💥 She can sometimes sense when your meltdowns are about to start. She just gets a feeling that something is off with you.

💥 Sometimes they're clear things like, you suddenly staring into oblivion, your eyes watering, your posture getting smaller, your body shaking.

💥 But other times the signs are more subtle and rely on how much she knows you.

💥 She'll notice how you slowly stop engaging in conversation, the confused look on your face, the slight twitch in your nose, eyes, or lips. She's learned all your tics over time.

💥 She'll lean in close to you and whisper, "Princess? Are you okay?"

💥 If you say, "I'm fine," and give her some poor excuse, she'll sigh but let you continue with what you're doing at least until something really noticeable happens--

💥--in which case Catra will gently guide you out of the room and to your shared bedroom or somewhere quiet.

💥 If you're the type to compulsively apologize whilst having a meltdown, cut that shit out, Catra's not finna be having you feeling bad about something you can't control.

💥 Catra will never complain about stopping to make sure you're well and safe.

💥 If you're the type to yell, or scream, or cry when having a meltdown, she never wants to make you feel bad or try to belittle you,

💥Catra's had her own share of meltdowns and destructive outburts, remember? She understands!

💥 You're not allowed to tell anyone, but Catra is really soft and gentle with you when you're having a meltdown. (And just soft with you in general, but it's not cuz she likes you or anything ;))

💥If you're on the verge of a meltdown because you're overestimated Catra gives this spine chilling death glare to anyone who's even a little too loud for her liking.

💥Catra has heightened hearing so if someone is annoyingly loud to her then she assumes they're being way too loud for you and either they're gonna quiet down or she's going to make their next training session a living nightmare. (Perks of being in love with your force captain)

💥Speaking of perks of being in love with your force captain, Catra always excuses you from any short of training when you're overstimulated or having a meltdown. Is it favoritism? Absolutely! Does she care? Not even a little.

💥Also Catra is fiercely protective over you. It rarely ever happens anymore, because Catra sent the last person who did it to the infirmary, but if anyone ever made fun of you because of your meltdowns? Oh baby, it's on.

💥You know Catra don't play like that, and she has no problem putting assholes who disrespect you back in their place {or in a body cast}

💥Basically, if your brain is making you have a hard time, don't even worry about training, the horde, or whatever, because Catra's got your back through thick and thin and will always be by your side when you need her most.

Horde Christmas

Word count: 588

(Y/N) = your name

Humming, you strolled down the hall of the Horde base. Your girlfriend, Catra, would be returning from the front today and you missed her. Night after night you would wake up alone, blankets wrapped tightly around you in a failed attempt to simulate the feeling of Catra's soft, warm fur against your skin.

You rounded the corner, pace quickening bit by bit. Catra always teased you, making snarky comments about everything, but the past few weeks, your days seemed to grow longer and longer, and the time before she would return felt like an eternity.

“Unload the tanks!” Catra's sharp captain voice reached your ears as she yelled orders at the soldiers around her.

“Catra!” You waved, breaking into a sprint.

“(Y/N)?” The cat-girl turned around just in time to catch you in a hug as you all but leapt into her arms.

“I missed you so much! How was the mission? Are you hurt?”

Catra only chuckled, rolling her eyes, but letting you check her for any scratches or injuries, as you always did when she came back from a mission. The first time you tried, she lashed out instinctively, and she would have scratched your eye out had you been even a second slower. As she came to trust you more, she grew more comfortable with your touches, and if this made you feel better, she'd gladly let you.

“I'm fine, (Y/N). Not even She-Ra can keep me from coming back to you in one piece.” She swatted at your hand playfully.

“Come on, Catra, won't you come cuddle for a while?”

“I just need to bring Hordak the mission report. Then, I'm all yours. Meet you in our room.” She winked at you, stalling you long enough for her to saunter out of the room.

*Time Skip*

'So, while you were away, I got you something.' You spoke, rummaging through all the stuff under your shared bed before emerging with a package. “Here. It's for you. Merry Christmas!”

“For... me?” You watched as her eyes widened. She gingerly accepted it, examining it carefully.

“Go on. Open it.”

Catra pulled at the end of the ribbon with a gentleness you didn't even know she possessed. Her eyes filled with tears and she pulled you into a hug, which you eagerly returned. You felt your back grow damp, and you realized Catra was crying.

“Oh, Catra. What's the matter?” You rubbed comforting circles on her back as she shook against you.

