Because this came up in my life recently, a question:
To be clear I mean a spreadsheet in any program (Excel, Sheets, Notion) and for any reason EXCEPT for it being required of you. It could be cataloging stuff you own, categorizing characters in a show you like, etc. But it has to be something you chose to do without being paid or graded for it

Phreadsheets Masterpost
For some reason, I've never posted most of my spreadsheets on here so I decided it's finally time to actually put them all in one place!
Dan and Phil Videos: A list of every currently public video, separated by channels, including date posted, length, if there was a guest, and spon info
Time Between Videos: A list of every day since Phil's first video, with all currently public videos filled in on the day they were posted (good for looking at posting frequency, but it's super long)
DnP Video Stats: Includes number of videos each year on each channel, total and average length per year, with graphs
Deleted DnP Videos- Post Hiatus: A list of unlisted and deleted videos, with dates, lengths, and functional links to the vids (note: only includes post hiatus, most of them are ads)
DnP Tour Dates: Includes dates and locations of all 4 tours, and videos posted during the tours
Phandometrics: Tracks relevant tags' position on the Tumblr fandometrics, starting post hiatus
I'm going to keep updating these as needed, but I may not get to it immediately, so if I haven't updated something yet, just know that I will! Also, I've checked for mistakes, but it's always possible I missed something, so if anyone notices a mistake, please let me know!

New OC clones idea
His name is XL. He's average clone size, so people are naturally curious about what the name means. They ask if it's a dirty joke about his dingaling.
It's not. He pulls up some files. He's the quartermaster. He uses Space Excel, and it's not CALLED Excel, but he Excels at it. Hence XL.
His friends in two other battalions are Spread and Sheets. All of them get asked the Is It A Dirty Joke question and ALL respond with The Same Fucking Move (files).
This clone's job is spreadsheets and he LOVES it.

One of the things I do for my job every January is update a spreadsheet that contains all of the research my org has funded, and what the researchers went on to do after -- basically "We gave them $50K to study this disease and since then they've earned $2M in grants from other sources to continue that study." Overall we've had a great ROI.
But I took over the sheet two years ago, I didn't build it from scratch, and I had to modify it -- stuff like "separating researcher name into first and last name columns", adding a column for source URLs, a column for brief biographies, etc.
It's always had some formatting issues -- cells wouldn't align properly, or wouldn't wrap, or the row height would be truncated, and I couldn't figure out why.
Until I just took a look at the cell styles and realized that the person who had it before me, who was in finance, had formatted every column regardless of content to be either Currency or Accounting.
I'm gonna have to rebuild this fucker from scratch. I'm gonna have to copy the entire thing to a new sheet, paste without formatting, and reformat everything.
*cracks knuckles* should be fun!
(This is an example of how I am just Like That.)

This is a spreadsheet from Old Kingdom Egypt, written about 4500 years ago. It was part of the diary and logbook of Merer, an inspector responsible for the transportation of materials to Giza for the construction of Khufu's pyramid. There's something beautiful about the organization here, how his rows and columns would fit in just as well in Excel as any modern spreadsheet of delivery records. Across the yawning gulf of ages, we're united by this mundane and incredibly human task. I love reading things like this. They remind me of the fundamental similarity of humans across time. They were no less intelligent or skilled than we, and oftentimes had to be moreso, to account for the many technological aids they lacked.
I often hear people talk about how showing a smartphone to a medieval peasant would shock him, but I want to show Merer Excel. I think pivot tables would make him cry tears of joy.

There's this running joke HBomberGuy has in some of his videos where he makes a spreadsheet of all video games in order of which ones are the best. There's only like 4 games on his list, because it's more of an exercise in sarcasm than anything else. But to me there's nothing more relaxing than making lists and spreadsheets, so I decided to make a spreadsheet unironically ranking every video game I've ever played.
I tried to approach it with a certain level of structure by rating every game for the following categories: Gameplay, Story, Controls, Visual Aesthetics, Sound Design, Re-Playability, Quality Assurance, and User Interface.
Anyway, I've now rated 407 games, which is not necessarily an exhaustive list, but it does include everything in my xbox and PC libraries as well as other games I can remember playing earlier in life. And according to the aggregate scores, these are my top 10 games:
Mass Effect 3
Hades
Balatro
Baldur's Gate 3
Persona 5 Royal
XCOM Enemy Within
Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag
Saints Row 4
Halo 3 ODST
Spiritfarer
This is not to say those are my favorite games (though I do really like all of them). Heck, a couple of them surprise me. But they definitely rank highly in my mind in terms of overall quality.

Bump in the Dark is a Forged-in-the-Dark / Redacted Files game about monster hunters in a small town forgotten by the powers that be, attempting to keep their community safe while uncovering something... darker.
It's also the latest project for my spreadsheet collection!
One of my most in-depth character kits to date, this play-kit has safety tools, a run-down of character creation (with hyperlinks for navigation!) a sheet for each character, a Hunt page, a Pact page, a Keeper page, and a Faction page!
You can check the sheets out for yourself here, or take a look at my full library by clicking on the link below.

