-Same thing with his brother, he worries you're going to get hurt and tries to avoid anything happening to you.

-Don't worry, just give him puppy dog eyes and he'll give in faster than the speed of sound.

-If you walk around while listening to music, he's right behind you with his hands on your shoulders to make sure you're safe. This does not change if your eyes are open.

-So, just be careful around him and when you listen to music.

Sakura Nanamie

-It doesn't bother her in the slightest.

-She enjoys the stillness of sound, she's usually caught up with Tsukasa being loud, so just being in the same room as you, but not talking makes her enjoy these times together.

-She knows your not paying attention so she sometimes go up behind you and give a little kiss on your cheek. (Or on the lips depending on how far the relationship has gone.)

-When she wants your attention for either a question or because she simply wants affection, she'll lightly tap your shoulder or rub the back of your hand.

-She ALWAYS asks if you can give her attention beforehand, since she is very much aware of what it's like for someone to be forced into it.

-This also makes it very rare for her to ask for anything, but I'm getting off track.

-It's not a huge part of her life but she still thinks it kinda cute you do it

Tsukasa Yugi

-All he can think is, "Perfect opportunity".

-You're distracted AND can't hear him. He wants to prank or surprise you as much as possible. Having your attention on something else other than him (Which he is a bit offended by) Gives him the chance to shock you.

-At this point, it's not as surprising. The most shocking part is what he tries and do to gain your focus.

-He's given you things he's killed, which the offer is nice, the corpse is not.

-He'll incessantly bother you asking if he can listen to music with you.

-If you refuse, he'll do one of three things.

- 1. Continue to cry and complain

- 2. Take whatever you're listening to music on.

- 3. Get Sakura involved. Which ends up with your device getting confiscated.

-As fun as it is to mess with you, he gets super annoyed if you ignore him completely. And that leads to one of the items above.

-Just as long as you devote your time to mostly him, he's fine with whatever else you do.

SCREAMS!! YES!!! sorry that it took so long to respond to this, i had to write a lot and im answering on mobile where i cant type as fast!! (also apologizes for my grammar in this, i was in a silly mood) prepare for the massive info dump under the cut!!!

okay anyways! the “magical girls” are wxs (bc im biased for them) and their theme would be “sweets” and “deserts.” their outfits are based around the fluffy dreamland set + other cards that i think suit them. (ex: nene messenger of feelings combined with her afterparty with fireworks(mermaid nene)) but emu is only based off of her smile of a dreamer card bc she’s the goat and it’s her focus. she’s sort of the leader of the magical girls (sorry tsukasa!! youre my favorite but ur not the leader for this au!! i have a lot of plans for you though >:3)

HOWEVER bc rui and tsukasa dont have clear full body outfits in that set im thinking of basing their outfits on different sets. tsukasa is the most clear for me, because he’s going to be an combination of his backstage encouragement card (lilykasa) and his an unexpected classmate card. i dont have any ideas for rui but i want him to be based on a lim card of his so his hair can change during the transformation ueueueuwuuwe (；′⌒`) .

since their theme is around sweets im thinking of naming their “charm” or those things that give magical girls power “___ candy” emu’s would be “sweet candy” since she’s the leader. nene’s would be “mermaid candy”. tsukasa would be “star candy” and rui’s would be “robo candy” or “thunder candy” (IM SORRY RUI I AM NOT TREATING YOU RIGHT IN BUILDING THIS AU 🙏) the names before ‘candy’ is either based off of their cards (nene) or their overall personality or actual theme (tsukasa, rui)

the order of who turns into a magical girl would be emu -> nene -> rui -> tsukasa. emu was the first to recieve her powers and has been fighting against “evil” for a good length of time. maybe around 4-6 months. because of this she is somewhat popular around japan and on the internet. everyone has at least heard of her if theyve stayed up with the latest trends. (saki is a MASSIVE fan of her’s).

nene recieves her candy during a particularly difficult fight she witnesses emu having. (here). in this au nene is more pessimistic that gets resolved soon when she gets to know emu more. the reason she knows emu’s identity in the comic i made is because she soon realized it after emu said something eeriely similar to her magic girl persona. she then confirms it during the battle and as she realizes the reason for why emu fights, she is determined to reciprocate those feelings to her. thus, she recieves her candy.

