Worked on my lit review for one of my projects 📚

Studied immunology (on cytokines ?? there are so many classes I feel like my brain is going to explode)

Dropped biomechanics 🥳🎉 (it's a math class that the teacher doesn't teach any math in??? word)

life took an incredibly hectic turn and I'm going to have to work most of this weekend unfortunately. I'm desperate to write though and I'm still hoping to find some time to get to the starters I owe. In any case — I'm super grateful for everyone's patience 🥺🫶

Day 6/20 of #productivejune - 10.06.24

Gave a statistics lecture over Zoom in the morning and had a call on the upcoming exam for it in the evening.

I started reading Cal Newports Slow Productivity and i love it! It resonates so much with me. I want to get slower in a lot of a areas of my life (talking, eating, working, walking...). And i do think it is the way to better knowledge work!

hi, it's been a long time since i posted anything. i'm now in my last year of my phd and i have to submit my thesis draft by april (!!) for my first round of corrections. i've been trying to be super productive this year, and so far i've managed to get up 5am each day and start working - so i thought i'd post again on this account.

anyway i also thought i'd share by bluesky and instagram where i upload my phd updates. my ig isnt ✨aesthetic✨ but more an honest record of doing a higher degree and going on fieldwork.

Day 12: Turning Papers into a Usable Summary

Today's challenge: summarize five tables in a table and see how they are connected.

📌 What I did today:

✔ Picked the five most important papers.

✔ Created a table of Author|Year|Methods|Key Findings|Relevance.

✔ Unintentionally built a family tree for the field.

Seeing everything side by side made it easier to spot where different researchers disagree. Would be helpful for tomorrow, as I will be identifying two recurring themes/debates in the literature.

1/30 Days "Back to Uni" Challenge

Q: What are your goals for the next 30 days? First and foremost, I'd just like to survive tbh, but I'd also like to start my PhD off with a bang by:

Defining my entire dataset (it's an Issue TM, okay?)

Obtaining at least one-third of my dataset (it's a biggg dataset)

Attending at least three interesting lectures outside my discipline

Enrolling in 15 credits worth of modules (a requirement, I'm afraid)

Signing up for at least one club and/or society (and going to it!)

Establishing an effective yet not overwhelming daily schedule (lol)

Finding out the next year's worth of events (it's up in the air rn)

I want to do a productivity challenge, but i will alter the rules for mine. In the past i never managed nearly 100 days+ i will only do it for workdays as the weekend should be for relaxing. (And we dont have to be productive at restdays!)

So it will be a 1 month of productivity challenge for june. Starting at the third of June. Maybe some others want to join me on it?

I will post every workday evening.

Didn't take a picture of the work-related stuff I did today, but here's evidence that it finally started raining! ☔⛈️ I'm really glad, the warmth was creeping me out.

I had lotsa meetings and more inductions/orientations today! And I tried a new recipe for dinner :-)

apparently people are already starting to babify Simon P again,,

that is an almost 60 year old man who lived through an apocalypse and the trauma of being suppressed in his own mind for almost a thousand years, who then had to be thrown into the future where he lost his lover and was left to struggle in an unfamiliar environment while he grappled with whether or not being present in time and sane was even worth it