“It's just- I used to love Christmas. Everyone was in a good mood, even Shadow Weaver. And we would get the day off from training. I used to run off with Adora, playing pranks on Kyle, exploring the Fright Zone, going places we weren't allowed to, we had a great time. But then everything changed. Shadow Weaver started to take Adora away from me, more and more. She said Adora had potential, that she needed training, and that I would never amount to anything. And then, last Christmas...Adora left.”

“That must have been so awful for you. And Shadow Weaver's wrong. You were already a great Force Captain, one of the best. Now you're Hordak's 2nd in command! You have her old job and you are doing it so much better than she ever could. You are amazing, Catra, one of a kind, and I love you so, so much.”

Tears were flowing down your face as well at this point, even more so when you heard Catra whisper, “Thank you.”

I know it's not very Christmassy, but I don't see the Horde as a place where they really celebrate it.

Submissions are open!! :D Could you write a Yandere Catra who has some pretty bad abandonment issues (since in the show she really took adora leaving really hard) with a fem darling who loves to just explore and get lost but always forgets to tell someone when they leave?

So many issues, so little time… just for clarification, this takes place before the Horde’s destructions and while Catra’s in power. I’d like to think she’d go feral, once she has enough to abuse.

TW: Semi-Graphic Violence, Blood, and Possession.

“Where have you been?”

You cringed at the cruelty in her tone, your nails digging into your palms at the slightest hint of her temper. Sleep deprivation had to be the blame, or hunger, or any of the many things she’d been denying herself, since she was put in a position that would justify her doing so. But, the part of you that felt bad for her was swiftly overwhelmed by the sheer anger radiating off of Catra, layered on so thickly you could almost taste it. Even her control room, all shiny and tech-filled and important, hadn’t been exempt from her outrage, the redness in her eyes as telling as the claw marks spread across the walls. You wondered if you’d be decorated similarly, soon.

When you failed to respond, too focused on maintaining form and keeping your eyes on the ground to realize she wanted one, Catra only frowned, finally bothering to push herself away from her panel of monitors she made a habit of resting on. By now, you knew her well enough to see when she was trying to be intimidating, flattening her ears stiffly against her scalp before she circled around you, graceful and rigid at the same. 

Careless, but ready to strike you down at the smallest hint of disobedience.

“I tell you to come back when your mission’s over, to report to me and only report to me until you’ve received your next command. Lonnie and the others came back hours ago, and you couldn’t even handle answering your goddamn com.” She took a deep breath, gathering herself before she continued. A show of strength, but one it was more than clear she’d practiced. “I’m going to say this one more time. Where the fuck have you been?”

You grit your teeth, irritation breaking through the fear of punishment. She would lash out, regardless of what you did. You may as well earn the privilege. “I stayed on-site to check for survivors. I mentioned it to Kyle, who was supposed to tell you, and he obviously didn’t. It would’ve been a miracle if I didn’t get lost, but-”

“Of course, why didn’t I expect you to wander off?” She huffed, crossing her arms. Catra had positioned herself at your side, visible only in the corner of your peripheral vision. “This kind of thing wouldn’t happen if you just obeyed your orders.”

“But, I found my way back, like I always do,” You finished, more forcefully than you’d started. “It’s not a big deal, and it never has been before. Someone needed to do a perimeter check, anyway. Mine just lasted longer than I meant for it too.”

There was another sigh, another dramatized show of her frustration, her claws tapping against your metal armor as she leaned in. Catra was always touchy when she got like this, always leaning on you and clinging to your arm and playing with the idea of being affectionate, but never quite bridging the gap between playful teasing and physical intimidation. “Oh, so saving some singing, chatter-box princess is more important than checking in with your Force Captain, now? Perimeter checks are for morons-”

“Adora used to insist on them.”

You could feel her go tense, silence hanging over the room like a cloud of smoke. You nearly found yourself believing that she’d let you go, that she would realize you weren’t in the wrong, but the relief hadn’t even had time to take effect before utter terror replaced it. There were claws in your amour before you could process it, tearing and ripping and beating down blindly, too strong and too sharp to notice things as inconsequential as metal and wire. You stumbled back reflexively, raising an arm to defend yourself, but Catra didn’t seem to notice, only growling as a particularly hard hit landed on your chest, throwing you off balance. Luckily, the wall came before the floor, your back hitting concrete with a dull thud, but any dignity saved by the collision was ripped away from you when those claws came back, seemingly Catra’s favorite tool, today.

