Louis <3 I think this is an affect of how likable and overtly sympathetic he is in the amc show but I've seen people getting genuinely offended over Louis being described in fandom (and by Anne rice herself) as a manipulative cold hearted ass who uses his perceived vulnerability and gentleness to distract from the fact that he is just as cruel if not crueler then the other vampires. Like Louis does nottt have strong morals or high empathy lmao. Book Louis weaponizes his privilege like a white woman crying to self victimize into making the other vampires look worse them him 😭 . He refuses to kill humans for a while not bcus it hurts him to take life (he actually takes more pleasure in it then most), he refuses bcus he has catholic brain the way a christians who say "how do atheists have morals without god?" do, misunderstanding that most people actually care about other people and dont need an existential threat to encourage them not to hurt others.

His moral compass is self centered and based in up keeping the appearance of self restraint and monk style lack of enjoying himself, not empathy. If a vampire killed u would u feel better if u knew he cried over how much he got off on it then flaunted his suffering over how little he indulged so that everyone knew how piosis he was 😭.

He is way worse when it comes to how he treats his victims then Armand who intentionally seeks out victims who r asking to die or Lestat who tries the vigilante approach. To specify I love book Louis SOOOO much I love how shitty he is that's why it makes me sad when people mischaracterize him as sincere and get gen mad when ppl characterize him how he is in canon (a lying selfish bitch bless his heart). I think the common fandom perception of Armand as the crazy unhinged "omg I can't believe he actually did that in the books??" sadistic maniac villain guy is funny but not really accurate. Armand explicitly not only tries to avoid violence but dislikes it and finds it hard to comprehend why someone would seek out violence and conflict.

The reason he is always doing fucked up shit isn't out of a lestat-esc desire to cause chaos, it's bcus his highly strung ptsd brain has him convinced that the world is a battle ground and he must always be defending himself and acting out in violence.

Since acting out in violence is a reaction hes been taught throughout his life to be standard and necessary, as violence is something so normalized to him he considers it more of a tedious chore then a last resort measure, he usually reacts to conflict in ways that are objectively extreme to anyone who isn't thinking from his perspective. In qotd he even asks Daniel why men choose to fight in wars, explaining that he doesn't understand the draw of violence (bcus he's not a man) and he can't comprehend the supposed thrill of it.

ooooooh ok juicy sfc posts happening !! i rly honestly truly love to see it. here's my unasked for two cents, as someone who did find the story really hopeful. im posting this not to like, discourse or disagree or discount what im seeing, but to just maybe offer a different pov for ppl who might be trying to file this story away in a less devastating way.

i, of course, think baz deserves better than what he gets from his family. we all deserve to have families that love us unconditionally, and so many of us DONT have that -- including baz. that hurts !! i also think simon didn't deserve to lose his magic, and penny didn't deserve to take on the sole responsibility for keeping simon safe, and agatha didnt deserve to be shoved into every princess/damsel role ppl cast on her, etc etc. 

what i like so much abt this series is that ppl dont get what they deserve, but theyre still okay. its why i also love the end of awtwb -- simons LICH ER ALL Y crying lol. he got a whole mega-bucket of extra trauma dumped on his plate that he hasnt even started to process. but its still so clear that he's got the support he needs to live a good life alongside this terrible knowledge. the mage fucked him over even more than he knew, but he doesnt have to define himself by these terms anymore -- we've seen his growth in this regard.

bazs main arc in the series is about how he sees himself -- in crudely simple terms, he rly wants to be a Good Guy (you know, not a vampire, straight, a good pitch etc etc) but sees himself as cursed with that impossibility. this continues as his idealized Good Guy self develops over the course of the books into something that actually feels more achievable to him and is less reliant on the shit his family put on him growing up. 

the cool thing about snow for christmas is that -- just like when simon finds out abt the mage at the end of awtwb -- we get to see baz's new sense of self tested. we get to see what he's using to draw the lines of morality. and we get to see that while of course he still cares about what his family thinks, and it still causes him anxiety and trauma and all the shitty things that he doesnt deserve -- he has grown from that place where their value system can make him hate himself.

