REAL!! (also thank you!) I think it's something to do with that whole dynamic of the king and lionheart? It's a pretty compelling dynamic. like they're loyal to the core with one another but it's not so much spoken as it is shown.

They're both quite reserved about their true emotions, Nate's own reason for this being his job and Brad, I think, is also similar but also because it doesn't seem to be in his nature to really let himself be vulnerable with more 'mushy emotions'? (he's not very good at expressing directly what he really feels like when he was talking about his ex-girlfriend). He also tends to use sarcasm and such to communicate those feelings with the others (aside from Nate, which really plays into the trust between them).

Like, in that sense, they really get each other. The nature of their positions as leaders mean they have to hold back a lot and through the looks and gazes, it's like letting each other know that the other sees and understands on a deeper level. And like that speaks louder than words. They both see the human underneath and when they interact, it's the human underneath they're talking to and not the persona they each put up.

I like IEYTD. A lot. Probably no one remembers Cee bc I've only drawn her once😅 but she's technically an IEYTD oc (and I love her). I'm working on a little video with her atm which caused me to doodle some of the canon characters :]

Idk what you call it when it's a story based in the canon one, but totally derivative at a certain point? I've never really been involved in fandoms😅 but this is that.

To sum it up, Cee is a support agent who was assigned to work with Agent Phoenix after IEYTD 2 (when I came up with her). His vocal chords were damaged in the explosion (gotta explain the silent protagonist thing somehow), so they're basically a tag team where she deals with things like infiltrating events / dealing with people and he takes care of the behind-the-scenes stuff (so consistent with the player role)

I'll probably make her her own story someday, but until then I'm content with her existing in the IEYTD universe ^-^

So I’m a little late to the party but I just read In the Dark in like 24 hours. Maybe you’ve shared more previously, but I’d love to know more about Ezra & Birdie’s future. Ezra implied that they could really be together if she had stayed, and being that she couldn’t find it in herself to want anyone else in London, I really hope that they end up together when her program is over. Him coming to visit for two weeks is huge, but I’m clinging to little details — is it just as best friends? Best friends who sleep together? Now that Cee has her own place, assuming Birdie comes “home” to NYC, it would be easier for them to give it a real try. It seems if their feelings remain intact for a year apart (or 8 months) that it’s pretty real.

Anyway if there’s anything more you can share about where YOU think things land I’d love to know. I’m gonna lose sleep, lol. Thank you for such a gripping and touching story ❤️❤️

First of all, I can't believe you read it that fast! What an honor 🥺

Second of all, I have an essay on this! Buckle up buttercup, you're about to get a million things you never asked for lol

I sort of hinted at it in the epilogue chapter, but what I envision them being is sort of like best friends who sleep together. They are together when they are together, but there is no expectation that they would put their lives on hold for the other when they aren't - if that makes sense?

The connection they have is so intimate and real, but they are also at vastly different places in their lives. THIS concept is actually what I love most about writing age gap stories, because I feel like the trope usually gets twisted (or is assumed twisted by the reader before they even give the story a chance) into the older person taking advantage of the younger person. In this instance (and in everything else I write), it's really the younger person who has all the power. Old enough to consent and know their own mind, they have their own agency and seek out the older person for their life experience. Birdie was attracted to Ezra for a lot of reasons, but one of those was his competence and confidence, while she herself felt completely lost in a huge city. He made her feel like she was the only one in the world, in a city of millions. It's very soothing, with so much care involved on Ezra's part.

Before this turns into an essay on age gap lol (because I could seriously ramble for hours) here is a slice of the text from Chapter 11 on how this sort of dynamic would end up (I think) playing out irl:

Is that a fair thing to ask of either of them? No.

Not when Birdie is so young and has this whole life to explore, not when he knows she's about to be thrown into all sorts of different situations and meet so many other people, and not on his end either: sitting lonely and alone, while he tries to give her the space she needs to find her own way.

