The costumes, candies, the scares was all he really knew of the holiday. Most of which he learned from his stay at the castle, before that he had been rather ignorant. “Whatever the castle gives me.” He shrugged, probably something equally embarrassing and very revealing as that seemed to be the thing they tended to do. “Maybe they’ll actually give out candy for us to enjoy, I have doubts but maybe there’s a chance.”

How did sissy and Trevor find out about the twins?? And how did they tell their families?

sissy has had a pregnancy scare before a few years back, but this time around she actively was feeling symptoms. so when she was almost a week late, she decided to take a test

she took so many because she could not believe it, and after each one she got happier and happier!

she knew she wanted to tell her and Trevor's families in a really special way, so she couldn't do it over the phone. she also wanted to put something cute together to tell Trevkr, and he was at a rink anyways, but she was BURSTING to tell somebody

so what does she do? she called Taryn Tkachuk, one of her only girl friends, her maid of honor (yes, Cole is her man of honor, but Taryn will be the maid) and somewhat like a little sister to her.

Taryn SCREAMED when she answered the facetime and saw (one of) a positive pregnancy tests on the bathroom counter! and just like Sissy, she got more and more excited when sissy told her that she had four more positive ones. they immediately started planning how to tell Trevor and their families. Sissy had to quickly tell Trevor hello (and had him wave to Taryn) and that she loves him when he came home before running off to their bedroom and locking the door for "girl time."

Sissy and Taryn spent almost an hour on pinterest and tik tok and articles for ideas of how to tell your husband (fiancé in Sissy's case) that you're pregnant, but she didn't want to do anything too basic. Taryn eventually found a picture of something not too basic with the perfect touch of Sissy's humor:

Sissy told Trevor that she was going to pick up some snacks for the house and left at the same time that he was heading to the gym. she did do that, but she also picked up a mini chalkboard and some chalk since they already had a baby yoda.

she was sitting on top of their kitchen island right next to her set up when he came home. Trevor noticed it immediately and picked her up off the counter, spinning her around in a hug. she didn't even notice that Jamie (who happened to be in california with them at the time before he went back to toronto) was behind him, but she was really glad that he was because he was smart enough to remember how much she loves pictures of everything and he was able to take some pictures of them.

"we're gonna be parents," Trevor said with the biggest smile, cupping her face with both hands and smashing his lips onto hers.

"we're gonna be parents!" she echoed.

as for their families and friends, they had lucked out that training camps (for those signed) hadn't started yet, so she was able to get all of her friends and family in one place at the same time. they would fly to Trevor's home town to see his family next.

they're big on game nights, and Sissy had convinced all of them to play pictionary. she waited a couple rounds before she decided to tell them. her plan involved pieces being put together, but she knew that at least her mom, Ellen, would be able to put it together for the rest of them.

"it's a friends episode title!" she announced to the room.

the minute timer had started and Sissy began to draw terrible sketches of Rachel in a hospital bed, Ross in a different hospital bed with his legs in the stirrups, and then all six of the friends gathered around Rachel and her baby.

Sissy kept writing even after Alex had yelled "THE ONE WHERE RACHEL HAS A BABY" for the fourth time. over Rachel she wrote an 's,' over Ross she wrote a 't,' she wrote a q, j, l and a c over the remaining friends, and added in an extra stick figure to write an 'a' on top of them.

she turned when she finished, facing the group with her hands linked in front of her as if she was a school girl waiting for her good job prize.

it was Luke that connected the dots the quickest. everyone else quickly followed after he breathed out a surprised "holy shit!"

Luke got off the couch and ran to her, hugging her tightly before stepping back as his hands trailed down his sister's arms and took her hands in his, "I'm gonna be an uncle?"

"Yeah, Lukey Moosey, you are," she said.

Ellen started crying, and even Jim looked like he was tearing up.

"you're— you— and him—" Jack couldn't get out a full sentence he was so excited and shocked. All she could do is nod at him with the biggest smile on her face.

Jack and Quinn ran over to Sissy and got on either side of her, both hugging her as tight as Luke did, and brought Luke back into the hug.

"Dibs on being their godfather!" Cole exclaimed as he took his window to hug Sissy.

"You can't do that!" Alex shouted. "Z and Girly Hughes decide who's the baby's godfather! And I've known Z the longest!"

"Don't pull that card, man!" Trevor laughed. "There's a lot of people that we have to consider!"

Sissy stepped away from her brothers, her friends, and Trevor to go over to her real parents. The ones that took her in. The ones that taught her everything.

