So I've been playing a lot of No Man's Sky and I just discovered my new favorite creature. It's like fairy ogre. They hover around just over the ground with those tiny fast-beating wings. They predict the future. THEY DON'T HAVE BONES???
Tumblr media
I named it a Flutterhulk.

Baby please, I am begging you to get out of the tags!! You can't keep those headcanons there! Because when I read that Butters is the museum owner in your Au I squealed so loudly!! He would be so cute! Getting all stary eyed everytime you bring something in??? AHHHH! 💖💖💖💖
Yes!! He starts off just so sad that the museum doesn't have anything. Constantly cleaning the display cases even though there's nothing in there.
But the farmer (you), come around with the little trinkets you find at the mines. Digging things up or finding them while fishing. And like you said he just gets these stars in his eye. (Yeah he still lost the other one)
Goes on for hours if you'll let him! Speculating the history behind the dwarven artifacts. He polishes those gems with such care! Butters is the happiest he's ever been since leaving the big city.
I think Kenny and him decided to just runaway one day. They grabbed Karen and moved out to the valley!
(That way if you ship Bunny it works, and if you don't it's just two besties supporting each other.)
As you start bringing in more things he starts looking over at the front door more. He perks up expecting you to come in covered in dirt, but he thinks it gives you a certain charm. He can smell the earth on you and immediately associates you with a flower of some kind. He'll change the flower pinned to his shirt to whatever that flower is. Got red hair? He's got tulips. The prettiest blue eyes ever?! Hydrangeas put carefully next to his heart. Oh you think your brown eyes are boring? How dare you, they're patches of soil that help support life!
Dude practically has hearts fluttering around his head when he sees you. Lips quivered into a smile, trying not to giggle just because he's nervous.
I swear his one heart event would be him crafting you something. He works with Scott to build a display case for it and sends it to you. It's not so big that it won't fit in the mailbox, maybe like a little box. It'll be something that doesn't belong in a museum but maybe one day it'll be in the house you share.
I'm working on Stan's sheet right while I'm at work! I'm writing up heart events like he's gonna be in the game ☠️

In a cozy neighborhood nestled between rolling hills and lush meadows, there lived a friendly, golden retriever. He had a heart full of love and an insatiable desire to connect with the world. His wagging tail and bright eyes spoke volumes, but there was one thing he yearned for – the ability to send letters to his canine friends in far-off places.
One sunny afternoon, the dog gazed longingly at the mailman delivering letters to his human family. The idea struck him like a lightning bolt: he wanted to send letters too! However, his lack of opposable thumbs made this dream seemingly impossible.
Undeterred, his determination caught the attention of a clever ferret who lived nearby. The ferret was known for his knack for solving problems, and he couldn't resist the opportunity to help his canine friend.
Approaching the dog with a twinkle in his eye, the ferret proposed a solution. "Dog," he said, "what if I became your paw-sistant? I can help you write letters and even deliver them to your friends!"
The dog's tail wagged furiously with excitement. And so, the dynamic duo embarked on their letter-sending adventure. The dog would dictate his heartfelt messages to the ferret, who translated them into beautifully written letters. Together, they crafted tales of squirrel chases, park adventures, and the joy of belly rubs.
The ferret, being nimble and quick, scurried through the neighborhood, delivering the dog's letters to the mailboxes of his furry friends. The recipients, surprised and delighted, responded in kind, creating a heartwarming exchange of stories and friendship.
One day, the dog decided to send a letter to a faraway place but the ferret could not travel that long so they had the mail courier deliver it for them so the courier went, into a journey that we will witness... in another story.
Inside his bag, where the letter is neatly tucked with other mails, the letter says: "Team Fortress x Assassin's Creed Au? I think it would be pretty funny considering what TF2 is like and please don't rush anything, prioritize yourself first than us."
The courier of this quaint little town had a simple job.
Make sure every delivery was on time.
Their little town didn’t really get a lot of parcels before so he could just laze around after he was done until…
The alchemist took residence on top of the hill and started completing requests from people that sent letters addressed to the little house on the top of the hill.
The alchemist had been busy for weeks now and each time he would visit to deliver the daily mail, there would be enough items and concoctions to fill his cart.
And today was no different.
His eyes stayed on the flower bed with red flowers almost in bloom.
“That’s for tomorrow.” The alchemist said as they handed him the latest of batch of deliveries, including a…
“Uuuhh… I’m not sure if they’ll deliver weapons?” The courier said awkwardly.
The alchemist turned to stare at him as they say, “It’s a toy.”
“…”
“…”
“…”
“…”
“…”
“It’s a toy.” The alchemist repeated in the same even tone they usually have.
The courier sighed and rubbed the top of his head as he said, “Yeah, okay. I’ll take note that it’s a toy.”
He eyed the alchemist as he added, “I’m sure it’s quite a fragile toy that shouldn’t be rattled a lot, right?”
“It is of grave importance that it does not jostle at all.”
The courier sighed once more.
He’d wrap it in bubble wrap and lots of heavy blanket before sending it then.
===================================
Funny thing, Desmond’s voice actor, Nolan North, voiced Soldier and Engineer in ‘Expiration Date’ so now I’m just thinking Desmond would get a class that’s focused on building things to aid his team but he has a rocket launcher that has low damage capabilities as it’s mainly used to create things (hitting them with his rocket launcher also heals them). So he’s like… a long ranged version of Engineer which needs more time/shots to build stuff to combat his ability to build from afar.
But first let’s talk about how this crossover would be like.
The easiest way would be that they all get kicked into TF2 world (although it would be super funny if it was the other way around and it’s the TF2 guys wrecking havoc in the AC world)
The main characters of the main games would find themselves in the TF2 world and have to adapt because their skills and abilities have been changed to be more in line with how the TF2 world operates.
What does that mean?
Well…
The TF2 world sorta maybe no seriously absolutely…
… just got a lot of people with the ability of the spy.
Like, just imagine an elite group of spies, with the ability to be completely invisible by just pulling on their hood, eyes that can see everything around them (even other invisible people) and has a weapon that can kill instant death.
Pyro would have a hard time with them because they have the habit of freerunning on higher grounds, even scaffolding!
And they have this habit of killing people who abuse their power and even go as far as commit atrocities for the sake of their greed or desires.
In other words…
TF Industries is fucked and the Mann brothers can’t do anything but wait for the inevitable.
(This also places them in direct oppositions with the mercenaries)
PS: The life extending machine might react to Desmond like a POE and that’s a whole other mystery XD

Imagine playing Animal Crossing with Seven.
You're finally getting to visit his island. He's been hyping it up for a while now and you were admittedly curious how a man like him would decorate his virtual space. You're not sure what you were expecting, but you honestly should have seen this coming. When you get there, it is the craziest hacked town you've ever seen. There's everything from scattered trees bearing every conceivable collectable crafting item to the town hall being submerged in the ocean to every villager being replaced with Zipper T. Bunny. You have a slight suspicion that some of his feature manipulation was done specifically to coax an entertaining reaction from you. You are both astounded and concerned.
"Seven, you can't do that! What if your account gets banned for hacking??"
"Hehehe...they'll never catch me~"
He will hook you up with the best items if you ask nicely.
He is capable of decorating like a sane human being, he just has more fun making you freak out.
After your first visit, he starts sending you cute letters every so often. It never fails to make you smile when you log on and check your mailbox to find one or two short and silly letters from the great 707 himself.
"Baam! It's God 707 coming in to bless you with the spoils of my hard work. No need to thank me, it's all part of my job to provide for my honey~ Hahaha, I sounded a bit like Zen there for a second, didn't I?"
"...Seven, please stop mailing me golden toilets."
You two may even be able to rope Yoosung into joining if you can get him away from LOLOL long enough.
"Lololololol, Y/N, I told Yoosung I'd get him some new armor in LOLOL if he could catch a tarantula...and he just about cried when he missed!"
"But there were so many of them! Seven, you didn't tell me there would be so many! How did you even spawn that many at once??"
"That's beside the point."
Overall, you guys have a lot of fun together. Seven is often pretty busy, so you treasure the nights that he has the time to go fishing or bug hunting with you, the two of you chatting the whole time. It's a time of peace. Or... well, as peaceful as anything can be when you're doing it with Seven. But you wouldn't have it any other way.

Hello!
I bought the switch copy of the game today and am loving it up to now. Though, two question:
May I please ask for a list of all marriage candidates? I'd like to know who's possible and who not.
With my copy came a code for a Cozy Cabin Variety pack; which I redeemed via EShop. But now I can't find the items in game. I'm in chapter 3, am I too early for them to be accessible to me?
Hello!
You can view all the romance options under the "Relationships" tab on the main menu!
Tumblr media
For the Cozy Cabin Variety items, make sure you check your in-game mailbox to redeem the items! The outfit and hat should appear in your Outfits tab in your inventory, and you'll need to craft the other items from the Construction Tab once you have the items needed.
Thank you for playing Fae Farm! ✨

You open the bedroom door and step out into the hallway. It’s completely dark except for a dim hallway light and the light now spilling from your bedroom, scattering across the hardwood floor. Directly in front of you is your LIVING ROOM. To the side is an entrance to your KITCHEN. To the left is your BATHROOM. To the right is your HALL CLOSET and FRONT DOOR. If you want to go anywhere, though, you will need to turn on the LIGHT SWITCH nearby that will illuminate the living room area.
Turn on lights>
You flick the switch on and the living room brightens. You can see scattered furniture in the still dim room, shrouded in shadow.
Go to your front door>
You step to the side, facing your front door. The apartment is old but sturdy, built in a time that used much more reliable materials. The door, much like the build of the house, is finely crafted and reliable, painted a fresh white. There is a PEEPHOLE at eye level, and a MAIL SLOT, made of polished golden metal.
Look through peephole>
You close one eye and peer into the small window, looking out. It’s dark outside, so not much can be seen beyond the railing, a warm light cast from a mounted light outside. You’re on a high floor, so you can make out the skyline, illuminated dimly by the glow of the moon. The main city lies beyond, dark towers cutting into the darker blue of the sky, random lights still glowing from people awake at this hour. The city never fully sleeps, you suppose.
Look at mail slot>
The mail slot is overflowing. Although there is a compartment on your side of the door meant to hold mail delivered to the address, it is crammed full and mail has begun to spill out onto the floor. You almost don’t dare OPEN it.
Open mailbox>
You hesitantly turn the lock and don’t even need to swing it open as mail comes pouring out, piling on the floor in a scattered mess. Would it even be worth the effort to clean it right now? Well, perhaps it wouldn’t hurt to at least LOOK at them.
Look at mail>
You crouch down, examining the envelopes and skimming through them. As usual, most of it is junk or ads, but you suddenly notice something that sends a small tinge of guilt through your system. It’s a letter from your old job, perhaps officially stating that you are no longer employed there. It was you who walked out without a word, but somehow you can’t bring yourself to think more about it. You shouldn’t even bother opening it, after all, you already know what it says.
Is that the only reason?
You sift through more letters, trying to forget what you’ve seen, but come across more frustration. A notice of utility shutdown. You suppose that’s what happens when you use so much electricity and buy so many electronics without a job. But even more frustrating is that they would dare attempt to step in the way of your sacred mission. What you are looking for is more important than their petty electrical costs.
Right?
It’s then that you see something you hadn’t noticed initially, a folded piece of paper not in an envelope. Opening it, a handwritten note. READ it?
Read note>
“Jordan, please talk to us. Answer your phone, your instant messenger, anything. Mom went to your job and they told us they hadn’t seen you in weeks. You didn’t even tell them you were leaving, much less your own family. I understand that what you’re looking for is important to you, but what you’re doing isn’t right. You and all these people you talk to, spending all your time on the Internet searching for some greater purpose isn’t what you need to be doing. You can’t find fulfillment that way. Just come back home and talk to us, we only want what’s best for you.
-Dad”
You suddenly notice drops of liquid on the paper. In denial of what caused them, you tear the paper up, tossing it to the floor with the other letters.
Go to bathroom>
You step inside the bathroom. It’s dark, even with the light spilling in from the hallway. You need to turn the LIGHT SWITCH on if you want to see anything.
Turn on light>
You flick the switch.
Look around>
The bathroom is small, with just enough room for a SHOWER, a TOILET, your VANITY, a MIRROR and a MEDICINE CABINET. The walls are tiled, the tiles tiny, glossy and white. The floor tiles, in contrast, are larger and muted, a light beige with darker grout. The room is fine, you suppose, hardly dirty. But clearly not kept up with.
Look at shower>
You look at the shower enclosure, a combined bath and shower. The simple gray shower cloth is open. Bottles of hair products and body wash sit on the edge of the sub. It’s hardly pretty, but it is practical.
Look at toilet>
The toilet is utterly plain and unremarkable. Unlike some apartments, which sought to add a splash of color with blue tiles and yellow toilets, yours is plain and white. Quite pragmatic.
Look at vanity>
The vanity sits comfortably in the corner of the bathroom, a dark wood color with no polish. It was probably purchased cheap. The sink sits above it, the bowl built into the counter. It makes cleaning easier.
Look at mirror>
You look at the mirror and are confronted by yourself. Despite the surface being smudged and dirty, you can tell you don’t exactly look your best. Your hair is unkempt, your face unshaven, and your eyes have dark circles under them. You choose to ignore the other noticeable detail.
Look at medicine cabinet>
You open your medicine cabinet and find a number of unremarkable medications. Cold meds, painkillers, there is truly nothing special here. Then again, you are in some discomfort. Perhaps TAKING SOME PAINKILLERS wouldn’t be so bad.
Take painkillers>
You take the bottle from the shelf and close the door to the medicine cabinet. You can open the bottle and take some with water in the kitchen.
[ACQUIRED PAINKILLERS]
There doesn’t appear to be anything else of note here.
Exit bathroom>
You step back out into the hallway.
Go to living room>
You make your way to the living room, and step into the darkness. Despite there being a light, the room is still quite dim in the night sky. You can make out a COFFEE TABLE, several COUCHES and a FLOOR LAMP.
Use floor lamp>
You step over to the floor lamp, flipping it on. The room is much brighter now.
Look around>
The couches sit idly, both against one wall, forming an L shape in the corner. A small end table sits between them. In the middle of the room is a square coffee table, sitting on a small area rug. The room is cluttered and hasn’t been cleaned in a long time.
Look at couches>
You look at the 2 couches sitting in the corner. They’re both spacious and leather bound, colored a warm tan. Clothes and sheets have been absentmindedly thrown onto them without a single care.
Look at coffee table>
The coffee table is littered in food wrappers, cups and glasses. It’s a real mess. Wrappers are scattered around the floor, having fallen off the sides.
The whole space is such a wreck, it causes your guts to tighten. You once again cannot help but ask yourself why these feelings are only just now emerging, or why they are at all. Weren’t you focused and steadfast on your mission, no matter the cost? Why is your environment suddenly so upsetting? Your stomach grumbles. You really need to eat and clear your head.
Go to kitchen>

There’s a card in Naoto’s mailbox, a simple one expressing well wishes for her birthday. It says:
I heard it was your birthday today, Shirogane. I don’t know you as well as my nephew does, but I wanted to write you something.
We got off on the wrong foot when you were first called in and I was never able to formally apologize. I admit you dealt a blow to my pride, and that was a cause behind my snappy behavior during then. It might be water under the bridge between us now, but I still want to apologize for that and the other times. I’ve learned a lot from my nephew over the past year, so you can thank him for helping a stubborn old man.
My main point is: you’re a capable detective, Shirogane, and I know you’ve made your family proud. My doors are always open to you if you ever want to drop by and visit Nanako. She’s taken a shine to you and asks me when your next visit will be.
Take care, Dojima
P.S This is also a word from my nephew, but he’s expressed concern with the way you seem to forgo eating and sometimes sleep? I don’t know if what I say will change anything, but please eat and sleep a healthy amount. I don’t want you to destroy yourself when you’ve got a long life ahead of you.
Much to Naoto’s relief, birthdays lasted for a single day. Celebrations came and went with the setting sun, and just like that each day after remained just the same. Time ticked away, leaving those cherished memories in the past where they belonged.
It’d been months since Naoto’s own celebratory event. She arrived home that day, after being dragged to a surprise party courtesy of Rise, drained of any social energy. Grandpa greeted her as any other time with a head bow and handed her a card addressed for her. A birthday card, from Dojima-san. At first glance, Naoto took it without a hint of curiosity. She didn’t bother opening it upon entering her room, or even have the desire to read what was inside.
So it stayed hidden, piled beneath disheveled mounds of paper...forgotten...
Tumblr media
Until the day Naoto finally decided a much-needed summer clean up was in order. Clearing her desk of unnecessary items and dusting off her shelves found herself holding the sealed birthday card once again. The colored envelope lost some of its vibrancy since she last saw it. With a disgruntled sigh, she began carefully tearing away the glued flap. Why not take a look now in case Dojima-san asked her about it the next time they saw each other. Whenever that may be...
The front of the card was decorated with simple designs, swirls and tight curls adorning the classic message in the middle. Opening the inside, however, garnered Naoto’s attention a little more. His crude handwriting was hard to miss, considering she memorized it off of official police papers and documents. Grey-blue eyes simply skimmed his words. She didn’t pay much attention to his message...but then suddenly stopped.
‘You’re a capable detective, Shirogane, and I know you’ve made your family proud.’
Tumblr media
...Naoto started from the beginning. This time, carefully reading over each word he wrote. While the distaste of Dojima-san and his co-workers’ treatment of her assistance never left, and would never be forgotten, somehow his crafted message managed to strike her. Not many former clients or agencies ever bothered reaching out for apologies, not even of his caliber. A simply thank you card, a case being locked down or closed, even a formal handshake ended Naoto’s contracts more times than not. No one bothered taking up the responsibility for treating the young detective as a mere tool for their benefit. She’s still a kid, after all.
‘I still want to apologize for that and the other times.’
While some nagging part of Naoto believed it to be Dojima covering his own tracks, she couldn’t deny the truth written down. One read-through didn’t satisfy Naoto. Two didn’t either, and neither would three. Each time made the knot in her chest tighten, her hands tightly grip the cardboard material, and her breathing resort to intaking deeper breaths.
What was this doing to her? Why did she feel a strange satisfaction over something simple as an apology?
Thankfully, no one other than Hercule saw the moment where Naoto’s composure broke. Several counted breaths returned her to normal, and after folding the note into equal squares she slipped it inside the top desk organizer. No longer hidden, but in sight...just in case Naoto ever felt a need to re-read it again. If that ever happened...
Tumblr media
Tomorrow didn’t seem quite as busy. Perhaps a visit to see Nanako was in order.