In the last chapter, he did say that they could continue seeing each other if she were to stay in the city, because of course they would. They have this undeniable connection, this chemistry, this love for each other - but on the other hand, they have been living in a very limited bubble. Just being together almost tore his relationship with Cee apart - what are the very real logistics of them spending holidays together? Of Birdie (maybe) one day moving in? Of merging their friend groups, when the people involved are vastly different ages with different interests?

Should Birdie come back to NYC, I can see her getting together with him again as a means to get her grounding, or as a source of comfort and familiarity. I can see Ezra as acting as sort of a guide in that: almost...parental? Like he did with Cee? Cheering her on, giving her a place to stay, welcoming her back into his arms because he has missed her so fucking badly.

Do they end up together in the end? I am undecided. I think their lives converge and split and converge and split and there is never any love or chemistry lost, but I just envision this sort of bittersweet relationship where they met each other at exactly the right time and they enjoyed it for what it was.

Something I thought a lot about (and I still do) is that everyone always wants a "happy ending" answer - and I hate to crush that for people because who knows! They could! She could come back and move in and Cee could come to terms with it and they could be this cute, amazing couple who never gets married (because I am firm on the idea they don't need/want that) but that spend their lives together.

HOWEVER, to me: Birdie gaining confidence through Ezra's emotional support IS a happy ending.

Cee finally moving out and gaining independence IS a happy ending.

Ezra learning that he can put himself first for once without sacrificing everything with Cee IS a a happy ending.

The HOPE held in the possibilities of what Ezra and Birdie's relationship could be IS a happy ending.

The HOPE held in the potential of what this means for all of them moving forward as individuals IS a happy ending.

Meeting someone who changed your life for the better, even if you have to eventually let them go, IS a happy ending.

The fact that you binged this story and you think about them and you are losing sleep means -- more than I can say. Yaaaaay it's my turn for fanfic birthday time! 🥰 I can talk about Frankie and Shiv all day long and I don't want to bore y'all - so putting most of it under the cut!

Just a note - I'm cheating a bit here. While the masterlist for Grays was posted in May 2023, the actual fic was posted on November 5 in 2022, but I'm only too happy to blow out 1.5 candles for Frankie and Shiv!

Grays' backstory is my favourite out of all my fics. I was at the hair salon one day, and the idea just struck me when I was waiting to have my hair washed - what if Frankie wanted to get his grays covered up, and his hairdresser said no?

The first thing I did, while I was still in the chair, was message @prolix-yuy, my Frankie soul sister and enabler. We pinged a few ideas back and forth, and the rest is history!

My favourite thing about Grays is the dynamic between Frankie and Shiv. I knew from the get-go that I wanted them to be not quite friends, with an antagonistic angle to their relationship. The fact that neither of them have thought about each other that way despite knowing each other since they were kids, and then being completely blindsided by the spark of attraction that happened over the forced proximity of the cut and wash session? It still makes me smile!

Out of all my reader characters, I would say Shiv has the strongest personality, and she's probably the closest thing I've written to an OC. It still blows my mind how loved she is by my readers, it really is the biggest compliment and I'm so proud to have created a character like her who stands on her two own feet, but is still relatable as a reader character.

As for Frankie, I just love the way he grew into his own in my head. I embrace the Frankie who's a bit rougher around the edges and has a grumpy streak, who can be sweet but isn't by default, at least not with Shiv. I love this boy soft, but with an edge, and Grays Frankie hits all the spots for me.

To me, Grays in its existence as a two-parter is perfect just the way it is, and I'm happy to leave Frankie and Shiv where it ended. I've really enjoyed exploring an extension of them via the Shiv's Salons drabbles, and most recently, via a crossover with Seams, which was a bonkers idea, but the response really blew me away! So who knows, there may be more from them in a Seams AU at some point in the future.

But for now, they live happily ever after, in every universe as long as they have each other ❤️ Thank you for letting me ramble about these two, I love love this fanfic birthday idea!