“Don’t say her name, never say her name.” Razor-sharp points brushed against your chin, threatening to draw blood, her tone sharing the same impulsive, unstable edge as her nails. “You should know better, you do know better. Or do I have to remind you what happens to traitors, again?”

You opened your mouth, but realized your mistake a few seconds too late. Four lines were already carved into your cheek by the time you thought to flinch, the fear setting in as soon as you felt the blood dripping down your cheek. The wounds were deep, burning as Catra’s claws lingered for a moment too long, the girl only pulling away once there were tears forming in the corners of your eyes. Your knees threatened to buckle, the shock more oppressive than the pain itself, but if Catra cared, she didn’t make an effort to show it. “You’re not leaving me, and you’re not going to ‘wander off’, either,” She explained, tilting your head back, only smiling as those violet eyes met yours.

“Even if I have to put you on a fucking leash to keep you in place.”

(Y/n) tumbled on the smooth ground of the training area, swiftly maneuvering past the cadets. She IS a Force Captain for a reason, multiple reasons actually. She may be clumsy from time to time, but (Y/n)’s battle strategy is off the charts when it comes to 1-on-1s. It’s as if it’s all natural, albeit unbelievable.

The Force Captain heard a cat-like growl come from her right side, so she pulled herself up from the tumble and sidestepped Catra ((Y/n)’s crush and co-Force Captain) with ease. The cat-like girl clawed at the ground to stop her from sliding too far away and successfully pounced on (Y/n).

(Y/n) was startled. Catra was fast, but she wasn’t THIS fast just a few moments ago. She peered at Catra’s smug smirk and sunk to the ground with Catra laying on top of the small pile. Catra accidentally slipped on her way down which ended up with the girls bumping their foreheads together fairly hard, hard enough to possibly even cause a slight concussion.

With a groan, grunt, and a lot of force, (Y/n) managed to toss Catra across the room. As Catra flew like a paper airplane, (Y/n) utilized the time and grabbed a baton that laid on the ground, whacking a nearby cadet to render them unconscious. They sunk to the ground dramatically.

Catra came back growling and swinging, aiming to rip (Y/n)’s hair out. The girl screeched, tipping over again. It was almost felt like the duo were falling in slow motion, as (Y/n) flipped them to pin Catra to the ground. She smirked and peered down at Catra smugly as if to declare her dominance.

“Enjoyed the power move?” (Y/n) poked at Catra, staring deep into her heterochromatic eyes with interest.

“Shut up..” Catra rolled her eyes sassily, averting her eyes to stare at the unconscious cadet that laid about 10 feet away from them.

“Hah, make me!”

“Well, you asked for it!” Catra pulled her head upward, locking lips with a very shocked (Y/n). Their blushes intensified together, enjoying the moment before (Y/n) was whacked in the back of her head by the same cadet she attacked a few minutes ago.

Catra pov

It is another annoying day at stupid school I really can't survive it here but I also can't get send away because that is also a bad thing. So I just start to graffiti the walls with a smirk enjoying to know teachers will hate me for it. The only thing that bothers me more then the teachers are the people that are such holy beans like (y/n). She never does anything wrong and if you hear teachers she is so perfect it just annoys me to no end.

So after a while of breaking rules I just go to a class sitting down and waiting until a teacher walks in again like every day. The thing I'm actually looking forward to is tonight. I'm going to a concert from my favorite rock band. The name of the band is the howling wolves and they are just awesome. But for now the day is still a long way to go. "Catra go to the principal." A teacher says walking into the classroom while glaring at me making me smirk. "Alright alright I'm already going." I say getting up before slowly letting my eyes wander trough the class. Most of the people immediately look away exept for the holy bean of course so I just smirk at her before following the teacher out to the principal.

It is always the same with Catra she just doesn't see that almost getting expelled on a daily basis isn't smart at all. I have a feeling that the next time that she goes that far that she is going to be expelled. But oh well I shouldn't be so worried about the girl especially since she hates me. I like her but I can't tell her that she just thinks I'm a holy bean but I'm just smart enough not to do anything at school. So I'm not exactly holy what she wants to think. But I don't really have time to think about things like that since I just have to focus on the lessons and after that go to my friends.

