I redrew this the second I finished reading Chapter 139, so yeah it’s been some time. Sasha has been one of my favourite character for a decade and her death was devastating. But I look at this and can’t help but smile at this precious potato loving girl ✨❤️

The discussion about Jeankasa's canon status

This post is an update from this post here. I also refer to the same article again.

___ Mikasa's children are adopted: There are many fans who obviously don't want to see Jeankasa married and think Mikasa should love Eren until the end of her life. That's why Mikasa's children must also be adopted. The reason given is the bandage around Mikasa's wrist, which is supposedly seen on one of the manga pages.

Yes. It's true that Mikasa's mother gave her this Clan-mark when she was little. With the order to pass it on to her children. - But it wasn't said that she should take off her bandages after she has children. And then there is the question of whether she even wants to pass it on.

And look at the child at the grave and the child in Jean's dream. It's the same child. The man next to Mikasa can't be Jean: 1. The man is to tall for Jean: Apparently the man is too tall to be Jean. This picture is taken as evidence:

Of course, if I run on a sloping, mountainous landscape, then I am automatically taller than the person running one level below me. 2. The man is Armin: Supposedly the man is not Jean, but Armin, Mikasa's grief companion. Such images are used to confirm this thesis.

In the first picture, Armin's hair is being blown back by the wind. That's not a hairstyle. And the second picture shows Mikasa and Armin before the timeskip, where Armin still had this piss-pot cut and therefore significantly longer hair.

If we compare Armin and Jean to the man next to Mikasa... Which is more likely? That Armin stands next to Mikasa, who has a lighter hair color and recently had a short army cut, or Jean, whose hair color and hairstyle completely match his last hairstyle? Especially when you look at the proportions. Armin needs to grow a lot. Which is rather unlikely. The flower theory: 1. Mikasa's grave flowers: There are two different versions of the scene where Mikasa lies in the grave. In the manga, she lies in a bed as lilies. she has her hands folded in front of her chest. In the anime, Mikasa wears a ring on her ring finger and her grave is made of roses. These same roses are also on her chest.

The theory of the Antis states that the lilies in Mikasa's grave would represent her virginity. Qoute: They are chosen for both weddings and funerals and symbolize the renewal of the soul. They can represent purity, commitment and rebirth, so they are often used to express compassion. - Source These lilies could just as easily represent Mikasa's wedding to Jean. But it is more likely that they are grave flowers. The same with the white rose. 2. Flowers for Eren's grave: One theory is that Mikasa placed four roses on Eren's grave, which signify that nothing will come between them (the lovers). And yes. This meaning is also correct. This is supposed to be a sign that Mikasa won't have another man other than Eren. - Aside from the fact that this theory is a bit of an asspull, it's not even true. Those aren't four roses on Eren's grave.

The chasety ring theory: If you look at the picture of Mikasa in her grave, you will notice that in the manga Mikasa doesn't wear a ring and in the anime she does. Is that a wedding ring? Antis think it's a chastity ring. Unfortunately, that can't work, because Attack on Titan obviously takes place in Germany. The last date I could record was the year 850. So the 9th century. Source

Mikasa still loves Eren, because she still wears his scarf and has love lyrics engraved on his gravestone. Or that she had let burried her next to Eren, because she wants to be by his side forever... Jean may have realized that Mikasa loves Eren and respects that. However, he never made a statement that he would not marry Mikasa after Eren's death. I would like to see the proof.

But he often criticized Eren's behavior towards her. For example, when he tried to kill her as a Titan. So it's pretty unlikely that he wouldn't take his chance.

It is not certain where Mikasa was buried. You can only speculate, that her grave is next to Eren's. Therefore, this should not be presented as fact. She wrote the love lyric on Eren's gravestone in her grief. But that doesn't rule out a new love. And falling in love again doesn't automatically mean no longer loving the person who died. That's why she's welcome to walk around with her scarf. ___ Now that's how many theories I've dispelled? And on one topic. I wonder why people can't accept the obvious. Mikasa married Jean and had children with him. - Complete.

Mikasa doesn't deserve to live her life in complete grief and misery. And it's sad that people who claim to be her fans would wish that on her instead of her having a happy marriage with a man who loves her (Jean). It's not even a cute ship dynamic, it doesn't make eremika better, it's just sad, and Eren himself told Mikasa to not let it happen.

And to this day, I still never felt as betrayed as the time, nearly four years ago, when it was revealed that Eren caused his own mother’s death.

I’m sorry but WHY?! Why was that a necessary detail?! Why couldn’t we just leave it that Dina avoided Berty because of her instincts to find Grisha or something?! It went against everything Eren set out to do in the first place!

To confess, I’m not great at drawing eren.