I started up my 18th century game this morning, intending to play the little pirate BACC I started and posted pictures from. Decided I needed to add some natives to this shipwreck island, and proceeded to spend three hours loading the game, making them, and starting a village lot for them to live. Never got around to the actual pirates.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Verrrrry much a work in progress; this is basically all I built so far, all clustered along the end of a 5x6 lot. And I didn’t even remember to fix the resolution, argh. So far, there’s the round tower hut with four levels, including the chief’s sleeping quarters in the roof, a communal sleeping space, and a somewhat sparse living area. The second building--connected by bridge, by the way--has a central fire pit and kitchen space, with tables for dining, an a second floor balcony around it. There’s also a big campfire space just outside. Not pictured is the hot spring and little outhouse hut. And I need to build farms, animal pens (chickens and pigs, mostly), and perhaps a few other Sun&Moon crafting stations. Probably a few more huts, but right now it’s not necessary--the Chief and her husband are the only couple. And many more trees and plants, and I need to cover or replace the mailbox an trash can. But I’m please with how it’s gone so far!
I also have refined my Pirate BACC rules slightly, but I won’t get into that until I actually play some more. The native village won’t be subject to the same rules, but will have to be played in rotation.

Fandom: Criminal Minds Pairings: Aaron Hotchner/Female Reader Word Count: 6,300 Tags: 18+, NSFW, Art, Neighbor Hotch, Shy and Oblivious Hotch, Flirting, It's soo sappy I'm sorry, Oral sex, Unprotected sex Summary: Aaron's new neighbor is out of his league for so many reasons: she's young, beautiful, artistic, unique, free-spirited, the kind of person who turns heads when she walks down the street. It's no wonder he ends up falling in love with her. *Requested by anon Link to A03 or read below! Against all of his better judgement, Aaron is kind of creeping on his new next door neighbor.
He is absolutely the type of man, any other time, to approach a woman he’s interested in and introduce himself, look for a way to connect, some common ground, but this is no ordinary woman.
She is out of his league in so many ways: young, beautiful, unique, free-spirited, the type of person who turns heads when she walks down the street. There’s not a chance in hell she would look twice at an old, stuffy, monotone suit with a seven year old son and perpetual bags under his eyes. That’s not him feeling bad about himself, it’s just the way the world works.
The first time he saw her, she was getting on the elevator while he was getting off of it, and they’d bumped into each other; she was wearing a short, flowy dress, and she’d smiled at him, apologized, eyes sparkling, smelling like she’d spent all day in the sunshine. It was the only time since Haley he’d ever entertained the idea of love at first sight.
She keeps to herself most of the time, gives off the air of being really cool and mysterious; their paths have crossed a few times since then—at the bank of mailboxes downstairs, in the hallway they share, once during a false alarm fire alarm—but he enjoys watching her paint more than anything.
They have balconies next to each other, and one night when he was tending to his herb garden—Jack enjoys watching the plants grow, and picking the herbs, Aaron likes to eat them—he spotted her standing on hers, facing away from him, in cut off jean shorts and a baggy t-shirt, barefoot. She’d been painting the city, the sky, with the sunset glowing behind her like she was the work of art, and he actually felt an ache in his chest, the feeling of missing someone he’s never really met.
Since that night, he’s started taking his work outside in the evenings after Jack goes to bed, and sitting in near silence while she paints, hums—sometimes songs he knows, sometimes songs he doesn’t. The first time he goes out before she does, she says hello when she drags her easel out, so he starts to say hello to her when she beats him there, too, but that’s pretty much the extent of their interaction. One evening when Aaron and Jack are getting home from dinner, she is lugging a canvas bigger than she is through the hallway and Jack almost runs headfirst into it; when he looks up, he exclaims about how big it is, and pretty—it’s covered with colors, something abstract and cheerful, and even if he’d seen it on the side of the road, he would have just known that she painted it. (That may be a good indicator that he’s getting in a little too deep.)
“Wow, that’s the biggest painting I’ve ever seen! And so many colors,” Jack says, awed. Aaron puts his hands on his shoulders to keep him out of her way; they’re already bothering her enough, when she’s clearly trying to get that giant thing home.
“It’s pretty cool, isn’t it? I carry bigger pieces around at my studio, believe it or not,” she says to him, poking her head around the side to look at him.
“You have a studio?” His eyes are wide with interest; his favorite subject has always been art, as evidenced by their refrigerator, which is covered in drawings. She offers him an even brighter smile.
“I do! It’s not far from here; it’s called Live in Color. There’s a big rainbow painted on the side.”
“That’s so cool; it must be awesome to have your own studio.” Aaron loves that Jack seems to be so passionate about this, but the way they are obviously holding her up has him feeling awkward; he tugs gently on Jack’s backpack.
“That is really cool, bud, but we should let her go. I’m sure that’s heavy.” She smiles, shrugs.
“It’s no trouble. Hey, actually, we have some children’s art classes at the studio, and you look like you’d fit right in with the Green group—ages 7-9?” She looks up at Aaron, who nods. “Maybe we can talk dad into bringing you down sometime. We do painting, drawing, and crafts, it’s really fun.” She’s still looking right at Aaron, gives him a little wink, and he swears to god he gets butterflies in his stomach.
He’s a grown man. A federal agent. With butterflies. It’s insane.
“Oh man, dad, please? Can I take classes at her studio pleeease?” Jack tugs on the sleeve of his suit, and he nods, smiles down at him.
“Yeah, absolutely, Jack. We’ll go down and get more information tomorrow?” he offers, to both placate him and finally free the poor girl from the conversation; he nods excitedly, and she smiles, looks sweet, genuinely happy Jack is so excited to take the class.
“Cool, I look forward to seeing you guys there. Actually, if you give me one sec, I can grab my card for you.” She passes them, carrying the canvas and looking effortless while she does it; she props it up against the wall to get her keys out, unlocks her door and heads in, pops back out with a business card in a vivid watercolor yellow. “It has the address and phone number for the studio on the front, and I put my cell on the back; I figured it couldn’t hurt, considering we live next door to each other. Now you know who to call if you ever have an art emergency.”
He takes the card from her fingers, flips it over just to see the handwritten name and number; he knew her script would be lovely, and it is, easy and flowing and natural. It suits her. He tries not to grin, or flush, or otherwise be awkward about the fact that she just gave him her phone number, however innocently.
“Thank you. We’ll see you tomorrow.” They turn to head for their apartment, and she clears her throat; he smiles a little, turns back, and she’s leaning casually up against the canvas with her arms crossed.
“You know my name now. What’s yours?” She’s just being polite, but he gets the goddamn butterflies again.
“Aaron.” She smiles, something beautiful and a little wild.
“Okay, Aaron. See you outside.” From then on, most of their free time, be it evenings or weekends, is spent at the studio. Aaron isn’t the only parent who sticks around—it’s an art class, not a daycare, he doesn’t feel right just dropping Jack off and leaving him there—and he’s also not the only parent, it seems, who is aware of his beautiful young neighbor.
“She’s incredible, right?” another dad says to him one evening, over by the coffee. Aaron looks him over briefly—it’s a job hazard, he sizes up everyone, but he already has a weird feeling about this guy. “I’ve been bringing my kid here for a month just to look at that little ass running around. My wife just thinks our daughter is just really into art.” He says it with a laugh, like that’s a ridiculous concept. Aaron feels himself start to boil.
“You shouldn’t be disrespectful. She’s doing a great thing here, for the children; she’s not doing it for you to ogle her.” He feels a little hypocritical, because he is also looking, but not like this guy. He knows guys like this. He puts away guys like this.
He glances over at Aaron, looking a little taken aback that someone actually commented on his behavior, then rolls his eyes.
“She doesn’t need you to defend her honor, buddy. She wouldn’t run around here in those overalls if she didn’t want us looking. It’s job security.” She’s wearing the overalls tonight, denim shorts with one of the straps unhooked, a t-shirt underneath, but it’s not as if she’s performing a striptease. She just looks like an artist, covered in drips of paint, smiling as she looks at the kids’ pictures over their shoulders. Aaron really, really hates this guy.
“In my experience, women usually dress for themselves; they probably have pockets, easier to keep things at hand that she may need, and it’s warm in here, so she’s likely dressing for comfort. She’s certainly not dressing for you.”
As if she can sense the tension, she looks over at them, flicks her eyes over Aaron, then the other guy, and walks over with a soft smile on her face.
“Hey, Aaron, Jack really wanted you to see what he’s working on.” She reaches out a hand, wraps it around his wrist and guides him over to Jack’s table. “I figured I’d save you,” she says when they’re out of earshot. “That guy sucks. He’s always saying creepy things to me and Alaina.”
“You should ask him to leave if he makes you uncomfortable,” he says, looking down at her with worry. “I can do it.” She shrugs.
“I would, but his daughter really does enjoy the class, and it’s not fair to her that her dad’s disgusting. It’s nothing we can’t handle.” She squeezes his wrist lightly. “Thanks, though. Hey Jack, show dad your project.” He peers over his shoulder, and it’s a pink and orange skyline, much like the one he saw her painting that first time on the balcony. “I asked the kids to paint my favorite thing today, and that’s sunset.”
“I saw you painting this one night,” he says, and then he feels abruptly like an idiot. She just smiles at him though, nods.
“Yeah, I’m a sucker for a beautiful sunset. It makes you feel like, just because the day ends, it doesn’t have to mean things are over; it’s just one of life’s beautiful natural transitions. And the colors are to die for: peach, coral, jasmine, rose, tiger’s eye.” He finds himself unexpectedly touched by her description, smiles softly to shake himself of the emotions.
“The way you see the world is extraordinary. To me it’s just kind of… orange.” She returns his expression, but softer, and squeezes his wrist again; he didn’t even realize she was still holding it.
“Sounds like you need some art in your heart. I give lessons for adults, too; you could even come over and paint with me on my balcony, some time. Special neighbor privileges.”
The thought of being with her on her balcony while she paints is almost overwhelming, which he finds funny, considering he currently sits no more than twenty feet away. There is an intimacy about it, while they both do their work in the cool, quiet breeze, but standing like this, close enough to touch, with the late day sun on her face while she talks about colors… he’s not sure he could handle it without falling in love.
She pats him on the back, moves on to another child, and he tells Jack what a great job he’s doing; his face is lit up, so happy, and regardless of the neighbor, he’s glad they stumbled upon this hobby.
When they pack up to leave, the jerk from earlier comes up to him, leans in to speak in a hushed voice. “You should have just told me you were fucking her. I would have backed off.” He blinks, but the guy and his daughter are walking out the door before he finds himself able to do more than that. About a week later, he goes over for that lesson almost by accident. Jack is at Jessica’s for the night at his request, and Aaron was planning to order takeout and have a paperwork cramming session, but when goes out onto the balcony, phone in hand to place an order, his neighbor is standing on hers like she’s waiting for him.
“Hey. I saw you don’t have Jack; I made some pasta with vodka sauce, if you’re hungry. I always prepare too much.” He sets his phone on the table, walks over to the railing to get a little closer.
“Uh. Sure. I have fresh basil growing here; trade?” She smiles, nods.
“Yeah, sounds delicious. I’ll be right back.” She ducks inside, returns a few moments later with two dishes of steaming, saucy pasta, sets one down on her table and gets right up against her railing, hands the other over to him across his. “That one’s for you,” she says, handing him an orange plate, and he sets it down, picks a few good looking leaves from his basil plant and tears them up, drops them on top. “And this one’s for me.” She reaches, holds a green plate over the gap between their porches, and he adds some basil to it before she pulls it back, takes a deep sniff. “God, it smells so good and fresh. Thank you, Aaron.”
“Thank you, it looks great.” He goes to sit at his table with it, but she scoots her chair closer to the railing, closer to his balcony, so he does the same. They make easy small talk while they eat, mostly about Jack, a little about her studio and his work.
“FBI, huh? I can definitely see that, with your suits, and your… neutrals.” She cringes when she says it, and it makes him laugh.
“I’m sorry I can’t wear paint covered overalls to the office,” he teases, and she shoots him a playfully affronted look, grins.
“You love my paint covered overalls—and for the record, you’d look great in them. You should find a pair. Preferably not black.” He flushes a little at that, but she doesn’t notice, just finishes up her pasta with a sigh of contentment. “That was so good, thanks again for the basil.”
“You’re welcome; thanks for feeding me something other than the takeout I planned to have.” He stands up, gestures to his apartment. “I’ll wash the plate and then hand it back over.”
“Why don’t you just bring it over and come paint with me for a little while? If you want,” she tacks on, and for the first time she seems a little nervous. “I’m not trying to be pushy, I just think it would be fun.”
It’s not that he doesn’t want to; it would be amazing to watch her paint up close and personal. He’s just also afraid he’ll pass the point of no return if he does it, and he can’t handle any more heartache. He only very recently got to a place where just waking up in the morning no longer causes him agony.
It’s the look on her face, though, soft and sweet and open, that makes his decision for him.
“Yeah, okay. I’d like that.” She grins.
“I’ll unlock the door.”
She’s dragging out her easel when he walks through the door; her apartment is stark white walls with vibrant furniture, artwork, canvases propped up against every bare spot along the wall, paints and brushes and charcoal and pencils on every surface. It’s exactly what he would have expected, warm and lived-in and comforting, very unlike the mostly black and gray interior of his own apartment. She smiles when she sees him.
“Hey! Can you grab that tray of paint on your way out?” she asks, and he picks up what looks kind of like an ice cube tray filled with many different colors, carries it out to the balcony with him. She has a canvas propped up, a little larger than a computer monitor, and she’s gotten started, but he can’t tell what it’s going to be just yet. When he hands her the paint she looks down at it, peers around the edge of the canvas like she’s comparing something. He’s so intrigued, curious about the way her mind works, what she’s thinking.
“What are you painting?” he asks when she picks up a brush, sets it down, picks up another. She smiles at him.
“Well, we’re painting that.” She points to the street, where there’s a rusty, pale blue antique car parked—he says that loosely, because it looks broken down—in the alley. Aaron chuckles softly.
“We’re going to paint that? It’s a little… grim.”
“Yes. It’s part of a series I just decided to create: ‘Beauty in the Ordinary.’” She sighs, and he’s surprised to see that her eyes are a little wet. She wipes the back of her hand over her eyes. “You know Bob Ross, right? Everyone knows Bob Ross.” He nods.
“Yes; the guy who paints the happy trees on PBS.”
“Right. I used to watch him growing up, and I vividly remember something he said once, about needing both darkness and light in life and in painting. ‘You have to have a little sadness once in a while to know when the good times come. I’m waiting on the good times now.’” She sniffles, exhales softly. “I’m waiting on the good times too. Sometimes looking at things like this car, and forcing myself to find something beautiful in it, is the easiest way to get through the day. Does that make sense?” He swallows hard when she looks up at him, because aside from Jack, she has been the lightest part of his life since the first time they passed each other on the elevator.
“Yeah, it really does.” She shoots him a soft, slightly sadder smile, and then explains about the paints a little, shows him the difference in the brushes, lets him feel the weight of them, the textures of the bristles.
She starts painting the car—the background is mostly finished—and he’s more than happy to watch, to hear her talk about her process. She asks if she can use his forearm to mix paints, and he turns it over, wrist up, tries not to smile too hard when she puts some dark blue on him, then white, mixing them and then comparing them to the car on the street. He looks down at her, the concentration on her face, the softness in her eyes, and is met with the sudden desire to brush a line of paint over her nose and make her laugh and kiss her breathless.
“Okay, your turn,” she says when she’s about halfway done with the car. She puts her hands on the backs of his arms, pulls him in front of the canvas so she’s between him and the railing. “You’ve been watching me, so you know what to do.” He has been watching her, but not necessarily for her technique, so he’s a little nervous; he dips the brush in the blue paint but hesitates to make a stroke. “I have faith in you, Aaron. Here.”
She wraps her fingers around his hand, guides him toward the canvas, and together they make a wide, curved line, rounding out the bumper. It doesn’t look half bad.
“It gets easier once you understand the relationship between specific paint, specific brushes, and your hands,” she says softly, and she helps him paint another line. “Are you having fun? You look stressed,” she teases, and he makes it a point to relax his face.
“I’m having a lot of fun,” he says, looking down at her; they make eye contact for a long moment, and she leans a little closer, and he leans a little closer, and then he accidentally dabs a blob of blue onto the canvas. He pulls back, grimaces, deflates. “I made a mistake. You can’t erase paint, right?” She laughs softly, takes the brush from his hand.
“No, you can’t erase paint, but as Mr. Ross would say, ‘There are no mistakes, only happy accidents.’” She gets her fingers close to the tip of the brush, makes a few quick movements, then grabs another brush, dips it in green. When she pulls back, there is a little blue flower growing out of a patch of grass where his blob used to be. He exhales, a little amazed.
“If only the mistakes we make in life were that easy to fix,” he says, and she nods.
“Yeah, that would be nice, but a lot of the time we find a way to turn them into beautiful things eventually. Are you willing to give it another shot?” He says yes, and she guides his hand for a while, then just hovers near it, then just instructs him on what to do. It’s dark before their painting is finished, and she carries it inside to dry, then takes him to the kitchen sink to scrub the paint off of his arm.
“Thanks for having me over; I had a really good time,” he murmurs as she dries his clean skin. She looks up, smiles softly, nods her head.
“I had a really good time too. I’m glad you came over; you’re welcome to join me any time.”
He says goodbye, heads home, looks at his stack of work with a groan, and brews a pot of coffee. He’s in for a long night, but he wouldn’t change his evening for anything. Life is much the same for the next few weeks: school and work, Jack’s art class at the studio a couple times a week, painting on the balcony on the weekend, with and without Jack. When Jack joins them for the first time, she pulls out a big box of markers and thick sheets of paper and he draws elaborate scenes while they talk and paint together. When Aaron makes mistakes, she’s never upset, just turns them into perfect little details that end up being his favorite parts of the paintings.
“What ever happened with your ‘Beauty in the Ordinary’ series?” he asks one evening while they’re painting some ocean waves. “Did I cause you enough trouble with the car to give up?” She looks down at the ground, looks a little shy, then shakes her head and smiles.
“No, you didn’t make me want to give up. I’ve been working on it at the studio. You’ll see it when it’s all done, I plan to hang them there.”
“Looking forward to it,” he tells her, and then Jack tugs on her shorts, shows them the picture he drew of the ocean, too.
Later that week, the team takes a case, and on the day he’s set to come home, Jessica drops Jack off at the studio with the plan that Aaron will pick him up when his flight lands. Due to some weather between where the team is and home, they get a little delayed; he doesn’t want to make Jessica head back out that way almost immediately after dropping him off, but he’s not sure who else he could ask to pick Jack up. It’s almost a stupid length of time before it dawns on him to call the studio.
“Life in Color, this is Alaina.”
“Alaina, hi, this is Jack’s dad—” He has his whole spiel prepared, but she cuts him off.
“Oh, sure, hang on a sec, she’s right here. It’s Jack’s dad,” she says, but it sounds further away, like she’s trying to cover the receiver. After a moment, his neighbor picks up.
“Aaron, hi. Jack said you were working.”
“Yeah, I was, and I’m supposed to pick him up after class, but our flight was delayed.” He doesn’t know how to ask for help with Jack; even with all the time they’ve been spending together, she still makes him a little nervous. Luckily, he doesn’t have to figure that part out on his own.
“Hey, that’s no problem. If it’s okay with you, I’ll just take him home with me. I’ll order pizza, we’ll draw, and you can just stop by when you’re home and pick him up.” He breathes a sigh of relief, runs a hand over the back of his head.
“That would be perfect. Thank you—I’ll owe you one.”
“You don’t owe me anything. Hanging out with your mini me is reward enough; he’s painting something special for you today, won’t let me see it.” That makes him smile, and he feels so warm at the prospect of picking him up from her bright apartment, seeing his artwork, her smile. After a long, draining day like this one, it’s exactly what he needs.
“I’ll have to remain in suspense until tonight, I guess. Can you let him know I said hi? And thank you, I’ll see you later tonight.”
“Of course. We’ll see you then.”
It’s late, after nine, by the time he makes it home. He doesn’t even take his bags inside, just drops them outside his door and knocks softly on hers. She answers with a smile, ushers him in, asks him if he’d like a drink and gets them each a beer.
Jack is in her room, asleep, so they have a little time to chat; she asks about his flight, his case, and he asks about the studio, and she gets a little shy when it comes to that topic, clears her throat.
“Um. I have Jack’s secret project, if you want to see it. He said I could show you.” He’s not sure why that would make her nervous—at least, until he sees it.
The background is all watercolors, a gradient of rainbow colors starting with pink at the top and ending with a soft purple at the bottom. Over that, in black marker, he’s drawn the three of them, with a big heart around them.
“Tonight’s theme was the thing that makes you the happiest, and he said he’s the happiest when the three of us are on the balcony together. It was… really, really sweet.” She looks up at him, brushes a hand over the crown of her head. “If I’m being honest, that’s when I’m the happiest, too.” He takes the picture from her hands, runs his fingers over it, and smiles, feeling a warm ache in his chest—not like before, not like losing someone he’s never really met, but like finding something he never really planned on.
“That’s when I’m the happiest, too,” he agrees, and when he looks up, she looks determined, like she does when trying to find just the right shade of paint. She takes Jack’s picture out of his hand, sets it on the counter, and then pulls him down by the lapels of his suit, kisses him long and slow. His hands move to her waist, keeping her close, and eventually she pauses for breath, looks at him again, and then wraps her arms around his neck and kisses him some more.
“I haven’t stopped thinking about you since the first time I saw you—tall and dark and serious, striding out of the elevator. So intriguing, mysterious,” she breathes when they separate again. “I wanted to know everything about you.”
“Are you kidding?” he asks, huffing a laugh. “I’m boring, but you are so vibrant, so full of life; I felt like you were everything I wasn’t, and I wanted to know you so badly.”
“You know me now; would you like to keep getting to know me?” It’s one of the easiest questions he’s ever been asked; he nods, and she beams, and he lifts her into his arms and carries her to the couch, drapes himself over her while she leans back against the cushions, pulling him closer.
They make out like neither of them have a care in the world—god, how long has it been since he’s made out with someone?—her fingers scraping through his hair, his hands on her bare waist when her shirt rides up, and she’s in the process of pushing his jacket off his shoulders when they hear a sound from the other room that startles them apart. Jack.
“I’ll go check on him,” Aaron says, and when he goes into her room Jack is still snuggled up on her bed sound asleep. It looks like some canvases fell over, though, and he stoops to pick them up, then spots the car they painted together. He turns and she’s right behind him, skids to a stop. “I thought you said these were at the studio?”
“They were,” she says, and she looks nervous again. “But I changed my mind about hanging them there. They felt too personal.” He runs his hand over the car and sees where she’s coming from; this one feels personal to him, too.
“Can I see the rest?” he asks. “Only if you want to show me them.”
“You’re the only one I want to show them to,” she says with a soft smile, and she grabs a few more canvases, carries them into the light of the living room. “Beauty in the ordinary, remember.” He remembers, could never forget.
She turns one over, and it’s a kitchen sink, and in the kitchen sink is an orange plate with a fork resting on it—like the plate she’d given him with the pasta on it. She turns one over and it’s a man’s hand, holding a paintbrush, with pale blue paint on his forearm. The next one is a little herb garden on a balcony; the next one is a view from above, of a sandy haired boy with markers all around him. The last one is an open elevator—ripe with possibilities.
When he looks up at her, she’s got tears in her eyes, and one slips down her cheek.
“So, I think I’ve found my good times.” She smiles through her tears, and he takes her face in his hands and kisses the salt from her lips. “I love you,” she says when he pulls back to wipe her face with his sleeve, and he kisses her softly, again and again, and tells her he loves her, too. The next weekend, Jack is at Jessica’s for a sleepover, and Aaron has been enlisted to help with an art project. He walks next door, knocks lightly, and enters the living room; he is met with a very deep, passionate kiss and a smile, and instructions to help move the furniture out of the way.
“I’m really curious what kind of art requires this much floor space,” he says, shoving her couch back against the wall, and she sinks her teeth into her bottom lip, a move he has been unable to resist since she did it the first time they had sex. She knows it’s a weakness, exploits it, and he loves every minute of it.
“You’ll see, but I promise you’re going to like it.” When they clear the floor, she grabs a large, rolled-up fabric canvas and lays it out in the middle of the room, then drops three bottles of paint—one is yellow (jasmine), one is orange (peach), and one is kind of pink (coral? He’s still not sure.)—onto it. “You can obviously say no if you want, but I wanted something over my bed with the sunset colors, and I found this…” She steps closer to him, runs her hands down his chest, guides him down for a kiss so delicious he loses his train of thought. “It’s sex art; we put the paint on the canvas, and on ourselves, and… you know, go at it. What do you think?”
He thinks he really, really loves art now, even more than he thought possible.
“So we have paint-covered sex and then you just hang it on the wall? Like regular art?”
“Yep, I got the supplies I’ll need to hang it; letting it dry will probably take the longest. I figured we could shower while it’s drying, maybe go for round two, if you’re up for it.” She moves her hand to his waist, slips it inside his shorts, and he pulls her closer to his body. “Are you up for it, Aaron?”
That is an understatement.
Undressing happens extremely fast, because this is really sexy and they’re kind of in a phase where they can’t keep their hands off of each other anyway. She pulls her hair up onto the top of her head to try to minimize the amount of paint in it, and then she pours paint on the canvas, turns around and drizzles some on his back and tells him to lay down.
“I think we should probably change positions often so we get a lot of motion on the canvas; I apologize to your old knees in advance,” she teases, but she soothes the sting of her words by pouring paint on herself and then laying between his legs and licking at his dick. “Do some stuff with your hands; I want to see those big handprints on my wall,” she murmurs, and he groans, puts his palms down in the paint and drags them through it.
She leans up a little, sliding her knees through some yellow paint, sucks him fully, deeply into her mouth for couple of minutes, and then stretches forward and puts an orange hand right in the middle of his chest; the look in her eyes is playful, and he reaches out with one finger, hooks it under her chin, and guides her off and up so they can kiss.
“Your turn,” he says with a smirk, and then he gets her onto her back and ducks between her legs, hopes she doesn’t grab for his hair like she usually does. He rubs his pointed tongue over her clit, waits for the mmm it always elicits, and looks up at her, covers each of her breasts with a paint-covered palm and squeezes. “Leave handprints for me,” he leans up and reminds her, kissing her stomach, and she plants her hands, then presses up and grabs his shoulder, smearing pink down his back. “Oh, you wanted more of that?”
“Don’t tease me, the paint will dry,” she whines, and he spreads her thighs wider with his elbows and licks her pussy quickly, until she’s squirming against the canvas and panting for more. “Come here, come here.”
He’s not ready for that, though, paint or not, wants her to come from this; he takes his hands off of her, dips them in the paint again and presses down, then puts his hands under her ass and brings her closer so he can fuck her with his tongue, quick and deep and slick.
“Aaron, Aaron, god.” She slides her hands down his arms, over his neck, digs her nails in when she comes moaning like music.
While she catches her breath, so gorgeous, she sticks her arms out like she’s making a snow angel, and he catches her while she’s off guard and turns her onto her stomach, puts his hands on the smears of paint he’s already left on her ass, and slides inside.
“Oh my god; I was trying to impress you with this sexy art project, but you’re rocking my world.” She’s breathless, pressing back into his thrusts and painting with her entire body. God, he loves her mind.
“You know I always take your projects very seriously,” he says, leaning forward to whisper in her ear, and she groans, laughs.
“Yes you do. From the side? Let’s lay diagonally.” They shift, and he hooks his chin over her shoulder, kisses her neck and huffs hot against her hair. “Hmm, love it like this,” she sighs, and she reaches back to press her hand to his hip, holding him while he moves inside her. “I love you.”
“Love you. I want you to finish on top of me,” he instructs with a wet kiss to her throat, and she nods against his lips.
“Yeah, next; I’m getting close.” A few more strokes and she gets up onto her knees, lets him lay back, propped up on his arms, and climbs on top of him; she kisses him slow and dirty and then runs her hands over him, sits back on his dick and glides up and down. “You wanna come like this too? I owe you a little world rocking,” she says with a flick of her tongue over his bottom lip, and he nods, squeezes her thigh.
“It’s the least you can do after making me move all the heavy furniture.” She rolls her eyes but kisses his chin, down his throat, and bounces harder on him, all delicious eye contact and moans. “Mmm. Just like that, baby, come for me.”
“Fuck. I will, I will.” She wraps a hand around the back of his neck, kisses him kind of rough and with lots of tongue, and then tips her head back and climaxes, clenches, wrings his orgasm out of him so quickly it’s almost jarring. “Oh, yes Aaron. So good,” she mumbles, and then he lays back, out of breath, and she slides out of his lap and lays beside him, out of breath too.
After a moment, she looks over at him, smiles, and swipes a pink fingertip over his cheek.
“This is the hottest thing I’ve ever done with anyone. I’m glad I got to do it with you.” He rolls on top of her, presses a kiss to her nose, and nods.
“Me too. You know,” he adds after a moment, “my bedroom could use some artwork, too.” She grins, wraps her arms around him and squeezes tight.
“You’re right; I think we should do yours in blue: liberty, that’s dark blue; periwinkle, that’s light blue; maybe steel gray, too.”
“You’re the expert. I’m just your paintbrush.” Her hands smooth up his back, and contentment washes over him like a warm breeze.
“Hmm. I like the sound of that. Want to get cleaned up?”
Cleaning up is almost as fun as making the mess, because they’re well and truly covered, and when the canvas dries, the sunset colors are almost as beautiful as the ones she used the first time he ever saw her paint. I’ve wanted to do this for ages. And I tried very hard to get it right :) But I’m finally sharing this lot with you! And this is my first lot that I upload!
This is a residential lot. It is assumed that the employees will live on the second floor. There are bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom, laundry room and storage.
Pets are kept on the first floor. There is a separate room for cats. Dogs live in kennels inside the annex or outside kennels where they can run and play with each other. There is also vet cabinet, pets food storage and animal kitchen.
There are a couple of shelves with stuff at the reception, so you can open a small home business if you want.
This lot is CC-heavy, so please be careful with downloading and installing it. In the archive you will find the lot itself and the folder with all the necessary CC separately. Just install the lot with Sims2Pack Clear Installer and drop the CC folder into your downloads folder, and everything should work. You don't need to download anything separately.
The lot has been cleaned, compressed and tested by me, everything should function as expected. You can see how it looks in the gameplay by this or this tag. Anyway be sure to let me know if something goes wrong or if you have any questions!
DOWNLOAD SFS | Mediafire
The CC list and TONS of pictures under the cut. The СС list is also available here. I tried my best to find all the links but I still could miss something.

