A gentleman by nature, charming and extremely lively – although in a more passive way.

Caliburn carries a lot of energy with him, being quite restless and a born explorer. Sociable and popular, Caliburn seems to be open-minded and doesn't care much about “status” or rules, in addition to often acting as a “mediator” and standing by others.

Despite aiming for the good of the people around him, Caliburn is quick to define his limits and is very strict with them, as well as not letting go of the idea of using light manipulation or blackmail to get what he wants.

However, in general, he prefers to be more virtuous, firmly maintaining his ideals and not being afraid to defend them, appearing to be a very courageous individual.

In short, Caliburn is a warm person, who genuinely seeks to keep himself and the people around him positive. However, instead of being completely selfless, Caliburn also cares about his own happiness and limits, and can show irritable and impulsive tendencies if disrespected (normally these impulses are controlled).

Caliburn is twisted from Prince Phillip from Sleeping Beauty

Most of his harmful impulses come from his curse, which connects him to the sword. Currently, the curse is under control because of treatments.

One of the Knights who protect Malleus in NRC, although he never shared a past with him. He was appointed to this role on the recommendation of his father, accepting this responsibility in search of a challenge.

Funnily enough, let's just say that his relationship with Malleus is somewhat turbulent.

Due to his curse, Caliburn needs to stay close to the sword. Thus being allowed to carry it around campus.

Caliburn is amnesiac, he remembers almost nothing about his life before the age of 14 and that includes his biological family. Even so, he doesn't seem to actively try to seek answers, preferring to move on.

Caliburn loves horses.

Caliburn is a very energetic person, constantly finding himself trying to expend energy in some way. In addition to his natural dislike of small or cramped spaces, Caliburn frequently leaves the campus without permission. (He's crowley biggest opp/j)

APPEARANCE

Caliburn cares about maintaining a good appearance, even being a bit vain.

His hair is mostly light brown, with some blonde highlights in certain parts, tied with a small red ribbon. His eyes are the same colour of an aurora.

His diasomnia uniform is a little different from the others, using the much larger coat as a cape, held to his clothes by silver thread. Around his neck he wears a purple ribbon and a golden necklace with a sword pendant. The shoulders of his shirt are puffed.

His hat is longer than usual, with a feather on one side. The lower part of his outfit is like the others, except for the presence of purple fabrics at his waist that resemble a tailcoat.

I’m a genuine believer that Vampire is ABSOLUTELY one of the smartest cookies and best strategists in the games with my basis being his “Insouciant King” costume in Ovenbreak, his leaked line for the affection system, AND the Sibling Rivalry? story in Kingdom

In the chess costume set alone, he is one of if not the best chess player in the lineup

Why do I say this, you may ask? Because Alchemist admits that she would need to make something new just to check him

And btw if you click on the highlighted “king”, it takes you to his costume, further emphasizing that she’s talking about him

Also, he actively implies he doesn’t need any sort of luck to win in chess and he’s skilled enough to dodge every check (or checkmate) from an opponent easily

As for Sibling Rivalry?, in case one might need a summary on it, the whole thing revolves around Vampire pranking Alchemist by acting as though he was “turned smart and motivated” by one of her potions and Alchemist doing everything in her power to change him back

What I’m focusing on is the fact that throughout the story/prank, Vampire was seen doing alchemical formulas and experiments, something of which he’d be unable to do as flawlessly as he did if he didn’t know the material in the first place

Also, the whole story shows that Alchemist feels threatened by Vampire actually using his smarts. It’s the clearest when her narrative says she doesn’t want two alchemists in the family:

(Also note: what she emphasizes is hard to believe isn’t him being smart. It’s him being DILIGENT. MOTIVATED. ACTUALLY WORKING)

So she’s well aware that if Vampire were to use his smarts, he wouldn’t only be as good as her, no. There’s a chance he could surpass her, and she doesn’t like that

AND THE PIÈCE DE RÉSISTANCE

One of the leaked Vampire lines for the affection system is, AND I QUOTE,

“I’ll have you know I was actually called smart as a young cookie!”