Despite the amount of times I had drawn him, I still don’t fully get him. It could be that I’m too dumb or too much of a casual fan for deep analysis, but AOT has failed to conclude his character for me.

To me Eren is a deeply traumatized individual who failed to mature. He’s a self-righteous man child. But there’s also some ancient evil yadayada messing with his head that isayama couldn’t clear up it up for me, so at this point I still don’t know why eren committed rumbling.

Interestingly, this shows in my art HAHA.

Most of my eremin art is seen from armin’s POV, eren remains either a mystery or partially seen. Eren from Armin’s POV works better in my drawings bc he’s an incomplete character, a huge mystery even, he makes no sense to me sometimes, but above all he’s a symbol of doom and rage.

(“POV” is rather vague in illustrations esp when a lot of them can be objective. To me POV applies when the drawing leans toward one character’s bias, feelings, and how they see things.)

So, I took the time to watch the Attack on Titan finale today.....

I don't know why, because everyone keeps saying that the anime ending was a huge step up from the manga's ending. Jeez, has it really been three years since that dropped the ball?

So I decided I needed to see for myself what it really changed, I had the time so I forced myself through it, to see what exactly the big deal all was; mostly what was different, and what it did that was so far removed from the comic.

Well I gotta admit, I was surprised by what I saw.

The animation was really impressive, much better than what I've seen of MAPPA's handiwork from the rest of this season. The whole thing just kept going bigger and bigger, and it just never seemed to slow down. It's definitely one of the most impressive battles of the series, especially when so much focus on fighting and ending the Titans seemed to be lost after so long. Plus I forgot how stunning MAPPA's backgrounds can be, almost like WIT's. I guess that's what you call "peak" in the anime circle now, huh?

Levi......What can I say, he's an absolute badass, and the battle was worth it just to see him plow through Eren's army of Titans in all of his glory. Nothing can slow this guy down, and he definitely earned his ending. Sure he lost everyone who was near and dear to him but at least he can finally get some measure of peace. A much better finish than what the manga gave us, in its own weird way.

Was surprisingly touching to see the fallen Scouts again btw. Should have had Marco somewhere for Jean's sake, but maybe they can finally move on to a better place, wherever that may be.

Well the Armin and Eren scene pulled no punches, did it? XD Bad puns aside, I was surprised at how emotionally charged that scene was, Eren seemed really sorry for everything. At least he finally owned up to it in the end. Such a shame he was left with so little choice in the end.

And really, I realized how hard I was on Mikasa. She knew the life she thought she and Eren could have was beyond all hope, and in the end she made the right choice, agonizing as it was. In the end Mikasa really was too good for Eren, theirs is a love that was tragically cut short by circumstance. He couldn't help it, she couldn't help it.......Eremika truly is an unsung Shakespearean tragedy.

Oh don't you worry Eren, I'm sure she was thinking of you well beyond ten years. Who could fault her? We all know you meant well....

So........now everyone's saying it took two thousand years if not more for this to happen, huh? Well I guess that sort of makes up for it.....At least nobody we knew and loved lived to see it, right? I guess we can stop blaming Eren for whatever brought this upon Paradis, right?

Well, whatever the case may be, after finally seeing it I can say the anime ending makes up for a lot of what the manga left hanging. Great animation, such raw emotions, the insane music.......It was a long slog, but I'm glad I was proven wrong about everything I have said since the manga ending came out. This really helped to tie everything together much better, made the loss of such a wondrous cast a little easier to swallow. In the end, they gave their hearts, and in the end, it's much better to feeling something than to feel nothing.

So kudos to Studio MAPPA, and kudos to Hajime Isayama, truly I underestimated you. I feel like seeing this animated opened my eyes to so much of what I thought was missing. Suddenly things are so much clearer. Now.......Now I understand.......Eren only did what had to be done. Well played Mr. Isayama, well played.

And with that, I just want to leave with a quick shoutout to the true GOAT of Attack on Titan..........

It wasn't really stated when Eren developed feelings for Mikasa, honesty that confession scene with Armin felt forced.

And I always thought and saw Eren as being dense on romance in general. More interesting in fighting and killing than looking at girls

Yeah exactly. One of my main gripes with the shitty rushed finale is this out of nowhere love that Eren allegedly has for Mikasa.

Where did it come from? Where were the hints? How can you possibly tell me that he loved her romantically?

Don't get me wrong I don't think two characters have to aggressively blush at each other for 3 seasons straight before believing they like one another, but this plot twist is bullshit.

After the time skip Eren got more and more distant from his friends as a result of his future memories and the genocide he was destined to commit. He knew Armin and Mikasa wouldn't understand him, so he kept them at arm's length.

When it comes to Mikasa in particular, he showed a lot of irritation towards her, for how she constantly babied him throughout their lives.

I mean come on have you read chapter 112?