Another school year down, you couldn’t believe it. Two entire years done, and only more until it’s your turn to walk across the stage. Now that it was getting nicer out, your new favorite to work was the back deck, especially when Harry would come out and bring you a glass of wine. It wasn’t lost on you how much he doted on you. If you got cold, he was right there with a blanket and your fuzzy socks, if you were hungry he was right there with a snack. There was plenty you did for him, or that you did equally, like laundry and cooking and cleaning, but it was hard not to notice the way her almost…babies you.
Now, most of the time, men were the ones that liked to be babied in relationships, and that’s not to say that Harry doesn’t. He loves when he gets to lay his head on your chest and you play with his hair, or when you scrub his head in the shower, or the mornings you get up before him and lay his clothes out for him. You both took care of each other in different ways, which was nice, but he was used to taking care of someone in a parental way.
Harry was extremely different at work, though. He didn’t want to give students or colleagues a reason to tease either of you, so despite his clingy nature, he wouldn’t be too kissy or huggy with you. He was thankful that the school year was over so he could love on you all he wanted.
He had his own work as well, he had his latest manuscript. He would try to work when you were working, but sometimes he got writer’s block, or inspiration would hit at an odd hour. You loved watching him work, and if it was the middle of the night with him working away, you’d crawl into his lap and tell him it was time for bed. To which he happily listened.
It was weird being home while Andy was still in school, but it left you with plenty of time to plan his party. This year his party would be at your house since it was at Paige’s last year. You wanted to make sure there were tons of yard games for all the kids to play, and also things for the adults to do. You and Andy started crafting a playlist together that Harry was not allowed to help with because “no one my age wants to listen to Fleetwood, get over it!” was an argument you were sick of listening to, plus it was nice to have something to do together.
“Okay, we’ve got horseshoes, badminton, water balloons, and corn-hole, that should plenty of things for people to do back here.” You say as you look around the yard. Andy and Harry were just getting the badminton net into place.
“We also have a volleyball in case they wanna play that instead.” Harry says. “And we’ve got all the snacks in the world to keep everyone happy until I get to grilling.”
“So is this less of a family party?” You ask him.
“Little bit, I mean, Lydia, Allie and Ned will be here, but that’s it for Paige’s side. There’s more friends coming this year, that’s for sure.”
“I’m getting the Bluetooth going so there’s music when people start to show up.” Andy says. “I’m really excited, Caroline’s sisters are coming, and they’re really nice.”
“Is her oldest still coming to the university in the fall?” You ask.
“Yup.” He smiles.
Andy and Caroline had remained…close oddly enough. Brandon was still with Molly, and Andy couldn’t quite figure out why. Although, it was giving him more time to sort out all of his feelings. He really didn’t want to be in a relationship just yet. He just wanted to have fun with his friends.
“I hope they’re not bored here.” Harry runs a hand through his hair.
“The corn-hole should keep them occupied, babe, don’t worry.”
“What are their names again?” Harry asks.
“Emma is the oldest, then Sophie and Charlotte.”
“Right, the twins.”
“I’m gonna go put the sign on the door to let people know they can just come to the back.” You say.
“I’ll tie the balloons to the mailbox!” Andy says and Harry sighs as he watches him go inside.
“What’s wrong?” You ask Harry as you walk up the stairs to the deck.
“Nothing…he’s just…twelve.” He pouts at you and you pout back.
“Please don’t cry.”
“I’m not.” He huffs. “He’s getting too old, I’m over this whole growing up thing.”
“But look at what a nice young man he’s growing into!” You put your hand on his shoulder. “Try to celebrate instead of dwell.”
“What are we, at a funeral?” He smirks.
You roll your eyes at him and go inside. The house was spick and span, thank god. This summer you’d be tackling renovating the kitchen since Andy would be at Paige’s. You were excited to do this with Harry. The new cabinets and granite were all ordered. You both just needed to do all the demo yourselves and then the contractors could come to do the rest.
“Mum and Noah are here!” Andy yells from outside, and you and Harry go out front to greet them.
“I…I promised myself I wouldn’t cry, but look at you, you’re twelve!” Paige blubbers and throws her arms around Andy.
“Mum, please.” He groans as he hugs her back.
“None of your friends are here yet, I get to do this now.” She kisses his cheek and lets him go. “Gram will be here soon with your aunt and uncle.”
“Happy birthday, Andy!” Rachel says brightly as she hops out of the car, giving him a hug.
All it took was for Paige and Harry to make eye contact and they both burst into tears. They side hug each other as they both look at Andy.
“He’s so grown up, and I swear he’s getting taller by the minute.” She says.
“It’s not fair, he was a baby just yesterday.”
“You two need to get a grip.” Andy says.
“Yeah.” Rachel agrees. “I’m getting second-hand embarrassment.”
The two giggle and start walking around back. You and Noah stand there awkwardly as Paige and Harry let each other go.
“Right, well, we, uh, brought some extra snacks, and all the gifts are in the trunk.” Noah says.
“I can help bring all that in.” You say. “What do you all typically do for Rachel’s birthdays?” You ask him as you lead him inside.
“Well, we usually go to Florida to visit with her grandparents. She loves it. Sort of a daddy-daughter thing.”
“Oh, that’s so nice!”
“Yeah, her birthday’s in October, so the weather is usually perfect.”
Friends and other family members start to show up. Andy was such a social butterfly. You could really tell that he was popular amongst his friend group. He was making everyone laugh. All of the yard games were a big hit, and Caroline’s older sisters even seemed to be having a good time. You were up on the deck sipping a drink when Harry came up from behind you to hug you.
“Having a good time, darling?” He says to you.
“Yes, thank you.” You chuckle. “Are you?”
“Mhm, I’m really glad the weather stayed so nice, I was nervous it would rain.” He kisses your cheek. “I’m gonna get the grill fired up.”
“Alright, do you want some help?”
“Maybe if you could just help me organize the food out here on the table? We could set it up buffet style.”
“On it.” You head inside as Harry turns the grill on.
Harry was feeling a lot of things today, his son was officially a preteen, and all sorts of things could start changing for him this summer. He could start to see pimples, or his voice may start getting lower, or pretty much anything else. Then there was you. Harry usually had to recruit another parent to help him with his parties for Andy, but he didn’t have to do that this time because he had you. You were on top of everything, and he was grateful. He was also just proud to show you off to so many people. For years everyone saw him as this single dad, but now they got to see him in a fully functioning relationship with a wonderful person.
“Okay, here’s all the burgers and dogs.”
“Y/N!” You whip your head and see your parents, Phil, and Julian.
“Oh good!” You say and head down the stairs of the deck to go greet them. “Did you get stuck in traffic?” You ask as you hug your family.
“Just a tad.” Phil says. “There was an accident on the other side, and you know how people love to rubber-neck.”
“Well, you’re here now, that’s all that matters. Feel free to go inside and freshen up, Harry’s just getting the grill started, but there are other snacks, and there’s drinks in the coolers.”
As you were talking Noah and Paige were playing a game of corn-hole with Ned and Allie.
“Oh, who’s that?” Noah points over to you.
“That must be her parents and brother, and his partner. How nice for them all to come!”
“Just don’t pounce on them Paige.” Allie tells her.
“What are you talking about? I’ll be friendly…”
“I’m not saying you won’t, just let her bring them over to introduce you, don’t go over to them first.”
You lead your family inside, after they all say hello to Harry. You wanted to give them a tour of the place you now called home. You explain your plans for the kitchen, and they all nod along.
“It’s a lovely home, honey.” Your mom says. “Very spacious, plenty of room to grow.”
“Yeah! The basement couch has a pull out in case we need to turn the guest room into a nursery at some point, and the loft could easily be converted into a bedroom too.”
“Slow down there, you just moved in.” You dad chuckles.
“I’m just saying, we’ve thought ahead.”
You lead everyone back outside, and down the stairs. Andy notices your family and smiles, he had no idea they were coming. He runs over to you.
“Andy, look who’s here.” You say to him.
“Hi!” He gives everyone a hug. “Thanks for coming to my party.”
“We wouldn’t miss it!” Your mom says. “You’re twelve today?”
“Yeah.” He smiles. “Would you like to meet my friends?”
“Sure.” Phil says.
Andy waves over Brandon and Caroline, and they both come jogging over.
“You guys, these are Y/N’s parents, um…”
“Rebecca and Richard.” Your dad says with a smile.
“Right, and this is her big brother Phil and his Julian.”
Phil and Julian smile at each other and say hello.
“These are my two best friends, Brandon and Caroline.”
Brandon felt bile in the back of his throat. Since when did Andy consider Caroline to be his other best friend?
“Hey, Andy, your friend Tyler…” Rachel had come over but she trails off.
“Rachel, these are my parents and my brothers.” You tell her.
“Hello!” She smiles brightly. “I’m Andy’s step-sister.”
“Well aren’t you just a precious little thing!” Your mom says.
“You’re Jewish like me, right?”
“Why yes we are.” Your dad says.
“When we went on our ski trip together, Y/N sat with me and helped with my alefbet.”
“She was pretty good at reading from the Torah as a kid.” Phil says. “I wasn’t so lucky.”
“You just never studied.” You tease him.
“Not all of us can be book worms, Y/N.” He sighs.
“My mum’s over there…” Andy points. “Do you all want to meet her?”
“That would be great.” Your dad says. You look back at Harry who was talking with Mr. Stewart as he grilled, and then you look over towards Paige.
“Yeah, let’s have everyone meet.” You say and lead them over. “Paige? I hate to interrupt the game…”
“Not at all!” She says with a smile. “Hello.” She says towards your family.
“These are my parents, Rebecca and Richard, my brother Phil, and his partner Julian.”
“It’s so nice to meet you all, I’m Andy’s mother, this is my fiancé, Noah, and my sister Allie and her husband Ned.”
Everyone shakes hands. The kids had run off to go play, so it was just the adults right now.
“We absolutely adore Andy.” Your mom tells Paige. “He’s a sweet boy.”
“Oh, thank you.” She smiles. “He raved about those paints you got him, he uses them all the time.” Out of the corner of her eye, Paige spots Lydia and waves her over. “This is my mother, Lydia. Mum, these are Y/N’s parents, and brothers.”
“Nice to meet all of you.” She smiles to the best of her ability and shakes their hands.
“Well, I need to go see what else Harry needs help with, so I’ll leave you grown-ups to chat.”
“We’ll help too.” Phil says. “I am a chef after all.” He tugs Julian along, full well knowing how nasty Lydia can be from what you’ve told them. Your parents could easily handle it. “She looks too nice to be a bitch.” Phil smirks.
“Trust me, she has her moments, although, she doesn’t make many comments too me anymore.” You smirk back.
All of the kids enjoy the freshly grilled food that they were ravenous for. After lunch was the balloon toss. Harry pairs up with Andy, just like last year, and you decide to participate with Phil.
“I swear, if you whip this thing at me…” He says as you’re still relatively close.
“Don’t be such a baby. It’s a trust exercise if anything.”
“Mhm, exactly.”
“I prank you with one whoopee cushion and-“
“You did that in front of my prom date!”
“Well, good thing you’re gay or else I’d be more concerned that I embarrassed you in front of her.”
Phil bursts out laughing as you continue to toss the balloon. He ends up dropping it at one point, which disqualifies you. Caroline and Rachel are out next, and then Tyler and Alexis. Brandon has paired up with his dad, and it was down to the four of them again. Mr. Stewart drops the balloon at the last second, which causes for Andy and Harry to be champs once again.
Once everyone settles a bit, it’s time for cake and gifts. Andy’s friends got him some good gift certificates and other little things.
“A new skateboard!” Andy beams. “Thanks, Noah.”
“You’re welcome, buddy.” Noah smiles proudly. Things were going really well recently between him and Andy. “That’s from my parents, they send their love.” Andy nods at him.
Next up you had passed him the gift your family brought him. You had no idea what it could be.
“Holy shhhh-cow.” Andy corrects himself as he tears the wrapping paper open. “A home pottery kit?!”
“Y/N mentioned to us how much you enjoy the clay in your art classes, and we found this for kids.” Your mom explains. “Do you like it?”
“I love it! Thank you so much.”
Lydia had gotten him some new ski equipment which he was grateful for. You give your family a thumbs up. The last gift was one from you, Harry, Paige, and Noah as it cost a pretty penny. It was just in an envelope. He opens it carefully, and his eyes widen, nearly welling up with tears.
“No way.” He looks at the four of you.
“What is it, Andy?” Brandon asks.
“Three tickets to the Ariana Grande concert and…a pass for a meet and greet.”
“Whoa!” Caroline exclaims. “That’s incredible!”
Andy stands up and gives everyone a hug, thanking you all profusely.
“Think this’ll hold you over until you get a phone next year?” Paige asks him.
“Definitely.”
He knew the three tickets implied that he could bring a friend with him, and the obvious choice was Caroline. Brandon didn’t mind Ari, but it was something that Andy and Caroline really bonded over. He could talk to her about it later.
The party was a huge success, and Andy was feeling super happy. It was nice for him to see so many people interacting.
“Well, we better get going since it’s getting late.” Paige says to him, giving him a big hug and kiss. “I’m so glad you had a good birthday, baby.”
“Me too, thanks again for everything, Mum.”
He says goodbye to Noah, Rachel, Allie, Ned, and Lydia as well. Then he takes his time saying goodbye to your family. Needless to say he was pooped by the time everyone left.
“When can I use the pottery kit?” He asks Harry as he cleans some things in the kitchen.
“I can set it up in the garage one of these weekends and you can go to town.”
“Alright!” Andy exclaims. “I’m gonna go to bed early I think, I’m tired, but thanks for everything today.”
“You’re welcome, but don’t just thank me.” He nods towards you and Andy gives you a hug.
“Thanks, Y/N.”
“You’re welcome, sweetheart.”
He lets you go and heads to his room. Once his door is closed Harry yanks you towards him and you giggle.
“Laugh all you want, but I’m going to ravage you tonight.”
“Oh?”
“Mhm.” He ghosts his lips along your jawline before kissing on your neck, sucking a little making you moan softly. “You were incredible today. Well, you’re incredible every day, but…everything just meant a lot to me.”
“I really feel like we’re a family, you know? I love it so much, more than I ever thought I would.”
Harry kisses you, a little more passionately than you were expecting, but it was still nice.
“Go on into the bedroom, I’ll be in after I finish with the dishes.”
“Nonsense, I can help.”
“Don’t be silly, I’ve got it.”
“Harry, I can help with the dishes.”
“I know you can, and you usually do, but you don’t have to worry about it right now. I want you to go in and wait for me.”
“Okay…” You turn away and stop short to look back at him. “I think I’m gonna run a bath…long day outside.”
“Put in that lavender bath bomb for me, would you?”
You smile and nod and head into your room’s en suite. Tonight was going to be a good night.
//
Harry slips into the tub, and you sit in front of him. He had checked on Andy before coming in, and the poor kid had all but passed out in his bed. You rest your head on Harry’s shoulder as you both relax.
“This was an excellent idea.” He sighs. “Feel like we don’t take advantage of the tub enough.”
“We don’t usually have time.”
“Well, with school over we will, especially during the day with Andy at school.”
“I’m gonna miss him when we send him off to Paige’s…”
“It’s a month away, babe. Plus, we’ll still see him plenty.”
“I know…”
“You’ll come camping again, yeah? He and Brandon are really looking forward to the annual trip.”
“Oh, definitely! And this time when we wake up all snuggled up it won’t be weird.”
“Can’t believe that was almost a year ago.” He kisses your temple. “Now we’re living together, it’s wild.”
“I’m really glad the school doesn’t care about colleagues dating, or we’d be in a real pickle.”
“Oh, I would have just secretly dated you.”
“Oh, really?” You turn slightly to look at him.
“Yeah, you’re talking to an unapologetic romantic here, a secret romance would be, like, right up my alley.”
“You’re an idiot.” You giggle and kiss his cheek. “Can you believe I only have one more year of doctoral work to do and then I’m done? I can’t wait for my work to be published.”
“I was thinking…the journal that publishes my works is always looking for younger people in the field, if you ever wanted to chat with them.”
“No, that’s your thing, babe, but thank you. Lisa has a few names of some people for me anyways.” You take his hand and kiss his soapy knuckles. “But, I will need your help soon. I need to start working on my defense presentation.”
“Who’s on your committee?”
“Lisa, Sandra, Dan and Alice from English, Patricia from Psychology, and Greg from Philosophy.”
“Good group.”
“Thanks, I thought it was pretty decent. And then obviously whoever else wants to come can. I just want the presentation to feel fun and eye-opening. You’re so good at captivating your audience, I wanna work on that.”
“You know I have horrible stage fright?”
“No way.”
“Way! I get all these nerves right before I need to give a lecture like that, but I accept the fear and use it to help me give a good performance.”
“Do you ever get nervous before teaching a class?”
“I’m always nervous on the first day, but once we get rolling and I can gauge how the kids will be I’m usually fine.”
“Same for me.”
“Well, I’m more than happy to help you, baby, you know that.”
“Thank you.”
His arms were wrapped around you stomach gently. One of his hands starts to drift lower, and between your legs, causing your breath to hitch.
“Alright?” He says into your ear.
“Mhm.” You say as you part your legs a little for him. His other hand come up to grope one of your breasts.
His fingers rub circles into your clit before slipping into your center. You groan and buck your hips forward by accident. His other hand comes up to your mouth.
“Gotta be quiet, baby.” He coos as his fingers pump in and out of you. You nod against him and removes his hand. “That’s my good girl.”
“Harry.” You whine softly. “Wanna ride you.”
“Okay.” You move to turn around but he stops you. “Should be able to just slip it in like this, yeah?”
“Let’s give it a try.”
You lift yourself up enough for him to line himself up with you and you sink down on him. He thrusts up into you and you gasp. He brings his fingers to your mouth for you to suck on and you reach back to do the same thing for him as you continue to fuck each other. His other hand stays rubbing your clit, and you feel yourself getting closer and closer. You start squeezing around him, tighter and tighter. You moan out around his fingers once you’ve gotten your release. Harry as to quickly lift you off him to come on your back.
“Jesus, shit.” He pants. “That was a close one.” He kisses your shoulder before pressing his forehead against it. He reaches for a washcloth to dip into the water to clean your back up. You hum your response as your eyes flutter closed.
“M’sleepy now.”
“Me too, love, come on.”
He helps you stand up and you both towel off and get ready for bed. Harry gives you kisses and smooches before you turn over so he can spoon you.
“Love you so much.” He sighs as his arm wraps around you.
“I love you too.” You adjust against him and sigh as well.
//
“Straight A’s again!” Andy says as he slaps his report card down on the table when he gets home from his last day of school. “Also not to brag, but Caroline and I won the three-legged race during field day, so I think ice cream is in order.”
“You didn’t partner up with Brandon?” Harry asks.
“Caroline got to me first.” Andy shrugs. “Please, Dad, can we get ice cream?
“Yeah, please, Dad.” You pout with Andy, and Harry sighs with a chuckle.
“Alright, we can get ice cream after dinner tonight.”
Y/N and Andy high five to celebrate.
“Andy, things are okay with you and Brandon, right?” Harry asks him.
“Yeah, they’re fine.”
“Did he ever, um, try to teach you anything again?” You ask, carefully.
“No.” Andy shakes his head. “We never really talked about it. He’s excited for the camping trip though.”
“Well, that’s good.” Harry says. “It’ll be a nice couple of days.”
After dinner you all go downtown to get ice cream at the local shop, and sit outside to enjoy your treats. You smirk to yourself as Andy bites into your sundae.
“You know, I’m pretty sure I joined you for this last year, but I recall you not being able to get topping because you texted me with your dad’s phone.”
“Oh, yeah!” Andy chuckles. “That was pretty good.”
“You’re a little too sly for your own good.” Harry says. “I could have gotten her to come with us on my own.”
“Yeah, but you were taking too long. Sometimes you have to take some initiative, Dad.” Andy smirks as Harry rolls his eyes.
“Eat your ice cream.”
You laugh at that, and gives Harry’s hand a squeeze.
“Either way it was nice to be included. Do you have big summer plans with Mum, Andy?”
“Yes and no. I mean, her wedding is next month, so that’ll take up some time, and then Rachel and I will come stay with you when they’re on their honeymoon. But I think in between all that Noah’s got some boat trips planned. I like fishing with him.”
“That’s right…they’ll be with us for my birthday…” You look at Harry. “I don’t know what my family has planned…”
“I was hoping to take everyone up to the cabin that week so it still felt like a little vacation.”
“Oh, that would be fun!”
“Your family could come up if they wanted.”
“I don’t wanna create more work.”
“You wouldn’t be, I think it would be fun.”
“Yeah! We can go on the jet skis.”
“You mean you can go on the jet skis. I’ll watch from the shore.” You laugh.
“It’s actually pretty fun.” Harry grins.
“I’ll take your word for it.”
//
Brandon slept over the night before the camping trip so you all could leave bright and early. Harry was taking you up a different 4,000 footer. You must have asked him a dozen times if there would be a bathroom there, and every time Harry said yes, so you believed him.
The boys were really excited. You could hear them up late talking about the view they’d have since Andy had hiked it before. Brandon seemed thrilled to be having some one on one time with Andy. As you started up the trail, you could tell they were having a good time by the sounds of their laughter.
“Doing alright so far?” Harry asks you. “Other than the couple of small hikes we went on last month, this is, like, your first big one of the season.”
“Oh, sure, I’m fine. I’ll probably be sore tomorrow. I’m just happy to be outside, you know?”
“Definitely. I hate seeing you all cooped up.”
“Can’t help it.”
“I like seeing you do your work out on the deck.”
“I love having an outdoor space to do it in, you have no idea.”