tsukasa and rui im not sure yet but i want it to be an accidental encounter. maybe during a show they have an enemy appears and they have to fight, thus leading tsukasa and rui to find out their identity. im still not sure how to make the enounter different for tsukasa and rui since i want there to be at least some time for nene and tsukasa to get popular on emu’s level (or at least close to it).

the “big bad” that magical wxs is fighting is called project DULL. it’s…nightcord… yeah. the enemies are n25. they have tragic backstories and i really want to see them snap at someone sooo /lh. haha! no actually though i want n25 to have another secret persona that NO ONE knows the identity to. even themselves. they work together but they have no idea of the real person theyre working with. yes, they still in n25 together working on songs but they also work together as the main “villains” (wink wink. nudge nudge ;3). a few times one or more of them come to their nightly vcs more tired than usual and theyre suspious but brush it off thinking “oh they must have had a more exhausting day than usual, i wont pry but i’ll tell them to take care of themselves!”

virtual singers and sekais still do exist in this au by the way! im also thinking of making each group into a villain fighting group but i have no idea where to start with that and i think my brain would implode trying to think of all of their lore in one go soo no mention of them here lolol.

project DULL wants to reset the world to a state where everything is neutral. no positive emotions, no negative emotions. no sicknesses either! the main reason they oppose magical wxs is bc n25’s “neutral” is tasteless (or at least that how i think) and wxs is based around sweetness and the different flavors of everything.

there are many other things i want to explain about project DULL and others associated with them but that would be spoliers and it would ruin the surpise!!! one last thing about them is that theyre based off their imprisoned marionette set and wear masks. (WINK WINK. NUDGE NUDGE)

Ive just listened to the latest ep of the pod, it was wonderful!! Halla's point on how parasocialiaty is defined by what it lacks, to be very insightful , ive always had a slight issue with how parasocial relationships r discussed in scholarship and the rapidly changing nature of media does not help.

when u guys were talking about how different artists develop different styles of parasocial relationships with their fans, like how the nature of a harries relationship with harry styles is in a way different from the parasocial relationship we have with matty or the relationships swifties have with taylor. And how artist actively foster these relationships so in a way they are a two-way street (please lmk if I'm misunderstanding ur points, cause I'm listening to the pod at work so I may miss some key info),

Anyway, this reminded me of a convo I had with a prof of mine, we were talking about the narrative and meta-narratives that artists (specifically singer-songwriters) present to the public (cause all famous people r presenting a narrative that's y they're famous)

I think this narrative/ meta-narrative really affects the establishment and nature of the artist/ audience parasocial relationship. I think that for an artist to be "stan-able" they must present a meta-narrative, so there is,, something MORE for the fans to know about them. For example, Ed Sheeran and Coldplay have huge fanbases and can play arenas but don't really have stans because they only present a narrative (i.e. the music/ album). Whereas artists like Harry styles and most kpop groups actively foster a parasocial relationship by presenting a narrative (i.e. the music/ album) then a meta-narrative, for harry this would be his vague allusions to queerness, for kpop groups this would be the slow reveal of their real personalities (cause a lot of kpop groups r given explicit "roles" by their management like "the cool one" "the childish one" "the leader" etc). This meta-narrative allows for dedicated fans to "know" the artist better than fan who "just" listen to the songs. Personally, i think matty presents a third kind of "post-meta- narrative" so his narrative is the album then his meta-narrative is the onstage/in-interview performance art then his post-meta-narrative is his reflection on the performance art. I think the main difference between artists who have a meta-narrative and artists who have a post-meta-narrative is that we don't know what harry styles the person thinks about "harry styles" the performance, whereas id argue that we know what matty the person thinks about "matty healy" the performance.

I dont have a super cohesive point to end on but I do think that matty presenting a post-meta-narrative gets lost in translation when the 1975 gets exposed to wider audiences (like the swiftes) who take the red-pilled, toxic masculinity, meta-narrative Matty presents, as the end all be all.

