklore, Gnome, is a dwarfish, subterranean goblin or earth spirit who guards mines of precious treasures hidden in the earth. He is represented in medieval mythologies as a small, physically deformed (usually hunchbacked) creature resembling a dry, gnarled old man. - this description is similar to that of jötunn/dvergar and also ties into Charmy being revealed as part dwarf which will most likely be explored in a later arc.

Tbh, I picture this guy’s personality being somewhere between Grumpy from Snow White, the grumpy but well-meaning and wisecrack Lorax, and Phil from Disney’s rendition of Hercules… (not only does imagining this type of personality have me laughing… imagining the 2 most whom I find most likely to be chosen by this earth spirit… imagining them being partnered up with this personality has me near cackling😂)

As for the 2 whom most likely might be the “chosen one” of this earth spirit?

Even though he is technically described as being Arcane in terms of his magical attribute, Mercury is by definition “a naturally-occurring chemical element found in rock in the earth's crust, including in deposits of coal.” So mercury is naturally occurring, derived from earth, and the fact that it can come from deposits of coal ties in perfectly to the hypothesis of this earth spirit/deity being along the lines of dwarves which (not JUST in Snow White) are heavily associated with miners in various mythologies and folklores. So even though technically classified as being arcane, I do think Nozel has a strong possibility of being chosen by the spirit of earth (+ it would make for an EVEN MORE epic rivalry between Nozel and Fuegoleon if they both have an elemental spirit) (++ based off of how dwarves are depicted in mythology and based on how I decribed how I think this guy’s personality will be, I can see this guy as wise/rational but also getting grumpy/irritated easily with a short fuse and just imagine him getting irritated and kicking Nozel in the shins when when he doesn’t communicate his feelings properly & almost always kicks Solid/Nebra/Augustus in the shins when he says something he shouldn’t have - omg this guy’ll be a hoot!!🤣)

The second possible “chosen one” of this earth spirit could be Sol. Not only is she 100% raw earth magic but I also feel like it would balance her out a bit having a male spirit attached to her and that’s where the wisdom side of the Lorax/Phil could kick in and help her not only improve as a mage but also as a person helping her not see things so one sided. You notice, even though the Blue Rose Knights are an all girl squad… Sol is the only one that goes to that much of a degree in despising men; everyone else on the squad detests men on the surface but for the most part not truly. Charlotte keeps up the façade of detesting men to both appear strong for her squad ladies but also to mask her own insecurities. Sol, while she has gotten a little better since her initial introduction, is the only one who barely tolerates men… the only one who’s depicted as not having a façade and genuinely detests all men with a few exceptions. Having a male spirit like character who does not take her BS (*shin kick💥*) but also offers her wisdom and guidance that helps her grow as a person would be phenomenal for her character overall.

I find Nozel to be the more interesting outcome (NO! not just because I’m a Nozel simp… who told you that? They lie) but either of these characters would be interesting and could improve drastically in character development and as a mage having someone like this joined at the hip.

OKay, okay *takes a moment* (Also: did I just stop what I was doing, just to read and reply to this? .... Maybe)

I'd like to platonically kiss you on the mouth (with your consent ofc, because consent is a big thing on this blog), because I love this. Okay the Fue simp in me was hoping to have more of him, but in the end I didn't even mind. And can I just say that I love, lovelovelove the idea of Nozel getting the Elemental Spirit of Earth.

The theory is made *so* *much* *better* by the mental image of him (supposedly 'him') being a Lorax/Phil (from now on, let's call him Phorax). Because can you just imagine this duo?! Nozel, our lovely tsun-tsun who is in need of a big, warm hug and therapy. (Like Nozel, sweetie, I know that there aren't many therapists around, but you need to talk to someone.)

I'm also thinking that since it's probable that there'll be the 2-2 divide between boy/girl spirits, because I kinda agree with you on Sal being a boy (I'm aware of Shrek 2, but unfortunately I have no answers, but I laughed *so hard* while reading that), if there'll be a divide between the Spirit forms that have wings. Because I can't see the Earth Spirit giving a flying Spirit Dive form.

I mean, what, everyone else, aka the rest 3 spirit owners can rise to the skies and then Nozel is left behind like a plucked chicken? (I'm so, so sorry for that comparison, but ain't no one leaving him behind! Nozel. Needs. To. Be. Included.) I don't think that's fair. So, it could very well be that the two else give a "grounded" Spirit form, and Bell and Undine give a flying form.