and moreso on the hope part -- the grimms value, above all, the ability to fit into the roles they think theyre supposed to hold. its bullshit, and they've both caused themselves problems and absolutely are fucking up their children. daphne fully had to be saved by a cult bc of it and shes still not over that mindset -- these ppl need therapy lol. so it's def sick n twisted that they're celebrating baz being able to hide better rather than celebrating who baz is, but is this not the utmost sign of love that they're capable of? baz gets to fit in better -- that's all they've ever wanted for him, whether we agree with that or not. baz seems to recognize the balance of this in the story. he narrates the rest of the dinner with a sort of dry, relieved, disbelieving tone. it’s like hes huffing a laugh, shaking his head, thinking, “did i really used to pin so much of myself on this stuff? how silly.” he is not distressed bc he understands his parents, and he has, again, divorced his sense of self from their expectations. so much so tht he says fuck it and gives simon the lil kissy at the end, because THIS is his new value system: he ALWAYS kisses simon goodbye!

so, is this a step forward for the grimms being more supportive parents? yeah, maybe not. maybe it never gets better than baz hiding his fangs at dinner and everyone doing the bare minimum to accept simon's role in baz’s life. that's not what baz and simon deserve. but it could be enough, because simon and baz have different ways that they measure their happiness by. they have each other and penny and shep and ruth and agatha and niamh and every other person they'll meet in the many, many years ahead of them whose opinions they can choose to make important to them, or reject. i love this for them! the true queer hope story imo. thats what i want for myself and for the people i love. 

to be clear: this story made me sob so hard i scared my cats. (im not rly a crier, they did not know what to do). i had to put it down in the middle because i couldnt see the page. any queer person who has Family Shit is bound to get whammied lol. but! i personally find comfort in the idea that we can coexist with people who are important to us but also very difficult to be around, even if its not totally what we deserve. its a very quiet, somber hope -- but that only makes it feel more real to me.

Honestly I try so hard to stay out of saying potentially controversial stuff about real situations (characters are a bit more...I obviously won't tag the character in negative stuff but it's fiction and all) but this has been baffling me and I'm glad some people agree. I just don't understand censoring for this reason most of the time anyway to be honest? Like I heard there was a time when people would censor Oliver's name so he wouldn't see their tweets because he apparently lurked (which is so funny, this is not an Oliver Stark appreciation post but from what I've seen I have to acknowledge that, that man is so funny) and that I get. If you try and censor a name to avoid people finding the post, okay sure.

But censoring problematic or supposedly problematic people's names has somehow morphed and become just an easy out for people who like to talk about someone who has done something wrong in their past (ie-is a human being) without needing to confront what them loving them must mean. Because it's either "I truly think this person is bad but I don't care enough to not talk about them" or acknowledging the fact that it's possible for people to have done fucked up stuff and still be good people after (which seems to be a foreign concept to some people, especially when it comes to celebrities)

If a post is about negative stuff a person did, you can censor it if you want but surely the context would give away you don't support them, and if it's positive stuff, then if you genuinely truly think "this person is a bad person" then buddy you're still fucking saying good stuff about the same person, just because there's an asterix in it doesn't mean you're not.

The only time I really get this type of censoring is if listing a group of people and you wanna make it clear that you're listing them for specificity alone. For example a group photo where one person is shitty, and you're trying to refer to that picture so you list all the people in it, and it's easier to make it clear you think someone in it is a shitty person without needing to write a separate explanation (which I would honestly never expect anyone to...ever have to but it's the internet)

Anyway, this ended up being way longer of a reply than I intended (and I've had a few drinks) but hopefully it made sense. 4 - Multiple of your people have been caught faking accusations about others. Canonseeker, a person your anti-RWDE crowd is friendly with for example took issue with me slagging of NAZIS on twitter. Pretending that they were "RWBY fans". I dont know why he stated that Nazis were RWBY fans but you should ask him that.

5- Your anti-RWDE crowd constantly use language or tactics associated with the alt-right. Lilith Fairen often weaponizes an alt right tactic when people call out racism/sexism, to them accuse the accusers of these things. Some of your people freely use the word "degener*te" which is HEAVILY associated with far right ideologies.

