is all police brutality around the globe an example of systemic white supremacy? or only in america?
#these terms seem so broadly applied that they are rendered essentially meaningless#on top of that the claims are basically unfalsifiable#becoming what amounts to a mutually agreed upon superstition#been saying for a long time that all this woke stuff is just a new form of christianity#by the way this is in no way defending the actions of those police officers#this is a separate point

"But most police officers are good."
No they're not.
In the general population, there are good people and there are bad people. And every police officer is a member of the general population who decided to become a police officer. The police are not a demographic. Every single police officer chose to be a police officer.
Therefore, if most police officers are good, then that means the police force is designed in such a way that good people are drawn to it while bad people are pushed away from it.
And that's been proven to be false many times.
The police are only as good as the laws they enforce and the standards they're held to.
As long as there are laws against victimless actions, people who only want to protect society from dangerous monsters while defending everyone's freedom are pushed away from the police force, and people who get a sick pleasure from ruining people's lives in order to boost their own egos are drawn to the police force.
As long as the police are able to abuse people and get away with it, people who believe in using as little force as necessary are pushed away from the police force, and people who were bullies in high school and want to be even bigger bullies while being seen as the good guys are drawn to the police force.
As long as capitalists who destroy other people in order to increase profits are considered smart businesspeople while poor people who steal food in order to survive are considered criminals, people who wish to improve society are pushed away from the police force, and people who wish to further traumatize those who are already suffering are drawn to the police force.
If you think most police officers are good, what is being done to draw in good people, and what is being done to push away bad people? If you're so sure that the police are good, then you'd have to have an answer to that. But for some reason, you never do.

hi love! i'd like to req emily smut, maybe a little more on the rough side if you'd be comfortable with that, where she gets jealous over reader and shows that through sex
if you want something less vague, it could be when reader brings emily lunch to her office and morgan keeps flirting with her, leading to some action in emily's office
I'll be doing these two together cause why not. I hope you don't mind! thanks for requesting, and I hope you liked it!!
jealousy - Emily Prentiss x fem!reader
summary: see the asks, it's a mix of both, it kind of took a turn, but i hope you still enjoy it! tw: jealousy, a very poor try at dom Emily, fingering, breast play?, idk tws are so hard once you've finished writing🥲, i think that's it lmk if i'm missing smth a/n: no idea if there's a way for me to link both asks here, someone lmk if there is
It's only 8.00 am when you enter the police station, two bodies in the past 12 hours required the early hours, everyone had to be focused, your mind had to be only in one place. However, this wasn't the case for all the people on that room.
The local police officer at the head of the case had some other things in his mind.
He starts by boldly checking you out, looks at you up and down, stopping and staring at the short tank top you were wearing, which makes you uncomfortable enough to cover yourself with your arms as much as you can.
The look your girlfriend sends to him doesn't go unnoticed to you, you start to believe she will set him on fire just with her stare, she places herself covering your body to shake his hand, which she gripes a bit too harder than the usual.
If you didn't know her any better, you would say she is jealous.
But there was just no way, right? Emily Prentiss doesn't get jealous, she's too confident for that, she has you so well wrapped around her finger, she doesn't need to be jealous. Right?
─── ・ 。゚☆: .☽ . :☆゚. ───
"so you think this... unsub like you call him, could be on a killing spree because of his mother?" the agent asks you, staring at the last picture you just sticked to the board with a puzzled look.
"we're positive, we've seen this modus before, it's a clear pattern" you explain
"ugh, so talking about mommy issues" you can't help the little snicker that scapes your lips.
He looks triumphant, fully believes he's got you under his spell. He couldn't be more wrong.
The familiar hand that slides behind you on your lower back makes you jump, Emily comes around you, standing closer than she usually does.
"hey, what were you talking about?" she asks, tilting her head.
"oh, nothing just the case" you say, unbothered.
"just the case huh?" you turn your head to see how she's staring at him, as he walks away from you both.
"Em? what is it?" you ask suspicoisly.
"nothing, i just don't understand, what could be so funny if you were just talking about the case..." she says sarcastically
"oh my god" you try to keep your voice down, but the excitement is still noticeable "oh my god, Emily, you're jealous!"
"what? What do you mean I'm jealous?" her voice a couple octaves higher, making it so obvious to you she's lying.
"that's not even a real answer!" you say.
"ugh..." she lets out one of those little sounds she always makes when she knows she's been caught, you think it's adorable.
"ok, so maybe... maybe I just... don't like the way he looks at my girlfriend, so sue me!" she tries defending herself, but you couldn't take it seriously for your life, you find it adorable, the slight pink tinting her cheeks, her reassuring hand still resting on your lower back.
"Emily, c'mon, you know i love you" you kiss her cheek, she kisses you back but still doesn't look so convinced.
The thing is, you could not be any less attracted to that man, there was no way in the world you would find his flirting any appealing, but the idea of teasing Emily sounds too exciting.
A little fun never hurt anyone, right?
─── ・ 。゚☆: .☽ . :☆゚. ───
"...hellooo, earth to Prentiss?"
Morgan waves a hand in front of Emily’s face and she’s brought back to reality.
"what?" she asks.
"i said, could you please put your frown away, you're scaring Reid" Spencer doesn't even hear the comment, too focused on the case file to even pay attention to the conversation that was taking place right beside him.
"my frown is just where it has to be, thank you" she says raising an eyebrow at that.
Derek gives a scoff, and Rossi chuckles at the whole stupidity of the situation. “If y/n can’t feel your stare burning a hole in her back, when she turns and sees you, she’s sure gonna think you're planning a murder.”
"i might just be" she mutters
"I think I know what's going on" Rossi intervenes "she isn't looking at y/n" he explains pointing at you "I think someone might be jealous"
You are only a few feet away, discussing your last findings with the detective, trying to laugh at every little thing he says, making sure Emily is watching.
"I'm not jealous" she defends "she is so clearly not interested, but what if she needs me to step in?" her attempt to make up a good excuse isn't good enough for any of them to buy it
"if that helps you, but all i can hear is jealousy" a big, cocky smile spread on Morgan's face, it's only making her angrier
"c'mon, or we will too have to face the consequences of the territorial monster of jealousy when it explodes" Rossi says, dragging Morgan away
"yeah, mark your territory" Morgan laughs, while Emily gives him the finger "go get her lover!"
It's your loud chuckle that draws the line for her. When you finally get away from the persistent officer, you turn to see Emily isn't there anymore, taking your phone you see 2 new message from her.
From Em💕: you better knock your shit off baby.
From Em💕: That's it. You're so in for it later.
That one makes your heart throb, it shortly makes you wonder if you had taken it too far. This was not gonna end well for you.
─── ・ 。゚☆: .☽ . :☆゚. ───
Hotch decides to call it for the day, sending you off to start fresh in the morning, when a male voice you had heard enough already, calls your name
"Agent, I was wondering if you would be in for a drink with me?" he asks, eyeing you up and down yet again.
You are so sure you would find it just as disgusting if you weren't so gay, and so in love with your girlfriend.
"oh, sorry but no, actually, I-" a much more familiar female voice interrupts you "she's with me" Emily says.
He can't believe his eyes, Emily wraps her arm around your waist pulling you close to her body "hi babe" she says, kissing your lips, you return the kiss, a bit amused at her jealousy, but loving the possessiveness she was showing.
"Sorry, you were saying?" she asks, the man still open-mouthed, he can't bring himself to even speak.
"nothing... ugh, good night, agents" he dismisses you, and walks away defeated.
Emily and you head out of the bullpen, her arm still securely wrapped around your waist, she slides her hand on your back pocket, grabbing a handful of your ass possessively, making you chuckle.
"wanna talk about it?" you ask her innocently
"oh we are gonna be doing a bit more than talking you and me"
─── ・ 。゚☆: .☽ . :☆゚. ───
Emily doesn't even leave time for the door to close, and you have a split second to register your thoughts before she closes the door and walks over in one long stride and slams you into the wall.
Her mouth attacks yours in a hungry, desperate kiss, her tongue invading in a fight for dominance, that you just let her win, she is determined to have her way with you, and you aren't going to stop her.
She wasted no time in getting her hands on you, roughly rubbing her hands over your exposed skin. You, however, delicately placed your arms around her neck and when you both pulled apart to breathe.
"what's wrong, Em?" you ask her, breathlessly
"you know what? For starters, I didn't like the way he was looking at you" she starts, her breath warm against your skin, she lowers her head getting your neck, kissing it so sweetly you feel you could melt
she is quick to find your pulse point, mouth-opened kisses all over your skin, she nips all over your spot, which makes you moan
"but then imagine my surprise when i saw you, flirting back" her hand finds her way underneath your shirt, reaching for your breast, she finds no more resistance as you aren't wearing a bra, your other nipple peaking through your shirt in excitement.
She uses her free hand to grip your ass, you jump at the feeling whimpering on her mouth, her closeness only making you more excited.
"but you don't like him, do you, baby?" she asks, teasing you, she leaves a soft kiss on your lips
"he wouldn't stand a chance, we both know men aren't really your type" Emily says lowly, nipping at the tender spot behind your ear.
She slips her leg between yours, a soft moan escapes your lips.
"so you just wanted to make me jealous" you're too deep in her dominance to even register anything, letting out soft whimpers every time her thumb brushes against the nub and grips the soft skin of your breast
"god... Emily" you let out, as Emily pulls your thighs apart with her hand.
"you know, baby, if you wanted me to fuck you, you could've just asked" she attacks your neck again, sucking hard enough to leave purple marks you couldn't care any less about now.
Emily presses her fingertips against the crotch of your jeans "your clothes. Take them off or I'll rip them off" she commands, taking a step back from you, leaving too little space to maneuver.
You knew better than to tease her when she was like this. A shiver of excitement runs through your back, and you comply.
You take your jeans off then, your shirt, quickly throwing them somewhere far on the room.
You move to kiss her again, grabbing her by the waist and pulling her in for a kiss, but she doesn't let you, instead she grabs you by your thighs, lifting you up.
You wrap your legs around her waist, she carries you to bed, laying you down just harshly enough to make you even more excited for whats to come.
"you are gonna do exactly what i ask you to tonigh, you know why, baby?" you hold your breath, you're not sure if she actually wants you to answer, but you try nonetheless "because I'm yours"
Your answer seems to satisfy her, as she begins kissing her way down your body, taking special care to nip at your collarbone and stomach to leave more marks than the one's on your neck.
The soft cloth of her shirt rubs against your skin and as if just now realising she was still dressed, you grab the hem of her shirt and help her take it off, throwing it somewhere in the vicinity of the room, like you had done with your own clothes.
And not a moment later, she is back to kissing your body, stopping suddenly when she reached the hemline of your underwear.
Her hand navigates down them, she dips low enough to collect your arousal on her fingertips before rubbing your clit forcefully. Your body reacts immediately, curling forward. "Em!" you moan
"what's wrong baby? Cat got your tongue? use your words, if you want me to stop the teasing, just say it"
"fuck...Em, please, I'm yours, please Emily, yours" you confirm, closing your eyes and letting your hips rock against her hand.
“Who are you this wet for?” Emily demands, nipping at your earlobe.
"just you" you whimper, desperation starting to build in your lower stomach
"that's right baby" the cocky smile on her lips makes your eyes roll. You obviously loved slow, romantic love making with your grilfriend, but you'd be lying if you said you didn't love this side of her just as much.
She continued to move her fingers inside of you and you met each thrust but you almost fell apart when she pressed her thumb against your clit and rubbed hard.
She uses her free hand to play with your breast, you let out a gasp when her tongue moves over it spurred you on and she begins to gently suck on it while her hand still caressed your other breast.
You melt into the mattress at her words. "let go, c'mon baby, I got you" you cum on the spot, as she fucks you through your orgasm, she let's you ride your high.
Emily lays down beside you as you come down from the climax, she kisses your lips softly, lovingly this time, less urgent.
"you know i didn't mean any of it right? I was just playing with you, i love you. He didn't stand a chance" you try to clarify
"yes baby, i know, i love you too, i wasn't so harsh with you right?" she asks concerned. Sometimes you can't believe how Emily's mood changes so fast, from all dominating, incredibly sexy, to concerned, soft girlfriend.
"Em, it was perfect" you say, grabbing her face and pecking her lips "you are perfect" you kiss her again.
"well, good, because we're just getting started, i'm not sure you've learned your lesson yet" she grins.
"Like i said, I'm all yours, agent Prentiss" she sits to straddle you, and you grab her face to pull her in for another kiss.
Emily caresses your neck with her thumb, looking at the purple marks she had previously left "this will be hard to cover tomorrow"
"who says I'm covering them?"
─── ・ 。゚☆: .☽ . :☆゚. ───
Sitting on your usual spot on the plane, you lay behind Emily's amr, resting your head on her shoulder as she reads.
You aren't oblivious of the look on Morgan's face, right in front of you.
The shirt you chose had your neck and cleavage all on display, small and big purple marks cover your skin.
He stares bluntly at you, a cheeky smile covering his face "So y/n, looks like you and Prentiss had yourselves a good night. Care to share?"
Emily gives him the finger.
"in your dreams" you say.