Relating to the Vlad's name thing, several other Slavic languages have the name Vlado. And Vladislav is not explicitly Russian, it's Medieval Slavic, bunch of Slavic languages have this name (Though personally I cannot for the life of me use Vladimir as a name because in Ukrainian, my native language, Vladimir is Volodymyr and is does not make Vlad out of it). Oh and a little fun fact that the research for names brought me, if one was to lean more into Romanian Vlad, Dani could be called Dana

Ezra and Cee are two beautifully synchronized characters

Cee spent her childhood keeping her private but rambling thoughts to herself. She is quiet throughout so much of the movie because vocalizing her thoughts led to abuse and danger. But that doesn't stop her beautiful inquisitive mind.

She writes and thinks privately. Let's her brain run wild. Thinking is safe, talking is dangerous.

Then she meets this strange rambling man. Eating up the silence to share strange unnecessary anecdotes. He is stronger than her father, he survives more and is capable of more specifically BECAUSE he embraces his own speech.

He is living proof that everything her father put her through was not only abusive, but it was also a shitty survival strategy. Ezra never lies to her or about her. He lets her run off and come back at her leisure always there when she needs him.

I think originally he started trying to provoke her to talk because he missed talking to people. He missed using his charm and silk tongue in the pursuit of a fun time instead of just survival. When she indulged him he found more. He found a like-minded day dreamer. Head full of pages and pages of unnecessary ideas. Things beyond survival.

He sees within her the hope he'd been trying to stifle for so long. She is a living representation of humanity's potential to go back to its life from before. She loves music, she is creative, she writes. Beyond that She's selfless and scared. She's so human in every way that he isn't. Parts of himself he started to forget resurface around her.

He keeps her alive and protects her because that hope is more precious than the money that robbed him of it.

They find peace in each other. I love them so much

Hi, I'm Cee (26) and I'm looking for a long term 1x1 rp partner! I have a specific plot idea in mind that I've been really wanting to do, so I'd love to find a steady partner for it! 🐈‍⬛️

The main plot I've wanted to do is royalty omegaverse. Your character has taken over my char's kingdom in war, and claimed the prince as a war prize. He is, however, a rather pitiful and very traumatised man. This plot can also work with your char being a prince. My idea with this story would be more of a romance story, hurt and comfort, that sort of thing. I'd also love political drama, troubles within your character's kingdom - or anything with a lot of drama, angst, and high stress emotions, really. Okay I am so sorry for taking so long with this. I’m gonna be answering #2 here and saving #1 for later. When I first got this ask, I didn’t realize how actually intricate it is? And because I need to explain my thought process from start to finish, you’re gonna have to sit through roads of me rambling. I um… apologize ahead of time.

The interesting thing about Gorou is that, despite seeming like one of the older siblings of his family, it’s mentioned that he’s probably the fifth son instead. Not fifth child, but fifth son. This means that he’s either in the middle of near the youngest of his siblings. When I first realized that, I wondered how in the world he became so dutiful and responsible.

Upon more thought, though, I came to realize that Gorou actually exhibits traits found in older siblings and younger siblings. No doubt is he dutiful, responsible, and driven (older sibling traits). But he’s also naive, feels pressure to measure up, and can be quite reckless (younger sibling traits). So what does this mean?

This is going to be pure headcanon and speculation here, but I imagine Gorou as a young child was very cute. He probably was the youngest for a good amount of time, so I can find the adults in his life and his older siblings doting on and spoiling him a lot. But I think Gorou would hate it. I honestly think he had a great adult(s) to look up to, so he’d want to be just like them. He’d admire how they’d take the lead, treat others, and also how they’re respected in turn. So he’d do his best to act like them, not realizing that all he’d accomplish is looking more adorable in the long run.

I can see at some point him not being the youngest anymore? Like either getting younger siblings or perhaps his older siblings ended up having kids? So he’d become even more strict on trying to imitate the people he looks up to, probably taking himself a bit too seriously. He’d do his best to be a role model, although I can see him thinking it’ll be simple and then getting completely overwhelmed trying to control a bunch of toddlers. HAHA

So to give you a picture, as a young child (younger than 5 years old), I can imagine him constantly trailing after his older siblings. Whatever they do, he’ll attempt to imitate them perfectly (often trying to do things much above his age bracket, thus causing people around him to panic). I can see him getting depressed when people coo over him, but when older ones in the village call out after him like, “Oh wow, Gorou, you’re such an adult! So responsible!” I can see his ears perking up and his tail wagging happily as he marches proudly after his siblings.