With all the previous things in mind, the line makes it seem like he used to flaunt his intelligence more. It isn’t that he grew dumber, it’s that he stopped flaunting it and began to hide it more (he explains why in the Crunchy Dreams event in the Gnome Uprising story. He likes to keep people’s expectations of him low so he isn’t asked to do anything)

TL;DR: Vampire Cookie is an academic and strategic WEAPON and it’s been shown several times except nothing is done with it. And it makes me sad because he has sooo much potential as a character, yet he’s treated like comedy relief in every line he gets. Also his own sister is his biggest opp when it comes to him actually using his smarts and I think that’s even more tragic

*Buck can't bring himself to unpack anything

* Maddie tells Buck to make new friends

* Ravi gets recruited to be Buck's new friend. Only Buck can't talk about anything other than Eddie (shout out to the confirmation that Buck took Eddie to the Lakers game. And shout out to rebel competent Eddie that Buck is thoroughly impressed by and will defend to the death)

*Ravi, in a desperate attempt to escape the Eddie fest, spots Tommy and sees an escape route

* Tommy goes to the table (side note: how did he look worse than he did before? How did he get even less attractive? Wild)

*Tommy asks Buck how he is. Buck info dumps about Maddie and trying to adjust to Eddie being gone.

* This is news to Tommy who tells Buck that Eddie stopped talking to him after they broke up (Eddie is the biggest Buck stan in the world so of course he did)

*Camera cuts to the little smile that appears on Buck's face when he learns this.

*Only after Tommy learned that Eddie moved out of the state does he decide to flirt (I'm assuming that was flirting but the actor sucks ass so Oliver and the audience had to do the heavy lifting)

*They go back to EDDIE'S house to hook up on a sheet less mattress on the literal floor

* Buck wakes up alone on the mattress (literally no one wanted to see the alternative so bless you Aisha) and finds Tommy in the kitchen where he has cooked breakfast

* Buck tells him last night was fun but he understands that nothing's changed. But, BIG SHOCK, Tommy is suddenly no longer concerned about Buck breaking his heart (but how can that be you may ask)

* Tommy attempting to sound jokey (again the actor is terrible so we can only assume he was going for lighthearted) tells Buck he's not too worried about it now that his competition has moved out of the state. This confirms that Tommy knows Eddie is competition where Buck is concerned.

* This confuses Buck because what competition could he possibly be referring to? Tommy responds by saying come on Even (his name is Buck you plot device piece of wasted space) don't make me say it out loud

* Buck then realizes that he is talking about Eddie. And his immediate response is to say Eddie is straight (the word straight becomes Buck's best friend for the remainder of the episode)

* Tommy, the GAY character, audibly scoffs at this declaration and says 'Okay' (at this point the GA would have gone...wait a minute the gay character doesn't think Eddie is straight hmmm probably something to ponder) look at the good little plot device plot devicing

* then Buck Buckley says with his entire chest out 'I DON'T NEED TO SLEEP WITH EVERYONE I HAVE FEELINGS FOR (opps accidental truth bomb) AND I DON'T HAVE FEELINGS FOR EVERYONE I SLEEP WITH (this was Buck basically telling Tommy he never really caught feelings for him, it was just physical so oops another accidental truth bomb.)

*Cut to our strongest soldier Maddie Han fresh from having her throat slit open (she looked SO good) trying her best not to lose her damn mind with how stupid her baby brother is

* Buck, and his new best friend, his declaration of Eddie's straightness, tell Maddie that he is not in love with Eddie BECAUSE Eddie is straight (good time to remind you that neither Tommy or Maddie ever said the word love. That was all Buck. Buck is the one who said love, and each time he did he denied it by saying Eddie is straight) The way he denied it was an admission. Hope that helps. Eddie being straight is the ONLY reason Buck gave as to why he's not in love with him. That's not a reason. Also, fun media literacy fact, any time a character is referred to as straight that many times generally means that character is not in fact straight.

