PROTECT TRANS KIDS
I live in Alberta, Canada, which you may have heard is the latest province to introduce their version of "parental rights" legislation.
Here are some of the things our premier, Danielle Smith, promised to do on Wednesday;
mandate teachers report to parents (and ask permission if the child is younger than 16) if a child wants to use a different name/different pronouns in class
mandate permission forms anytime a teacher wants to mention gender or sexual orientation
ban children under the age of 16 from accessing hormones or puberty blockers
ban top & bottom surgery for anyone under the age of 18 (bottom, surgery is already illegal for anyone under 18 in Canada)
ban transgender women from competing in womens sports
These laws have been called "draconian" and were not drafted with consideration from medical, pediatric, or LGBT organizations. Danielle Smith is pandering to the social conservative wing of her party and putting queer kids in danger because of it.
"Parental Rights" are a sham that ignores the lived reality of queer kids.
I've spent the past few days feeling angry and heartbroken, and I wanted to spread awareness and share with my American followers because I haven't seen many news outlets outside of Canada covering this.

The Right uses a culture war over masks to attack our healthcare. They want it to collapse, they don't care if their base pays the price with their lives to get it done.

Natalie is such an older sister figure to the younger drivers
Yuki was hesitating off to the side of the Sky presenters because Bernie was in the middle of a sentence and Nataile just wrapped an arm around Yuki's shoulders, pulled him into the centre of the group and asked if he was alright
And when he said he was she gently pushed his mic up a bit more and said "Hold the mic higher so we can hear you, Yuki."
It was so cute

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip arriving for a state dinner at the Château Frontenac in Quebec City, Canada, 1964.
The rise of the sovereigntist movement from the 1960s weakened Quebec's historic links with the Crown. Separatists purported to see it as a symbol of colonialism and of Ottawa's ascendancy rather than as a vehicle for francophone particularity. The Queen's visit to Charlottetown and Quebec in 1964 for the centennial of the Confederation conferences of 1864 elicited protests from some Quebec nationalists; given concerns for the Queen's safety, there were calls for the cancellation of the tour. During the 1964 tour, the Queen herself acted with calm and courage, paying an eloquent tribute in French in the Quebec assembly to francophone culture in Canada. Vanier was disappointed and embarassed by the excessive security measures taken due to a gew hundred separatists, but admired the Queen's poise and perseverance and applauded the decision of Prime Minister Pearson and Premier Lesage not to bow to pressure and cancel the tour | The Crown and Canadian Federalism by D.