Babysitting: Dick Grayson x fem!reader
A/N: there's an easter egg in this story. Let me know if you get it :D
(testing some fandoms vigilance here) :D
"Me and Kori got some business to take care of."
That freaking sentence!
Of course he and Kori had business to take care of together. Not that he was my boyfriend. not that I was the one who was always left behind with Rachel, Gar and now also Conner and Tim.
Jealous? Of course I wasn't jealous.
Not even a little. I loved those kids.
But who the hell was I in this relationship, a babysitter?!
***
Let me put it straight: I am not hero. I have zero fighting skills (maybe except my wit. quoting someone I knew: sarcasm is my only defense) and I could not hurt a fly, let alone another human. But. I am smart. I am intelligent and I was determined enough to do something more with my life and became a lawyer. Pretty unusual career for someone who was born and raised in Gotham (even If I moved out of this hell hole after graduation). And yet, I made it. Feeling like I was doing something right, standing up for people, defending them.
Well.
One day someone decided to put my thinking and beliefs to the test.
“Counsellor. You have a visitor.” Our new paralegal was kicking her heels nervously in front of my office.
“Ok, Amy, first of all calm down. That’s right. Deep breaths. Unless it’s Joker who came to visit me, I don’t see any reason for you to be so flustered. “ I raised an eyebrow at the girl, who all of a sudden turned red like a beetroot. “Amy?”
“I’m sorry, counsellor…..”
“How many times, do I have to tell you, you don’t need to use that title when we’re alone? You’re like what, five years younger than me?” I playfully shook my head at her
“Sorry, I …..”
“Never mind, we’ll talk about it later” a little pat on her shoulder was enough to bring her back to reality “Now. Who is there to see me?”
“Detective Dick Grayson. Bludhaven police.” Ok, now I understood why Amy was so nervous. This guy was really good looking and for a twenty-year-old that must have been a sight. I was far more reserved. In my years as a trainee solicitor I had my fair share of handsome lawyers, detectives and other officials. One way or another all of them were the same – pretty. Pretty conceited. So at this point, at the age of 25 I was not impressed solely by a lovely face.
“Well, morning detective. How can I be of help?” I reached my hand out and he shook it firmly.
“I need some information about an on-going case of yours.”
“All right. As soon as you prove to me you can get the access to the confidential records I can’t see any reason to deny it.” I shrugged and lead him into my office.
And that was how it started. One case somehow lead to another, and another and another. He might have thought he had me cornered, but I was a lawyer. My job was to see patterns and predict the outcomes of actions and behaviors. I had him figured sooner than he knew and before he realized I got him right when I wanted him when he confessed to switching out cases just to have a chance to work with me. And then, some well chosen words, two or three dates, some more or less heated kissed and we were a couple. Oh, how I loved this boy! Like crazy. And he was very eager to use that against me.
“Detective Grayson? How can I be of help to you today?” I asked with my most professional voice noticing him standing at the entrance to my office. “And how long have you been standing there?” I smirked at him.
“Long enough” he pouted “you are just glowing when you’re working you know that? You have that irresistible spark in your eyes….” he closed the door coming closer to me and crouching on the desk eyeing me carefully.
“I’m sorry, how exactly did you get here?” I tilted my head in confusion.
“You know, Amy has a soft spot for me.” He put on his most charming smile.
“Yeah I’m aware of that. Clear sign I need to hire better security.”
“Is that so?” he grabbed me so I had to raise from the chair and stand between his legs.
“I’m busy, Dick.” I objected pointing towards the pile of documents.
“Mhm. I bet you are” his hands was now on my waist, pulling me closer, his face inches away from mine “I am too. Extremely busy….” He whispered and leaned in, closing the distance completely. I hated him. He had the audacity to show up in my office, uninvited, in the middle of the day, with all his charm and distract me from my duties. He was reckless, irresponsible and childish. And a hell of a good kisser. Just a touch of his lips on mine made me want more as I let him caress my face and my back. Only for a second though, as my rational thinking made me pull away and smirk at his disappointed expression.
“Oh, come on, Dickie. Don’t be a child….” I ruffled his hair and sat back down “Now, shoo. I really have a lot of work to do and if you want me back home tonight…..”
“Believe me, I have a whole plan for tonigh.” His eyes turned darker with lust as he said it.
“Can’t wait then. Hope you won’t disappoint me, detective.”
***
I came home late. Really late. Absolutely shagged, hoping my boyfriend would be there to ease my stress and anxiety with just his presence, but in fact I was about to be disappointed. The lights were off, the apartment cold and empty. No matter how sad it was for me I was a bit used to him working up late. He was a detective after all. Maybe he was at some undercover operation at the moment. Calling him was not an option since it may put him in danger, so trying to shake the emotions of the day by myself I just got ready to bed and before I realized I was dozing off.
I had no idea what hour it was, but at some point in the night I was woken by the squeak of the bed on the other side and a pair of arms sneaking around me. Dick was back safe.
“Hi.” I muttered, recognizing those hands and smell and shifting my position to get closer to him, resting my head on his chest.
“Hi baby” he whispered back, kissing my forehead and running a hand through my hair.
“Work?”
“You have no idea.” He sighed deeply and I caressed his side gently, trying to make him relax, but it didn’t bring the effect I wanted.
“Are you all right?” I was now totally awake, propping myself on the elbow to look straight into those beautiful blue eyes of his “are you hurt?” concern in my voice was so audible that a flash of pain crossed his face.
“I'm fine. I’m sorry I made you worried. And sorry I woke you.”
“Don’t ever be sorry. Honestly, I could never have a good sleep knowing you are out. Remind me why I agreed to have a detective boyfriend?“ I smirked but he was not in a mood for verbal teasing.
“I love you” he whispered closing his eyes, hiding everything there was inside, all the emotions kept under lock and key.
“Dick?” now I was serious too.
“Yes?” he opened them again and looked straight at me.
“You can tell me everything. There’s no need to hide. Whatever you did or whatever happened I have my ways to get you out of trouble.”
“I know. I know. I just love you so fucking much. I… I just need you next to me now, all right? Please?”
„That I can do” I laid back down, hugging him tightly, breathing him in, but at this very moment I knew something was off. We both held to each other, but it was more desperate than loving. More “I have a secret, I can’t tell you and it's killing me” than “I want to share my secret with you.”
***
I was spending another sleepless night alone just tossing and turning in the bed. Last three days was a disaster. At first glance nothing changed between me and Dick but under the surface …. Tormented by my own thoughts, I was truly thankful when my work phone broke the silence of the night.
“Y/L/N speaking” my voice was still hoarse, but it didn't stop me from using official tone.
“We need you here, counsellor. It’s an emergency and it requires your immediate attention.”
“On my way. Where exactly is here?”
***
Holy shit! The place was a disaster! Blood, massacred bodies, about ten injured people and two destroyed buildings. And one person accused of it all on the run.
“How could you let him escape!?” I was about to tear my hair out, but there was no time as I had to deal with the witnesses and potential accomplices taken to custody. Those who apparently were aware of their civil rights and refused to say anything without lawyer present. And Bludhaven police called me to be this lawyer. Fine, after all I had nothing else to do. “You know what, don’t answer that, just… do your freaking job and find the gangster boss who….”
Before I could even finish the sentence, said boss fell right in front of me.
“What the….?” I muttered looking up noticing the characteristic cape. The colors were a blur but everyone knew it was Robin. I sighed deeply and rubbed my forehead. Whoever was behind that mask I should have hated him, given how many laws he was breaking on a daily basis. The truth was, however, he was making my job slightly easier. And for that, ironically, I was thankful.
***
It took me another three days after which everything dawned on me. Dick was visiting my office every day, trying to get to know what I was working on and even when I refused to give away professional secrets, I knew he gathered some information. And then, miraculously, during night, all my perpetrators and criminals were brought to police station by no one other than Robin. Of course he himself never showed up. I would have to be blind, deaf and stupid not to see the connection.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” I asked as soon as he stepped through my office again “and don’t give me that I don’t know what you’re talking about look. Let’s talk seriously, all right?”
“All right." he closed the door making sure it was shut tight and took a step towards me scratching his head "I’m sorry. I was worried that if you find out….”
“No.” I interrupted him.
“Sorry?” his surprised look made me use all the strength to hold back a laugh. He looked like a wigged kid.
“You don’t get to think so little of me. Did you really think I would leave? Or worse – was it the classic I was scared someone would hurt you bullshit? Dick, god damn it! I'm a lawyer. Do you have any idea how many times I got death threats? And here I am! Still alive and breathing! "
“I’m sorry.” He repeated.
“I’m also pretty case-hardened with keeping secrets, so I would never give yours away.”
“I know and….” He looked down, embarrassed and defeated under the weight of my arguments.
“I got a simple conclusion here: you are an idiot. Foolish, egoistic, inane….”
“Ok, that’s enough….” He stood up abruptly, making me shut up by kissing me, pulling me close so all my mind would get blurry and distracted by his toned chest, muscles and the way he was holding me, like his (or mine) life depended on it.
“Nice try, Grayson” I said pulling away too quickly for him to enjoy being in control of the situation.
“Please, don’t leave me. I can’t lose you.”
“You’re only proving my point here. I'm not going anywhere. But no more keeping me in the dark, all right? I told you once - I can keep you out of trouble, not the other way round. After all, you are a wanted vigilante.”
“Whatever you say” he pulled me in a kiss again and this time I let him. But still, he was about to apologize properly when we were alone.
***
From then on, everything went quick. Rachel, Gar, Kori. Titans. San Francisco. Gotham again (meeting Batman was a bit weird, but enjoyable experience), Dick dying and coming back to life (I almost killed him for that when he magically resurected). Conner, Tim. Wild ride. Wild. Oh, and somewhere in the meantime Dick ditched Robin in favor of Nightwing. Well, he looked hot in this black and blue outfit and I couldn't...... back to the point!
But I didn’t mind as long as Dick kept his promise of not keeping me away. At least for as long as in his own words it started to get really dangerous. When he reopened the Titans tower, training Gar, Rachel and Jason, I was there, watching over them, helping them crack cases and even joining on the field. I felt like a part of a team. But slowly, especially after Jason left (from the time perpective I think he was the only one to ever understood how it felt like to be cut off) my role was more like a caregiver. I was there to take care of the wounds, to throw a joke or defuse tension. Of course, I was still giving some advice, some tricks on how to play bad guys psychologically etc. but I knew I was being omitted. Dick was more distant, more tensed and more reserved than before, not that I blamed him. But I missed him. I accepted his vigilante lifestile, never complaining, but I wanted to feel like he still needed me to be his. His girlfriend, equal to him (but maybe smarter) and not someone to look after a bunch of kids (who I loved, but still).
Me and Kori has some business to take care of.
Right.
In a while he was always doing something with Kori. I liked her, truly, we were pretty good friends, but it was not right. I mean, I get that, she was a freaking fire princess, gifted with supernatural powers, all confident and fierce. All I had was logical thinking, connecting facts, fast reacting, resourcefullnes and imagination. It was more than enough to be a lawyer, but apparently not to be a part of the Titans team.
I wasn't jealous of Kori, really. I didn't envy her, I was just sad that all my good traits weren’t enough for Dick to consider me a valuable member of the team. Never letting me into real action anymore, never allowing me to train with the rest, even Tim, who wasn’t exactly skilled with his gear. Always working with Kori. And I knew confronting Dick about it would end up the same way as years ago. I can’t risk you getting hurt. I don’t want to see you in pain. I’m only focused on you when you are out in the open. Well, I understood his point of view, one way or another he was right, can’t deny that, but he could not possibly be there for me all the time. I had to be able to be more than just an easy to hurt one.
“You good?” oh, now he was realizing something was happening. Great job, Sherlock.
“No, I’m not” I always prided myself of being honest and direct in my communication with him. Boys can be so oblivious at times.
“Do we have to talk about it?” He looked at me carefully, his eyes begging me to postpone this conversation since he absolutely had to go investigate.
“Yes.” I nodded “Later. Now go.”
“Thank you.” He sighed and kissed my temple lovingly. I missed that.
“Go deal with that business of yours and come back to me. In one piece.”
“Promise.”
"Take care of him, ok?" I send Kori a sad look and she just nodded understanding everything he couldn't.
***
“Hey, brief, are you ok?” Conner used the nickname steming from the times I forgot knocking me out of my trance. Eventually, I ended up back at Star Labs with Conner and Tim, watching them fight against each other. Or rather Conner standing in place and taking poorly aimed Tim’s punches without flinching in the slightest.
“Take a guess.” I muttered “you should aim a bit lower, Tim”
“What?” the newly-appointed Robin looked at me confused.
“Lower” I emphasized “Conner may be superboy, but he’s still half human. And humans have weak points, so aim lower.”
Tim shrugged in a whatever manner, but stuck to my advice and to both, his and Conner’s surprise the latter hissed in pain.
“What the…..?” Superboy gasped turning his gaze on me. So did Tim and Bernard.
“Do you want to tell us something, Y/N?” the scientist asked “are you hiding some supertalents?”
“Just observational skills. Mixed with experience in medical records during my lawyer times.”
“That is interesting. You see anything else to use against Conner?”
“Wait. What? Use against me? I did not sign up for this!” Conner protested watching as my eyes twinkled in excitement. Now, I had my chance to prove to them I was more than met the eye.
***
“What is going on here?!”
“Oh, hey, Dick, your back. How was your business?” I brushed the sweat from my forehead and smiled at him. I couldn’t remember last time I was so happy and fulfilled. For the last two hours I was sparring with the boys under Bernard’s watchful gaze. It was exhilarating. “She’s the business I suppose.”
“Not voluntarily.” The pink-haired girl smirked “so you’re the girlfriend he was worried about on the way here?”
“I was not worried…..”
“I’m sorry about him. He can be …. Intense…” I cut Dick off. "I'm Y/n?"
“Tell me about it” she rolled her eyes “I’m Jinx.”
“The witch? Can you show me any spell to …..”
“All right. Y/n, I think we need to have that talk now.” my boyfriend, if that was still the case grabbed my hand and started dragging me away.
“It was nice to meet you, Jinx. I’ll catch you up later!” I managed to say in her direction before Dick picked me up and threw me over his shoulder still walking away. "Put me down, now!"
***
“What were you doing there?”
“It turns out, I'm pretty good at finding opponents weakness and turning it against them”
“Tim being the opponent?” Dick laughed
“Conner, in fact. And don;t be condescending.”
“What?!”
“Mhm. Did you know that he has a soft spot just right under his belly button? I might have bruised him with the impact I put there.”
“You did what?”
“Yeah. So many years of wasted potential." I blew a raspberry "And that’s because of someone who has been treating me like a babysitter for the past couple weeks.”
“You mean me? I never…..” I cleared my throat suggestively and it made him hesitate “ok, maybe I did. But you never said a word!”
“Because I knew it would lead to fighting with you. And despite everything I hate seeing you lose those arguments. Come on, you always surrender in verbal sparring.”
“Y/N….”
“It’s always you and Kori going everywhere together, dealing with stuff together, cracking cases together. I felt like I wasn't needed anymore. Apart from watching over kids.”
“Because they trust you. You are a role model for them.”
“One of the role models, Dick. Just one. And that’s nice. I just want you to realize I am so much more than just a bystander.”
“I don’t…..”
“Blah, blah, blah. I know all your arguments inside and out. Hurt, pain, loss… Please."I rolled my eyes at him "I’m good, all right? I want to learn to fight.”
“Are you jealous of Kori? There’s no need.”
“You idiot” I smacked his head. Lightly but he still hissed and looked at me with hurted expression. “You don’t get a word I'm saying! I am not jealous of her. I'm furious beacuse of you treating me different than anyone else!"
“Because you are the one I love!”
“I love you too." I said, more sofly, more gently and locked my hands on his neck, playing with the hair on his nape. That little gesture always made him relax and this time was no different as he hummed in pleasure "but I never told you to stop fighting, did I?"
"No...." he leaned into my touch so just to tease him I withdrew my hands. "Please, don't stop" soft, almost inaudible whisper got me melting "I missed that....."
"So, you agree with me that you've been pushing me away."
"I never said that and ....." I kissed him before he said anything else. Oh, the way it turned him on instantly.... Out of instinct his hands found their place on my waist holding onto me, caressing my skin, bringing me closer. Clearly he did miss me. I almost gave up, so lost in his touch, his warmth, wanting more and more and ......
"So, you agree with me....." I pulled away, not letting him get away with answer this easily.
"Yes, I fucking agree with everything you are saying." He rested his forehead on mine. "I'm sorry. I never meant to push you away. Never meant to make you feel like you didn't belong. I don't know what I would do without you."
"Hm, I know" I hummed "you would be absolutely lost. And probably dead. More than once."
"Mhm" he muttered. "Please I need you. You are like the only stable thing in my life...."
"I'm always here, Dick" I hugged him tighly, knowing well enough he was on the verge of breaking from the last weeks' stress and pressure and in desperate need of comfort and warm embrace "I'm always here. But I don't want to be a liability, ok? Or a housemother."
"Ok....." he held me tighter, not ready to let go.
"Let me train. I won't go against you, but please...." I kissed his temple, not to make him break, but just to assure him I was going to be fine. That we were going to be fine.
"Ok....." he chuntered "I'm tired....."
"I know, Dickie, I know. But you are not alone in this mess, babe. You are not alone."
Guess I was babysitting again. but this time, out of my own volition, and the fact that I had a choice in the matter made me feel good. After all, he was my baby.