Because, as we were talking, in the back of my head, I was thinking about my second favorite artist, Father John Misty, whose music is lowkey similar to the 1975 in a lot of ways. And it’s definitely shaped me as a person a lot. He’s been my top artist on Spotify wrapped stats for years. HOWEVERRR, I don’t have the same relationship to him/ his art as Matty and the 1975. I think it’s precisely because of the meta-narrative that you’re pointing to!

perhaps that’s part of what Matty has in mind when he says “feeling personally addressed.” Even little things like referencing their own earlier discography or tongue-in-cheek jokes about lyrics. “You can’t figure out a heart you were lyin’” “it’s just like I’ve lost my head.” Not to mention Notes tracks that have samples of ABIIOR in the back/ signaling the end of Music For Cars era etc. all of those things feel like building a narrative that the fan can participate in, and is likely to make you more immersed in the music and the artist. So yeah 100% I think this is a really great thought and if you don’t mind us referencing it on the next ep (it’s gonna be a part 2 of this conversation but more centered around consumerism in fan culture) I’d love to bring it up with Zoe!

and i do feel bad for idols who get hate trains but i also kinda sometimes expect a little more from them at the same time? like some idols seem like theyre only doing it to gain benefit of being idols brand deals, popularity, modelling or acting roles without having actual interest in musicality. the girl in le sserra oh i dont know which one it is but they totally ruined her vocals bc i imagine it must be harder to switch from opera to pop so it puzzle me why some debut if they are kinda mainly average singers. for instance they give them songs that clearly dont suit their pitch, i loved jimin performances in the older bts style compared to his solos bc im sorry its that kinda corny pop vocals that he doesnt really suit and doesnt seem to hit the notes in a stable manner. like idols who overperform get hounded online but idols who underperform called lazy so they cant win really nowadays they have to be allrounders but in a balanced way to appease ppl. it must be tough these days to be idol then for them to not be able to get downtime or personal life outside of idol image in case they get backlash for dating. yh no thanks

if i were some idols id always be trying to improve cause id have passion for what id do in songs (its stagnant otherwise) and if im really going to be honest i tnink le sserras docuseries was poor timing and mainly for sympathy points. ik one member says she wanted to change the industry but sometimes u have to choose ur battles and otherwise i dont get what she doing to really make any changes at all cause kpop has been the way it is for donkeys years. it is in some cases a trainwreck waiting to happen. i also cant imagine being in a group like triple s either. i think some groups are interesting to start with but somewhere down the line it gets a bit faulty and it kinda goes downhill for them nct as well are another poorly planned group with interesting potential but doesnt push themselves out there enough and maybe too many scandals can prevent them from moving forward

i remember how twice and especially momo were criticized for singing encore. i can't stop me was really hard to sing live because it was too high and the choreography was difficult. but they improved a lot and were able to sing i can't stop me live in concert. when they first debuted, IVE was criticized for lip syncing, there were even many mocking comments when the group released i am which was too high and couldn't be sung live. but they did really well at lollapalooza. i like how when groups are criticized, they stay quiet and try to improve. while lesserafim didn't have any songs that were too high or too difficult, yet as a singer, they were criticized for being difficult because they couldn't sing. if i picked any eliminated trainee from my teenage girl, i believe she would sing and dance better than sakura. talented trainees were eliminated just because they weren't pretty enough, didn't fit the group's concept, or didn't have many fans. Sakura debuted 3 times, her many fans made her feel confident when she went to Korea to earn money. I keep thinking about Bora from Cherry Bullet, she is really a great singer. Her group came from a small company and couldn't be famous. She participated in 2 survival shows and was eliminated. In the end, her group disbanded. The harshness of kpop makes me sad.

for people that claim to be fans of louis, yall dont get him at all. confidence gets build over time (same as an audience but thats another thing) and maybe he needs the safety net of the things hes familiar with on a nerve wrecking situation (a festival) = 1d songs. and its funny cause yall use his writing credits to fight the other men fandoms but when it comes to accepting it as a part of who louis is, its all hate from yall. and when he feels confident enough I'm sure he will change his setlist and yall are gonna act like u weren't calling him (directly or indirectly) a loser. if u wanted quick results yall should've gone for the one who was built up emotionally to be a solo artist when they were still a band.

