I've been sooooooo artblocked lately, it's awful. So I drew my ttrpg OCs from all over the place in fancy (or not) outfits referenced from Pinterest
And then I proceeded to forget to post it. Yay.
Short overview of folk here, from left to right:
- Claude from Wraith: the Oblivion. He led quite a miserable life and ended up in the Legion of Paupers, but not before spending some time as a thrall. He had only recently caught some semblance of a break. Yeah.
- Ruben, son of Aphrodite from Scion: becoming as gods ttrpg. He is pretty grim, despite his looks and heritage, but not without a reason. He's also aroace.
- Sharla, my Promethean: the Created girlie. Made by her creator to serve as a protector, she still fulfills her role – just in another group of people.
- Adlar, King of Summer in my Changeling: the Lost freehold. He hasn't actually been to Arcadia, but because he is a son of mortal woman and banished Gentry (so-called Charlatan) (a fact Adlar abhors and hides to the best of his ability) he is still technically a Changeling stuck in this whole changeling business
- Arcuvol, my good drow™ from DnD, because whenever I see some sort of evil faction I have to make a non-evil OC for it. (I'm never showing my Warhammer OCs to the world... Okay, they are still kinda evil when they should be). I was trying to make my own setting with DnD mechanics, but it's kinda dead now, so I don't know what to say.

So with the release of The Hedge as far as I'm aware we've have no examples of Huntsman from the writers directly. With that in mind I'd love to hear about the kind of ones people have used in their own games!

I do believe that if you have to ignore a lot of elements of the game you're playing, you should just play a different game
It's just that there is no game I don't have to ignore bits of, unless it's just a game that has so few moving parts and so little setting or no setting at all that it just doesn't do the thing
Ultimately the game I want to play IS the game I'm playing but the game I'm playing isn't the game that's written down because the game that's written down includes a bunch of stupid crap and what I'm playing is the Good Edit that only exists in my head

Character Spreadsheets - Changeling the Lost (1e)
Tumblr media
My most recent update to my character spreadsheets is for Changeling: the Lost, 1st edition.
I know it's out of date by now, but it's the version I still play. I think most of the character sheet can be used for either version, and the sheets should be easy enough to convert into 2e, I think.
As usual, I've included a safety tools sheet, which has Lines, Veils, and Lures, as well as a list of common safety tools that I use in my games.
I also included space to put detailed information about Merits and Contracts, because I know there's never enough space to write out what exactly it is your abilities do.
If you like this and you want to see more, I recommend checking out my full catalog of spreadsheets, linked below!

I'm not as familiar with Chronicles of Darkness as I am with World of Darkness, but seeing you say you have a Changeling: The Lost tattoo still made me, someone newly deep in the bowels of a Vampire: The Masquerade hyperfixation, geek out!
Changeling: the Lost and Mage: the Awakening are my favorite games, tied with Scion 2e.
All three are, at least the way I play them, about reckoning with how trauma changes you, how much you get to choose of who you become, and how much of your world you get to decide on and create.
(Hint: it can be an awful lot.)
One of the things I've discovered about Mage, too, is that it's really revealing to learn what people's power fantasies are, and that I really only like playing Mage with people whose power fantasies center around helping other people.
I've played Mage with people whose ultimate power fantasy was being the smartest/coolest/prettiest, or being in control, or winning at politics. I did not like that. I've discovered I don't like being around those people at all, really.
It's pretty interesting what RPGs teach us about ourselves.
Anyway, yeah, that's my tattoo!

parchment; favorite book?
Oof. Most of the books I've been reading at this point are tabletop rpg rulebooks. 😅 Out of those, I think the core book for Changeling: the Lost 2e is my favorite. Very readable for a rule book. Other than that, I am currently working my way through The Woman in Black by Susan Hill. I'm a big paranormal horror fan! Hoping to start the Locked Tomb series soon tho. 😊