6 - Most of your biggest attacks have been against people of colour and sexual minorities. You dont go after chuds. for your last point, nobody has said anything about “wording.” its someone who, again, refuses to actually engage with an argument and just spout nonsense. but if were talking about wording, yes i would consider going in to the site and making unapproved changes, possibly causing issues for others but not having care whether it does or not, yeah i would consider that vandalism. i would also consider coy’s history of doing petty, immature shit with little to no concern for the consequences of their actions “disgusting.”

im not gonna tone police myself on my blog, ive said before that i will use hyperbole for humor, but when its time to be fully serious ill tone it down. i think that part of the reason coy especially has been able to scoot by any and all criticism is because people are SO intent on handling them with kids gloves, when theyve shown to be incredibly vindictive, even talking shit about a community they themself cultivated but then acting like they had no part to play in it

hi! love your analyses - I've been readin thru some of them and was curious to know your take on the rhett/christy dynamic and link/jessie dynamic?

smetimes I can't tell if they: r&c and l&j, are like begrudging friends that have grown to respect/love each other for how happy they make their s.o/best friend ? Or if they genuinely enjoy each others' company? or if maybe they're just straight up civil and that there's actually undercurrents of jealousy in their dynamics that make it harder for them to just like each other?

I know sometimes people just don't mesh well or their personalities clash or whatever but personally I'd love if they were all real close friends but I dont always get that vibe... (imo i feel like rhett likes christy more than christy likes him, and that jessie likes link more than link likes her but idk)

I have the same impression with you. The McLaughlins are friendlier to the Neals.

Let’s start from the clearest one: Link does not like Jessie very much. Or it’s not that he has anything against her per se but he is antagonistic towards her relationship with Rhett. It is evident in literally countless occasions how thin Link’s patience gets when Rhett mentions his wife. The clearest example was recently when he bursted out an “Enough with him talking about his wife!”. I mean, bruh… But it has been clear for years. From the very first seasons of GMM actually. Link also once admitted he wondered whether the height difference of the McLaughlins was a problem in their sexual lives. He often looks very uncomfortable, if not angry, when Rhett exposes some spicy details about his marital life. He has sometimes made questionable jokes, sort of questioning Jessie’s intelligence or skills. Rhett has typically been very patient with his remarks but I have noticed his annoyance is becoming more evident lately. Because lately Link has also made some bad jokes implying that Jessie could fancy him better instead. While Rhett proclaims himself not a jealous man, I believe he realises these jokes sort of harm Jessie’s image or feelings and he has started calling out Link more lately. I am totally with him in this. One contrast to all this was that in the past Link used to call out Rhett for implying fancying someone other than Jessie (like a hot celebrity) or sexualising Jessie a bit too much. This defense however doesn’t agree with the rest of Link’s behaviour and I suspect Link reacted in these occasions because he could relate (i.e he did not like hearing Rhett talk about celebrity crushes) and not because he genuinely cared about Jessie’s feelings. In any case, Link has repeatedly shown an attitude of disregard towards Jessie in public.

And now to the hardest one: Jessie. We will probably never know what Jessie truly feels for Link. And that is because Jessie has a natural predisposition for being friendly and warm. Even if Link acts shitty to her, she is probably more tolerant to it than the average person would be, because she really wants to get along with people. Jessie also cares for image and she likes the Californian semi-famous lifestyle, if i judge from her social media, so it is to her best interests to not oppose to Link hard enough to cause problems to Rhett’s relations to both. The best moment of interaction we have got from them is in an Ear Biscuit, when Jessie video called Rhett from her vacation without knowing they were filming EB. Rhett answered the call and Link was like trying to cover the screen and asked “oh my God is she naked?” (which is a moment very telling of Link’s jealousy bordering on paranoia in this case). Jessie then raised her voice saying “I am COMPLETELY clothed” and that is the best example of interaction of these two we have. I suppose Jessie might at times snap back at him but it is when she is provoked by Link. I don’t think she ever really starts it on her own. In other occasions, she has promoted Rhett, Link, and their friendship through her social media, but again this could have been for building up connections and social media power. In an interview, Rhett has admitted Jessie does feel jealous of his friendship with Link.

