2023 was pretty good year for me for art, and i finally went to life drawing classes like i've wanted to for ages. it also helped that i got interested again in some subject matter that i felt able to draw, so thanks storror and friends!!

i also did some painted portraits for the first time since 2019, which was very satisfying. i'm proud of what i was able to do this year.

8/31 prompt: takeout - some fluff today (355 words) - @jegulus-microfic

A sudden knocking at Regulus’ door startled him out of his steady stream of typing. He glanced at the clock and frowned. It was after midnight.

He stood up, cracking his back as he went. He hadn’t realized how long he’d been sitting in one position, he’d been buried in work since he got back to his dorm over six hours earlier.

He didn’t bother looking through the peephole before opening the door. His roommate hadn't come home yet, so he figured he’d just left his key. And at least if it was a serial killer, he would be free from midterms.

It wasn’t his roommate. It wasn’t a serial killer, either, but he supposed James was a bit better.

“I brought chinese food,” James grinned. Regulus felt the strain in his shoulders dissipate at the sight of it. As happy as he was to see his boyfriend though, he still had at least a couple more hours' worth of work to trudge through.

“James…”

“Nope, you’re not fighting it. Close the laptop, Black.” He pushed through the door and dropped a kiss on Regulus' cheek. Regulus watched as James plopped down into his bed and carefully began pulling food out of a plastic bag.

“I don’t have time for this, James. I still have an essay to finish, and I haven’t even started studying for my bio exam.”

“Sorry, I can’t hear you over how good this sweet and sour pork smells. You know, your favorite.”

Regulus bit his lip. He glanced at his desk, where his laptop and countless notes still sat open. He had to keep working, but his eyes were sore from looking at his laptop and his butt hurt from his shitty desk chair. And the food really did smell good. Before he could even begin to weigh his options in his head, his stomach growled loudly. James cocked an eyebrow and Regulus groaned in response, walking over to the bed.

“Move over.” He huffed. James smiled triumphantly and inched over to make space for Regulus next to him. “I want the bigger half of the pork.”

“Of course, love.”

Here I am, at the end of this long, painful, but necessary journey.

4 months and 4 LPs returned after, my research for a functioning Meliora vinyl has come to an end.

Even the most emotional journeys have a destination… but it is not a perfect ending. It is, by the way, a happy one.

I have finally purchased a used Meliora on Discogs, from a French guy called Xavier. He has played the record for me before I purchased it to ensure it didn’t have skipping issues and he cleaned it in a way I don’t even know how it works. The record still skips in certain points (at this point I think it depends on the player and the cleaning), but nothing like the disaster of the previous 3 records. I’ll keep it as it is and make peace with the fact I’ll never find a perfectly playing Meliora.

Thank you Xavier, you did your best and you have my gratitude.

The cloth in the picture is the microfiber belt of my bathrobe. I used it to clean the record after the first play. It helped A LOT.

bcuz my siblings went into foster care but i was legally an adult (for a few months) they were basically like..... either you go into assisted living or we send you to the pysch ward (or staying with extended family which is what ended up happening) bcuz u literally Cant Live here. which is funny looking back bcuz how can the government say who is and isnt allowed to live in a house when they're a legal adult?? but i guess it was related to "My life being in danger" or whatever