~timeskip after school a little bit before the concert~

"Okey guys this is the last practise before tonight so let's see how it goes." I say before we start to play again. I love being in this band and we have a concert soon so I just hope everything goes alright. "That was good so I think we are ready just take a break and rest a bit before we need to go onto the stage." I say to the others watching them relax a bit before I just walk around a bit making my way over to the stage to see my manager Adora and all the people working on the lights and special effects. Watching everybody work always gets me motivated to do my best. "Hey (y/n) are you already excited to play?" Adora asks like always being helpful and wanting to make sure I'm okey. "Yeah I'm really excited to play already and I have to say that Bow, Glimmer and Seahawk looked really excited as well." I say making her nod. "That is always good I just hope they don't go overboard like last time."

I just laughed. "You never know with those three. They are amazing but they do really weird things. But I think it will be alright as long as Seahawk isn't trying to burn everything down like last time." I say making Adora laugh. "Well that will be fine then I think." She said making me nod a bit "Well you get ready I will make sure everything is going alright here." Adora tells me making me nod. "Thanks Adora."

After a little time I get back to the others backstage. "Are you all ready to rock?" The announcer asks and the crowd starts cheering. "I CAN'T HEAR YOU." The announcer yells before people cheer even louder about it. "Well then here they are the howling wolves." He said before getting off the stage and we just walk onto the stage. "ARE YOU READY?" I ask getting loud cheers in return before we start to play. Starting with a song they all know.

Meantime Catra pov

I'm just done with school since I had to stay longer so I didn't get expelled. So now it is finally time to go to the concert and I'm really excited for it. So after putting on different clothes I just go to get Scorpia to go with her to the concert and look around knowing I'm a bit early. "We are a bit too early don't you think?" Scorpia asks making me smirk "That is fine now we can go to the front and have good places." I said dragging her along to the front.

Slowly people start to arrive and suddenly it gets crowded but thanks to us being early we have a good place in the front so we can see everything. Soon the announcer walks up the stage. "Are you ready to rock?" He asked making the whole crowd including me start to cheer and yell. "I CAN'T HEAR YOU!" He yells so we all just tell louder. "Well then here they are the howling wolves." He said before getting off the stage and the band got onto the stage. "ARE YOU READY?" The bandleader Blue lightning shouted making us all yell.

So when we all yelled they started to do a song we all know which makes us all of course sing with them and getting hyped up. " This is really amazing." Scorpia yelled making me grin "It is indeed. They are amazing." I yelled back while enjoying all the songs they played after that. I had some good tickets so Scorpia and I could go to the back after the concert. Which made me more excited since I was going to meet my favorite band in person.

~after the concert~

Finally it is time to meet my favorite band and I'm really excited. "Come on Scorpia let's go then we finally meet them." I said making her nod and follow me to the back where Adora was waiting. "Alright you two have the cards right?" She asked making me smirk. "Of course." I said showing her my card while Scorpia did the same. "Alright follow me." Adora said before leading us to the band. "Alright here are your fans." Adora said to blue lightning making Scorpia and me look at each other really happy. "Good well come over here." Blue lightning said and we just walked over. "Well good to see my fans. Well more like our fans." Blue lightning said pointing at the band and I just looked around before looking back at Blue lightning my eyes widening in shock. "Wait aren't you also (y/n) from school?" I ask shocked

She started to chuckle. "Yes I'm the innocent bean you always are annoyed about. Still think I'm really innocent?" (Y/n) asks making me actually blush especially since I didn't recognise her before this. "No you are right you are so much better then I have you credit for." I say making her smile. "Good well I'm happy to see that you're a fan of me." She said making me grin. "How can I not you have such amazing music." I said making her nod. "I guess so but there are people that don't like it."

"Yeah but those people don't have taste." I said making everybody in the room laugh about my opinion. "I guess so." (Y/n) said and I started to blush a bit. I always had a crush on Blue lightning but to know it is also (y/n) didn't help at all since I always admired how she could be so good especially since I really hate school not that I ever will admit that to her. "So now you guys are here why don't you just hang out with us?" She asked us making me smile. "Of course that sounds good." I said while Scorpia nodded "Yes please." She said like always being really sweet.

~Timeskip after a few weeks your pov~

It has been a few weeks since the concert and Catra and I have been talking more especially since she found out that I'm blue lighting. She now seems to like me a bit more. Nd my crush actually got worse thanks of it especially since she now gets closer to me and talks to me instead of giving me glares and looks in general.

"Hey you okey?" A familiar voice asked me making me turn around to say the one and only person from my dreams standing there. "Yes I'm fine don't worry." I said to Catra making her nod. " So do you have anything to do today?" She asks making me look at her confused before thinking. "No not that I know why?" I ask and she grins at me "because I want to do something fun with you." She said happy making me smile and nod "Sure sounds like fun when do you want to go?" I ask and she just smirks at me "Well what about now?" She asks and I just look at her. "But we still have classes." I say and she shrugs making me think more. "You know what I'm not going to care for the classes let's go."