Now let’s go to Christy. Christy is a tough cookie. But I … don’t blame her. Christy is the most different person of the four. She is the only one who would prefer a quiet and private life in North Carolina. She is not interested in image or fame or celebrity life. She is also the one who still adheres most to traditional values, religion etc There are instances suggesting she is possessive or jealous of Link, like that incident when she flashed her wedding ring in front of somebody’s face in a gathering. She seems to be suspicious of Rhett and Link’s relationship. This is proven by things Link has revealed on multiple occasions. At times, Link and Christy’s marriage seemed to have its ups and downs and maybe some of the reasons might have been associated to that. Link said Christy accused him of hiding in his “Mythical Castle” and not caring for the reality and the challenges the family went through. One time, after Rhett made a joke I don’t remember well, Link got a little annoyed and said something like “My wife wouldn’t do that. She doesn’t even like you all that much”. Another time, Link described how he was explaining an idea of his to Christy, only for her to reply “Is this you? Or is this Rhett speaking through you?” Now, that’s a little heavy. It’s clear that Christy believes Rhett has way too much influence on Link and she dislikes this. I am not sure Christy dislikes Rhett for the person he is but she dislikes him for his power on her husband. We don’t have signs of Christy snapping against Rhett that we know of, but we have signs of Christy snapping against Link for Rhett’s sake. Christy is also a different personality than Jessie but she is bonded with her because of their shared experience to be married to one half of Rhett and Link. However, I have the feeling that if it meant returning to NC or Link becoming more independent from Rhett, Christy would cut contacts with the McLaughlins.

And now, to Rhett. Rhett does not dislike Christy. He likely sees a clever and strong-minded woman in her and he respects that. Rhett is a clever man and he senses Christy’s negative vibes towards him but he also almost certainly realises the reasons behind them. Which is why he prefers to diffuse the situation, lighten the atmosphere, let alone that he doesn’t like confrontations in general. Rhett did not bat an eyelid when Link revealed Christy did not like him very much. He knows but he puts up with it because he understands. However, Christy’s frustration is not important enough for him to back down from the influence he likes to have on Link. Or his bond with Link, anyway. In this sense, Rhett disregards Christy too after all, but he hides it much better than Link does. Rhett also has nowhere as thin a patience when Link shares spicy details, but he has his limits too. He still isn’t over that story of Link and Christy having beach sex lol. I believe, had it not been for their competitiveness for Link, Rhett and Christy could have a decent relationship of mutual respect.

*There is also a tale of a party some years ago, when allegedly Christy made a big fuss and it might or might have not been about Rhett, but as I don’t remember the details at all and it was rumours to begin with, I won’t draw conclusions from it here and DON’T hold me to this because it might be pure bs.

So when they vacation together or double date, I guess it’s mostly Rhett - Link and Jessie - Christy interaction. Then there might be some Rhett - Christy moments, if Christy does not feel challenged / threatened that day. More rarely, there might be some Link - Jessie moments, if Link is in a good mood enough for her to be able to humour him.

Anyway these are my personal speculations and conclusions. The incidents based on which I drew these conclusions are very much real, but I could be quite or not very accurate in my reasoning process. That works as a disclaimer I guess :P

The thing is that there absolutely are people who want to put Diana up on a pedestal as this poor little girl lost who had the best of intentions but was fragile and craaaazy and only acted out because other people (not the Windsors) manipulated her poor, silly self. That is what the Windsors are putting out there. That is what the press is playing into. Fuck, that's what William put out there. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Martin Bashir acted entirely ethically; but frankly, if it hadn't been him, Diana would've eventually said that shit to someone else (and she PRETTY MUCH DID to Andrew Morton, lmao). She was spitting mad.

And the thing is? She had a right to be. Diana was seduced into a horrible marriage with a man 12 years her senior as a literal teenager. She had two kids with the man, was continuously gaslit by him, his mistress, his entirely family, most of their social circle... She wasn't perfect, and she had mental health issues that would've likely existed without Charles, but lmao. The woman was emotionally abused by those people for like... her entire marriage. Which covered most of her adulthood. She had a right to be angry.

If you think that her reacting and acting badly in turn is like... less sympathetic, you just have a very black and white view of the world. Someone can be very kind to those in need and have a mean streak towards people they clash with. Someone can be serious about charity work and enjoy the attention. All of these things can be true, and these things all existing in one person doesn't mean they're suddenly shitty lmao. You have to evaluate people (and their behaviors) as individuals.