It was a very long hike, full of breaks, and look out points. You all weren’t in a rush, which always made things more fun. Once you’re at the summit you all drop your gear with relief. Tons of pictures are taken, and then you head off to find the bathroom while the boys set up the tents. It felt like an anniversary in a way. This when you sort of realized you might like Harry as more than a friend. You’ll never forget waking up with him like you did.
“You guys are speedy.” You say after coming back.
“I’d say we’re professionals at this point.” Andy says and it makes you laugh.
As the sun starts to set, you all get cozy around the fire. Harry had made a nice dinner, and now you were enjoying some s’mores. The boys say goodnight first, and then you and Harry clean up before heading into your own tent.
“Look at us, sleeping in a double wide sleeping bag.” You giggle as you cozy up to him.
“Should have just done this last year too. I think that really would have put out there how I was feeling.” He chuckles and kisses your hairline.
“At least it won’t be awkward when you wake up spooning me.”
“I never thought it was awkward.” He strokes your cheek with his thumb. “Especially not with how you looked up at me.”
“I wanted you to kiss me that morning.”
“I did too.” He pecks your lips.
“I love kissing you.”
“Love kissing you too, baby.”
While you and Harry were whispering sweet nothings to each other, Andy and Brandon were have their own conversation in their tent.
“So, your mom’s wedding is next month, are you excited?” Brandon asks Andy as they get settled into their sleeping bags.
“Yeah, I get to walk her down the aisle, so that’ll be cool.”
“Is your dad going?”
“Officially, yeah.” Andy sighs. “I think Y/N told him it would be good to go for the whole thing, and he agreed. Although, I think he said he plans on sitting all the way in the back.” Andy laughs. “I know it’s gotta be awkward for him.” Andy rolls over onto his side to look at Brandon easier, and Brandon does the same. “When do you, um, go to camp?”
“Last week of July through the first week of August…well, that’s when I usually go, I don’t know if I wanna go this year. I have another week to decide.”
“Why don’t you wanna go?”
“Because of Molly.” Brandon groans. “We broke up again.”
“You did?!”
“Yeah.”
“When?”
“Like…two days ago…”
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I figured I’d tell you this weekend, it’s not a big deal, but I don’t really feel like dealing with her for two weeks. I’m keep my fingers crossed that we won’t have the same schedule next year.”
“So, you don’t think you’re immediately going to get back together with her when school starts?” Andy laughs.
“Nope.” Brandon smiles. “I’m over her.”
“Cool…” Andy blushes. “Well, if you don’t end up going to camp, um, my mum said I could invite a few friends to her wedding.”
“Oh, yeah?” Brandon raises an eyebrow at him. “Who else are you going to invite?”
“Probably Caroline and Tyler.”
“Andy…if you still like her so much, why did you break up?”
“I like being friends with her, I don’t know. I don’t think I was ready for all that…dating someone…maybe when I’m older.”
“There were a few rumors going around that you liked someone more than her.” Andy’s eyes widen at Brandon. “Is that true?”
“Yeah.” Andy swallows. “Yeah, there’s someone I like more than her, but I’m still not really ready to date so I’ve been keeping it to myself.”
“Who, um, who is it?”
“I can’t tell you.”
“Why?” Brandon frowns. “You’re my best friend, Andy…I’d tell you if I liked someone.”
“Would you?” Andy sits up and looks the other way. Brandon sits up as well.
“Yeah, why wouldn’t I?”
“Can I ask you something first?”
“Okay.”
“If…if Tyler had been nervous about kissing Alexis…would you have offered to show him how like you did with me?”
Brandon’s face flushes. He was thankful that it was dark in the tent.
“Well, he’s not even with her, so it doesn’t matter does it?”
“Yes it does. Would you have done that with anyone?”
“No.”
“Why not?”
“Because you’re my best friend.” Brandon takes a deep breath. “You have been for as long as I can remember, Andy. I mean…the day you told me that you weren’t going back to your mom’s for the school year was, like, more exciting than any present I’ve ever gotten. Getting to start middle school with you was like a dream come true. Ty’s great and all, but he’s not my best friend.”
“So…that’s all it was then? Because I’m your best friend and you just wanted to help?”
“Yeah.”
Andy nods and lays back down. Brandon does the same. They both lay on their backs.
“You’re gonna tell me who else you like, are you?”
“No.” Andy looks at Brandon slightly. “Not yet anyways.”
“If I don’t go to camp I’ll come to the wedding.” He looks at Andy. “Just don’t dance with Caroline the entire time.” He smirks.
“I won’t.”
Andy rolls over to his other side, facing away from Brandon. He blinks a couple of tears away. How could he tell Brandon he liked him when Brandon was telling him he was just a friend? He didn’t want to do anything to ruin their friendship. He also knew he just wasn’t ready for kissing or things like that, so he wasn’t going to say anything until he knew he was really ready.
//
The next morning you wake up in Harry’s arms, like always, and give his cheek a kiss before sitting up to stretch.
“Sleep alright, baby?” He yawns.
“Mhm, did you?”
“Yup.” He smiles and you smile back at him. This weekend felt like an anniversary to him too. Your actual one was coming up soon.
You both get up and use the bathroom, and see that the boys are already up and ready to go. They seemed to be tired.
“You both sleep alright?” You ask as you start your journey back down the mountain.
“Mhm.” Brandon yawns. “Just tired, it’s early.”
“I’m so glad school’s over so we can just sleep in.” Andy says.
“I know the feeling.” You say. “Although, your dad makes it impossible sometimes.”
“Well excuse me for trying to stick to a routine.” Harry scoffs. “I do my best to stay quiet.”
“Mm, sure, Jan.” You say and it makes him laugh.
“Is that something Auntie Janette would say?” Andy asks.
“No, it’s from The Brady Bunch.” Harry says. “You know that old show, we’ve watched it a couple of times. Jan can’t stand her older sister Marsha, and Marsha always catches Jan in a lie. It’s pretty funny.”
“It’s, like, a catchphrase, right, Mr. Styles?” Brandon asks.
“Exactly.”
It’s a smooth trek down the mountain. You all take your time just as you did going up, and eventually you get back to the car. Harry drops Brandon off at his house, and Andy walks him up to his door.
“Well, thanks for another great trip.” Brandon say.
“Sure, I’m glad you came.”
“When do you go to your mom’s?”
“In a few days…”
“Okay, maybe we can hang out before you go?”
“Definitely.” The boys hug and then Brandon goes inside. Andy sighs heavily when he gets in the car. You and Harry look at each other before he drives off towards the house.
“Andy, when you come back later this summer the kitchen’s gonna have an all new look, are you excited?” You say, trying to break the tension.
“Yeah! You better send me pictures along the way.”
“We will.” Harry says. “We’ll need your expert input I’m sure.”
//
Doing demo in the kitchen was a liberating experience. Knocking out the old cabinets with Harry was more fun than you thought it would be. Then again, how could it not be a good time watch him use a sledgehammer?
“I say we’ve earned ourselves a couple of drinks.” He says as he gets a couple of beers out of the fridge. “I know beer’s not your favorite, but-“
“It’s fine.” You take it. “Let’s go sit outside, it’s all dusty in here.”
He agrees, and you both head out to the deck.
“I’m glad we rented that dumpster, clean up shouldn’t be too difficult.” Harry says as he cracks his beer open. “Especially with how much we already did.”
“I know! We got so much done today. I can’t wait to see what the new stain on the floor will look like.”
“I was talking to the floor guy about that, he said since he’s refinishing it as well we won’t be able to walk on it properly for a few days. I was thinking we could go up to the cabin while it’s getting done. We both can still work without a ton of fumes.”
“Good idea. I certainly wouldn’t mind the view of the lake for a few days.”
“Cabinets should be installed by the wedding.” He says as he takes a sip.
“You’re sure you’re okay to go? I don’t want to force you…”
“No, I know I need to be there. I wanna see Andy walk her down the aisle and all that. Besides, my suit is gorgeous, I can’t let it go to waste.” He scoffs and it makes you laugh.
“Just making sure.” You reach for his hand and give it a squeeze. “Ugh, I need a long, hot shower. I feel gross.”
“Same here. Feel like sharing?”
“No, I’m on my period.” You pout. “Just need a little alone time.”
“Fine.” He sighs. “Go do your thing.”
“Thanks, babe.” You get up and kiss the top of his head before going inside.
Harry knew you were going to take a shower by yourself, but he wanted to play it cool. He had ordered pizza and made sure to get your favorite wine, but had to hide it from you. He cleans himself off quickly in the other bathroom, and gets everything set up outside. He lights a few candles. Satisfied with his work, he waits for you.
“I’m all done, thanks for…” You walk outside in an oversized shirt and pajama pants. “What is all this?”
“Our anniversary dinner.” He smiles and wraps his arms around you. “It was a year ago today that you came here with this exact meal and we kissed for the for the first time.”
“Oh my goodness, Harry.” You kiss him and wrap your arms around his neck. “This is so sweet, I…I thought we were celebrating in a couple of days though, I-“
“That’s what I told you so I could surprise you. Normally I’d cook, but the kitchen isn’t functioning at the moment.”
“I love you so much.”
“I love you too.”
You both kiss again, and you decide to sit on his lap as you ate and drank. You just really wanted to be as close as possible right now. He didn’t mind one bit, he liked when you’d cling to him a little more.
“The candles were a nice touch, very romantic, Har.” You sit back against his chest and he wraps his arms around your stomach.
“I’m glad you like it.”
“I love it! I’m not super into overdone surprises, so this is literally perfect.”
“You really do like keeping things simple, huh?”
“Mhm, I mean, the gesture is always appreciated, I just don’t like people making such a big fuss over me, you know?” Harry hums his response and moves some of your hair so he can kiss on the back of your neck.
“But you’re worth making a fuss over.” He mumbles as his lips move up your neck. “How heavy is your flow, baby?”
“Should be minimal since I just showered.” You bite your bottom lip. “Do you really feel like it?”
“Yeah, we can just put a towel down like we’ve done before.”
“Okay.” You smile as he nibbles on your earlobe.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.” You giggle and get off him. You bring the pizza and leftover wine inside before going into the bedroom.
Harry puts a couple of towels down while you go into the bathroom. You come out and quickly walk over to the bed to lay down. Harry rolls a condom on, and puts some extra lube on it so he doesn’t hurt you.
“All set?” He says to you as he knees onto the bed.
“Mhm.” You smile.
His lips slot over yours and his hands knead your breasts. He pushes inside you and you gasp into his mouth.
“Lube was a little cold.” You giggle.
“Sorry, baby, is it better now?” He asks as he rocks in and out of you.
“Yes.”
He squishes his nose to yours, and you wrap your legs around his waist. He comes closer so you’re chest to chest. You lick into his mouth and he groans against you. You feel tears start to form in your eyes and you start laughing.
“You haven’t even come yet, why are you crying?” He laughs as he uses his thumbs to wipe the small droplets away.
“I’m just really happy we’re together.”
“Me too, darling.” He kisses your forehead.
“I’m also hormonal.”
“Mhm, sure, blame it on that if you want.” He smirks and continues thrusting in and out of you.
“Fuck, that feels good.” Your nails rake down his back and he groans into your ear. Your nails dig into his ass as he fucks you harder. “Just like that, Harry, don’t stop.” You moan.
He bites down on your neck, and you whimper. It always felt so fucking good when he would do that, and with you not having to work and Andy being at Paige’s, Harry was free to litter you with marks. Well, within reason. He’d save the really nasty bruises for your inner thighs.
You cry out as you come undone, and Harry fills up the condom not too long after. You both get cleaned up and you grab the bottle of wine as you get settled for a movie in bed. You each take turns swigging from it. You were sitting in front of Harry, all cozy.
“I’ll need to work on my paper tomorrow.” You tell him. “Taking a couple of days off for demo was good to clear my head, but I need to get back at it.”
“That’s fine, I have some work I need to do for my manuscript. Are you planning to go to the CMT conference again this summer?”
“Can’t.” You take another swig from the bottle and look up at him. “It’s in California this year, and it’s right before the fall semester.”
“So?”
“So…that’s time I would need to prep for my classes. I’d be gone for about a week with the traveling.”
“Do you want to go?”
“Well…yeah, there’s going to be some really good speakers this year.”
“Then you should go.” He smiles. “I’d go too, but I need to be around for Andy once August hits.”
“You’d really be okay with me being gone an entire week across the country?”
“Baby, no one loves a lecture more than you, I don’t want you to not go because of me.” He kisses your hairline.
“I’d literally be getting back the day of our first faculty meeting. I looked into it already. I’d have to go from the airport to the school.”
“You’re always hours early for the faculty meeting…”
“Yeah, because I like getting my office in order.” You scoff. “Is there a reason you want me to go?”
“No.” He shrugs. “I just think it’s rare when we don’t have to cancel class to go to a conference, and the school will pay for you to go.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, you can apply for a scholarship, I can show you. Then it would just be the air fare which isn’t that expensive out there this time of year.”
“I suppose that’s true…if I can get the school to pay for it then I’ll definitely go.”
“Good.” He smiles.
//
A few days away at the cabin were just what the doctor ordered. It felt weird not having Andy around, but you honestly weren’t upset at having a break from parenting. You texted with him here and there, just to check in and let him know you were thinking of him, as did Harry. You really cherished the time you and Harry could just be you and Harry. He got you to go on a jet ski with him, and even though you screamed the entire time, it was still fun. It was the perfect getaway home, and when you got back to your actual home your new kitchen floors looked stunning. The cabinet people came in a couple of days later, and you made sure to send Andy all of the pictures. July was flying by.
“Okay, so, for your birthday, we’ll go to the cabin and bring the kids, and your parents and brothers will meet us up there for a couple of nights as well?” Harry says as he looks over his planner.
“Yes.” You chuckle.
“What?”
“You just look so serious. I feel like I’m having an appointment with you at your office.” You clear your throat. “You wanted to see me, Dr. Styles.” You pout at him and he swallows hard.
“That’s not funny.” He puts his pen down and takes his glasses off to look at you. “I could get in a big heap of trouble if a student came onto me like that.”
“Did it ever used to work on you when you were younger?”
“No.” He scoffs. “Although the girls, and some boys, would try, I have to give them credit. I’d get offers from them to babysit Andy just because they wanted to know how I lived and all that. It was more difficult when I was closer in age, now I don’t even give it a second glance. They know not to flirt with me anyways because my girlfriend would probably step in and pummel ‘em.” He grins at you.
“Got that right.” You smirk. “Although, you’re the jealous one, not me.”
“I would strangle any kid at that school if I saw them trying to make a move on you, no doubt about that.” You burst out laughing and put your hand over his to give it a squeeze.
“Okay, okay…are you ready for tomorrow?”
“Am I ready to see my son all dressed up? Yes. I hope he’s been behaving at the rehearsal dinner.” Harry looks at his watch. “Should be over soon.” He chews on his inner cheek. “Y/N…someday…when we, you know, get married…” A smile grows on your face. “I don’t think I’d want to invite them.”
“Wow, really? I’m…shocked…”
“At a petty level, I truthfully just don’t think she deserves to see me so happy, and I feel like she’s rubbing how happy she is in my face. She’s always been like, just, painfully oblivious.” He rests his chin on her palm. “I know it would hurt her, but I wouldn’t want her there.”
“Okay.” You get up and sit in his lap.
“Okay?”
“Yeah, I don’t need your ex at our wedding.” You laugh. “Maybe it’s different for her since she’s the one that called it quits. I know you’re over her, but I can understand how all this might still hurt.”
“It brings up a lot of things, yeah.” He looks up at you and smiles. “But I’m really happy with how everything worked out. I’m happy I’m with you.” He gives your shoulder a squeeze. “You-you’ve become like a second mum to Andy and…I feel like for so long I was just living my life on auto, just doing the same thing every day, but now…I have more of a purpose again.”
“Harry.” You coo and stroke his cheek. “You’ve changed my life for the better too.”
//
You were able to get your hair in a cute low bun, with some curls left out. You bought a light blue semi-formal dress to wear to pair with Harry’s suit. He was just getting his contacts in as you were slipping on your heels.
“Be honest, how do I look?” He says to you.
“Like I don’t wanna let you leave this house.” You bite your bottom lip.
“Excellent, just what I was going for.” He rubs his hands up and down your arms. “You look stunning, baby.”
“Thank you.”
“Ready to go meet her entire family and Noah’s?”
“Is everyone really going to fit in her backyard?”
“The ceremony is in the back yard, the reception is in a tent on the beach.”
“Oh…fancy.”
“Nothing but the best for her.” Harry rolls his eyes. “Got the gift?”
“In the car already.”
Harry nods and you both head out.
Andy looked handsome. His hair was perfect, and he essentially never looked more like his father. It was the tan he had from being out so much. He wouldn’t be able to see his friends before the ceremony since he needed to stay in close proximity with Paige. They were able to take all of the bridal party photos beforehand. Same with the groom’s party.
There were a ton of chairs set up, and people were finding their seats. You and Harry sit in the last row of seats on the bride’s side. He puts a pair of sunglasses on. The last thing he wanted to do was be recognized and exchange pleasantries with Paige’s extended family.
“I have some tissue in my purse if you need some.” You say to him. “I don’t know about you, but I always cry at weddings.”
“So do I, thanks.” He holds his hand out for the tissues and you give him a couple. He puts his arm around you and kisses your temple.
“Think there will be an open bar?”
“Oh, for sure.” He scoffs. “We’ll be drinking well tonight.”
“Hi, Mr. Styles.” Brandon and Tyler come up to you and Harry. “Can we sit with you? We don’t really know anyone else.”
“Sure!” Harry says.
“Yeah, plenty of room.” You say. “Where’s Caroline?”
“Why should I know?” Brandon says as he sits down next to you.
“Because you’re all friends, duh.” You say to him.
“She’s in the bathroom.” Tyler says. “She’ll be here in a second.”
Caroline eventually joins everyone, but she’s a little fidgety.
“What took you so long?” Brandon asks her.
“There was, um, a line.” She says.
More and more take their seats, and music starts up. Everyone looks forward as Rachel walks up with Noah and the rest of the groomsmen. She looked lovely. Noah gives her a hug and kiss before she gets in line with the rest of the party. A couple of Paige’s younger cousins act as the flower girls. Allie and Ned walk Lydia down the aisle, and then come the bridesmaids. Harry knew them all well. Friends from college, and friends from work. Some of their eyes widen when they notice Harry, but they keep walking. Everyone stands up when Paige’s bridal music starts. You get your phone ready to snap a few shots of Andy.
“Oh my god, look at him.” Harry whispers proudly. He lifts his sunglasses to see him better. Andy waves to his father.
Paige and Harry briefly make eye contact. They nod at each other as Andy continues to walk her down the aisle.
“He’s a spitting image.” You whisper to Harry, and he smiles at you.
The ceremony is quick, there’s some Hebrew from a rabbi, and Noah steps on the glass. Everyone’s told where to go for cocktail hour, and they start making their way.
“Dad!” Andy shouts to get his attention. “Mum wants a family picture.”
“What?!”
“Yeah, like, with all of us, come on.” He tugs on Harry’s jacket sleeve, and Harry looks back at you panicked. You follow them to the spot where the photos are being taken.
“Hey you two!” Paige beams. “Of course your suit is amazing, shouldn’t have doubted it for a second.” She says to Harry. “And you look lovely, Y/N.”
“Um, thank you. Congratulations.” You say to her.
“Thank you.” She giggles. “I’m a missus!  Can’t believe it. Anyways, I thought it would be nice if we took a blended family photo.” Harry just nods and follows her. “Okay, so I was thinking I could stand in the middle, Rachel on one side, and Andy on the other, like, in front, and then Noah on one side and you on the other, and Y/N next to you.”
“Wait, you want me in the photo?” You ask.
“Of course! You’re family now, have been for a while.”
Harry snakes his arm around your waist and pulls you close to him, and uses his other hand to put on Andy’s shoulder. They take a few photos like that as everyone else stands to the side watching.
“Okay, well, we’re going to the cocktail hour, thanks for including us in your very special day.” Harry says with just an ounce of sarcasm and an ironic grin, and tugs you along.
“Alright, I can see what you mean now, painfully oblivious.”
“Jesus, thank you! Was that awkward or was that awkward?”
“Nope, very awkward. Come on, let’s go drink.”
The tent on the beach was exquisite. There was an open bar, a DJ, and waiters walking around with appetizers. You and harry go right up to the bar for cocktails before finding what table you’ve been put at.
“Harry!” A woman squeals and lunges onto him, making him almost spill his drink. “God, it’s been years!”
“Sarah!” Harry hugs her back. “I know, how are you?”
“I’m doing well.” She steps back from him. “You haven’t aged a day.”
“My hair would beg to differ.” He runs a hand through it.
“Oh, please, you look distinguished.” She smiles and looks at you. “And who’s this?”
“Oh! Sorry, um, Sarah this is my girlfriend, Y/N. Y/N, Sarah and I went to uni together with Paige.”
“Hi, it’s nice to meet you.” You shake her hand.
“Same to you. My hubby, Joe, is just getting us some drinks. Seems like we’ve been put at the same table. I wonder if we all were.”
“All?” Harry asks.
“Sure! Jane and her wife are her, and so is Greg, he came stag…” She leans into Harry. “Divorced recently.” She whispers. “Oh! And Lauren’s here too. Basically the reject list for the wedding party.” She laughs.
Harry didn’t think Paige was still this close with all of their old college buddies. It would be like a mini-reunion, and he wasn’t sure how he felt about it. He almost wished he was put at the kids table with Andy and his friends.
“I’m shocked to see you here, I mean I’m happy to see you and all, but-“
“Well, as you saw, our son walked her down the aisle and she really didn’t want me to miss it, so here I am.”
Slowly everyone else makes their way over to the table. Harry introduces you to everyone. The last one to make their way is Lauren.
“Harry Styles.” She smiles and he turns to look at her.
“Hey.” He smiles back and hugs her. “Um, this is my girlfriend, Y/N.” He hooks his arm around your waist and pulls you close to his side as you shake your hand.
“You’re a very lucky woman, Y/N. Harry’s the best.” She says.
“Yeah, he is.” You say.