Catra giggled a bit and I really want to hear her doing that more before she pulls me out of the school and along to a cafe where we get some coffee and hot chocolate. "So how does it feel to skip school?" Catra asks me making me smile "actually it feels good to be a little bit of a rebel at the moment." I say making her smile. "Good that means I'm corrupting you in a good way." She said making me laugh. "Yeah of course that is the case." I said finding it just funny how calm and funny she was at this moment instead of having her guards up.

After drinking something Catra dragged me off to a high hill which made it feel like it was a date but I didn't dare to ruin the mood by saying it. "What do you think of the view?" She asked while we were climbing the hill. "Nice." I said panting a bit making her laugh. "Not used to climbing so high huh?" She asked and I just shook my head. Before I know it she just picks me up and puts me on her back before walking further as if it is nothing. "How can you do this so easily?" I ask "Well I do this almost every day just to see the view." She tells me making me smile softly about how cute she actually is.

Soon thanks to how fast Catra can walk we end up on top of the hill making me smile about the view. "It is really beautiful up here." I say making her smile. "I know but nothing can rival your beauty." She said making me blush. "Wait what?" I ask making her giggle. " Is the most beautiful creature on earth speechless?" She asks and my mind just races trying to find an answer on that. "Alright let me tell you this I really like you and I'm happy that you want to spend time with me." Catra started before taking a deep breath. "God this is way harder then it should be." She muttered not knowing I could hear it. "Well I just want to say that I really care about you and that I would like it if you would want to be mine. So (y/n) would you please be my girlfriend?" She asks and my mouth just falls open. My crush for so long likes me back I just don't know what to do until I fell her putting me down and walking more to the edge sitting down and watching the view. With the way the sunlight reflects of her it makes me feel like I'm staring at a goddess. "Wait I didn't answer you yet." I said more to myself then her. "I like you too and the time we are spending together means a lot to me. So of course I would love to be your girlfriend." I say smiling

She just turns around a bit to look at me "I'm glad you feel the same as me now sit down next to me I know the sun is setting soon and it is really pretty to watch from here." She says so I just make my way over to her and sit down next to her feeling her wrap an arm around me to pull me closer against her. "To be honest I never thought this would happen especially since you are so amazing." I admit making her chuckle. "Well you are amazing yourself so don't pull yourself down I'm lucky that you want me too." She tells me and I just smile before pulling her in for a kiss.

After the kiss I just look at her with a smile on my face. Not much later she gives me the same kind of smile while also holding my hand. I smile more and watch the sunset, which is like Catra saud really beautiful with the view here. While watching the sunset I just mean my head on her shoulder really enjoying the softness of her body and how I can just curl up against her without her being annoyed by it.

After a little bit of time Catra just chuckles a bit "shall I bring you home?" She asks making me nod. "Yes please." I say before getting up with her and starting to walk down the hill happy that it is easier to get down the hill then ontop of it. All the way to the bottom of the hill Catra holds my hand and we just walk hand in hand to my house. Once arriving Catra pulls me closer and kisses me again making me kiss her back immediately not wanting to waste any second. When we pull away I just gaze into her beautiful eyes. "Thanks for the fun day love I will see you tomorrow again." Catra says smiling while I blush a lot from her smooth comment. "Alright see you tomorrow." I say nodding. "It was fun indeed." I just call after her noticing I didn't say it yet while she just walks away before I get inside my house and go to my bed to dream more about Catra having my perfect day with her.

Adora x Fem!Witch!Reader “Secret”

Request: can i request an adora x reader oneshot where adora discovers the secret that her s/o is a witch who was born with dark magic after her s/o defends her in battle?

A/N: uhh I guess this is set in like... season 4? 

Warning(s): Season 3 and on spoilers, mild angst, angst with a happy(ish?) ending

Summary: You’ve been hiding the fact that you can use dark magic from everyone around you, including your girlfriend, Adora, for as long as possible. Eventually, time runs out.

You’d managed to keep it a secret from everyone so far. You’d gone out of your way to not use your magic, even going as far as pretending you don’t know a thing about magic itself to throw off any suspicions. Granted, it had made battles more difficult than you would like, but you managed. It was tough but necessary. You need to protect yourself, even if your friends and allies seem to be more understanding than most. Being a natural born dark magic user isn’t something taken lightly, no matter how kind someone is. The reputation behind it will always follow you, no matter how inherently good you are.