* Then Buck admits that he only slept with Tommy to distract himself from the fact that he was missing Eddie. Maddie then tells him that's not a good reason to get back together with someone. Buck says he should probably call him at least and apologize (Tim later admits in an interview that Buck did not call him 'because he got busy with other things). So it's canon that Buck didn't care enough to call him.

In conclusion, anon, the plot device returned to tell the general audience there's a good chance Eddie is not straight, and might in fact be someone Buck is allowed to be in love with. Because the character the audience knows as gay is a better narrator for Eddie's sexuality at the moment than Buck is. Also the show cannot have Buck explicitly admit and realize he's in love with Eddie until the audience knows for sure that Eddie is an option for Buck. Episodes 9, 10 and 11 were all for the general audience. They were telling the audience to start thinking about their relationship differently. And not a single episode has been difficult to follow. They have made this very, very easy for everyone. Please feel free to keep clutching your denial cards, that's your right, but everyone else, including the general audience has moved on. They have opened the Buddie box and there's no going back now.

What’s your current opinions on the ch5 cast of tetro? Who do you think has a high chance of dying this chapter?

Honestly? I like them all!

I was Tamba's biggest opp for a while ngl, I was raking her over the coals for every murder case and had convinced myself each time that it was her. And I guess it was because I was salty that she got to live while most of my faves (Okazaki, Tsuno, Kazutoshi and Watari) all died while she scraped by not really doing much.

But now that there are fewer people and the spotlight is on her, I've found that I really do like Tamba now! Sure, she still irks me with her brashness and insistence on always being right all the time, but that's just part of the package deal when it comes to her. Also, I like how her lack of an arc has actually played a role in the story.

She hasn't lost anybody particularly close to her, she hasn't really changed her attitude since the start of the game, and her self-preservation has resulted in her fucking over everybody else, which is bound to ramp up the tension.

When it comes to everybody else, I like who we have as potential survivors! I kinda always saw Ken living to the end, especially after losing Kazutoshi; he'd need to carry on his memory somehow, especially since he was the only person that Kazutoshi ever really showed his vulnerable side to.

As for who I think might die...

There are only a few people it could be, so the cop out answer would be "anyone".

But I'm gonna go out on a limb and say either Ojima, Hiroaki or Mai.

I feel like Mai's death would be her ultimate (pardon the pun) sacrifice; she started out the game trying to protect everybody, lost her way after being traumatised by Kan, and now might see her taking the fall as the only way to protect the remaining students.

Ojima's death is a little harder to rationalise, though I think it has to do with the episode where he talks about how he feels he'll never grow up or something along those lines. If he does indeed die this chapter, then he would be figuratively frozen in time at the age he is now, never being afforded the chance to become an adult and move on from his trauma. Which would be a tragic ending for his story, but thematically consistent.

And Hiroaki, purely because he's undergoing his redemption arc and Tetro has a thing for killing off characters as soon as they're trying to grow and become better people 😭 Also because it would make him more sympathetic if people actually had to process their feelings for him and grieve, regardless of who killed him.

And I know you didn't ask, but I'm very sure Yanagi is gonna be the killer this chapter hehehehehe

As everyone knows, Thor is a very serious god. So he's your biggest opp whenever you're trying to irritate others mind your own business.

It was no secret when you two did interact it was never good. You kinda reminded him of Loki, and not in the good way.

It was around the time that your human worshippers were to celebrate you though, which is a grace period for all the pantheons. Every time it's your celebration, you leave for a bit to look over the humans prepare and watch the overall product.

On one of your preparation periods, Thor was supposed to end up causing a storm near your people; however, it was when we saw you watch over them that you actually acted like a god. You did not disrupt their work, insert yourself where you didn't belong, and overall stayed in the background.