Aaaanyways... I do like your theory/thoughts on how Undine came to be. And I could very well see that to be canon.

I, honestly, have nothing further to add at this point. Because this is brilliant. I love this.

Roses and Rowan

It’s storming when Bucky drives past Ravenspoint’s limits. The rain is coming down hard enough that he almost misses the sign for the little town in all the gloom, but then there’s a flash of lightning, illuminating the foreboding faces of the town patriarchs glaring down at those who would dare enter their town. Bucky shivers, resolutely turning away as he continues on his way.

He’s not here for them anyway. The patriarchs are long dead, their only descendants long since fled. There’s another flash of lightning, this time illuminating the hill off to the left and the old manor on the hilltop. From what little bit he can see through the storm, it looks like it was once a stately mansion but it’s falling into disrepair now. Bucky blinks and suddenly he can see the golden glimmer of the wards around the whole hill, sealing the house and grounds off from the would-be adventurers brave enough to test their mettle against the ghosts of Rosewood Manor.

Another shiver runs down his spine. The magic is strangely familiar, though he can’t place where he might have seen it before. He blinks again and the golden glimmer of the wards disappears from his view. “Spooky,” Bucky mutters. In the passenger seat, Alpine mraows her agreement. He reaches over and scratches under her chin, grinning when she purrs loud enough to drown out the music coming from the car speakers.

They pull into town a few minutes later, only knowing it by the stoplight Bucky just barely manages to make out through the sheets of rain pounding down. He would have missed it otherwise, the storm too heavy and the buildings too dark to see in the night. Ravenspoint is a small town with a population of only three thousand people, exactly one stoplight, and two streets that run the length of town, connected by a series of smaller cross streets. It’s exactly the last place Bucky ever thought he would find himself and yet here he is, searching for someone who had made it clear he didn’t want to be found.

“What am I doing, Alpine?” he asks the cat. “He told me he didn’t want me to come after him.”

Alpine can’t respond but she rolls over, exposing her belly to him, and he gets the sense of reassurance through their bond.

“I know,” he responds. “Tellin’ people he wants to be left alone when that’s usually the last thing he wants. But let’s be real here, this place is pretty far off the beaten track.”

Another pulse of reassurance.

“Well if you ask me—” the helper figment starts to say.

“I didn’t,” Bucky interrupts before it can say anything else. Damn figment’s been more trouble than it’s worth this whole trip. “Where’s the turn?”

The figment gives him a sullen look. “In five hundred yards, off to the right.”

Even as the figment says it, Bucky spots the glowing lights of the shop in the distance. He slows down and pulls over into one of the parking spots off the street, peering up through the rain at the shop sign above the door.

“Bluebells and Belladonnas,” he reads. “He always did like alliteration.”

“Great,” the figment says waspishly. “Can I go now? I got a hot—”

Bucky flicks his fingers and the figment disappears back to whatever dimension figments come from. Alpine flicks her tail lazily, giving off a sense of amusement and a little bit of hunger. Bucky laughs and scratches her chin again.

“Yeah, I would’ve let you eat it if it wouldn’t have given you indigestion,” he says. “’nother couple of minutes. I’m sure he has fresh tuna for you.”

He sighs and looks at the shop again. The sign on the front says it’s closed but there are lights on inside both in the shop itself and in the apartment above the shop, telling him that the owner is probably still working.

“So what’re you doing sitting out here?” he asks himself. He gives another baleful look at the stormy clouds and the rain still pouring down, groans, and then shrugs his hood up over his head. Nothing for it. The rain isn’t supposed to let up for another couple of hours and Bucky doesn’t feel like sitting in the car that long.

“You gonna be good out here?” he asks Alpine. She blinks slowly at him. That’s a yes, then.

Quick as he can, he gets out and dashes for the cover the awning provides. Once there, he throws his hood back and then knocks on the door. He waits about a minute before knocking again, this time a lot louder. It takes a moment before he sees a person-shaped blob behind the water-streaked glass. He knocks for a third time. The person gets larger as they move closer and then the door unlocks and swings open with a wave of the person’s hand.

“What—”

“You know,” Bucky says, stepping over the threshold. He bites back a shiver as a wave of magic washes over him, verifying that he has no ill intent. “You are a hard person to find.”

“Yeah, some people would take that as a hint,” Tony Stark states flatly, crossing his arms over his chest as he glares at Bucky.