I have a question for you regarding the whole seriesbof Diabolik Lovers.
Is it wrong to like the series?
The whole series falls under the dark romance troupe. But many people do not like it due to the fact the constant abuse and torture Yui is put through, how the tragic past of brothers the doesn't justify their actions towards Yui, and the romancitization of a abusive relationship.
Not using Stockholm Syndrome because it doesn't have any psychological trials but was coined by a police officer to discredit a female hostage during a bank robbery.
https://apnews.com/article/stockholm-syndrome-history-origin-023ddcd3a14ac00a0ba88feb838574b3
First of, thanks for the question anon because I really wanted to make post about this exact topic so this is the perfect opportunity!
As of your question, I think we really have to understand, as a fandom, that diabolik lovers is not for everyone and is targeted at a very specific demographic, so of course it makes perfect sense why there's people who would not like the content diabolik lovers has and criticize or hate. Personally, I think that as long you don't normalize, justify, or romanticize the actions of the male characters, as long as you understand that a lot of the stuff the characters do to the protagonist is not okay and is NOT ROMANTIC, you know why there's people who feel uncomfortable by Diabolik lovers and in general you don't defend these types of behaviors and don't view them as romantic..it's not wrong to like Diabolik lovers and I don't think liking it makes you a bad person or a person with questionable morals.
I think anyone should be allowed to like media with problematic stuff without being questioned about their morality as long as the media in question doesn't normalize the questionable things. Which, unlike popular belief, I don't believe diabolik lovers normalize those horrible things, but that's a topic for another post. Anyway, I think we also have to take into consideration that a lot of the people in the fandom got into DL because of the anime (which is a more censored version compared to the games) and not really because of the games (myself included) and not all of them are aware of the bad things the diaboys did to the MC so that's why, till this day, some of them still defend the diaboys, even if its a small minority.
Anywho, I know there's a huge debate (that I personally won't get into) about whether fiction affects reality or not, and because of that a lot of non-DL likers believe DL fans think that type of behavior is okay and that justifies serious situations like SA or torture, which is the opposite (I would like to say that compared to other fandoms, the DL fandom ACTUALLY is aware of the bad behaviors of the characters and do call them out, which you can see countless of posts doing so) because we, in fact, do not (though there are people who justify the actions, but again, it's a small minority)
Is it wrong to like diabolik lovers? No, at least I don't think it's a bad thing. I think DL is one of those series that show you perfectly how victims of abuse can become abusers and do bad things and that not all abuse victims become good people. of course, I agree with anyone saying that their abuse doesn't justify their actions towards Yui but again, it's more of an explanation than a justification, it's the reason why they behaved that way. I think we should also take into consideration that a a fair amount of time has passed between the first games and the diaboys no longer behave like they used to and are way kinder with the mc (at the end of the day, it is an otome game so it makes sense).
I am a firm believer that creators should have the freedom to add a problematic thing (as long as it doesn't normalize it, of course) without spoonfeeding the consumer of how the bad thing in question is bad constantly, because the consumer should already know that and because the media makes it clear that it's bad, and I believe diabolik lovers does that. While reading the translations I always thought that the game made a very clear distinction between what actions were supposed to be romantic and what actions weren't supposed to be romantic. I believe that a lot of the actions of the diaboys did were supposed to show us how bad their past trauma affected them to the point it affected their personality and the way they treat others (not only MC). I think DL in general makes it clear that the behaviors of the diaboys towards the mc aren't okay and, believe it or not, the diaboys do suffer consequences from treating the mc like dogshit lol.
I know a lot of people are not going to agree with this particular take, but taking into account you asked me, I just wanted to put my two and two together on what I personally thought regarding this topic. if you don't like Diabolik lovers and you hate it for being problematic, I don't blame you and I understand why, at the end of the day it's extremely disturbing and definitely not for anyone. Even as someone who has been consuming DL content for years now, it does make me very uncomfortable sometimes and disturbed me to the point there are a lot of translations I never finished reading because I got creeped out lol, but the character development of this game makes it up for those times.
To conclude, no it's not wrong to like DL as long as you're aware that none of the behaviors displayed by the diaboys are not normal nor in any way justified.