You all take your seats as the wedding party makes their way into the tent. Harry keeps his hand on your thigh the entire time. Harry could see on Paige’s face that she was desperately trying to keep it together. She missed her father. Everyone stands up and crowds around the dancefloor as Noah takes Rachel’s hand for a father-daughter dance.
“She is too cute.” You say to Harry.
“I know it, absolutely precious.” He agrees and takes a sip of his drink.
Next up is a mother-son dance for Andy and Paige. You watch as the smile grows on Harry’s face. He was proud of Andy for being such a good sport, and he could see that Andy was having fun. You take your phone out to take a video of the dance so Andy could see it later. Noah has a dance with his mother, and then Paige has a dance with Lydia.
“I’m shocked.” Harry says to you. “Lydia’s so traditional.”
“I’m glad to see her doing something nice for Paige.”
Once all of that is out of the way, everyone takes their seats again for the first course. Just a Caesar salad and some bread. You listen as Harry and his friends reminisce. You wonder, briefly, what his deal with Lauren is. She seemed to be the most sentimental. She was sitting next to you and you could feel her eyes burning into you.
“So, how long have you and Harry been together for?” She asks you.
“A year.” You smile. “But we were friends a year prior to us getting together.”
“Oh, do you work with him at the university?”
“Yes, we met because I ended up being his office neighbor. I guess that’s why we became such good friends too.”
“You know what solidified us being friends?” He leans over you, joining the conversation. “That first game night you came to. We were playing charades remember?”
“How could I forget?” You smile and kiss his cheek. He goes back to the other conversation he was having with his friend Greg. “How did you and Harry meet?” You ask Lauren.
“At a party.” She shrugs. “I was a year ahead of him, same with Paige. I think Greggy brought him out, they were roommates their sophomore year. He fit right in with our group. He immediately had a crush on Paige, everyone could see it.” She laughs and your mouth forms into a straight line. “Don’t worry, all of that was a long time ago.”
“Yeah.” You finish your drink and tap Harry’s shoulder. “I’m going to get another one.”
“Do you want me to get it?”
“No, I need to stretch my legs.” You stand up and walk towards the bar. Harry looks at Lauren.
“What?” She asks him.
“Did you say something to her?”
“About what?” He gives her an obvious look. “No, why would I mention that?”
“Because you’re you.” He smirks.
“All I said was that it was obvious that you had a crush on Paige from the first time Greg brought you out, nothing about you and I.”
“Maybe don’t mention how much I used to like my ex?”
“She asked me how you and I met, it was just part of the story. Lighten up, H.”
“Here, I got you another one too.” You say as you sit back down.
“Thanks, babe.”
The main course is served, and toasts start being made. Allie gives a small toast, but tears up. Noah’s best man lightens the mood with some funny jokes. Andy and Rachel even give a toast, a poem they worked on together. Harry had to dab his eyes with your tissues to wipe a few tears away.
“I’m just so proud of him. He looks so grown up.” He pouts at you.
“I know.” You smile. “It’s okay.”
Noah and Paige thank everyone for coming, and then most people make their way to the dancefloor. Andy comes racing overo to your table and throws his arms around Harry.
“How was it?” He asks.
“You did amazing, buddy.”
“Y/N, will you come dance?”
“Sure, let me just kick these heels off.” You giggle and get up. Andy takes your hand and leads you to the dancefloor.
Harry watches as you twirl Andy around and just be silly with him. It warmed his heart.
“I’m gonna go join them.” He takes his suit jacket off. “Hope you all will dance too.”
“Need about three more drinks.” Sarah says. “But feel free to warm it up for us out there.”
Harry laughs and heads over to you. His dance moves make Andy laugh hysterically. The wedding photographer comes over and takes a picture of the three of you. After a few songs, Andy says he’s gonna go dance with his friends, and enjoy some cake.
“Are you having a good time?” Harry asks as you both make your way to the bar again.
“Mhm, are you?”
“It’s not too bad. I’m really glad you’re here.” He gives your hand a squeeze. “This’ll probably be my last one, I don’t wanna get so fucked up that I can’t drive us home.”
“I can cool it if you wanna keep drinking.”
“No, it’s okay. I also don’t want Andy seeing me sloshed, you know?”
“Oh, true. Let’s nurse these ones then, yeah?”
“Harry!” Paige comes over to you both. “Would you come take another picture with all our college friends?”
“Um, sure.” Harry hands you his drink and you follow to where the photo is being taken. He stands as far away from Paige as he can, and flashes that toothy smile of his.
“Not that I don’t love Noah, but seeing Harry tonight…makes me sad that Paige couldn’t work it out with him.” You overhear a woman say to another. You try not to make it obvious that you’re listening.
“I know! How could you not make it work with a man like that? Must be his personality, good dick can only make you happy for so long.”
Your mouth falls open in shock. You turn to the women and grimace. Before you have a chance to say anything Harry’s coming back over to you, snatching his drink and tugging you back to the dancefloor. You shake what you heard from your head as you look at him. Harry had a wonderful personality, and if those bitched were too dumb to see that, then fuck them. It was fun to dance with Harry like this, just goofy and without a care.
Andy was having a good time dancing as a group with his friends. A slow song comes on to give everyone a break from the fast paced music. He looks over and sees you and Harry coming together for a dance and he smiles.
“Now this is my favorite kind of dancing.” Harry says into your ear.
“Really? So when we went to that club up north and I backed my thang up against you...?” You raise an eyebrow at him.
“Okay, this is my second favorite kind of dancing.” You both giggle. “That was a great night, I have to say.”
“Mhm.” You smile and kiss him quickly before resting your head on his shoulder as he leads you.
“Andy, wanna dance?” Caroline asks him shyly.
“Yeah.” He smiles and puts his hands on her waist.
“You look really handsome.”
“Thanks.” He blushes. “I like your dress. You know you always look pretty.”
She smiles at him.
“I’m glad we’re still good friends.” She says as they sway back and forth.
“Me too.”
“During the next slow song you should ask Brandon to dance.”
“What?”
“It’s like you’re always saying, rip the band aid.” She grins at him.
“Caroline, I…”
“Look, I’m not trying to assume anything, but if I had to guess who it was you liked I’d say it’s him, and I think he likes you too, but you both are just being stupid by not going for it.”
“You really think he likes me back?” It was the first time he had admitted his feels to a friend.
“I think so, I think he’s just nervous.” She shrugs.
“This whole thing has been really confusing. You were the first girl I ever really liked, and I like him too, so…”
“My oldest sister deals with the same thing.”
“She does?!”
“Yeah! She came out to us earlier this year, she said she’s bi.”
“And your parents were cool with it?”
“Sure, they were just happy she felt comfortable enough to say how she was feeling.”
“Wow.”
“See? It’s way more common than you think.” The song ends and they let go of each other. “And, just for the record, you were the first boy I ever really liked too, and I’m happy I get to say Andy Styles was my first boyfriend.” She kisses his cheek and he smiles. “I have to use the ladies room, I’ll be back.”
“What was that about?” Brandon asks Andy as he and Tyler step closer.
“Nothing.” He shrugs.
“Are you back together?”
“No, she just kissed my cheek, uh, thanking me for the dance. It’s no big deal, B.”
Brandon nods and they all start dancing again. You and Harry sit for a bit to rest your feet, and to munch on some bread. You notice that Lauren and Greg have been pretty chatty.
“Think anything’s going to happen between those two?” You nod over to them.
“Wouldn’t put it past her.” Harry scoffs. “I bet she was hoping I wouldn’t be here with someone.” Alright, so he was a little drunk, and that statement just slipped.
“Why’s that?”
“Hm? Oh, I don’t know.” He shakes his head and you narrow your eyes at him. “What?”
“Harry if you used to hook up with her you can just say so, it was, like, fifteen years ago…”
“You make me sound so old.” He pouts. “Alright, yeah, we used to hook up, but it wasn’t serious, and we kept it quiet, not wanting to disrupt our circle of friends. She’s just one of those people that you think is really sweet and wholesome, and then she’s not. I didn’t like it.” He stands back up and puts his hand out to you. “Come on, let’s go dance some more.”
“Okay.” You take his hand and go back out to the dancefloor. Another slow starts and you happily wrap your arms around Harry’s neck. “I take back what I said earlier, this really is the best kind of dancing.”
He smiles at you and then leans in for a kiss. Your lips press together and then you both sigh as you dance. Andy takes a deep breath and goes over to Brandon who was sitting down, drinking some water. Tyler and Caroline had been picked up to go home already. Brandon’s parents wouldn’t be there to pick him up until a little later.
“Hey.” Andy says to him.
“Hey, my parents are on their way.”
“Oh…so you don’t wanna dance?” He rubs the back of his neck.
“To this song?” Brandon stands up and puts his hands in his pockets. “A little slow, don’t you think?”
“I’m okay with the tempo.”
“There’s a lot of people around…”
“We could go outside, I’m gonna walk you out anyways.”
“Okay.”
Andy and Brandon go outside the tent. There were a few people out there having smoke breaks and just a breather from dancing. They go to the side where things are a little more secluded.
“How…how should we do this?” Andy asks.
“We could just hug and sway back and forth.”
“Yeah, that makes sense.” The boys hug and start swaying back and forth. Andy’s heart was racing like never before. “I’m really glad you didn’t go to camp this summer.” Andy says and they stop to look at each other.
“You are?”
“Yeah.” He smiles at his friend.
Brandon daintily cups one of Andy’s cheeks, and Andy closes his eyes. Just as Brandon leans in his phone goes off. He sighs and presses his forehead to Andy’s for a moment before getting his phone out of his pocket and letting Andy go.
“Hello?” He says obviously annoyed. “Yeah, I’m ready, are you here? Okay…I’m down at the tent, I’ll wait outside for you.” He hangs up. “My dad’s, uh, gonna come get me out here, so…”
“Right.” Andy nods. “How long do you think he’ll be?”
“He said five minutes.”
“Alright, well, I’ll wait out here with you.”
“Thanks.” The boys walk close to the entrance of the tent to wait for Brandon’s dad.
“Brandon?”
“Yeah?”
“Were you going to kiss me?”
“Yeah, I was.” Andy’s face flushes as he looks at his friend. “Got sort of interrupted.” He runs a hand through his hair. “Maybe another time, though?”
Andy smiles at him and nods yes. Mr. Stewart comes to the tent and the boys say goodbye. Andy goes back inside and heads to the dancefloor with you and Harry.
“There you are!” You exclaim. “They’re gonna do the cha cha slide.”
“Great!” The song starts and Harry watches a ton of you follow along with the steps of the song. “Come on, Dad!”
“Fine!” Harry jumps in and follows along as well.
It ended up being a great night despite some of the awkwardness. You get your shoes on, but they sting. You contemplate just walking out barefoot, but you could easily step on broken glass outside, so you decide against it.
“All set?” Harry says to you. “Just confirmed with Paige. The kids will get dropped off in a couple of days, and then we’re headed to the cabin.”
“Perfect. It’s gonna be a great week away.”
You both say goodnight to Andy, who was about ready to pass out from all the dancing he did. Him and Rachel head up to the house.
“So, how were things with Brandon?” She asks him.
“Good…we danced together outside the tent.”
“Oh, how was that?!” She squeals.
“Shh, do you want the neighbors to hear? It was fine.” He smiles. “Just fine.”
Harry gets the two of you home, and you give him a devious grin as you get inside. He raises his eyebrows at you as if to ask if you’re not too tired, but you wink and start walking towards the bedroom.
“Feeling a little frisky, eh?” He asks as he takes his suit jacket off.
“Mhm, you looked so sexy tonight, and watching you dance really did it for me.”
“Oh, yeah?” He pulls you close to him.
“Yeah.”
You press your lips to his, and swipe your tongue along his bottom lip. He opens up for you and your tongue molds to his. He reaches behind you to unzip your dress, and it falls to the floor, pooling at your feet. Your hands work to unbutton his dress-shirt, and you push it off his shoulders. Next you get his pants undone and he leads you over to the bed. He shimmies out of his trousers and gets on the bed with you. You get between his legs and tug his boxers down. You kiss his tip and he hisses from the sensation. You lick up and down his shaft before wrapping your lips around him. You bob up and down slowly and look up at him.
“That’s so good, baby.” You raise your eyebrows at him while your tongue runs over his slit. “You’re a good girl, Y/N.”
Your eyes flutter closed, and you continue to suck on him how he likes, drool dripping down your chin. You don’t suck on him for too much longer since you want him to fuck you. You crawl up his body and grind your covered center over him. He unhooks your bra and kisses on your chest. He rolls ones of your nipples between his teeth and your head falls back.
“I need to get these off.” You grunt and get your panties off. You grab his length and line it up with yourself. “Okay?”
“Yeah, I’ll just pull out.”
You nod and sink down him. Your mouth falls open as he stretches every inch of you. You grip his shoulders and move yourself up and down.
“You got this wet just from sucking on me?” He grunts as he grips your hips to help move you back and forth.
“Can’t help it when I’m doing that and you call me a good girl, Harry.” You peck his lips. “It’s so hot.” You move to suck on his neck, and he presses you as close to him as possible.
You move in sync with each other, and you grind against him in the perfect way. You start breathing heavier as you feel yourself getting closer. You breathlessly tell him to keep going. You tighten around him as you come undone around his hard dick.
“Shit, fuck, Y/N!”
“Oof!”
He had to toss you off of him so he wouldn’t come inside you, leaving quite the mess on his lower stomach and thighs.
“Sorry, are you alright?”
“Yeah.” You giggle and prop yourself up on your elbows. “Are you? Normally you can hold it a little longer.”
“Not when you tighten up like that, Jesus…” He sighs and looks down at himself.
“I’ll go get a rag.” You get off the bed and go into the bathroom to grab a washcloth and run it under some warm water.
You come back and clean him up. He smiles up at you and you lean down to kiss him.
“We need to be more careful.” He says as you get into bed with him. “Just suck it up and use the condom, you know?”
“I know.” You sigh. “It just feels so good.” You pout at him.
“I know, darling, but you said you didn’t want to get pregnant until you have your doctorate. I’d feel terrible if it happened, and you got really stressed out…”
“Harry, if it happens it happens. It would be stressful, but plenty of women do it all the time. Now’s not the most ideal time, but I can’t tell you how excited I get when I think of carrying your baby sometimes.” You bite your bottom lip as you look at him.
“Don’t even fucking tempt me, Y/N, you know I’d put one in you now if you really wanted it.”
“I know, I’m sorry.” You kiss him quickly before turning over. “Soon, I promise.”
//
A week with Andy and Rachel at the cabin was interesting to say the least. Watching their dynamic was fascinating. They really did act like brother and sister. They’d bicker one minute and be laughing the next. He showed her how to use the jet skis, and they built sand castles together. Your family came up, and it made it ten times more fun for your birthday. Your parents even stay in to watch the kids so you, Harry, Phil, and Julian can all go out to a bar to celebrate. You couldn’t believe you were already twenty-eight. It was hard to feel old, though, when you could still have such a great time dancing and drinking. The day of your actual birthday you all enjoy some cake, and a few gifts.
Andy was back home with you and Harry now that it was just about the middle of August. It was nice having him home, it was too quiet without him, even if you did enjoy the alone time with Harry. Andy loved all of the changes that were made to the house. He had kept what happened with Brandon, or what almost happened with Brandon, to himself. He just wanted to keep that moment for himself. The Ariana Grande concert wouldn’t be until November, but Andy was already talking to you about outfit choices for the meet and greet.
“I just got back, and you’re leaving for a week?” Andy asks you at dinner when you tell him about your trip to California.
“Yeah, I have a conference to go to, I’ll be back before you know it.” You smile. “You’re gonna have some nice quality time with Dad.”
“Yeah, we’re gonna have a lot of fun.”
“Mhm, I can’t wait to go back to school shopping with you and Mum.” Andy rolls his eyes.
“That’s a day that should be way more fun that it is, and we’re not doing that until after Y/N gets back. We’ll have another pot painting day.” Harry takes a bite of his dinner. “I was thinking we could go to the pottery paint place, though. Have a little father-son date.”
“Ew, don’t call it a date, Dad.”
You burst out laughing. You’d miss your boys over the next week.
//
“Dad, can we do the pottery thing another time, Brandon invited me to go to the skate park tomorrow.” Andy says to Harry the night before they’re supposed to go to the pottery place.
“Oh, well, you can go skateboarding with him any time, can’t you? Or even afterwards?”
“Why can’t we just go paint another day?”
“I was sort of looking forward to spending the time with you.” Harry frowns. “We haven’t done much just the two of us in a while.”
“That’s because you spend all your free time with Y/N.” Andy smirks and sits down on the couch with Harry.
“Not true, we do stuff as the three of us. I feel like you like spending time with her more than me.”
“That’s not true! I guess I can go skateboarding with B another day.”
“I don’t wanna go tomorrow if it’s gonna be a force for you.”
“It won’t be. It’ll be fun.” He looks at Harry. “She’s only been gone two days, you know?”
“I’m aware.”
“So, she’ll be back in another three. It’ll go by quick.”
“I just feel bad that she has to go right from the airport to our faculty meeting.” He sighs. “But I suppose it’s all going to work out perfectly.”
“Yeah, she’s gonna be really surprised.”
//
Spending a week in California was amazing. You felt like your old independent self. It was nice to explore in the evenings, and you got a lot out of the sessions you attended. You had a ton of new ideas for your classes and for your paper. You spoke to Harry when you could. The three hour time difference was much more manageable than the six hour one like when he was in London.
You were happy with the tan you managed to get out there, and did your best to sleep on the plane home so you weren’t totally exhausted. You take the bus back to town, and load your things up in your car and drive over to the university. You managed to freshen up at the airport, and you texted Harry updates so he knew when to expect you. What you refrained from telling him was that you were going to stop by your office quickly just to open it up and let it get some fresh air from the window. You also needed to grab your spare laptop charger.
There was something you liked about the quiet before the semester started. It was like the calm before an incredible storm. You were feeling extremely prepared for this semester. It would be your third year teaching at the university, and you were feeling really good about it. You key into your office and set something down.
“Well, if it isn’t my not so new neighbor.”
“Jesus!” You nearly jump out of your shoes. Even though you knew Harry’s voice well, he still found ways to scare the shit out of you. You sigh and turn around. “And to think I was…excited…to…see…you…” Your eyes widen when you see him down on one knee with a small velvet box in one hand, and a shit eating grin on his face. “How…how did you know I’d come here first?” Your eyes start to water.
“Because I know you very well, come here.” You step towards him and take his free hand in yours. You were shaking. “Are you gonna be okay?” You nod your head yes. “Good, because we don’t have a ton of time before our meeting.” You chuckle slightly at that. “Still excited to see me?”
“Yes.” You whisper.
“Do you know what’s in this little box?”
“I have an idea.”
“I truthfully never thought I’d be buying another one of these for someone. I…I didn’t think I deserved to have someone love me the way that you do, but I know now that I do. Sometimes I’d wonder why things didn’t work out the way I thought were supposed to, but I realized that everything I went through was just part of my journey to you, Y/N.” You cough out a nervous giggle as you had tears running down your cheeks. “I was trying to think of the perfect moment or place for this, and nothing felt better than the place we first met and became friends. Plus, I knew you’d nearly shit yourself.” He smirks and you shake your head. “So, with all that being said, and may I remind you I don’t care about how long we’re engaged for because I know your doctorate comes first…will you marry me?” He opens the small box and you gasp at the ring. It was stunning, beyond stunning.
“Yes, oh my god, yes!” Your hand was shaking terribly, but he manages to slip the ring on.
He stands up and swings you around in his arms. He slots his mouth over yours, and you almost forget where you are until you hear a bottle pop.
“Woo! Congratulations!” Janette says with a freshly opened bottle of champagne. Lisa, Mateo, Lucas, Andre, and Sandra all come out as well. “You should have seen your face, Y/N.” She chuckles.
“You guys!” You laugh and go to hug your colleagues. “You all knew?”
“All Harry said was that we should wait upstairs and to bring champagne, we just assumed.” Lisa says as she holds out some cups for Janette to pour the champagne in.
“Where’s Andy?” You ask him as you take a sip.
“At Brandon’s.”
“Did he know?”
“What are you, new? Who do you think helped me design the ring?” He smirks and nudge his shoulder. “We’ll celebrate with him tonight when we get back from dinner, there’s an ice cream cake in the freezer just waiting to be eaten.”
You all chat about the excitement before you need to actually go through the things you needed to in your faculty meeting. It was hard to concentrate, though. You wanted to call your parents, your brother, your friends; everyone! Not to mention the ring itself was distracting. You weren’t expecting something quite so…large. Then again, Harry was the gaudy ring type, so it shouldn’t be that surprising that he went all out.
“You two should go home to be with Andy to celebrate.” Lisa says. “We can all go down to the pub another time.”
“No, it’s alright, he’ll probably be annoyed if we pick him up too early from his friend’s.” Harry says.
“I actually wouldn’t mind going home...had a six hour flight earlier, you know?”
“Shit, you’re right. No one minds waiting a few days?”
“Not at all.” Janette says. “Let’s just all meet up Friday, it’ll be more fun.”
You drive separately back to the house, and Harry helps you get your things inside. You wrap your arms around his neck and kiss him. You suck on his bottom lip and he moans into you.
“This is why you wanted to come back, huh?” He smirks.
“You’re not the only one that’s good at being sneaky.”
You couldn’t feel luckier than you do now, to be engaged to the absolute love of your life.