Bucky is born with the ability to see magic. Or, at least, that’s the sfigmentlest way to explain it, if not the most accurate. Just about everyone can “see” magic but what they see are actually just the effects of magic—what was produced or what was done. Bucky has the ability to actually see the threads of magic. It’s a Barnes family gift, although none of the Barnes mages have had this ability in nearly two centuries. Bucky is the first in a very long time and because of that, he ends up having to go to school rather than being trained at home by the family mage (also known as Ma to Bucky and his sister).

It's at school that he meets his best friend, Stevie, and Stevie’s other best friend, Tony. Tony is a bit of an oddball, not that Bucky and Steve are incredibly popular either. Steve should be popular because of his dragon heritage and the power that brings him but he comes into his inheritance late and has a strong sense of morality and that gets him into trouble, more often than not. And Bucky just ends up following behind him.

But Tony—Tony is hard to pin down. He has incredible amounts of power, which is unusual in a mage from the Jarvis line. He’s a lot younger than most of the other kids, which isn’t so unusual for people with a lot of power—Bucky can think of a couple examples off the top of his head of people who went to school early because of their powers—but all those people went to school early because they didn’t have control, and Tony is nothing if not controlled. He doesn’t much look like either of his parents and the way he acts sometimes… it’s clear that he’s been through a lot, is all.

It’s not until their fourth year that Bucky starts putting the pieces together, and it starts when he finds out that Tony doesn’t actually get his powers from the Jarvis line but from the Carbonell line instead. He wasn’t supposed to overhear that but he and Steve had gotten in trouble again and were sitting outside the Headmistress’s office while she finished up a meeting with the Jarvises.

That’s when he’d heard it: “The Carbonell magic is strong in Tony,” the Headmistress had said, and that had been all Bucky had heard as the pieces had started falling into place. It had always puzzled Bucky how Tony’s magic, so suited to big things, had come from the Jarvises, both of whom were more skilled in household charms and enchantments, but if Tony was adopted… Adoption was rare in magical families, as magic was so often tied to filial lines, but it wasn’t unheard of, and that explained so much about Tony.

He spends some time in the library after that, researching the Carbonells. They’re an old line, originating in Italy, before coming to the Americas in the late sixteenth century. They’re known for producing powerful mages with the exact same proficiency in metallurgy that Tony’s always demonstrated. The last of them, Maria, had married one of the Starks, a newer family with a proficiency in elemental magics—another of Tony’s skills, Bucky realizes—and that’s where the trail goes cold. He never finds another mention of the Carbonells, or the Starks for that matter, in any of the old history books.

But there has to be more to the story, Bucky knows. Because there’s Tony, who looks just like Maria Carbonell, and that means there has to be more. However, he never brings it up. That’s Tony’s story, and if he doesn’t want to tell them, he doesn’t have to.

He never stops hoping that Tony will, though.

Tony is looking at him now, eyes dark and arms crossed. Bucky has changed into a pair of sweats and a t-shirt he’d brought with him as his clothes had ended up drenched, even from just the short run from the car and back out to grab Alpine and his travel bag. His clothes are drying by the fire now as Alpine explores the apartment, sniffing around curiously. Bucky is curious as well, but he’s been so busy drinking in the sight of Tony after almost two years of nothing that he hasn’t taken the time yet to look around.

“What are you doing here, Bucky?” Tony asks eventually.

He shrugs. “I came to find you.”

“Thought I made it obvious I didn’t want to be found.”

“I thought we had unfinished business,” Bucky says quietly. He gazes at Tony steadily until Tony squirms and turns away, busying himself with the coffeepot on the counter. He prepares two cups of coffee, one with more sugar than most people can stand and one with more milk than coffee, and hands the one with milk to Bucky.

Bucky takes one sip and blinks in surprise. “This is decaf,” he says.

“Yeah, and?”

“Tony, you don’t drink decaf. You called it the devil’s brew.”

There’s a hint of a smile lurking around the corners of Tony’s mouth as he raises his own cup to his mouth. “I’d forgotten about that.”

“Seems like you’ve forgotten a lot of things.”

“Like what?”

“Like how I promised you I’d follow you anywhere.”

Tony stills for a moment before he puts his cup back down on the counter. “Bucky—”

“Tony, why?” Bucky asks, not even bothering to hide the anguish in his voice. It’s how he’s felt every day since Tony disappeared two years ago. “You told me we’d talk the next day, only I woke up to find you’d run. Did I push too hard? Was it not what you wanted?” He stops, frustrated and upset, and scrubs his hand over his face.