Screentime in Rings of Power
So, I keep hearing comments on which characters were sidelined, or what storylines were cut from season 1 to season 2, so i figured, hey, why don't I actually write this down?
So i spent all day making a rough spreadsheet:
My main analysis was seeing how the role of Galadriel changed in comparison to Sauron. But there is data on scenes with a main cast woman, how all the main cast screentime was affected, and how the hobbit storyline has changed. Feel free to disagree with my buckets. I just did this for my own curiosity, it is not the only way to break up the data, and it is not 100% accurate.
Conclusions from last tab:
I excluded the Galadriel and Sauron Backstories from the screentime count because I initially was just comparing those two characters. It is such a significant amount of time that the rest of the story analysis is very skewed with it.
My main conclusion is that Season 2 moved Sauron from "part of the cast" to Principal Antagonist. As such, he has equal screentime to Galadriel and has been given an equivalent length backstory
Galadriel is still the character with the most screentime in the show, and it isn't particularly close. Unless you count Sauron's backstory, but then season 1 is Incredibly skewed in her favor if you count hers.
As it is, Galadriel had double Sauron's screentime in season 1 -- her screentime was not just "being with Sauron".
Of the other characters, Celebrimbor gained the most significant share, and Elrond lost the most, so it is a wash for the two male main characters in my view.
They also replaced one main character, Bronwyn, with two female characters of roughly equivalent screentime. Hopefully they will beef up Estrid in later seasons to fill Bronwyn's original role, since Mirdania is gone.
Disa was also greatly expanded as a character, as was Earien
Miriel lost some screentime, but i think part of this is the battle caveat.
My battle caveat is that I wasn't chopping up each individual frames characters were in a battle. Any characters in battles have lots of screentime in the analysis. Maybe I'll fix this another day. So the analysis is a bit skewed b/c of this. Gil Galad i think mostly gained so much screentime b/c of this, not b/c he is suddenly in a ton more scenes.
I think the claims that the Harfoot storyline was *significantly* cut are a bit exagerated. It was cut, certainly. It is still a big chunk of the show. The Harfoot women are the women with consistently the most screentime after Galadriel.
And if you don't like it, make your own spreadsheet. I think i have some errors (I initially was only counting "nori+poppy time" so some nori only scenes might be miscounted), but it's close enough for a rough outline.

It is FINALLY done! After lord knows how many hours, here is an expansive Legends of Avantris ao3 ship spreadsheet
Keep in mind that this may not be 100% accurate. Some relationships may be added later, and of course the amount of fics each pairing has constantly changes (especially the ouaw ones), but this should give you a good idea of not only the sheer amount of ships there are, but also what ships are more popular based on their respective campaigns :)
The end results have genuinely surprised me (pleasantly or otherwise). Also, the Gricko & Frost one is an error that I am just now catching, and hopefully it shows the edit lol

Edwin Payne may be charmingly ignorant of most current technology, but if anyone took the time to teach him he would actually really love spreadsheets. Look at his notes and case filing systems. He would find Excel soothing once he got used to it, but given where he's starting from he is going to need help at first.
Unfortunately the current prospects for anyone being willing and able to teach him are slim.
Charles: may well have tried out an early personal computer at some point in his brief life, but probably not enough to be particularly skilled. After death, he hasn't exactly bothered to keep up with new technology when he spends his time hanging around with Edwin dealing with ghosts and magic. He'd like to learn this new skill alongside Edwin, but spreadsheets will probably never be his forte.
Crystal: Gen Z trust fund baby, seems to have dropped out of school. Only the most cursory acquaintance with spreadsheets. She will probably show the boys how to use a smartphone and the internet, but if she tried to teach Edwin a spreadsheet program she would reach the limit of her knowledge within five minutes. Maybe three.
The Night Nurse: she's a bureaucrat, but her supernatural bureaucracy seems to be exclusively analog. Even if she had the knowledge, she does not have the patience or the time.
The Cat King: would volunteer to teach Edwin spreadsheets, claiming he uses them when his role as king demands some administrative tasks. However, the actual lesson would consist of him sitting on Edwin's keyboard and/or lap and demanding attention. Not helpful.
Monty: The closest he's come to a spreadsheet is that he too attempts to make everything into a date.
Jenny: as a business owner, Jenny uses Excel regularly. She doesn't know all the advanced functions, but she is efficient with the parts that are relevant to her. However, no fucking way is she going to teach it to someone old enough to be her great grandfather who is also simultaneously a teenager. She has a headache just thinking about it.
Niko: with her excellent reading comprehension and neat room, Niko also seems like she would appreciate a good spreadsheet. While like Crystal she is also a teen who hasn't been attending school lately, one gets the impression she used to pay attention in class, so she had the opportunity to learn. She might well have a Google sheet to keep track of her manga. She's not an expert, but she knows the basics and would actually enjoy showing them to Edwin.
So, we have to hope that S2 will get made and feature Niko's revival from her current mostly dead state, because otherwise Edwin will never realize his true potential as a spreadsheet power user.
#i don't know if anyone else will care about these headcanons but here you go anyway#dead boy detectives#edwin payne#dbda#spreadsheets
