Since you probably use more social media than most people, I was curious on what you think of the ones u use, especially now that blue sky is open to the public

Eh, I'm not super well versed on them these days because I mostly use them to respond to notifications, post and disappear, plus I have notifications filtered everywhere so I don't keep track of engagement. ESPECIALLY with bluesky, I've never even opened the general timeline there 😅

Twitter is still my favourite social media and the one I use more seamlessly. I think I see value in it because it's not primarily meant for visual posts and there's people from a bunch of different fields and industries engaging with whatever all at once, plus the line between commenting on a post and making a post yourself is blurred which gives for some funny interactions. It used to intimidate me but now I'm just chilling.

Bluesky I guess is supposed to be the same thing? But I can't bring myself to engage with it idk. Back when it started I could see that the most active people there were the ones actively hating twitter, while.. doing the exact same things on bluesky they did on twitter 🤷‍♂️ so I think Elon Musk aside it's basically the same thing with less users.

I used to be big on instagram but basically stopped using it when they introduced reels, now I just post and disappear. I hate that they couldn't just leave it simple and uncluttered and the fact that reels became so popular pissed me off lmao.

Tiktok is a tricky one for me because I go "viral" easily there and it's my biggest platform BUT it's very addicting and you sorta have to scroll through the main page to find content to make + a lot of the time you need to make content specifically for it. Which is a time sink for me in a lot of ways :') I tend to open it every other month to maybe post something then ghost again

Tumblr is... fine? Idk tumblr definitely feels like both the most useless and the easiest social media to use. Useless in the sense that I never expect anything that happens on tumblr to materialise into anything outside of it. Easiest in the sense that it's just chill for me to post and engage with what people send me without needing to think about it too hard. Trying to get original content to take off here was in vain but fanart does particularly well as expected.. which means it only started being fun for me when I got into BG3 as I'd never been in a fandom before lmao. I like that, just like twitter, it's not only for visual posts, but get overwhelmed at the idea of blogs and formatting and sorting posts, so I only use it barebones and tend to not engage with the main page/timeline either

Engagement-wise, I honestly couldn't tell ya. I think that comes down to you paying attention to each social media's trends and how people interact with it. Personally I'm (very luckily) at a stage where 99% of the time I don't care about whether a post makes numbers or flops, and my platforms are big enough that if I REALLY needed something to do well I could probably find a way to make it loud enough so yknow

Joel's obsession with Etho is hilarious and seeing Bdubs get jealous of his #1 ethogirl status getting challenged is great fun. He's definitely gone through a bit of an arc from "I KILLED ETHO! I KILLED ETHO!!" in Last Life to "Eefo D:< You're making me nervous, eefo D:<" in Double Life to whatever the cow divorce situation was in Limlife. It seems like Etho's otherworldly status has been nerfed in his head and he's much less intimidated by him, while still admiring him in that 'childhood hero' sorta way.

I think because of that I've always seen them a little bit as more of a mentor/prodigy relationship than anything else? Specifically one that Etho is not even aware he's in. Eitherway, I don't really ship them in the romantic sense 🤷‍♂️ etho's just way too aloof and joel's got too much fangirl energy for it to be anything intimate lol

Here in Brazil we don't even have lockers in most schools and they make the students carry all their books on their backpacks all day long 🥲 I studied for 8 years in a posh private school where it was like that and I'm sure it contributed to my back problems to this day 🤧 The second one where I graduated HS had lockers but they were crazy expensive so like fuck the students who can't pay I guess🤷‍♂️ Eventually I just stopped bringing books all together and borrowed them from my classmates when we needed them in class, I just went with my phone, a notebook and my pen lmao

Recently I started to worship Ares, and been gathering things for his altar. I asked him what color he would like for his candles using my tarot deck, and I received all green cards twice 😅 it was indeed a suprised since I expected something among the red, black or gold, so I asked him why. He seemed to shrug and answered in a cute dad voice that "I'm just tired of red." (The card itself is red with many green in the middle of it)

By no means I think the typical colors people associate him with are invalid, I just find this hella interesting. So I wonder if you know from any sources that the green color is associated with Ares 🤔 otherwise have a great day, I love your blog! ✨

Lmao, this is awesome! 🤣 I mean, I kinda get you! Sometimes Ares requests "unusual" offerings, so just things that might not be the first to come to your mind when thinking of offering something to a god of war or whatever and when I ask "why?" he just responds with "why not, though?" 🤷‍♂️ It can be about the most random things! 🥴

But anyway, I can't think of nor find any ancient sources that would directly link Ares to the colour green. However, I suppose I could think of some possible UPGs (at least IMO).