So, hiding it seemed like your only option. It was safe, it wouldn’t risk you or anyone around you if no one knew it even existed. It went smoothly for a while, it wasn’t hard to keep up the act as long as you still had time to yourself prepare and keep your lies straight.

Though that was before you started dating Adora, A.K.A. She-Ra. 

Adora was with you a lot more after you started dating, and while previously you could manage your facade with briefer interactions, it slowly became harder as you spent more time together. You would accidentally spout out a correction about dark magic, or a fact that no one knew, something that hinted at your secret. You always brushed it off as something you’d overheard, something you’ve read, but your facade was on the verge of crumbling. 

You could only keep it from people for so long now, but what would they think? Magic itself is used by almost everyone in all the kingdoms, but dark magic? You saw how Shadow Weaver was treated when she was taken to Bright Moon. Even when she had tried to help others, she was still treated as an enemy. (Part of why is Adora’s past with her, you reason, and the fact that she used it to hurt others. But the other part is her dark magic, which probably only furthered the stain on it since she used it for harm, you remind yourself, and deflate any hope sprouting within you.) You’re sure you’d be more readily accepted than her, but there would still be the crack of distrust from everyone around you. 

Even if Shadow Weaver had switched sides, dark magic was still treated as a taboo, even if used in their favor. What would be the consequence for you? Not only for using it, but for hiding it? While not all dark magic is innately harmful, a great deal of what’s known about it is. For someone to be using it so naturally and as their primary source of offense... It wouldn’t bode well for you. 

Dark magic users are not to be trusted. Even while dating She-Ra herself you couldn’t be excused from that mentality that was instilled in everyone around you. You figure it will just be easier for everyone to continue hiding it for as long as you can, though a part of you knows that you’re slipping up more than usual lately. It’s only a matter of time before someone starts to get suspicious and starts snooping around. 

But, as it turns out, it never even reached that point before it was revealed.

You wake up alone in the bed that you and Adora share. Groggily reaching over to her side of the bed, you vaguely realize that it’s cold. Adora must’ve gotten up much earlier. Sighing, you drag yourself out of bed, sleepily going through your morning routine. You wondered where Adora went, she doesn’t usually get up before you... Maybe she had a She-Ra thing? Probably. While not often, she had been known to “sneak” (in reality she just didn’t want to wake you, she believes you need all the sleep you can get) out of bed to attend business that didn’t really require you. It was sweet, but sometimes annoying when you’d wake up to find out something had happened while you were asleep.

Finishing up getting ready for the day, you head out to go find Adora. Walking around the palace, you don’t find anyone but the usual guards (and Shadow Weaver, but you’ve made it a point to avoid her at all costs in case she somehow just... knows, so as soon as you see her you turn the other direction.) who point you towards one of the planning rooms. Huh, did she have a battle meeting after all? Why weren’t you woken up?

Opening the door, you find Adora and the rest of the princesses (and Bow, of course) circled around the round table. They all turn to you, greeting you in a friendly manner. Adora bounds over to you and pecks you on the cheek. “Hey! I just sent a guard to wake you, but... I guess I didn’t need to,” she chuckles, sliding her arm around your waist and tugging you to the table. Okay, that explains why you weren’t woken up. “We were just discussing what we think Catra’s next plan is going to be.” 

“Oh, okay,” you say, leaning into Adora while glancing at the map rolled out. Your eyes flicker around it, tuning out the rest of the discussion as you try and think. Eyes traveling around the colorful markings of the map, you follow the red trail, symbolizing Catra’s path of wrath, scrawled on it.

“What do you think, Y/N?” you hear Bow ask, and you snap out of your daze. 

“Huh?” 

“I asked what you think Catra’s next plan is?” Bow repeats kindly.

You think for a moment, absentmindedly tapping on the table with your fingers, “I think she’ll-”

*Boom!*

“-strike soon,” you finish, mostly to yourself as the palace shakes around you. You all sprint out the door, running down the halls to the entrance of the palace. Bursting through the doors, you met with row after row of large metal robots, all seeming to take aim at you. You all immediately jump into battle, Adora drawing her Sword of Protection. You vaguely hear her exclaim, and there’s a glow from the corner of your eye. Glancing over from the enemy you’re about to engage, you see Adora, now She-Ra, slicing down robot after robot, showing no hesitation. It’s admirable.