Need to play my changeling character again, the campaign has been on pause because my group just wants to play D&D 5e so I'm just gunna ramble about her here. Her name is Rocksy Stone, because we have a long history of "X Stone" where the X is always a gemstone and Rocksy was designed as a parody of that. She was kidnapped by the fae around WW2 when she wandered off into the forest and was turned into a giant mountain and was literally and metaphysicly mined for all her emotions and traits, gemstones of "happiness" and "love" used to adorn fae jewellery or dresses. Eventually there was nothing left to take, and she was abandoned, believed to just be a drained mountain, the fact she was technically a person long forgotten. The thing with being in Arcadia, at least in our version of cannon, is it wants you to loose yourself to it, to embrace your role and become it in truth. After years in Arcadia, with everything took from her, that should have happened to Rocksy long, LONG ago. But when they took all the gems, all that was valuable they left behidn the stone, the rock, and her anger seeped into that rock until it flew like magma and became a volcano. That mountain walked out of arcadia with burning anger as liquid magma in her veins and she escaped. Of course, if you know anything about CTL 2E you know she didn't escape unchanged, the world she escaped to is modern day and she has no idea how to handle that and also all her fucking emotions other than pure rage are gone. She knows she /should/ feel them, but what is taken by the fae is no so easily given back. She has been constantly searching for these gems to recombine and become whole, so far she has fear, sadness, love and excitement. She got sadness after we did a short mini campaign playing as other characters and she got to witness her youngest sister, now old and feeble, get killed by the fae that took her in revenge for Rocksy escaping, learning in the proses that the entire fucking Stone bloodline is cursed. Love she brought from a hobgoblin in exchange for a bunch of leads on the story we needed at the time, and excitement was another hob that tried to pull the same shit, only for Rocksy to kick its ass because they weren't in the Goblin Market. Most hobs distrust her now, but she fucking got it. Fear was a fun one to get, like sadness it was given to her by a fae in return for her suffering something, specifically one of the other players is a spirit medium and was trying to negotiate with a ghost, the negotiations went badly and Rocksy, being the tank of the group, stepped in to defend. She lost her fucking arm in one attack. She still ended up defending Anna (The other PC) long enough for them to calm the spirit whilst the 2 other party members where across town dealing with vampires, but Rocksy had only one arm for like, 3 arcs whilst she studied to learn token making (magic item crafting) and crafted her own arm because she knew some rudimentary blacksmithing and wasn't going to accept anything that she didn't personally understand. Build wise shes very fun, not gunna go into all her Merits and Contracts but she has Giant merit, Spurious Stature from one of her Kiths and Transfigure the flesh as a contract, which each boost her size. All together with an average roll, I can become larger than a car. In addition I have Iron skin merit, obdurant skin from the other kith I have so far, and earth armour of the elements fury contract, meaning that once I grow that big I can add a bunch of armour to flat out negate damage even ontop of my massive health pool. Rocksy is a fucking tank compressed into a human-ish shaped form, if you piss her off you are going to be grappled by the giant hulking form and if you are lucky she will throw you out of the battlefield where you can run.

i am kind of in pokemon rp headspace now so uh....not sure when that will end. so my dnd fanfic is PROBABLY on indefinite hiatus rip
really gonna try for the vampire stuff in march though
i really gotta read hunter and deviant 2e books so i can work more on that cofd fic i wanted to do centering around changeling the lost but like tbh the mains of those were really just gonna be expies of my other ocs because i
i seem to only be capable of writing one (1) wlw dynamic lmao OOPS
here @arionwind get hype for future projects so i have motivation to remember to write them for the tiny audience that is you and vees (if you can properly explain chronicles of darkness to vees)
sorry if you were enjoying my one long form dnd fic that only has 2 chapters lmao

I think it's really interesting that in Changeling the Lost 2nd ed you start with two the higher tier powers making it so that expanding your contracts is only giving you more options rather than progression through stronger abilities.
I like that you can have a mostly realised version of a character from the jump and then can expand your repertoire from what makes sense for the character as you progress through the plot.

Made a new character for a Changelings: The Lost campaign with my friends. Their name is Wisp. They’re a Helldiver who sell dreams and memories in the Goblin Market. They don’t remember their life in the mortal world, so they stayed in the Hedge when they escaped.