Be My Eyes
Requested by lemonypink via my ask box: I was wondering if I could make a request? Maybe it’s a Spencer Reid/Matthew Gray Gubler x reader (gender neutral) and the reader has a disability (mute/blind/deaf/whatever) and he’s assisting them through it.
I was inspired by a TikTok I saw about this app called Be My Eyes, which connects seeing people with blind individuals in order to help with daily tasks. I thought it'd be cute to write a little fic inspired by it. :) Also, for the sake of simplicity I won't be describing all of the intricacies of using a cell phone as a blind person (i.e. voice commands, text to speech, etc.). Just imagine it's there! As seen in the request, reader in gender neutral. Also trying writing in first person this time rather than second, so please bear with me. Phew, that was a lot. On to the fic!
Title: Be My Eyes Pairing: Reid x Reader Rating: K+ Words: 715 Warnings: Reader is blind in this fic. Nothing else I can think of.
My fingers ran over the edge of the stack of mail I had retrieved from the mailbox after work. There were eight envelopes if I was counting right. I sighed, picked up my phone and sent a text to Spencer.
Are you free? Need help with mail.
Realistically, the stack could wait. It wasn't likely any important mail was coming in today or even this week. Spencer was on a case, so I felt a little selfish asking him to help me with such a menial task. It had been a long couple of days without him in the apartment, so I brushed it aside. I'm sure he wanted an excuse to talk to me, too, but if he couldn't help I always understood.
I put on an audiobook and leaned back into the leather couch. I called for Dallas (my guide dog) and he immediately came running to lay at my feet. As the chapter I was listening to was ending, the narrator was interrupted by my ringtone for Spencer. I picked up immediately. "Hey you," I answered, holding my phone up in front of me. "How's the case going? Dallas and I miss you." I pointed my phone down towards my feet.
"It's done," he replied. "We arrested him earlier today, and we should be on the jet home here in a couple hours." I could hear the smile in his voice. "Emily is finishing up some paperwork with the local PD."
"That's great to hear." I smiled. "Now onto the really important stuff," I joked. "The mail." I set the stack on my lap. "You ready, Spence? Rapid fire coming your way."
"Y/N, I can read 20,000 words a second. I'm always ready for rapid fire mail-sorting." I let out a breathy laugh and held up the first envelope. "Bill for me," he said immediately. Next envelope. "Letter for me from Blake." The next envelope was much bigger and had a glossy finish. He hesitated for a moment, and I was confused. "Well, Y/N, it looks like you've won a free cruise in the Meditteranean. And all you have to do is provide your social security number."
"Oh, great," I huffed sarcastically. Spencer always tried to make these repetitive tasks fun when he could, and I loved him all the more for it.
The next envelopes were almost all bills, but the last envelope I held up got Spencer's attention It was a thicker envelope, and I could tell there was bubble wrap on the inside. "Oh, it's another package from Garcia. Do you want me to read it?"
"Sure," I responded, setting my phone down on the couch next to me to carefully tear open the package. Garcia always wrote letters or cards, and made sure to put several adornments on the paper to give me something to physically feel in addition to her words, hence the more protective package. The first thing I pulled out of the bag was a circular, knit piece. I held it up to the camera for Reid to identify.
"It's a potholder," he explained. "It's multicolor, like a rainbow." I pulled a card out of the envelope, and immediately felt the texture of glitter and craft pom-poms. "Oh god, the glitter," Spencer groaned. "I don't know what I was hoping for. I hope it doesn't get everywhere. Go ahead and open it up."
He began reading. "Y/N, I am sending this card in hopes that this case is wrapping up and you, Reid, and I will be able to get dinner sometime soon. I know you're reading this Spencer, so don't worry-- the glitter is mod-podged down so it will not go everywhere in your apartment." He paused to chuckle. "Although you know how glitter is; a few stray flecks may be stuck in Dallas' fur for eternity." I laughed at that one. "Sending my love in the form of this potholder. Call me soon. Love, Penelope G."
"That's so sweet of her," I gushed. "You know, maybe we could have that dinner at our place. We'd have a good reason to use that potholder."
"I love that idea," Spencer agreed. "I'm so excited to see you Y/N. Hopefully I'll be home sometime early in the morning."
"Can't wait." I smiled. "See you soon Spence!"

