Fakemon Challenge #14 - PAINAPPLE (Poison/Grass) The Carnivorous pokemon
This pokemon is based in Pineapples, more specifically the Red Spanish Pineapple, and the enzyme Bromelain pineapples produce. This enzyme is the one responsible for our mouths to feel weird when eating pineapple, as the enzyme "digests" the outer protein layers on the tongue and palate, leaving them vulnerable to the highly acidic juices of the pineapple. This enzyme is often used as a meat tenderizer.
Tumblr media
This pokemon, despite is colorful appearence, is a dangerous predator that only eats meat. Their saliva is extremely acidic and allows them to digest their preys whole, bones and all.
They know all the "acid" moves, likes a Acid, Acid Spray and Gastro Acid.
The long white needles in their hands working as claws are a reference to Raphides. Recently people has shared news of scientist finding this needle like structures in pineapples and believing they are the cause of pineapples hurting us when we eat, but this is not true as Raphides can be found in other fruits, like kiwis and grapes, but still I wanted to make the reference.

"Nature’s Pitfall"
“Northern Pitcher Plants (Sarracenia purpurea) are carnivorous, allowing them to survive in nutrient-poor bog environments. Here there is no rich soil, but rather a floating mat of Sphagnum moss. Instead of drawing nutrients up through its roots, this plant relies on trapping prey in its specialized bell-shaped leaves, called pitchers. Typically, these plants feast on invertebrates – such as moths and flies – but recently, researchers at the Algonquin Wildlife Research Station discovered a surprising new item on the plant’s menu: juvenile Spotted Salamanders (Ambystoma maculatum). This population of Northern Pitcher Plants in Algonquin Provincial Park is the first to be found regularly consuming vertebrate prey. For a plant that’s used to capture tiny invertebrate, a juvenile Spotted Salamander is a hefty feast!”

A Hybodus that I illustrated for an upcoming issue of the Steinkern Magazine under guidance of Sebastian Stumpf. Most reconstructions get the horns wrong. (image ID: A watercolour painting of a slender shark with serrated spines on its dorsal fins and four horns on its head.)

For any carnivorous kins out there: (including monsters and vampires and anything that eats blood and meat)
I haven't seen this suggested often but frozen berries may be helpful for craving blood and meat. Once they defrost partially they tend to be very juicy, and it works for me to resemble blood. And it's also vegetarian and most food restriction safe. Mixed berries work, but raspberries are best I've found.

One thing I really hate about the English language is that the word "predator" has been so commonly used for evil, terrible people that people think carnivorous animals are evil.
They really aren't. Herbivores are, on average, far more dangerous to humans.
It just bugs me.

We all know our dinosaurs, right? There are the two-legged horrible carnivorous monsters and then everything else that chows down on plants. That’s how the world works, right? There are herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores. Life has been governed by the same rules that it is governed by now, and by that, I mean there are no rules. The concept of herbivores and carnivores is to help out with organization but doesn’t really reflect the reality of the situation. Both herbivores and carnivores fall on a spectrum of greater or lesser herbivory or carnivory.