Taking out your weapon, you start attacking the robot in front of you, silently cursing yourself for your lie of not knowing any magic. Battles are now always much tougher than they needed to be when you couldn’t use your own powers, and it’s something you’re still getting used to. You’re usually taking down multiple opponents at once, but now you’ve been weakened to barely being able to take on one... There’s no use in crying over it now, you decide as you nearly get hit by a blast. You need to focus on not getting hit, not thinking about- is that Adora about to get blasted?

Your head snaps to the view you’d seen in the corner of your eye: Adora with her back turned to an upcoming robot, ready to blast her. She has to hear it, right? The clacking of its mechanical legs are so loud even you can hear them, but she’s not showing any sign of turning around. Panicking slightly, you let out a shout towards her, but she’s too far away to hear you yell. You eyes flicker to anyone who could be around her to help her, but the only person close enough is Glimmer, who’s back is turned- Adora still hasn’t noticed the robot, and to your horror you realize it’s about to send a blast through her skull.

You barely comprehend your hand coming up, a dark glow encapsulating it as you concentrate on the trickle of energy coursing into your hand. Allowing the magic in your hand to intensify, you thrust your hand towards it, shooting a black stream of magic. It surrounds the robot like a coil, destroying it as you clench your fist harshly. The sound of collapsing metal alerts Adora, (Really? That’s what got her attention?) spinning around just in time to see the inky glow of the magic fade from around your hand. 

She looks at you in confusion, and it only then dawns on you what you’ve done. Quickly turning away from her, you continue your battle against the other enemies, ignoring the dread filling your stomach at the thought of talking with Adora afterwards. You could just take some time to yourself first, come up with a good explanation to why you’ve been lying to her this whole time, and it would all be fine, right? Right.

“Why didn’t you tell me you could use dark magic?” Great. You’d tried to avoid Adora the best you could after everything had settled, almost immediately heading into the palace to try and find somewhere private to calm down and think. Guess you weren’t fast enough.

She doesn’t sound angry, but when you turn around you can see the tenseness in her frame. She may not be angry, but she’s certainly upset, and you don’t blame her. You stutter, trying to form a coherent sentence, but everything in your head is jumbled. Any attempts at explanation in your mind are overpowered by overlapping fearful thoughts about what she must think of you now. 

“I-I just-” you bite your lip, taking a deep breath. You slowly let it out, clearing at least some of the doubts in your head and sorting through the mess of words. She waits, eyes boring into you with an emotion you can’t quite place. “I-I thought you would hate me,” you admit finally, avoiding her gaze. “Dark magic isn’t... something people take lightly,” you vaguely remind her, rolling your shoulders back uncomfortably at the reminder.  

“So you hid it from me? The entire time we knew each other?” she emphasizes, eyebrows furrowing. She continues after a moment when you don’t respond, “Why would I hate you for using dark magic, Y/N? You.. you know I wouldn’t judge you based on something you can’t control.” The way her tone lowers in understanding makes something in your mind click; Adora didn’t choose to become She-Ra, either. Though it’s still different, you think, however similar your basic situation is, She-Ra is revered, and people like you are killed. She may understand, but she doesn’t understand.

Your hands come up to clasp together, seeking some sort of comfort from the slight edge in her tone, “That’s not how everyone thinks, Adora. I’ve met people who’ve tried to kill me just because I know dark magic. It isn’t exactly praised around here.” You pause, biting your lip, “You can’t blame me for being worried about it.” 

“That doesn’t mean that I think that way,” her tone softens, “You’re my girlfriend, Y/N. Using dark magic doesn’t change the fact that I care about you.” 

And then something else clicks in your head, that this is Adora. Adora your best friend, Adora your number one supporter, Adora who tries to empathize with everyone. She’s been there for you since the beginning, supporting you through every thought and decision you’ve had to make, and you her. Guilt fills you as you realize just how harshly you’ve been judging her, how little credit you’ve been giving her. You had just assumed she would be judgmental, even if that was the farthest thing from Adora. “I’m sorry,” you murmur, gaze lowering to the floor. 

You hear her sigh, stepping closer to you. She gently takes your hands in hers, “It’s okay, I get it. I just wish I had found out from you, and not from a battle, y’know?” she admits, squeezing your hands softly. You nod, raising your eyes to look at her, not expecting the small smile that greets you. Your lips quirk up similarly, grasping her hands tighter. The weight in your chest lifts. It’s okay. Things are... okay. 

