Sarah had been in and out of deep sleeps ever since she had initially awoken from her surgery. She was beginning to experience some cabin fever from not being able to leave her bed, and she had told Gale to go get some food from the cafeteria so he could stretch his legs, even if he was adamant that he was fine. When a figure emerged at the door, a weak smile spread across Sarah’s face as she saw it was Alec, a friend she had made in the town.

“Hey, stranger,” she said, her voice still somewhat hoarse. “Come on in. Is the weather still shit out there?” She forced herself to sit up on the bed to accommodate her new guest, letting out a small wince from the pain but trying her best to mask it.
