This is a pretty good point in the wip to share this, methinks :]
Map part for the hole dwelling map, starring... Not my ocs! I wanted to use ocs, but I don't have any-- so I just used the characters from a fic I was reading at the time 😂
Turns out, the symbolism was so much fun to twist into the 11 seconds I had to work with, I ended up going way more complex than I meant to. If you wanna read the fic this was based on, please do!! And tell the author I said hi! :D

It’s WIP Wednesday!
This fic is going to be… longer than I anticipated.
TW for threats and references to hate crimes. I’m not sure if it would count as worse than in the books, but I want to be sure.
Tumblr media
Fun Fic Fact of the day is that, despite the prologue being from Nick’s point of view, the whole rest of the fic is narrated by Her Royal Majesty Bree Matthews!

wip wednesday
finally started working on already spoken for again, but got so into it i’ve had to split that last chapter into two - here’s a snippet from part 4 which should be out over the weekend
“You’re lovely together,” Shirley suddenly said. “I wasn’t sure at first. But you both seem good for one another, or at least you seem good for him.”
You watched her for a moment, how her gaze fluttered over the crowd instead of staying on you as she sipped at her drink. Hair of the dog for Shirl too it seemed.
“Thank you.” You smiled genuinely when she looked at you out of the corner of her eye. You didn’t linger on the moment. “Lizzy not attending?”
Shirley sighed, happy for the topic change. She leant in close and kept her gaze shrewd for any listening ears. “Too hung over to even get out of bed after yesterday evening. God knows what people will think by tomorrow if she doesn’t pull it together.”
“Oh I simply couldn’t imagine,” you simpered along with a smirk.

You know me… twilight turns 😔
This got me to work on it for a solid half hour thank youuuuu 🥺 I will give you a wip as thanks:
“Well. Guess I owe the little furball,” she admits, and leans on Link’s shoulder. “I could direct my appreciation elsewhere, though. Did I ever thank you for that, by the way?”
“For dragging you to the princess?” Link says with a faint smile, and Midna shakes her head.
“No. For saving my life.”
Link blinks, staring at her, then gives an awkward little shrug.
“Zelda did the saving,” he says, shifting his weight. Is he blushing? Spirits he’s adorable. “All I did was bring you to her.”
“Which in turn saved my life, and also got me back to my true form, which I have never been more grateful for,” Midna argues back, and takes his face in her hands. “Zelda did save my life, and I will forever be grateful to her. But you did too.”
“But—”
Midna rolls her eyes and presses her lips to his, effectively cutting off whatever argument was about to form on them.

WIP Wednesday
(and I’m actually doing it on Wednesday, holy shit)
Tagged by @serensama, thank you!
This is what I was working on last night, the third chapter of my Rookanis longfic that I really should choose a title for already. It’s set nine years before Veilguard, after young Wren confesses to her friend Lucanis that she may have fucked up hard enough to get kicked out of the Crows.
Wren waited ten minutes on the roof after Viago left, watching the eastern storm loom higher over the city. It was getting too close to be sitting on a rooftop; she had slung enough lightning magic to know she didn’t want to be struck by it, but she also didn’t want to run into Viago just yet. She was glad he had seen sense in the end, but she had come too close to losing everything, to losing him. As infuriating as he could be, she thought of him as family. She had lost enough family for one lifetime.
She found Lucanis waiting in a shadowy alley, sheltered underneath an archway as the first fat raindrops splattered on the flagstones. “Well?” he asked. “I saw Viago leave a while ago…”
“Things are fine,” Wren said, a little surprised that he was actually worried about her. “He cancelled the contract. I got a talking to, but he didn’t kick me out.”
For one wild second, she thought he was going to hug her, and the thought of it certainly wasn’t unwelcome. But he just held her by the shoulders, smiling, his hands warm and firm through the linen of her shirt. “I’m glad,” he said. “I would hate to not have you around.”
Warmth bubbled up in her chest, a sharp contrast to the cold anxiety that had been percolating for hours. He would have missed her? She wasn’t used to feeling… valued. The friends she had made in the Crows all felt casual, like none of them wanted to get too close in case they didn’t survive the next contract. And she had held herself at a distance, too, but somehow she had let herself get close enough to Lucanis that having to leave would have hurt all the more.
And apparently it would have hurt him, too. Wren wasn’t sure what to do with the feelings that sparked.
“Come on,” he continued, still giving her a crooked smile. “I’ll buy you a coffee.”
“Coffee?” she said with a laugh, following as he ducked out into the rain. “It’s past nine bells. Are you planning to sleep at all tonight?”
“Eh, I never sleep.”
I think everyone I would soft tag has been tagged already, but if you want to share, please share! And tag me!

WIP Wednesday!
The river below roared as nine swordsmen lingered outside a cliff-side cave, shifting uneasily. Despite the bright afternoon, the mouth of the cave loomed dark and foreboding, as if the sun itself had turned away from the riverside bluff. Even the birds seemed to have abandoned the nearby grove of trees, leaving only the thunder of rushing water and the group’s faint murmurs and shuffling to break the silence. Hyrule stood near the back of the group, instinctively putting their bodies between himself and the dark mist curling from the cave’s entrance. Something deep in his core had tightened the closer they came to their destination, twisting into a knot as the cave came into view. The thought of the task ahead of them turned his stomach more than the smell of rot emanating from the cave. “Is this it?” the eldest of their group, Time, asked. “Yup.” Legend stood with a hand on his hip, looking at the cave with a grim expression. “It’s a shame. She helped a lot during my first adventure.” Hyrule’s eyes flicked toward him. “You knew her?” Legend nodded towards the mountain range beyond the cave. “My first dungeon is up there. This fountain’s fairies are half the reason I survived. It kind of feels wrong to repay her with…well, this.” He gestured toward the fountain’s entrance. Pulling his scarf over his mouth, Warriors stepped closer to the cave. “Anything we should know about the terrain in there, vet?” Legend shrugged. “It’s pretty standard as far as underground fountains go—or it was. A couple statues and the pond. I don’t know what else to expect in there since…. In any case, it may be tight. These things aren’t roomy.” “Should we split up?” Sky asked, eyeing the darkness apprehensively. He had never been one for caves. Hyrule, on the other hand, would have been ecstatic to go spelunking in his predecessor’s time period, if not for the solemn nature of their task. Killing a Great Fairy. She’s already gone, Hyrule told himself, a lump lodged in his throat.