Idk, to me Diana being selfish at points makes me more sympathetic to her than I would be if she were just a long-suffering angel. She was a fucking human being. She was very loving to her children (and most children), she was incredibly charismatic, she genuinely cared about serious issues and did what she could to bring attention to them... She also had a partygirl streak (lmao the company she kept--Elton John, George Michael, Gianni Versace, COME ON SHEEPLE), could be self-absorbed and catty, and was very needy. She was super genuinely hurt by these people, and knew how to play her audience like a fiddle. All of this... can be true. I think she was, at heart, a good but complicated person. And I appreciate that. That's why I am so fascinated by her--she's this goddess figure in the press, but when you research her she's deeply relatable. I loved that they brought shit up like her calling her stepmother Acid Raine. Anyone who's had a shitty stepmom can relate to that.

A personal mini rant

Under the cut is just a small vent. Going through some things lately. I dont recommend having like 28 different friend groups, it sucks. My actual friends please don't read this, this is just to scream into the void at strangers.

Since I got sick like 3 or 4 weeks ago, I dont remember exact timeline anymore. My mental health plummeted faster, it was not the greatest before then and slowly deteriorating but it got worse worse worse. I have not had the support I needed from family or friends. Lets be clear I "make a lot of friends" but its mostly shallow and one sided friendships. Its "easy for me to talk to people" because I force myself to push down the crippling anxiety and I put myself out there as the butt of the joke making a fool of myself PERFORMING to be likeable. I have heard these things repeated to me by 8 different people the last 3 days alone when I was trying to get emotional support for my depression and loneliness. As for those 3 or 4 weeks. I had to be strong and supportive to everyone around me constantly during it even while sick I'd pop online and was helping people in DMs. A few people cared about my physical health. But mental? even fewer. Everyone thinks I have tons of friends that im beloved and have a huge strong support network. I dont. my "support" network consists of a "Well shit that sucks im sorry. So anyways about me-" for 99% of the people in my life. Theres the slim 1% thats actually there. Yet everyone thinks im so popular and lucky acting like I have no problems and if I do complain about problems its not as bad as everyone elses according to so many people and im selfish for even having problems. Im NOT. The "popularity" you see is because im the therapist and comedic f*cking relief. its not genuine support, its not encouragement. "but they react to your stuff with emojiis" Oh WOOOW yes, like they do everyone elses even STRANGERS. that doesnt make me special. "but they complimented xyz" oh so the occasional / rare compliment on somethings visual appeal like how HOT it is, makes it a supportive encouraging friendship that motivates and inspires me and feels good? Shallow temporary praise means NOTHING. Thats NOT friendship. I have to claw tooth and nail for anything in my life even to be included in hang outs. I have to INSERT MYSELF. Im never invited. If I leave a call 99% of the time im not missed or noticed or just get an "oh bye" yet everyone will worry over eachother when others leave saying they will miss eachother, asking if smth is wrong, etc. If I publically talk about my emotions 99% of the time it will be ignored except for the rare person like K, S and R. R who went pep talking EVERYONE one day. K & S who has been there every time I vent publically in my own server. If I vent in private it gets brushed over like "Shit I feel that way too, sucks for you" or worse I've gotten "you're so selfish" lately when I have said I didn't want to play a damn VIDEO GAME because I am mentally unwell. I will drop everything im doing and go through everything step by step with people pull out all my experiences to try to offer advice or support trying to find the right words to say taking it serious EVERY TIME. Does that sound like a fair equal friendship? When im supporting everyone elses emotions, mental health, dreams, art, writing, etc and I recieve 1% of that same energy back? Dont come @ me with how lucky I am says I get everything in life when I get ONE GOOD THING, I hear it EVERY time where as for me its a REPRIEVE from all the shitty things a RARE reprieve. I have heard this from too many people the past few days. Being in 25k debt as a household isnt lucky Getting to see 10 - 20$ of my 100$ a month isn't lucky. Getting 1k a YEAR isn't lucky Having breaking down old shit being unable to repair, afford to repair or afford to replace any of it, isn't lucky. Having to put in so much effort and energy into everything all the time in every aspect of my life even my family relationships, with no to miniscule and rare return, isn't lucky. Having constant disabilities and chronic illnesses / inherited illnesses fucking me up every single day and struggling through them isn't lucky. Okay, Mwee, as he grew up he pretty much already knew he was gay, but he was in a catholic city, with a catholic family who was very homophobic. When he was 16 or 17, he was kicked out of his house because his parents got confirmation he was gay (they sorta suspected cuz of.,, well look at him). When Mwee left, he took what little money he had and went to the big city !!! unfortunately that was all his money pretty much and didnt have anything else to do.,, so he became a roadside prostitute.,, thats not good! :( After not long, he met a girl named Bonnie, she was 18 or 19, and took Mwee under her wing, as a semi-guardian, lending him under her roof, but mostly as a best friend. Bonnie worked at a strip club (that's how she noticed him, he hung around that part of the city cuz.. where else). Once Mwee was of-age, Bonnie got him a job at the club where she worked, cuz even though he started when he was too young, he enjoyed it (again, look at him) after a short while, Mwee noticed a large male coming in often to notice him, who else but Enrico.