So, first off, the Ancient Greeks had a very interesting way of speaking about colours. They were quite descriptive, take the famous "wine-faced/wine-dark sea" for example, right? Yes, they could still see the colour blue. It's unlikely that the colour palette their eyes were capable of seeing was drastically different from the one of modern people. It's more of a difference in language and culture.

The colour green was sometimes grouped together with blue. The words that could be used to describe them more literally were:

κῠᾰνεος [kyáneos]- usually translated as a darker shade of blue or perhaps cyan but could also generally mean something dark. The word was even used to describe Zeus' eyebrows!

γλαυκός [glaukós] - could be translated as "gleaming" but later it could've also been used to describe blueish green, light blue or grey.

χλωρός [chlōrós] - it could mean something like light green or even yellow but was also used to describe something pale, blooming, fresh or unripe. It was commonly used in the context of food. But this word could as well mean something like "vigorous" or "in one's prime".

How could one connect green to Ares UPG-wise? Well, it's true that it's not really considered "his colour", so might seem odd and out of the usual but some of my ideas here would be the association of seafoam green or cyan with Aphrodite, his lover or this greenish colour a piece of bronze ancient greek armour might turn with time. I can see a small similarity to the third word since Ares also has an epithet [Aphneios] meaning "abundant" or "the giver of food/plenty" and he's a god of war after all, right? A good soldier would be expected to exhibit plenty of vigour! The colour green in general could be associated with prosperity/abundance and good health/strength.

Another little fact I could add is how in ancient texts armour was said to have been decorated with a dark-blue enamel, e.g. Agammemnon's breastplate (Homer) and Herakles' shield (Hesiod).

I don't know if this will be helpful in any way but if green works for the both of you then... I guess, why not? 😂

I can't stop thinking about how when Ikki enters the bathhouse of horrors from the last episode, he sees a Shinto torii at the entrance. It is a symbol that represents the departure from the mundane to the sacred, it establishes the bathroom as a sacred place in Ikki's mind. And then inside we have that whole environment of chaos and literal demons hanging out in the most important part of the bathroom. Keeping the bathtubs clean is one of Ikki's greatest devotions, that's the boy's sanctum santorium.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, inside Ikki's head, is the bathhouse (and by extension, his house), the setting that represents his family, a desecrated temple?

Is that similar to the Japanese language being it’s own vague art form for abstract interpretation — where multiple interpretations can be drawn from a single sentence.

Likewise the monsters being in the bath house probably represent a bunch of different things all at once:

- Ikki’s guilt for failing to save the people sacrificed

- how he people pleases at the loss to himself/his own identity ( that weird hypnotic state he was in when the monsters were calling for him)

- How the customers are both weak innocents (who got sacrificed cause he couldn’t save them), as well as monsters consuming the time and attention of the people who own/work in the bath house.

- And these “customers” being monsters can also represent how Ikki sees the sacrifices as people that could have been customers of/at the bath house or/and how the customers very easily could have been sacrificed themselves.

And it’s as you said

Ikki’s sacred sanctorium are the baths. He’s supposed to take care of them, make sure it’s clean, keep things “afloat” I guess you could say.

So the monsters being in the bath are the perfect representation at how Ikki sees and feels himself a failure. He failed to keep the baths clean/demon free.

I remember one of the anons (was it OOPArts? 🤷‍♂️ lmao) analyzed / theorized that perhaps the reason why Ikki was hypnotized was because these monsters in the bath represented an enticement where those sacrificed weren’t just dust in the dirt.

“Stay here with us because this dream is better than reality.”

But? I think that kind of enticement is….. very interesting. Because it’s not like he can turn these monsters back into humans.

🧐 If Ikki finds that enticing then that means he’d rather live with demons inside his most sacred space, rather than acknowledge the harsh truths of reality — which?

Damn. A good way to show how easily Ikki represses things (until he can’t anymore).

hmmm nothing directly inspired, but honestly i've gotten into (i.e. made works for on a (semi-)regular basis) a lot of fandoms because i read some fics or whatever and got motivated to try playing with those characters myself :) i think the instance of this that's most easily traced back to a single fanwork is biosh*ck inf*nite, which i played all of and then was ready to move on from, EXCEPT i read this one fic that was like, damn, it was well written, it had a really interesting narrative progression, the dialogue was fresh and lively and in-character... so arguably this one fic was directly responsible for me naming myself robert LMAO

let me first just say that i love all nice comments! it always makes me happy to see someone take a bit of time out of their day to write something kind for something i made, even if it's short or w/e :) that said, what especially makes me smile is when people point out something specific they thought i did really well! that's what really makes me be like, dang, i sure made something people like, and maybe i'm pretty good at some parts of this writing thing too...!