( I know he didn't mean it, but still, that's a pretty fucked up thing to say to a person you love.)

Trust is also one of the most important aspects of any relationship. And Eren never trusted Armin and Mikasa with pretty much anything post time skip, which is specifically why he pushed them away!

His love for her has always been platonic, so much so that in an interview from a few years ago Isayama said that their relationship was similar to that of a mother with her child.

But I guess Yams kinda forgot how Eremika worked for 130+ chapters uh?

That confession scene wasn't just forced, it was pathetic. It completely erased who Eren was as a character and replaced him with the cheapest copy on sale at Walmart.

(It's been three years and I'm still salty about that panel how is that possible?)

When it comes to Eren and the concept of romance, well.. Yeah pre time skip he was kinda dense, in the typical Shonen protagonist way, buut after the time jump you can clearly see that it's no longer the case from the convo with Falco in Liberio. Pre time skip Eren would have never reached that conclusion.

(Wow, it's almost as if he understands Falco's struggle of not wanting a girl he loves getting titanized, I wonder if it's supposed to mean anything, uhhh.)

He could've just had Historia turn into a titan shifter and then they could start the rumbling.

I mean I guess its so that their friends don't kill Historia to stop the rumbling but like Eren had full control of the founding titan he could have prevented that; actually they wouldn't even need to kill her they just need to separate her from Eren.

Avoid the obvious. - The Jeankasa discussion

I'm basing my contribution on this article here because it picks up on the theories I've already heard and has a few new ones up its sleeve. ~*~ The first big discussion sparked this picture:

Mikasa is seen visiting Eren's grave, with a man and child with her. Judging by his clothes and hairstyle, one could assume that this man is Jean. The Child is adoptet-Theory: The first thing that comes to mind when I see Mikasa with a man and children is: She is married and has children. But there are also people who actually believe that Mikasa got the baby from Historia's orphanage... I can't really refute it. So I'll leave it like that.

This scene has now been animated in a fairly small format. But you can see the color of the hair and the color of the suit. Here, too, it is easy to conclude that it is Jean.

The Man is to tall to be Jean-Theory: Based on the second scene, in which the man runs across the hills with Mikasa, he is estimated to be a little taller than Jean. You can see from the grave scene in the manga, that the man is exactly Jean's size. Especially because the man appears taller in one scene, because the landscape is sloping and he is therefore walking on a higher level like Mikasa and therefore appears a bit taller.

Jean and Armin. Who will you choose then? Someone who has this hairstyle naturally or someone who doesn't usually have this hairstyle except in a picture?

Especially because Armin must have had a really big growth spurt to be Jean's size. But fine. Let's play a round of "Choose the Color":

Mikasa only rejected him, because she was in love with Eren and he accepted that too. But Eren is dead. Why shouldn't he be allowed to marry Mikasa? In the AOT-Guidebook it´s stated that Mikasa's martial status is single: When is the book from and how old was Mikasa? Prove please. Mikasa loves Eren because of what is written on Eren's grave, her scarf, because she let herself be buried next to Eren, and so further: I don't understand this concept of "just one or the other". Just because Mikasa loves Jean and has a family with him doesn't mean she has to give up her feelings for Eren. She is still allowed to mourn him, think about him and talk about him with others? I don't understand how things like this are always taken as evidence of "Mikasa only loves Ereh." And Mikasa can be happy without Jean, but she can also be happy with Jean. So why does the obvious always have to be downplayed? WHY Mikasa has to be with no one exept EREN? Her hidden Bandages: Why should the bandages be evidence that Mikasa didn't pass the symbol on them to her children? Maybe she doesn't want to present the symbol to everyone. Maybe she doesn't want to pass it on to her children? Maybe she had already passed it on to her "adopted" children and still covered her arms? How do you know that those in the picture are even bandages?

~*~ It makes sense that Mikasa is married to Jean and has children. Family has always been very important to Mikasa. Especially because she lost her family twice. It was only thanks to Eren that she threw herself into the fight against the Titans. As you could tell from her dream with Eren, she preferred a simple life to fighting. She cut her hair, because Eren wanted it that way. It was supposed to protect her from the Titans. Jean, on the other hand, found this so beautiful about her. Anyone who wasn't struck with blindness could clearly see that Jean was in love with Mikasa and knew that his feelings were not reciprocated. But this certainly changed after Eren's death. Jean also dreamed of having a family with Mikasa and the child in Mikasa's arms looks a lot like a baby.

It is quite logical to conclude from this dream that there is a real wedding. Why would Isayama bother to draw a family when it really isn't a family? Then he could have easily drawn Mikasa alone at Eren's grave. But he didn't. Mikasa is married and the first candidate for a husband would be Jean. Not Armin, not Farmer-Kun or some random guy.