Nothing but the Truth

Masterpost- Previous- Next
Summary: The twins throw a sleepover and everyone gets more revelations than they bargained for.
Content Warning: Anxiety, mentions of eating non-food items
Day 15 pre-Dukexiety/ pre-Rosleep/background Loceit- It is impossible to lie to your Soulmate
Virgil couldn’t stop tapping his foot as he watched mailboxes and telephone poles flash by the car door window. There were about one million things that could go wrong tonight and he was trapped thinking through every single one of them. Roman was his bestest friend in all of the second grade, and he didn't mind hanging out with Roman’s twin brother Remus or their friend Patton, but a sleepover? Away from his safe bed where dad checked the closet for monsters every night and left the hall light on to prevent vampires from sneaking in to bite him? Virgil almost wanted to ask dad to turn around now, but then he worried that Remus would find out and call him a baby.
Virgil was no baby. And he certainly couldn't let Remus know he was scared.
They pulled into the driveway and Virgil very bravely grabbed his purple spider backpack and favorite pillow and climbed out of the car. He took dad's hand and they walked up to the front door together.
"Go ahead and ring the bell, Virge," dad smiled at him and pointed to the doorbell. Virgil had to stand on tiptoes but he managed to hit the button. He jumped at the loud bell tone from inside the house and the subsequent scrabbling of running feet and a dog barking.
He'd forgotten all about their dog.
The inner door swung open to reveal Roman standing there with a huge grin on his face. Virgil could see the missing tooth that had "fallen out" earlier that week.
"DAD! VIRGIL’S HERE!" Roman shouted back into the house. Suddenly a dog nearly as big as Virgil came running up to the door, pulling Remus along with him. Virgil was very happy there was still a screen between them.
"Damn it, Nagini!" Remus swore, trying to hold the dog back, "Roro, help me!" Roman jumped to grab her collar as well and they both tried to pull her from the door.
"Virgil, if you pick up any swearing from Remus we're going to have to have a serious talk about your choice in friends," dad reprimanded as Roman and Remus' dad came into view.
"Logan! I'm so glad Virgil could come over tonight. Roman would not stop begging for a sleepover," their dad said with a smile, taking Nagini's collar from the twins and easily holding her back from the door, "please come in."
"Thank you, Janus. He needed more convincing than I did," Logan smiled at the other dad, ushering Virgil inside.
"The twins have been such devils lately," Janus sighed, "you're so lucky that Virgil is so calm."
Logan chuckled, "we have our fair share of quirks, I assure you. Kids, go ahead and go play. Your father and I are just going to talk for a bit."
Virgil looked up curiously, "Dad, why is your face so red?"
Logan flushed all the harder at the question and glanced at Janus, "because we're going to talk for a little bit. Don't worry about me. Go have fun, my little warrior."
Virgil smiled and ran off to the playroom with Roman and Remus.
"Nice save," Janus smirked.
"I wouldn't lie to my son even if you weren't in earshot," Logan quipped back.
"Virgil!! We're gonna have so much fun tonight!" Roman bounced excitedly, holding onto Virgil’s sleeve.
"Yeah! We're gonna make zombie slime that's gonna taste like braaaaains!" Remus grinned and rubbed his hands together like a movie villain. The twins were nearly identical except for the bright streak of silver hair Remus had and remarkably different personalities.
Virgil was decidedly less excited than the twins, convinced that touching zombie slime would turn him into the walking dead. He didn't want to know what brains taste like.
"When's Pat gonna get here?" Virgil asked with a half-smile.
"Oooh does Virgie have a crush?" Remus cackled.
"No! I do not have a crush on Patton!" Virgil pouted.
"Yeah, Remus, Virgil doesn't have a crush like you do," Roman stuck out his tongue and ran away as Remus tried to tackle him.
"Shut Up, Dirtbag!" Remus' tackle missed and he crashed into the toy box sending toys crashing all over the room.
"Are you boys okay in there?" Janus called from the other room.
"Yes," Virgil and Roman both called back in unison
"No," came Remus' muffled voice. The other two walked over to pull him out of the box as Logan and Janus both walked into the room.
"Christ! Look at this mess. Remus, what's broken?" Janus bent down to his son.
Remus sniffed, "my heart."
Roman took a not-very-discreet step backward and Virgil went to hug his dad's legs. He didn't mean to hurt Remus and he was sure it was his fault and he'd be sent away to never see his friends again.
Janus sighed and offered Remus a hug which the boy gladly accepted, "what happened?"
"Ro is teasing me," Remus mumbled, "but I'm okay! Don't send Virgil and Patton home just because I'm a baby!"
"Okay, no. You are not a baby for feeling hurt when someone is mean to you. Roman? Why were you teasing your brother?" Janus pinned Roman in the middle of his escape with a piercing stare.
"Ahm…. No reason," Roman lied.
"Roman…"
"He was teasing Virgil. I'm sorry please don't make Virgil leave," Roman blinked back tears.
Janus pinched the bridge of his nose, "none of this explains how Remus ended up in the toy box."
Virgil tugged on his dad's sleeve, "dad, are we gonna have to leave if we can't play nice?"
Logan shared a look with Janus then turned back to Virgil, "no, we are not leaving. You all have been planning this party for months and have worked hard to be well behaved. I don't think one little fight is going to negate that." Virgil nodded slowly.
"Daddy, my shoulder hurts," Remus whimpered.
"Alright, Roman, five minutes in the time out chair. Please consider why it is not fair to Remus or Virgil to tease each other. I'll be back when your five minutes are up. Remus, let's go get some ice and talk about why it's not nice to make fun of your friends. Logan, I am so sorry. You see what I have to deal with?" Janus chuckled helplessly, picking Remus up with a grunt as Roman sulked over to a chair in the corner. The doorbell rang and Roman swiveled around to jump up and get the door. "No! You're in time out! That must be Emile with Patton. Can you get the door, dear?"
Logan blushed and nodded, grabbing Virgil’s hand to walk back out to the front door. They opened the door to find Patton and his older brother standing there with a very frazzled looking father.
"Oh, Logan! I thought that was your car! How are you doing?" Emile gave him a weary smile.
"The usual. Virgil’s a little handful but nothing we can't work out together. How are you and the boys?"
Emile groaned as Logan ushered them in. Virgil waved at Patton who waved back excitedly. He was already wearing a dinosaur onesie even though bedtime was hours away. The adults talked in hushed whispers in the foyer that Virgil couldn’t understand.
"Hi, Virge! Where's Remus and Roman?" Patton asked Virgil quietly.
"Uh.. in trouble.." Virgil muttered.
"What?? How?" Patton looked crestfallen, "is their dad gonna send us home?"
"No, definitely not," Virgil smiled at Patton, "it was just a little argument."
"God, you babies are boring!" Patton's older brother Remy scoffed. He was in 3rd grade so Virgil figured he must know what he's talking about.
Janus and Remus emerged from the kitchen with the young boy holding an ice pack to his shoulder. Janus pushed Remus towards the kids standing in the hall and joined the other adults in conversation.
"Don't worry, V. I'm okay and Dad promised you guys can stay! Hi Pattycake! Hi Name Theif!" Remus grinned, the pain and embarrassment were already forgotten.
Remy rolled his eyes, "I'm older than you, twerp."
"Remy, be nice to my friends!" Patton whined.
"Why should I be?"
"Thank you again, Janus. We really owe you one this time. I'll go get his stuff from the car. You'd think with three adults in the house we wouldn't have scheduling issues like this," Emile quickly jogged back out to his car, bringing back two sets of sleepover equipment.
"Fudge! Dad's leaving me here too!" Remy groaned. Virgil was a bit intimidated but refused to show it.
"Alright let's go get Roman so your fathers can get on with their lives," Janus corralled the kids back to the playroom, winking at Logan as he and Emile left.
Roman immediately bounced up from the chair as soon as the others returned. He rushed over to Remus and wrapped him in a hug, "I'm sorry!"
Remus grinned, "'s okay!" he hugged Roman back tightly and Janus sighed a small sigh of relief.
"Okay, children, ground rules. One, if anything breaks or anyone gets injured you get me immediately. Two, and this is mostly for you, Remus, no eating anything that isn't food-" Remus grumbled at this but nodded, handing his dad the half-melted ice pack "-lovely. And finally three, bedtime is non-negotiable. You have to be quiet after bedtime. Other than that, just don't maim or mock each other and tonight will go just fine," Janus gave the children a sly grin and left the room.
"Ugh! Why am I stuck with you babies?" Remy moaned.
"We're not babies, Rem!" Patton huffed, "you're not that much older than us."
"Besides, babies don't get to play with slime!" Remus grinned, running over to a supply cabinet filled with crafts.
"Wow. I'm so not impressed," Remy made a confused face but shook it off, "why play with slime when we can play a grown-up game?"
"Grown-up game?" Virgil asked quietly.
"I don't trust it. It's bound to be something boring like taxes!" Roman pouted, kicking a stuffed animal.
"Let's play Truth or Dare," Remy smirked as the others looked at him with confused stares.
"How do ya play that?" Remus asked, intrigued.
"Can't we do something else like color?" Patton asked hopefully.
Remy rolled his head from shoulder to shoulder, cracking his neck audibly, "listen up, we're playing and I'm only going over the rules once. We all sit in a circle and take turns choosing someone to ask 'truth or dare?' and that person has to choose whether to answer a question truthfully or accept a challenge that they can't back outta. Once they pick, the person who asked them picks a question or challenge. Got it, babes?" the others all nodded solemnly, "perfect. Maybe this won't be a wasted night yet."
They all gathered in a circle in the middle of the room. Remus was clutching a stuffed squid and Virgil was chewing on his nails.
"Oh! Oh! I wanna go first!" Roman bounced in his seat and made a show of studying everyone before landing on his choice, "Patton, truth or dare?"
"Ummm truth!" The boy squeaked.
"Alright, uhhhh do you like cats?" Roman asked accusingly.
"Yes!" Patton beamed, "but dad and papa say I'm allergic to them."
"Noooo you have to ask juicy questions!" Remy whined.
"Oh uh, Patton do you like juice?" Roman corrected.
Remy smacked his forehead as Patton cheerfully replied, "yeah I like juice too!"
"Let me show you how it's done. Virgil, truth or dare?" Remy stared him down with piercing eyes and everyone else turned to watch for Virgil’s response. He could feel his pulse rise with the fear of being put on the spot.
"Uh dare?" Virgil asked, pulling his hood up over his head.
"I dare you to go eat some glue!" Remy smirked.
"Ooh, yummy!" Remus grinned
"But wait-" Roman started.
"Mr. Prince said not to eat anything that isn't food. That's an illegal dare, Remy!" Patton interrupted in protest.
"Truth or Dare doesn't play by house rules. You gotta do it, Virgil, or you're a loser baby," Remy continued to smirk, nodding over to the supply cabinet.
Virgil stood with a gulp. He would not let any of them call him a loser or a baby. He walked over to the supply closet and grabbed a bottle of white glue. The label said non-toxic, but what if it glued his mouth shut and he could never talk or laugh again? What if it just sat in his stomach forever and captured all the brussel sprouts he hated eating so they never left? What if he-
"Just do it we don't have all night!" Remy bossed him from the circle. Virgil took a deep breath and squeezed some glue on his finger before quickly shoving the finger in his mouth. He wanted to gag because the texture was so awful but he swallowed as best he could and showed the others his clean finger.
"Wow Virgil, you're so brave!" Patton smiled at him.
"Humph! I do that at least three times a week!" Remus smacked his hand over his mouth.
"You told dad you stopped! Liar!" Roman accused him. Remy just laughed at the small pool of chaos he'd created.
"Okay my turn, Remus, truth or dare?" Patton asked, rocking back and forth on his seat on the floor.
"Truth!"
"Okay, do you like dogs?"
Remus gasped, "Nagini! I wanna go get her!"
"No, Remus! Dad probably put her outside so she doesn't eat Virgil," Roman rolled his eyes and Virgil added a new thing to his list to look out for in his nightmares.
"No! You have to ask questions that people won't want to answer. Like about crushes or secrets or stuff like that! What fun is it if the person wants to tell the truth?" Remy groaned.
"Sorry, Rem," Patton whimpered.
"Well, it's my turn. Remy, truth or dare?" Remus grinned at the older boy.
"Truth. Do your worst." Remy stared back cooly.
"Have ya ever pooped in the bath?" Remus' smile turned wicked and the others gasped while Remy sputtered.
"N- n- how- yes," he looked mortified and buried his face in his knees as the others laughed. Remy had tried so hard to lie and save face but couldn't, and not because of the social contract of the rules of the game. He physically could not force himself to lie. Which meant his own crush was a lot bigger deal than he wanted to admit and he'd just told his soulmate one of the most embarrassing things in his life. "Oh my gawd, just kill me now."
"It's okay Remy, I'm sure it's happened to almost everyone at some point," Virgil was still snickering and realized it was his turn, "Roman, truth or dare?"
"Dare!" Roman puffed his chest out in confidence.
"Okay.. I dare you to climb that bookshelf," Virgil pointed to the shelves in question.
Roman popped up from his seat on the floor, "easy!" he scurried up until he could touch the ceiling but paused, clinging to the shelves, "I think I'm stuck."
Remus jumped up, "don't worry, brother, I'll catch you! Jump!" Roman let go and fell back. Remus caught and promptly dropped Roman.
"Oops… Ro are you okay?"
"I'm fine. Remy, truth or dare?"
Remy weighed his options. He wouldn't be able to lie if the question was too embarrassing so he scowled, "dare."
"I dare you to go sneak ice cream bars from the freezer for everyone," Roman grinned, dusting himself off.
"Whatever, that's so lame and easy," Remy stood and started out the playroom door.
"You won't be saying that if dad catches you," Remus giggled.
"Okay if Remy's gone I think that means it's my turn," Patton chipped in, "Virgil, truth or dare?"
On one hand, Patton couldn't possibly ask him to do anything as dangerous as Remy had. On the other hand, Virgil was starting to feel sick and didn't want to get up, "truth…"
"Okay," Patton furrowed his eyebrows with concentration. He didn't want to ruin the game anymore with baby questions, "um, have you ever kissed someone?"
Virgil felt frozen in time. His mind flashed back to a spring day on the playground when he'd just wanted to know if he'd like kissing and what it was like and Roman had volunteered to let him try with him. They'd agreed to never speak of it again. He could see Roman blushing and Remus and Patton staring at him with anticipation. He had to lie to protect his best friend.
"Yes," Virgil smacked his hand to his mouth. That was absolutely not what he had intended to say. He could see Roman panicking now too. Oh no, did Roman hate him? Remus looked upset and Patton looked shocked. Neither had noticed Roman's face yet but Virgil could see the next logical question forming on Remus' lips.
"Who?"
Virgil turned away from the group and started to cry. He didn't want to answer because he didn't think his mouth would let him lie even if he tried. He felt a weird tug in his gut compelling him to tell the truth.
Wait. Did that mean that one of these boys was his soulmate?
"I think it was Elliott," Roman lied shakily. Virgil nodded, relieved of having to tell them himself and willing to go along with the lie. That meant his soulmate wasn’t Remy or Roman.
Remus crawled around to sit in front of Virgil, holding Sir Squiggles the stuffed Squid out to him, "Virgil, it'll be okay. I'm sure your soulmate will understand," Virgil took Sir Squiggles and nodded, not wanting to make eye contact with Remus. Sir Squiggles felt sticky and Virgil’s stomach was aching already. This was supposed to be a lot more fun.
"Ugh this is getting boring," Roman whined, "Remus, truth or dare?"
"Dare," Remus answered without thinking.
Roman got a wicked gleam in his eye, "I dare you to kiss your crush."
Remus glared at his brother and tried to say that he couldn’t because he wasn't in the house, but found that he couldn’t say that. He knew full well Virgil was sitting right in front of him but he couldn’t bring himself to lie and save himself.
Uh oh. That meant Patton or oh please be Virgil was his soulmate.
Remus knew there was no way out of it so he decided to come clean. As he knelt there in front of Virgil, who was looking at him expectantly, he grabbed the other boy’s hand and kissed his knuckles. Both of them blushed.
"That's cheating!" Roman protested.
Patton laughed, "you never said where to kiss. I say it counts," his laughter died down into giggles and he started singing, "Remus has a crush on Virgilll!"
"That's not fair!" Roman whined.
"What's not fair?" The adult voice from the door startled all of them.
Janus stood there with a guilty-looking Remy. The other boys froze in place, Remus subconsciously shifting to put himself between his dad and Virgil.
"Okay, better question, who tried to trick Remy into stealing ice cream?" Janus looked around at each of their faces with a hard glare. None of them could look him in the eye.
"It was a dare," Roman sniffed, knowing he was going to get in trouble for the second time that day, but unable to lie and make up a cover story.
"Am I that scary that my own children can't ask me for ice cream?" Janus pretended to be offended before pulling out ice cream bars from behind his back. Everyone jumped up to grab one and Remy broke into a grin, giving Janus a high five. "You are one talented little actor. You all keep playing nice, okay?" Everyone nodded as Janus turned and left the room again.
"Oh my goodness, did you get caught?" Patton asked in a hushed whisper.
Remy struggled for a second before answering, "no I just went and asked for ice cream," he sighed and shook his head, "that's it I'm done with truth or dare. It's no fun if you can't lie and fake people out."
Roman gave an offended gasp, "how dare you?! You're the one who suggested it!"
"Wait, you can't lie? That would mean…" Virgil trailed off. What a weird coincidence it would be if both he and Remy were in the presence of their soulmates. Unless… no…
"Not that I wanted to lie to you guys, but I felt it too," Roman interrupted Virgil’s thoughts.
"Samesies," Remus chuckled.
Patton looked down at his slippers, "aww that's nice for you guys."
"So… who is who's soulmate?" Remy looked between the brothers. He definitely had a preference but that's not how soulmates worked.
Remus stood and grabbed Virgil’s wrist, heart beating wildly in his chest. He pulled him out into the hallway towards the front doors away from the others.
"What are you doing?" Virgil asked.
"Testing. Ask me something I wouldn't want to answer." Remus stated with determination in his eyes.
"Uh, do you still sleep with Sir Squiggles in your bed?"
Remus' eyes flashed with fear, "yes because I'm a baby who's still scared of the dark."
Virgil smiled, "me too. And I would never tell anyone else that."
Remus giggled, "wow, somehow I don't even want to lie to you… and I can't… did you really kiss Elliott?"
"No…" Virgil looked down at the floor. Of course, his soulmate would ask the one thing he really didn't want to admit, "it was actually Roman. I'm sorry, I didn't know…"
Remus looked sad but nodded, "I did say that your soulmate would understand. And I meant it. I understand. I'll just have to prove I'm better than him!" Virgil snorted, trying to hold back giggles. He felt much better.
"Um guys, we're gonna make slime now," Patton interrupted from the hallway, "and Remy and Roman are pretty sure they're soulmates."
Remus' eyes gleamed, "slime!" He ran back to the room leaving the other two behind.
Virgil smiled, "hey Patton?"
"Yeah?" Patton looked up and quickly smiled.
"We're gonna be friends forever, right?" Virgil asked.
Patton's smile broadened into a genuinely happy expression, "of course!"
Virgil opened his arms as an invitation for a hug which Patton gladly accepted.
"Now let's go make slime!" Virgil grabbed Patton's hand to drag him back to the playroom.
That night, Virgil lay awake in his sleeping bag, staring at the ceiling. No one had checked the closet or left a light on, and even with all the fun they had, he was still feeling pretty scared in the dark.
Something soft, squishy, a little sticky, and covered in tentacles landed on his face. Virgil tried to muffle his startled yell and quickly discovered Sir Squiggles was the offending toy.
"Psssst Virgil," Remus' whisper came from the bottom bunk bed right next to Virgil’s sleeping bag.
"What?" Virgil whispered back.
"Are you too scared to sleep too?"
"Yeah," Virgil sat up and could look Remus in his eyes.
"Get up here, we'll protect each other."
"What will everyone else say?" Virgil hissed.
"Who cares? Please?" Remus smiled and Virgil nodded in the dark. He slid out of his sleeping bag and grabbed his pillow and Sir Squiggles before climbing in the bunk.
"What are you scared of?" Virgil whispered as Remus shifted to give him more room.
"Ninjas. They can hide in the dark and attack when you least expect," Remus' eyes went wide but Virgil smiled.
"I'll fight 'em. I know karate," Remus smiled and gave him a hug.
"What about you, Virge? What are you scared of?"
"The monsters in the closet," Virgil couldn't make eye contact but Remus smirked.
"I'm scarier than anything in there!" Remus boasted, voice trailing above a whisper.
"Shhhh"
"Sorry."
"It's okay. Thank you, Remus," Virgil smiled and snuggled under the covers. It had been a pretty great first sleepover after all.