“Bucky, no,” Tony says, dismayed. He moves forward, taking Bucky’s hands between his. “It wasn’t you. You have to believe me. It was never you.”

“Then what was it?”

Tony bites his lip, hesitating. Even without using his Sight, Bucky can see golden magic swirling under Tony’s skin, pooling at his hands where they’re touching Bucky’s. He blinks and now he can see his own magic, cool silver, gathering at his fingertips, aching to reach out and touch Tony’s. Their magic has always been compatible, always stronger when they’re together, even before Bucky figured out his complicated feelings for Tony.

“Doll?” he asks, immediately regretting the pet name when it makes Tony flinch. He doesn’t take it back though. This is who he is, a little old-fashioned and a little flirty and a lot in love with Tony Stark.

“It’s me,” Tony eventually admits, looking down at their hands as though he can see the magic too. “I got scared. It’s—I’m not who you think I am.”

“Not what? Not a Jarvis? Tony, I’ve known that for ten years.”

Tony’s head jerks up so fast Bucky’s own neck aches in sympathy. “What did you say?”

“Tony, I know you’re not a Jarvis,” Bucky says again, patiently. He’s never admitted this to anyone before, let alone Tony. He can afford to be careful right now.

“How did you know that?” Tony breathes. “We’ve never told anyone.”

“Except for the Headmistress,” Bucky points out. “You prob’ly had to tell her so she could help you with your abilities.”

“We did,” Tony whispers.

He shrugs. “Stevie and I overheard her one time. She said your magic came from the Carbonell line. I got curious, thought it might explain why you and the Jarvises are so different, so I looked it up.”

“You didn’t think that was invading my privacy?”

The words are harsh but Tony doesn’t look upset. He looks—hopeful, almost, like he wants to believe Bucky knows everything about him and doesn’t judge him for it. It makes Bucky bold and he steps forward, right into Tony’s space, as he tugs one of his hands free and uses it to tuck one of Tony’s curls behind his ear, fingers brushing against his cheek.

“You are a puzzle I’ve only ever wanted to solve,” Bucky murmurs, bowing his head to rest his forehead against Tony’s. His hand cups Tony’s cheek for the briefest moment and then falls to his shoulder. Tony closes his eyes and inhales shakily. “But the moment the trail went cold, I stopped looking. It didn’t seem right to keep digging.”

“What did you find?” Tony asks.

“Two names: Howard Stark and Maria Carbonell, that’s it.”

Tony nods. “Those were my parents.”

“Were?”

“Could be are. I don’t know where they went after they left me, but I stopped calling them mine the moment they were gone.”

“What happened?” He feels Tony tense under his hand and quickly adds, “If you want to tell me. Don’t feel like you have to.”

“No, it’s—I want to,” Tony says, sounding frustrated. The space between his brows furrows in irritation. “I’ve just never told anyone and—I’m not sure I’m ready to tell the full story yet. It’s a lot.”

“Whatever you’re ready for, then. And when you’re ready for the rest, I’ll be right here to listen.”

Tony takes a deep breath, steadying himself. “I was born at Rosewood Manor,” he says quietly.

“That place outside of town?”

“Mmhmm. That’s my magic you probably saw guarding it.”

Bucky sucks in a sharp breath. “Tony, that place looks like it hasn’t had anyone living there for fifteen years.”

“Over twenty actually. I was three when—when that happened.”

“You were three? And you had that kind of control?”

Tony laughs humorlessly. “Believe me, that night I had no control at all.” He falls silent. Bucky waits for more, but Tony seems to be done talking for tonight, so he turns his head and kisses the corner of Tony’s mouth instead.

“Thank you for telling me,” he says.

Tony grimaces. “Not like I told you much of anything.”

“You told me what you were comfortable with. Believe me, doll, after two years of nothing—”

“You keep doing that,” Tony interrupts. “Calling me doll.”

Bucky hesitates. “I thought you liked it when I did that.”

Tony looks away, a bitter twist to his mouth. “I left.”

“Yeah…”

“I left right after you kissed me because I was scared and couldn’t face up to what was going on between us even though I promised we’d talk.”