"I don't know anything about babies," she half heartedly laughed to cover up the slight fear that was creeping into her excitement as she hugged them.

"We know enough," Ellen assured her. "And I know you, and I know that you're going to be an amazing mom."

"I learned from the best."

unlike his parents, dexter is not at all devout, and he used to be quite edgy about it. he's simmered down a lot, and accepts that it's just a part of their respective upbringing.s he even *gasps* goes with them to church sometimes on holidays.

i fear he is a true blue hipster. he listens to really Cool music that you just wouldn't get, knows the best gentrified coffee spots in anchorpoint wharf, and goes to sooooo many cool festivals like the annual SEWERFEST, which is for goblincore chamber pop artists. never heard of it? yeah, he figures.

he loves a good power walk on a sunday morning. he's not afraid to talk about the power walkers of san sequoia group he's in that's mainly made up of senior ladies.

his favourite holiday, even though he isn't american, is juneteenth (they celebrate bc taryn is american). it's the perfect summer holiday for him. he loves the food and seeing all the neighbours turn up.

he really loves rats but is so sad about their short, short lives. he doesn't think getting a longer-lived pet like a cat would be much better tbh.

I think the big problem witht the fan service in TPT was that it was to throw in your face.Fan service is good when you fell natural but simultaneously you could tell that is fan service.I rolled my eyes at taryn divine punishment it felt like she gave the fans what they wanted since qon(the whole taryn didnt got a punishment was always funny to me they were acting like having locke as a husband wasnt one)

I understand why HB tried to please as much people she could with it since from what i saw even people who enjoyed her other faerie books weren't big fans of TSH.I agree with J and C don't make good mcs anymore thei arcs endet and most of their problems were solved in a good note.

TPT tried to be a lot of things at once:

1.Fan service

2.the conclusion of the story

3.a bridge for her undersea book

4.Romantasy( marketed like this)

And fails at being a good structured story.(for a book marketed like a romantasy the romance was so little and rushed at the end)

From what i saw a lot of people started hating wren after TPT wich i understand in a measure since she was so little and most of her scene were not in a favorable light.(shes still my fav Tsh character and i love her but her arc was practically non-existent)

I enjoyed oak a lot maybe bc im a sucker for his type of character but i think it could have been done more with his character.

I don't know how a undersea book in jurdan pov will be but i dont think it would be a good one since what they will narate especially in the undersea!

Yeah, you laid it out very well. I am NOT above fanservice. I friggin love the stuff. Case in point: the way I was SO INSANELY HYPED for TPT because they promoted it with Madoc household content which are words to my heart. But the issue is when the fanservice overshadows everything else. Case in point: Wren becoming a side character in her own duology so that Oak's main storyline can happen with Jude. I legit can't blame anyone who hates her after TPT because oh my god her writing was SO BAD in that second book. You can't just have your character do the vilest cruelest thing in the world to her love interest and then remove her from page and later say that she was just manipulated and blackmailed into being mean and is ready for love now. Imagine if the everapple scene happened and then Balekin convinced Cardan to give him an oath of allegiance that kept Cardan on Madoc's side for the rest of the plot except for romance scenes and then in the end he and Jude still got together. BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED TO WREN. Well not exactly because she had a POV book first BUT YOU GET WHAT I MEAN.

Even the Oak-Jude storyline was not all it could have been. HB tried to give them a similar dynamic that Madoc and Jude had, where Oak isn't sure if Jude truly loves him and if she would sacrifice him if she suspected he worked against her. But there is no real tension because we KNOW Jude would never do that because like. That's the entire point of TFotA. I think that Oak slowly growing to resent his family was a fantastic concept, but the book barely gave it any screentime before it was solved. It's like HB didn't want to do anything too uncomfortable because this time around she would have to make Jude and Cardan his problematic parental figures, and that goes against every single rule of fanservice. So we get the worst of both worlds: Oak is a messed up kid doing very self destructive things that Jude is responsible for, but we can't explore them or treat them as very bad because that would make Jude look bad, and who wants to read a book about their fave girlboss accidentally ruining her baby brother's life? (Me I do oh my god I was looking forward to it so much I am still heartbroken)

There's still hope that the Undersea book won't be Jurdan POV, and I am manifesting it so much, because you're so right I have 0 confidence that I would like it.

delilah's world! au - idea

let me know what you guys think of this!