You sigh softly, leaning forward to lean your head on her shoulder. She lets go of your hands in favor of sliding them around your waist, resting her chin on your shoulder. “You looked pretty cool back there,” she admits, and you can almost hear the grin in her voice, “The dark magic glow really brings out your eyes.” 

You snort quietly, hands resting on her hips as you nuzzle into the crook of her neck, “Thanks, Adora.” She hums in response. You stay there even after you’ve both gone silent, content being wrapped in each others arms for as long as you need.

Okay, okay, okay! So, we're thinking about our f/o (fictional others just in case. 😌) coming to our world, right!?

Now, imagine seeing Catra either at school, or maybe you're walking home, and you stop dead in your tracks. Now of course your brain tries to reason this away, "Holy shit, that's a really good Catra cosplay." You think to yourself or tell a friend.

Then when she notices you she smirks and waves you over thus making you turn bright red. As you trudged up to her nervously you hastily say, "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to stare at you like that, it's just...you look exactly like Catra it's almost scary!"

She laughs mischievously and steps up to you just a bit, "Oh, you really think so?"

Her voice sends chills down your spine because, "Yeah, and you sound just like her too..."

She cocks a brow, looking at you bemusedly, her tail swaying behind her, but you still refuse to accept that she's anything but a really clever cosplayer.

Your face flushed once more as you took a step backwards and you squeek, "Okay! Have a good day! Have fun at...uh...whatever you're dressed up for or...just have fun in general-!"

But as you turn away she slides to stand in your way and wraps her tail tightly around your wrist.

The soft fur of her tail, how organically it moves, and the feather like weight to it all point you to the truth, but it's still hard to believe.

"Either you have the most suffisticated mechanical tail in existence or..."

"Finally putting it together, princess?"

The revelation hits you like a brick. Her puffy hair, bright eyes, metal headpiece, soft ears and tail, hardly noticeable tuffs of fur like hair poking through the window in her shirt and the sides of her jaw, "Catra...?"

You hear a low purr rumbling from her chest, but pull away, "No, no, no, no, that's impossible!"

For a moment, just a moment, she almost looks hurt. Weren't you happy to see her? After all she went through to get to you, why are you pushing her away?

But as she notices the way your arms wrapped around each other, and how tightly you closed your eyes, she softened. "There's no other shoe, princess..."

Your eyes snap open wide, "what...what did you say?"

She laughs lightly and gently reaches for your hand, "That's what you said you do right? When something good happens? You wait for the other shoe to drop."

Your face softened. How would she know that? It was true, of course, but only your closest friends and loved ones knew that about you. You've only ever admitted to them your fear of good things, because good things have to end right?

"There's no other shoe," she repeated again and gently pulled you closer. "I'm here, I'm with you, and I'm not going anywhere."

How else would she know? How else would she know these things about you unless, "You're...you're really Catra?"

She looked at you with a coy smile and nodded, and then, she finally got the reaction she had hoped for.

You swung your arms around her, pulling her in tightly and nuzzling your face in the crook of her neck, "How?" You whispered to her, "how are you here?"

Though the memories weren't pleasant, and it was a hard fought battle to convince Adora and Glimmer to let Catra try this, they all knew how much Catra cared about you, so they all decided to work it out together. "Portal."

You pulled back, "but...but I thought the portal didn't work? Didn't you say it didn't work and..." You rolled your eyes with a shake of your head, "and that you almost destroyed reality last time?"

She laughed nervously and rubbed the nape of her neck, "Well...sorta." You laughed, the sound warming her from within. "The princesses helped this time, and...we were finally able to make a stable one."

You pulled her in again and admitted through running tears, "There's still apart of me that's waiting to wake up, that thinks this is just a cruel joke, that you're not really here, but-"

"I am." Catra finished as she placed a soft kiss on your cheek. "I'm here princess, I'm here."

Mostly music and other movies and shows that I happen to watch. I’m always likely to write more if I’ve just finished watching a movie I really like or if I wrapped up a show. Maybe that’s cheating, but whatever.

45. What is your all time favourite fanfic?

You know, I wanna say it’s Persephone by sunflowerb​ (because that is a fantastic fic that will forever be iconic in the HTTYD fandom) but truthfully the answer I’m feeling right now is The Sacred 28 by @wytchennstychen. It is Draco/Ginny fic with action, romance, angst, it has it all. Maybe I’m biased because I just recently reread it, but ugh I love that fic.