Bucky waits, sure that if he stays silent, Tony will explain further. It’s a trick that he’s used in the past and it’s always worked. Sure enough, after another couple moments:

“You know, I was so sure you were dating Steve? Let me finish please,” Tony says calmly, holding up a hand when Bucky opens his mouth. “You don’t know what it was like. I might have met Steve first but it was so clear that you two were a lot closer than I would ever be with him. So yes, I was convinced you two were dating and that I was alone in my feelings and when I found out I wasn’t, I panicked. I thought it was Tony Jarvis you liked, not—”

“I like you,” Bucky interrupts, unable to keep hearing Tony talk about how he’d thought Bucky wasn’t serious about him, when he thinks maybe it’s the only thing he’s ever been serious about. “I like you as Tony Jarvis, Tony Carbonell, Tony Stark, or just plain Tony.”

“Like?” Tony asks shyly.

Bucky grins and kisses the other corner of Tony’s mouth. “Do you think I would have kept searching for you for two years if I didn’t still like you?”

Tony leans back for a moment, searching his eyes for something before he eventually says, “And what about Tony Barnes?”

Bucky’s heart about stops. He wheezes out, “You—”

“It’s not—I needed a name when I came back to Ravenspoint. I didn’t want anyone to know who I was and it’s a small town. People know every other name I go by, but—I didn’t think you’d mind or I wouldn’t—”

Bucky can’t stop himself anymore. He frames Tony’s face in his hands and kisses him soundly. It’s closed-mouthed and chaste and it’s still the best damn kiss he’s ever had, next to the only other time he kissed Tony. Tony’s hands flutter in the air for a second before wrapping around Bucky’s waist, clutching him to him.

“I love you calling yourself by my name,” he says hoarsely, pulling away long enough to get the words out before he kisses Tony again. “And one day, I swear I’ll give you that name for real, forever and always.” This time, it’s Tony who whfigmenters and kisses him again, sucking Bucky’s tongue into his mouth as Bucky’s hands slide back into his hair to hold him right where he wants him.

“Wait,” Tony pants, struggling against Bucky’s grip to move away. Bucky lets him go reluctantly, gratified when Tony only moves a couple inches. “How did you find me?”

“Your magic,” Bucky tells him, trailing kisses across every inch of his face. “It’s been callin’ out to me since the day you left, leavin’ me a trail to follow.”

“Lucky me,” Tony whispers.

And as Bucky kisses him again, unable to resist for a single second, he thinks to himself, No. Lucky me.

I really cannot believe that we’re at the penultimate episode already, oh my gosh. It’s gone by so fast??

Again, because I’ve reread TSK in the last couple of weeks, the book is fresh in my mind but I’ve probably still missed stuff

Also last week was so intense and seeing the “previously on” section made me remember just how intense that was, so it’s a hard job to top that!

Serafina just dropped right in to rescue them and I was both relieved and a little disappointed? Because in the book the whole chase sequence is so much longer and more important, like it takes up most of an entire chapter I think, and here it’s like two minutes?

I missed Lee and Jopari tbh so yay to seeing them once more! And they’ve crossed into the next world!

^ I wasn’t expecting to see Mary again this series because in TSK book, her last appearance is going through the window (which was last episode), so I’m a little curious as to whether we’re going to get a TINY little peek into The Amber Spyglass here (it’s been years since I reread it, I apologize). Because last series they did a bit of TSK (namely introducing Will + him crossing into Cittagazze), so it would be interesting!

Also, if Mary is playing the part of the “serpent” within Lyra’s destiny, does that mean that Mary has tempted Lyra? Or that she will?

Also, fun fact, Ruth Wilson went to my sixth form college and is from Surrey (like me), and she grew up in Shepperton, which is where my Nan used to live when she was alive (my uncle and aunt live there still), so that’s super exciting!

Also, you have to wonder just how many times she’s harmed herself (and him) for her to keep doing it with next to no problems (like separating from each other all the time)

I was so excited to see the birds attacking the zeppelins, like it was one of my favourite details in the book, and I worried that they wouldn’t have the budget for it but yay!

I do kind of wish that we’d had Sayan Kötor as the “eagle Queen” leading them though - she probably was but I wish we’d actually seen it or heard Jopari say it or whatever

First time reading ACOTAR

After years of debating reading this book series I finally read the first book. Here are my thoughts:

Feyre- at first I was worried she was going to be one of those MC girl characters that seems badass during the first few pages but later your thinking the whole time, "are you actually tho?". She is, I really liked when she fought the worm, took some initiative to get answers, and I like how she has a weakness-reading. Tho I wish she could have figured out the curse and stuff more along the way because I did not like that info dump about the curse after she returns to the Spring court to find everyone gone.