in freshman year of high school (grade nine), delilah's pretty popular. it's not like she cares, but people want to be her friends bcz a) she's considered one of the top goaltending prospects in the country/world b) her dad and uncle and grandfather all played hockey and c) she talks with nhlers like they're her best friends. she's like a 'celebrity' in their eyes. lilah doesn't care about the attention, and slowly ppl stop flocking to her once they realize she has two friends and doesn't want to be friends with anyone who only talks to her because she's famous.

fast forward to junior year (grade eleven), she's paired up to do a project in english on the shakespearean play 'macbeth'. she's working with noah, a hockey player. he plays for the school team, and for some local team - but he's not really good enough to be drafted. he's an under the radar kind of guy. maybe he'll be one of the last picks/he'll sign a pto contract after going undrafted. but anyways, he's cute and he's very nice to lilah. eventually, he asks her out, she says yes, and they're a super cute couple. matt doesn't like him because he doesn't like anyone dating lilah, but he can't deny that noah's good to her. he wears her jersey on her gameday, he'll support her whenever she has a good or bad game, he's really respectful and polite whenever he meets her family/friends, he's just really good.

they're together through the end of high school, and they both go to northeastern for their first year of uni. they're both 17 at the time, so neither are eligible for the nhl/pwhl draft. they both play for the mens/womens hockey team. it's a stellar year for lilah, she's setting records left and right, playing for the us team also - like she's going off. he has a pretty good year in hockey too, but nothing compared to her/his own teammates. noah still shows up to almost all of her games as her biggest fan, he doesn't stop supporting her. she supports him too, and he surprisingly gets drafted by florida in the last round. he could make it to the nhl, but he's got work to do before that.

on the day of the pwhl draft about a week later (delilah declared), they're back home and he can't make it because he has work. he tried to get off, but it wasn't working out and delilah's okay with that because he's been there for basically everything. she gets drafted first overall because she's the best prospect in her year, and she has a little party with her family. after the party, she heads over to noah's house bcz they decided to meet up after he gets off of work. when she gets to his place, she basically walks in on him with another girl and that's when she learns that the only reason he was with her was to get noticed for hockey. he was sweet and nice and supportive so that he could get more exposure, and sure enough, one nhl team decided "why tf not? he's got contacts" lilah walks out and heads home and locks herself in her room.

matthew was sleeping so he had no idea, and the next morning, he's unsure if he should wake her or not. he wakes her up around 2pm, but she was never sleeping, she was just in her room and depressed. he tries to figure out what's wrong, and then lilah goes "i broke up with noah." and matthew's genuinely shocked bcz noah and lilah looked happy together, but lilah doesn't tell him much more. he tries to get brady on it, but lilah knows brady will immediately tell her dad, so she doesn't tell him either. she tells taryn, who keeps the secret from matthew and brady, but taryn tells mama/peach (peanut's world). anyways, they just don't bring up noah ever because lilah gets all closed off when someone brings him up.

fast forward nearly a month later, lilah goes grocery shopping for her and her dad, and she ends up bumping into mateo - a childhood friend of noah's, but him and noah had a falling out in junior year and they're not friends anymore (teo had a feeling that noah wanted to use lilah for his own career, but noah denied it and they stopped talking. he would have brought up his concerns to lilah, but he had no proof. and noah was nice to her, so maybe he was just making up things. (teo also had a crush on lilah since freshman year and noah knew)). anyways, her and mateo talk a bit, more than they ever talked while she was dating noah. he asks about noah (even though they're not friends, he feels bad for doubting him), but lilah shrugs and goes "you should probably ask his new girl. actually, i don't even know if they're dating, or if she's just a hook up." and she's starting to feel sick because he might've thrown away a nearly three year relationship for a hook up, or maybe he never loved her at all. and mateo freezes bcz he was right, he freaking knew it, noah just had everyone fooled. and he sees that lilah's upset (she's never angry, this is the first time she looks angry), and he like offhandedly mentions getting revenge. lilah's like "i'm listening..." teo tells her to meet him at a coffee shop and they'll talk more, but he has to head out now. afterwards, they decide to fake date and get noah jealous and that's going to be some beautiful revenge. lilah doesn't even want noah back, she just wants to hurt him for what he did, and even if he never cared about her, he cared about teo at one point.

and anyways, her and mateo end up falling in love instead.

note: i'm thinking of maybe making mateo a singer or a(n american) football player (like he's actually good compared to noah playing hockey)... (or maybe another sport idk...) let me know what y'all think!!