When he starts acting like the older sibling to children younger than him, I can see him doing his best to be mature (just like his idols!), and then it absolutely backfiring. He’d probably spend a lot of his time running after them and keeping them out of trouble, mediating fights, etc. No doubt he’d probably need peptalks from the adults in his life because he’ll eventually end up thinking he’s not good enough after not succeeding as well as he’d like.

At least… that’s how I imagine he’d be as a child. Basically, this kid that is trying his best to be just like his role models because he admires them so much.

QUEST: spy for dream. Objective: sneak into Quackity’s office and find plans for his casino’s grand opening.

(Just as you’re about to give up looking you spot a small trash can almost hidden behind one of the huge bookshelves. You walk over and dig through it. Under piles and piles of old building permits, diet Coke cans and cigarettes butts you find a letter. It catches your eye because of how crumpled it is, as if Quackity balled it up with as much force as possible. You reach down and pull it out.)

[ITEAM DESCRIPTION]

You are holding what looks like a letter. It’s been crumpled up and there are tiny holes all over it. As you carefully smooth it out you see the ink has smeared slightly on the cream colored paper along with what looks almost like blood. Several words and sentences are angrily crossed out making dozens of small rips the paper. Still it’s readable. This is not what Dream is looking for but it could give you more insight into Quackity as a person or maybe even give you blackmail. Quackity will be back any moment. You could read the letter, maybe get more favor with Dream and risk Quackity catching you or get what Dream asked for and get out of here never knowing what the letter says.

Dear Sapnap and Karl

Today they played Here Comes The Sun on the radio and I thought of you. Remember dancing to that song in our tiny kitchen? I can’t ever remember being really happy before that. Every other moment is dull compared. It hurt being that happy. It felt like I was burning. I could have died and gone to hell and I would have been smiling. I wish you would tell me what I did wrong. That’s not the point of this letter, I just thought you would like know. I know you both loved that song. Consider it a peace offering to deal with this like the adults we all are.

Sorry for, forgive my rambling I’m not used to writing letters to two people at once. So deal me and my mess one final time because after this you won’t have to anymore. It’s been twelve weeks since we last talked. Not that I’m counting. I just checked.

Anyway I assumed you both would want your stuff back. This letter will be taped to a package. Inclosed in the package you will find our your wedding rings. They were very expensive and I imagine you would want them.

Don’t worry I cleaned them. Sapnap that dent on yours is from when we where play fighting you bit my ring by mistake. Karl that K on yours is the one you carved into it. You made one in Sapnap’s too. So yeah I didn’t mess with them trust me. Or don’t. Sue me if you want but I’ll take you to court and I’m a very rich man now.

Sorry I didn’t mean that. And not just because threatening to sue looks bad In court. There’s a lawyer tip for you Sapnap! For that magic day you keep claiming is close. You know that one day when you kick those kids off our YOUR lawn and sue them for trespassing instead of feeding them and making sure they’re safe from mobs.

Karl. In this package you also will find your hoodies that I stole and refused to give back because they where big and comfortable. And they did look better on me by the way.

Be careful when you open this package please. (Even though I know Sapnap has probably already ripped it up by now.), some of its items are very delicate, I bought you guys some things for the wedding and it was too late to return them. So. I hope you enjoy. I would ask you to be careful again but I’m sure Sapnap tore through the package the moment he realized he was getting presents.

One more thing and then I’m done I swear. Fuck you both I’m sorry I wasn’t what you wanted Karl but in my defense I tried to tell you who I was and you wouldn’t listen. And honestly it’s not my fault you refused to listen. I am a murder. Your were right about me. But you knew that already. And Sapnap. I don’t blame you for choosing him. Really.