Even if they are one timed characters, I just can't stop thinking about the irony of Hyde's crimes being discovered then tracked with the help of two servant women.
The younger and innocent maid traumatized by such cruel violence when her mind was at most peace, and the older much experienced head maid delighted by these turns of events.
Invisible women with crucial, yet at the eyes of the upper class invisible jobs. I do even think that in a crueler novel the young maid would have been the victim of Hyde's murderous rage towards her honest living, but RLS made a huge point by making sir Danvers Carew the victim, and not the maid.
By making this young maid the spectator of Hyde's murder it really drive the point of huge was the misstep of letting all of those emotions explode at seeing once again the antithesis of Hyde as a mask, Jekyll as a man, and how all of these hidden actions affect everyone around him whenever he wants or not.
The young maid was honest, she was feeling romantic, she was not hiding anything from anyone, she was watching the moon until she saw how the light reflected sir Danvers Carew's kidness, and revealed Hyde's rage. She told everything that happened to the police, and get this, Hyde probably doesn't even know how the police knew it was him, he didn't even notice the young maid by the window, but she recognized him.
Then there is the older head maid, the one working for mister Hyde in Soho surrounded by poverty, and day to day survival. Could you imagine being her? Serving Hyde when he is at that home with such efficent façade? Seeing the hypocrisy of a despicable upper class man putting serious money into transforming the inside of his Soho house (because she probably knows that the house is only a hiding place) into a place of pure luxury, and not use it while her neighbors don't know if they would eat at night?
“A flash of odious joy appeared upon the woman’s face. “Ah!” said she, “he is in trouble! What has he done?”
The head maid doesn't try to even defend her employer, she doesn't try to be privy or to direct Utterson, and the inspector quietly into the house to keep up appaerances. It only took one single push from Utterson to change the response "it's impossible to see his rooms" to "he fucked up?? Please come in and search everything!"
No wonder the woman was so happy to see an officer of the law come to the house. Who knows how Hyde treated her when he was there, considering that he is a way for Jekyll to let himself feel free of any guilt for his impulses, and inhibitions.
Maybe Hyde thought of himself as untouchable because he was only dewling on the under belly of London, where he thought that he could get away with anything. However, at the reminder of his hypocrisy towards morality, and how he is an outlier regarding his "needs" of self divide in the form of sir Danvers Carew, Hyde forgot something.
Hyde forgot how he couldn't resist to keep his upper class lifestyle, and how with the upper class lifestyle comes the "need" of having servants around you, the very servants that will watch everything that you do, whenever it's on accident or on purpose.
#Robert Louis Stevenson doesn't seem to keen of having a lot of female characters in his novels#I mean kidnapped only has one and she only appeared once after being named#And it's such a shame because these two could have participated more if the narrative of J&H had a few changes#Because let's be honest this narrative is tight and pointed as a well made drum#jekyll and hyde weekly#the strange case of dr jekyll and mr hyde#gabriel utterson#edward hyde