It was this instance that he grew a slight admiration for you, to see that you don't always cause trouble. You didn't know he was there, why would you? There's a celebration to keep track of.

Your return to the gods after was no different from the past, all of them trying to avoid you. But this time whenever you got near Thor, he didn't seem to mind.

This kept up for awhile, until one day you decided to confront him. What changed to make him tolerate you?

"Heyyy there big guy! Y'know things been seeming a bit different lately," you tried to ease into your questions and concerns. "Is it the clothes? These ones appear to be more in style these days...Or perhaps my hair? I have always wanted to try something new," you continued to list off several characteristics that have changed recently while following him.

That was until he came to a sudden halt and turned to look down at you. Under normal circumstances you would be grinning, feeling proud of yourself. However, this time...you were nervous. Why? Was it because you were in the dark? Or was it that look in his eye that showed something other than irritation?

"Foolishness," Thor said before turning to walk again. You stood confused before running after him to catch up. "Who are you calling foolish!? I don't wanna hear about fools from a giant mass of muscle!"

You heard a sigh before he began to speak, "why must all be superficial? Good qualities aren't limited to looks, yes?" You could feel the gears start to turn in your head after processing him words. Your face started to heat up instantly.

"I...I suppose not," taking a deep breath you spoke again, "what qualities besides looks were you thinking of?" There was a bit of silence between you two, beginning to lose hope that Thor would say anything, he spoke.

"To be serious when needed is admirable..." there was a pause, "enforcing restraint, becoming more of an idol than a nuisance."

Upon hearing his list your face heated up again and you giggled, "I guess I am pretty admirable, huh?" You looked off in the distance before grabbing his hand, "it seems the days of irritating you are over."

Thor looked down at you, waiting for you to continue, "but my fun won't end here, I'll just find another way to entertain myself with you," looking up at him you winked and turned to face forward, content with how your interrogation turned out.

I really want to make a shifting affirmation tape for myself and give it try, it kinda resonates with me and it feels right. I’ve been trying to use LOA to shift to my DR but it has been on and off so that’s why I haven’t managed to get anywhere yet.

I just keep stopping myself with doubts, anxiety and horrible intrusive thoughts, I’m also dealing with depression and with a 3D that I just want to escape from. Sometimes I can feel at ease and think I’m already in my DR but then the 3D hits me and I just start spiraling with doubts and fear throughout the day, specially in the night (‘what if it doesn’t work?’, ‘what if I never shift’, ‘what if it’s a lie?’, ‘what if I’m doing things wrong?’… and I could go on with so many more examples).

How can I learn to trust and knowing it’ll be okay? Did you ever felt this way? I want to completely surrender because I’m so tired, but I’m scared I’ll stay here forever being unhappy. I’d love to wake up in my DR one day and act as if all of this was only a long bad dream.

If I start listening to tapes for shifting during the night, how can I make sure to not mess up with the process when awake? How can I stop feeling so anxious and trapped in fear?

I know no one can do anything for me but myself, but maybe you have some kind words and advice that could help. Do you have recommendations or something you’d do in my position?

If an affirmation tape feels like the right thing to do, you should definitely do it.

I always emphasize the importance of following one's intuition. Whatever feels right, feels good, brings you joy and peace, is what you should be doing at all times.

Having doubts, anxiety, fear, paranoia... Most of us have been through the exact same thing. I know I have. I shifted twice and I still get those nights when I'm convinced I made it all up and my mind is playing tricks on me and I'll never escape. What helps is just letting those thoughts flow in and out. The truth is, nothing and no one can stop you from shifting, not even yourself. People have shifted by complete accident. Anti shifters shifted on their first try when they only wanted to prove that shifting is not real. Imagine that, our biggest opps became a part of the community when all they wanted was to prove we were crazy!