[OM! Headcanons] Merchant Class Mammon
Healer class Lucifer [Here]
So I know Mammon as a thief/rouge makes sense. And that’s probably really his main adventuring class. Hell, I can even see him alting as a dancer if support is needed.
But consider this: Merchant/Market Master Mammon stalking the market and always trying to get the best deals while making a quick buck. It’s not about dungeon runs or fancy stats for him, he wants monopoly of that sweet, sweet player market.
“How much did you just spend?” “Ok, but hear me out. it was on sale.”
Asks for loans from everyone when he sees gear that he wants is low and is just a little short because he just bought out a giant stack of raw materials.
Immediately starts refreshing the market as soon as new gear comes out to start planning when to sell and buy
Will sometimes just send gear to people when he gets a great deal on them because someone to put an extra 0 in the price
Checks the market prices for his sales before, after, and sometimes even during a dungeon run
Expect him to take at least half an hour updating prices if he notices anything off in the market
Has multiple alarms set up for when he needs to regularly check how his shops are doing and make his rounds of price updates.
“Mammon, why are you up? It’s like, 5AM” “Market reset, this ass is trying to undercut me???”
Greeds everything in the dungeon runs
“Do you really need that? It sells for like... nothing.” “You never know when the price of it will go up!”
Inventory is always full, even the expanded one. And the inventory of his mount... and the inventory in his house... He somehow knows where everything is still.
“Can you shut up about the guy who undercut you already and focus on DPS?” “OKAY, BUT I LOST OUT ON LIKE, 500K. HOW DO YOU EXPECT ME NOT TO COMPLAIN? AND PLEASE HEAL ME? I’M DYING?” “I CANNOT HEAL THROUGH WALLS, MAMMON.”
If there’s a haggling option, you can bet your ass he’ll be there for at least ten minutes bargaining.
He gets the best gifts to his close friends though. Stalking the market has its perks.
One day some high end gear that someone’s had on their wishlist just pops up in his party’s mailbox.
And just like that, he’s broke again because he bought that weapon his brother’s always wanted.
Spends the next ten days grinding one map/dungeon for raw materials to craft his next marketing adventure.
Getting upset when his things don’t sell within three days. “Someone’s gotta be undercutting me.”
If he’s got the money, he’s got the money and will be happy to give his friends a loan... with interest
“No, seriously Mammon, how much was this?” “I told you not to worry about it, Levi. Just carry me through the new dungeon. That loot is calling my name.”
Practically everyone in town knows him as “That Market Guy.” since he’s always lurking near the marketplace.

Loki takes extra special care when crafting your letter. his handwriting is immaculate, the parchment looks and feels as if it’s plucked directly from the medieval era, and he’s sealed it with emerald wax and petrified rose petals. it isn’t delivered in your mailbox, but placed methodically upon the center of the welcome mat, so it is all but impossible to miss when you step outside.
Little Kitten,
I’m aware that mortals do not partake in the art of letter writing anymore, and to be completely honest I can’t for the life of me understand why. They would rather type away on their handheld computers and deconstruct their vernacular instead of expressing themselves via the physical intimacy of their own handwriting. Personally, I find the latter much more sincere, as you well know as this is not the first you’re receiving of my written word.
I hope you enjoy reading these, and perhaps imagining me crafting them. A dip of a quill into the raven ink, the swooping of the point as it bleeds these words into the parchment, or the flick of my wrist to sign it without spilling so much as a stray drop. Everything, and I do mean everything, must be absolutely perfect before I will allow you to read it.
I will make this visage more accurate for you this one and only time. I am seated at a large, gilded desk. As you know, much of Asgard sparkles in golden hue. Candlelight makes the night all the more peaceful. Or, what is that earth word you taught me last weekend? ... Zen? It bathes myself and the parchment in a flickering glow that I only wish I could watch you absorb.
There are so many thoughts of you in my mind (many of which are quite inappropriate) that I feel overwhelmed, in all of the best ways. I know that I will not see you for several more nights after this one, so I will simply have to please myself to the thought of you. It won’t be so difficult, however, because your moans for me are imprinted on my mind, the image of your back arching as if you were partially feline, completely nude and coming undone beneath me... these are the thoughts that keep me somewhat satiated until the next time I am able to get away to see you.
But fantasies only go so far, love. Perhaps now you know why I am so primal whenever I finally have you in my arms again. So I hope you can forgive me the next time I kiss you too passionately.
- Loki O.

Distant Lover, One Day I'll Hold You Like the Sun Holds the Moon
Summary:
When Steve leaves a letter for the new resident at the lake house he stayed at during the summer he doesn't expect to get a letter back, or such puzzling exchange that'll make him ask is this fate? Or is this just an expertly crafted practical joke?

Tumblr media
January 4th 2012
Dear New Resident,
I hope you enjoy this quaint house as much as I did. May it feel you with many times of peace. Please if you receive any mail addressed to me to forward it to my current address listed at the bottom of this letter. The paw prints on the dock and the box in the attic were here when I got here. Not sure who the box belongs to.
Enjoy your stay,
Steve R
Steve leaves the letter in the mailbox and takes his last bag of luggage. He didn't so much lie in the letter it really was a nice, quaint place and it was very peaceful but regardless of those facts he couldn't wait to leave the lake house behind him. It wasn't the lake house's fault he had a bad break up and had to go back to shifts at the emergency room after his private practice lost their funding and he certainly didn't believe it was cursed so it was okay to omit his personal drama from the note. He takes one last look at the house, placed in the middle of a lake 5 miles wide with large windows being the only source of outside exterior walls. It gives the illusion just anyone could look in but there was no one around to do so, and even then by some technological advances of some kind Steve couldn't bother to remember, the glass reflects in a way that disables anyone from seeing in. The walkway from land to house is around 10 yards and narrow, leaving enough room for one person and maybe a dog Steve thinks as he rolls his eyes looking at the pawprints again. He finally jumps in his car and pulls away from the house with promise he'll be back to check on it soon.
February 3rd
Bucky Barnes drives his truck down the gravel road towards the secluded lake house he decided, on a whim, to rent. A stupid decision possibly, especially for a bartender, but a great place for him to get peace to write. He checks the mailbox and sees a letter written by the previous inhabitant. He slings his only bag back over his shoulder and slides his fingers though the flap of the envelope to open it as he walks up the walkway. He unfolds it as he puts the keys he was given in the lock, flicks the lights on by the door, and drops his bag down. He walks to the couch and starts reading.
Quaint? Definitely. He got that memo when he checked out the place. He glances quickly at the bottom to see the address he's supposed to forward the mail to and goes back up to reading.
Paw prints on the dock? Not sure he remembers seeing those unless he wasn't paying attention when he was shown the place, or even just now. He'll check in the morning.
Box? That could be interesting. Soon as he's settled and orders some food he'll find his way up to the attic.
He puts the letter down. Okay so no notion of anything be haunted. That's good. Except maybe the mysterious box.
His food comes and he puts on the tv, setting it up when he was waiting for the delivery. Of course setting up the tv took longer than the thought so he didn't have time to look in the attic for the mysterious box. He finishes his dinner, discarding the remnants in the trash. He sits back down to finish the episode of whatever mindless tv program he settled on to rid himself of scrolling through all of the channels. He already forgot the name of it but it was a rerun of some show about people jumping through impossible obstacles. Bucky sits back and wonder if he could do that, maybe even win there prize...if there even was a prize. Note to self look up how to apply to American obstacle course show or something...
He turns it off after the episode ends resisting the urge to let it go to the next one and decides now is a good time as any to look up at the attic.
He pulls the covering down, revealing a small latter, and climbs up. He peaks his head through the hole and notices how empty the room is. He climbs through regardless and walks around the room seeing a few pieces of furniture, some with sheets covering it some covered in dust. That's odd. Almost as if no one has been up here in years. He looks around some more but doesn't see anything resembling a box. Maybe the letter was old and not only did the other inhabitants paint over the paw prints but also got rid of the box (and never dusted). Shame he was curious.
He checks the letter again and there was no date besides the day and month. Maybe it was January 4th of another year?
Bucky sighs and goes back to the television, scrolling through again until he falls on some movie that was halfway done. He falls asleep on the couch. Next day he looks around the house, in daylight this time, and sees what could possibly be fixed. He doesn't notice much in the house besides some rusty hinges which wont be a huge project so he goes outside to look. He walks on the walkway still not seeing the paw prints that were supposedly there however he does notice the paint chipping, pieces of it coming of in his hand as he slides it down. Looks like he'll need a trip to the nearest hardware store for some paint. It'll probably be easiest to just match the black that's already on it as much as he'd like to try his hand at a bold color change.
Luckily the hardware store was nearby so about a half an hour later he has the paint, brushes, a roller (in case that's easier), and a tray to dump the paint in.
About an hour in, and not even halfway done, he hears something near the bushes on the other side of the road of the house. He hears something jump out of it and the light scratching of nails on the pavement. He's about to turn around and face whatever beast decided to intrude on his peaceful Lake House when he hears a playful bark. The best, or otherwise known as a Golden Retriever, gallops towards him tongue flopping in the wind. Bucky manages to dodge out of the dog's way but unfortunately the paint pan didn't make it. The dog's feet run through it, knocking the paint can over as well in the process, and continues to run down the walkway and towards the house. Bucky stops the dog as it's feet touch the front porch of the house, and thanks himself for closing the door.
"Hey, buddy. What're you doing?" Bucky asks the dog as if the dog will answer him back 'Oh nothing much just going for my mid day jog'.
Bucky laughs to himself . “Alright let me see if I can get you cleaned up,” he says to the dog. He put his hand on the door knob but stops himself. Oh right. House that’s technically not his, dog that’s definitely not his with paint on his paws. Probably wouldn’t make a good mixture.
“Umm…” Bucky turns back to the dog who is sitting patiently. “Stay,” he apprehensively orders, pointing to the ground. “Stay,” He repeats as he opens the door. “Stay.” He says again as he moves his body backwards into the door, not leaving room for the dog to come in. Besides extending his head to the door the dog stays still.
Bucky rushes to the kitchen and looks in the drawers for a dish towel of some kind. Nothing. God the previous people really didn’t leave shit. He sighs and takes the roll of paper towels he had got on his way back from the hardware store. He ripped some off and folded it as he wet it under the sink quickly. He walks back to the front door mostly expecting the dog to run off, which he actually did think it did until he opens the door fully and sees it laying down on the porch near the door.
“Well at least you’re a good listener,” Bucky says, lowering himself to the ground. He grabs a paw, darkened with paint. The dog lets him, wagging its tail as Bucky uses the cloth to wipe off some of the paint. “Even if you did ruin my walkway…” He looks past the dog to long cement connecting the house to land. “Wait a minute…” He gets up and sees the paw prints all the way from towards the road to his house. The walkway, the painted paw prints. He walks over and brushes his shoe over one. It’s already dry. Paw prints on the walkway just like the letter described.
He walks back over to the dog and finishes cleaning its paws. He wears a puzzled look on his face as he thinks, much to the dog’s displeasure. Bucky feels a light kick on his face as he notices the dog roll on his back, asking for a belly rub. This shakes Bucky out of his trance as he laughs again at his new friend and obliges. The dog’s paws are clean and Bucky packs up the remaining paint, he’ll finish tomorrow. He heads inside, this time not giving the dog any orders so he follows him inside. Bucky doesn’t mind. He grabs the letter from the table by the couch and rereads it. He shakes his head again, maybe this dog has done this before? Or any dog for that matter? He sighs, looks through one of his bags for a piece of paper and decides to write a letter back. Tomorrow, after getting the dog checked at the vet, he’ll pick up some envelopes and stamps.