I was reading your answer to an ask about your idea on Ga On not knowing Yohan was dead, and how that would impact his relationship with an alive Soo Hyun. It really stuck with me because I had actually been wondering about something similar, but with more of a twist. You mentioned not really liking it due to that meaning Yo Han was choosing to actually harm Ga On by not telling him, which sucks a lot. I guess I subconsciously had a similar feeling lol because I was wondering about if for whatever reason Yo Han was forced not to reveal he was alive (for example something went wrong with the escape plan or maybe someone dangerous is out to get him so he can't expose Elijah to danger, etc).
This would mean Elijah also wouldn't know, so Ga On would be stuck with the mystery of whether he's dead or alive since he saw the escape plans and maybe later finds out about the Swiss hospital donations, but clearly Yo Han isn't here. It could also be interesting because ofc he's guilty and doesn't know what to do with himself in the aftermath, but he needs to take care of Elijah.
This could also introduce an interesting dynamic where even though Elijah loves Ga On a lot, she also is angry at him for being apart of Yo Han's supposed death, even tho she's super angry at Yo Han too. And of course she's lonely and scared and still needs and loves Ga On, so that might make things more complicated.
Furthermore, we can see Soo hyun's dynamic with Ga On and see their relationship have to change due to their different values and experiences. I think that Soo hyun would of course be upset about all the corruption but she wouldn't fully understand the extent and the inherent corruption in the system. Meanwhile, Ga On, especially grappling with Yo Han maybe being dead "because of him" might have less patience for this and even become reckless or consider actions he wouldn't before due to his frustration with the new corruption in the system and his by-the-book efforts not being able to change things, too tunnel-visioned to consider a different approach like in your WHTD.
I think it would be really interesting to see Soo Hyun's dynamic with Ga On in a way that is two-sided and allows her and Ga On to be more honest with each other and expose, for lack of another word, their true selves or feelings that they were hiding for each other for one reason or another. I think it would also be nice to see Soo Hyun have the chance to fall out of love with him or move on in a sense, even if that'll be probably very tough. I would love to see her growth.
Of course I guess that the main mystery would probably be around Yo Han's "death", Soo Hyun investigating stuff as a police officer and maybe having to directly reckon with corruption in her job and how it is everywhere, and also the new powers trying to take hold after Yo Han basically cleared the stage?
I'm very sorry I overstepped with this ask, I just love your work and you really inspired me, so I wanted to share my thoughts and see if they might interest you.
P.S. This is just me spitballing now, but I think it would be interesting to see Soo Hyun's dynamic with Elijah, as maybe she can be a comfort for her, especially since she's conflicted about Ga On now even tho she loves him. Of course she's not immediately sold on her, and she knows she really dislikes Yo Han, but she tended to agree with those sentiments before and may even think they're fair game or kinda deserved, tho of course she may get upset about it if Soo hyun goes too far or really insists. It might even be a breath of fresh air if Ga On in his grief sometimes struggles to address Yo Han's flaws or focuses on defending him, even tho this is unfair towards Elijah and he regrets it everytime it happens. Maybe Soo Hyun even stays at the house a bit for Elijah and to watch over Ga On, which would be complicated for everyone, like Ga On might struggle with her being in a place he only associated with Yo Han with him not there. And Elijah may feel conflicted about Ga On and Soo hyun maybe ending up together out of her own abandonment etc fears (she doesn't know about Ga On feelings for Yo Han, tho maybe it gets obvious), so she might meddle or lash out, or sometimes even try to bring them together sometimes if she "just wants to get it over with" or smth. I would also like to see her explore not only the grief of losing family like her dad and even Yo Han, but also more specifics on how she feels about her mom.
Ooooooh, that's a really fascinating concept! And would also be terribly painful, in more ways than one x'D
But it would definitely put a rather interesting spin on Ga On and Soo Hyun's relationship. Because Soo Hyun would be alive to be told the truth about the fire and, as you say, have to face the corruption and such, but also deal with a Ga On who, for lack of a better word, would probably get a little bit obsessed with finding Yo Han. He'd probably tell Soo Hyun about his doubts about Yo Han's death and his need to confirm it, but it's more like trying to find a man he hopes is alive but also can't prove is alive.
And how would Soo Hyun deal with that? Would she write it off as a grief response? And try to gently tell him that no, Yo Han is most definitely dead and Ga On needs to move on even if he feels guilty. Or would she agree with him and help him search for answers?
To be honest, I think she'd lean towards the first — out of purely selfish reasons because while she's not proud of it, she kind of wishes Yo Han was dead? Because that means Ga On is finally free. Except she'd realise pretty soon that, nope, Ga On is in no way free. In fact, he's worse than ever and seems even more determined not to let Yo Han go.
Which would probably make her even more determined to "help" Ga On move on.
And I don't mean this as an insult towards Soo Hyun. I'd argue this is the logical conclusion someone would draw if put in her position. Like, sure, Ga On can claim that the blueprints and donations to the Swiss hospital suggest that Yo Han is alive, but the whole "he wouldn't leave Elijah on her own" is a very good counterargument. Also, claiming that Yo Han would fake his own death twice in as many days is kind of ludicrous, you know? (that fucking drama queen, I swear x'D ) So it's more reasonable to assume that, maybe, Ga On is just not handling the grief all that well and is coming up with wild theories to ease his own conscience.
Also, while Soo Hyun would accept that Yo Han didn't cause the fire, I'm worried she might still double down on the rest of the illegal stuff. Like, sure, Yo Han didn't murder his own brother, but he faked the trials and then murdered a bunch of people on live television instead. I think that would be difficult for Soo Hyun to swallow even if she did admit to herself that, yeah, the corruption is bad and those people would probably never have been punished if it hadn't been for Yo Han. But that doesn't mean she has to accept what Yo Han did. Only made worse by Ga On's insistence that Yo Han might be alive and his obsession to find him.
Basically, I think Soo Hyun might stay stubborn because she can still tell that she's about to lose Ga On to Yo Han.
And I think she and Ga On would end up arguing about Yo Han a lot. In a way where both of them are right but also wrong, and they're both too stubborn to reach a compromise because, for once, Ga On isn't going to bend to Soo Hyun's will because it's not just his own well-being that's on the line. He wants Yo Han to be alive not just for his sake and to soothe his own guilt, but because Elijah is grieving, too. And he'd probably get frustrated with Soo Hyun's insistence that no, Yo Han is dead, let it go. Because Yo Han secretly being alive would be good scenario, you know?
Except Soo Hyun doesn't agree because then she'd have to arrest him. And hearing that would make Ga On defensive because, sure, what Yo Han did was illegal but how can Soo Hyun say that she'll take Yo Han away from Elijah again? Can't she look the other way for once? And Soo Hyun would get upset because why is Ga On defending Yo Han all the time? And Ga On would get upset because no, he isn't, he just wants Elijah to be happy. And on and on and on it goes.
The fights they would have, my friends.
And it would kind of turn into an opposite version of chapter 38 of Who Holds the Devil, I guess? Where Ga On is trying to be what Soo Hyun wants him to be, but he keeps taking Yo Han's side because his guilt and grief won't let him do anything else. And Soo Hyun has never experienced that before. She's used to Ga On always taking her side in the important issues and now, all of a sudden, he doesn't. And I do think that would result in her falling out of love with him eventually. If nothing else because, sooner or later — after one too many times when Soo Hyun tries to tell Ga On that Yo Han has been a bad influence on him, corrupting his thoughts — Ga On will have to tell her that no, this is who he is. And who he's always been. And he can't keep pretending that he's all good and righteous.
He's not as bad as Yo Han wanted him to be, but also not as good as Soo Hyun tried to make him.
And, once they reach that point, a lot of things would unravel.
As for Elijah, I think she would flip into becoming Yo Han's biggest defender. Because, sure, even if she often talked shit about him, it still showed that he was her entire world in many ways. And I think her reaction when she finds out that Ga On told Soo Hyun about the document on Yo Han's computer is pretty telling. She didn't look happy at all. And I think that's partly because she felt betrayed — that Ga On would tell someone else something Elijah told him in confidence — but also because suddenly someone else is criticising Yo Han. Someone who might try to have Yo Han arrested. Someone Elijah doesn't know or trust yet. Her relationship with Yo Han is incredibly complex and full of anger and trauma, but she's undeniably protective of him.
So if she genuinely thought Yo Han was dead? Elijah would bite the head off of anyone who offended Yo Han. Especially since she's now gotten Ga On's explanation of what happened during the fire and, provided that she still believes it (which I think she will), it turns out that Yo Han was innocent.
And she just lost him.
And while she's probably also very angry at Yo Han for leaving her — and isn't afraid to express that — I think her sense of loyalty would still kick in every time someone else tries to criticise him. Only she is allowed to do that.
So, to be honest, I think Elijah would be pretty vicious against both Ga On and Soo Hyun. In an eerily similar way to how she felt about Yo Han while she still thought he was responsible for the fire. The difference of course being that Ga On and Soo Hyun would be better at helping her work through that anger, but it would be far from easy. Even more so if Elijah feels that they're in some part responsible for Yo Han's death. But, sadly, she'd still have very little choice in some regards since, well, who else does she have at that point?
So that's a terribly tragic aspect of this scenario: Elijah has to start another cycle of mourning someone she loves while relying on people she thinks are responsible for that loved one's death.
And, to be honest, I'm not sure I have the heart to do that to her >__>
But I find the concept of Soo Hyun staying at the house for a while absolutely fascinating. Because, to no one's surprise, I'm very fond of the concept of the house and what it symbolises in terms of family and belonging. And I agree that Ga On would probably struggle because Soo Hyun shouldn't be there. He loves her, of course, but she doesn't fit in. And, sometimes, he'd probably turn around and almost startle at the sight of her because it's just wrong to see her there.
It should be Yo Han, not Soo Hyun. Those two parts of Ga On's world shouldn't cross like this.
(Complete side note: Imagine Ga On going to Yo Han's bedroom on the nights he can't sleep — which is probably often. It's obviously been left untouched since Yo Han's "death" and Ga On while wouldn't dream of sleeping in Yo Han's bed or anything like that — that would feel both impolite and improper — he'd probably fall asleep in one of the armchairs more than once. Because that's where he feels closest to Yo Han and, most likely, one of the few rooms where Soo Hyun hasn't gone. Or at least not often enough that Ga On will have conflicting impressions. Everywhere else — like the study, the kitchen, Ga On's own bedroom — will have memories of Soo Hyun overlapping those of Yo Han, causing cracks and confusion. But not in Yo Han's bedroom. That room remains Yo Han's and Ga On would protect it like a sanctuary — like something sacred.
Because it is)
But yeah! It would be a spectacular and very fascinating little mess, wouldn't it? And while Soo Hyun and Ga On's relationship would unravel — much faster than if Yo Han had been present — it would also teach them to be more honest with each other. They would have to work through some of the issues they have in their relationship, and while I think they would both try to hold on for a while, saying that no, we still love each other, they'd eventually realise that their romantic relationship isn't going to last. Too much has changed. Ga On is too stuck on Yo Han and Soo Hyun's worldview is slowly crumbling, both when it comes to Ga On and their society as a whole.
They're suddenly moving at different paces.
And, while it might sound harsh, I think Elijah would prefer them breaking up. Even if she'd be angry at both Ga On and Soo Hyun, out of the two of them she'd no doubt choose Ga On. And as you point out, she has some pretty serious abandonment issues. So she'd probably be jealous of Soo Hyun and be afraid that she'd steal Ga On from her now that he is one of the few people she has left. Especially once Elijah realises that Soo Hyun already has tried to take Ga On from her by tryinf to find proof that Yo Han caused the fire. Because that was essentially to prove to Ga On that Yo Han was a bad man he should distance himself from. And, most likely, that would mean distancing himself from Elijah too.
So, uh, Elijah would probably not be sad at all if she was told that Soo Hyun and Ga On are no longer a couple.
But that's just my guess! Or how I would approach it, I guess I should say? My takes are always subject to change, though, as seen with my initial idea where I did a complete 180 and changed my mind about a key part of the concept x'D
Thank you for sharing! It's a very fascinating thought! Though, again, very painful.
Then again, what isn't when it comes to these idiots?
#Amethystina Replies#geniam#I feel like I might not have addressed all of the aspects you mentioned#But please excuse that#I'm not trying to ignore them or anything#I'm just feverish and should probably go to bed x'D#So I think I'll do that#I'm genuinely groggy x'D

hole in one — chapter 43. [part 1]
⌕ synopsis: at one of the most prestigious universities in the country, where everyone is battling to be the center of attention, yu jimin is just a regular. people want her because of her beauty, but all she cares about is sharing her freaky stuff with her friends and passing her subjects. although there's one thing that might push her out of her comfort zone, revenge. when nakamura kazuha, one of the richest and most well-known students of NCU, starts to spread gossip about her for thousands of followers to see, jimin decides to get back by taking away the thing kazuha cares about the most: her perfect girlfriend, the young golf star, kwon haru.
masterlist | prev | next
[half written chapter]
seungkwan, yunjin, yizhuo and minjeong got out of a red car and walked to the entrance of the building where their friend lived.
the initial plan was to get jimin to leave her apartment and go with them to the NCU administration offices, where they would try to get a date for a meeting where she could defend herself and explain what had actually happened.
they rode in the elevator, all of them with tightly furrowed brows, determined as if they were the police going to apprehend a suspect. they went down the hallway once the doors opened, in diamond formation, with seungkwan leading them, taking heavy steps.
"what are you guys doing?"
karina asked, destroying the atmosphere of marching toward war they had created. the girl was standing in her doorway, wrapped in the robe she wore to lay down around her house, looking at them about to burst out laughing.
next to her in the hallway were the golfers. haru, minhyuk, eunseo and giselle surrounded the girl and copied her incredulous look at their friends who had just appeared walking like the sanderson sisters.
"we came to save you, what are they doing here?" explained seungkwan, puzzled.
the newcomers approached the door of their friend's apartment, joining the rest.
"that's what i was about to ask." said karina turning her gaze to haru.
"we also came to save her." she replied simply.
"why does everyone want to save me?" complained the reason that brought them all there, closing her eyes and leaning her head against the door frame in frustration.
"because you don't do it on your own." folded her arms yunjin and raised an eyebrow.
"and you're going to regret it in the future." ningning added.
"we're here because you don't deserve what happened." opined minhyuk.
"because i feel it's my responsibility to help you." confessed haru.
"sorry, is that scent coming from your apartment?" interrupted juyeon wrinkling her nose repeatedly, as if she wanted to stop the air from passing.
"yes, jimmy, goodness, what died in there?" agreed winter with a disgusted look on her face.
"cheese in bad state and distress." she muttered and lowered her head.
"go take a bath, quick, and change." ordered the male golfer.
"excuse me, do i have to because you tell me to?" replied the girl defensively.
"jimin, go take a bath." repeated haru.
"okay, haru." her head dropped again, defeated, and she entered her apartment walking in the direction of the bathroom.
"so..." began the girl from china. "what's the plan?"
"haru got a meeting for today with the committee in charge." minhyuk informed. "and my father is a lawyer, so i asked him for a small favor." the boy raised his hand and pressed his fingers together as a gesture to illustrate those last two words.
seungkwan let out a soft chuckle at the boy's actions when expressing himself, and the taller one did the same. their gazes connected and they smiled shyly, until minhyuk was tackled against the wall by eunseo who intended to give him a kiss. haru and giselle could only cover their embarrassed faces.
"by the way," karina reappeared where everyone was, this time wearing a bathrobe and brushing her teeth. "if you guys didn't come together," she pointed to both groups of people. "how do you guys know where i live?" she stopped wagging her finger in the direction of the golfers.
"i told them." admitted giselle.
"and how do you know where i live?" she looked at her confused.
"go take a bath!" her classmate exclaimed, pushing her back into the apartment.