Once you decide that you are a shifter, nothing will derail you from that path. It is inevitable, unavoidable, destined. It is done. Whether it happens this next second or it happens in a couple of years, it will happen regardless. And once you shift, nothing about this 3d reality would even matter anymore. Not how much time you spent trying, not anything that went wrong, not even your cr self would have any say in it anymore.

The best advice I can give you: don't give up. Everything else is noise. You owe it to yourself to see this through. You owe it to yourself to finally accomplish the one thing you've wanted more than anything in the world. You owe it to yourself not to give up on all of your dr selves. They are you.

Methods, subliminals, tapes, saturation sessions, meditation, robotic Affirmations... They are all tools to help you on your way. You don't need them, but if they make you feel better then by all means, use them. But at the end of the day, you only need one thing.

Decide. Stick with that decision. Don't change your mind. Tune out everything that's not working on your favour. You need tunnel vision, everything else besides your goal is a blur. Focus.

You already shifted.

i think besides the biological basis for ava not being human, there are a lot of social aspects of ava’s character that could be explained by her being a daemos

ava’s biggest and most inhibiting character trait is her antisocial personality. she wants to stay in her apartment all day, watch tv and avoid her friends’ calls. and you could just say “lmao that bitch is depressed” but CONSIDER. what if that disconnect with her peers isn’t just because of her depression, but something greater?

ava doesn’t feel like she fits in with other people. she’s insecure, she thinks everyone’s eventually going to leave her. finding out that lorelai’s friends didn’t like her was just a confirmation of her fears. so why does she have such an aversion to people?

i think ava knows she’s different. not that she knows she’s a daemos, or even that she’s not a human, but she somehow has this feeling that she’s fundamentally different from other humans.

does that REMIND you of anything??

it is SHOWN that daemos have a 6th sense for telling the difference between daemos and humans. in the finale, the main five individually sense that zex is a daemos before he even walks in the room. ava’s detachment from humans is her 6th sense!

in addition, i think this adds another layer to the way ava reacted to bullying in high school. in the flashback, a couple kids talk about how “weird” ava is and mention her parents. ava immediately reacts, shouting at them to “talk bad about [her], not [her] parents”

i think the surface-level implication here is that ava has likely dealt with a lot of homophobia directed toward her parents, which made her pretty sensitive to other kids talking about them.

BUT what if it was more than that??

what if the real reason ava is so defensive of her parents… is because she knows she’s not like them?

i’m not just talking biologically — i don’t think she’s insecure about her relation to her parents because she was adopted, but because they’re human and she’s not. this ties back into ava’s daemos sense: whether she likes it or not, she knows she’s not like other humans. this feeling, combined with her love and adoration for her dads, makes things very complicated for her.

ava has two truths that she can’t seem to reconcile: she’s not human, but her dads are. she was raised to view them as her parents, she has a parental relationship with them, she loves them, but deep down, she has this sort of insecurity that what she has with her parents is not what other people have. so, she cares about them, but she still sees them the way she sees every other human: not like her.

this takes me to my biggest point, which is the actual plot of MID — ava’s biggest character arc is caused by her friendship with the daemos. the boys are the first people that she really starts to feel comfortable with, as she slowly lets her guard down and comes out of her shell throughout the season

i think that, while the character arc definitely stands on its own as ava growing and changing for the better as a person, i also think that her actually being a daemos adds a very interesting layer to what would otherwise be a very run-of-the-mill arc that most introvert characters go through. this would mean the biggest reason ava could come out of her shell around the daemos was the fact that she was finally with her own kind

unlike the aphmau werewolf reveal (werewolf aphmau my #1 opp) i actually think ava’s character was set up very nicely for a daemos reveal! but those are just my thoughts on it, and i also don’t think that any of the obvious/canon stuff (like ava’s depression or experience with homophobia) can’t stand on its own without some big fantasy reveal, ava is first and foremost a regular person with real-world issues and i think those things can be just as valid to the story as the more fictional elements :)