Tamlin- I think he is ok. For the most part he is really respectful of Feyre's boundaries and for the most part when she says no he backs off even if he is irritated he still backs off. His moments with Feyre are pretty cute. He has a grumpy exterior and a sweet playful interior and I like it. I think he really does love Feyre,(eventhough in the terms of the curse it does not say he must fall in love with the girl, only she) I don't think he's manipulative or terrible for how he got Feyre to the spring court bc the terms to break the curse are REALLY SPECIFIC, so much so its really out of his control. And yes I know my opinion of him will change soon, it already has bc he's already starting to annoy me in the second book and I'm a few chapters in.

Lucian- I love him. Him being the third wheel to Feyre and Tamlin is something I can relate to, like when Feyre and Tamlin were flirting at breakfast in front of him and he was like "EXCUSE ME! I AM EATING HERE!" is something that has happened to me in real life. Though I wish he was bit more vocal against Tamlin in the 2nd book so far.

Rhysand- tbh I was wary of him at first even though he saved Feyre during Fire Night, but I quickly realized he did not enjoy working for Amarantha and was trying to take her down from the inside. I appreciate that he was trying to help but I do not agree with his methods like drugging Feyre and making her dance. He could have told her of the plan through their connection so that Amarantha's spies wouldn't know.

Nesta- she's not mean she's just blunt and I appreciate it

Elaine- your cute but could you be a bit more helpful like idk....grow some vegetables in your garden and not just flowers or sell your flowers.

overall I liked this book bit slow at first but good re-telling of beauty and the beast. The masks covering their faces was creative.

this is such a hard question to answer!!! i've been trying to figure it out for like, forever!! i usually enjoy writing most of the things i post (unless i mention it in the fic itself) but maybe i guess it would be the first chapter of eight for two? kitty!marinette is one of my favorite characters of all time, so it really just worked for me.

i think about her almost every day, which is such a shame considering idon't write her very often at all these days-- something about the first chapter just flowed. it was quick. it was snappy, and punchy, and i was really in the groove to write it. i was super impressed and proud of myself, for sure, and honestly i think it's the best thing i've ever written ever. which is strange. but i think that's when i peaked, tbh, nothing can top it for me (unless i actually finish the fic.) the entire fic is something so personal to me that i have a hard time sitting down and actually writing it, which is a shame, because the last chapter is something that i literally want to write down so badly D: i dream of that last chapter. hoh.

i wanted to ask about your favorite part from each fic

i think i had the most fun writing wing showin' when i first wrote it back in april? march? i was really needing some love-comfort to write, and that one really hit it on the head for me. (i haven't read the entire series through, but i've reread the second chapter so much because of the cuddling. where there be cuddling, there be izy!) fallin' is in the same boat. luka feeling upset and me feeling upset is such a good pairing, i'm telling you! we work great as a pair.

also, the first chapter of DL of course, was insane for me because i wrote the whole thing in a day. i blinked and there was a fic in front of me. i had completely pulled the story out of thin air. to this day, i have no idea what happened, but i'm really glad-- last year january was an amazing thing for me. i wrote, like, 100k+ words in a month for no reason at all. i hope to get close to that this year, too! that would be really nice.

my favorite part from locker talk was writing the third chapter!!! it just worked!!! i had found my groove!!! i was really happy with it!!!

bad days are always going to happen, but it's nice to have favorite things to read and write. some of these fics i wrote while going through some pretty heavy stuff, so when i think back to the entirety of last year, i can't remember what i was doing during that particular chapter, but i remember certain lines coming from me personally. like i said in the beginning, fallin' was rough. really rough. writing was the first thing that came to mind when i was having a bad day-- and when my long-term relationship ended, it was even harder. september was rough, but i remember writing comfort givin' just because i had to write it and get it out, and i really enjoyed writing it. like, a lot, it was so therapeutic!!!

i had a blast writing fire lily petals, especially since it was a challenge to write 5k words and publish every two days, that was a lot of fun-- even if i haven't finished it (yet!)

there's so many things i want to finish, and yet so little time!! i want to write every single story i think about and share it with y'all, even if it's not your interest, but this ADHD is so bad that if i do that i'm never going to get any of my fics done. i have to focus. i'm telling the truth when i say there's so many little oneshots i have that i can't work on because i've got Bigger Stuff Planned!!