We’ve all seen this cover and made jokes and homages to it, but I want to put in the context of its time.
Captain America first appeared in December 1940. A year before the Attack on Pearl Harbor and the US declaring war on Nazi Germany. Although there were many in the US urging the government to enter the war on the side of the Allies, there was also those who were sympathetic to the Axis who wanted the US to stay neutral or side with Nazi Germany. Father Charles Coughlin, an anti-communist Catholic priest, launched a radio program which praised Nazi Germany and its actions toward Jews, reaching an audience of millions of people every week. Famous individuals like Henry Ford and Charles Lindbergh made speeches on the Jewish problem at home and abroad. The German American Bund, which at its height had 25,000 members, praised Nazism and promoted American solidarity with Germany.
It is in this context that two New York Jews, Jack Kirby and Joe Simon, decided to create Captain America. While the character was popular, his first issue sold nearly a million copies, pro-Nazi groups began to picket and threaten the creators. But Kirby and Simon had powerful allies.
Fiorello H. La Guardia was the half Jewish, half Italian child of immigrants who became mayor of New York City in 1934. He fought against corruption and the mob and worked to protect the rights and improve the representation of the city’s Jewish, Italian, German, and Eastern European communities. The first time President Franklin Delano Roosevelt met Winston Churchill in person, he wrote that Churchill “in many ways is an English Mayor La Guardia.” And as if he couldn’t be more awesome, he liked comics. Upon hearing of the hate mail Kirby and Simon were getting, he called up the two and told them we would authorize police protection of their office if they wanted: “You boys over there are doing a good job, The City of New York will see that no harm comes to you.”
Since then Captain America has continually been a symbol fighting against racism and discrimination in America. He fought with Falcon against racism towards African Americans in the 1960s, in the 1980s he defended gays, and in the 2000s he stood by Arab and Muslim Americans.
America has had a dark past and an uncertain present, but Captain America represents America’s possible future. He is a symbol of the fight against injustice, racism, and fascism; created and supported by those who see what this country could be.

Hostile Takeover (1988), starring David Warner, Kate Vernon, Michael Ironside, Jayne Eastwood, and Will Lyman (Youtube Link).
This is the first obscure David Warner movie I'm reviewing! Not the first one I've watched, but the one that made the biggest impression on me so far. I genuinely liked it and would recommend it (the only downside is that the only versions I can find online are VHS rips with not the highest video quality).
The premise: Eugene Brackin (David Warner), a disaffected, repressed office worker at a local power plant, takes three of his coworkers—Larry Gaylord (Michael Ironside), Sally Laird (Kate Vernon), and Joan Talmudge (Jayne Eastwood)—hostage, but makes no specific demands. Outside, local police chief Smolen (Will Lyman) tries to diffuse the situation without resorting to violence.
The sets are limited: most of the action takes place either in the office or just outside of it (it would probably make for a good stage adaption). Hostile Takeover is a character driven story about what it takes for someone to crack and what happens when they do. It engages with ideas about modernity, alienation, and longing; interwoven throughout are references to the T.S. Eliot poems "The Hollow Men" and "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" (and maybe others that I didn't pick up on). Whatever you make of it, this movie was trying to say something about modern life.
(More under the cut because this gets long. Spoilers below.)
Reviews
Reviews for Hostile Takeover are mixed, but I'm going to defend it a bit. Is it a perfect movie? No. But I think the experience suffers if you come into it with the idea that this is a true horror film, when really it's a psychological thriller. There are two brief scenes where there's a lot of dramatic blood, but those make up maybe half a minute of the total 90. There are tense, suspenseful moments, but I'm quite a coward when it comes to horror and this didn't bother me.
A lot of other online reviews call it a "Thanksgiving horror movie," and I'm not sure how this category got attached to it. It came out in December 1988, so it can't be based on release date, and Thanksgiving is never mentioned, we only see that it's autumn. Maybe it's because the movie was released in some countries under the title Office Party and the fact that it starts on a day when people would normally be out of office, like for a holiday (admittedly, I thought it was just a weekend).
Characters
All the central characters in this are interesting in their own ways and get their own moments of backstory, but the ones I want to talk about most are Eugene, Sally, and Smolen.
Eugene - a man who is frustrated enough to take his coworkers hostage but also polite enough to demand that the police bring dinner for them and repeatedly says he doesn't want to actually hurt anyone. David excels at playing characters that are a bit angsty and not quite satisfied with themselves, and Eugene fits that mold.
We're never explicitly told why he did what he did, but it's not that hard to infer. Eugene is a shy middle-aged man who lives alone in a tiny apartment, has nothing better to do than come in to his meager-paying job on an off day, and is maybe a little infatuated with his younger female coworker but is too restrained (and too self-conscious?) to pursue her even when she shows interest. He seemingly followed the "right" path for the 20th-century man and yet still feels his life is hollow. He insists that he's not a crazy, "psycho-type," he only wants to be perceived that way so he'll be sent to a hospital in the end, presumably because he wants to escape it all.
I wouldn't pick up a gun about it, but I can understand his despair. The loneliness and alienation he feels (and, on the other hand, the obsession some of his other coworkers have with money and power) are predictable side effects of the capitalist hellscape we live in.
...Moving away from that, let's talk about how hot David is in this. Some of that may be down to my personal preferences: I'm a sucker for stressed-out businessmen and the role that made me notice him for the first time was Sark/Ed Dillinger in TRON. But here...the suspenders with the gun holster. Him walking around with his tie loose. Being 1988, he'd started going grey and late 80s-early 90s David is peak dilf for me, the silver streaks in his bangs and at the temples make me feral. It's no wonder the next character, Sally, wanted him.
Sally - some Letterboxd reviews were very negative to Sally, saying that she's actually the most unsympathetic character and that she manipulates and seduces Eugene. I disagree, though I may be biased because if I were in her situation, I'd probably (want to) act the same. Textually, though, I think there is some support for my interpretation.
In her introductory scene, we see her walk into the office and immediately flirt with him. It didn't seem like she was doing it to mock him—she's also the only one (I think?) to call him "Gene" instead of his full name, which implies some fondness. We later learn that Sally is attracted to power, and she comments about how powerful Eugene is in his newfound position as hostage-taker, but let's remember that she was interested in him from her first scene, before there was any hint of anything being different that day. We also see that she previously attempted to "sleep her way to the top," but that it didn't work for her and she's bitter about the whole thing.
People also seem to think her affection towards him was just in service of self-preservation, but by the end she doesn't even seem to care about that anymore. She says to him, "you can still get away if you use me as a shield...you're loving and honest and kind, you don't have to die for this, Gene!". You could argue it's some kind of Stockholm Syndrome situation, but imo she seems to be basing this on experience beyond just the last two days spent in the office.
Also, like, is it really so hard to believe that she might genuinely be into him? Some people are just into dilfs and that's okay! It's normal! Us dilf-fuckers deserve the representation and Sally is great! She hates her asshole boss and wants the old man dick, she's just like me fr.
Unfortunately (spoilers), she doesn't get her tropical beach vacation ending with Gene and instead has to watch him die. And she'll have to live with that memory. It's all the more tragic because there are hints that their relationship could have worked if they had been able to open up to each other under different circumstances. As Smolen says, "what a fuckin' waste."
Smolen - there's more to this guy than initially meets the eye. He looks like the total opposite of Eugene, a stereotypical jock, but as the story progresses, parallels are drawn between the two. Someone even accuses him of holding the rest of the police force hostage because he won't let them go in guns blazing. He also takes the time to try to understand Eugene; he's the one who figures out the poetry connection. Eventually (spoilers), he ends up being the one to kill him and, though this is probably an artifact of the bad VHS quality, it looked like there was a trickle of blood running down his own forehead. In the end, both of them were forced into violence they didn't want.
Connections
Random connections I made while watching the movie, kind of like a trivia/fun facts section I guess?
Eugene reminded me a lot of D.B. Cooper. All these years later, we still don't know who he really was or why he hijacked that 727 on Nov. 24, 1971 (now that'd be a Thanksgiving movie!). What we do know was that he was middle-aged, polite to the crew, and had an unspecified "grudge."
One of the T.S. Eliot poems the movie references is "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock," a stanza of which goes like this:
No! I am not Prince Hamlet, nor was meant to be; Am an attendant lord, one that will do To swell a progress, start a scene or two, Advise the prince; no doubt, an easy tool, Deferential, glad to be of use, Politic, cautious, and meticulous; Full of high sentence, but a bit obtuse; At times, indeed, almost ridiculous— Almost, at times, the Fool.
This part is not quoted in the movie, but it hit me kind of hard considering this context: David played Hamlet on stage in 1965, but it'd been almost 25 years since then when Hostile Takeover was made, and he was in the middle of being in a bunch of random B-movies. It also makes me think of when he was asked, around the time TRON came out, about playing so many villain roles and what he'd like to be in next, and he said something like "I'd like a romantic comedy." And then he...didn't get that? Ever? At least not as a lead. I...yeah. He does at least get the girl in this one! Briefly!
Conclusion
Should you watch this movie if you're a David Warner liker? Definitely. Should you watch this movie otherwise? At least give it a try. I didn't know where else to mention it but the soundtrack also stood out to me, it's very 80s but still good. The way they incorporated the popping and clanging sounds the heaters inside the building make into the music...banger.
I'll be posting some gifs from the movie soon. If you do watch this, or have watched it, please let me know what you thought....am I getting it all wrong? Are you team Sally?
Youtube Link Here. This is to a different or upscaled version than the one I watched. I only found it after I took all the screenshots and did all the gifs. My loss is your gain...?