Just bc we say four covers is too excessive and he needs to drop at least two? Because we care💀? And we get the safety net and the confidence thing, that's why you never see louies demanding from him to never sing one direction songs. On the contrary, we know him and we know he'll always have a one direction song in his set (he's too loyal like that). And we have nothing against that. But four is too much, especially for such a short setlist. It is harmful for him atp. You know it's funny/ sad but if i'm not mistaken, i think he performed the same number or maybe even less covers when he did fetsivals/ shows pre- walls era (hits live, ccme and that mental health awareness or something concert in Nashville) than he does now two fucking albums later. In 2024, this whole cover and 1D vs solo thing shouldn't be a debate in the first place but here we are and Louis is partly responsable for that. You said confidence is built over time (which is not wrong) but the number of covers has been increasing over the years (not even speaking about festivals but his own shows) while more and more of his (much superior) songs are tossed aside. It's his third festival this year already excluding afhf and i don't see things changing, i don't think he'll change the setlist (i would absolutely love it if he proved me wrong on this one). Except for maybe seven bc no one knows that song and he noticed that today (fingers crossed he won't take it off only to replace it with another cover). And give it a rest with the writing credits thing already. Out of the four covers, he only has writing credits on night changes (with other seven fucking people mind you). And there's a time and place for everything. And one direction time is over. I love 1D's music, the ones he wrote at least (not that it's mendatory to be his fan. One direction and Louis Tomlinson are two separate entities. He himself said that even writing the songs is very different when it's just you and you don't have to make them fit four other guys). Iouies more than anyone else respect his time there and the work he did for the band bc we KNOW he gave it his all even then, we know how much he loved that band. But it's been nine fucking years and also, while i like their music his solo work is just on a whole other level (maybe you can't relate, anon that's why you don't get it). So, unless they reunite (which will not happen ❤️😌) i don't want to ever hear him sing three 1D songs on one setting 🤷‍♀️. This setlist is doing nothing to change people's perception of him and he's waisting the potential these festivals could've been. One last thing, (solo) louies will never ever be fans of that ugly bald man. God knows it would've been easier and less stressful but we have very high standards (hello fitf and walls) our taste will NEVER stoop that low even if that man were the last singer/ male on earth.

so. It's kinda gruesome, i suppose? idk. anyways, it starts around early jhr time for ruinene, and one day when nene is over at rui's house something goes wrong with rui's inventions bc he wasnt careful, nene tries to help (or save him, havent decided yet) and BOOM. she uh. she sorta gets either like dead or rlly severely injured.

rui freaks out like, "Oh god, i am dangerous. i killed my friend uh oh" and gets the bright idea to make her into a life-size robotic doll. he manages to save her voice so she luckily can still sing, but she mostly has to have other things made for her out of fabric or metal. (nenerobo doesn't exist in this au she IS nenerobo)

the only parts he was really comfortable making for nene, though, and with what he had on hand, were parts for a dancing doll, so she's better at being a dancer than a singer. most of the time, she just dances, it doesn't make too much sound, and she's too scared to sing again. i like to throw in there that mizuki made nene's outfits too without knowing the whole story.

rui probably feels just. IMMENSELY GUILTY. and nene at first was rlly salty, until she kinda like. got over it a bit and understood it was an accident, and she's not mad anymore since rui is still so guilty, but rui will not forgive himself for the life of him so yk

hi i dont go here but i saw this post and have to bring up my metal band because at the beginning of the current tour they're on, they played in their hometown to 9k+ people and the lead singer could barely sing because the entire audience was singing back to him and he was getting emotional about it. and why would you not want this for ur own favorite vocalist? it may not feel "intimate" to you but i can assure u louis will think it feels intimate from the sheer amount of people who want to see him and stand in the same room as him just for him

LITERALLY!!!!! louis has been very vocal about how emotional he gets when he sees so many people being there for him. he’s gotten emotional about it, taking time to admire his fans. that’s a feeling you cannot find anywhere else. as you said, why wouldn’t you want him to experience that? especially after all the shit he’s gone through. the fact it’s a stadium tour, with barely any promo and no radio play, is something to feel proud of. i will always treasure my first show for that feeling of being closer to him, but i’m so happy for him for accomplishing so much in such a short period of time.