Popping over to Enricos childhood, he grew up very poor, with several siblings and two neglectful parents. Bastard had to fight to survive and be respected within his own household. This carried out to when he moved out, but quickly learned that thats not normal? People really dont like that..? Oh well, he didnt care. He just wanted to take what he wanted. He didnt care about others. Hopping from woman to woman, relationship to relationship, something felt wrong.. He slowly realized hes gay.,, He wasnt *homophobic* per say.,, he didnt care if other people were whatever.. but he didnt like the fact that *he* was gay.. To make himself 'feel straight', he went for smaller, feminine men, to feel like he was with a woman. He also quickly realized he didnt actually care about having a relationship.. he just wanted sex.. so he took it. Hed go to clubs or whatnot, maybe spike some drinks,, take em to the bathroom.. and, well I wont go into detail. After a while of this, He got bored as he often did.

He went to a strip club and saw someone.... interesting,.. he watched him often. Petite frame, long hair, (dyed) blonde, surrounded by girls, extremely feminine. Mwee watched Enrico right back. Though he didnt realize what a mistake this was. Enrico, one day, decided to hang around the outside of the club, where the workers usually left from, around the time it was the end of Mwees shift.

It makes me uncomfortable, just like it makes you uncomfortable to hear that there are sizable portions of people who believe the earth is flat. Now is someones disregard for empiricism directly hurting me? Maybe not. But my discomfort is rooted in the knowledge that many people have a sad grasp of what our physical world objectively is. It sounds less innocent when put that way, and I sincerely believe that believing in God isn't an innocent isloated incident. Ones lack of grasp on reality has to, has to effect their judgements and actions. How doesnt it? When our objective physical reality is in question due to a belief in God, they obviously have trouble making judgments about what this world is, what their minds and their experience are. All that is warped with this duality of God and man, good and evil, good and bad people, us vs. them. It's an age old mentality that I say is linked with the divisiveness we see in society. Yes people do bad things but I sincerely believe that misunderstandings come from this belief that even psychopaths included, that badness as a quality of character is not tangible, which links us back to a lack of appreciation in empiricism. Let's go back, someone's belief that the earth is however old itself doesn't effect me personally, but if somebody doesn't value the geology of earth, and they don't value the tangibility of God, chances are they won't appreciate science. I know what you'll say, that you know a scientist who believes in God. Two things. I dont care. Second, I'm sure they are outliers. Yes I'm sure unenlightened scientists exist. The human mind is interesting in how it can believe in something nonsensical and sensical at the same time. One can compartmentalize how the physical world they interact with during their career has objective qualities and can still have their heads up their asses with their metaphysical thoughts. Being a god believing scientist requires a lot of mental gymnastics in that regard that most of us dont have the capacity for. As a result, I'm eying the overall trends that God believing has on our rational and scientific world. And did I prove such trends exist? No, but such speculation isn't worthless. This isn't just a lack of appreciation of science which itself is a real trend, people do not understand how to interact with people with empathy I think because of the dualism I mentioned, as well as their lack of appreciation of thinking clearly whenever they make a judgement behind what they say or do to others in general. You can say religion is a side effect of a shitty society or something, but I'd say that ones comprehension of their physical reality and mind is imo directly connected with the shitty things they believe and do.