"No Food has entered"
Oh my, why would food do such a thing? How could food do it anyhow? Strange.
It would seem kind of important, unless this is pure propaganda, to add that our country's current admin. and Israel are the ones blocking food and aid. to purposely starve 400,000 + people. And to mention also that Biden/Harris/Blinken personally signed off on attacking aid trucks and ambulances.
Aid trucks and ambulances.
It's absurdist, agonizing really, reading western headlines as they constantly try to twist reality daily. When you watch the events yourself or see them live streamed online, only to see headlines moments later which purposely misinform, it becomes even more clear how much the western media keeps people in a manipulated bubble. Which was clear anyhow but it sure does become more apparent when you really see it in action working overtime.
I'm sad and somewhat surprised to watch the 'left', Dems mostly, of the USA be so quiet. People who seemed good at picking apart those police shooting articles saying, 'a police officer was holding a gun today when 3 of the bullets inside it killed a teen'. You know, where it's obvious they write anything to distort responsibility or even blame the victim? Now headline after headline is the same about our actions in the world and there is so much---silence!? Is the manipulation just working really well, or people are ignoring it for the election? Why does the Democrat's morality always seems to stop at the border? I certainly can't expect much humanity from Republicans.
I was always deeply hurt learning about the holocaust. I was a rather weird kid who studied all of those things very early on, including Cambodia, Pol Pot, Vietnam, more recent world history in general than my classes ever approached. Call me crazy but, I thought the lesson was that we could never let that happen again to anyone. To PEOPLE. To ANYONE.
Now it feels like we could be shoving people into gas chambers, we're already starving them and burning them alive, and it's like hey, isn't this great we just can't let this happen to Jewish people again? I'm like what the living fuck, this isn't what I signed up for. No one should be treated this way, nobody.
How can people here defend women's rights -- then be quiet about your nation helping to starve half a million women and children to death? No conflict there?
Is this what Trump did to us, is this our national soul now even for those who oppose him? Saying nothing while burning people alive in hospital beds!?
Trump is obviously a walking piece of living excrement and certainly isn't better in any regard, but anyone able to stay silent or not criticize your own nation and party as 100 thousand people are murdered in your name, as entire populations are being purposely starved, if it's just because they think it might spoil the election and it's 'not the time', how are they possibly a better human than he is?
Harris has now fully committed herself to this horror sadly, she said there was not single mistake made, and that she would have done NOTHING differently this year. Nothing. She added she will put NO RESTRICTIONS on Israel. Affirming she far right of Richard Nixon of all people, who you can see on historic videos warning people why we should never ever write Israel a blank check or they will bomb everyone in the region. It's truly weird to listen to Dick fucking Nixon explain why you need peace and love in the world more than the current Democrat running in 2024, things are probably a bit out of hand.
So what would be much for Americans? Democrats for that matter, it's not like I can expect Republicans to grow a heart if they ever had any, but everyone else? Because it's feeling like there is no limit. Officially it's over 41,000 but we know the number is more likely over 100k.
There are now over one million people displaced in a week. Is that not too much??
Then there is Aaron Bushnell, a 25 yo US serviceman who set himself aflame this year, burned himself alive saying it doesn't even compare to what Palestinians are going through, and notice how few Americans seem to give a shit or notice? Democrats seemed awfully offended by Trumps treatment of the military and yet our own soldiers set themselves on FIRE? Killing themselves in protest and, nothing?
400,000 in Gaza with no food since October 1. Are we going to just sit and wait for them to starve? This isn't a natural disaster. Civilians, women, children killed in mass numbers and this is still the good side of the country? How can anyone discuss something as important as abortion and women's rights while starving and bombing women and children in great numbers and not find that a bit...conflicting?
It was so soulless to see this morning, after watching the IDF burn people alive as it happened this week -- that Sky News had the gal to use those VERY images, those of burning people alive in hospital beds, with a story instead about Iran's missile attack, that killed no one, from a week earlier. Knowing people will likely conclude the terrible things they are seeing were not done by the IDF and the West, but Iran. Over and over straight up propaganda.
History will remember this. And since those involved are having such a 'great' time live streaming their own atrocities on social media, it's making it the most documented genocide in history and will be watched in detail for generations to come. It's insane to watch people openly discuss they want genocide and be very honest about it, to live stream theirselves killing people and to see them play in children's clothes after murdering them and just look at how passive Americans are. As the news is full of strange headlines like the one above..where FOOD magically keeps itself out of places with no reason or logic, starvation, bombings, displaced people, by....this mysterious nobody! Manipulation... the loss of active verbs will astound you.
I mean, I really do not have love for Nazis and bigots, I dislike seeing any sort of hate and fascism in fury. So, how could I not find it equally unnerving to see a huge group of American Israeli supporters this week carrying flags with stars of David, singing the melody of Hey Jude to 'No more Gaza', and laughing and chanting for the death of 2 million human beings? How is this morally different? Are people really so absurd that if the very same forms of hatred return but it's a diff symbol or reversed it's just unnoticed? Defended even? Are people really just led by some weird guilt so the holocaust was a get-one-free holocaust card for one specific group of people, instead of lesson to defend human life and dignity for everyone???
It makes me wonder, what was our entire culture about? Movies, art, lessons, all the supposed morals and novels from war and fiction and our own history? What was all these decades of artists, shows, film makers, going on and on about humanist topics worth? Streaming years worth of documentaries online about humanity, history, society - only to sit as it happens all over again? How can American liberals watch Republicans lie and say crazy things like immigrants will eat your pets, and laugh at it, and say damn we're not that stupid - but then Israel tells the world Palestinians and Syrians and Lebanese and pretty much every Arab in the world sleeps with a missile under their bed and you're like shit well here's billions of dollars and weapons go end them all? How can you not recognize the same techniques or just really so equally racist? What was the point of culture and movies or documentaries, even Star Wars -- any of these moralistic stories, if you all just sit here and let it happen again without saying a word? Does it have to come dressed in the same attire for you to recognize it?
I don't use FB a ton lately but I will post this here. I don't even try to share overly or get too personal online but with this, I feel it's not good for my soul to not say something more. Fuck Trump forever and I hope he loses or better yet dissolves into a pile of goo, but how can anyone else actually sit at ease or stay silent when this this current admin is fully supporting this and signing off to attack aid workers? If fascism is bad...isn't fkn' genocide?? Are you really ok if its not inside America?? Really? Even good ole American dad Tim Walz says he supports this mass death, so there's your cuddly football coach for you.
I cannot in good faith back my government's actions or those supporting this. This is beyond atrocious and I only can wish people can find their true hearts.
I get that human beings just aren't there yet, we are pretty much just mostly hairless apes fresh off the plains. I try not to be very misanthropic because I don't expect too much from people in the first place. I think there is an endless amount of love and beauty in people.
Still I'm disheartened by my own people on the 'good' side mostly. And with, ignorant celebs like Bill Maher are obviously assholes, most know that I guess, but still. Watching him and other libs saying gay people would be thrown off of a roof by Palestinians, just weeks after I literally watched Israelis blindfold Palestinians and throw them off of a building to their deaths, one after the other, feels like the most demonic gaslighting. Is there some throwing people off of buildings morality system I'm unaware of, or is that generally like, a terrible thing to do? And if being homophobic is a reason for genocide, then what of many of my Texan neighbors, Trump supporters, and the entire USA or half the planet? And I know this is crazy but, I wouldn't want to burn them alive or use white phosphorous on them or starve entire Republican cities to death either. Go figure?
I have friends in Israel and all over that I care for much, I want peace and safety for as many in this world as can be. But there is no way I can defend this, or any apartheid system for that matter.
There is nothing anyone can do that justifies this being done to anyone. Not terrorism, nothing. If you think 'terrorism' justifies collective death punishment and starvation maybe it's time to reconsider if you have a soul.
At very least perhaps we can like, not starve half a million people this month and fight for their dignity. Even just more people saying anything at all.
DIGNITY, something all humans deserve.
Wishing everyone truly a beautiful week and life, and hoping for much better for everyone.

Boxcars' designated cheerleader is @howieduet! Oh, Boxcars. I feel for the man. He has every right to be the angriest man in the Mojave. He's earned those five doses of Med-X.
Right: Lt. Carrie Boyd, NCR military police officer at Camp McCarran. —"Not big on reading nametags, huh? That's okay, my name is long and difficult to pronounce. Ready for it? It's Boyd."
Lt. Carrie Boyd's designated cheerleader is @murderboner420! Hey hi howdy New Vegas I'm here to defend Lt Carrie Boyd, Legion-smasher and chain-smoker! As someone who fully believes the NCR is way too soft on the Legion, Boyd's stepping up to the plate by violating the Geneva convention and using methods of unreliable torture from a third party to extract information from Caesar's greatest is not only effective, nay, it is one of the few bastions of appropriate response to Legion actions in the Mojave we've seen yet. Sure, Boyd is basically a loose cannon, but that loose cannon is pointed squarely at the fash! *slams Camp McCarran desk like J Jonah Jameson* In desperate times, we need every ounce of help we can get! Also, you should be allowed to punch Legion in the face at any time for any reason.

levi is like pain is the best discipline
yet when in marley people wanted to hurt a kid because he stole from them levi jumped right in and didnt let them
i think he is mostly just talking abt this
yeah he sometimes used violence but he never enjoyed it and i think he was using it less as time went on
Well, yeah, exactly, because the thing is, Levi ISN'T a child abuser.
I've had people try to tell me that he is because of the handful of times he hits Eren, and the one time he hits Jean, completely ignoring the context of those moments, and also the fact that, by the standards of the time they were living in, Eren and Jean weren't considered children, and were also well-trained soldiers in a military unit. One which was directly under Levi's command. Physical discipline of soldiers is hardly unusual or unheard of.
The worst "beating" Levi ever gave Eren was during Eren's trial, and it was completely for show in order to save Eren from falling into the hands of the Military Police and being executed.
The second time he hit him, and Jean, it was because the two of them were acting like undisciplined fools the night before a pivotal mission to re-secure Shinganshina, a mission which they believed, at the time, the fate of humanity hinged on, and in which hundreds of new, inexperienced recruits would be joining them. Eren's and Jean's ridiculous fighting very much could have disrupted the discipline and cohesion necessary to their missions success, and put lives at risk. That kind of shit would never be tolerated in any military unit, anywhere in the world. Levi was also not in his regular state of mind, stressed out and feeling lost and confused after Erwin's confession to him about caring more about the basement than humanity, and refusing to back down from joining the expedition.
The third time Levi hits Eren, it's because Eren is directly threatening Levi, putting his hands on him, and trying to prevent him from carrying out his own duty as a soldier.
And the last time Levi hits Eren, is after the raid on Liberio, in which Eren has just murdered dozens upon dozens of innocent people and dragged Paradis and the Survey Corps into a war none of them agreed to or signed up for.
Every one of these instances isn't a case of child abuse. It's a superior officer disciplining a soldier who's directly under his command and who expects a certain amount of discipline and adherence from his soldiers, for the sake of the entire unit and its safety.
It's also important to note that Levi doesn't actually USE physical violence against his soldiers as a regular means of discipline. In other words, he doesn't make a habit of it. He only ever hits someone when the circumstances are extreme in some way, or call for some sort of extremity. So we know Levi doesn't really view giving someone a beating as an appropriate or normal form of disciplinary action. He only hits people when they've done something or acted in a way which endangers the mission, or other people.
Ramzi was just a little boy. Maybe ten years old, from the looks of him, if even. He didn't have any special military training, he wasn't a soldier, he didn't know how to fight or defend himself. Levi would never hit a little kid like that, I guarantee it. Because, again, he isn't a child abuser.
He never went around just beating kids up as a means of disciplining them, he never engaged in that or employed it as a regular means of teaching anyone anything. All the times Levi actually hits someone, it's more like a knee-jerk reaction than a deliberate form of disciplinary action. It isn't thought out or planned, it isn't a tactic employed with forethought or with some further goal beyond the immediate need to rein whoever's acting up in. He never hits anyone as a way of instilling any sort of lesson in them. It's just an immediate response to an out of hand situation. And, again, they're not just children, they're soldiers under his command, with heavy and serious responsibilities expected of them, and each of those only handful of times, the circumstances surrounding Levi's violence were extreme.
So, yeah, this isn't a case of Levi being abused and then becoming an abuser. There's a world of difference between him and Kenny and the way they operate.

Trump calls Jan. 6 defendants ‘warriors’ | The Hill
Former President Trump defended his supporters who rioted at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, and called them “warriors” at a Nevada rally on Sunday.
“Those J6 warriors – they were warriors – but they were really, more than anything else, they’re victims of what happened,” Trump said at the rally, speaking to a crowd of supporters.
“All they were doing is protesting a rigged election. That’s what they were doing,” Trump continued, repeating his false claims that the 2024 presidential election was rigged against him.
Trump also falsely claimed police welcomed rioters into the Capitol and, Trump said, told the rioters, “Go in, go in, go in, go in.”
“What a set up that was,” Trump added. “What a horrible, horrible thing, and you know, that blows two ways, that blows two ways, believe me.”
Trump and his supporters have at times sought to recharacterize the Jan. 6 riots as peaceful. In reality, however, about 140 officers were injured, and five died in the days after the attack. One Capitol Police officer likened the scene to a “war zone” and recounted, before a congressional committee, slipping in other people’s blood as she engaged in “hand-to-hand combat” for hours.
Trump, in the past, has used similar words to describe those jailed over their actions during the Jan. 6 attack. In November 2023, Trump referred to them as “hostages.”
He also said in March that, if reelected in November, one of his first tasks will be to “Free the January 6 Hostages being wrongfully imprisoned!”
As of Jan. 6, 2024, more than 1,200 defendants had been charged in connection to the attack on the Capitol. More than 450 have been charged with assaulting, resisting or impeding officers or employees, according to the Justice Department.
More than 700 individuals have pleaded guilty to various federal charges, the Justice Department said.

Trans people are oppressed yet riot when a woman tries to protect minors from irreversible treatments and surgeries. 🤦🏻♀️
Trans activists violently attempted to siege Mexico City’s Congress on Tuesday after an initiative was introduced to ban minors from accessing “gender affirming” surgery.
The initiative was first introduced by América Rangel, a representative from the conservative National Action Party (PAN), on February 9, and sought to both prohibit the interventions as well as punish medical providers who do not comply with the law.
Rangel is alleged to have been the target of the activist aggression, posting that she believed the activists were specifically attempting to get to her.
In disturbing footage circulated on Twitter from both inside and outside of the House of Congress, a hoard of screaming trans activists were seen smashing their way into the historic building by beating and breaking the glass window panels open. The building was further insulated by decorative cage-style doors which had been locked shut, but the activists managed to dislodge several of the bars and create a pathway for them to enter.
Victoria Sámano, a trans-identified male who had been directing the protest, was the first to jump through the entry, pushing his way through the security guards trying to defend the building and getting into a physical altercation with some of them. Other activists quickly followed Sámano’s lead, and began forcing their way through the passage they had created in the bars.
Once inside the building, more damage was done as the activists painted graffiti on the walls and destroyed windows. Activists got as close to their target as the doors of the Congressional hall, but were blocked by security personnel.
The protest was ultimately quelled by riot police, who responded to the scene and used fire extinguishing gas to disperse the activists.
Sámano took to Twitter and uploaded a video of himself complaining that the guards had fought back, and suggesting that the activists had simply been peacefully demonstrating for their rights when they were brutally attacked without reason.
“We were only demanding our rights and they started beating us, they hit me in the legs. Here are the marks of how they beat me for this city. [Representatives] are more important than trans people,” he says in the video.
According to some Mexican news outlets, the parliamentary coordinator for Morena, the left-wing governing party, has assured protestors that their deputies do not plan to file a criminal complaint for the damages caused to the building.
But, dissatisfied with the response from the Congress, América Rangel has filed her own report with the Prosecutor General’s Office of Mexico yesterday.
In a video uploaded to Twitter, Rangel said she had filed a criminal complaint against the demonstrators who sieged the Congress.
“I have just filed criminal complaints against the people who assaulted the Congress of Mexico City and tried to attack me,” Rangel said in her video. “Specifically, [I] have precisely identified three people, of whom we have already given all the evidence to the Prosecutor’s Office. We also request that the investigation be carried out to find the others. We hope that the authority does its job and does not cover up if there are people from Morena behind all this. There can be nothing and no one above the law.”
Trans activists in Mexico are known for being particularly aggressive and staging aggressive or hostile demonstrations against those they disagree with.
In July of 2022, a transgender politician violently disrupted a government conference aimed at tackling human trafficking after becoming offended at the implications abolitionist policies would have on trans “sex workers.”
Maria Clemente, a trans-identified male politician elected to Mexico’s Chamber of Deputies last year, called the suggestion that the sex trade be abolished for the protection of women and children “hate speech.” To a critic, Clemente said: “I am a woman, and I am a whore! It’s my job and and how my family eats! I love it!”
Clemente was later exposed for having allegedly lied about being in the sex trade after his ex-husband issued a scathing rebuttal of his public persona in a public letter he posted in an effort to demand Clemente finalize their divorce.
Months later, trans activists at the National Autonomous University of Mexico staged a “coup” of one of the women’s washrooms on the campus in apparent retaliation for a lesbian pride mural having been painted nearby.
The activists claimed the mural made them feel “unsafe” and demanded another gender neutral washroom be established near the Samuel Ramos Library. Less than 24 hours later, the activists took over the largest women’s restroom in the building, littering the walls with threatening vandalism directed at women who are critical of gender ideology.

A Florida man who died in a shootout with police over the weekend was out on bond after he allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl on her way to school last year, according to Orange County court records.
A SWAT team fatally shot Daton Viel, 28, on Friday after he shot and critically injured two Orlando police officers during a traffic stop around 11 p.m. Investigators believe Viel's vehicle may have been tied to a homicide in Miami.
Less than a year ago, on Dec. 1, 2022, Viel offered a ride to the 14-year-old girl walking to a local high school. She accepted, and when she got into his vehicle, he drove her to a park and allegedly raped her inside his vehicle before driving back to the school.
Once he dropped her off at the school, the victim told friends and school staff, who contacted law enforcement, Orange County records show.
SUSPECTED COP SHOOTER KILLED IN STANDOFF WITH SWAT TEAM NEAR UNIVERSAL ORLANDO: POLICE
Surveillance footage captured a red, four-door sedan entering the school's front office parking lot once at 10:14 a.m. and again at 10:46 a.m., when the victim can be seen exiting the vehicle.
Medical staff examined the victim and obtained a sexual assault kit. Detectives then conducted an analysis of male DNA found on the victim and linked it to Viel, who was charged with sexual battery of a person between the ages of 12 and 18, lewd or lascivious molestation and lewd or lascivious exhibition.

He was released on $125,000 bond in that case, as FOX 35 Orlando first reported.
"The only individual who can be blamed for incidents like these is the individual who took those actions," Monique Worrell, U.S. State's Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida, said during a Monday press conference. Worrell defended her office, repeating that bond is at the discretion of the court, not the U.S. Attorney's Office. "Whether or not someone gets released on bond is in the discretion of the court, and bond is a right. It is not something that the state gets to decide or not decide," Worrell said when asked whether the prosecutor's office could have argued for no bond. "We can certainly make arguments. Ultimately, it's the decision of the court, and in this case, the court decided that a $125,000 bond was appropriate."
At the time of his arrest in the rape case, Viel was on probation for burglary, trespassing on a construction site and criminal mischief charges stemming from a December 2019 incident. He had also violated probation for alleged crimes out of Georgia earlier this year.
TEMPLE POLICE SHOOTING SUSPECT SHOT OFFICER 3 MORE TIMES AS COP LAY ON GROUND WITH HEAD WOUND: OFFICIALS
Additionally, there was a warrant out for Viel's arrest in Orange County in July after he was caught driving a red Ford Fusion with a stolen license plate on June 30 near the University of Central Florida campus.
"The offender reported he'd come to the campus to see a girlfriend and he knew he shouldn't be driving because his license was suspended, and he did not have any insurance on the car," an amended complaint stated. "While Officer Smith was removing the stolen license plate from the vehicle, UCF Dispatch relayed the offender had an active warrant from Orange County for Trespassing."
When officers told Viel to put his hands behind his back, he fled the scene. Police yelled commands at the suspect to stop, but he ignored them and got away.
"There were three warrants, and we just could not get to him," Worrell said Monday. "…Until Saturday morning, he was never taken into custody."
On Friday, after Viel shot at two Orlando officers, he initially fled the scene and then carjacked another vehicle in an effort to get away, and a vehicle pursuit ensued, according to a statement released from the Orlando Police Department.
Viel barricaded himself inside a room at a Holiday Inn and refused to surrender despite multiple attempts by police to persuade him to give up. At 8:58 a.m., the suspect opened fire on SWAT officers "multiple times," according to Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith. Police returned fire and hit the suspect, killing him.
